Eliot sighed as he walked through the Leverage headquarters, checking to see if the doors were locked and no candles were left lit by Parker.
Seeing the balcony doors still open he slowly walked towards them, wondering why they were still open. When he spotted your familiar figure leaning against the railing, his heart beat picked up in pace. His chest tightened the way it only ever does around you.
Walking out, he tapped his knuckles on the door, to let you know he was there "Hey."
You turned your head to see him and smiled "Hey Eliot, still here?"
"Yeah, I was just locking everything up, I didn't know you were still here."
You hummed quietly as you turned back to look out at the city skyline, the dark cloudy night sky hiding any moonlight that might shine through. "What time is it?"
"Nearly ten." Eliot answered as he came and leaned on the railing next to you. He looked over at you, seeing your bare arms covered in goosebumps. Quickly he took off his jacket and draped it over your shoulders. Looking back at him as he did so, you felt your heart flutter in your chest as he smiled at you "Don't need you catching a cold out here."
You gently grabbed the jacket and pulled it a little tighter around yourself "Thank you" you said quietly with a smile. As you did so, Eliot familiar smell filled your nose, a mix of cologne, shaving cream, and mint. The smell comforted you, made you feel safe, just like Eliot's presence does. Part of you wished you could bottle up that smell.
Eliot had similar thoughts of his own, hoping that some of your smell would rub off on his jacket. Anytime he got a whiff of your familiar body spray, lotion and shampoo it sent a shiver up his spine.
"Are you doing okay?" Eliot broke the silence as he watched your face closely. The recent job had been a bit emotionally taxing on everyone, especially you. You got close to one of the victims you were helping, and they ended up nearly getting killed. You blamed yourself. But luckily they ended up okay, and your team finished the job, but he could tell you had been a bit quiet since it happened.
You smiled sadly "I messed up Eliot."
"Don't do that to yourself okay? Y/n, look at me." He waited until you met his eyes to continue "The plan went haywire and it wasn't your fault, if you hadn't made the decisions you did it would have gone a lot worse than it did. You did a good job, that's what you need to focus on."
You let out a deep breath before nodding, Eliot's words comforting you. You nodded your head "You're right." You smiled softly at him "I think I'm just used to taking the blame."
"Well you shouldn't be. You did good." Eliot stated as he kept his eyes locked on yours "You're good for this team. It's better with you in it. Hell, I'm better with you in it."
You let out a soft chuckle "What?"
"You heard me." He smiled, his eyes quickly flicking to your lips and back to your eyes, so quick you almost missed it. His voice got softer as he spoke "When I see how much you care about the people we help, how little you could care about the pay out when the job is done. You...You make me wanna be better than I am. You make me work harder to be better. And that is because of you Y/n."
"You don't need me to make you better Eliot. You are a good man. One of the best." You smiled at him, your words genuine.
Eliot heart was pounding in his chest, the way you looked at him, through him, made him feel as though he had no need to hide anything from you, not that he could in the first place. You believed he was good, no matter what he had done in his past, you never let him forget that he was a good guy now. And he was more than grateful for that. And all he wanted was to make you see that in yourself as well.
"Yeah. But I hadn't been able to see that when I look in the mirror, until I met you." Eliot admitted as he turned fully towards you.
You moved to face him as well your smile widening "Then I will wear that with pride."
Eliot smiled at you before looking down at his feet, clearing his throat and then meeting your eyes again "I wanna ask you something Y/n."
"Shoot." You replied quickly, your heart picking up pace as you noticed Eliot' demeanor change.
He took a breath before he spoke, slowly, and with a little less confidence than he had hoped "Is it obvious, how I feel about you? 'Cause the others say it is."
You couldn't help the giggle that bubbled out of your mouth at his question as you felt heat rise up your neck "I'd always wondered if what I was seeing was what I thought it was, or, if it was just me hoping. So no, maybe not obvious, but it was there, I think."
Eliot smiled at his as he moved just a little bit closer to you "And all those times I thought I felt it from you?"
