Hello! How would Diluc, Albedo, Venti and Childe react to a Reader that suddenly got transported in their world and can't find a way back? They worked as a medic/pharmacologist back in their world and now they try to help people and improve their quality of life by creating innovative medicine.

Diluc:

Diluc was confused at first on why you came to Teyvat

You explain to him that you didn't know and something made you got here

Well, he really has a lot of question for you, but for now he just gonna let you be and offered you to stay at the winery for awhile

Diluc gave you a spare room for you to sleep, it was pretty large for one person ngl >_>

He asks you about your world and what do you do or work there

First, he was actually surprised that no one in your world held a vision, he can imagine it tho.. but full of technology... now that sounds kinda cool

Everything sounds really easy with the help of technology

Unfortunately, you didn't really know how to go back to your world so you can't really give him a look at your world

One thing that surprises him was the fact that you're a medic

Diluc always questions you about the medicine or medication that you used to heal him

It's actually much more easier to use and really innovative

Diluc convinced you to open your own pharmacy, because the medicine that you made was really good

You declined it at first, but then you think about it and you give it a shot

It was rather slow at first because people still think these things are still weird or not normal

But after awhile, your pharmacy is well known around Mondstadt :D

You not only made the medicine multi-function and really useful, but you also donate some of them to people that are short in money

Diluc is really proud of you that you made an improvement on the life quality in Mondstadt

He sometimes visited you and helps you run the cashier if your working at the medicine

Diluc sometimes even helped you made some medications

Overall he's really happy that you're here in Teyvat

Childe:

Childe is probably very curious about your world when you first told him

Well one thing is for sure, sparring like he wanted is illegal, and that's why don't know how to use a weapon :I

The man still wanted to teach you how to fight for goodness sake-

He's happy that he met you because, you're a medic

So sometimes when he got back home, he could come to you

The first reason was he could save some mora, and secondly.. you have a way more different and efficient medications

Childe is surprisingly understand what are the things that you used. He even memorized it

Sometimes he stocked some medicine that you've made and used it himself

He really loved it, because the fact that his wounds and scars took less time to heal.. this man :/

Ngl he wanted to help you open up your pharmacy in Liyue if you wanted

Since you needed money for your life, you opened one

Childe helps you promoted some medicine to some of his fatui friends..

To your surprised, the shop grew quickly O-O

Albedo:

Albedo is really curious about your world

A world without vision and everything runs with technology sounded really interesting

He would love to study you

You can't seem to find a way to get back to your world, so you guess your stuck now

You explain to him how everything in your world works

You even gave him a look at your phone :v

With this little thing, you literally almost could do everything

Albedo finds that life in your world sounded more efficient.. you probably don't have to carry books since you could search it up lol

Albedo is also fascinated by the fact that you're a medic

Seeing you used some of his potions and things that he gathered turn into a very useful medication, he wants to learn it from you

The effects of the medicine that you made, could make a breakthrough to the medical world in Teyvat

Albedo always allow you to come to his office if you need to work on some medicine

When he's injured during his experiments, you will use the medicine you made

He always wanted you to share the medicine with the people of Mondstadt since it very useful

You didn't want to tho.. but one day as you're passing by Stormbearer Mountains, you saw a couple of adventurer injured

You offered them your help, using your medicine ofc

They actually really interested by it and how convenient it is

They thank you and they left

So from that day, it kinda convinced you, so you talk to Albedo about your plannings opened one

Luckily since you help those adventurers, your shop sometimes visited by adventurers :)

Everyone appreciated you for making their life's much easier

Albedo finally found someone that can use his alchemy for medicine lmao

"Oh, another new medicine? May I learn how to create one? I would like to know how do you made these medicine so useful for a lot of people"

Venti:

Well.. Venti here isn't surprised at all if you came from another world lol

Let's face it, he met traveler before so.. yeah...

He probably thinks that you came from the same world as the traveler..

You told him what your world is like.. he's interested in the alcohol part, this bic..

ANYWAYS- Venti wanted to know what is your job at your world

You said you were a medic at your world, he didn't really know anything about health.. so wow? lol

Everything is still a bit traditional like using herbs and other stuff like that, or a vision holder that has healing powers

It sounds kinda inefficient... then you explain to Venti how the medical world is like in your world..

He think it's more easier since it multifunction even though the ingredients are... need more understandings on it

You give some of the medicine to Venti for him to keep Even tho he's an archon he probably doesn't need it-

What you don't know was that he was helping people that are injured with your medicine

People asked him where did he get them and it said it's from you.. wow Venti :")

A lot of people came to you and ask for some medicine, some of them actually suggested you to open a pharmacy of your own

Well, you can't really decline that since you need some money and the people are loving your medicine

Firstly you just open up the store in your house since you need to collect some money to buy a separate shop for it

Then, when you have enough mora, you open up a new shop not far from your house

There you go, now you're famous by the product that you made and all that thanks to Venti.. who from behind your back.. told everyone that this awesome craft is from you :"D

I kinda wanna fucking scream, so here, have a offline bullshit rant post.

