it's literally not a good idea in any way shape or form but I want to get a second job in fast food
#it's not a good idea bc the wages are GARBAGE compared to retail#Macca's base rate for my age is less than half my sunday rate#and they don't get much beyond the base rate#whereas retail we have an incredible base rate AND more weekdays past 6pm and weekends (sat is the same as mon-fri 6pm#and sunday is significantly more)#and like yeah im not getting many shifts but if i were to ask for more I still wouldn't be able to work more than 4 hour shifts til july#bc my retail corporation is surprisingly ethical and extends the age limits by a lot#whereas my friend has a 7.5 half hour shift tomorrow AFTER school. on a week night 😁#which is actually horrifying and should nawwt be legal. thats school 9-3 (+20 min) then work 4-11:30 btw#like i should just wait til my birthday in july n ask for more shifts in retail but i want to try fast food#even though the pay is incredibly ridiculously bad (<10 AUD) (yes our adult minimum wage is a good ~23 but under 21 is a percentage of that#like the pay is so bad so i would earn the same or more doing wayy less hours than retail#but i kinda want to get the fast food experience bc it'll be more difficult to get hired as i age#bc i want to save up 20k for top surgery but at the rate im going it'll be difficult to have even thay#let alone savings after top surgery or money to get a car before#and as school gets more difficult it'll be harder to work more#so maybe i should just grind for a few months or til the end of the year then go back to retail exclusively?#and enjoy higher pay and some longer shifts?#but idkkk it's just such a dilemma bc i want more shifts than I'll get at retail but fast food pays so little#but i also really want the experience and to just try it out#im gonna. idk im gonna sit on it for a bit bc i want to get my legal name change sorted before i apply to any second jobs and that will#take a while#so i shall consider. draw up a timetable. write a pros and cons list#yes that sounds like a solid plan#whoop typo but im on mobile i meant 'wayy less hours IN retail'#oscar.exe

OUAT Appreciation Week
Day 3 and 4
Yesterday I had a horrible headache and couldn't do screens. Sorry. Here's both answers... and you know... if you haven't figured out by now that this is going to be heavily centric on the Golds... Well... I don't know what to tell ya.
I've got two favorite origin stories, actually... And yeah.. even the one that /isn't'/ the Golds /is/ the Golds... in a few round about ways.
So yeah, these two are the origin stories I love the most. Rumple and the Rogers (Killian Jones, from the wish realm). First of all, how can you not love the painful yet lovely arc that is Rumple's whole story. And second to that, the fleshing out of Rogers as a character without Emma, as someone searching for something that isn't romance with a woman... How he changed over his existence... All of that. Yeah.
I guess you can say I'm a sucker for fathers trying to be the best they can be. Giving their all for their kids. Who knows if that's why I like these the best, but there's that.
Here's a fic of them for you. Kinda shoddy, but a fic all the same.
And my favorite Plot Twist?
Yeah. All about the Golds.
Now, to be fair, there have been some awesome plot twists... I've even tried to get a few of my own into upcoming parts of the continued saga of Storybrooke, when Gideon returns...
So how about a spoiler for that one too? But let's make it interactive, shall we?
How do you think these two:
BOTH end up connecting to branches of the Gold family tree?
And before you ask, yes, they each do it in their own way, Grace isn't carried in by Jefferson and plopped down through genetic connection alone.

Suffering but I’m Not Alone
MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK
=======================
+ Proverbs 3:26 For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught
=======================
VERSE OF THE DAY
======================
+2 Timothy 3:12 yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
=======================
** SAY THIS BEFORE YOU READ; HERE’S SOME CHRISTIAN TRUTHS **
I AM PUSHING THROUGH
I AM IN HIS HANDS
I AM DRAWING NEAR TO HIM
I AM NOT ALONE
======================
READ TIME: 7 Minutes & 38 Seconds
======================
THOUGHTS:
======================
It tells us here that everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer; a lot of people are surprised when they deal with persecution or sadness, or anything else, but the word of God tells us right here everyone who lives a godly life will suffer and sure that might be hard to accept.
You might ask yourself, why me? But we must all go through it whether we like it or not. We have to get to the point where we are accepting that this comes with the life of godliness, some people can't take it, and they withdraw from Christ because it gets to be too hard for them, but friend, if Jesus went through it, we supposed to be Christ-like we must accept the good with the bad.
Verse 13: But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived.
Some of us wonder how people go through life without problems, how they can live in peace, and what they believe in. The Bible tells us once again they will flourish; they deceive themselves because they think this is the final call, and it's not. They live here thinking they have made it, and all along, they haven’t. We must understand they have gotten their reward. Now, our reward is in heaven. We can’t think about how they live, but the verse tells us they have been deceived.
Verse 14: But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you
We must remain faithful regardless of what we see and feel because sometimes our emotions or the enemy will tell us, hey, you need to do this, or this is better, or you need to stop praying. It's not getting you anywhere, but all this is a ploy of the enemy; the enemy wants us to think what we are doing is worthless and what we are striving for isn’t real, but the lord God is as real as you and me. We must stand firm through it all and rebuke the enemy when he comes, and he will come. We must be fully prepared with our armor on.
1 Peter 4:12 Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you.
It tells us, "Don’t be surprised at what we are going through. Don’t be surprised that you're having problems at work, school, or anywhere people can sense the presence of the Lord in your life, and they are ready to pull it from you." But we can't allow it to happen, and we can't allow them to steal our joy.
Verse 13 Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the incredible joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world
The verse tells us that when we have these trials, it makes us partner with Christ. Christ suffered a great deal when he was on this earth, and he didn’t let that change his love for men; his love grew even deeper. We must let the love of God show in us when we are dealing with people and when we are going through.
Isaiah 30:20-21 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your Teacher will not hide himself anymore, but your eyes shall see your Teacher. And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left
Even though we are going through, God is still going to be there through our pain and adversity; he’s going to be there in our affliction, still telling us which way to go, but we must hear him; a lot of times when we go through we are so wrapped up in what’s happening we so distracted with what the enemy has placed before us we forget about God we don’t hear his voice, we don’t hear him when he speaks because the enemy is using it as a ploy to keep us from praying to keep us from worshiping to keep us from mediating on God.
Don’t allow the enemy to test you when you are going through; don’t allow the enemy to keep you from your peace because, in the affliction in the trials, you can go through and still be filled with peace! All because you're staying and soaking in God’s presence.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So, we fix our eyes not on what is seen but on what is unseen since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
We shouldn’t lose heart; yes, our body is wasting away, but inwardly, we are being renewed by God; what we are going through right now is light and momentary; it won’t last forever, instead of looking at what’s happening now and to us we need to fix our eyes on Jesus, fix our eyes on heaven because it is eternal. The things here are just temporary.
*** Today, we learned that Christ is still with us and near us despite suffering. We might feel that we are going through it alone, but we aren’t we have Jesus with us every step of the way. Our troubles seem like they will endure forever, but they will not; they will only last a little while. We must understand that what we see is temporary, but heaven is forever. Don’t lose heart and keep pushing forward.
Isaiah 43:2. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze
No matter what we go through, we must keep Christ at the head of our life, and we have to know that he’s going through it all with us and he’ll protect us from it all; nothing will harm us, nothing will come to us unless he wills it, he will always protect us from anything, but we must trust in him and no one else.

PRAYER
=====================
Heavenly Father, we thank you for everything; we ask you to be with us through it all, lord; allow us to be patient and trust in you through it all. Lord, forgive us if we haven’t heard your voice. Please go through the fire with us; we might be afraid, but we know you’ll be with us until the end. Lord, we thank you for this devotional; we ask that you help us understand and apply it to our lives; in Jesus Name, Amen

Vain Worship
Isaiah 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
Lukewarm Christians
Revelation 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Characteristics
1 : They have no desire to depart from sin the want to try to get by on grace alone.
1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
2 : All of their conversations are about worldly things and the cares of this world
1 John 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
3 : Their actions ( No Change in them ).
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
4 : They spend no time praying or alone with God they might show up for church once a week but God is always on the Blackburner .
Psalm 145:18 The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.
5 : The conversations they have never involve God but rather business or financial or plans they have made. Or what new item they intend on purchasing.
Matthew 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Philippians 3:20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
6 : No conviction of sin they feel no grief or guilt for sinning. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin (see John 16:8-9)
Jude 1:18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.1:19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
7 : They could care a less about the unsaved or reaching out to them. They outright try to stop us from preaching to the unsaved
Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Proverbs 29:10 The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.
Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
8 : They care more about pleasing people rather than pleasing God
Galatians 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
9 : They fear man but have no fear of God
Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