"Probably did." You admitted.
Eliot continued to smile as he took another step closer, his face only a few inches from yours now "So, another question. If I asked you, to be with me, would you?"
"Do you mean, as in dating, from this point on, or only temporary?" You asked tentatively. Knowing that Eliot hadn't been with any one person for a long period of time, so you feared that he would not want that you with you either.
"From this point on, until you grow tired of me, which hopefully wouldn't be too soon in the future. I want you to be with me for a long time Y/n. Hell, you're the only person I've met, that I've...fallen for, that I can see having a future with. A long one at that." He reached his hand up as he spoke, gentle stroking his hand across your face.
You smiled at his touch "Well in that case. Yes." you whispered.
Eliot smiled, bringing up his other hand as he know held your face, bringing you closer "Good" he whispered, before pulling you into a deep and passionate, long awaited kiss.

For the fic emoji game: 💖, 🤷♀️, 🎬, and ⏳, please! :)
Oh yay thank you for the ask! 😍
💖Which of your fics is your pride and joy? Oh wow! This is such a good question, I love it! Erm... also hard haha, let me think.
I'm tempted to say Time Will Tell because that started as a thought experiment. Can I take a trope I don't really like and make it work for me? The answer was yes so it was a really cool exercise. However, I feel like I might be being overly swayed by the kind comments I've had on it. I have legit teared up reading them. They are frame-worthy. I have the best readers honestly.
Also it does occur to me that time plays tricks. It's easier to remember the stuff I wrote most recently, and not how I felt when I wrote things in the past. At different times, you'd get a different answer. I have more nostalgia for my older fics these days. I'm in a very different place in my life.
Honestly I think I have to go for one of the crossovers. I questioned my life choices while writing both of them because they were such an investment of time and effort. I also knew they were both niche and I could well be writing for an audience of one. However, I still wrote them and that says a lot I think.
So ultimately I'm going to say and the Sins of Atlantis. The Sanctuary/Librarians crossover. I unironically really enjoy it and I have read it more than once. Is that egotistical? Probably. But it's just so much fun.
🤷♀️What's a fic you didn't expect to be popular, but really took off? and the Brighter Side of Life. It's a little Librarians oneshot where Eve takes Flynn home to meet her parents. The comments and kudos just poured in (comparatively). I remember being stunned at the time. It was one of half a dozen oneshots I wrote for the Librarians Prompt Month the first year I really took part. That one just went whoosh.
🎬One of your fics gets turned into a TV series. Which one is it and what network is it on? Ooooh. Hmm... interesting. Well this goes back to what I said earlier about time. I don't feel much of a connection anymore beyond "awwww nostalgia" for my older fics. There are some cool details and dynamics, and I feel like taking notes in case I want to incorporate them somehow into a novel in the future. However, that's about the extent of my feelings.
I haven't written a true AU really since those days though. I love AU's, they are a chance to be inventive. When I read back my old fic I'm like "oooh" about the 'clever' choices I made in how to bring in various characters (sorry egotistical again). But that's the fun of AU's really, how to make it all fit together in this new way.
Anyway it's kinda hard to say about my more recent fic, being turned into a TV show because it already is a TV show - it's just missing moments, canon divergence etc.
Also I got to be honest I know nothing about various networks and what they are known for, or what networks are good and what suck. Especially because I mostly watch US TV and I live in England so I never see anything on it's original network (unless it's a multi-region streaming thing like Disney+ I guess).
I suppose... I'm picking at writing an original serial which is the closest books get to a TV show I guess. It's structured very much into episodes and seasons. It's an artifact chasing type unit ala Warehouse 13/the Librarians but based in England, with worldwide adventures and predominantly queer. The Librarians was TNT and Warehouse 13 SyFy (thanks google). I think the new Librarians is on Prime like the new Leverage? The queer MC's do make it trickier though. I think all networks suck for that. I don't know honestly.
⏳If you could go back in time and tell your younger writer self something, what would it be? Another great question!
