it's literally not a good idea in any way shape or form but I want to get a second job in fast food
#it's not a good idea bc the wages are GARBAGE compared to retail#Macca's base rate for my age is less than half my sunday rate#and they don't get much beyond the base rate#whereas retail we have an incredible base rate AND more weekdays past 6pm and weekends (sat is the same as mon-fri 6pm#and sunday is significantly more)#and like yeah im not getting many shifts but if i were to ask for more I still wouldn't be able to work more than 4 hour shifts til july#bc my retail corporation is surprisingly ethical and extends the age limits by a lot#whereas my friend has a 7.5 half hour shift tomorrow AFTER school. on a week night 😁#which is actually horrifying and should nawwt be legal. thats school 9-3 (+20 min) then work 4-11:30 btw#like i should just wait til my birthday in july n ask for more shifts in retail but i want to try fast food#even though the pay is incredibly ridiculously bad (<10 AUD) (yes our adult minimum wage is a good ~23 but under 21 is a percentage of that#like the pay is so bad so i would earn the same or more doing wayy less hours than retail#but i kinda want to get the fast food experience bc it'll be more difficult to get hired as i age#bc i want to save up 20k for top surgery but at the rate im going it'll be difficult to have even thay#let alone savings after top surgery or money to get a car before#and as school gets more difficult it'll be harder to work more#so maybe i should just grind for a few months or til the end of the year then go back to retail exclusively?#and enjoy higher pay and some longer shifts?#but idkkk it's just such a dilemma bc i want more shifts than I'll get at retail but fast food pays so little#but i also really want the experience and to just try it out#im gonna. idk im gonna sit on it for a bit bc i want to get my legal name change sorted before i apply to any second jobs and that will#take a while#so i shall consider. draw up a timetable. write a pros and cons list#yes that sounds like a solid plan#whoop typo but im on mobile i meant 'wayy less hours IN retail'

OUAT Appreciation Week
Day 3 and 4
Yesterday I had a horrible headache and couldn't do screens. Sorry. Here's both answers... and you know... if you haven't figured out by now that this is going to be heavily centric on the Golds... Well... I don't know what to tell ya.
I've got two favorite origin stories, actually... And yeah.. even the one that /isn't'/ the Golds /is/ the Golds... in a few round about ways.
Tumblr media
So yeah, these two are the origin stories I love the most. Rumple and the Rogers (Killian Jones, from the wish realm). First of all, how can you not love the painful yet lovely arc that is Rumple's whole story. And second to that, the fleshing out of Rogers as a character without Emma, as someone searching for something that isn't romance with a woman... How he changed over his existence... All of that. Yeah.
I guess you can say I'm a sucker for fathers trying to be the best they can be. Giving their all for their kids. Who knows if that's why I like these the best, but there's that.
Here's a fic of them for you. Kinda shoddy, but a fic all the same.
And my favorite Plot Twist?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah. All about the Golds.
Now, to be fair, there have been some awesome plot twists... I've even tried to get a few of my own into upcoming parts of the continued saga of Storybrooke, when Gideon returns...
So how about a spoiler for that one too? But let's make it interactive, shall we?
How do you think these two:
Tumblr media
BOTH end up connecting to branches of the Gold family tree?
And before you ask, yes, they each do it in their own way, Grace isn't carried in by Jefferson and plopped down through genetic connection alone.

Craving For Something Spiritual
MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK
=========================
+ James 5:13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.
=========================
VERSE OF THE DAY
========================
+  1 Peter 2:2-3 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
=========================
** SAY THIS BEFORE YOU READ; HERE’S SOME CHRISTIAN TRUTHS **
I AM MATURE
I AM GROWING
I AM HEARING GOD
I AM LETTING GO OF OLD WAYS
========================
READ TIME: 7 minutes & 40 Seconds
========================
THOUGHTS:
=======================
When I crave something, I usually can't stop craving it until I have it. It can be cake, pies, ice cream, whatever. I want it, and I get it the next day. I think I have told you all about this new ice cream place here. I saw in an email that they had this new ice cream, and I wanted to try it, but it was packed each time I went by there.
One day, I went, and they had changed their opening time. The next day, I couldn’t go, but this weekend, I didn’t care what I had to do. I was going to get that ice cream shop. Well, I got it. That night, I got home and sat down. I ate it, which was everything I hoped for and more, but I wanted to save some of it for the next day. But when I say the ice cream was great, it was terrific.
Do you see how much I kept trying to get the ice cream? How many of us have a craving like this for God's word that we realize we must have and need it? How many of you see that we can't function
spiritually without it?? How many of us try to soak in his word?
Mathew 4:4 But He answered and said, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.’
Today's word says we should crave it like newborns crave milk. How many of us crave it daily to have it in our lives? A lot of us don’t because as we crave the word, it has the supernatural power to change what’s in us around us; it has the power to pierce even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit and the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. It has this amazing power, and many of us are ready to read but not change.
The word of God tells us to walk in a manner worthy, but how can we walk this way if we never read our word to walk in that way??? the only way to know it is to read it and not just read it but apply it; how many of you are applying the word to your lives?
Psalm 34:8 Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
We must taste the word and try to see how great God is because when we do, we will always go to him and make him our refuge. The problem is today, we make everything else a refuge and safety net, and we make everything else our everything, but do we do this with God?
Psalm 9:10 Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
The Holy Spirit tells us we must trust him; it's like our houses. We trust and believe that whoever built our homes did it right, so when we sleep at night, we won't have to worry about things on the outside getting in; we trust our accounts to hold our money, we trust our jobs to give us what we need from it but why can't we trust in God for everything, why can't we trust that when we pray to him, he hears us and that every craving that we look for or everything we look for in everything else we can have that with him.
1 Corinthians 3:1-2 But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now, you are not yet ready,
Some of us aren’t ready; we want to be ready for solid food, but just like infants, we can’t give them a jar of baby food if they aren’t at that stage in their lives; we have to make sure that a baby can handle that kind of food and that’s just like us, God has to make sure that the spiritual food we are partaking in we can digest it because if we can’t it will cause us to retreat to what we know that’s comfortable and that’s what we all are looking for, which is Comfort .
Sometimes, in our walk, things aren’t comfortable; things will be challenging, but if we do it with God, if we go with God, it won’t harm us. Babies must be monitored when they eat to make sure the baby doesn’t choke. God is sitting back, He knows how much pressure will help change us and what kind of pressure will divert us. But we must trust in God, through our development.
Having a craving for something is good, but we need to make sure what we are craving won’t change us. Paul knew what the Corinthians needed and what they could handle; 1 Corinthians 14:20 Brothers, do not be children in your thinking. Be infants in evil, but in your thinking, be mature”.
He told them not to be children in their thinking but to be mature in their thinking; we have to start growing and changing our mindset as we grow in God; we can’t stay the same even though a lot of us aren’t ready because we won’t let go of the bitterness and the petty actions, and unnecessary fights why because we don’t want to let go, but to grow in God we must let go!
***Today, we learned what we must and should do and that cravings are inevitable, but what are we craving? God wants us to grow to be bigger and better, and God wants us to let go of how we used to do things.
Job 17:9 Yet the righteous holds to his way, and he who has clean hands grows stronger and stronger.
We grow strong as we have clean hands; a lot of us don’t pay any attention to the activities we get into or the things we say, we just do whatever we feel, but as we live a clean life, we grow strong in God, and we grow stronger in our walk. Some of us must take the time to see where we are in our walk with Christ and what we need to improve. Have you asked him? If you haven’t asked him today, see what he says, and work on improving for him! ©Seer~ Prophetess Lee
========================
PRAYER
========================
Heavenly Father, thank you for the word; today, we ask you to help us see what we need to improve on, help us seek you every day, and help us change according to you. Lord, help us also to crave things of the spirit. Lord, we give you our lives and praise you for everything. Lord, we need you so badly, and we realize this; we thank you in Jesus' Name Amen