So I’ve literally been trying to get my stupid fucking meds for over a MONTH now at this point, which I’m sure you can all see like, my mood is just wooooonderful these days. Not an excuse, casual reminder that yeah you do gotta take care of your own space so if my mood is dragging anyone down, I’m totes on board with blocking or unfollowing or y’know, burning me in effigy or something. Okay maybe not that last part. But still. You get it. And its not even that like, I need mood stabilizers per se, lol, so shout out to the armchair diagnosticians helpfully peppering my inbox still in their quest to oh so slickly be like ‘hey you’re a hot mess, take your hot messness away from tumblr’ like lol, didn’t ask.....nah, its mostly the perpetual lack of sleep and chronic pain issues that I have zero distraction from when my specific combo of meds isn’t able to let me actually weaponize my ADHD properly and power through that. Its a whole thing. Whatever. Just go with it.

POINT IS. So I’ve been trying to do this for over a month now, first obstacle was even just getting the money together for my refill appointment which is a whopping $150, because I have to pay out of pocket for mental health stuff these days because I had to switch my insurance over to something that paid out more heavily for physical benefits like my jaw surgery.....and because of the pandemic, and how many psychiatrists in my area and that I could actually reach aren’t taking new patients during the pandemic since most of them are conducting business virtually still, like, I have barely any resources for seeking out and trying new psychiatrist offices in the meanwhile that might charge less and I’m kinda stuck with the one I have because the last thing I can afford is to have like, NO psychiatrist at the moment, y’know?

So first I had to have that to even BOOK the appointment, which took forever because rent and food are a joy to accrue when you can barely manage to function as an actual employee of the capitalist machine ahfsklhflkahflakf, but so then I did that and like, got an appointment put on the books for August 19th. That was the soonest they could fit me in back when I paid them for my appointment about a week and a half ago. No, two weeks ago now? Eh, time is fake. ANYWAY, so that wasn’t gonna work for me, so basically the entirety of last week was devoted to constantly calling and trying to check in every other hour to see if they had any sooner cancellations I could take, because for whatever fucking reason, they just ‘don’t do’ a cancellation list wherein they call the next person on the list once they have a cancellation. Whatever.

So finally got a cancellation slot with a virtual appointment last Saturday night at random as fuck 8:40. Okay cool. Most of my refills are fairly simple, no real changes, but two are controlled substances so like, they have to do their due diligence and go through the proper protocols before giving me another prescription to one or whatever. Fine. Okay.

So I call the CVS they sent the prescription for my ADHD med to, the very next morning. One of the controlled substances, and the key med to like....making me functional instead of a rambling disjointed whirlibird of a thought emitter. Problem is, that medication is on back order. Won’t be in until Tuesday. Ugh. Okay, fine. Nothing I can do about it, because while the specific provider I spoke to in order to GET my refill prescriptions was taking an appointment the night before, the actual offices that schedule appointments and connect patients through to their providers was closed for the weekend, so I couldn’t even ask for them to send the scrip somewhere else.

SO. I go back to the CVS on Monday, hoping that maybe it came in early because not like I can do much else in the meanwhile. Course its not there, but oh well. I toy with the idea of calling to ask my provider to send the scrip to a different pharmacy (only had it sent to this one cuz its within walking distance to me, and since I can’t drive for medical reasons and Uber’s are expensive as fuck, just for errands, like, even though walking is sooooo not fun for me physically, like it is what it is). I decide against it because here’s another fun fact about this controlled substance....for security reasons, pharmacies don’t have to tell people over the phone if they have it in stock or not. Like, they won’t just say no we don’t have it in stock - I mean, they WILL say that, but that doesn’t actually mean anything because that’s what most of them say about that particular medication no matter whether or not they DO, and then just cite security protocols, so you have to actually GO to the store in question to ask them and even get a real answer to whether or not they even HAVE it in stock to FILL a prescription if its sent over. And no, the provider won’t just send scrips into several different pharmacies at once and just be whichever has it in stock can fill it - because again, controlled substance.

SO. I decide its not worth it to try getting the scrip sent over somewhere else, because I’d have to at least waste money on an Uber to even travel to various pharmacies and even check if they CAN fill it sooner than this one, when at least this place will have it in tomorrow. Its just one more day at this point.

Except then I go back on Tuesday. Oh sorry, don’t know why that other person told you we’d have our order in today, our shipments of that medication don’t come in until Wednesdays.

So I go back Wednesday. Success! They have it in stock. I go to pay, pulling out my goodRx coupon that was just printed out that morning, specifically citing the price for CVS at Target. The pharmacy manager says sorry, we don’t honor that coupon here for controlled substances like this one. I say: record scratch? He’s like yeah, that’s at the discretion of individual pharmacies, and we don’t honor that price for this specific medication, because we don’t want to attract customers only coming here to get that medication filled for that price. (This pharmacy is right at the edge of Inglewood and Culver City, for anyone who is familiar with those neighborhoods. The implications are exactly as they appear to be). So I’m like, what’s the regular generic price? He quotes me something that’s $180 more than the coupon, and thus $180 more than I have since I was focused totally on getting THIS amount ASAP, so I could get these meds so I could do more work and make more money. You see the train of thought. I’m like well that’s awesome, I don’t have anything close to that. Hey. Weird question. Why did nobody I talked to the past three days in a row that I’ve walked into this store in person to request this refill, like, mention this little tidbit about not honoring this coupon so instead of waiting for a backorder that would do me no good, I could have been spending that time having my prescription transferred somewhere that WOULD honor it?

