Do you have any headcanons as to velvette’s sexuality? Doesn’t have to be anything about a ship. I’ve been looking for wlw headcanons, and while I do adore Chaggie, I want to hear more about the other queer women in the show!

I do! I headcanon her as bisexual and aromantic. As I've mentioned before, Velvette has a complicated relationship with men. She finds men attractive and enjoys it when an attractive (and probably very brave) man asks her out, and they can have a good time. But most of the time, she finds them annoying, either too boring or too toxic. She has never met a man she would find as intense as her without him trying to dominate her. She finds those attempt disgusting and effort required to deal with men completely not worth it.

During her mortal life, she was too consumed by jealousy to truly understand how much said jealousy is fueled by desire. But after death, when she got rid of her insecurities and felt empowered, she realized how much she really appreciates femininity. She's aesthetically obsessed with female bodies but not in a creepy, male-gazey way. She doesn't feel the need to own or dominate them; she just wants to put them in nice, comfortable clothes that lend them the empowerment she feels and admire how good they look. She sometimes has temporary girlfriends, her favorite muses whom she likes to spoil with her money. But it never lasts for long because, like other messed up and evil people, she has serious intimacy issues and can't get attached. Since she doesn't have time, nor patience to establish relationships - even purely sexual - she sometimes visits Valentino's establishment. Girls working there are always happy to see her (though let's be honest, the bar is low) because she treats them well, and if someone becomes her favorite, she goes out of her way to protect her from Val's aggression.

Chiss Fan Survey 2023

Here's the results of the Chiss fan survey for this year! We had a huge turnout, with 464 responses! Here's a link to the slide deck if that's more accessible for you.

First some demographics: most people surveyed came from Twitter but we also had a pretty good turnout from Tumblr this year!

The majority of people surveyed still came from the United States, but we also had some new countries make it on the map this year.

Most people fell within the 18-34 age range.

As always, I love how Thrawn attracts the autistic audience. Interestingly, the same percentage of people said they’re neurodivergent this year as did last year, but the proportion of them that are autistic grew by about 7%.

Again just a disclaimer that these results are not necessarily representative of the overall Thrawn fan community as I reach a very specific demographic, but over half of the people surveyed are women and almost a third are non-binary. 20% identify as transgender.

About a third of people surveyed are bisexual or pansexual.

Another thing I love is how many people in the community fall under the asexual and aromantic umbrellas. Asexuality is the second most common sexuality reported on this survey.

There’s about 8% fewer single people and 4% more married people than last year so congratulations!

A new question this year is how people's partners feel about Star Wars. For most, it seems they’re the bigger Star Wars fan between them and their partner(s)

Moving on to the actual Thrawn questions, the majority of people surveyed got into Thrawn around 2020.

The spikes on the read/watch order graph show the most popular reading/watch order, so Rebels> Thrawn> Alliances> Treason> Chaos Rising> Greater Good> Lesser Evil> Ahsoka.

Most people had seen Star Wars Rebels and read at least Thrawn (2017).

Over half of people surveyed have read Heir to the Empire, and overall more people report reading Legends than in last year’s survey.

To get the book ranking, I gave each book an average rank based on people's votes and ordered them that way. Thrawn 2017 was by far the most popular of the books.

The most popular choice for a new book book was an "Eli Vanto in the Ascendancy" book.

Despite Ahsoka filling in what happened after Rebels, the percentage of people who are interested in a Thrawn and Ezra Post-Rebels story has not decreased and has in fact increased slightly.

The love for Thranto is very apparent in the ship portion of the survey.

There’s also a good percentage of people who don’t ship Thrawn with anyone, and then OC or selfships are also somewhat popular.

I included a reminder as to what the Thrawn Designs options were. Ascendancy Thrawn was far and away the most popular design for Thrawn. People also liked the 2018 comic version. Least popular was the Heir to the Empire comic design.

Despite what people may have expected, overall Chiss fans were happy with Live Action Thrawn.

In particular, they liked the casting and the dialogue. The most disliked bits were Thrawn’s storyline and inconsistencies with the books.