oh hun, and anon whose birthday was Idk when (hbd by the way! and don't worry, you're still young, love) if you guys feel old, how am I supposed to feel (early 90s baby here) 😖
the only reason I have not gone insane this week over the lack of wygig, has been weariness. first time I'm actually thankful for my shitty working hours.
and you know who IS going insane?? my brother! who actually has normal working hours! good for you maddie, having a random man drooling across the world, crawling up walls waiting for your moment to come back. (talking as if I was not the same) and nahh, the fisting is nothing. they've seen me read this stuff for yeaaaars. well not exactly but you get what I mean
honestly I shall praise. I have nothing else to do right now, and as I can't over analyze this week's chapter, I must yap about why I love your way of writing. and over analyze the snippet.
1. your way of writing is one of my favorites in ao3. you have this talent to get in people's heads and make them NEED to see more. crack. cocaine. I guess my mom would be much more happy that her children are addicted to this rather than irl drugs. mad(s) respect for that.
2. you're kinda a mastermind as well. everything is so well thinked and planned. kudos to saiyanwitcher as well for helping you out with this one. beautiful.
3. your characterization kills it. look, I've NEVER met this people, let alone think they would actually be in this situation. but. if they had to go through something like it. this is the way I think they would be like. I can bet on it. swear even. it just. fits. lovely.
4. I love that you make these long chapters that feel like nothing. you just inhale them. every time I read you I'm always looking at the little bar in the screen that tells how far along we are. I just don't want it to end. but even if you leave a cliffhanger, the chapters always feel complete. like it was meant to finish there. no more no less no further ahead. perfect.
5. I love how you engage with us. feed us crumbs and see how the world sets in fire, sometimes going insane with us too. is just refreshing. I like to imagine you in your couch, throwing us a bone and laughing at how we go nuts about it.
+1. I love the Max crush that you created in me. thank you very much for that. lives were changed. eyes were opened.
+2. my brother and I were going crazy over jealous Charlie. I quote him "oh lui è innamorato. che bello. y no se da cuenta! sei molto stupido Charle" (that's 'oh he is in love. and he doesn't even realize! you are very stupid Charle' for you) Imagine that with angry hand movements and frustrated pacing through a kitchen with a pan on his hand. proper italian, my brother. lost some points throwing some spanish in there but I would still give him like a 8.3/10 for the performance. go and sink us even more in the stereotype/jk
+3. I was today years old when I found out saiyan was the way english speakers write saiyajin. I even had to google and triple check it because I wasn't sure whether it was actually like that or my dislexic brain was just messing with me.
all to say. I love everything you write. give me that fire changed my brain chemistry first. I also found out way too much later than I would've wanted that it was your fic as well. not today but still not so long ago. lovely beautiful thing it was too.
birthday anon started it!!!
also what can I say ... thats my sheer power .. random men drooling across the world ... 💅 but also, them knowing that you read that stuff and reading it with you is very different I fear.
thank you 😭😭 that's very kind, and I'm so happy that that's the effect it has. it's exactly the effect I want!
@saiyanwitcher is the real mastermind tbh. I just write it!
personally I think characterisation is one of my strongest points as a writer, so I'm glad that it hits for you like it does for me!
ahhh I'm so glad they go fast! sometimes I write a chapter and I'm like ... this is 10k of absolutely nothing .. how boring.
I do absolutely laugh, I'm sorry. I laugh a lot.
+1. I'm so glad I've encouraged you to see the light. my Max crush rages fiercely every single day.
+2. YOU'RE ITALIAN?! please remind your brother that my DMs are open if he and his gf break up.
+3. I'll be so for real. I have no idea what you're talking about.
omgggg I'm so glad you loved GMTF too. my fave fic of mine tbh.
thanks for dropping in as always!!

Oh I'm so curious abt the story behind the titles 2, 3, 4, 10 and 12 (> A <)
Number 2
"Father, forgive me for i have sinned."
It's also for Halbarry week, he planned to use it for "Holy and Sinner" day.
Originally this story was going to be unrelated to the whole event and it was going to be a long story, but I was lazy to finish it and didn't know how to extend it too much, so I made it short.
It's inspired by a theme I saw in the couple's Hispanic community.
It's wartime, Barry is a priest who hides people in his church.
However, one day his altar boy, Wally, finds a wounded man and lets him know.
Barry heals and cares for him despite being on the opposing side.
Little by little, he falls in love with this man even though he knows that he is committing a mortal sin in doing so.
I don't have anything written yet, so I'll put the phrase from the bible that I'm drawing inspiration from.
"Therefore I say to you, All sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven" (Matthew 12:31).
Number 3.
"A date?"
It was a fic I had written as a Valentine's Day and a gift for Hal's birthday."
The idea is simple.
Hal invites Barry to dinner just the two of them under the pretext of celebrating his birthday and Valentine's Day.
Diana doesn't believe them.
"So, Hal asked you to be his Valentine?" Diana asks with an excited smile, to which Barry snorts and shakes his head. But are they going on a date? "It's not a date," Barry replies for the fifth time that night. "Hal found a place where there's a buffet on sale for Valentine's Day and he wants to go to celebrate Valentine's Day and his birthday, so he doesn't spend double." "That sounds like a terrible excuse to ask you out on a date," Diana replies, but Barry ignores her as he takes one last look in the mirror. "It's a terrible excuse, because aren't he´s inviting me to any appointments? "Please," Diana snorts, throwing herself on her bed. "We all know they've been in love with each other since the first time they saw each other in college, and if they haven't made a move, it's because they're both cowards, who still think they don't like each other when they're always flirting."
Number 3.
"I got there first"
It's an alternate universe where Hal and Barry were childhood friends. It's a bit short, the idea is that there will be maybe two or three parts.
It's about a little Hal who is upset that his brother Jack convinced his mother to get him a babysitter, he never expected that babysitter to become his best friend.
"Hal looks him up and down, the boy looks honest, but Hal doesn't know if he can be trusted. "Shall we start over?" the blond boy says, shyly approaching Hal, standing a couple of inches in front of him. "I'm Barry Allen, I'm twelve years old and I promise I'm not some kind of mini spy for your brother, I'm just coming here to keep you from getting hurt being alone." "I'm Hal, and I don't need you to take care of me, Barry; But you can stay. Barry's smile grows when he sees Hal stretch out his hand and the boy didn't hesitate to take it showing him a big smile. Hal feels a strange warmth spread across his chest as he sees the boy older than him smile at him and follow him attentively to his words. Maybe Barry can be a good guy."
Number 10.
"Pretend, Study and Love."
It's alternate universe where they're young and Barry and Hal study together.
Hal wants his teachers to believe that he has changed and decides that the best way to make his change believable is that he changed by the power of love, but he is not in any relationship, so he convinces Barry to pretend to be her boyfriend, everything is complicated by maybe Barry is not faking his feelings
"'Haven't you noticed how all the masters look at them funny when they see them together and start whispering?" she asks. "Iris once overheard them talking about the possibility that you will force him to do your jobs in secret and pretend to be friends so that no one will suspect." "But I don't do that!" he cried angrily, "I would never hurt him!" He's my best friend! "I know, silly," she says, forcing him to lower his voice. "But they don't believe in that, as do most of the school."
Number 12.
"Anonymus letter"
That was one of the first Halbarry fanfics I wrote that I didn't finish or publish. Ha Ha Ha.
It's about Barry who decides to propose on Valentine's Day to his best friend, because he fears his reaction he prefers to write him an anonymous letter that is not so anonymous because Hal knows his handwriting.
Everything goes worse than expected.
It is inspired by the DCSHG animated series.
I don't have anything handy because the draft was in my old Wattpad account, but I'm going to try to get it back as soon as possible to see when I can finish it.

24th July >> Mass Readings (USA)
Monday, Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time
or
Saint Charbel Makhlouf, Priest.
Monday, Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time
(Liturgical Colour: Green: A (1))
First Reading Exodus 14:5-18 They will know that I am the Lord when I receive glory through Pharaoh.
When it was reported to the king of Egypt that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his servants changed their minds about them. They exclaimed, “What have we done! Why, we have released Israel from our service!” So Pharaoh made his chariots ready and mustered his soldiers – six hundred first-class chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt, with warriors on them all. So obstinate had the LORD made Pharaoh that he pursued the children of Israel even while they were marching away in triumph. The Egyptians, then, pursued them; Pharaoh’s whole army, his horses, chariots and charioteers, caught up with them as they lay encamped by the sea, at Pi-hahiroth, in front of Baal-zephon.
Pharaoh was already near when the children of Israel looked up and saw that the Egyptians were on the march in pursuit of them. In great fright they cried out to the LORD. And they complained to Moses, “Were there no burial places in Egypt that you had to bring us out here to die in the desert? Why did you do this to us? Why did you bring us out of Egypt? Did we not tell you this in Egypt, when we said, ‘Leave us alone. Let us serve the Egyptians’? Far better for us to be the slaves of the Egyptians than to die in the desert.” But Moses answered the people, “Fear not! Stand your ground, and you will see the victory the LORD will win for you today. These Egyptians whom you see today you will never see again. The LORD himself will fight for you; you have only to keep still.”
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. And you, lift up your staff and, with hand outstretched over the sea, split the sea in two, that the children of Israel may pass through it on dry land. But I will make the Egyptians so obstinate that they will go in after them. Then I will receive glory through Pharaoh and all his army, his chariots and charioteers. The Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I receive glory through Pharaoh and his chariots and charioteers.”
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Exodus 15:1bc-2, 3-4, 5-6
R/ Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory.
I will sing to the LORD, for he is gloriously triumphant; horse and chariot he has cast into the sea. My strength and my courage is the LORD, and he has been my savior. He is my God, I praise him; the God of my father, I extol him.
R/ Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory.
The LORD is a warrior, LORD is his name! Pharaoh’s chariots and army he hurled into the sea; the elite of his officers were submerged in the Red Sea.
R/ Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory.
The flood waters covered them, they sank into the depths like a stone. Your right hand, O LORD, magnificent in power, your right hand, O LORD, has shattered the enemy.
R/ Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory.
Gospel Acclamation Psalm 95:8
Alleluia, alleluia. If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Matthew 12:38-42 At the judgment the queen of the south will arise with this generation and condemn it.
Some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Jesus, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” He said to them in reply, “An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. Just as Jonah was in the belly of the whale three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. At the judgment, the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and there is something greater than Jonah here. At the judgment the queen of the south will arise with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and there is something greater than Solomon here.”