He’s like, well did you mention to any of them that you’d be using a goodRx coupon for this particular medication? I said, yup. He said, you sure? I said well the specific process each time was I came in, I asked if this medication was in, they said what’s your name and date of birth, I provided that info, they said are you paying out of pocket, we don’t have valid insurance info for this on file for you, I said yup paying out of pocket with a goodRx coupon, they said *clickety clack of the keyboard* nope, sorry, we won’t have this medicine in until Tuesday, I mean Wednesday. 

He’s like, well you must be misremembering or they would have told you at the time that we don’t take GoodRx coupons on this medication. I’m like, dude, it was you. It was literally you that I spoke to two of those three times, right here at the counter, in person. I’m gonna go ahead and trust my memory of those interactions and what was said there over yours since you don’t actually remember having talked to me two times in the last three days. He’s like, I gotta go help another customer. There is no other customer. I leave. Fun day for everyone.

So then I call around town to at least check which CVS will actually honor the coupon I have and the price that I can afford to pay it at. I don’t bother asking if they even have the medication in stock because I know its not guaranteed to be a CORRECT answer, but at least I can see who accepts this damn coupon. Also, reason I’m only trying big brand pharmacies instead of smaller, hole in the wall ones is because again, controlled substance, and I know from experience that the bigger brand pharmacies are at least more likely to have that med in stock whereas most smaller ones tend to run out very quickly as they usually only get enough for their existing/regular customers and a little extra.

I find a CVS five miles away - not walkable, gonna have to Uber. Call my psychiatrist office again to ask them to transfer the scrip, front office says they’ll send the request to my provider, who usually checks and fulfills such requests in 24-48 hours. I’m like okay cool, can I get a phone call to let me know when that happens, so at least I know when to check back to follow up if it hasn’t happened yet for whatever reason? They’re like no, the pharmacy will send you a text or call when they get the prescription sent over and you can take it from there with them. I’m like okay, but I’ve done this a bunch of times and know from experience the pharmacy does NOT in fact always call or text, so is there a certain time to follow up to inquire if the provider has already sent the scrip and the pharmacy SHOULD have it by now or if the delay is on the provider’s end? Front office is like yeah no. I’m like, swell.

So that was yesterday. I call the pharmacy (which I still don’t even know if they have the medication IN STOCK to fill the scrip even once they GET the scrip, and won’t until I can actually Uber out there, but one thing at a time at this point) at like 9 pm, they’re a 24 hour pharmacy, and they’re like nope, we got nothing (this is after spending an hour and a half on hold to even TALK to someone at the pharmacy). Called them again today at noon, still nada. Technically I have another 29 hours before the window in which the provider is supposed to send the refill scrip to this new location, before I can be like, okay so they still haven’t done it, can we send him a nudge or another request. The 24-48 hour window will only actually EXPIRE after their offices close on Friday meaning it’ll be Monday before I can even actually REACH someone again to ask them to send the scrip again, if the pharmacy hasn’t ACTUALLY gotten it by Friday night, and pessimistically, I’m not super inclined to assume that they will at this point. 

I’m antsy, irritable, hungry because I don’t even know for SURE sure if the new pharmacy will ACTUALLY honor the coupon or say no sorry we don’t do that here either, whoever told you that was wrong, or if they’ll even actually have it in stock versus I’ll have to have it sent somewhere else AGAIN, so I have to pinch every penny possible in order to ensure I have the most money possible once my prescription IS filled in case the price is more than I expected again or in case I have to take Ubers there or further than I expected or basically....shit happens that I don’t expect. And this is what I’m basically spending all my time doing instead of working, because trying to get work done in this state is like....the harder I try to make it happen, the less it actually gets done, so I try and prioritize this and its roadblock after roadblock dragging out and wasting my time, and like yeah, I can post and shit while I’m doing this aka sitting on hold or walking around town trying to get shit filled because its fine if I ramble incoherently along the way in posts, but actual WORK work requires like....fucking coherency and succinctness and not having to stop and start every five minutes to call someone else, and oh yeah, being able to power through migraine spikes. And just.

I’m very annoyed about anything and everything to do with this shit. The hoops you have to jump through to even get the stuff that like....actualizes your hoop jumping ability, is just....*gnashing of teeth*

1. What song is currently your fave?

Honestly, I don't have a favourite song right now. I should get one and then some more. I might perform in October and I need to pick some songs to sing. So I guess I'll go and listen to some music and decide.

Music. I would love to write some songs one day. Last time I did was in High school for an Assignment I got from my music class.