I also need it to be noted that more than one person wrote in that they liked “how cunty" live action Thrawn was.

Thrawn fans get involved in several different ways

Almost a third have made Thrawn art and 40% wrote something.

Several people went to the Chiss fan meetup this year.

60% of people bought something Thrawn related.

Books was the top item purchased, with over half of people who bought something buying at least one book and most buying several books.

Comics were also popular with the reprinting of the 2018 comic.

"So? What is it? What's the first thing you noticed about Vash?"

Retha finally tuned back into the current conversation to all but drop her tools into the engine compartment of the jeep. Her brain catching up with the given implications of said conversation for her to roll her eyes and huff. Making Wolfwood snort a laugh from his perch next to Retha as he smoked his cigarette. Sunglasses hiding the glint of mischief in his eyes as Retha leaned further into the engine compartment to fetch the tool she dropped. A growl coming from her as she direct her ire at the man next to her. "Since when the Hell do you bring up topics that teenage girls giggle over? Seriously, Nick. Are you that bored with us being stuck here until I fix the jeep? Or are you plotting something for me to hang you for later?"

Wolfwood chuckled that rich sound that had Retha's toes curl in her shoes. The one that had attracted her to the smartass the first time they had met. Yet Wolfwood just let the silence linger before he spoke up again to clarify. "The insurance girls were having a talk with the Needle Noggin to have Meryl ask what he sees in random women. Only for the conversation to go tits and ass up. So now I'm asking you the very pointed question. What's the first thing that caught your eye when it comes to that very sexy troublemaker?"

Retha rolled her eyes again for her blush to sting her whole frame. Yet she did decide to answer the question honestly and directly. A grunt of effort from her working on the jeep sounding out before she said point blank, "Legs. That angel has legs any horny dork would want to test in bed or a backseat." Wolfwood choked and coughed on his cigarette to hack and sputter like he inhaled the smoke entirely. Making Retha smirk in a kind of satisfied triumph. With Wolfwood gagging and coughing a few more times before he was able to say anything coherent. "Shit, Retha... You really do hate me... Trying to have me die from eating my smokes... You evil creature..."

Wolfwood then paused for Retha to hear the gears turning before Wolfwood sighed with a pointed notation to it. A wistful layer to his words as he stated in a lower tone, "Now that you mention it... Most wouldn't even notice that when the Needle Noggin wears that long red coat all the time. But he does have mighty fine legs. Great ass." Retha barked out a laugh to say with amusement, "What ass? He doesn't have one to speak of, Nick. He gets it roasted too much to have one anymore." Wolfwood burst out laughing at that comment to cackle and grin with fiendish delight. Which was what Retha was aiming for as she finished with the engine and stood back up straight. Her arms soon stretching to the sky for her to lean all the way back so her spine would stop complaining. But then Wolfwood laced his hand around to pull Retha into his front for a good hug. Letting her rest against him as his hands started massaging into her spine at her hips. Those calloused fingers sneaking under her shirt to get at all those pesky sore spots as Retha hummed a happy note.

Retha felt the moment shift into something warm and heated. The two of them shifting ever closer as Wolfwood rested his chin on Retha's head to chuckle that rich sound again. "Retha Gwendolyne Heise. You are the most wonderful pain in my ass I've ever known. I don't know if you are going to have me die from laughter or from frustration or both. But I'll have no regrets if those prove true. Also. In case you ever wondered. Your sass and ass were what caught my attention first. Both are superb." Retha huffed to give Wolfwood a smack in his side that made him chuckle. Yet she felt flattered instead of annoyed to note, "The sass was the first thing?" Wolfwood kept up that massage to Retha's spine to note with rumbled warmth, "Oh yes. Sass and sweetness and the afternotes of cynical sarcasm. All rolled into one as you finished repairs on that bar's kitchen sink. Then you bent over to grab something and the shirt rode up to reveal that prime grade tush. I wasn't the only guy in the bar that took notice. I was the one that glared at them so they didn't make any cat calls or whistles over it. Not a smart thing to do when said fine tush is holding a power drill."