This is difficult because I have learned so much craft over the years, and it would be amazing to go back and be like "here's what you need to know" so I could write better stories, much earlier. However, that's part of learning I guess - it's a journey. I suppose the emotion here is that I mourn the time I have lost, the stories I didn't tell, and that has less to do with skill and more to do with mental health.
I suppose ultimately it would boil down to a cliché of "don't give up" because I did. As a kid I dreamed of being a writer but when I was about 14 I told myself I had to grow up. That I had more chance of winning the lottery than making any money at it, and I had to get serious and pick a real career. I sobbed all night and a few years later had my first complete mental breakdown, but I digress.
Writing is in my soul. I always return to it. That's why I wish so much that I hadn't turned away from it. Those 'lost years' I mentioned. Back in 2016 I indie published a couple of books. I look at them now and cringe, and wonder how I ever got the nerve as I feel they are so badly written (hey maybe that means my skills have improved?). However, I was finally following my dream. Then... my personal life blew up (I was going to write out what happened but I'll spare you). In my fear and panic I made some decisions and I didn't write much for years. I gave up on my dream. It's only now - 8 years later!!! - that I'm coming back to it and I regret that so much.
So yeah TLDR - don't give up on the dream. Keep writing.

Written in the Stones (Leverage Crossover)
Prompt: Jacob thinks that his twin brother, Eliot, is dead but Ezekiel knows the truth. And, the truth may ruin their relationship... forever.
Jacob was feeling down. He always felt down this time of year. It was around the time where he and his dad got the message that Eliot had died while in service.
Ezekiel curled up to his cowboy, head on his chest as he stared up at Jacob. He watched as Jacob stared blankly at the ceiling. He frowned a bit, his stomach twisting.
He knew the truth about Eliot. He’d run into the long-haired male while trying to steal the same thing. He remembered those misty, blue eyes as he faded into unconsciousness after being stabbed.
“Are you okay?” Ezekiel asked Jacob.
“Yeah. I’m fine, darlin’,” Jacob told him softly, wrapping an arms around Ezekiel’s smaller frame.
Ezekiel moved closer to him, nuzzling his shoulder a bit. “What are you thinking about?”
Jacob was quiet for a moment. Did he want to tell Ezekiel about having a dead twin brother? A little bit.
“I’m just... thinking about home,” Jacob finally announced softly.
“You hate home, love.”
“I’m thinking about my past. Not specifically my dad.”
Ezekiel sat up, hugging himself for a moment. He jumped when Jacob wrapped his arms around him.
“Your brother is alive,” Ezekiel blurted, covering his mouth and hugging himself again when Jacob recoiled from Ezekiel as if he’d been burnt.
“You’re lying.”
“I don’t lie, Jacob. I would never lie about this.”
“You’re lying. I was told he was dead by the US army,” Jacob said, standing and towering over Ezekiel, threateningly. ”He’s dead.”
“They never found a body,” Ezekiel said. “Right? Usually they’ll find a body, but they didn’t, did they? Explain that, Jacob.”
Jacob sputtered for a moment. “I think you should go.”
Ezekiel looked up at him with large, hurt eyes. All he saw was cold, unforgiving ones. He left as requested. He gave Jacob one last glance before exiting the room.
“Idiot,” Ezekiel cursed to himself. “I’m such a bloody idiot.”
He was packing a bag. He was going off to find Eliot. He wanted to give his... ex boyfriend closure.
He shouldered the backpack and took a deep breath. He walked into the annex and looked up at Jenkins for a moment before looking down. “You and Mr. Stone have a bit of a falling out?”
“Kind of,” Ezekiel said before explaining the entire ordeal to the caretaker.
“I see... You are going off to find Mr. Stone’s long lost brother.”
“I’m telling the truth, Jenkins. I am. I don’t lie. I may be a thief, but I don’t lie,” Ezekiel said, taking a deep breath to calm himself. “I have to do this or... Or Jacob will never be able to trust me ever again.”
“Where do you need to go, Mr. Jones?” Jenkins said, moving towards the globe. “I will cover for you.”