I always really liked Batman.

 Lol, I really liked to play Monopoly when I was a kid. Fun times.

9 and counting. Depending on what you define as an WIP. Currently I'm writing 3 WIPS but the rest are floating around in my head.

So, Friday the 9th is National Women's day which means I have a long weekend. And I hope I can get some writing done because lately I've been really struggling to write. So it's possible that in the whole long weekend I'll only write a line. I think I finally figured out the reason and I'll need to work through it. So it might be a while that I'll keep struggling.

7. What is your favorite animal (real or fantasy)?

I always loved horses.

I don't know. I always really liked the idea of Reyes (Mass Effect: Andromeda) neither is the good nor the bad guy. I always really loved characters like that.

Lemons. I love to eat sour things.

I'm not sure I have a favourite one. But as a kid I really loved Aladin. Always loved characters like Aladin.

I would love to have a sharpei dog or a huskey with blue eyes. But honestly, I also feel it's cruel to have huskeys where I live becuase it's hot here. They can be easily found here, but still.

2) How long would you last in a zombie apocalypse?

This is me being realistic, not pessimistic. 

So, getting supplies will be really important. People would want to get food first, that’s pretty important. And let’s be honest. Do we ever see people that depend on medical supplies in movies or series where there’s a zombie apocalypse? No, not really and if we do well they never last long. And since I’m a diabetic I don’t think I’ll last long either. Maybe my insulin will keep me for a couple of weeks but sooner or later I’ll run out. Maybe there’s a pharmacy that will have some sort of stock left but sooner or later insulin will be scarce. The people that do has it won’t give it for nothing. I’ll run out of needles and testing strips too. I might survive a while without it, but sooner or later I won’t be able to and then I’ll be a liability to others. 

3) If you could learn the absolute and total truth to one question, what would you ask?

Oh wow, there's a couple. One question I had for most of my life is, why am I diabetic? And yes, yes, I know my pancreas stopped working one day, but why? There must be a reason, right?

Generally I never really asked this question out loud because well everyone has their own opinions. There's no family history of it. The one doctor said it's possible that a virus or something attacked my pancreas but I didn't have one that time. So that didn't really make sense. When I was a kid my mom thought it was because of stress. The reason she thought it was because I started to get symptoms at the age of 5 and it's around that time my parents started to get problems. The timing fits but I disagree.

Apparently, there are some unknown reasons people can become diabetics (just what I've heard) so I'll probably never know. Just something to think about.

4) If you could ask for advice from any historical figure, who would it be?

Maybe, Jan van Riebeeck. 

5) Add on to above- What would you ask this historical person?

Honestly, I’m not sure if he is the right person for this. I don’t know who is. But I would ask him what he thinks of the current situation South Africa is in. I would ask, what he thinks he should do to do better. To stop doing the wrong things and start to do the right ones. To be able to forgive and forget and move on to a better future. 

6) If you had a theme song, what would it be?

Hmm... not sure. Maybe I want to break free- Queen. I always liked the idea of freedom.  

7) What do you miss most about being a kid?

I miss watching movies with my dad. I used to visit him and we saw movies together. I'm not really sure why I miss it though.

8) What fact amazes you every time you think of it?

What service dogs are capable of doing. 

9) Which pet made the biggest impact on your life? (If no pets, then a person.)

My first dog. I got him when I was 1. The reason my parents decided to get me a dog was because they didn’t want me to be alone. They were at work all day, and sister is 8 years older than me and my brother 10 years so they thought a dog would be a good idea. His name was Buksie. I told him all my secrets and feeling growing up, and he understood me. He went everywhere with me and we had a very special bond. He died when I was 11, and his death was really hard for me. 

10) What makes a person beautiful to you?

a Person’s personality. And I don’t think this is a very popular opinion. This actually reminds me of a Psychology class. The lecturer asked, “If you walk into a room what attracts you to another person.” Basically, it was personality vs. looks.  And of course, my lecturer pinpointed me so I gave my opinion. I told them I never liked someone because of looks. For me, it’s always been about personality. I always first needed to get to know the person a little bit different. I care more about what’s on the inside than the outside. That’s what matters to me. Which is probably why my friends (in school) always was attracted to the guys who were good looking and were in the first Rugby team where I just never saw it like that. 

11) What makes you feel young?

Singing makes me feel young. Music makes me feel alive.

Hate to make another post bitching about sexy pharmacist not texting me enough throughout the day, but here I am.

I’ve been less crazy the past few days, not crying like a psycho, and spending less time dwelling on the lack of texts. I had almost accepted it 100%. I’ve been busy with school, so I’m sure that’s helping.

Today it started bothering me again, just a little. I’ve been kinda mimicking his text habits - cutting off conversations before he can, trying not to bother him too much or send too many texts.

What bothers me is that basically we will send each other 1-2 texts and then he’ll say he has something else to do and that he’ll text me or catch up with me later or something. But then 5 hours will pass and he hasn’t said anything, so I give in and text him and feel annoying. I’ll ask what he’s doing, and he’ll say lying on his couch & watching a movie. You can’t text me while you sit on your couch? 