Both of them laughed for Retha to melt into Wolfwood's frame. Soaking in his presence and body heat for Retha to revel in that first meeting so long ago. She'd seen Wolfwood in the bar after spending hours working to fix various things for the bar owner. A finely sculpted man in a black suit attire and sunglasses. All smirking teeth and rugged mystery as he'd walked to take a seat at the bar counter. He'd offered to hold her tools as she worked. Soon shrugging out of his coat and shirt to help with the repair work. Meaning Retha had gotten to be up close and sweaty with Wolfwood in bare chested glory and toned arms. Very distracting for a horny virgin like her. Yet they'd talked and laughed the entire time for night to fall. The bar owner giving them a key to a spare bedroom with a queen sized bed. A bottle of good whiskey shared for Retha and Wolfwood to soon drink of each other. It had been a slow and heated delight to make Wolfwood her first lover. Retha had zero regrets to having asked Wolfwood to make love with her. He'd started out smirking and teasing to soon have her melting in his arms. Only to be a true gentleman the next morning when Retha was groaning and piecing her brains back together when she woke up. They'd spent several weeks doing that making love and morning after care to settle into a grounding friendship slash first time at love dynamic. Until Wolfwood had to leave to promise Retha that he'd found a delightful and priceless bond that would always be there. Retha had said they would never be exes or on bad terms. Both Retha and Wolfwood turning to see Meryl openly glaring at them with both arms crossed. With Milly beside her to smile and give a wave of her hand to say, "It would have been rude to interrupt. So we were going to wait. But it's about to get dark and we need to get to the inn before all the rooms get booked." Wolfwood gave a sigh of resignation to nod and let Retha go. Only to then give Retha a twirl before spinning Retha into a waiting Vash the Stampede. Who looked to be a mixture of highly annoyed and extremely turned on. Which had Retha blink to then smile up at Vash with that look of understanding. Yet Vash just held Retha close to nuzzle his nose to hers. His way of stating he adored her and would work to make their upcoming conversation civil when they did have it. So Retha leaned up to give Vash a loving kiss that made him meep. Yet Wolfwood was the one to fish the keys for the Jeep out of the vehicle and get it started. Soon tossing the keys to his motorcycle to Retha for her to catch and give him a salute. Wolfwood then got into the driver's side of the Jeep as the insurance girls clambered into the now idling vehicle. So Retha led Vash to the motorcycle for them to watch as Wolfwood and the girls drove off.

Vash stayed behind Retha to hug her and give a long sigh of air. His emotions in turmoil as Retha let the silence linger. But soon, Vash spoke up to sound conflicted. "You still have feelings for him?" Retha nodded to then just speak directly and openly. "Always will. Nicholas D. Wolfwood is one of the finest men in all existence. He's highly attractive and someone I will always love in many ways. Anyone would want more romps with such a sexy man when he fits their particular kind of desires and fantasies. It's human." Okay, so I just finished reading this for the first time and I can totally understand why so many people love it. I think this might be the best bad book I've ever read, and I'm saying that because while I love the story and the characters the writing could be better. I don't want to hold against McQuiston too much, though, because this was their debut novel and I have read much, much worse.

The thing that bothered me is that there were times when Henry felt almost like a caricature of a British person. Like I am from the US, but I have watched a lot of BBC -- British Kitchen Nightmares, Broadchurch, Sherlock, etc -- and I read a lot of books by authors from the UK and no British person talks like Henry does. And the British empire is pure evil, let me preface this with that, but there were times when the dialogue was so bad I felt embarrassed for them.

That being said, I really enjoyed this book and I loved the way it dived a little bit into queer history because I am a huge history nerd and queer history is one of my favorite topics. That's why I advocate so heavily against censorship, so I really enjoyed the love letter excerpts. I am going to do more research on that and I am going to be so sad if it turns out those were fake.