oh hun, and anon whose birthday was Idk when (hbd by the way! and don't worry, you're still young, love) if you guys feel old, how am I supposed to feel (early 90s baby here) 😖
the only reason I have not gone insane this week over the lack of wygig, has been weariness. first time I'm actually thankful for my shitty working hours.
and you know who IS going insane?? my brother! who actually has normal working hours! good for you maddie, having a random man drooling across the world, crawling up walls waiting for your moment to come back. (talking as if I was not the same) and nahh, the fisting is nothing. they've seen me read this stuff for yeaaaars. well not exactly but you get what I mean
honestly I shall praise. I have nothing else to do right now, and as I can't over analyze this week's chapter, I must yap about why I love your way of writing. and over analyze the snippet.
1. your way of writing is one of my favorites in ao3. you have this talent to get in people's heads and make them NEED to see more. crack. cocaine. I guess my mom would be much more happy that her children are addicted to this rather than irl drugs. mad(s) respect for that.
2. you're kinda a mastermind as well. everything is so well thinked and planned. kudos to saiyanwitcher as well for helping you out with this one. beautiful.
3. your characterization kills it. look, I've NEVER met this people, let alone think they would actually be in this situation. but. if they had to go through something like it. this is the way I think they would be like. I can bet on it. swear even. it just. fits. lovely.
4. I love that you make these long chapters that feel like nothing. you just inhale them. every time I read you I'm always looking at the little bar in the screen that tells how far along we are. I just don't want it to end. but even if you leave a cliffhanger, the chapters always feel complete. like it was meant to finish there. no more no less no further ahead. perfect.
5. I love how you engage with us. feed us crumbs and see how the world sets in fire, sometimes going insane with us too. is just refreshing. I like to imagine you in your couch, throwing us a bone and laughing at how we go nuts about it.
+1. I love the Max crush that you created in me. thank you very much for that. lives were changed. eyes were opened.
+2. my brother and I were going crazy over jealous Charlie. I quote him "oh lui è innamorato. che bello. y no se da cuenta! sei molto stupido Charle" (that's 'oh he is in love. and he doesn't even realize! you are very stupid Charle' for you) Imagine that with angry hand movements and frustrated pacing through a kitchen with a pan on his hand. proper italian, my brother. lost some points throwing some spanish in there but I would still give him like a 8.3/10 for the performance. go and sink us even more in the stereotype/jk
+3. I was today years old when I found out saiyan was the way english speakers write saiyajin. I even had to google and triple check it because I wasn't sure whether it was actually like that or my dislexic brain was just messing with me.
all to say. I love everything you write. give me that fire changed my brain chemistry first. I also found out way too much later than I would've wanted that it was your fic as well. not today but still not so long ago. lovely beautiful thing it was too.
birthday anon started it!!!
also what can I say ... thats my sheer power .. random men drooling across the world ... 💅 but also, them knowing that you read that stuff and reading it with you is very different I fear.
thank you 😭😭 that's very kind, and I'm so happy that that's the effect it has. it's exactly the effect I want!
@saiyanwitcher is the real mastermind tbh. I just write it!
personally I think characterisation is one of my strongest points as a writer, so I'm glad that it hits for you like it does for me!
ahhh I'm so glad they go fast! sometimes I write a chapter and I'm like ... this is 10k of absolutely nothing .. how boring.
I do absolutely laugh, I'm sorry. I laugh a lot.
+1. I'm so glad I've encouraged you to see the light. my Max crush rages fiercely every single day.
+2. YOU'RE ITALIAN?! please remind your brother that my DMs are open if he and his gf break up.
+3. I'll be so for real. I have no idea what you're talking about.
omgggg I'm so glad you loved GMTF too. my fave fic of mine tbh.
thanks for dropping in as always!!

Oh I'm so curious abt the story behind the titles 2, 3, 4, 10 and 12 (> A <)
Number 2
"Father, forgive me for i have sinned."
It's also for Halbarry week, he planned to use it for "Holy and Sinner" day.
Originally this story was going to be unrelated to the whole event and it was going to be a long story, but I was lazy to finish it and didn't know how to extend it too much, so I made it short.
It's inspired by a theme I saw in the couple's Hispanic community.
It's wartime, Barry is a priest who hides people in his church.
However, one day his altar boy, Wally, finds a wounded man and lets him know.
Barry heals and cares for him despite being on the opposing side.
Little by little, he falls in love with this man even though he knows that he is committing a mortal sin in doing so.
I don't have anything written yet, so I'll put the phrase from the bible that I'm drawing inspiration from.
"Therefore I say to you, All sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven" (Matthew 12:31).
Number 3.
"A date?"
It was a fic I had written as a Valentine's Day and a gift for Hal's birthday."
The idea is simple.
Hal invites Barry to dinner just the two of them under the pretext of celebrating his birthday and Valentine's Day.
Diana doesn't believe them.
"So, Hal asked you to be his Valentine?" Diana asks with an excited smile, to which Barry snorts and shakes his head. But are they going on a date? "It's not a date," Barry replies for the fifth time that night. "Hal found a place where there's a buffet on sale for Valentine's Day and he wants to go to celebrate Valentine's Day and his birthday, so he doesn't spend double." "That sounds like a terrible excuse to ask you out on a date," Diana replies, but Barry ignores her as he takes one last look in the mirror. "It's a terrible excuse, because aren't he´s inviting me to any appointments? "Please," Diana snorts, throwing herself on her bed. "We all know they've been in love with each other since the first time they saw each other in college, and if they haven't made a move, it's because they're both cowards, who still think they don't like each other when they're always flirting."
Number 3.
"I got there first"
It's an alternate universe where Hal and Barry were childhood friends. It's a bit short, the idea is that there will be maybe two or three parts.
It's about a little Hal who is upset that his brother Jack convinced his mother to get him a babysitter, he never expected that babysitter to become his best friend.
"Hal looks him up and down, the boy looks honest, but Hal doesn't know if he can be trusted. "Shall we start over?" the blond boy says, shyly approaching Hal, standing a couple of inches in front of him. "I'm Barry Allen, I'm twelve years old and I promise I'm not some kind of mini spy for your brother, I'm just coming here to keep you from getting hurt being alone." "I'm Hal, and I don't need you to take care of me, Barry; But you can stay. Barry's smile grows when he sees Hal stretch out his hand and the boy didn't hesitate to take it showing him a big smile. Hal feels a strange warmth spread across his chest as he sees the boy older than him smile at him and follow him attentively to his words. Maybe Barry can be a good guy."
Number 10.
"Pretend, Study and Love."
It's alternate universe where they're young and Barry and Hal study together.
Hal wants his teachers to believe that he has changed and decides that the best way to make his change believable is that he changed by the power of love, but he is not in any relationship, so he convinces Barry to pretend to be her boyfriend, everything is complicated by maybe Barry is not faking his feelings
"'Haven't you noticed how all the masters look at them funny when they see them together and start whispering?" she asks. "Iris once overheard them talking about the possibility that you will force him to do your jobs in secret and pretend to be friends so that no one will suspect." "But I don't do that!" he cried angrily, "I would never hurt him!" He's my best friend! "I know, silly," she says, forcing him to lower his voice. "But they don't believe in that, as do most of the school."
Number 12.
"Anonymus letter"
That was one of the first Halbarry fanfics I wrote that I didn't finish or publish. Ha Ha Ha.
It's about Barry who decides to propose on Valentine's Day to his best friend, because he fears his reaction he prefers to write him an anonymous letter that is not so anonymous because Hal knows his handwriting.
Everything goes worse than expected.
It is inspired by the DCSHG animated series.
I don't have anything handy because the draft was in my old Wattpad account, but I'm going to try to get it back as soon as possible to see when I can finish it.