“Boston. I need to go to Boston,” Ezekiel said,
He’d been up the entire night running searching for Eliot and he’d found him in Boston, but that was all he’d gotten.
“I need a more specific location, Mr. Jones,” Jenkins drawled.
“McRory’s bar,” Ezekiel decided. It was one of his favorite bars.
“Very well.”
Ezekiel stepped into the bar, stumbling slightly and looked around. He took a seat in the corner and out of the way. He set up his laptop and plugged it into the outlet.
“Can I get you a drink?” A ginger girl asked.
“Just a beer is fine,” Ezekiel said, looking up at her with a slight smile.
She walked away and he didn’t look up when someone else walked over.
“I’ve already gotten my ord-” He was cut off by a hand wrapping around his throat.
His eyes widened as he looked up into the familiar eyes of Eliot Spencer. He let out a croak, trying to say something, but his throat was being crushed and he couldn’t breathe. He was starting to panic.
“Eliot, let the kind man go,” a voice said, comingup besides the long haired man.
Suddenly, Ezekiel could breathe again. He took gasping breaths of air, pressing himself against the wall of the booth, keeping distance between him and Eliot.
“What are you doing here?” Eliot growled, hands on the table. “I told you to never come after me.”
“I know.” Ezekiel’s voice was small. “It’s about Jacob.”
Eliot’s eyes widened. He sat down across from Ezekiel, waving off the people who’d gathered around them. They dispersed after a hesitant moment.
“What about him?” Eliot asked, eyes narrowing again.
“He... I told him you were alive and now he wont talk to me and it hurts. He always listens to reason but now he’s not and he hates me. He won’t even talk to me. I... I really messed up, but he was so sad. I just wanted to make him feel better.”
Eliot growled. “You told him I was alive?”
“He mopes around for days on end around the anniversary of finding out you “died”,” Ezekiel said, putting finger quotes around died. “I couldn’t keep it from him any longer. He deserves to know you’re alive.”
“Where is he?”
“I’d have to bring him to you.”
“Why can’t you bring me to him?” Eliot narrowed his eyes.
“We’re not allowed to let outsiders into our line of work. I learned that the hard way. I can’t bring another person. Last time they stole something important and almost ruined Christmas.”
Eliot leaned in. Ezekiel could smell the apple shampoo and the familiar cologne from the other.
“I’m going to tell you this once, and only once,” Eliot said, eyes narrowing. “You’re going to bring me to my brother and I wont kick your ass.”
“Fine, but the others are going to be really mad at me if you steal anything,” Ezekiel said.
Ezekiel pulled Eliot into the annex through the backdoor. He laughed slightly when he watched him stumble.
Eliot growled at him and Ezekiel shut up immediately.
“Where are we?” Eliot asked, looking around. His eyebrows scrunched together.
“Welcome to the Library, mate,” Ezekiel said.
“My brother works in a library?” Eliot said, sounding disbelieving.
“Not /a/ library,” Ezekiel said, shaking his head. “/The/ Library.”
“I don’t get it. My brother could barely read a book for school,” Eliot said. “Why would he be a librarian.”
“Don’t be ignorant. You’re brother is the smartest man I know,” Ezekiel said. “He must’ve been hiding his intelligence from you.”
Eliot frowned.
“Jones, who are you-” Ezekiel whipped around to see Eve standing in the doorway to the Annex.
“Uh, colonel, meet Eliot Spencer. Retrieval specialist and twin brother of Jacob,” Ezekiel said, motioning to Eliot. “Eliot, meet Colonel Eve Baird.”
Eliot puffed his chest out, eyes narrowing. “NATO-terrorist team?”
“How’d you know?” Eve asked, sizing up Eliot.
“You have a very distinctive stance,” Eliot said, shrugging.
“Keep an eye on him for me, Baird. I have to get Jacob.” Ezekiel ran from the room
Jacob was sitting in his room. He was trying to focus on the book he was reading, but it wasn’t working.
“Come in,” he called, hearing someone knock at the door.
