Hehehe I'm gonna clown REAAAALLY hard here. I KNOOOOW it's nuts but listen. I'm gonna be contradicted in a week so I might as well treat myself, here.
What if............ the truth bomb was that Ted is in love with Rebecca?
HEAR ME OUT. Don't leave yet LOL
In the past two instances, the truth bombs were confessions! Spilling the beans about a secret that had been kept under wrap for a long while. @claudineint made me think... Ted leaving would not be a truth bomb so much as an announcement...
In Sleepless in Seattle, Annie fell in love with Sam long before Sam reciprocated. She even hired a private investigator to spy on him (which Ted also did for his ex, but this all comes down to his fear of Jake replacing him in Henry's life).
What if Ted had been pining for her for a while and never said anything because he didn't want to get too close for fear of rejection, of being left behind? Which is canonically HIS THING. He won't let her into his heart (Remember to let her into your heart), because he's afraid! What if he had been fighting it all this time? What if it was the reason they started drifting apart? And we just never knew? Because Rebecca never knew??
He went straight to her in the corridor in 3x04, prioritising her over his own team at half-time while they were losing as soon as he spotted her (he probably quickly regretted doing that LOL). He texted her in Amsterdam 15 times to spend time with her that night!! Looked at her when she walked on the bus with hearts in his eyes and again when she started singing. Once more when she claimed that she wanted to win for them this time. What if he fell for her a while ago but never faced the truth?
THAT WOULD EXPLAIN THIS FUCKING THING
Or the fact that when Rebecca mentioned two lovers, Ted's immediate response was to offer an outlandish, impossible theory as to who these men might be. John Stamos and Samuel L. Jackson. Better that than the alternative. In fact, the moment Rebecca started dating, her relationship with Ted shifted to something far more boss/employee.
These are some of the lyrics preceding his arrival in his office in the last episode that stood out to me:
Our hearts are breaking underneath all the applause This devastation is of our own making
And everybody falls (in love?) But some of us are born to fight, and fight, and fight some more
Same time, same place, next year And you may win this battle but you’ll never win the war
This could be interpreted as Ted trying very hard not to fall for her but failed. And it made him miserable. And when Rebecca comes to see him and very sweetly reminds him of their tradition but found nothing to say but wanted to come and visit him anyway, perhaps Ted realised he just had to say it, without any expectation. Because sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, often you just TIE (Red String of Fate anyone?) but you MUST keep playing. You must try and live. You must stop letting yesterday get in the way of today. His facial expression is very off before it cut to black. He knows very well Rebecca would be sad to see him leave. He doesn't look like he's bracing himself to deliver bad news but rather resigned to the fact that what follows might very well piss her off LOL
These are some of the lyrics of the song that follows:
If you're listening God Please don't make it hard to know If we should believe in the things that we see (Is this true? Do I truly love her?) Tell us, should we run away Should we try and stay Or would it be better just to let things be?
Living here, in this brand new world Might be a fantasy But it taught me to love So it's real, real to me
Rebecca does not see him as a potential partner. That could be what the entire psychic storyline is about. This would also explain why Dutch Guy happens to be Dutch Ted. She hasn't realised yet that what she finds sexy and endearing is RIGHT THERE. Until the reality of a potential future with a man she never considered suddenly punches her in the face, truth bomb style... a reality that is about to disappear…
What if Ted dropped that on her, we didn't see it, and next episode we cut straight to Rebecca knocking on Keeley's door, LOSING HER GODDAM MIND because Ted told her he was in love with her but also had to leave to be with Henry.... And she spends most of the episode just LOSING IT because she's not sure she loves him too but then it all clicks into place with thunder and lightning? HA.
EDIT: Let me direct you to Ted's speech in 3x05:
"Belief doesn't just happen 'cause you hang something up on a wall. All right? It comes from in here. You know? And up here. Down here. Only problem is, we all got so much junk floating through us, a lot of time we end up getting in our own way. You know, crap like envy or fear, shame. I don't wanna mess around with that shit anymore. Well, you know what I wanna mess around with? The belief that I matter, you know? Regardless of what I do or don't achieve. Or the belief that we all deserve to be loved, whether we've been hurt or maybe we've hurt somebody else. Or what about the belief of hope? Yeah? That's what I wanna mess with. Believing that things can get better. That I can get better. That we will get better."