I was surprised this morning because he actually texted me good morning first before I even woke up. The text was sweet. I responded maybe 45 min later, and then he responded to me about an hour later in a way that cut off conversation (even though we weren’t even having one - it just prevented me from starting one).

4 hours later - I text him and ask how his day’s going. He gives good long responses, which is nice. He doesn’t just say “it’s good, bye.” He tells me what he’s been doing, what he ate for lunch, what he’s about to do, responds to whatever I said about how my day’s going, etc. Like today, he said he was getting ready to go somewhere (he told me where, not like he’s being sneaky or anything), but it’s just crazy that the same time I texted him is the exact same time he’s about to go somewhere and now he can’t talk. It was like this yesterday afternoon when I texted him around the same time. So I tell him okay & that I’ll text him later. I started mimicking what he says to me so that I don’t seem like a dumb, desperate idiot when I try to continue the conversation that he’s obviously trying to discontinue.

So I wait 4 hours and text him again - this time, just a short, plain message, letting him know I’m working with him Tuesday morning. Didn’t want to act all excited or interested, just to get shot down. Tuesday is his first day back after his time off b/c of COVID, and our pharmacy manager had just added my shift like an hour prior. He was really excited & cute about it, said that I made his night telling him that, called me his “little darling”, expressed excitement about having “[his] lover” working on his first day back, and said that hopefully we can sneak a kiss. 

Since he responded so enthusiastically & lovingly and didn’t cut off the convo, I thought maybe now was a good time to talk, so I text back with equal enthusiasm, hoping to keep the convo going. 

Nope - he changes the subject and starts talking about how he’s doing stuff with his stocks & bonds and 401k and starts telling me I should invest once I graduate college & start my career. Okaaaaaay. And then cuts off the convo by saying “come back to you later” with a smiley face. I didn’t even respond because it annoyed & hurt me so much being shot down. Usually, I’ll still respond to whatever he said, and then say, “talk to you later” or something.

Idk, it just seems odd that every single time I text him, which is pretty infrequent compared to how we previously texted, he is always doing something else or has something else to do that prevents him from talking to me. Hurts my feelings. Especially because it seems like stuff that he could do and text me - they’re not mutually exclusive activities. 

I don’t know if he’s trying not to distract me from school since I expressed to him how stressed I am & how much I have to do??? Or if he just doesn’t want to talk? And I don’t know if I should take it personally as though he doesn’t want to talk to me specifically or if this is just his usual way of texting? Maybe he texted me more frequently when we first started sleeping together because he didn’t want to seem like he was gonna fuck me & then ghost me? Or because he was in awe of my pussy?

And now that we’re more settled & comfortable with each other, he feels more comfortable decreasing the frequency to what is standard for him? We didn’t have regular text convos until about a week prior to us sleeping together when things really started heating up. Before then, we’d text sporadically, but I was often the one to initiate and end the convos (because I didn’t know if he was interested in me & was trying to act uninterested in him LOL). So I don’t really know what is truly standard? 

I don’t feel like he’s lost interest in me because his texts are still affectionate, he still calls me cute pet names, and he still talks about spending more time together at his house/future endeavors after his 10-day quarantine ends. His texts have been a little less sexual, but I think that’s because when he was being his usual level of sexual, I “complained” about how he’s teasing me & torturing me because we can’t have sex right now. So I think he’s trying not to frustrate me.

Jokey Tinder profiles are ruining the internet (and online dating, for that matter)

It’s Viral Market Crash week on Mashable. Join us as we take stock of the viral economy and investigate how the internet morphed from a fun free-for-all to a bleak hellscape we just can’t quit.

I remember the halcyon days of the internet when jokey Tinder profiles elicited a genuine chuckle. 

Those days are long gone. 

Six years after Tinder first launched, the internet is flooded with people's thinly veiled attempts to achieve viral fame through their, let's be honest, mildly-amusing-at-best Tinder profiles.

Back when Tinder was still a relatively newfangled concept, we hopeful, hapless daters were getting to grips with the new app like toddlers trying to walk. Every once in a while, someone's earnest attempt to make themselves stand out from the crowd on the app would be shared into our feeds or timelines, inviting the mirth of fellow internetters. But, somewhere along the way, something changed. And, not for the better. 

Around 2014 — two years after Tinder's launch in 2012 — accounts and subreddits dedicated to Tinder-related content began popping up. Instagram accounts like Tinder Nightmares (which has 1.9 million followers) and Tinder Convos (138,000 followers) would share people's amusingly awkward exchanges between swipers. The birth of r/tinder (a community that now has 1.1 million users) three years ago opened up a space where things other than just conversations could be shared, upvoted, and — if funny enough — turned into viral news stories by online media outlets.

One thing was clear: swipers were onto the internet's appetite for lol-worthy messaging fails and jokey dating profiles. For those searching for viral internet fame, they were just one witty bio away from getting a shit ton of followers — a highly prized currency in the internet economy.