(Readings for the memorial)
(There is a choice today between the readings for the ferial day (Monday) and those for the memorial. The ferial readings are recommended unless pastoral reasons suggest otherwise)
First Reading Sirach 3:17-24 Humble yourself and you will find favor with God.
My child, conduct your affairs with humility, and you will be loved more than a giver of gifts. Humble yourself the more, the greater you are, and you will find favor with God. The greater you are, the more you must humble yourself in all things, and you will find grace before God. For great is the power of God; by the humble he is glorified. What is too sublime for you, seek not, into things beyond your strength search not. What is committed to you, attend to; for it is not necessary for you to see with your eyes those things which are hidden. With what is too much for you meddle not, when shown things beyond human understanding. Their own opinion has misled many, and false reasoning unbalanced their judgment. Where the pupil of the eye is missing, there is no light, and where there is no knowledge, there is no wisdom.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 15:2-3a, 3bc-4ab, 5
R/ The just one shall live on your holy mountain, O Lord.
He who walks blamelessly and does justice; who thinks the truth in his heart and slanders not with his tongue.
R/ The just one shall live on your holy mountain, O Lord.
Who harms not his fellow man, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor; By whom the reprobate is despised, while he honors those who fear the LORD.
R/ The just one shall live on your holy mountain, O Lord.
Who lends not his money at usury and accepts no bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be disturbed.
R/ The just one shall live on your holy mountain, O Lord.
Gospel Acclamation Matthew 23:9b, 10b
Alleluia, alleluia. You have but one Father in heaven; you have but one master, the Christ! Alleluia, alleluia.
Or: Matthew 28:19a, 20bc
Alleluia, alleluia. Go, and teach all nations, says the Lord; I am with you always, until the end of the world. Alleluia, alleluia.
Or: Mark 1:17
Alleluia, alleluia. Come after me, says the Lord, and I will make you fishers of men. Alleluia, alleluia.
Or: Luke 4:18
Alleluia, alleluia. The Lord sent me to bring glad tidings to the poor and to proclaim liberty to captives. Alleluia, alleluia.
Or: John 10:14
Alleluia, alleluia. I am the good shepherd, says the Lord; I know my sheep, and mine know me. Alleluia, alleluia.
Or: John 15:5
Alleluia, alleluia. I am the vine, you are the branches, says the Lord: whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit. Alleluia, alleluia.
Or: John 15:15b
Alleluia, alleluia. I call you my friends, says the Lord, for I have made known to you all that the Father has told me. Alleluia, alleluia.
Or: 2 Corinthians 5:19
Alleluia, alleluia. God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Matthew 19:27-29 You who have followed me will receive a hundred times more.
Peter said to Jesus, “We have given up everything and followed you. What will there be for us?” Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you that you who have followed me, in the new age, when the Son of Man is seated on his throne of glory, will yourselves sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more, and will inherit eternal life.”

On The Run But Not Alone | 1 Samuel 21
Are you lonely, like David, a "man on the run"?
Welcome to the Daily Devo. I am Vince Miller.
Remember, tomorrow, we will air a new episode of The Vince Miller Show entitled "Beliefs That Hold You Back." If you have Video Access on our website, this episode is already available; if not, wait until tomorrow. Be in prayer for this Show. We have invested a lot of time and money into this effort, and we hope this will reach out in a new way so others will be able to hear the Gospel.
This week, here in the Daily Devo, we are in 1 Samuel 21. I've titled this chapter "Man On The Run."
David will be on the run for a long time, approximately 12-15 years. In the last chapter, he ran to Naioth in Ramah to Samuel and then back to the rocks in Gibeah. In this chapter, he will run to Nob (the location of the Tabernacle) and then to Gath (the home of Goliath). There will be many more locations, 16 in all, that we will list in the coming chapters (i.e., the Cave of Adullam, the king of Moab at Mizpeh, "the stronghold" maybe Masada, the forest of Hereth, Keilah, the wilderness of Ziph, the wilderness of Maon, strongholds of Engedi, "the stronghold" maybe Masada again, the wilderness of Paran, and the finally back to Achish, the king of Gath.)
So, I will not give you a key verse for this chapter this week. (If I did, I would pick 1 Samuel 21:4.)
Instead, I will share a private excerpt from David's journal during this emotional time, which reveals a lot about what is going on in his mind.
But first, I want you to imagine how lonely David felt in these moments. He has been separated from his family and will never speak to his biological father ever again. His father-in-law (King Saul) wants to kill him and has given a charge to the Israelite army to hunt him down. His wife (Michal) and best friend (Jonathan) cannot communicate with him. He cannot take refuge in Samuel in the Naioth at Ramah. David is a fugitive, a man on the run. At the end of this chapter, David hides in Gath, which is in Philistia, the enemy of Israel, and acts like a madman here to preserve his life from King Saul. There could be no more lonely moment for David.
However, during this chapter, David made two journal entries, Psalms 34 and 56. And I want to read a portion of Psalm 34 for you today so you can see what David is thinking.
The title of this Psalm in your Bible might say:
"Of David, when he changed his behavior before Abimelech, so that he drove him out, and he went away."
The name "Abimelech" is a title like "President" or "King," and the man this refers to is named Achish, or "Abimelech Achish" who is the focus of 1 Samuel 21:10-15. Here is what he writes.
I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together! — Psalm 34:1-3
The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry. The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken. Affliction will slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned. The Lord redeems the life of his servants; none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned. — Psalm 34:15-22
Even though David is alone and a man on the run, he knows he is never alone. And some of you need to hear this today. If God is with you, you are never alone. David preached, journaled, wrote, and sang this truth to his heart, mind, and soul. He put his hand to paper, his lip to song, his heart to prayer in those lonely moments in the enemy land, pretending to be a madman to stay alive as God's anointed, and God was with him.
In lonely moments, never forget that with God, you are never alone. Preach this truth to your soul. Sing about it. Read about it. Write about it. Believe it. God is a deliverer. He is near, not far.
And don't forget that during these years, God slowly built an army of hundreds of men around David who followed him from the Struggling Fugitive Years to the Soldiering Fighting Years.
#NeverAlone, #FaithInTheWilderness, #GodWithUs
Ask This:
When have you felt most alone, and how did you remind yourself of God's presence during that time?
Like David, how can you preach truth to your soul in moments of fear or loneliness? What practical steps can you take today?
Do This:
Preach to your soul, "I am not alone, God is with me."
Pray This:
Lord, in my moments of loneliness, help me to remember that You are always with me, even when I feel abandoned. Give me the strength to trust in Your presence and to find refuge in Your unfailing love. Amen.
Play This:
I Am Not Alone.

Day 7(4/14/24)
uhhh- when the hell did Iast write in this shit? I deadass don't know, ok anyways... A LOT has happened these past couple of months so let's begin shall we.
Let's start with the highs:
Me and Van/Vanni have been dating for about 9 months now and I don't regret a single moment of it at all. The reason why I put Van is because he's Genderfuild and he's feeling like a femboy currently so I'm calling him Van for right now. Ever since I met Van I've never been more madly in love with someone my entire life... Van maintained that perfectness inside of him, he's just so beautiful and cute he's just oh my god... He's so amazing... I couldn't have asked for a better partner than him.. I love him so much... Thank you God for answering our prayers and having us be together. We're gonna be reaching 10 on the 29th and guess what... I wouldn't change a thing at all.... I just wish we can be together irl.... But God I know you'll make that happen... And guess what once that day comes I'm never letting Van go. His regression just makes him cuter... Every time he's in a mindset of a toddler or just a wittle baby boy or girl he just get so much cuter... And I love taking care of him*smiles* it's like I'm actually taking care of a wittle baby hehehe... And the fact he has a Paci named Nunu as well bro... Jesus Christ... That's literally a perfect name for a Paci... Jesus Christ I love this boy to fucking death he's just perfect... Van Van if you're reading this I love you so much, and I always will.. more than anything on this entire planet with all my heart
The Rp: I love it. I wouldn't change a thing about
Van Van and the RP are the only positive things that happened... now onto the negatives and there are A LOT!
College: I'm stressed TF out rn and my friend group is fucking annoying. They're so annoying to the point where I don't even talk to them outside at school. Like bro deadass it's always "Yo Bro where you at", or "Jordie what's the answer to this or Jordie I need help or Jordie blah blah blah" Nadia with all do respect shut the fuck up and go meat ride your fat ass on someone's dick that isn't m- oh wait a minute at least I know how to pull a guy(Van) if I wanted too. Thank god I have Van/Vanni I don't want that disgusting pig of a bitch and Van/Vanni is the only girl/guy I WANT. Atp I should literally suggest she goes into a pig pen and fuck all of the pigs inside of it.
Don't even get me started on Juan Pablo bro. Nigga is deadass annoying and doesn't know how or WHEN to SHUT THE FUCK UUUUUPPPPPPPPPPP. And how tf do you let yourself nearly get groomed by a 30 year old man on Grindr. In fact why the hell do you have it TOO BEGIN WITH!? It literally took Sley to intervene and shit before you actually did something you regret and you even lied about your age... you told the man you were 18!?!!!! What the actual fuck is wrong with your retarded ass JP. WHY WOULD YOU FUCKING DO THAT!!?? Jordie calm down it's fine y'all talked about it and that's ok he knows not to do that shit now. I know I know, but I don't want him to get groomed let alone get fucking robbed or killed cause of a cat fish. I know how it feels to be groomed
Sley and Neha are ok tho, but I barely see them. Oh well
Stressing me tf out. I already missed mad classes this semester and I be in the library during those days lol but the grind is gonna be worth it. Cause imma get my degree, move in with Van, get a high paying job, and start a family with him. Jesus college is such a pain in the ass, but hey at least there's that story we have to do the for the essay. Remember the first day me and Van Rp'd I'm gonna do that, but we introduced Will earlier and she kidnapped Vanni and held her hostage. Imma need Gabe so I'm bringing his ass back from the dead so that's Lovely ASF.
What's crazy is that I still here about that stupid ass piece of shit Krisy a lot from Paola. When we do talk that is it's like once or twice every 3 weeks. She fills me in on what's going on and shit and how Brayden and Kris keeps Harrison her. It's like Brayden I get she cheated, but dude you pushed her to that point. You were a serious piece of shit towards her and she felt so unhappy in that relationship. Can I be honest here, they are ALL in the wrong... Paola SHOULDN'T had cheated with Brayden and she should have just told him he lost feelings for her and shit instead of being so secretive around him. Ax from the rp said it himself.. "cheating is the unforgivable sin" and me and Van have been cheated on before. But hey at least Krisy cheating on me got me Van in the first place LOL SMD KRISY!!!
But yea they all in the wrong, Brayden shouldn't had escalated this leaking all of Paolas nudes and shit... nigga is in possession of CP... Her Nudes are LITERAL CHILD PORN! And Brayden is a minor too mind you... so theoretically They all get in trouble. Krisy had the AUDACITY to take Brayden side, but she's a hypocrite cause... Again she's a cheating scumbag... And not to mention Paola had gotten doxxed too and she COULD have stopped it but didn't so now she has to face the same punishment LOL. It's a bunch of retarded shit but hey at least IM not involved.
Wait its 2:19 AM.. I should be sleeping 😭😭 WTF!!??? Alright lemme check on the server rq to see if anyone new joined ok nope. Okay going nini now. Nini!!

Craving For Something Spiritual
MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK
=========================
+ James 5:13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.