This will keep me going until next episode. My gift to you.

Ok I think im gonna dump all my feelings in here because i just dont have anyone to talk to and as much as the finale itself made me sad and a little bit upset, ive also seen comments that added to that and i just need to let this out somehow. if you happen to read this and dont agree... ok, fair, but just let me be please.
so yeah, by now i can admit that the finale was not great but also not awful. at first i accepted it and forced myself to be ok with it but then i just got angry and that doesnt feel good either. The thing is, i thought the beginning going thru Ted just glossing over his impending leaving with flat reactions and little to no talk about it felt strange, and i truly truly believed it meant he was either doubting his decision of something was up. As the ep progressed i started believeng more and more that he really didnt want to leave, and this is where i stand now. I really think he didnt want to leave all behind, and for a moment i thought they would do somethign about it, or maybe just imply a change of heart or the possibility of a turn around, doubts back in Kansas, the oportunity to go back to take his boy, anything. But he just left and that was it.
In the end, and as we know, Henry comes first. He always did. And I knew this and I actually love this, you know that I do. Ted and Henry's relationship was a priority for me too. So I fully understood his need to go back to his boy, his need to be with him, to be more present in the way he felt they both needed. The idea of his kid feeling left behind or abandoned probably haunted him as much as the idea of his kid leaving him. And both those things probably felt exponentially more likely with him living thousands of miles away.
The thing is that it broke my heart that he thought he had to leave everything else behind to fix that, that all the alternative options aviable to him, to them, the offer Rebecca made him for fucks sake, all of that was not worth trying. That him trying to keep some of all that happiness he had found was not worth it if it meant demanding a possible sacrifice from Henry's (and/or Michelle's) part. His new home was not worth keeping in the face of threatening the stability of Henry's.
I felt, in the end, that all of his flat reactions, his disconnectedness, his detachment, his emotional absence, his disregard of other's pleadings, his un-Tedness, whatever you want to call it, it all came down to him shutting his doors down in order to get through it. He went to the opposite of his usual coping mechanism. Because he felt he had to go back to Henry, no in-betweens, and he couldn't afford to be swayed to do anything but. He dropped everything, his newfound call, his success, his potential, his place of belonging, his friends, his new family, Beard himself ffs. All of it, there was nothing he wouldn't let go of if he had to in order to go back to his kid. Maybe he thought everyone would get over him soon enough, maybe he thought his job was done and that was enough for everyone, maybe he didn't allow himself to think of it or he would realize his decision could hurt people who cared for him. Thing is his own happiness outside of Henry was not worth it enough for him to ask for a middle ground, apparently. And that sucks.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but you know me, I love my faves more than I should and I love Ted with all my heart. So what the fuck do I know really?
Outside my heartache over Ted's finale, there are other things that I did not vibe with. For instance Beard staying with Jane. I was really really hoping that wouldn't be the case. But you know what, that weird ass cgi wedding looking like a fever dream gives me hope. It never happened.
Also Dutch guy? Of all the weird sloppy endings they could have given Rebecca, this one took the cake. What the actual fuck man? And the fact that she bumps into him like a fairytale meetcute right after she's wrecked by saying good bye to Ted? Just like that? Missed me with that. She deserved better than that. Do I mean Ted? Not necessarily, no, even though of all the options we had through the show, Ted was absolutely the best for her. But it just felt so taped on, like a last minute fix.
I also really wish we could have had more of Nate and Ted talking things out. I just think both of them deserved to let things out and reach proper closure. The things that went between them were important, they were worth being properly adressed. The pain they both went through because they care a lot for each other... Man. I appreciate that Nate made Ted listen to his apology at least, even if it was just that. Because I felt he was being his checked out self then and both Ted and Nate deserved to have that said out loud, so thank you Nate for that.