2024.. we finished moving into our own home yesterday. we bought a place in a mobile home park i’m a trailer park gay now. leaving the dogshitpisshell we left in 2023. and we have the duckies!!
i’m still so. tired. but i’m happy. i didn’t realize i was so miserable for so many months. like summer and on.. it just sucked. we felt obtrusive, like burdens, and couldn’t cook anymore.. like living with a woman i have known since middle school? fine. living with her, her mid 40s bf, and his three fucking kids? in a 3bd, 1 of which we rent? hell no lol. they never even introduced me, it’s been months but i don’t know those kids names. living with drunks esp drunks with children and dogs.. no. no. friday there were 6 separate dog shits in the bathroom that used to be ours and it’s like 6 sims tiles, including the tub.. it’s mad disgusting. so happy to be done. sad my “friend” is such no longer, hasn’t been. she has seemed unhappy this last year and well like hm maybe you shouldn’t let a man 10+ years older than you just raise his 3 kids like 1 week into dating. just a thought. but whatever, she has a broke dumb shit man to drink with and 3 kids who ain’t hers to mind. (they don’t mind them—the abject neglect was so painful to watch. imagine being under 10 years old and your family gives so few fucks about you, you can stay up watching yt until 4 am. on a school night. this was a regular occurrence. there was one day she wasn’t home and her bf didn’t even change his kids into pjs. they laughed. we were horrified.) quite sad, she could have been a much better, different person. she was my first romance when we were 14; it didn’t last long, we were too different. so i shouldn’t be surprised we are still too different to be friends. (still thinking about how she said it would be so embarrassing to be on tumblr these days). there’s still old pics of me and a bday card i made her in the old place from high school. they were there before us, and only they shall remain.
our new place is great, one town up from mine, and smaller. more average people here. no blue lives matter flags. it’s gonna be $$$ to keep it, lot fees alone are rent for apartments in other parts of the country, but she’s ours.. 1600 square feet, 2bd, 2ba. backyard big enough to keep the duckies as emotional support animals. it’s 70s but reno’d, roof is new, porch turned into an extension. vaulted ceilings, carpet only in the bedrooms, full size kitchen !! huge closets. we will set up the extension with art and craft tables, wife will have room in the main living space for an office. it’s gonna be really nice to unpack for the first time in 2 years. come visit !!!
most importantly is we don’t have to mask at home anymore, and the bathroom is accesible so i’ll be able to get my hysto done. i need it too, jesus i was so skinny post covid and now i’ve chunked back up and then some. like i just want my fucking clothes to fit and stop cramping and breaking out and having mood swings. so that will be good..
sláinte agus áthas to you all in the new year 🙏✨💕

24th July >> Mass Readings (USA)
Monday, Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time
or
Saint Charbel Makhlouf, Priest.
Monday, Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time
(Liturgical Colour: Green: A (1))
First Reading Exodus 14:5-18 They will know that I am the Lord when I receive glory through Pharaoh.
When it was reported to the king of Egypt that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his servants changed their minds about them. They exclaimed, “What have we done! Why, we have released Israel from our service!” So Pharaoh made his chariots ready and mustered his soldiers – six hundred first-class chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt, with warriors on them all. So obstinate had the LORD made Pharaoh that he pursued the children of Israel even while they were marching away in triumph. The Egyptians, then, pursued them; Pharaoh’s whole army, his horses, chariots and charioteers, caught up with them as they lay encamped by the sea, at Pi-hahiroth, in front of Baal-zephon.
Pharaoh was already near when the children of Israel looked up and saw that the Egyptians were on the march in pursuit of them. In great fright they cried out to the LORD. And they complained to Moses, “Were there no burial places in Egypt that you had to bring us out here to die in the desert? Why did you do this to us? Why did you bring us out of Egypt? Did we not tell you this in Egypt, when we said, ‘Leave us alone. Let us serve the Egyptians’? Far better for us to be the slaves of the Egyptians than to die in the desert.” But Moses answered the people, “Fear not! Stand your ground, and you will see the victory the LORD will win for you today. These Egyptians whom you see today you will never see again. The LORD himself will fight for you; you have only to keep still.”
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. And you, lift up your staff and, with hand outstretched over the sea, split the sea in two, that the children of Israel may pass through it on dry land. But I will make the Egyptians so obstinate that they will go in after them. Then I will receive glory through Pharaoh and all his army, his chariots and charioteers. The Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I receive glory through Pharaoh and his chariots and charioteers.”
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Exodus 15:1bc-2, 3-4, 5-6
R/ Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory.
I will sing to the LORD, for he is gloriously triumphant; horse and chariot he has cast into the sea. My strength and my courage is the LORD, and he has been my savior. He is my God, I praise him; the God of my father, I extol him.
R/ Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory.
The LORD is a warrior, LORD is his name! Pharaoh’s chariots and army he hurled into the sea; the elite of his officers were submerged in the Red Sea.
R/ Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory.
The flood waters covered them, they sank into the depths like a stone. Your right hand, O LORD, magnificent in power, your right hand, O LORD, has shattered the enemy.
R/ Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory.
Gospel Acclamation Psalm 95:8
Alleluia, alleluia. If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Matthew 12:38-42 At the judgment the queen of the south will arise with this generation and condemn it.
Some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Jesus, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” He said to them in reply, “An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. Just as Jonah was in the belly of the whale three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. At the judgment, the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and there is something greater than Jonah here. At the judgment the queen of the south will arise with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and there is something greater than Solomon here.”

(Readings for the memorial)
(There is a choice today between the readings for the ferial day (Monday) and those for the memorial. The ferial readings are recommended unless pastoral reasons suggest otherwise)
First Reading Sirach 3:17-24 Humble yourself and you will find favor with God.
My child, conduct your affairs with humility, and you will be loved more than a giver of gifts. Humble yourself the more, the greater you are, and you will find favor with God. The greater you are, the more you must humble yourself in all things, and you will find grace before God. For great is the power of God; by the humble he is glorified. What is too sublime for you, seek not, into things beyond your strength search not. What is committed to you, attend to; for it is not necessary for you to see with your eyes those things which are hidden. With what is too much for you meddle not, when shown things beyond human understanding. Their own opinion has misled many, and false reasoning unbalanced their judgment. Where the pupil of the eye is missing, there is no light, and where there is no knowledge, there is no wisdom.