Over the course of the next four years, the internet became increasingly more saturated with jokey Tinder profiles. Now, on any given day, if you were to venture down the rabbit hole of r/tinder, you'll see a glut of screenshots of clever profile bios, funny profile pics, creative icebreakers, and screenshots of full-on conversations. Shoulder to shoulder, these Redditors vie for the internet's attention. 

Mark Brill, senior lecturer in Future Media and Digital Communication at Birmingham City University, says that Tinder and other dating apps are just the latest trend in the industry of going viral (or attempting to, at least). 

"Tinder is the current popular choice, but we've seen other ones before that," says Brill. "People were attempting it before with cat gifs previously." Not only are we reaching saturation point with Tinder-related viral content, Brill believes we're also "saturated with people wanting to go viral" — be they individuals or brands. 

Brill thinks that the reason behind the rise of viral Tinder profiles might not always be caused by people's aspirations of viral fame. "Tinder is where a lot of people, particularly younger people, are spending their time," says Brill. It's natural, therefore, that a platform full of young sociable people would give rise to humorous content. 

Life after going viral 

Now, of course, not every single person whose dating profile goes viral is on some quest to find fame. Some are genuinely looking for love, or the odd bit of lust, or even just to make people laugh. In some cases, people unwittingly become viral sensations when strangers tweet out screenshots of their profiles (usually without their consent). In the case of Sam Dixey, a university student who wanted to make his dating profile stand out, this is precisely what happened. 

"Me and a friend decided to make our profiles stand out a little bit with some humour and decided to style them as a PowerPoint presentation," Dixey told Mashable. "Then while I was out playing football it turned out someone who'd come across my profile had screenshotted it and put it on Twitter where it flew from several thousand likes/retweets to nearly 120,000 within a day or two!" 

Dixey's experience turned out to be positive. As planned, his jokey profile got him an increased number of matches after people recognised him from news stories they'd read online. "Everyone seemed to have kind things to say about about how they'd found it funny which was nice to hear," says Dixey. 

There's the odd happy ending too. Niket Biswas' first date after his Tinder profile went viral ended up being his last date. "She said she saw my profile, showed her friends (and mom, thought it was hilarious and after some playful text banter we met up later that night for palomas and totchos," says Biswas. "We've been dating since (we actually just got back from Greece) and are looking at one solid year later this month."

These two examples show that there are people who genuinely just want their profiles to stand out among countless other faces. Not everyone lusts after viral fame. 

But for online daters looking for love, how can we tell the difference between the jokers who just want to date and the jokers who just want a fast-track to viral stardom? The difference isn't always immediately obvious to even the most discerning swipers. 

Be careful what you wish for 

For those who post their own profiles for all the internet to see, sometimes the consequences of going viral aren't quite as glorious as they imagined it to be. When Jesse Mills posted his nude Tinder stunt to r/tinder, he got to witness it blowing up first-hand. "Considering it's kinda NSFW, I was surprised it went as far as it did," says Mills. 

But, pretty much everyone in his rural community saw his photos. And, yes, that did make life a little bit awkward. "Outside of my dating life things were weird for a bit," says Mills. "I'd walk into the pharmacy and get an, 'Oh, look who decided to wear clothes today!' from behind the counter. Everyone I know saw it. My boss saw it." He's since moved to a city, but he does occasionally get comments like "you're remove a layer guy, right?" 

After so many years of profiles going viral, the novelty of the jokes has well and truly worn off — the bar for Tinder humour is pretty high and the chances of going viral are pretty low. The time has come for jokey dating profiles to become a thing of the past (unless you're just a really, really funny person who happens to be looking for love). 

Let's just channel all our energy into using dating apps what they're actually for — chatting to matches and going on dates. Find another route to viral superstardom.

Our First Visit To The Dispensary

DAY 1

Today, June 3rd, 2018, mom and I walked into for the first time a marijuana dispensary. As of January 1st, 2018, you no longer need a medical marijuana card to access THC products at these dispensaries. 

First, let me tell you why the interest in this topic anyways. At my birthday party this year, my good friend, MK, told me she no longer has all the chronic pain that she has suffered with for many years. She has had chronic fatigue syndrome, and an assortment of other auto immune maladies. She said she started taking elixirs that were CBD extracts. CBD extract is from hemp, and lacks any of the chemical THC which makes you get high with weed, grass, or marijuana. She said her life has improved tremendously. She said there is so much promise in these products, and that there are no side effects like you get from so many costly pharmaceuticals. 

I didn’t think too much about this at first, but then I began to add up all the aches, soreness, and chronic painful areas in my body. Since the beginning of the year, I have had sore knees, and different than the strained ligaments that I have had in the past from overuse from bike rides that were either too long in length, or too fast in speed intensity. I, also, have a right shoulder that still gives me aching when riding the bike for almost any distance or length of time. Even after the surgery that I have had over two years ago, the shoulder pain is not totally resolved. Also, since January, I have returned to the Kung Fu San Soo studio in Whittier. All the throw downs of myself have created tennis elbow in my left elbow, and now left shoulder pain. Both, I feel were brought on from slapping the carpet covered Kung Fu studio floor. I slap down the hand or hands to absorb the force of being tossed down on your back or backside. The shock in my not so young body has created the injuries. My lower back on the right side chronically hurts right at the iliac crest. This too may be from impact to the floor. My neck can, also, get sore and stiff from the little dentistry that I now do along with all the other physical traumas I throw at it.