The weird Roy and Jamie thing? Yeah... I guess it was supposed to be a moment of levity? I don't know. I understand that it was a moment of regression for both of them, a step back of the work they had done through the season, it just felt a bit too close to the end, you know? Like had this had happened before we could have had a sense of it being worked out again, but now? It leaves me with the feeling that we are still very much in a volatile area. Especially after last ep? Idk, weird.
And finally, why was Jake still in the picture? That guy should have been gone long ago. I mean don't even get me started on all that crap, there are so many nos in that line of story. I just want him gone. Appreciate Henry's nonexistent rapport with him, love that he was so clearly done with the dude. That's my boy.
I think that's all the bad I can think of. It sounds like a lot and not that much at the same time. Like it's what five, six things, but some feel so so off. I loved the rest, as rushed as it felt for me, it was nice. Loved the match, loved the BELIEVE sign moment, loved Ted doing his little dance, loved Trent sharing his work and being so eager for feedback, loved Roy stepping into the Diamond Dogs and trying therapy, loved Keeley growing his bussines again, loved the callbacks (us-ie guy!), Isaac's penalty goal, Colling getting to kiss his fella, Thierry being Zorro, Nate and his box omg, the newly fixed BELIEVE sign! So so many things to love, but so much unfairness and bitterness too.
Anyway, I'll stop the ranting. I'm probably forgeting to mention something or missing a point here or there. This is just feelings vomit. And just saying that the last part, where so much of the what-the-fuck-ness is condensed, felt so fucking weird and out of left field, I am waiting for them to announce it was a joke, or a s4 or spinoff or special ep or that it was all Ted's dream in the plane... I'm waiting.
Do you hear me Jason&co? I am waiting.
#ok i hope that now i can be more at peace#my lord i probably have more thoughts stored somewhere#but i guess i just had to get these ones out#i dont really remember much of the ep if i have to be honest#its kind of a mess in my head#what i do know is that my man deserved better#and i dont appreciate how they made rebecca's offer sound irrational#it was perfect she was right#ted lasso#ted lasso spoilers

*********
The next day, Ro and Verge decide to take a little walk before Ro has to go to the company “so, please explain it to me again Ro” Ro has been explaining Verge his position in the fashion company “ So, I am a world renowned fashion designer, I make sure that everything takes place, I hire women and men who sew, I hire people who do makeup and hair, I also sew some of the garments that are presented in the fashion runway, I’m not like the other designers who hire people to do their work for them and take credit for it, I have created, design and helped on my own garments” Verge finally understood, Roman is a man who helps people who are starting, people with passion and drive “And do you go to like, fancy red carpets” Both decide to sit down on a park bench “I have, for example, the next red carpet is the entrepreneurs gala, they give out awards for people who help others, people who have the drive to create their own business or in some cases, make a company rise” Verge never missed the red carpets, it was a perfect time to check how the artist have their makeup done, he has always dreamed of doing a famous persons makeup, since a child “That’s awesome, are you nominated for an award” Ro looked at him and said “Yeah, I’m nominated for fashion designer of the year, but I’m against really good designers, some of them have more years of experience in this world” Verge offers a shy smile “I’m sure you will win Ro” Roman’s phone goes off, it was a text from Willam “Verge, as much as I want to stay, I have to go, Willam just texted me, I have a meeting with the fabric company, shall I see you later” Verge felt sad that he had to leave so soon “Ok, good luck with them” They say their goodbyes and parted on their ways, Verge had this weird feeling that someone was following him, he turns around, just to see the park empty, Verge decides it’s time to head to the shop.
Two hours into service, he receives a call from Logan, that’s odd, why would he call him “Hello” Verge could hear something in the background “Hello Virgil” it was still odd he called him “How may I help you Mr. Logan” Logan stayed silent for a moment “If you have a television at your disposition, please turn it on and search for channel number 235” Verge goes back to the employee’s lounge, once he turns it on and searches the channel, he is out of words…..