I was also very happy to see positive bisexual representation because as a I bisexual person feel like that is non-existent. Like bisexuals are always typecast as cheaters or players, and there is a huge stigma against bisexual men especially. Like I have encountered so many supposedly queer women -- bisexual women even -- who have said absolutely heinous shit about bisexual men and it's like the misogyny is coming from inside the house. Holy shit.

Read up on femmephobia for more on that.

So I had a good time with this book and I do want to get my own copy of it, I think, because while it's not perfect it felt like a warm hug. It's a comfort read and it's very important that we read books about real world issues, but it's also important that we just have things that just make us happy. There is nothing wrong with that.

Martha is a serial black widower - or, well, she was. There's a long trail of dead vows hanging from her wedding band, tons of hearts of thirsty & lecherous wealthy men left 'pon on her altar to the delicious King Asmodeus ( 'the one true man who knows how to really please a woman.' ). The husband-killing stopped when Ralphie just would not fuckin' die! She tried everything; poisoning, concussions, hitting him with her car, drowning him after hitting him with a motorboat, and straight up electrocuting his ass in the bathtub.

She finally stopped trying when he caught her shotgun shells in his teeth. Man's hardy and is sickly, deeply, twistedly, and hopelessly in love with Martha, and she finally came to respect and admire that, even more so when she began introducing him to the darker aspects of her life such as cannibalism, human taxidermy, and ritualistic killings. She gained a partner-in-crime, true and honest. What she has for him isn't really true love as much as it is a very deep affection and attraction, and he doesn't mind, so long as they can keep on keeping on. They both popped out a couple of children, and the rest is history.

Excellent cook, excellent baker, excellent little house wife who serves up the image of a godly woman quite well. She saves face by going to church on Sundays just to spend her Sunday nights doing very special dark rituals. Duality of woman!

Very vivid in her sexuality. She has a taste for both men and women (bisexual).

While in Hell, she is veeeery curious who it is that got that hit put on her. There's a damn good many who would want her dead, so she doesn't right away suspect only Mayberry. She sees this as some business as deathright to wrap up. She has her ear out. That said, of course Martha is happy in Hell, this is where she wanted to be! She just wasn't ready yet. She wanted to live longer, so revenge is definitely on the mind.

Has a lovely two story cabin in Hell that she and Ralphie both slaughtered the previous owners of and claimed dominion over with their children. The owners, once resurrected, sure learned to stop coming back and left the property well alone.

She is a lovely neighbor of Cannibal Town. Enjoys the festivities a lot! Very active participant in the community even though she doesn't live within the city limits exactly, just somewhere outside of them. Seeks to make a nice relationship with Rosie. :)

The idea of becoming an Overlord is intriguing to her, and it's an idea she is definitely playing around with. For now, her soul belongs to no one.

Martha is still very much into the Kings and Queens she worshiped while she was alive and even has altars to them! Still pays tribute and still carries out rituals in their names. That part of her isn't going away.

Louhimo revealed in November that she had been diagnosed with a ruptured left carotid artery, causing the postponement the band's tour. The 35-year-old Finnish musician has since said in an interview that she has "definitely started doing more warm-up before any singing and warming down and taking care of my overall health even more than before." "Painkillers. I think I must have taken every pill short of the ones they use for birth control. I mean, like, I wouldn't know how to begin to get pregnant, but I could deal with modern technology coming up with a treatment to ease this one pain that won't let me rest in peace sometimes.

I may not be anybody's prize-winning puppy, but I'm all I've got and I like to take good care of the old girl. It took me a long time to understand the kid and get used to my evil ways, but I came around, I like being a butch. It's not like there's a neighborhood or a space that's all our own where we could have gone to, hung out at, and worked through our growing pains as baby butches. I guess a lot of us learned our ways alone and in secret and we still come out with all the different styles of butches. I really dig on how I can always tell another butch, even if she's in straight drag.

I know for me, I used to read a lot of books. They had this soft-core pornography in the sixties that I gobbled up as a young girl, with titles like Strange Friends, Forbidden Love, The Twilight World, and The Lonely People. On the covers there'd be these women looking very unhappy, like they were yearning for something they'd never be able to have. I could tell just by the titles which books were meant to be about me, and after a while, I knew that if the last page had a man and a woman talking together, it wasn't a happy ending.