Ezekiel pushed it open. “Jacob?”
“Go away, Jones,” Jacob snarled.
“No,” Ezekiel said, finally standing up for himself. “No. You need to get your head out of your arse.”
Jacob looked up, startled when Ezekiel stood up for himself.
“I’m sick and tired of you not listening to me,” Ezekiel continued. “I don’t lie. I may be a thief, but I /don’t/ lie. I would never lie to you about something like that. You were so sad and I couldn’t stand seeing you sad like that.”
Ezekiel stared at his feet. “Now- Now I want you to come with me. I have to show you something.”
Jacob rose to his feet. “Okay.”
Ezekiel reach out a shaking hand. Jacob didn’t take it. Ezekiel understood why. They were still on pause.
Ezekiel lead him into the Annex to where Eve and Eliot were laughing. Jacob’s mouth fell open and tears started to stream down his cheeks.
Eliot smiled brightly seeing his brother. He opened his arms for a hug and received one.
It was silent for a moment before Jacob pulled away from his brother and punched him square in the face.
“What the hell, Eliot! Why did you pretend to be dead? Where have you been this entire time? How come Ezekiel know you were alive but I didn’t?” Jacob asked, sky blue eyes ablaze with fury.
“Because we ran into each other a time or two. The second time I stabbed him because he got to what I was going after first,” Eliot said, shrugging.
“Yeah, your brother and i have a past. He doesn’t like me much,” Ezekiel said, shrugging.
“Jones, I’m so sorry,” Jacob apologized, pulling the Australian close and brushing his lips against Ezekiel’s. “I’m so stupid to not believe you. I know you don’t lie, and yet, I was in so much denial I thought you were lying.”
Ezekiel pressed his lips against Jacob’s. “Next time, you won’t get off so easy.”
Jacob tilted his head to the side for a moment. “Uh... What?”
“You’ll find out soon enough.” Ezekiel turned to Eliot. “Time to get back to your team, Eliot. Just go right on through that door and you will be right back in Boston.”
Eliot nodded and moved towards the door and paused, turning back to Eve, Jacob and Ezekiel. “Don’t be a stranger, Jake. You can even bring Ezekiel along with you if you ever want to come hang out in Boston for a bit.”
Jacob smiled a bit, arm still around Ezekiel. “I’ll make sure you send you a call if I ever want to meet up. Maybe start a bar brawl somewhere for old time’s sake?”
“Yeah, I’d like that.”
Family was reunited and trust was mended. It was a good day for Ezekiel Jones and Jacob Stone.

“Oh!” Parker exclaimed, startling all of you as you sat around on the couch in Nates apartment.
Eliot sighed audibly “Don’t do that Parker!”
“What?! I just got an idea! Lets tell scary stories!” she suggested, excitement evident in her voice as she bounced in her seat.
“Uhh, I don’t know about that” Hardison broke in.
“Oh, no, let’s” Sophie said, her own excitement growing “It’s Halloween, let’s set the mood! Besides, I love story telling”
After having turned off all the lights, you walked around Nate’s apartment lighting candles around the room as Hardison turned on a battery powered lantern, setting it in the middle of the room where you had all been sitting. Setting the mood for the story-telling event you were now taking part in. The occasional lightning strike lit up the apartment as the thunder echoed through the sky, a storm going on outside, helping to set the mood.
Parker clapped and bounced in her seat again “Okay, I’ll go first!”
You sat down next to Eliot, who moved over for you. Leaning against him, he wrapped his arm around you, pulling you a little closer to him. Parker grabbed the lantern, bringing it closer so it lit up her face.
As she began to tell her story, it really didn’t take long before it started to make no sense. You stared at her with a look of confusion as she put on voices, and used her hands to explain things. Glancing over at Eliot you saw him staring at her incredulously, laced with annoyance.
“And then....they all, died” she finished her voice a raspy whisper.
“Yeah. Figured it would end that way” you muttered as she smiled at you.