“The famous young designer Roman Gonzales has been spotted with a young man who some sources claim to be an apprentice makeup artist, these images have been sent to us by one of our reporters who spotted them in a public park walking together, let’s see what our viewers at home have to say, Ronnie from Twitter says ‘Wow, I can’t believe he would fall for something that low, he deserves better’ Rebecca from Facebook also says ‘I bet he is only using him for the fame and money, men like him disgust me’ and Charlie from Instagram says ‘Why are you hating on him, I think they make a cute couple’ please tell us how you feel about this, make sure to leave a comment on our soc…” Verge had enough, he was crying, why would people say such mean things to him, he would never use Roman for his fame or money “Dear, are you ok” Logan asks him “Not really” Logan tells him to wait for him outside of the shop.
Once he removes his uniform, he decided to walk outside of the shop, where he was bombarded by a ton of paparazzi “can you tell us the nature of your relationship with roman” “Is it true that your using him for his fame” Verge started to feel lightheaded, this couldn’t be happening, he needs to escape!!!!
“PLEASE LEAVE THE KID ALONE, MOVE AWAY” Verge saw two guys surround him while pushing the paparazzi away “Verge, over here” He turned to his Right and saw Logan waving at him from a car, Verge sprinted towards him and as soon as he got in, he saw his dad there “Son” Pat hugged a shaking and crying Verge, he had never experiences something like that “What did they want” Logan cleared his throat to have both their attention “Those were paparazzi, they work for major companies who put fake news up, just like the one right now, are you ok son” Logan asks him Verge only nods, Logan grabs his phone and calls Roman.
Both of them decided to take Verge to Roman’s house, it was much secure, plus, Logan doesn’t doubt that camera men are already at their apartments, and the last thing Verge needs are more paparazzi.
“Verge” Roman walks in with his tie loosen up and exhausted, it looks like he ran “Oh Verge” Roman opens his arms to receive the man he loves, Roman picks him up and leads him to the living room “What happened dear” Verge proceeds to tell him everything the lady said and the people who commented on social media, Roman knew this would happen, why didn’t he warn him “I’m sorry dear, I’ll make sure nobody talks to you like that, Mr. Patton” Pat pokes his head from the kitchen where Logan and him were making something to eat “Yeah”
Roman made sure to warn him “It is very possible that you will be followed to, please make sure to stay safe, just in case, Nico and Ricky” Two buff guys enter the living room “I need you to take care of them please” Pat and Verge were confused “No Ro, I don’t want someone to follow me all day” Roman understood, he didn’t like it at first, but it was for their safety “Listen Verge, this may happen again, you can’t rely on my dad to save you, you and your dad are on the spotlight right now, I will feel more safe if Nico and Ricky are with you” Verge understood this was important to him “Ok Ro” Roman introduced Nico and Ricky to both of them, he designated Nico to Verge and Ricky to Pat, he will have more piece of mind knowing they had security with them at all time “You can ask them to help you if needed, be safe ok” Verge nods and receives a kiss from Roman on his forehead.

FINAL SCRIPT

2. Roll intro to our “show”
Rebeccas’s welcome
“Hi, hello and welcome back to your annual transmission of Good Morning, AMFI. My name is Rebecca and I'll get this show on the road! I am very happy to welcome all of you and very excited to announce that today‘s talk is about ... Fabulous Fashion Mags!
Aren’t you sick and tired of buying the same old glossy magazines? Of seeing the same covers, photoshoots, brands and even models all the damn time?
Well, we are! Today in the house, live, on screen and in color: representatives of this year’s issue of GARMENT! If you don't know Garment Magazine, it’s time to get an editorial update! The magazine is annually relaunched, honoring a single garment at a time. This issue treats SCARVES as royalty from the cover 'til the very end. Next to the representatives of Garment, we have a special guest over today.
“My sources tell me, that this year's issue is, next to the scarf, all about wittiness and having fun! The status quo is questioned, humor is used as coping mechanism, and the content is putting boring stereotypes into a new spotlight.. Sounds fun, right?
But before we dive into details, I’d like to welcome our panel of Garmenteers!