I am not ready to give up the sports I still do. I want to at least advance to the next belt which would be the 1st degree black belt in San Soo. I’m considering cutting back on the hours and distances on the bike. I’m, also, considering cutting out work completely. LOL!

OK, so now we fast forward to yesterday. I, along with two friends, am riding our bikes from Norwalk to Oceanside. Our plan was to take the Amtrak train home from Oceanside after the ride. We started at 7am on Saturday. I have not had any rides over 40 miles since last December. I have cut back on some longer rides since I needed to get to the San Soo Studio to work out. So you see, my cycling training and fitness have been impacted by Kung Fu. I knew this ride would be challenging since I’ve lost some fitness, and had some anxiety about how well I would do. I, also, should not have ridden this Friday. I thought that I could use the ride for more fitness, yet I run the risk of my legs being tired for the Oceanside ride.  

I tried my best not to ride the front much which would put me into the wind, and suck more of the strength and energy from my legs and body. The pace was pretty manageable. I no longer try not to take in carbo gels too early in the ride. i believe in using up and generating energy to my muscles by breaking down fats initially. I know from experience that I will eventually have to start supplementing sometime during the ride or risk “bonking”. Bonking occurs when you are either  out of glycogen in your muscles, and/or in an electrolyte in-balance from sweating too much, losing too much water, or all of the above. What occurs is weakness, dizziness, dry skin, numbness to lips, lower face, arms, etc. You can also get your major leg muscles to spasm. When this happens, your leg or legs will literally lock up, and you are in extreme pain from the contracted muscle in a state of spasm. You literally have tetanus of the muscle or muscles in over use and over fatigue.

At San Clemente we rolled into a 7 Eleven and bought, Gatorade, a banana, and a energy bar that said in it were nuts, honey, and coconuts. This sounded pretty good to me. I, also, had already consumed one energy gel. As we set out to continue our ride, my legs felt better, but not significantly which concerned me a little since the ride had many rollers or slight hills that got your heart rate up, and caused you to use a lot of leg muscle energy. These rollers would continue to be present as we continued southward.

I began to really realize that my fitness was lacking when I saw myself dropping off the pace from my other friends, Tony and Ron. I usually would at least match  Ron to the tops of most hills, but not today. I knew I had to dial back on my efforts or not be able to stay with them at all once the road leveled off.

Finally, at one hill in Camp Pendleton, my left quadriceps started to lock up or spasm. It was slight at first, but I knew what it meant, and that if I didn’t ease up, I could lock up my muscle, and not even be able to turn a pedal revolution. By this time I had fallen behind my  friends by about 700 meters. Tony dropped back to picked me up, and sheltered me from the wind. All of this helped a great deal. Tony mentioned that he had something that would help me. I didn’t hear what it was but figured it was some sort of electrolyte pills. I was familiar with these, but I hadn’t used them in many years. I mumbled that I would tough it out, and get to the end of the ride without what ever he was offering. His closing words were, “just let me know if you want it”. Within another mile, I could feel both legs locking up and the inside of both quadriceps were in spasm and I was in extreme pain. It was a ten out of ten, and yet I know I still had some cycling to do to finish up the ride to the Oceanside train station. 

I finally said to Tony, “what do you have? I need anything to help my cramping legs”. I got off the bike at an intersection at Camp Pendleton’s large shopping center. At this point we had less than 10 miles to go. Tony pulled out a cylinder of plastic smaller than the cardboard tube on the inside of a roll of toilet paper. It was white and shiny with some blue lettering. We looked at my legs, and you could see the muscles tensed, hardened, and actually quivering in a wave movement. There was extreme pain in both legs, with the right being slightly more painful than the left. Tony rolled on this cool liquid liberally on both quads and the back of my left leg. I then rolled down my bib pant legs to cover the area where he just applied the liquid gel. It was a matter of a couple of minutes and the muscles already relaxed, and the pain went away. I got on the bike, and we were off again. it was that simple, and that quick. I was amazed, dumbfounded, and relieved all at the same time. My legs felt improved enough that I was putting in at least 80% effort at this time. To finish the ride was now easy. All I could do was talk about the product. I knew by now that it was a CBD hemp extract in a roll on form for occasions such as this. I was temped to ask Tony to apply it to my shoulders too, but decided I should just go out and get some of the stuff on my own. The train ride back to Norwalk, and the 3 mile bike ride from there to my car  was without any return of the muscle spasms.

DAY 2

Today started by going to Church, lunch at Peking Kitchen, and then on to Allison’s to play with baby, Avery. Playing at this point consists of holding her, and  allow her to sleep more in your arms, or holding and swaying and jostling in the hopes of getting her to stop crying. Either way it is a joy to be with Avery.

