Big Windup Coffee Shots #21-30
A collection of the Big Windup Coffee Shots I've done, compiled for the sake of ease. These are all stand-alone stories. Many are from various seasonal events.
~~~
21) Lee Mihashi, Ler Abe
“Would it be easier if I counted down?” Abe asked Mihashi with a smirk, briefly checking his watch. “I could count down by the half hour until we get home. Or I can count the mileage signs we pass.”
Mihashi fidgeted in his seat, nearly bouncing for how nervous and excited he was at the same time. He shook his head. “N-No, I don’t think that would h-help…”
“No? You want me to just surprise you when we get there, then?”
The wide eyes and not at all contained smile Mihashi gave him in response was all the answer the catcher needed. He chuckled.
“All right, then. Go ahead and pass out. I’ll make sure to wake you when we get home.”
Abe watched in his peripheral vision as Mihashi fidgeted a little more before slouching down in his seat and leaning against the window, closing his eyes in an effort to fall asleep. The poor kid had been restless due to the long string of games they’d had lately, and now that they had a three hour trip home, he’d been trying to stay awake and was failing miserably.
The catcher had initially suggested just passing out in the first place, but Mihashi seemed to want to stay up for some reason, hence their conversation. It didn’t even need to be said anymore that Abe’s method of waking him up would be a surprise tickle attack. They did it so often nowadays it couldn’t really be called a “surprise” at all.
Still, it seemed to be good motivation for the pitcher, because once he knew he had that to look forward to if he did in fact fall asleep, he was out like a light in a matter of ten minutes.
Abe couldn’t help but smile at him for it.
When they finally pulled into the parking lot of Nishiura High late that night and after everyone else had shuffled off the bus, Abe gently shook Mihashi by the shoulder. “Hey. Wake up.”
“Hnnuh?” Mihashi mumbled.
As soon as he was even slightly awake, Abe shoved his hands up under his arms and scribbled mercilessly. “Wake up, I said.”
“EEEEEE!!” Instantly the pitcher was very alert, laughing before he even realized what was happening, squirming in his seat while pressed up against the window, totally unaware of the crowd that had gathered outside to watch his awakening and laugh along with him. “AHAHAHAHAHABE!!”
Abe kept it up, enjoying the funny sounds his friend always made when tickled consistently like this. It was always difficult for him to stop once he got going. “We’re home, Mihashi.”
*
22) Lee Tajima, Ler Hanai
Hanai smacked Tajima’s hand away from the bowl. “Hey! Wait until we’re actually starting, genius.”
Tajima rubbed his hand, looking offended. “Dude, the bowl’s full of candy. It’s not like we’ll run out.”
“We have to wait for everyone to get here. At least wait for Coach.”
“You’re just saying that because she’ll get after me even worse than you do!”
“Yeah, well, sometimes you need it, Tajima.”
Hanai sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. Sometimes the overenergetic cleanup hitter was just too much. They were at their combined end-of-season/Halloween party, each in costume and waiting for the last few teammates to arrive. About half of them were already here, but it wasn’t saying much when there were ten boys on the team, plus one equipment manager and their two coaches.
Tajima tried to reach for the bowl a second time.
Hanai smacked him away from it again. “I’m serious! Not until Coach gets here at least!”
“You’re no fun,” Tajima grumbled, sticking his tongue out at him. “It’s just one candy bar. And they’re not even full sized. Jeez.”
“Are you bored? Is that the problem?”
“Well, yeah! Everyone is taking their sweet time showing up and I’m supposed to just stand in front of this candy bowl and not eat anything?”
“Yes!” The team captain was growing more irritated by the moment, but thank goodness the team had ingrained a stress-relief strategy into their daily lives, because within seconds Hanai remembered and had grabbed Tajima by the ribs. “Here, maybe this will cure your boredom!”
“Hehehehey! Wahahahahait!” Tajima squeaked, giggling as his taller friend wrapped him in a bear hug, fingers dancing along his ribcage. “Ehehehahahahaha! Nahahahahaha! No fahahahahahair!”
“I warned you, and you didn’t listen.” Hanai smirked, holding him even tighter. “You’re the one who wanted a trick or treat so bad. Well, here’s your treat!”
“Mohohohore like a trihihihihihihick!” Tajima retorted, still giggling crazily. “Fihihihihine, fine, I’ll wahahahahahait! Just stohohohohohop!”
Hanai smirked, feeling a tiny rush of superiority for enough of a second to want to keep going. It was so rare that he was able to outdo Tajima in anything; now that the season was over, he had to come out on top somehow. “Nah, I still think we should wait until Coach shows up.”