Please put your hands together for Xenia, the Editor in Chief, Milembe, who makes sure the magazine is printed to perfection! And Caeleigh, curator of all the knee-slapping content found on Garment’s Social Media!”
PAUZE & APPLAUSE
***Xenia, Milembe, Caeleigh enter***
So Xenia, welcome, you are joining us on screen because you are managing the entire magazine from another part of the globe! ** XENIAS SAYS HELLO** As I mentioned every generation of the magazine revolves around one garment. This year you chose the scarf, an interesting choice if you ask me...what made the scarf the perfect garment for the 2020 issue??”
Xenia: “Even though you might think the scarf is one of the simplest garments that exists, it is actually incredibly versatile. Tell me, do you know of any other garment that you can wear around your neck, on your head, around your waist… literally anywhere. Next to its versatility, the scarf is also a great carrier of meaning. It is basically a fashionable, wearable banner. A scarf communicates, whether this is cultural, religious or empowering matters. A scarf can literally say it all! Besides that, the scarf has been the hottest topic on the catwalks this season, haven”t you seen?”
Rebecca: “I see. So, the scarf can actually send out powerful messages. I understand that your message to the readers is to question the status quo, while having fun. How did you find this approach, and how did you translate the ‘having fun’ part of the brand?”
Xenia: Aren’t we all tired of the humdrum and monotony we are fed by typical glossy magazines? We wanted a fresh take and make it entertaining! By doing this we want to challenge the reader and create awareness among them so they can recognize the stereotypes themselves, and think about how we can do it differently. How are we making sure there’s fun involved? I’ve got one magic word…PARODY. We are playing with the exaggeration of stereotypes, we make them absurd and hilarious. So while having a laugh, we make you wonder: Why are all these ridiculous clichés the norm for magazines at the moment? And why don’t we play around with it more often instead of staying stuck on the same content all the time?”
Rebecca: “I like that! But why do you think we need this now? What makes it so…2020?”
Xenia: “Have you been on social media at all? Hahahaha. When COVID-19 broke out the only thing I saw on there were all these memes about our ridiculous behavior. Even though you might think it’s risky to make fun of a situation like that, I am sure we all secretly laughed. And it actually made me reconsider our behavior. I realized that I don’t actually need to stack up on toilet paper, it’s just straight up absurd! I think that especially now, in times of meme-culture, our target group needs a dose of humor in order to cope with and challenge the crazy, stereotypical ideas that are out there. So yes, I think our magazine concept is very 2020!”
Rebecca: “An interesting outlook, very in line with the Zeitgeist. You made a comment about COVID-19. You’re creating and printing a magazine in times of isolation and social distancing, while the whole team is sprinkled all over the globe! How has this affected your way of working?”
Xenia: “Obviously it was a little, WELL, no, actually very, different from what we expected, but we made the best out of it!! I see the whole team on the screen and communicate via digital platforms, although quite unfamiliar at the beginning, worked out well for us. I would like to give out a special thanks to the team for adapting that fast, since it can be hard communicating when we don’t get to see each other physically. Next to communication, of course, there were some difficulties with getting productions done, such as photoshoots and interviews. But we managed to create all content within the safety measurements made by the Dutch Government.”
Rebecca: “That is great to hear! I can imagine it was a struggle delivering a magazine with all its expected photoshoots, interviews, and content which needs field research in general.
Speaking of photoshoots: As we know, the major names in the magazine world, such as Vogue, Elle and Harper’s have their editorials filled with well-known brands, which - spoiler alert - are also their biggest sponsors. I assume that you guys did this differently and that you carefully chose which brands to include in the magazine, am I right?”
Xenia: “Yes, definitely. The fashion in the magazine obviously mostly features AMFI Designers. Besides that, we decided to support young and conscious designers, brands that are commonly seen as ‘unconventional’, vintage clothing and of course some digital fashion! “
Rebecca: “I’m excited to see all the brands and designs in the magazine! One thing makes me curious, how was the process of finding AMFI designers for collaborations?”