Responsorial Psalm Psalm 15:2-3a, 3bc-4ab, 5

He who walks blamelessly and does justice; who thinks the truth in his heart and slanders not with his tongue.
R/ The just one shall live on your holy mountain, O Lord.
Who harms not his fellow man, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor; By whom the reprobate is despised, while he honors those who fear the LORD.
R/ The just one shall live on your holy mountain, O Lord.
Who lends not his money at usury and accepts no bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be disturbed.
R/ The just one shall live on your holy mountain, O Lord.

What will there be for us?” Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you that you who have followed me, in the new age, when the Son of Man is seated on his throne of glory, will yourselves sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. On The Run But Not Alone | 1 Samuel 21
Are you lonely, like David, a "man on the run"?
Welcome to the Daily Devo. I am Vince Miller.
Remember, tomorrow, we will air a new episode of The Vince Miller Show entitled "Beliefs That Hold You Back." If you have Video Access on our website, this episode is already available; if not, wait until tomorrow. Be in prayer for this Show. We have invested a lot of time and money into this effort, and we hope this will reach out in a new way so others will be able to hear the Gospel.
This week, here in the Daily Devo, we are in 1 Samuel 21. I've titled this chapter "Man On The Run."
David will be on the run for a long time, approximately 12-15 years. In the last chapter, he ran to Naioth in Ramah to Samuel and then back to the rocks in Gibeah. In this chapter, he will run to Nob (the location of the Tabernacle) and then to Gath (the home of Goliath). There will be many more locations, 16 in all, that we will list in the coming chapters (i.e., the Cave of Adullam, the king of Moab at Mizpeh, "the stronghold" maybe Masada, the forest of Hereth, Keilah, the wilderness of Ziph, the wilderness of Maon, strongholds of Engedi, "the stronghold" maybe Masada again, the wilderness of Paran, and the finally back to Achish, the king of Gath.)
So, I will not give you a key verse for this chapter this week. (If I did, I would pick 1 Samuel 21:4.)
Instead, I will share a private excerpt from David's journal during this emotional time, which reveals a lot about what is going on in his mind.
But first, I want you to imagine how lonely David felt in these moments. He has been separated from his family and will never speak to his biological father ever again. His father-in-law (King Saul) wants to kill him and has given a charge to the Israelite army to hunt him down. His wife (Michal) and best friend (Jonathan) cannot communicate with him. He cannot take refuge in Samuel in the Naioth at Ramah. David is a fugitive, a man on the run. At the end of this chapter, David hides in Gath, which is in Philistia, the enemy of Israel, and acts like a madman here to preserve his life from King Saul. There could be no more lonely moment for David.
However, during this chapter, David made two journal entries, Psalms 34 and 56. And I want to read a portion of Psalm 34 for you today so you can see what David is thinking.
The title of this Psalm in your Bible might say:
"Of David, when he changed his behavior before Abimelech, so that he drove him out, and he went away."
The name "Abimelech" is a title like "President" or "King," and the man this refers to is named Achish, or "Abimelech Achish" who is the focus of 1 Samuel 21:10-15. Here is what he writes.
I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together! — Psalm 34:1-3
The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry. The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken. Affliction will slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned. The Lord redeems the life of his servants; none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned. — Psalm 34:15-22
Even though David is alone and a man on the run, he knows he is never alone. And some of you need to hear this today. If God is with you, you are never alone. David preached, journaled, wrote, and sang this truth to his heart, mind, and soul. He put his hand to paper, his lip to song, his heart to prayer in those lonely moments in the enemy land, pretending to be a madman to stay alive as God's anointed, and God was with him.
In lonely moments, never forget that with God, you are never alone. Preach this truth to your soul. Sing about it. Read about it. Write about it. Believe it. God is a deliverer. He is near, not far.
And don't forget that during these years, God slowly built an army of hundreds of men around David who followed him from the Struggling Fugitive Years to the Soldiering Fighting Years.
#NeverAlone, #FaithInTheWilderness, #GodWithUs
Ask This:
When have you felt most alone, and how did you remind yourself of God's presence during that time?
Like David, how can you preach truth to your soul in moments of fear or loneliness? What practical steps can you take today?
Do This:
Preach to your soul, "I am not alone, God is with me."
Pray This:
Lord, in my moments of loneliness, help me to remember that You are always with me, even when I feel abandoned. Give me the strength to trust in Your presence and to find refuge in Your unfailing love. Amen.
Play This:
I Am Not Alone.

Pics: Humor - In a Lovecraftian Vein.
1915: HPL's Output.
Intro: "The Simple Speller's Tale" is 1 of Howard's many attempts to steer his fellow UAPA members into using old- style English the same way he did.
In this particular effort, he tried to do so - with tongue in cheek.
In a reversal, HPL actually takes the side of 'modern' writers & equates their spelling usage with madness!
However, I've read of no other UAPA member who tried to follow in his footsteps...
The Work:
"When first among... amateurs I fell, I blushed in shame because I could not spell."
"Though skilled in numbers & at ease in prose, My letters I could never well dispose¹."
"Thoughts came abundant, language was the same; Yet none the less I... could (not) spell my name!"
"The kindly printer (with an eye for trade), A clumsy care for... my work displayed."
"Indifferent as I was, I used his art, Til critics cried, "My printer should be shot!"
"(So) boldly censured, I began to seek, A means to (prevent) the... reviewers' clique."
"My... eye in rage I cast around, When the wished-for plan I found."
"It happened on a Summer's holiday, That (thru) a madhouse gate I took my way."
"Within that bedlam² was a sage con- fined, Who... from too much study lost his mind."
"... Strolling out, in (his) watchful keeper's care, With childish sounds the madman filled the air."
"Still dreaming of his lettered days of yore, His ravings on remembered subjects bore."
"Dim came... what he used to teach, And he began to curse our... speech."
"... (Said) he, "The men that made our tongue, Were rogues... I shall have hung."
"For long established customs what care we? Come, let's tear down etymology³."
"Let spelling fly & (nothing) but sound remain; The world is mad & I alone am sane."
"(So) raved the sage; inventing, as he walked, A hundred ways to spell as talked."
"He simplified til his fancy bred, A system... as simple as his head."
"(A) scholar(ly) change he wrought, And altered, as he went, for want of thought."
"But I, attentive, heard with joyful ear, Wild distortions & perversions queer⁴."
"Why could not I defend my ill-spelled page? In progress' name & with (a) re- former's rage?"
"With hope renewed, I (hurried) home to write, And passing wonderful was my work that night."
"For classic⁵ purity I sought no more, But (made) worse blunders than before!"
"Oh fickle fortune! In a week my name, From scholar's praise attained (some) immortal fame."
"(While) other scribes with vague orthography⁶, Seized on the clever ruse & copied me."
"Today in every Skateville Amateur⁷, (Shapeless) letters pass as language pure."
"And when some... (perfectionist⁸) dares to raise, A voice (opposing) our (own) ways."
"We (know) the apt (remark) to give, (And) damn him as a... Conservative⁹!"
"Yet why on us your angry hand or wrath use? We do but ape Professor B_ M_¹⁰!"
Footnotes:
1. To arrange in a certain position.
2. Bedlam was originally the name of a London mental asylum.
The Bethlem Hospital became such a landmark, that it was visited by many tourists!
Which usually came with donations & charitable contributions...
Originally, the place was a monastery called Saint Mary of Bethlehem.
But, by the 1400s, the place became "a shelter for strangers in need."
Over time, Bedlam specialized in caring for those who couldn't care for themselves - especially the mad.
The place appears in many plays & ballads - including in Shakespeare's Hamlet & Macbeth!!
In 1676, the hospital was rebuilt to look more like a palace, complete with formal gardens & Corinthian columns!
Beggars started to pretend they were lunatics to avoid being sent to prison or a workhouse.
The palatial hospital survived til 1815, when it was torn down.
3. Etymology is the study of the changes that words go thru with the unfolding of time.
Scholars use it to find a word's origin & the change in meaning that word has gone thru.
4. Queer here would have meant "odd, peculiar, eccentric."
But, earlier it described things that were about "to spoil" or become a "ruin."
Even earlier, queer was something of a "puzzle, derision" or a "cheat."
As slang, however, it had several other meanings thruout time:
A. "To shove the queer" was actually, "To pass counterfeit money!"
B. "Queer Street" was an imaginary land peopled with persons & shady characters going thru difficulties...
C. "Queer as Dick's hatband" meant "being out of order without knowing one's disease."
D. "Queer Bitch" was an "odd, out of the way fellow."
E. "Queer Ken" described "a prison."
F. "Queer Mort" meant "a diseased strumpet."
G. "Queer Rooster" was an informer - who got his info by pretending to be asleep."
H. "To queer the pitch" described a traveling tradesman's & a showman's 'performance' being "interfered with" - usually by a policeman.
The "homosexual" sense appears by 1922.
5. The sense here seems to be classic English not Classical Roman & Greek.
So, Lovecraft's beloved 1800s English.
6. Orthography means "the correct spelling & punctuation for any used language."
7. Skateville is a city in Minnesota. One of Howard's friends, D.A. Wandrei, was from St. Paul.
Wandrei actually hitchhiked all the way from Minnesota - to visit HPL in Providence!
Later in life, Wandrei & A. Derleth co- founded Arkham House to keep Love- craft's stories in print.
Without this venture it's doubtful that Howard's work would ever have be- come as popular as they are right now.
But, HPL is probably writing about some amateur press association in Skateville...
8. Lovecraft has to be parodying him- self here in these 2 couplets.
9. This was the name of Howard's own political magazine The Conservative, in which this poem 1st appeared.
10. What last human name rhymes with "use"?
Could be interesting...
Also, HPL was talking about the now discredited teaching 'technique' of hitting (& shouting at?) students.
End.

