Rash Nature - Likes to fight

Melody Sapphire (created in 2018)

Species: Eevee

Modest Nature - Quick to flee

Storm was a failed project to create a stronger breed of Pikachu. Due to his unstable genes, evolution could pose as life-threatening, much to his despair. On the bright side, he's developed rare abilities passed down from his father (unknown) that allow him to fly and traverse water, perfect for helping humans get around. He currently works as a guard 'mon in Celadon Mart, wandering Kanto to learn of his origin in his spare time.

Melody, on the other hand, was born and raised near Celadon City, and is very familliar with battling. She has a fear of evolution, but that doesn't stop her from finding other ways to increase her strength, stealing items from Celadon Mart. She loves swimming when the opportunity presents itself.

Due to Melody stealing from Storm's place of work and their conflicting opinions regarding evolution, the two have developed a fierce rivalry. They tend to butt heads most of the time, which often leads into battles Storm will always win, aggrivating Mel. She learned Dig as a counter for his type-weakness.

Despite it all, Storm notices her ability to adapt to situations and finds it admirable, while Mel simply can't help but challenge him every time they meet, because his enthusiasm for battling excites her-- no matter how little she can stand him, he's always fun to be around! The people of Celadon find their rivalry adorable, and unintentionally, the two attract more customers this way. Thus, they fight on, hoping to get stronger with every battle, not yet realizing the strength they find in each other.

Since i was digging around Let's Go! for text samples, I pulled all the shared size posters, specifically. They mostly appear random and not even encrypted within the confines of any individual art asset. The one seeming exception being the Pokemon Red & Green poster, but even that has a discrepancy in a repeated characters where there shouldn't be one.

It's funny I've been poking at Pokemon's use of these scripts across so many games now, yet the only time they ever actually turned out to have a clear and consistent methodology behind it was in Galar. Every other game really doesn't commit to the idea. But timeline wise this one was actually the first to start subbing in a fantasy script with distinct characters and some degree of graphic design, even if most of it sticks to one basic font.

Of note there are a few scant assets specifically around Pewter and Cerulean that seem to suggest there was a phase of early development before the cipher script was complete, where they used random shapes instead. (Not featured here but the most noticeable discrepancy being that the bike shop in Cerulean has shapes on its front windows and welcome mat, but actual script on the front door.)

Curiously this earliest version of what I'm just going to call the "Kanto Script" only uses 13 unique characters, but when Brilliant/Shining revisits its usage it actually expands on that character count substantially, and that same expanded script is carried forward into Legends Arceus. And those later additions make a very distinctive break from the Kanto base script's rigid geometric shapes, utilizing a lot more rounded arcs and flared strokes, as well as adding subtle kanji-like stroke shapes to preexisting base Kanto characters.

Things That Have Been Bringing Me Joy Lately

Witchy Precure- started watching it on Crunchyroll the other day; they added it and Go Princess Precure!

Stray Gods The Role Playing Musical- The most dynamic and fun visual novel game I've played to date. Got it last week & currently on a second playthrough beforeI do the Orpheus DLC

Let's Go Pikachu- finally leveled my team to 45-46 and beat Sabrina's Gym. Took a lot of work, between doing the alternate route near Saffron City and going to Cinnabar Island. Now I can do the Cinnabar Island gym; already got the key to unlock it

TIL that the maximum stat boost possible from candy in Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee is +200, and those last 50 points can only be gotten from species-specific candy.

I now have a level 5 Pidgey (nicknamed "Clever Girl") with perfect IVs and with stats comparable to the level 60+ Pokémon in my main party. We'll see how she fares against the Pidgey Master Trainer and the Elite Four once this catch chain is done :P

Did you know that even if your Catch Combo is above 1,000 Pokémon in Let's Go, Pikachu! & Eevee! the summary screen's counter will only go up to 999 Pokémon caught?