Xenia: “It was a struggle sometimes, as we wanted to include current designs and many of the designers weren’t in Amsterdam for us to borrow their creations. On top of that, most of them were pre-occupied with their own Corona worries. However, with helping hands from all departments we were able to reach a good number of designers and used their designs for our shoots and cover.”
Rebecca: “I think it is truly amazing what you guys have managed to create in such wild times. Now, I have been asking myself, Milembe: how on earth do you get a magazine printed during quarantine?”
Milembe: “It sure has been a lot of phone calls and discussions with different print shops. But all is looking good, and our pre-sales are rising daily!”
Rebecca: “Where can I buy mine? It truly sounds like a worthwhile investment, which is important because we are killing trees for it after all. Sustainability is an ever-present topic, and you guys have been taking this very seriously, am I right?
Milembe: “You can buy the magazine with one of our students or at Athenaeum Boekhandel. We also have a distributor who makes sure the magazine is sold in stores all over Europe.
Sustainability is very important to us indeed. That's why we chose a sustainable printer. They print with sustainable ink, we chose recycled paper and the printer is CO2 neutral. They invest in planting new forests as well. So yeah, I think it’s fair to say that we are trying to take eco-friendly to the next level!”
Rebecca: “Now I don’t know about you, but these experts got me really excited to see this magazine! I think it’s time to stop the talking and start seeing what it looks like! Xenia, I’ll pass the mic onto you, and let’s have a look into this mag!”
6. Xenia walks through the plank
PLEASE FILL IN
8. Explanation of social (ask questions to Caeleigh)
Rebecca: “Well that was very exciting, I can’t wait to get mine delivered! But before it comes to that, I can enjoy all the content you are showing on your social channels! Because yes, Garment has been very active on social media, and dear viewers if u are not following them I strongly advise you do so.
This morning before coming here, I actually did some serious stalking online. When I took a look at the Instagram account of Garment magazine I found all the wit, the fun and the parody representing your magazine. You really got me with the memes, the ironically long list of hashtags and your interactive and surprising stories. I was laughing out loud and tagged all my friends instantly!
So Caeleigh, as the mastermind behind all these productions, can you start with telling me something about all the different social platforms you’re using?
Caeleigh: “As of now we have mainly been active on Instagram. And by posting daily, uploading frequent stories, using hashtags, and creating content that that encourages interaction and reposting, we have managed to steadily grow our following. Other than that, we will soon be making use of IGTV, and posting more frequently on Facebook once we start uploading articles and content onto our website… which just went live today!
Rebecca: “I can imagine it takes a lot of creativity to make all posts for these platforms. How do you come up with the designs for social, the images, the captions, the memes, the gifs and all? In other words, how are you translating the magazine to online?”
Caeleigh: “I think the most important thing for us has been to pay very close attention to the magazine development in the workshops. And we also have people from image, design and text on the Social team that provide great insight into each department. We always use the same colours, fonts, graphic elements and tone of voice to keep it all within the brand. And the magazine has even taken on a couple of ideas of ours as well. Like a horoscopes spread, for example. And finally, every post we upload is either discussed in the workshops, or sent to Xenia and the other leads for approval before going live.”
Rebecca: “It is really great to see how everything comes together like that, giving us a holistic idea of your brand identity. Now I don’t want to spoil things, but I heard some rumors about a Garment reality show… That would definitely be something I have never seen with Garment before!”
Caeleigh: “Yes! definitely something new for us... which is really exciting. We were brainstorming ideas on how we could make our viewers more invested in the process that goes on behind the scenes of Garment Magazine. And instead of just showing snippets of content here and there, we came up with the idea to create a whole storyline for people to follow along, where we introduce them to all the jobs on an editorial team and their role within the company. We decided to embrace the idea of parodying reality television, playing into the tropes of what people consider "fashion people" to be like. Again, inviting our viewers to laugh at the exaggeration of these stereotypes and question how or why they exist.”
Rebecca: “I can’t wait for this!!! How often will it be produced and where can I check it out?”