Day 7(4/14/24)
uhhh- when the hell did Iast write in this shit? I deadass don't know, ok anyways... A LOT has happened these past couple of months so let's begin shall we.
Let's start with the highs:
Me and Van/Vanni have been dating for about 9 months now and I don't regret a single moment of it at all. The reason why I put Van is because he's Genderfuild and he's feeling like a femboy currently so I'm calling him Van for right now. Ever since I met Van I've never been more madly in love with someone my entire life... Van maintained that perfectness inside of him, he's just so beautiful and cute he's just oh my god... He's so amazing... I couldn't have asked for a better partner than him.. I love him so much... Thank you God for answering our prayers and having us be together. We're gonna be reaching 10 on the 29th and guess what... I wouldn't change a thing at all.... I just wish we can be together irl.... But God I know you'll make that happen... And guess what once that day comes I'm never letting Van go. His regression just makes him cuter... Every time he's in a mindset of a toddler or just a wittle baby boy or girl he just get so much cuter... And I love taking care of him*smiles* it's like I'm actually taking care of a wittle baby hehehe... And the fact he has a Paci named Nunu as well bro... Jesus Christ... That's literally a perfect name for a Paci... Jesus Christ I love this boy to fucking death he's just perfect... Van Van if you're reading this I love you so much, and I always will.. more than anything on this entire planet with all my heart
The Rp: I love it. I wouldn't change a thing about
Van Van and the RP are the only positive things that happened... now onto the negatives and there are A LOT!
College: I'm stressed TF out rn and my friend group is fucking annoying. They're so annoying to the point where I don't even talk to them outside at school. Like bro deadass it's always "Yo Bro where you at", or "Jordie what's the answer to this or Jordie I need help or Jordie blah blah blah" Nadia with all do respect shut the fuck up and go meat ride your fat ass on someone's dick that isn't m- oh wait a minute at least I know how to pull a guy(Van) if I wanted too. Thank god I have Van/Vanni I don't want that disgusting pig of a bitch and Van/Vanni is the only girl/guy I WANT. Atp I should literally suggest she goes into a pig pen and fuck all of the pigs inside of it.
Don't even get me started on Juan Pablo bro. Nigga is deadass annoying and doesn't know how or WHEN to SHUT THE FUCK UUUUUPPPPPPPPPPP. And how tf do you let yourself nearly get groomed by a 30 year old man on Grindr. In fact why the hell do you have it TOO BEGIN WITH!? It literally took Sley to intervene and shit before you actually did something you regret and you even lied about your age... you told the man you were 18!?!!!! What the actual fuck is wrong with your retarded ass JP. WHY WOULD YOU FUCKING DO THAT!!?? Jordie calm down it's fine y'all talked about it and that's ok he knows not to do that shit now. I know I know, but I don't want him to get groomed let alone get fucking robbed or killed cause of a cat fish. I know how it feels to be groomed
Sley and Neha are ok tho, but I barely see them. Oh well
Stressing me tf out. I already missed mad classes this semester and I be in the library during those days lol but the grind is gonna be worth it. Cause imma get my degree, move in with Van, get a high paying job, and start a family with him. Jesus college is such a pain in the ass, but hey at least there's that story we have to do the for the essay. Remember the first day me and Van Rp'd I'm gonna do that, but we introduced Will earlier and she kidnapped Vanni and held her hostage. Imma need Gabe so I'm bringing his ass back from the dead so that's Lovely ASF.
What's crazy is that I still here about that stupid ass piece of shit Krisy a lot from Paola. When we do talk that is it's like once or twice every 3 weeks. She fills me in on what's going on and shit and how Brayden and Kris keeps Harrison her. It's like Brayden I get she cheated, but dude you pushed her to that point. You were a serious piece of shit towards her and she felt so unhappy in that relationship. Can I be honest here, they are ALL in the wrong... Paola SHOULDN'T had cheated with Brayden and she should have just told him he lost feelings for her and shit instead of being so secretive around him. Ax from the rp said it himself.. "cheating is the unforgivable sin" and me and Van have been cheated on before. But hey at least Krisy cheating on me got me Van in the first place LOL SMD KRISY!!!
But yea they all in the wrong, Brayden shouldn't had escalated this leaking all of Paolas nudes and shit... nigga is in possession of CP... Her Nudes are LITERAL CHILD PORN! And Brayden is a minor too mind you... so theoretically They all get in trouble. Krisy had the AUDACITY to take Brayden side, but she's a hypocrite cause... Again she's a cheating scumbag... And not to mention Paola had gotten doxxed too and she COULD have stopped it but didn't so now she has to face the same punishment LOL. It's a bunch of retarded shit but hey at least IM not involved.
Wait its 2:19 AM.. I should be sleeping 😭😭 WTF!!??? Alright lemme check on the server rq to see if anyone new joined ok nope. Okay going nini now. Nini!!