It was hard buying the happy endings. I was in my early teens going to the counter with all the shame and fear that the man I'd have to pay would know what I was reading about, and by that, know what it was- something bad, a subject for pornography. I'd sneak the books into the house and wouldn't even want to share them with my brother, who'd been my first and best friend, and is one man I'd kill for still. I'd feel worse about myself, because he and I had always shared our various and assorted treasures like dirty books, but not these: I'd read them by myself under the covers with a flashlight and hide them under my mattress until Friday, when my mother would change the sheets, and on that day, I'd hide my secret life in the closet.

I used to buy the idea that I was "sick." The "sick" theory gave me some whys and wherefores about the way I had to take to bed to learn about what straight boys and girls are able to go find out with each other in alleyways, backyard, parks, and the movies. I didn't know then that what I was reading was truly the perverted version. That pornography was written for straight men- including all the psycho-socio-anthropological scientific bullshit studies on gay women were written by Ph.D.s.

I look back now and see where those books and their ideas rotted my guts and crippled my moral structure. The real crouch and limp came from the drafting of my people - women-loving women- as the whipping girls so that straight society could feel high and holy.

Folks can see the most honorable and upright butch bopping the streets, minding her own business, and they can have a righteous fit over her. We don't have to do anything except be our natural selves and some of these people will think they have a perfect right to use us as toilet paper and then go home to plot us into their fantasies. Men always do this to women any which way: wiping all their mess on some woman who is by herself and they're in a bunch in front of their corner store. After they make their little comments and noises, they're all smiling and at ease and feeling good and cooled out with each other.

If you watch the woman, she looks embarrassed and angry. She feels stupid and she's usually trying to cover that up and pretend that none of it affects her. Now if she's the type of butch who won't calmly take the shit, the men will have to work harder to take it to another level if they want the satisfaction that comes from wiping a person away. They have to go and tell each other that she wants to be a man, or they can act as if they just can't understand "freaks" and how, "If she wants to be a man so bad, why doesn't she come out and fight like one?" Then that dude's brothers can go into their man act and have the pleasure of holding him back from suppposedly going after her ass. They'll be soothing themselves while trying to pull this one and be saying, "Hey, man. You got to be cool, because that is a woman and when she meets the right fella, she'll straighten up and fly right." And he says, "Yeah, man, I just got all beside myself. Bulldaggers and faggots, jim. Hey: you know they both use toilet paper for padding," and they laugh and slap five and their eyes are shining. Their whole beings lighten up. They've jerked off and are relieved.

Okay, that's them. They got to feeling whole and healthy, but the butch-type woman who said, "Fuck y'all. You can keep your shit and kiss my ass behind it," is mad as hell and fit to be tied. She doesn't have anybody on hand that she can make sense to. There's no dog she can kick or make a nigger out of to transfer her shit to, so she's got to carry the load and steam with those juices, sweating it out alone. So you can see why I talk about a painkiller. I would like to have a pill that I could share with everybody fair and square. We'd all pop it and come the next day, the streets would be cleared of men, the straight women would loosen up, and the butches would be at least with each other. on episode 9 of the l word and i'm starting to see some of the lets say... biphobia, and just 90s/early 2000s kind of fucked up views. i grew up in 2000s and while thankfully by the time i was in college a lot of people were past some of those fucked up views, i do remember running into some shitty people in high school (and older adults) with not great opinions at times.

there's a scene where alice hooks up with lisa, and just does not want to respect lisa viewing herself as a woman. lisa leaves mad (so i guess at least the show wrote lisa as realistically upset to be misgendered during sex?) alice has no idea why, i think the writing expected the audience to relate to alice also being confused? but like idk, i'm nonbinary, if a lover kept calling me a woman during sex i'd fucking leave, so i get the reaction lisa had. but like... i do remember being a teen and people didn't even understand gender... so i'm not surprised it's handled this way in an old show.