Caeleigh: “So, we will be filming on June 8, with a crew of 6 actors, a director and a cameraman. We're also getting help from an editor in Toronto. But the bottom line is, you should all expect to see 5 episodes posted bi-weekly, with the last one airing at our launch!”
Rebecca: “A launch event? During quarantine? What can I expect this to look like?!”
Caeleigh: “It's definitely going to be unlike the launches from past years. At first, we bounced back and forth between a couple of online ideas, but since this quarantine has dragged on for so long we've noticed that people are getting really tired of just staring at their screens all day. Now that the laws regarding social distancing have become more lenient, we're planning to use this to our advantage and plan a very small pop-up event. The idea is for it is to be a maze-like event, almost like an art installation, where each section or room is a different theme, in line with the magazine. Expect to see parodies of cliches found at award shows, articles in the magazine brought to life, and an over-the-top Tell-Sell booth at the end where you can purchase your own copy of Garment. Obviously, we'll stay in contact with the RIVM to make sure the protocol is followed properly at all times and people are safe.
Rebecca: “This all sounds very promising, but quite difficult to handle all by yourself. Will you make use of any sponsors or partners?”
Caeleigh: “Yes, of course. We already have our location sponsored, as they are willing to offer a very significant discount on the space. Next to that we've been reaching out to Dutch beverage companies to see if they would be willing to sponsor our event as well. We only just changed the whole launch plan last week, but there's been an impressive amount of progress made already.”
Rebecca: “Thank you Caeleigh, looks like you’ve got it all figured out. Please keep posting and please make sure to send me an invite for the event!”
9. Go over to Milembe
Rebecca: “So, I would like to move over to this lovely lady, the queen of print, Milembe! I understand Garment is quite a big production. Can you tell me precisely how many magazines will be printed?”
Milembe: “We'll print 1250 magazines to be precise. Last year a number of 1500 were printed but quite a lot were left over. Selling this year will be a lot more difficult than last year because of these weird times. This is why we decided that it would be good to slightly reduce the copy count, also keeping sustainability and less waste in mind.”
Rebecca: “Good number! I would definitely be able to get my hands on one of these gems. Right?”
Milembe: “Pre-sales continue to rise despite the extenuating circumstances”
Rebecca: “Wow, that’s great!!! Must help in financing the print, but how else are you handling the finances for the production? Maybe you can give our special guest Dirk a closer look into this?”

The Daily Tulip – News From Around The World
Thursday 14th June 2018
Good Morning Gentle Reader…. We have arrived in our summer pattern of weather in the south of Spain, mild temperatures at night and from now, progressively getting warmer in the day time.. June, July, August and September bring the heat and sunshine that Spain is the resort of choice for many families in Europe and recently China and japan, but Bella and I don’t see many people let alone people from China and Japan at 4:00am so we wander the streets alone, just an old man and his friend…
BANGOR UNI TEAM TACKLES TOAD INVASION OF MADAGASCAR…. An invasive species of Asian toad could devastate wildlife on Madagascar, according to biologists at Bangor University. They are part of an international team which says the toad's poisonous skin will kill animals preying on them. It is thought they only arrived on the African island around 2010 as "stowaways" on ships. South-east Asian predators have evolved immunity to the toxin, which animals in the closed Madagascan ecosystem lack. Whilst the toads are yet to have a major impact, the team's study has confirmed that all but one of Madagascar's native predators lack the gene which renders the toxin harmless.