VERSE OF THE DAY

+ 1 Peter 2:2-3 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

THOUGHTS:
=======================
When I crave something, I usually can't stop craving it until I have it. It can be cake, pies, ice cream, whatever. I want it, and I get it the next day. I think I have told you all about this new ice cream place here. I saw in an email that they had this new ice cream, and I wanted to try it, but it was packed each time I went by there.
One day, I went, and they had changed their opening time. The next day, I couldn’t go, but this weekend, I didn’t care what I had to do. I was going to get that ice cream shop. Well, I got it. That night, I got home and sat down. I ate it, which was everything I hoped for and more, but I wanted to save some of it for the next day. But when I say the ice cream was great, it was terrific.
Do you see how much I kept trying to get the ice cream? How many of us have a craving like this for God's word that we realize we must have and need it? How many of you see that we can't function
spiritually without it?? How many of us try to soak in his word?
Mathew 4:4 But He answered and said, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.’
Today's word says we should crave it like newborns crave milk. How many of us crave it daily to have it in our lives? A lot of us don’t because as we crave the word, it has the supernatural power to change what’s in us around us; it has the power to pierce even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit and the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. It has this amazing power, and many of us are ready to read but not change.
The word of God tells us to walk in a manner worthy, but how can we walk this way if we never read our word to walk in that way??? the only way to know it is to read it and not just read it but apply it; how many of you are applying the word to your lives?
Psalm 34:8 Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
We must taste the word and try to see how great God is because when we do, we will always go to him and make him our refuge. The problem is today, we make everything else a refuge and safety net, and we make everything else our everything, but do we do this with God?
Psalm 9:10 Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
The Holy Spirit tells us we must trust him; it's like our houses. We trust and believe that whoever built our homes did it right, so when we sleep at night, we won't have to worry about things on the outside getting in; we trust our accounts to hold our money, we trust our jobs to give us what we need from it but why can't we trust in God for everything, why can't we trust that when we pray to him, he hears us and that every craving that we look for or everything we look for in everything else we can have that with him.
1 Corinthians 3:1-2 But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now, you are not yet ready,
Some of us aren’t ready; we want to be ready for solid food, but just like infants, we can’t give them a jar of baby food if they aren’t at that stage in their lives; we have to make sure that a baby can handle that kind of food and that’s just like us, God has to make sure that the spiritual food we are partaking in we can digest it because if we can’t it will cause us to retreat to what we know that’s comfortable and that’s what we all are looking for, which is Comfort .
Sometimes, in our walk, things aren’t comfortable; things will be challenging, but if we do it with God, if we go with God, it won’t harm us. Babies must be monitored when they eat to make sure the baby doesn’t choke. God is sitting back, He knows how much pressure will help change us and what kind of pressure will divert us. But we must trust in God, through our development.
Having a craving for something is good, but we need to make sure what we are craving won’t change us. Paul knew what the Corinthians needed and what they could handle; 1 Corinthians 14:20 Brothers, do not be children in your thinking. Be infants in evil, but in your thinking, be mature”.
He told them not to be children in their thinking but to be mature in their thinking; we have to start growing and changing our mindset as we grow in God; we can’t stay the same even though a lot of us aren’t ready because we won’t let go of the bitterness and the petty actions, and unnecessary fights why because we don’t want to let go, but to grow in God we must let go!
***Today, we learned what we must and should do and that cravings are inevitable, but what are we craving? God wants us to grow to be bigger and better, and God wants us to let go of how we used to do things.
Job 17:9 Yet the righteous holds to his way, and he who has clean hands grows stronger and stronger.
We grow strong as we have clean hands; a lot of us don’t pay any attention to the activities we get into or the things we say, we just do whatever we feel, but as we live a clean life, we grow strong in God, and we grow stronger in our walk. Some of us must take the time to see where we are in our walk with Christ and what we need to improve. Have you asked him? If you haven’t asked him today, see what he says, and work on improving for him! ©Seer~ Prophetess Lee
========================
PRAYER
========================
Heavenly Father, thank you for the word; today, we ask you to help us see what we need to improve on, help us seek you every day, and help us change according to you. Lord, help us also to crave things of the spirit. Lord, we give you our lives and praise you for everything. Lord, we need you so badly, and we realize this; we thank you in Jesus' Name Amen