Pull Over, Your On Empty
MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK
=========================
+Proverbs 19:20 Listen to advice and accept instruction that you may gain wisdom in the future.
=========================
VERSE OF THE DAY
========================
+ Deuteronomy 8:3 KJV And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live
=========================
** SAY THIS BEFORE YOU READ; HERE’S SOME CHRISTIAN AFFIRMATION **
I AM GETTING REFILLED BY GOD
I AM LISTENING
I AM OBEDIENT
I AM BRAVE
********************************
THOUGHTS:
=======================
We all go through different things in In-N-Out life, and for some reason, our mind goes to thinking that God has to be picking on us, and he isn’t; he does things to humble or teach us, but it’s up to us to understand what’s happening. To understand and grow from our situation, but we have to be the ones to grow from what he is putting us through; a lot of the time we look at the bad and we don’t stop once to say, what is God trying to show me !
The Israelites were so focused on what they didn’t have and not realizing that God wanted to teach them that food and water and things weren’t what they needed; they needed more of him. In verse two, Moses told them, “Remember how the Lord your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands.”
They forgot what God had done for them, they forgot everything he had brought them through, and it didn’t matter to them at all; all they wanted to do was worship idols, anything but God all the way to this point he’s was asking them not to serve other gods not to obey anyone but them, just like us today we don’t know when enough is enough.
The Israelites kept pressing their luck in Deuteronomy 4:3 You saw for yourself what the Lord did to you at Baal-peor. There the Lord your God destroyed everyone who had worshiped Baal, the god of Peor. 4 But all of you who were faithful to the Lord your God are still alive today—every one of you.”
They didn’t want what God had to give them; they did everything they could to worship other gods; they were told repeatedly not to worship, not to bow down, but they did what FELT GOOD TO THEM! God destroyed every one of them that disobeyed him; he destroyed everyone that picked Baal over him why because they wouldn’t listen to directions, they wouldn’t heed to his call to turn around . That’s just like us today God is calling us to stop, God is calling us to let go of the things of this world but some of us have turned a deaf ear!
Now God is here trying to humble them, to show them and teach them, but if they refuse to humble themselves and refuse to learn, what is the point? What is the point of our lives if we won’t do what God is calling us to do? All this was done to show them how to depend on God, but they still wouldn’t; some of us are going through because we won’t submit, we refuse to listen, we refuse to change because we don’t see because of the veil.
“Matthew 4:4 But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God”
The Bible says here we can’t live with what we have; we can’t live by just food; we can’t live by just THINGS; we will become dead because our source supposes to be God, but some of us are running on empty, and we refuse to stop at the fueling station of God to get full because we think we have enough in us to keep going but friends I am here to tell you we don’t! I am here to tell you if you don’t stop eventually and get filled by God and the things of the light, you will slow down, and you won’t be able to grow or move forward because E means empty; you’ll become so empty that nothing in this life will help you !!
***Today, God knows we will get it wrong, and he knows we will need help, but he can’t help us if we don’t slow down; some of us are going 90 miles an hour, but we won’t stop; we see its time and we won’t listen to the Holy Spirit , he’s asking us today how much more do he have to show us to make us humble ourselves , how much more do he have to take away to get us to pull over, pull over now and ask God to show you what he wants you to do and he will show you!
========================
PRAYER
========================
Heavenly Father , help us to slow down and connect with you , father show us how to be responsible, help us to be filled with you and not things of this world . Lord we don’t want to continue to walk in disobedient. Lord help us to stay focus on you and not thinking we know everything . Lord give us ears to hear your word and voice . Lord help us to be what you’re calling us to be. Lord our life is out of line show us , if we not reading our word enough help us change that , if we not meditating enough please help us , father if we aren’t giving more time to you forgive us ! Lord we need you and we thank you in Jesus Mighty Name Amen