SOUTH AFRICAN COMPANY APOLOGISES FOR SEXIST BEER CAMPAIGN…. A South African company has apologised for the branding of its new range of craft beers, which sparked an outcry, especially among women. Vale Bru ran a marketing campaign for the beers with names such as Filthy Brunette‚ Easy Blonde‚ Raven Porra and Ripe Redhead. Easy Blonde came with the tagline: "All your friends have already had her". After being criticised for being sexist, the company promised to remove the labels and names. The social media campaign advertised Filthy Brunette as: "When gushing and moist are used to describe something‚ then you know." While the Raven Porra was described as, "a porter with the best head in town". According to South Africa's Times Live, Porra is a derogatory term for someone of Portuguese origin. Thandi Guilherme, author of the platform Craft Geek, wrote on Instagram that Vale Bru "should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves. Crass, sexist, misogynistic branding and labelling". The Johannesburg-based company issued its first apology, which has since been deleted, on Instagram. It said: "Our attempt at making you‚ and ourselves‚ uncomfortable‚ worked. However‚ we never meant to belittle or degrade you." "If those keyboard crusaders want to carry on‚ feel free," it added. Ms Guilherme later wrote on her blog: "#Metoo, Rape culture and Trump's 'locker room' misogyny are not funny. These are real problems that society is trying to deal with. Don't go there." "I understand that sex sells‚ but these names don't hint at respectful sex," wrote South African blogger Lucy Corne. "Maybe they should have asked themselves whether these are things that they would appreciate people saying about their little sister." In a new apology, Vale Bru said it took "full accountability for our actions and we plan on making things right." "We were insensitive and wrong, for which we apologise unreservedly," it added.
FLORIDA ALLIGATOR ATTACK: DOG-WALKER FEARED DEAD…. A dog-walker who was attacked by an alligator in the US state of Florida is believed to have been killed by the reptile, state wildlife officials say. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) says Shizuka Matsuki was bitten by a 12.5 ft (3.8m) alligator. A necropsy was performed on the reptile after it was captured. It dragged Ms Matsuki, 47, into a lake in the town of Davie, 25 miles (40km) north of Miami, a witness said. The incident occurred at about 09:45 (13:45 GMT) on Friday. "The FWC believes that the victim is deceased and we will continue recovery efforts on the lake with local authorities," the agency said in a statement. "This tragedy is heartbreaking for everyone involved," the FWC added. Local media earlier reported that officers found a dog on a leash but no signs of the woman at Silver Lakes Rotary Nature Park. "Divers are searching," Davie Police Maj Dale Engle was quoted as saying by the Sun Sentinel newspaper. "Her dogs won't leave the pond. One of her dogs got bit by the gator."
CLIMATE CHANGE: POPE URGES ACTION ON CLEAN ENERGY…. Pope Francis has said climate change is a challenge of "epochal proportions" and that the world must convert to clean fuel. "Civilisation requires energy, but energy use must not destroy civilisation," he said. He was speaking to a group of oil company executives at the end of a two-day conference in the Vatican. Firms present included ExxonMobil, BP, Royal Dutch Shell, Norway's Equinor and Pemex of Mexico. Modern society with its "massive movement of information, persons and things requires an immense supply of energy", he told the gathering. "But that energy should also be clean, by a reduction in the systematic use of fossil fuels," he said. "Our desire to ensure energy for all must not lead to the undesired effect of a spiral of extreme climate changes due to a catastrophic rise in global temperatures, harsher environments and increased levels of poverty." The world needed to come up with an energy mix that combated pollution, eliminated poverty and promoted social justice, he added. As many as one billion people still lack electricity, he said. Under Pope Francis' leadership, the church has moved to confront the business world on a range of subjects from poverty to tax havens and complex financial securities.
AIRBNB CANCELS THOUSANDS OF BOOKINGS IN JAPAN…. Travelling to Japan in June? If you've made a booking with Airbnb, you may have to find alternative accommodation. The online home-sharing giant has had to cancel thousands of reservations after Japan's government put in place a new law around home-sharing. The law regulates Airbnb's most popular destination market in the Asia Pacific region. Airbnb said changes to the guidance around its implementation meant reservations would now be affected. Under the new law, hosts are required to register their listing and display their licence number by 15 June to remain active. But the Japanese government said on 1 June that any host without a licence number had to cancel upcoming reservations that were booked before 15 June. Airbnb said it would therefore cancel any reservation made by a guest arriving between 15 June and 19 June at a listing in Japan that does not currently have a licence. "We know this stinks - and that's an understatement," Airbnb said. "Japan is an incredible country to visit and we want to help our guests deal with this extraordinary disruption." Airbnb also said it had set up a $10m fund to help those incurring any additional expenses related to having to make alternative travel plans because of cancellations.