How to run a youth musical theatre camp when you have no idea what you're doing and also no money
Hello! My name is Z. Nice to meet ya. I am a composer, playwright, and overall nerd about music and theatre. I recently ran a kid's musical theatre camp completely from scratch. And I mean completely. And I learned a lot. For my Gold Award, I need a "Global Link" and a level of sustainability to my project. I couldn't make it sustainable in my own community, so hey! How about I make it more sustainable... across the globe! By making information about how to run a project like this more accessible, and laid out step by step.
On my blog will also be a PDF of the musical I wrote for this project, as well as links to all the music for it. They are free to use for whatever projects you so desire. I don't have any need to profit off this musical.
Let's get started, shall we?
General table of contents: 1. Starting questions to ask yourself 2. Where to get money??? 3. What show to do?? 4. Location??? 5. How do I teach a show? 6. Set and other tech stuff 7. Getting people to sign up 8. Final thoughts
Starting questions
So, you want to run a musical theatre camp. Good starting point, but that's not enough to make much progress. There's a few things you need to figure out before you can tackle anything else.
In no particular order:
How long will this camp be, and when, and what time?
A week? 3 days? 1 day? 3 weeks? 2 months? Will it be during the summer? The school year? Winter break? What specific dates? Will the camp run all day? Just afternoons? Just mornings? Overnight stay? The answer to these things changes a LOT.
The less time you meet, the less you will be able to do. And the shorter and less complex your show must be. You must also consider when your target demographic will be free. I nailed down my dates for my camp a year in advance. I was able to not only be sure I was finished by the date I set, but think hard about what dates were best. Generally, for kids, a summer camp is best. Times are important, too. Mostly for parents. If it starts in the middle of the day, a lot of kids won't be able to make it since their parents work. Do whatever works for you and your plan, but these are important things to consider.
2. What ages/grades will you consider?
This is a hard one. My target demographic was ages in my community without access to theatre, so this question was easy for me, but it may be less so for others. I'd suggest not going any younger than 3rd graders, but that's absolutely not a hard and fast rule.
One important thing to consider is, if you have a wide age gap, the older kids having less respect for the younger ones and working with them less. This happened in my camp. It caused some big problems the first few days.
The older the kids, the less one-on-one guidance they will typically need, but that doesn't apply for everyone. Just a general theme.
If you work with teenagers, you also need to consider a lot of us work summer jobs.
3. Who will you have to help you? And can you pay them?
Please, have at LEAST two people helping. Even if one of those people sits and does nothing most of the time. You cannot handle it alone.
If you can only get that minimum, that's alright. However, it does change the ages you can work with and the number of people you can have (see number 4). A large camp requires a pretty large staff.
The payment question may not be answerable for a while, but keep it in mind.
4. How many students do you want to work with?
This question relates a lot to what show you want to do. Bigger shows require bigger casts, and vice versa. The more students you have, the more people teaching you need
Will you have a cutoff where you'll start turning people away, or will you take everyone who wants to join? Will it be okay if there is a large number of ensemble characters? Once you have your show decided, you need to come up with a minimum number of students. Any less than that number, and the show can't really function.
5. Can you feed the students meals?
If this is a yes, you have a LOT more money and planning needed. Feeding a lot of kids lunch and/or dinner every day is not cheap or easy. You'll need a plan for each day and people to make the meals. I didn't do this for my camp, so I can't say how much it would cost per kid per day, but I can tell you it's a lot.
These questions are pretty complicated, as they have layers upon layers of questions within them, but without them, your camp will have no legs to stand on.
I decided for my camp to do a 5 day camp from Tuesday-Saturday during late June of 2023. I would accept kids going into the 3rd grade all the way through kids going through the 7th grade. I would get some of my friends and family to help run the camp, but I wouldn't need a large number, because I was going to run a small show, with only a small group of kids. I didn't know the specifics for some of it, but I had a great starting point.
Where to get money?
A tough, tough question. But don't freak out. My camp ended up costing me about $250, which is INCREDIBLY cheap. I found ways to cut costs all over the place. I ended up collecting about twice that in funds and donated the excess to my local high school theatre program.
I was lucky enough to have my Gold Award as a source of funding itself. My troop gave me $250 from our savings under the condition that I kept good track of all the money I spent. Which I had to do for my Gold Award anyway, so. I also collected direct donations from people who came to the show, and I asked the parents if they'd pay a $25 fee if they could. It was entirely optional if it wasn't within their means.
I recommend not having a fully required cost for parents. Something that should be given if they can, but if they can't, its no big deal! Frame this as financial aid. That is what it is, in the end.
Here are a couple of ideas for money:
Go to small business fairs in your community. Explain to them you're looking for sponsorship for an arts project. You will certainly get some "no"s, but small businesses can be incredibly generous. Put their name in your program as thanks, write them a thank you card, and boom, that's a sponsorship! And if you can't see them in person, look up your local chamber of commerce and send some emails. Less charm than in person, but you'll get something.
Set out a donation jar at your show. I got $60 just from doing this at my ONE PERFORMANCE! I donated it straight to the theatre, but this can be a great way to make money. Again, its hard to rely on other people's generosity, but you'd be surprised at how much people are willing to give when they care about something.
Another way to get donations are just to ask for PHYSICAL donations. Stuff. Paint, costumes, snacks, food, water, anything! Not a way to get money, but you'll have less you'll need to buy.
Again, fees. If you can, get a sponsor to pay any fees people can't, there's your financial aid. Parents are used to paying people to teach their kids for camps. It's pretty standard. Your price might be high, or it might be low. Mine was $25 dollars because I had enough money from my troop to not need them to pay much. But if you're running a massive show, you might need $100+ fees per kid. Change it however you need, but above all else, DO NOT LET IT BE A BARRIER FOR ENTRY. Poor kids deserve to love the arts, too.
How about cutting costs? Again, I spent about $250 for my entire camp. That's cheap. VERY cheap. How can you cut these costs?
Do a simple show. That's probably the best thing. I spent about $20 on set and costumes total. I did a show based in a school, so the kids just wore their own clothes. For the set, I got chairs and desks from the school I ran the camp in, and let the kids decorate them with paint pens and markers on poster board. It didn't look professional, but I didn't need it to. I just needed it to be functional and SPECIAL for the kids.
Get parents to donate snacks. Not much room for elaboration, but food is where most of my money spent went. If parents are able to donate snacks, you'll have less to spent.
If you are going to be serving meals, you can also set up a system of each day, a different kid's parent needs to provide the meals. Allow room for error here. Some parents cannot afford the materials to make that much food. This could be something you ask during sign up.
Get a location you don't need to rent or pay for in any capacity. I will discuss this more in the section about location.
If you need helpers, possibly recruit college students. Pay them if you can, but they would need less pay if you can arrange this as college credit for them.
Or high school theatre kids! Especially anyone in International Thespian Society. They can get points for helping! Pay them if you can, but again, there's another form of payment here.
Recruit anyone looking for volunteer hours. And trust me, with all the honor societies in high schools, there are plenty of high school kids who will absolutely help with a camp to check some hours off their list. And they can't accept payment.
Paying for something like this is a scary, scary task. I know. There are ways to get through it.
What show to do?
This depends on a lot. Small budget? Probably a one act based in a school or in modern times to lower prop nd costume costs. But the bigger your cast gets, the harder it is to do a one act. It's a balancing act.
There's a lot of (insert fairytale or other kids story here) The Musical Jr.s out there. Usually those are one acts, but you can do them with a bigger cast as they usually have quite a lot of characters. If that's not your style or doesn't fit your cast, I'd recommend finding a local theatre director and asking for help. There's a show out there for everyone.
I took a very nontraditional approach. I wrote my own show. To be fair, I was suited very well to this as an aspiring playwright and composer, but if you're not these things, you can still do it! Well, maybe not you yourself. This would be a time to rely on your community.
Finding a writer to take this on should be pretty easy. Find a way to contact a local high school English teacher. Trust me, they'd have at least a few students willing to write something. I'd pay them if you could, but many would be willing to do it for fun or school credit. I know I would have.
They could either write something original under whatever conditions you need for the show to work in your budget, or they could adapt a public domain story.
Finding a composer is a bit trickier, especially on a budget. But there's a good chance there's on at your high school or a local college if it offers the degree. Again, send an email or two. Compensate if you can, but I would've done this for free if my choir teacher came to me with this opportunity.
If you have a small cast of 9-12 year olds, my show, Marigold and the Friend who Did Not Sing, is free to use, as mentioned in the intro. It will be posted on my blog shortly after this post is made, with the script and all the music. It's a 15-20 minute one-act with seven characters. Marigold is upset that his best friend refuses to sing in a musical, so he tries to get him to sing however he can. Eventually he realizes that Niko doesn't have to sing if he doesn't want to.
Location??
There are so many options. Renting out a place is expensive, but if that's not possible for you, then there are other options.
Run an outdoor camp! Out of your backyard or the public park or something of that sort. Weather is an issue here. If you live somewhere where summers are REALLY hot or winters are REALLY cold, you'll have to run something in the fall or spring, when kids are in school. And there's always the possibility of being rained out. And there are lots of kids with outdoor allergies. For some people, however, this would be be the best (and cheapest) location. Provide sunscreen!
If you have cooperative roommates and/or family and enough space, you could use your house. Space for the audience could be tough, but if you needed a different place to perform, you could rent or find a place for just the performance(s).
A middle school or high school auditorium. This is what I did. If its a public school, you probably don't need to pay. However, I had to have a member of staff there at all times and I had to go through an approval process. This may be similar in other places. There's downsides but this was overall VERY worth it for me
How do I teach a show?
This was my biggest worry for the camp. I had only attempted to teach before. I had never directed a show before and I had never taught music before and I knew NOTHING about choreography. I also had never worked with kids before.
There are a few things you need to have people who can teach. Hopefully, you can do one or more of these. But again, at least get ONE other helper who can take over when you need. Two people can catch each other's slack.
Auditions: Here's my recommended audition schedule. Do more research or pull from your own auditions, but this worked really well for me.
Introductions. Get to know your students and their level of experience! And let them start to get to know each other, too. It's gonna be awkward for a while and that's okay.
Read through. Randomly assign everyone a part to read, including someone to read stage directions (could be you yourself doing that). This is just so everyone gets a sense of the show. Doesn't matter if they act it out well. This is just for basic stuff. Any song that comes up, let them know you're gonna play the track for it and no one needs to sing yet.
Character decisions. Give them some time to think about what character(s) they want to audition for. If anyone seems lost or confused, give them some help, especially any younger kids.
Singing auditions + dancing auditions (if applicable). For some shows, I recommend everyone do the singing audition. For others, I'd recommend doing it opt-in. And that also relates to the age of the kids and their experience. I did mine opt it with the only requirement being that if you were going for the character with a solo song or the main character (who had a lot of solo singing), you had to audition. If you weren't going for them you could still sing for your audition, but you weren't required to. About half my kids sang for me during the audition, and a few of them were SUPER shy, but by the show, I got them all to sing (except the kid playing Niko, of course. That goes against the whole point). You can do these solo with only you or a musical director, or they can be done in front of the group. It depends on a lot of things. Don't scare the kids off. Let them get comfortable before putting them on the spot in front of others. As for dancing auditions, I recommend you (or a choreographer) make a short 16 count simple dance to teach everyone. This could be something that could be incorporated into the show, or maybe not. Just to gauge how well they manage with basic (or more complex, depending on the show) dancing. Again, only do this if its needed.
Scene read throughs. Write down what everyone is auditioning for, and have them read through scenes, cycling through who wants to play who. I don't really know how to explain this further. It's the most basic part of theatre auditions. Have them read specific lines if you need, but do this until you have the characters set or have a good enough idea to sit and figure it out.
I'd also recommend not posting the cast list for everyone to see. Either pull them each aside before announcing everyone's parts, or send them home with the cast list. Let them process it alone for a minute.
Blocking/Choreo: I'd suggest, once you pick your show, get a script ASAP. Print it out, and make notes for every single scene as you envision it on a stage. Stage directions, business, props, possible costumes. Basically, get the mental blocking DOWN. If this isn't something you can do, find a director who is able to do this. For the songs, do the same thing. This may be a lot more involved due to counts and all. And same thing, if this isn't a thing you can do, find a choreographer.
Once you get to the actually blocking, set aside plenty of time to do this. A whole day for a full show, maybe half a day for a one act. It's boring and takes a long time. Kids will get bored. Get it over with ASAP. Do every scene and give them the directions you have written down. Then, run them through the scenes and make corrections as you need. Do the same with choreo, but I'd recommend, unless they come with a naturally very good sense of rhythm, to not teach choreo until they know the music.
Character work: You will likely have a vision for each character that isn't executed perfectly. That's normal. Work with them on it. Have them run certain lines in different ways. Work on how they portray their age and their walk and how they stand and talk, if that's something that you'd like to do. Work on making things feel natural on stage. This will be very hard for some things and that's okay. Guide them, stay patient, and be proud of them when they put the pieces together and get it right. This kind of thing is very hard to explain. If you are in theatre, you probably have a good understanding of character work, but you might not. I can answer any specific questions if you send them in.
Projecting work: Especially for new actors, this is NEEDED. Send one person to the back of the room. Have each person read a line of theirs, or a tongue twister, or something of the sort from the stage. Have the person in the back let them know if their projection and diction is good. They won't be perfect. But working on this will make them SO much better.
Music: I've been a musician much longer than I've been an actor and I did this very badly. I recommend singing along with them and working in small groups for songs. Remove harmonies if they can't do it. Have someone who can play at least a little bit of piano on your team to guide the singing. If it's not perfect, it's okay. As long as it's comprehensible and makes some sense. Reading music is hard. If they can't do it, try to explain some of the basics, but really, all they need to know is that up means higher and down means lower. If they learn the rhythms from you, they don't need to know how to read all of them. But it all depends on their age group and how much they know coming in and how confident you are at being able to teach them.
Teaching is hard. I made a lot of mistakes. But I figured things out in the end and so will you. Play videos! Bring in people to help last minute if need be. Don't be ashamed to ask for help.
Set and other tech stuff
Depending on where you perform (and what time) you might not need lighting and your sound system may just be a bluetooth speaker and an iPhone. But if you're in a theatre, I'd recommend getting a basic understanding of how to work the soundbooth.
I have no real advice to give you. I never did sound or light tech before this show. I just got some help and learned how to make it as simple as possible, with it only being a slider for the lights and one button for the music. My advice is this: find lighting techs and sound techs. Talk to the ones at local high schools or community theatre programs. I had one person come in before all this to help and I had to make three emergency phone calls because I didn't know what to do. That's fine. If you can get one to be there the whole camp and performance, that's awesome! But if you can't you will find a way. And if all else fails, do the show with the house lights on and a bluetooth speaker on stage connected to your phone or a computer. But y'know... avoid that if you can.
As for the set, there are a lot of layers to it. You can go all out and build an entire wooden set with platforms and changing parts and smoke machines etc. etc. Or you can put some chairs and a table on the stage and cover them with poster board you had the kids doodle on. It depends. Mostly on the age of the kids, the money, the location, and the time you have. Building a whole set usually takes up to a week of full work. You can't really do it in a home or public park. And buying that wood and paint and tools is expensive. It's also dangerous! Don't do something like this with younger kids. Either do it yourself or with a team ahead of time. At most, let them paint with heavy watch and with full coverings of their clothes. Maybe even buy them paint clothes. Paint will get everywhere. Especially with kids. It's like magic.
If you have kids 11-12 or up, then get a non-liability contract signed if you want to do something like this. They are capable, but it's still dangerous. I have a friend who's gotten two concussions doing theatre construction because things got dropped on her head. Heavy, wooden things. Don't set yourself up to get sued.
If you go the construction route, make a basic blueprint doodle and set aside maybe two weeks or time, or a few days less if you want your students to paint. Get some people who know what their doing, the paint colors you want, lots of screws and drills, any wood or other materials you need (make a friend with a pickup truck or van), and a lot of patience. After the show, set aside about 1 full day to deconstruct. Taking stuff apart is a lot easier than putting it together.
You can also always go simple. I got 6 chairs and an old desk and covered them in about $8 worth of colored and doodled poster board that I let the kids make themselves. You could have them paint set pieces if you buy them yourself. You could get a shelf or two and cover it with small objects or books. You can get fake plants and other non building required objects to "fill out" your set. If you want, you could involve the kids in this and ask them what they think. I can guarantee they probably have really good ideas.
Getting people to sign up
Google forms. Make a Google form asking all needed questions. It's so easy and you can send it out in a QR code or link.
Actually getting people to find it is the hard part. I'd recommend making some connections. I had my family post about it on their Facebook accounts so that parents in the area saw it. I also had my choir director post about it since she knows so many parents. Most of my sign ups came from her.
The more people you need, the earlier you should send out the sign up form. I only needed 6-7 people, and I had about 2 months of the form being out, and I barely made it. Take advantage of any connections you have. Print flyers and post them around if you can. Talk to your friends and find out of they know anyone who'd be interested. Do it as early as you can, and you will be able to get the sign ups you need.
Include the price and financial aid options in the sign up. And the show. And the cast number. And when you will stop sign ups. Any information that you've got, put it on the form.
Final thoughts
You've got this. This is not an easy thing to pull off when you aren't experienced. But its worth it. I grew to love the kids I worked with. It was one of the best experiences of my life, and I wouldn't trained what I learned about theatre and about myself for the world.
My musical is free to use, and if it works for you, please use it. The PDF and the music will be in a separate post on my account.