How to run a youth musical theatre camp when you have no idea what you're doing and also no money
Hello! My name is Z. Nice to meet ya. I am a composer, playwright, and overall nerd about music and theatre. I recently ran a kid's musical theatre camp completely from scratch. And I mean completely. And I learned a lot. For my Gold Award, I need a "Global Link" and a level of sustainability to my project. I couldn't make it sustainable in my own community, so hey! How about I make it more sustainable... across the globe! By making information about how to run a project like this more accessible, and laid out step by step.
On my blog will also be a PDF of the musical I wrote for this project, as well as links to all the music for it. They are free to use for whatever projects you so desire. I don't have any need to profit off this musical.
Let's get started, shall we?
General table of contents: 1. Starting questions to ask yourself 2. Where to get money??? 3. What show to do?? 4. Location??? 5. How do I teach a show? 6. Set and other tech stuff 7. Getting people to sign up 8. Final thoughts
Starting questions
So, you want to run a musical theatre camp. Good starting point, but that's not enough to make much progress. There's a few things you need to figure out before you can tackle anything else.
In no particular order:
How long will this camp be, and when, and what time?
A week? 3 days? 1 day? 3 weeks? 2 months? Will it be during the summer? The school year? Winter break? What specific dates? Will the camp run all day? Just afternoons? Just mornings? Overnight stay? The answer to these things changes a LOT.
The less time you meet, the less you will be able to do. And the shorter and less complex your show must be. You must also consider when your target demographic will be free. I nailed down my dates for my camp a year in advance. I was able to not only be sure I was finished by the date I set, but think hard about what dates were best. Generally, for kids, a summer camp is best. Times are important, too. Mostly for parents. If it starts in the middle of the day, a lot of kids won't be able to make it since their parents work. Do whatever works for you and your plan, but these are important things to consider.
2. What ages/grades will you consider?
This is a hard one. My target demographic was ages in my community without access to theatre, so this question was easy for me, but it may be less so for others. I'd suggest not going any younger than 3rd graders, but that's absolutely not a hard and fast rule.
One important thing to consider is, if you have a wide age gap, the older kids having less respect for the younger ones and working with them less. This happened in my camp. It caused some big problems the first few days.
The older the kids, the less one-on-one guidance they will typically need, but that doesn't apply for everyone. Just a general theme.
If you work with teenagers, you also need to consider a lot of us work summer jobs.
3. Who will you have to help you? And can you pay them?
Please, have at LEAST two people helping. Even if one of those people sits and does nothing most of the time. You cannot handle it alone.
If you can only get that minimum, that's alright. However, it does change the ages you can work with and the number of people you can have (see number 4). A large camp requires a pretty large staff.
The payment question may not be answerable for a while, but keep it in mind.
4. How many students do you want to work with?
This question relates a lot to what show you want to do. Bigger shows require bigger casts, and vice versa. The more students you have, the more people teaching you need
Will you have a cutoff where you'll start turning people away, or will you take everyone who wants to join? Will it be okay if there is a large number of ensemble characters? Once you have your show decided, you need to come up with a minimum number of students. Any less than that number, and the show can't really function.
5. Can you feed the students meals?
If this is a yes, you have a LOT more money and planning needed. Feeding a lot of kids lunch and/or dinner every day is not cheap or easy. You'll need a plan for each day and people to make the meals. I didn't do this for my camp, so I can't say how much it would cost per kid per day, but I can tell you it's a lot.
These questions are pretty complicated, as they have layers upon layers of questions within them, but without them, your camp will have no legs to stand on.
I decided for my camp to do a 5 day camp from Tuesday-Saturday during late June of 2023. I would accept kids going into the 3rd grade all the way through kids going through the 7th grade. I would get some of my friends and family to help run the camp, but I wouldn't need a large number, because I was going to run a small show, with only a small group of kids. I didn't know the specifics for some of it, but I had a great starting point.
Where to get money?
A tough, tough question. But don't freak out. My camp ended up costing me about $250, which is INCREDIBLY cheap. I found ways to cut costs all over the place. I ended up collecting about twice that in funds and donated the excess to my local high school theatre program.
I was lucky enough to have my Gold Award as a source of funding itself. My troop gave me $250 from our savings under the condition that I kept good track of all the money I spent. Which I had to do for my Gold Award anyway, so. I also collected direct donations from people who came to the show, and I asked the parents if they'd pay a $25 fee if they could. It was entirely optional if it wasn't within their means.
I recommend not having a fully required cost for parents. Something that should be given if they can, but if they can't, its no big deal! Frame this as financial aid. That is what it is, in the end.
Here are a couple of ideas for money:
Go to small business fairs in your community. Explain to them you're looking for sponsorship for an arts project. You will certainly get some "no"s, but small businesses can be incredibly generous. Put their name in your program as thanks, write them a thank you card, and boom, that's a sponsorship! And if you can't see them in person, look up your local chamber of commerce and send some emails. Less charm than in person, but you'll get something.
Set out a donation jar at your show. I got $60 just from doing this at my ONE PERFORMANCE! I donated it straight to the theatre, but this can be a great way to make money. Again, its hard to rely on other people's generosity, but you'd be surprised at how much people are willing to give when they care about something.
Another way to get donations are just to ask for PHYSICAL donations. Stuff. Paint, costumes, snacks, food, water, anything! Not a way to get money, but you'll have less you'll need to buy.
Again, fees. If you can, get a sponsor to pay any fees people can't, there's your financial aid. Parents are used to paying people to teach their kids for camps. It's pretty standard. Your price might be high, or it might be low. Mine was $25 dollars because I had enough money from my troop to not need them to pay much. But if you're running a massive show, you might need $100+ fees per kid. Change it however you need, but above all else, DO NOT LET IT BE A BARRIER FOR ENTRY. Poor kids deserve to love the arts, too.
How about cutting costs? Again, I spent about $250 for my entire camp. That's cheap. VERY cheap. How can you cut these costs?
Do a simple show. That's probably the best thing. I spent about $20 on set and costumes total. I did a show based in a school, so the kids just wore their own clothes. For the set, I got chairs and desks from the school I ran the camp in, and let the kids decorate them with paint pens and markers on poster board. It didn't look professional, but I didn't need it to. I just needed it to be functional and SPECIAL for the kids.
Get parents to donate snacks. Not much room for elaboration, but food is where most of my money spent went. If parents are able to donate snacks, you'll have less to spent.
If you are going to be serving meals, you can also set up a system of each day, a different kid's parent needs to provide the meals. Allow room for error here. Some parents cannot afford the materials to make that much food. This could be something you ask during sign up.
Get a location you don't need to rent or pay for in any capacity. I will discuss this more in the section about location.
If you need helpers, possibly recruit college students. Pay them if you can, but they would need less pay if you can arrange this as college credit for them.
Or high school theatre kids! Especially anyone in International Thespian Society. They can get points for helping! Pay them if you can, but again, there's another form of payment here.
Recruit anyone looking for volunteer hours. And trust me, with all the honor societies in high schools, there are plenty of high school kids who will absolutely help with a camp to check some hours off their list. And they can't accept payment.
Paying for something like this is a scary, scary task. I know. There are ways to get through it.
What show to do?
This depends on a lot. Small budget? Probably a one act based in a school or in modern times to lower prop nd costume costs. But the bigger your cast gets, the harder it is to do a one act. It's a balancing act.
There's a lot of (insert fairytale or other kids story here) The Musical Jr.s out there. Usually those are one acts, but you can do them with a bigger cast as they usually have quite a lot of characters. If that's not your style or doesn't fit your cast, I'd recommend finding a local theatre director and asking for help. There's a show out there for everyone.
I took a very nontraditional approach. I wrote my own show. To be fair, I was suited very well to this as an aspiring playwright and composer, but if you're not these things, you can still do it! Well, maybe not you yourself. This would be a time to rely on your community.
Finding a writer to take this on should be pretty easy. Find a way to contact a local high school English teacher. Trust me, they'd have at least a few students willing to write something. I'd pay them if you could, but many would be willing to do it for fun or school credit. I know I would have.
They could either write something original under whatever conditions you need for the show to work in your budget, or they could adapt a public domain story.
Finding a composer is a bit trickier, especially on a budget. But there's a good chance there's on at your high school or a local college if it offers the degree. Again, send an email or two. Compensate if you can, but I would've done this for free if my choir teacher came to me with this opportunity.
If you have a small cast of 9-12 year olds, my show, Marigold and the Friend who Did Not Sing, is free to use, as mentioned in the intro. It will be posted on my blog shortly after this post is made, with the script and all the music. It's a 15-20 minute one-act with seven characters. Marigold is upset that his best friend refuses to sing in a musical, so he tries to get him to sing however he can. Eventually he realizes that Niko doesn't have to sing if he doesn't want to.
Location??
There are so many options. Renting out a place is expensive, but if that's not possible for you, then there are other options.
Run an outdoor camp! Out of your backyard or the public park or something of that sort. Weather is an issue here. If you live somewhere where summers are REALLY hot or winters are REALLY cold, you'll have to run something in the fall or spring, when kids are in school. And there's always the possibility of being rained out. And there are lots of kids with outdoor allergies. For some people, however, this would be be the best (and cheapest) location. Provide sunscreen!
If you have cooperative roommates and/or family and enough space, you could use your house. Space for the audience could be tough, but if you needed a different place to perform, you could rent or find a place for just the performance(s).
A middle school or high school auditorium. This is what I did. If its a public school, you probably don't need to pay. However, I had to have a member of staff there at all times and I had to go through an approval process. This may be similar in other places. There's downsides but this was overall VERY worth it for me