After we left Allison’s, we drove to an address on Imperial Hwy. in south Whittier, north of our home. I thought it might be a pharmacy, but had the name, Hot Box. The address put us in front of a run down looking industrial building. It was sort of a horseshoe shaped, single storied series of small businesses, all without much identification on them. The parking was in the middle of the horse shoe. You know what I mean, you see this all the time. Now I realized we were going to go to a medical marijuana dispensary. We immediately saw two armed guards sitting in the shade and pointed to an open door. We walked into a dark room with black painted walls. We spoke to a pleasant young hip looking lady behind a small window, who had us fill out some brief paperwork. She checked our CDR (CA driver’s license), and told us a little bit of how things worked at this place. We then were told to walk through a windowless door. We didn’t feel too threatened. There was another couple who were, also, there for the first time. They said both were partially blind. I felt we were now in good company. We weren’t blind, but we were “old”. Haha!

When we entered, we first saw a glass display case filled with glass vessels of various sizes and shapes most likely for smoking weed. When we turned to the left around a corner, we were into a slightly larger room with more glass display cases full of items of all kinds of colors, sizes, and shapes. Without dwelling too long, I just knew I did not recognize anything that I was familiar with. There were at least a half a dozen young employees all under 30 years of age. They were exceptionally friendly to us, and every new person who entered into the dispensary. In fact, there was a pretty constant stream of one or two people entering or exiting all the time we were in the store.

I told the young lady what I was looking for. “I want a CBD roll on called Living Freeze”. I had called earlier and someone told me that they had the product. However, now it was no longer in their stock. I didn’t want to leave empty handed because I wanted to do something about some of my chronic aches, and I didn’t really want to come back again.  My logic told me to ask about some substitute like a salve or gel. I settled on a 4 oz. jar of CBD salve of 160mg. concentration. This put it a little higher than the 100mg. of the Living Freeze that I had used the day before. More sounds better, right? This jar had the trippy name of Gypsy Magic. With a name like this, and a higher concentration, how could I go wrong. At this point I had high expectations. Now to find out the cost! To my surprise she said it was $45, and I had a 10% discount as a “senior”. (old person again!) I asked why did I have this second card that I was given when I entered. I thought she said it would be for entering me into a “drawing”. OK, prizes! Cool! Just don’t ask me for my address.

She then gave me a small vial with a brown thing in it that looked like the shape of a pencil, but half as long. It was difficult to hear in the place because of the loud music being played in the room, but I swear she was saying something like a “draw or drawing”. At that point I just wanted to leave, go home, and apply my new found “miracle salve”. Anyway, the neatly wrapped joint in the plastic tube is now sitting on my coffee table, and it is wondering why it is being spared from being consumed by fire and inhaled by this senior citizen! 

Shirley and I did our best to try to look and act cool inside the store, but we were definitely out of our element. So glad we weren’t wearing Bermuda shorts and an aloha shirt, and mom with her wide brimmed sun visor! We laughed all the way home, wondering if the employees see many grandparents coming in each day. The “store” opens at 8 am, and closes at 12 am. They have “happy hours” where they offer “specials”. I wouldn’t want to see the nighttime crowd in person that turns out there. 

OK, now for what you have all been waiting for. I went home and decided to rub the salve on one or two areas for starters. I didn’t want to make things too confusing. I rubbed it on my right lower back just at the crest of my pelvis. I, also, rubbed it on my left side of my neck which was tight and sore most probably from the long bike ride. I would bend over to test my lower back pain every few minutes. I honestly felt it improve more than 50%, but never completely went away. My neck improved to a lesser degree, perhaps 30%. 

Day 3

This morning after stretching, I reapplied the salve to my back, neck, and now left shoulder. My expectations have lessened now. The “miracle” that I experienced on the bike ride has not repeated itself with this salve. Is it the fact that I don’t have the Living Freeze roll on? Does the CBD just work better on muscles in spasm? Am i expecting results too soon? 

I know the results of the roll on used at Camp Pendleton was for real. The turn around improvement was obvious. I would like to see that repeated again, but now I am treating injuries, and somewhat chronic injuries. The commonality is that they are all muscle related. I will continue to use the salve, and see if there is any real merit to it. Nevertheless, my injuries are minor compared to what I see others all around me suffering with on a daily basis. I see people fighting for their lives with diseases that no one seems to be able to cure. Life if fun, life is good, but not always for everyone. I do know, however, that God is in control, and that no matter what is going on in our lives, we need to still give Him the glory!

I was covered under my moms health insurance while in college and I was told I needed to be enrolled in school to stay covered, I dropped out a while ago and was wondering if I am still covered by law under the Affordable Care Act since I am only 19. I was covered under my mothers health insurance, she works for a private company and she said that I needed to be enrolled in school in order to stay covered by the insurance. But this was close to a year ago if I'm remembering correctly. The reason I'm worried is because I'm taking a break from college, and have had multiple doctor appointments/tests done after I left, but I never had a problem with the insurance going through.
