Last night I met a bride who was going to find a "bridal shawl" to wear on top of her dress. Don't you have a leather or denim jacket, I said. She said, oh yeah I do! That's brilliant! ... then she added, I guess I could wear my converse then too! ... Every January 31st, my grandparents celebrated their wedding anniversary with the same tradition they began on their wedding day, where after their elopement at the local courthouse they stopped for a picnic at the beach. Rotisserie chicken sold in a paper cornet, followed by a barefoot walk by the seashore. Year after year, they always repeated the same ritual. After my grandpa died, my grandma continued this tradition, but now alone, and rather than eating the chicken, she fed it to the stray dogs...