How do I teach a show?
This was my biggest worry for the camp. I had only attempted to teach before. I had never directed a show before and I had never taught music before and I knew NOTHING about choreography. I also had never worked with kids before.
There are a few things you need to have people who can teach. Hopefully, you can do one or more of these. But again, at least get ONE other helper who can take over when you need. Two people can catch each other's slack.
Auditions: Here's my recommended audition schedule. Do more research or pull from your own auditions, but this worked really well for me.
Introductions. Get to know your students and their level of experience! And let them start to get to know each other, too. It's gonna be awkward for a while and that's okay.
Read through. Randomly assign everyone a part to read, including someone to read stage directions (could be you yourself doing that). This is just so everyone gets a sense of the show. Doesn't matter if they act it out well. This is just for basic stuff. Any song that comes up, let them know you're gonna play the track for it and no one needs to sing yet.
Character decisions. Give them some time to think about what character(s) they want to audition for. If anyone seems lost or confused, give them some help, especially any younger kids.
Singing auditions + dancing auditions (if applicable). For some shows, I recommend everyone do the singing audition. For others, I'd recommend doing it opt-in. And that also relates to the age of the kids and their experience. I did mine opt it with the only requirement being that if you were going for the character with a solo song or the main character (who had a lot of solo singing), you had to audition. If you weren't going for them you could still sing for your audition, but you weren't required to. About half my kids sang for me during the audition, and a few of them were SUPER shy, but by the show, I got them all to sing (except the kid playing Niko, of course. That goes against the whole point). You can do these solo with only you or a musical director, or they can be done in front of the group. It depends on a lot of things. Don't scare the kids off. Let them get comfortable before putting them on the spot in front of others. As for dancing auditions, I recommend you (or a choreographer) make a short 16 count simple dance to teach everyone. This could be something that could be incorporated into the show, or maybe not. Just to gauge how well they manage with basic (or more complex, depending on the show) dancing. Again, only do this if its needed.
Scene read throughs. Write down what everyone is auditioning for, and have them read through scenes, cycling through who wants to play who. I don't really know how to explain this further. It's the most basic part of theatre auditions. Have them read specific lines if you need, but do this until you have the characters set or have a good enough idea to sit and figure it out.
I'd also recommend not posting the cast list for everyone to see. Either pull them each aside before announcing everyone's parts, or send them home with the cast list. Let them process it alone for a minute.
Blocking/Choreo: I'd suggest, once you pick your show, get a script ASAP. Print it out, and make notes for every single scene as you envision it on a stage. Stage directions, business, props, possible costumes. Basically, get the mental blocking DOWN. If this isn't something you can do, find a director who is able to do this. For the songs, do the same thing. This may be a lot more involved due to counts and all. And same thing, if this isn't a thing you can do, find a choreographer.
Once you get to the actually blocking, set aside plenty of time to do this. A whole day for a full show, maybe half a day for a one act. It's boring and takes a long time. Kids will get bored. Get it over with ASAP. Do every scene and give them the directions you have written down. Then, run them through the scenes and make corrections as you need. Do the same with choreo, but I'd recommend, unless they come with a naturally very good sense of rhythm, to not teach choreo until they know the music.
Character work: You will likely have a vision for each character that isn't executed perfectly. That's normal. Work with them on it. Have them run certain lines in different ways. Work on how they portray their age and their walk and how they stand and talk, if that's something that you'd like to do. Work on making things feel natural on stage. This will be very hard for some things and that's okay. Guide them, stay patient, and be proud of them when they put the pieces together and get it right. This kind of thing is very hard to explain. If you are in theatre, you probably have a good understanding of character work, but you might not. I can answer any specific questions if you send them in.
Projecting work: Especially for new actors, this is NEEDED. Send one person to the back of the room. Have each person read a line of theirs, or a tongue twister, or something of the sort from the stage. Have the person in the back let them know if their projection and diction is good. They won't be perfect. But working on this will make them SO much better.
Music: I've been a musician much longer than I've been an actor and I did this very badly. I recommend singing along with them and working in small groups for songs. Remove harmonies if they can't do it. Have someone who can play at least a little bit of piano on your team to guide the singing. If it's not perfect, it's okay. As long as it's comprehensible and makes some sense. Reading music is hard. If they can't do it, try to explain some of the basics, but really, all they need to know is that up means higher and down means lower. If they learn the rhythms from you, they don't need to know how to read all of them. But it all depends on their age group and how much they know coming in and how confident you are at being able to teach them.
Teaching is hard. I made a lot of mistakes. But I figured things out in the end and so will you. Play videos! Bring in people to help last minute if need be. Don't be ashamed to ask for help.
Set and other tech stuff
Depending on where you perform (and what time) you might not need lighting and your sound system may just be a bluetooth speaker and an iPhone. But if you're in a theatre, I'd recommend getting a basic understanding of how to work the soundbooth.
I have no real advice to give you. I never did sound or light tech before this show. I just got some help and learned how to make it as simple as possible, with it only being a slider for the lights and one button for the music. My advice is this: find lighting techs and sound techs. Talk to the ones at local high schools or community theatre programs. I had one person come in before all this to help and I had to make three emergency phone calls because I didn't know what to do. That's fine. If you can get one to be there the whole camp and performance, that's awesome! But if you can't you will find a way. And if all else fails, do the show with the house lights on and a bluetooth speaker on stage connected to your phone or a computer. But y'know... avoid that if you can.
As for the set, there are a lot of layers to it. You can go all out and build an entire wooden set with platforms and changing parts and smoke machines etc. etc. Or you can put some chairs and a table on the stage and cover them with poster board you had the kids doodle on. It depends. Mostly on the age of the kids, the money, the location, and the time you have. Building a whole set usually takes up to a week of full work. You can't really do it in a home or public park. And buying that wood and paint and tools is expensive. It's also dangerous! Don't do something like this with younger kids. Either do it yourself or with a team ahead of time. At most, let them paint with heavy watch and with full coverings of their clothes. Maybe even buy them paint clothes. Paint will get everywhere. Especially with kids. It's like magic.
If you have kids 11-12 or up, then get a non-liability contract signed if you want to do something like this. They are capable, but it's still dangerous. I have a friend who's gotten two concussions doing theatre construction because things got dropped on her head. Heavy, wooden things. Don't set yourself up to get sued.
If you go the construction route, make a basic blueprint doodle and set aside maybe two weeks or time, or a few days less if you want your students to paint. Get some people who know what their doing, the paint colors you want, lots of screws and drills, any wood or other materials you need (make a friend with a pickup truck or van), and a lot of patience. After the show, set aside about 1 full day to deconstruct. Taking stuff apart is a lot easier than putting it together.
You can also always go simple. I got 6 chairs and an old desk and covered them in about $8 worth of colored and doodled poster board that I let the kids make themselves. You could have them paint set pieces if you buy them yourself. You could get a shelf or two and cover it with small objects or books. You can get fake plants and other non building required objects to "fill out" your set. If you want, you could involve the kids in this and ask them what they think. I can guarantee they probably have really good ideas.
Getting people to sign up
Google forms. Make a Google form asking all needed questions. It's so easy and you can send it out in a QR code or link.
Actually getting people to find it is the hard part. I'd recommend making some connections. I had my family post about it on their Facebook accounts so that parents in the area saw it. I also had my choir director post about it since she knows so many parents. Most of my sign ups came from her.
The more people you need, the earlier you should send out the sign up form. I only needed 6-7 people, and I had about 2 months of the form being out, and I barely made it. Take advantage of any connections you have. Print flyers and post them around if you can. Talk to your friends and find out of they know anyone who'd be interested. Do it as early as you can, and you will be able to get the sign ups you need.
Include the price and financial aid options in the sign up. And the show. And the cast number. And when you will stop sign ups. Any information that you've got, put it on the form.
Final thoughts
You've got this. This is not an easy thing to pull off when you aren't experienced. But its worth it. I grew to love the kids I worked with. It was one of the best experiences of my life, and I wouldn't trained what I learned about theatre and about myself for the world.
My musical is free to use, and if it works for you, please use it. The PDF and the music will be in a separate post on my account.

Reading 1
Ex 14:5-18
When it was reported to the king of Egypt that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his servants changed their minds about them. They exclaimed, “What have we done! Why, we have released Israel from our service!” So Pharaoh made his chariots ready and mustered his soldiers six hundred first-class chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt, with warriors on them all.
Responsorial Psalm
Exodus 15:1bc-2, 3-4, 5-6
R./ Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory.
I will sing to the LORD, for he is gloriously triumphant; horse and chariot he has cast into the sea. My strength and my courage is the LORD, and he has been my savior. He is my God, I praise him; the God of my father, I extol him. R./ Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory.
The LORD is a warrior, LORD is his name! Pharaoh’s chariots and army he hurled into the sea; the elite of his officers were submerged in the Red Sea. R./ Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory.
The flood waters covered them, they sank into the depths like a stone. Your right hand, O LORD, magnificent in power, your right hand, O LORD, has shattered the enemy. R./ Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory.
Gospel
MT 12:38-42