Monday of the Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Readings of Monday, July 24, 2023
Reading 1
Ex 14:5-18
When it was reported to the king of Egypt that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his servants changed their minds about them. They exclaimed, “What have we done! Why, we have released Israel from our service!” So Pharaoh made his chariots ready and mustered his soldiers six hundred first-class chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt, with warriors on them all.
Responsorial Psalm
Exodus 15:1bc-2, 3-4, 5-6
R./ Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory.
I will sing to the LORD, for he is gloriously triumphant; horse and chariot he has cast into the sea. My strength and my courage is the LORD, and he has been my savior. He is my God, I praise him; the God of my father, I extol him. R./ Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory.
The LORD is a warrior, LORD is his name! Pharaoh’s chariots and army he hurled into the sea; the elite of his officers were submerged in the Red Sea. R./ Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory.
The flood waters covered them, they sank into the depths like a stone. Your right hand, O LORD, magnificent in power, your right hand, O LORD, has shattered the enemy. R./ Let us sing to the Lord; he has covered himself in glory.
Gospel
MT 12:38-42
Some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Jesus, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” He said to them in reply, “An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. Just as Jonah was in the belly of the whale three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. At the judgment, the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and there is something greater than Jonah here. At the judgment the queen of the south will arise with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and there is something greater than Solomon here.”