also alice is bi, and her friends kinda just frequently invalidate that and call her a lesbian. the show's writing is a bit confusing about this? because on the one hand, alice IS being written as attracted to men, so she's being written as bisexual pretty genuinely, but then her friends just say sucky stuff. when i grew up, i was repeatedly told bisexuality didn't exist, i was fake etc tons of biphobic shit from straight and gay people, so the way her friends talk is realistic. and honestly nicer than a lot of ppl i knew around the time the l word was popular. on the other hand, there were a few shows being kinder to bisexuality around then. mostly i am guessing the show just went for... realistic at the time, and didn't care to reflect more on the matter? maybe

ah and jenny. i've never seen the show Girls, but i heard it was full of unlikable women who do realistic flawed things, and that's kind of the point - somewhat realistic. I imagine The L Word is, for the most part, attempting to do something similar: it's glamorized queer women since they're in LA, have art careers and are successfully employed mostly, so they're living the dream. But they also have realistic flaws and relationships: early as episode 1, Bette and Tina have very normal distant-emotional issues, Alice has normal issues with her mom overstepping boundaries, Shane has normal issues with jealous people and trying to keep a job, Dana has normal issues with dating and navigating work stuff. So I don't think the show is trying to portray "perfectly good" queer women, it's trying to portray realistic women. Bette is NOT a perfect sister to Kit, and vice versa. The women are flawed.

And oh jenny. jenny jenny jenny. i hate her lol. But i do realize some people are going to like flawed women, that's kind of the point of a show like this with realistic characters, and hey i liked evil queen regina in Once Upon a Time so to each their own. jenny sure is something. i've dated people like jenny and maybe that's why i'm like Big Yikes get her Off Screen lmao. ToT I've been Marina going 'i would just like my crush happy, what does she need,' I've been Tim going 'why did she lie?' and like. lol 'jenny's a writer she craves experiences' if that doesn't summarize a particular kind of girl you may date in your life. Hell, we might all have been Jennys too in the sense of dating someone like Marina who then tells us "yeah i'm in an open relationship, i'm telling you NOW (that we are already together too)." And yeah it sucks Marina didn't communicate that sooner... but also with Jenny 1. cheating on her bf, 2. not trying to communicate with Marina earlier to clarify things (because that would've required jenny to say something like admit she is AWARE she's cheating on her bf and making a concious choice instead of simply being 'tempted' uncontrollably by Marina which is what Jenny keeps insisting happened).

Well with Jenny not trying to communicate honestly with anyone she's hooking up with, I'm not surprised she didn't talk to Marina enough to FIND OUT Marina has a partner. I kinda think it's Jenny's fault. Jenny could've at any point idk Talked to Marina about their two's relationship, other possible partners, their wants out of this thing. But then Jenny would've had to admit she was purposely choosing to pursue Marina, and did all that lying to Tim on purpose. Also Jenny... oh Jenny... she cheats on Tim, they break up, he tells her to move out, so she goes to Marina expecting to move in. I imagine Jenny as the kind of person who only leaves a relationship once she has another lined up, and immediately rushes into the next one, very rarely just being single. I suppose I'll see how she acts later on. i think it'd do her a world of good to BE single... if for nothing else, so she can just be honest with herself and others for a while. I can see why some people like her, and hate her, and i just am like yikes the drama she brings ToT but hey, that's part of entertainment i guess lol. Also i suppose, being kind, a lot of young queer girls do what she does - without any malicious intent. They have a bf, for whatever reason, then they like a girl - and aren't ready to face that they like women but still WANT to pursue her. So a mess happens. I know, I dated girls like Jenny ToT

And now like, Shane. So there's a comparison there in a way: shane sleeps around, jenny does too. But I guess for me, Shane simply communicates more, and is more honest if people ask her. If a girl asks her, Shane will be honest she doesn't plan to be in a relationship, and she'll honestly say she slept with other women before. I can't relate to Shane lol, but her just being basic ass level honest makes her make more sense to me lol. Plus she is (at least so far) a good friend: she tells her friends if a partner they date is disrespecting them, backs up her friends if it's important, goes to hang out with her friends sometimes and is not only focusing on flirting. It's easy to see why she's in her friend group.