“Parker...” Hardison began before lifting his hands up “You know what, never mind”
“That wasn’t a scary story Parker” Eliot began
“Yes it was!” Parker defended.
“Oh, me next” Sophie broke in, stopping the incoming argument as you chuckled quietly from next to Eliot, who had now leaned his head back with a sigh. You absentmindedly ran your hand through his hair, relaxing him slightly.
As Sophie began her story, she set the scene, Parker stared at her in wonder as she listened. Her story was far better than Parkers, but more dramatic than scary. A few moments later, as he finished her story she looked around to gauge reactions.
You paused “That was it? That was the end?”
“Yeah!” she said with a smile “I love cliffhangers, don’t you?”
Eliot rolled his eyes “That wasn’t scary either Sophie”
Sophie gasped in offence as she smacked his knee “I bet you don’t have a better one!”
Eliot leaned forward “You’re damn right I do, and unlike yours, it actually happened.”
“Oh, based on a real story aye?” Sophie asked “Do tell” she said leaning back, as if challenging him.
“Fine” Eliot said as he leaned forward, his demeanor changing, his voice becoming lower in volume and deeper in tone as he set the scene. He was telling the story of something that happened on a mission he went on several years prior in the Andes.
Half way through his story, as he described a scene of a massacre he found, though all the bodies were missing, all that was left were blood pools, claw marks, and the words ‘don’t let it see you’ written on the wall in blood, you and the others were completely silent and still, listening with great interest, wondering where the story was headed.
By the end of the story, Parker had her head partially hidden in a pillow, occasionally shoving Halloween candy into her mouth, Hardison was silent and had hidden himself partially behind Parker. Sophie was eating popcorn slowly as she stared at Eliot, listening intently.
You were still seated next to Eliot, watching his profile as he spoke, you thought you knew him well enough to know whether he was telling the truth, but he was so good at stories that you couldn’t help the occasional thought of, ‘what if he isn’t lying?’ running through your mind.
“When I realized that all my team members had completely vanished, all I could do was run, I knew whatever was in that bunker wasn’t human, or, was created in some way. But I knew I couldn’t take it on by myself. So I ran, out into the snow, into the dark. I trekked through the mountains, constantly on guard as I kept hearing that same familiar howl, deep, guttural, almost human-like, but not quite. I kept going until I found a ranger station early the next morning. I’ve never gone back, and none of the bodies of the missing were found”
He finished, staring at the floor, it was quiet for a moment before Parker spoke, quietly “No one figured out what it was?” Looking over at her, all he did was shake his head in answer to his question.
“God damn” Hardison muttered “Remind me to never go to the Andes”
You all remained silent for a moment, letting the intense atmosphere linger. Only for it to be drastically changed when the lights came back on suddenly, a new figure standing in front of you all.
You and Sophie gasped, Hardison yelled out while Parker let out a small screech, Eliot jumped, turning defensively.
“What the hell are you all doing?” Nate asked, ignoring the fact that he just scared the hell out of all of you.
All of you let out sighs of relief as he spoke “Jesus Nate” Sophie commented “At least knock first”
“This is my apartment” Nate muttered as he walked past “Now answer my question, what were you doing?”
“We were telling scary stories!” Parker exclaimed.
You leaned back into Eliot, your heart still pounding from the sudden excitement. Eliot wrapped his arm around you again, before he pressed a kiss to the side of your head as you both watched Parker get up and follow Nate.
“Is that so?” he asked as he stopped in the kitchen.
“Yeah!” she paused for a second “Hey Nate...how much does it cost to take a trip to the Andes?”
“No!” Hardison yelled as he stood up “Hell no!”
Parker turned back to him “What?! Come on, you wanna go to!”
“I sure as hell do not” he said exasperated.
You chuckled as Eliot smirked, you turned slightly towards Eliot “You know, it was hard to tell if you were telling the truth or not. That story...wasn’t, true.. was it?” you asked.
Eliot looked into your eyes before he smirked “I’ll never tell”
You frowned as he chuckled, kissing the tip of your nose before turning back and listening on the, now argument, going on between the others.
