i love fics where Bob feels comfortable enough to be shirtless, even if it's just within his own personal space. there's (almost) always a quiet confidence about him, even in the movie (we're overlooking his "just Bob" intro scene).

"yet, somehow, you always manage." baby, you can't tell me that wasn't a bde line. Bob is confident enough to be himself in The Hard Deck when Roo sings "Great Balls of Fire," and even though everyone is ecstatic Roo and Mav are safe, i think Bob's goofy ass celebration dance required some confidence as well. plus, he's a Naval Aviator! he has to go through the same training (and punishment) that everyone else does. that includes 200+ push-ups! Bob looks good, and i know he knows it, but he also knows his squadron (and eventual friends). he probably vibes by the "don't start none, won't be none," principle when Jake is embracing the Hangman persona. let him do his thing, and stay out of the line of fire.

but i think Morgan is doing an absolutely incredible job with her neighbor!Bob series, right down to the characterization of our sweet baby boy 💖💖🥰🥰

bob floyd RADIATES BDE and is the epitome of strong, silent type. he's a quiet confidence. he balances the group with his introverted manner and lack of proving himself. he knows he's good at his job and being chosen for the uranium mission proves it. plus he has a neighborhood of menopausal women begging him to mow their lawn and fix their dishwasher with the unspoken implication of "please do it shirtless!"

You were typing away on your computer completely focused on the work you were in charge of when there was a loud buzz from your desk phone indicating that the front desk was trying to reach you over the intercom. Blindly pressing the intercom button you kept your eyes on the computer screen as you turned your head towards the phone slightly.

“Yes Rosie?” you asked kindly as you continued to type on the keyboard.

“There’s a Lieutenant Robert Floyd here to see you, dear.” Rosie said over the intercom and you jerked in surprise at her words. Your eyes darted to the little clock in the corner of your computer screen and you softly cursed as you realized it was lunch time, Rosie chuckled over the intercom as she heard your response.. Bob had texted earlier asking if he could take you out for lunch today and you had completely forgotten as work consumed you.

“I’ll be right there!” you called out as you began quickly saving your work and locking your computer. 

“Alright, I will let him know.” Rosie responded and the intercom disconnected. You double checked that your work was saved before locking the computer screen. Scrambling for your bag and keys you rushed out of your office and walked down the hallway to the main lobby area as you cursed yourself for losing track of time and forgetting about lunch with Bob. 

You slowed slightly as you came to the main desk area of your floor as you heard a lot of soft giggling and high pitched voices. Frowning softly you walked around the corner and nearly burst out laughing. Bob stood a few feet from the front desk, where Rosie was sitting, with a trio of pretty women who were literally fawning over him. You watched with wide eyes as one of the women placed a hand on his shoulder and played with the fabric while another pointed to one of his many ribbons that decorated his uniform. You could see Bob’s head swiveling on his neck as he looked uncomfortable in the center of the little group, anger and protectiveness coursed through you as you saw Bob seem to close in on himself. 

Clearing your throat loudly all four of them turned and looked at you, the women all frowned at you confused while Bob lit up with relief and happiness as he recognized you. He quickly excused himself from the women and walked over to you with a pep in his step. When he got over to your side he smiled softly at you before ducking his head quickly to press a kiss to your cheek.

“Sorry I got lost in my work, I didn’t mean to make you wait.” you said softly to him with a happy smile on your face. He shook his head easily as he stepped closer to you, his blue eyes reflected from behind his glasses drawing you in further.

“Are you dating him?” came a voice that seemed almost obnoxious in tone. You turned your head to see one of the women eyeing you with challenging jealous eyes. 

You frowned at her for a moment and moved to speak up to her, she was a bully in the workplace, a “mean girl” if you could label it. You stood slightly in front of Bob unconsciously protecting him from the women glaring at you. You were going to speak up and respond to her question but Bob’s hand slipped into yours and he turned you to face him gently. Staring up at him confused for a moment he smiled lovingly down at you before cupping your face and slotting his lips against yours hungrily. You grabbed onto his waist to steady yourself as the kiss swept you up in pleasure. 

When he pulled away Bob hummed softly before rubbing his nose against yours affectionately. Your breath was still heaving as you slowly came down from your high before you remembered that the women were still waiting for an answer. You turned to see that all three of them had left and you flushed brightly at the thought they left because of Bob’s kiss.

“I couldn’t take them being mean to you because they were jealous.” Bob confessed and you chuckled softly as you placed a gentle kiss on his lips.

“Well you sure showed them!” piped up Rosie making you laugh delightedly as you tugged Bob out of your office and out to lunch.