part 1~ part 2~ part 3~ part 4~ part 5~ part 6~ part 7~ part 8~
The next morning, Y/n stirred away as sunshine heated her face. Her eyes fluttered open and out of instinct, she threw her arm to the side expecting to feel Florence. Instead, she felt the hard cold floor. The diamond sat up, letting the blanket fall from around her chest as she looked around the greenhouse in search of the blonde.
“Florence?” The y/h/c called out before standing up.
She walked around every flower and plant that was in the greenhouse. The diamond did not stop until she reached the front door and that’s when she noticed that the Princess’ horse was gone. Feeling stunned, Y/n turned around and quickly got dressed as she resisted the urge to cry.
The love of her life left without saying goodbye. Florence went back to Oxford for God knows how long, leaving Y/n alone. The diamond was stuck with Charles now and she didn’t know how to get out of it. All she knew, is that she must return to the castle in hopes to find the Princess there.
Once she was dressed, Y/n ran outside and got on the horse, quickly galloping back to the castle. Queen Charlotte sat outside, drinking her morning tea as two ladies fanned her with a big feathered fan. The royal turned her head when she heard the horse, looking at her diamond with a confused expression.
“Miss Johnson.” Her Royal Highness began as she placed down her tea cup. “I thought you had returned with Florence.”
“Your majesty.” Y/n said and got down from the horse before curtsying. “Is the Princess still here?”
“No dear, you just missed her.” Queen Charlotte replied and shrugged as she lifted the cup again.
“Oh.” Y/n frowned and stared at the ground, feeling how her eyes filled with tears. “I shall go bathe and change so we can continue the preparations for the wedding.”
“Of course, yes.” The Queen nodded with a smile. “I have a few options for the cutlery.”
The diamond curtsy and walked up to the castle with a frown on her face, which didn’t go unnoticed by the Queen. She turned to look at the girl as she slowly walked up the steps. It was a noticeable sad strut, as if she was dragging something along her path. The royal turned her body back, looking forward to her grand backyard and remembered all the things that occurred between her niece and her diamond.
The way that they despised each other at first but the more time they spent together, the less they bickered. Queen Charlotte recalled all the moments Florence would beg her to invite Y/n to stay for a few days, giving the cheap excuse that it was just to strengthen their friendship. Even the moments where her niece would roll her eyes at the mention of Charles Deighton or his relationship with Miss Y/n.
She also remembered all the times she would hear bedroom doors creak in the middle of the night or the way she heard the horses gallop away. ‘What are these ladies hiding?’ Queen Charlotte thought to herself as she squinted her eyes in thought while sipping from her tea.
—---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following two weeks went by slowly, making Y/n agonize every passing second. Ever since the Princess returned to Oxford, the diamond began to send her letters signing them with a fake name in hopes that she would reply to them. Florence never did. Y/n would ask the mailman everything he went by her house or the castle. And every time he would reply with a sad smile as he shook his head.
The diamond’s smile had turned to a permanent frown. Nothing seemed to cheer her up. Maryann would visit her and help her with the wedding planning from time to time, whenever she could since wife duties weigh on her shoulders. She wanted to make sure that her friend didn’t feel alone, especially with a situation like hers.
But at least the day was bright. There were no clouds in sight, making it good for the wedding reception in the garden of the castle. The church was decorated with lilac flowers and small candles. The aisle was lined with a few tall vases carrying white tulips. The seats were being filled with Charles’ family along with Y/n’s. Lord Deighton greeted everyone as he walked down the aisle to stand on the altar with his groomsmen.
Y/n sat in front of her vanity as her mother finished pinning back her hair. The girl frowned at the thought of Florence’s absence. A speck of fear in her heart made her believe that the blonde was not to return to London. That she would remain in Oxford, marry a man or a woman and continue her royal duties there.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The father of the bride stood at the entrance of the church, greeting everyone that walked in while keeping a close eye on Charles. Two week before, at the engagement ball, his daughter and the Princess had confessed Lord Deighton’s actions. This caused the man to be furious. Why would someone take advantage of his daughter like that? Lord Johnson could not remain quiet, he had to say something. So when most of the guests were seated, he marched down the aisle towards Charles.
“Lord Deighton.” Lord Johnson called out, walking towards the man. “May I speak with you for a moment?”
Charles nodded and walked away, out of the altar towards the priest’s study. Lord Johnson closed the door behind him and stood there, thinking of a way to confront him. His daughter was everything to him so just knowing that someone was treating her that way made his blood boil.
“Is everything alright?” Charles asked, beginning to feel a bit nervous.
“Nothing is alright, Lord Deighton.” The man answered and clenched his jaw. “Not after what was brought to my attention.”
“And what would that be?”
“You are marrying my daughter for our family’s money..” Lord Johnson spoke as Charles opened his eyes in shock. “Something you wish to add?”
“Lord John-”
“I will never allow you to step foot in my house ever again!” He shouted, stepping forward towards Charles causing him to stumble back. “You are an embarrassment to your family and I would never welcome you into mine!”
“Then you should tell your daughter to stop kissing women!” Lord Deighton shouted. “Especially royalty!”
“Do not speak about my daughter that way!”
“I speak about her however I like!” Charles shouted back, stepping forward. “She lost all respect the moment she became a whore and started sleeping with the princess!”
A fist collided with Lord Deighton’s jaw, causing him to stumble back onto the desk. Lord Johnson stepped forward and punched him again, striking his nose. Charles pushed the man back and threw his fist towards him, connecting it with his temple. He crashed against a small table, giving Charles the opportunity to corner him. Lord Deighton grabbed Lord Johnson’s collar, pulling him close to his face in anger.
“You will regret doing that old man.” He said with gritted teeth and moved one hand to grab the man’s neck. “Do not mess with me again… I will end you.”
“Is that a threat?” Lord Johnson muttered and began to cough hysterically once Charles removed his hand.
“Just wait.” Lord Deighton muttered and walked out of the study, leaving the man to catch his breath as he rubbed his neck.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“It’s time my darling.” Lady Johnson announced, walking in the bedroom to see her daughter standing in front of the mirror.
Y/n’s dress was white and lace with short sleeves that dropped from her shoulders. Her veil was long and pinned to her hair, falling gracefully down the back of her dress. Her frown persisted as she fidgeted with the diamond bracelets that laid over her gloves. The diamond lifted her head and stared at her mother through the mirror before nodding and turning around.
Lady Johnson held the train of the dress while Maryann walked next to the bride, holding both of their bouquets. Lord Johnson stood by the doors of the church, fixing the collar of his dress shirt as he recalled his encounter with Charles. Unfortunately, it was too late for him to do something. He was about to walk his daughter down the aisle in order for her reputation to not be ruined.
“My love.” Lady Johnson said, gaining her husband’s attention.
He lifted his head and smiled at his wife as she walked towards him. Lord Johnson grabbed her hands in his, lifting them up to kiss them. They smiled sweetly at each other before turning to their daughter who stood there with her bouquet as she took deep breaths.
“It’s time darling.” Lady Johnson smiled and walked to her daughter to cup her cheeks. “Best of luck.”
“Thank you Mama.” Y/n smiled and her mother pecked her forehead before walking into the church to sit in the front, close to the Queen.
Maryann opened both doors as Lord Johnson grabbed his daughter's hand, placing it over his arm. The orchestra began to play, making everyone turn to the doors to see Maryann. She turned to Y/n one last time, giving her a small nod before beginning to walk down the aisle. Once she made it, everyone stood and turned to the door.
Lord Johnson and the diamond began to walk slowly into the church as she lifted her head to look at the guests. She looked at both sides, giving everyone a small smile until she met a certain pair of eyes. A pair of beautiful green eyes that made Y/n stop dead in tracks.
“Darling?” Lord Johnson whispered, leaning into her ear. “What’s the matter?”
Y/n remained quiet and turned her head to look at Charles who was staring at her angrily, feeling eager to finally seal their deal. She looked back at Florence and then at the ground as she felt herself become dizzy. Lord Johnson looked up, staring at the Princess and back at his daughter who began to look pale.
“Darling? Are you alright?” He asked again as she lifted her head.
Y/n’s legs began to shake, making it a bit hard for her to stand. Her body began to heat up creating a thin layer of sweat. Her hands began to shake as her vision became clouded with white dots. The diamond’s hand went numb, letting go of the bouquet as her eyes rolled back while her body gave up and fell back.
Lord Johnson immediately caught her as the room filled with gasps. Lady Johnson ran to her daughter as well as Maryann and Florence. Y/n’s eyes were closed and her skin was covered in cold sweat. The blonde took Maryann’s place after she left to find a medic, taking the opportunity to finally touch her again. She traced her fingers along her cheek, calling out of her name over and over in hopes to see her eyes open.
“Y/n?” Florence whispered. “Love? Open your eyes, come on.”
“We must bring her to a chamber.” Lord Johnson said and moved one arm under knees and the under around her back.
He picked her up and walked down the aisle, the ladies following him, to see the priest showing him the way to the upstairs chamber. Lord Johnson did not care about carrying her up a flight of stairs. He didn’t care if he had to walk to Scotland with Y/n on his back. The man would do it in order for his only daughter to be alright.
Maryann moved around him and opened the door so Lord Johnson would place the diamond on the small twin bed in the corner of the room. He laid her down and stepped aside, letting the doctor check on her. Out of the corner of his eye, Lord Johnson saw the Princess standing by the door as she stared nervously at what was happening.
“She will be alright.” The doctor muttered, taking off his stethoscope before standing up. “Her heart is beating very fast but she requires time to calm down.”
“How much time? Her fiancé is waiting for her at the altar.” Lady Johnson said, uncrossing her arms to point out the door.
“She needs to be on bedrest for a whole day.”
“But what about the wedding?” The woman asked again, clearly being the only one who cared about the union.
“No one will be getting married at the moment.” The doctor shook his head before grabbing his briefcase before stepping outside with a sad smile.
Lady Johnson followed after him along with Lord Johnson who was determined to find Charles. Maryann stood there, drifting her eyes back and forth between Y/n and Florence. She curtsy, gaining the blonde’s attention.
“It’s lovely to see you again, Maryann.” The Princess smiled slightly before returning her eyes back to the diamond.
“You as well, your majesty.” The girl smiled. “I hope everything is alright back in Oxford.”
“Oh yes, yes, it is.” The blonde nodded as she fidgeted with her fingers, feeling a bit scared to ask the next question. “Was she angry with me?”
“No.” Maryann muttered, knowing exactly what the royal spoke about. “She was sad… upset but she was not angry.”
“I wanted to write back but my mother did not allow me.” Florence lowered her head.
“Y/n will forgive you when she wakes.” The girl nodded. “She will be very happy to see you and perhaps… you shall be the one thing to make her better.”
Maryann smiled and curtsy before walking out of the room, leaving the royal and the diamond alone. The blonde took a deep breath and pulled a chair next to the bed where Y/n laid as if she was sleeping. Florence grabbed the diamond’s hand, running her thumb over the top on her hand as she lovingly stared at her face. The way her lashes fell upon her cheeks and she remembered how peaceful she looked the last night they were together.
That night at the greenhouse, after they made love and gave each other the best pleasure of their life, Florence laid awake staring at Y/n as she slept. She tucked hair behind the diamond’s ear and traced her freckles with her fingertips. The blonde wished to do that now but was terribly afraid of someone walking in so she kept their hands together as she stared lovingly at the diamond.
“I’m here, love.” Florence whispered, trailing her fingers up to her face to tuck a piece of hair behind her ear. “I won’t leave you again, my diamond. I will stay right here with you.”
Y/n remained with her eyes closed, her chest raising and falling as she breathed softly. The blonde stared at their hands together and couldn't help but think about what it would be like if that was their wedding. She would’ve been waiting for the diamond at the altar with a wide smile on her face, watching as Y/n walked towards her.
Florence knew for a fact that Lord Johnson would have been ecstatic for his daughter and that Maryann would remain as the maid of honor, just like that evening. Lady Johnson’s presence was uncertain, due to the woman not knowing of the affair occurring with her daughter and the Princess. The blonde imagined Charles being long gone, away from London or better yet, in prison.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lord Johnson stomped into the church to find it empty. It had seemed that the guests were all taken back to the castle grounds in order to enjoy everything that was arranged there. He walked across the altar and quickly stopped as he heard murmurs along with giggles near the door. He didn’t really care who it was but a small voice in the back of his head told him to go check.
Charles was pressed against a young woman, who couldn't be older than Y/n, kissing her neck as she tilted her head back in pleasure. Anger ran through him once again but decided to take a more calm approach. They were in a church after all. He cleared his throat causing the girl to gasp as Charles parted from her in surprise.
“Lord Deighton.” The man said, giving Charles a death stare as the girl scurried away. “You seemed to be quite occupied as my daughter is laying unconscious on a bed.”
“I am sure she will be alright.” Charles smirked devilishly as he walked towards Lord Johnson. “She is in the hands of the Princess after all… or are her hands inside Y/n? I’m not quite sure now.”
Lord Johnson narrowed his eyes, staring in anger and pushed Lord Deighton away, making him crash against the wall. The man moved quickly, connecting his fist to Charles’ jaw and then his eye and then his stomach. He was moving fast, not giving Charles time to move.
“Oh my God! Lord Johnson!” Maryann shouted, walking into the church and stopping abruptly to see them fighting. “My lord, you must stop!”
The shouting could be heard outside, making Lady Johnson run inside to see the fight along with other guests who followed her. One of Charles’ friends stepped forward and pulled the man away from his friend as he pushed him off in anger. Lord Johnson struggled against his restraint but Charles took this opportunity to return the punch to the man’s jaw.
“Lord Deighton!” Lady Johnson exclaimed in shock. “Step away from my husband immediately!”
“Charles! Stop!” Maryann shouted in fear.
“Lord Deighton!” Queen Charlotte shouted angrily, making everyone gasp, never noticing that she had stayed waiting for her carriage and heard the ruckus. “Unhand this man at this instant, Lord Edwards!”
The young man let go of Lord Johnson and stepped back in fear. Lady Johnson ran to her husband, who had fallen to the ground, and quickly lifted his head to see his eye beginning to bruise as well as his cheek bone along with a bloody nose. Charles stood aside, trying to catch his breath as he stared at his bloody knuckles.
“Stay away from my daughter.” Lord Johnson muttered and spit on the ground before standing up. “Stay away from my family.”
“Your daughter is my fiancé, we all know she makes the last decision.” Charles replied, clenching his fist. “You, my lord, do not have a say in this.”
“Neither of you have a say in this!” The Queen shouted, getting their attention. “This is not the place nor time for this nonsense! You are all to be in the castle with the rest of the guests while my niece stays with Miss Jonson until she wakes! And I do not want to hear any opinions of this sort!”
The men nodded and moved outside where their carriages waited. Lady Johnson curtsy with an apology before stepping outside which left Maryann alone with Her Royal Highness. The girl was about to walk out when the Queen spoke.
“Miss Addington.” She said, making the girl turn around. “Could you please inform my niece that we are leaving?”
“Yes, of course-”
“And you will accompany me to the castle, there are many things I would like to discuss with you.” Queen Charlotte continued and stepped outside.
Maryann stood nervously, fidgeting with her fingers before running up the stairs to the chamber where Y/n laid. She opened the door abruptly, making Florence immediately pull away from the diamond before she turned around to let out a breath of relief.
“You scared me, what-”
“The Queen is returning to the castle, we all are but she asked me to come here and let you know.” Maryann interrupted, feeling nervous for the upcoming carriage ride. “In case Y/n wakes, there’s a carriage outside.”
“Yes, thank you.” Florence nodded. “We shall return once she wakes.”
“I shall get going but before I do..” The girl took a deep breath as she scratched her brow. “Lord Johnson and Charles had a terrible fight… physical fight that is.”
“What?” The blonde asked with wide eyes.
“Yes, it was… terrible.” Maryann shook her head. “The Queen was able to stop it but I’m sure they were fighting because of Y/n.”
“I’m sure they were.” The Princess muttered and turned to the girl laying in bed. “Thank you… for letting me know.”
“Of course, you deserved to know.” The girl nodded. “I shall go now, I cannot keep the Queen waiting.”
“Of course, yes.”
“Your majesty.” Maryann curtsy and walked out leaving Florence alone once again.
The blonde connected her hands with the diamond’s again and pressed a peck on them.
“Please open your eyes, love.” She whispered. “Let me see you again.”
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maryann climbed into the royal carriage, sitting across from the Queen. The horses began to gallop away from the church, making the carriage move side to side as the ladies sat in silence.
I am sure it was surprising for me to ask you to ride with me.” Queen Charlotte said, looking up at the girl who stared nervously.
“Indeed, it was, your majesty.” Maryann nodded and gulped.
“I was hoping to speak with you..” The woman said, looking out the window and back at the girl. “I wish to talk about my niece and Miss Johnson..”
Maryann stared in shock, feeling as if she was caught and she was.
“And I expect you to say every single detail of it, Miss Addington.”