I think right now my favorite characters are Kit (I love her), Tina (I love her AND I low key think she and bette are just like Modern AU Gabrielle/Xena), Alice and Dana. Oddly, I remember hating Tim wayyyy back when I was in college and tried to watch the show once, probably because I was sick of seeing another guy/girl couple on tv especially when I'd been purposely seeking gay shit out. Now that I'm older, he annoys me less, and mostly I just notice Jenny's yikes factor to me lol. I still am awaiting Tim leaving the show mostly though, because i don't need to see any straight relationships in this ToT, but i thought he was fine ish.

I know this is bait because I can’t even name a movie with bi male rapist in a movie off the top of my head so the idea that id ever be supportive of that is like basically as likely as me flying a commercial plane. But anyway let me actually be clear what I was talking about.

The tendency for recent tv shows and movies to portray bisexual people (men and women alike) as being secure in their sexuality from the get-go is adding to the narrative that bisexual people rarely feel conflicted about their sexuality.

Because is “everyone is a little bi” than actual bi people won’t ever feel conflicted, right? Right????

The reality is that bisexual people usually both have to reconcile with the fact that they like the same sex, and are attracted to both sexes This can be really difficult as a teenager and well into adulthood. For a lot people there isn’t just a switch in your head that’s like “I’m bisexual yayyy I will never ever doubt this. Yayyy I’m 100% secure in who I am. Yippee 🥳”. For most people it’s a difficult process coming to terms with your sexuality, and it’s actually quite rare that we’ve seen a specific bisexual perspective on that.

I’m not saying there needs to be a dark, troubled coming out story for every bisexual character that seemed to be the only story written for gay characters between 2000-2015. That type of representation/storytelling was a plague (especially whenever in the hands of straight writers).

What I’m saying is that bisexual characters feels as if they’ve lost all their specific nuances in the attempt to make happy-go lucky representation. They don’t really “feel bisexual” because often times they’re not written by actual bisexual people (usually they’re straight).

Cute depictions like the main character in RWRB should exist alongside more complex and interesting ones but apparently no one on this site believes nuance exists 🙄🙄

I know that it's important to have bi recognition in media. But it's also important to respect situational gender preferences. Both of these situations exist for real people. Both can be true simultaneously. It's okay and normal for that to happen.

Maybe Kerry had a real bad time with his ex-wife and is thrown off women for a while. Obviously his prime interest in V starts because he has unresolved feelings for Johnny. Does this cheapen the relationship? Lol I dunno, if you let it I guess! I mean you could look at it from a position of relative nuance and explore a narrative where misguided feelings for Johnny can evolve into real feelings for V (or not! If you like drama!) But to flat out ignore this truth about Kerry is to miss the point of who he is and how he was written. Kerry isn't a stellar human being, y'all. He's not evil, and don't get me wrong I love him (his romance is even a part of my V's story too), but let's face it, he's a vapid man baby sometimes. Falling for V because of Johnny is absolutely in his wheelhouse.

Y'all, Cyberpunk 2077 is not an OC dating simulator. If you think the winning objective of the game is to shack V up with their love interest and give them a happy lovey ending, then I don't think you read the assignment. Think of the genre we're in. Think of the paths you take in this game. There are no happy endings, loves. The best you get is bittersweet. And romance can be an excellent motivator for V as a character but dear lordt it is not the point of the story.

We as an audience are not entitled to demand that someone's sexual orientation be represented in the only way you personally want it to play out. Bisexual doesn't mean down to clown with men and woman at any time just because YOU want fictional smooches in your cyberpunk distopia. Cyberpunk 2077 is not a romance story.

Let me say it one more time.

It's not a romance story, folks. You can be salty about the romance options all you want, and for the really stubborn there are mods so that you can install to play out your idealized fantasy in your head.

But I'm just saying that if you neeeed that fantasy, you can try different games and different genres and find more luck there. Everyone in Baldur's Gate 3 is canonically bisexual. Enjoy.