Take Me By The Hand

requested: Heyy, could you do the ‘take my hand’ concept that you did with JJ, but with Harry?? Love your writing sm! Xxx
please see my pinned post for masterlist and request info!
One taking the others hand to help them up
You were 4 when you first met Harry properly. You’d been running around the playground, chasing after one of your friends when you’d taken a tumble and ended up in a small heap on the floor. Harry had come trotting over, sticking out a hand to help you up.
“Is your knee okay?”, he asked you.
“I don’t think so. It’s bleeding”, you told him sadly.
Harry kept hold of your hand, dragging you over to where the teachers on duty were standing. “She hurt her knee”, Harry said bluntly, poking one of the adults and then pointing to your knee.
Harry followed you and the teacher inside, sitting next to you as you had your knee cleaned and a plaster stuck on. The teacher left to fill in the accident book and write a note for you to take home. “I’m Harry”, the boy said as soon as she’d left.
“I’m Y/N”, you told him with a bright grin.
“Shall we be best friends?”, Harry asked with a toothy smile.
“Yes!”.
-
Holding hands whilst one walks on a small wall
You and Harry had stayed best friends from that day forward. There wasn’t anything that you didn’t do together. Harry would always be the first person you’d turn to whenever anything was wrong. He held your hand through every trip you took to the first aid room in your primary school and he shouldered his way through to sit next to you whenever you were in a classroom together.
Harry asked you out on your first date when you were both 15. You’d gone to his house after school, pestering him until he did his homework before you let him outside. He’d been pacing around the lawn in front of you, completely distracted from his kickaround with Josh, as you sat on the deck with Rosie.
“What’s wrong with him?”, she asked from beside you.
“I have no idea”, you told her. “You know what he’s like though”, you dismissed, all the while worrying about your best friend.
Rosie and Josh ran inside 20 minutes later to help set the table for dinner, leaving you and Harry alone in the back garden. “Are you gonna tell me what’s up with you?”, you asked him.
“Do you wanna go on a date?”, Harry blurted, leaving you stunned. The two of you were wide-eyed in surprise, both with words caught in your throat that you were desperately trying to say.
“Yeah”, you smiled.
A week later you met Harry by the beach. You’d seen each other through the week during school and spending the evenings after school together, but this evening felt different. This evening would be the one that potentially changed yours and Harry’s relationship forever.
You walked side by side down to the sea front, stopping and sitting on a small wall there. The two of you talked for hours, like you always did. Harry telling you about his family, about what happened in the few classes that you didn’t share together, telling you about his day and you returning the favour. You laughed well into the sunset, a soft silence falling over you as you watched the sun dip beneath the Guernsey horizon.
“It’s getting dark, and it’s cold. Let’s head back”, Harry suggested. As soon as you’d stood up, you stepped up onto the wall you’d just been sitting on, making you ever so slightly taller than Harry. With your arms held out for balance, you took a few tentative steps.
Harry reached out, grabbing your hand to keep you steady. You looked over to him, a shy smile on his face that you soon mirrored, paired with a rosy blush. Harry kept your hands entwined as you walked along the wall, matching his pace with yours so he didn’t rush you and cause you to stumble.
When you reached the end of the wall and jumped down, your hand didn’t leave Harry’s.
-
Holding hands whilst driving
Harry had never let whatever Youtube success he was gaining get in the way of the two of you. He always made time for you, always made you feel important. As soon as he’d learnt to drive and got a car, you and Harry would spend hours traversing the coastline, wind pouring into the window and billowing through your hair as you watched the cliffs and waves pass you by.
If you were in his car, Harry would insist on you being in the passenger seat, no matter who else was joining you. His hand would always rest on your thigh as he drove, only ever moving to change gear before quickly returning to its place.
Your fingers were wrapped loosely in his, making sure he was able to let go and reach for the gear stick whenever he needed to. The roads along the coastline were fairly straight, only ever bending slightly and no sharp turns in sight.
With the road empty bar from the two of you, Harry snuck a glance over to you. Your face was illuminated by the soft glow of the sun, hair windswept against the headrest and over your shoulders.
“I love you”, Harry said simply. It was no massive declaration, it didn’t have to be. You and Harry had been friends for 13 years, together for nearly 2. He’d loved you for as long as he could remember.
“I love you, too”.
-
Possessive hand holding
The first time you visited Harry in London was quite the nerve wracking experience. Aside from helping him move his stuff into his flat with Lux and Freezy, you’d barely seen him since he’d left the small island you both called home.
You waited by baggage claim, leg shaking with restless, nervous energy. It was just your luck that your suitcase was one of the last to make its way through and round the conveyor belt, the hall almost empty by the time you’d got your belongings.
Harry was waiting for you just outside arrivals, just as restless and nervous as you were. His eyes had been glued to the door from the minute you’d text him to let you know you’d reached baggage claim. Every person that walked out of the sliding doors that wasn’t you irritated him even further. It had only been a few weeks since he’d last seen you, and he was going mad.
At last, you trudged through the doors, looking a little worse for wear and incredibly pissed off. But you were there.
Harry wrapped his arms around you, holding you tight against his chest. “I’ve missed you so much”, he whispered into your hair. “The guys are already at my place, I hope that’s alright”, he told you. “They’re really excited to meet you”.
At Harry’s apartment building, he kept a tight hold on your hand as he led you upstairs. “Harry, it’s okay”, you assured him, squeezing his hand.
“Just nervous”, he told you.
Harry led you into the apartment, pausing for a second so you could drop your case by the door and kick your shoes off. His deathly tight grip on your hand never waned, like he was scared you were going to escape.
“Lads, Y/N”, Harry said awkwardly as he led you through the doorway. “Y/N, both of the Cals, Ethan, JJ, Simon, Josh, Tobi and Vik”, he introduced, pointing to each man in turn as he said their names.
“Nice to meet you”, you smiled happily.
You sat next to Harry on the sofa, squeezed up against his side. His hand was still gripping onto yours, squeezing tighter whenever any of the guys started to talk to you. “Harry”, you whispered, wiggling your fingers in his grip. “What’s wrong?”.
“Someone looks a little jealous if you ask me”, Freezy poked, wicked grin shooting across the living room.
“Oh, give over”, you scoffed, flicking Harry in the chest. “You buffoon. There’s nothing to worry about. Now ease up, you’re cutting off blood flow to my fingers”, you teased.
-
Rubbing their thumb over the other’s hand
“I don’t wanna leave”, you sighed, leaning further into Harry’s chest. “I miss you too much”, you whispered.
“I miss you, too”, he told you, wrapping both arms around your body and pulling you closer.
Harry watched over your shoulder as you opened your phone and pulled up flight times for a few weeks time, scrolling through them to find the cheapest option. Seeing Harry as often as possible was taking its toll on your finances and Harry knew you’d only accept so much help from him.
“What if this was the last time you flew home?”, Harry asked into your hair.
“What do you mean?”, you asked, thumb pausing over the screen.
“I spoke to Cal about it the other day, before you came”, Harry started. “How would you feel about moving to London?”, he asked.
You turned in his arms, facing Harry. “Are you being serious?”, you asked, a blossoming grin eager to bloom over your face.
“As I’ve ever been”, he whispered.
3 weeks later, you waited at the gate in Guernsey airport, surrounded by your family. “I’m so happy for you”, your mum whispered as she pulled you in for a tight hug. When she pulled back, you were both laughing through the tears that had begun to shed. “You and Harry deserve to be happy”, she told you.
They watched and waved as you walked towards the flight bridge, knowing that this would be the last time they’d see you for a while. You sat in your seat, watching as Guernsey got smaller and smaller below you. Although leaving home was never going to be an easy thing, you knew that you could build a home wherever Harry was.
You’d already shipped a lot of your stuff over to Harry, leaving you only to bring a large suitcase with you on your flight. You had no idea what to expect when you arrived, whether your stuff would be in Harry’s room or boxes strewn into whatever corner of the apartment they could fit into.
“Here”, Harry said as you sat in the car in the car park outside of the apartment building. He handed you a key on a keyring. “House keys”, he told you.
“Thank you”, you smiled
Harry pulled your case behind you as you walked up to the apartment. You stilled in front of the door, Harry pulling to a stop next to you. “Are you okay?”, Harry asked, voice filled with concern.
“Yeah”, you assured him quietly. “It’s just a lot, y’know”, you murmured.
“I know”. Harry’s thumb skimmed across the back of your hand in a soft, repetitive, soothing pattern. “I love you”, he reminded you, thumb never halting its soft reassurance against your skin.
“I know”, you smiled up at him. “But I love you more”.
-
Unconsciously searching for the other’s hand whilst asleep
If you were to ask Harry when he knew you’d be in his life forever, he’d have told you when the two of you were 5. Teasing from the other kids about you being best friends with each other was almost never-ending, but you and Harry always found a way to make light of it.
It wasn’t uncommon to see you and Harry playing with the dolls amongst the other little girls or racing around through the mud with the other boys. Everyone quickly learnt that where Harry went, you went and where you went, Harry went.
Harry knew you were going to be his bestest friend forever when he’d sat down on the grass to play and realised that there were no toys left. You’d come and sat down next to him and you’d played in the mud together, making daisy chains and mud pies and potions that you stirred with sticks, never caring about the dirt coating your pretty pinafore dress.
If you were to ask Harry when he knew that your relationship was meant to last, he would fumble and stumble over his words, not really knowing what to say. It was something that brought his friends great joy, asking what he saw in the future for the two of you. After all, you had been together since you were 15.
The night Harry realised you were his one great love was rather anti-climatic. There was no fireworks or mind-blowing kiss or Earth shattering sex. In fact, you were curled up asleep next to Harry, hair piled on top of your head and the hem of one of his Sidemen Clothing shirts riding up on your thigh.
He’d shut his computer down and gotten ready for bed, sliding in next to you as quietly as possible. Whilst he was lounging in bed next to you, attention focused on the screen of his phone, you’d started shifting beside him. Harry laid stock still, not wanting to wake you up with any movements.
Instead, you reached a hand across the bed, seemingly searching for something. When you couldn’t find whatever it was you were looking for, a frown settled itself onto your face. Harry was sure you were dreaming, but couldn’t resist closing the gap between your fingers and his.
The minute Harry hooked his fingers around yours, the frown on your face disappeared, replaced by a soft, blissful smile. Harry had known you long enough and knew you well enough to know that you were still fast asleep, the gentle sighs falling from your mouth being a dead giveaway.
So, if you asked Harry when he knew that your love was meant to last, he’d tell anyone that listened that it was the moment he realised you loved him even in your dreams.