*
23) Lee Abe, Lers Tajima and Mihashi
“Why are you dressed like that?” Mihashi asked, surprising Abe with the boldness and straightforwardness of the question.
The catcher looked at him sideways. “Because it’s a costume party? And this is a costume?”
“I-I know that, but I mean…” Mihashi gestured at him nervously. “Like…that.”
Abe had decided to go simple, dressing in a toga with a gold circlet on his head that his mom had made him. He’d almost left it out, but it really did complete the look, so he decided to go with it. Mihashi was – predictably – dressed as a professional baseball player.
“It’s a toga. You know, from ancient Rome? Haven’t you paid attention in history class?” Abe asked, growing a little irritated. He glanced around the room at their other teammates, quickly taking in their outfits. Sure, he stood out a little, but only because he was the only one who didn’t go all-out.
“It’s…k-kind of…brave to wear that here, isn’t it?” Mihashi stammered.
“Why?” Abe snapped, berating himself when his friend flinched at his tone. “Sorry. I’m just confused. Why is it weird?”
“N-Not weird…” Mihashi clenched and unclenched his fists. “Brave.”
All at once, Abe understood what he meant. He looked first at his costume, at the way it left half of his chest bare. Then he looked at the pitcher, then their friends around the room. “Well, now that you mention it…but I doubt we’ll be doing much of that tonight. That was just to boost our performance during the season, and the season is over now.”
Mihashi shifted on his feet, nodding a little.
Before Abe could open his mouth to say anything more, he felt cold hands squeeze his ribs from behind, making him yell before he could stop himself.
“Abe! Why are you showing off like that? You’re just begging for someone to come tickle you!” Tajima laughed, wiggling his fingers teasingly.
Abe instinctively wrapped his arms around his chest, blushing furiously at the embarrassing noise he’d just let out. “I’m not showing off! I just didn’t want to do anything crazy for this party, that’s all.”
Tajima glanced at Mihashi and winked. “You’re thinking it too, right, Mihashi?”
Abe saw the way his pitcher’s eyes lit up and stared incredulously. “What? You traitor!”
“Get him!” the cleanup hitter yelled, and instantly both he and Mihashi were on Abe, digging into his sides and waist, drawing out surprised giggles and curses from their friend.
“Stahahahahahap! The seheheheason is over! You guhuhuhuhuys!”
“So? Doesn’t mean we have to stop having tickle fights,” Tajima laughed.
Mihashi drilled his thumb into Abe’s waistline just above his hips almost on instinct, and the usually grumpy catcher threw his head back and laughed so hard the gold circlet flew from his hair onto the floor.
“GAHAHAHAHAHA!! STAHAHAHAHAP IT!! YOU BOHOHOHOHOTH SUHUHUCK!!” Abe shrieked, flailing uselessly. “PLEHEHEHEHEASE!!”
Tajima laughed again, putting his efforts into holding Abe captive so Mihashi could keep tickling his worst spot. “Sorry, Abe, but you know, this is a Halloween party. Trick or treat, my friend!”
By the time the night was over, Mihashi felt he’d gotten enough treats to last him until next spring when baseball season would begin once again.
*
24) Lee Mihashi, Ler Abe
The off-season was…different for Mihashi and Abe’s friendship, to say the least.
Having met in April before their first season together and bonding entirely over baseball, finishing up the year and entering into the colder months brought out a side to each of them the other had never seen.
For instance, while Abe was still on to him about keeping his weight consistent and his pitching arm loose, he wasn’t nearly as militaristic about it, especially as the holidays came around. Mihashi, on the other hand, was far more quiet and tense in a different kind of way. It didn’t take much for Abe to put it together that it was because he didn’t know how to be friends with him outside of the game, so – constantly making an effort to meet his friend halfway – Abe had invited him over for a movie night just for the two of them.
Now, as the catcher stole a glance at Mihashi from the corner of his eye and saw how rigid he still was even half an hour and a bowl of popcorn later, he sighed. “Is this how it’s going to be all winter?”
“H-Huh?” Mihashi stammered, looking at him nervously.
“Are you going to be all weird and quiet around me now that we’re not playing baseball? I can’t be that scary, can I?”
“N-No! You’re not!”
It sounded more to Abe like he very much was. With another sigh, he cracked his knuckles. “Guess I gotta do it then, huh?”
“What do you m-mean…? Ah! AIEE!! A-Ahahahahahabe!” the pitcher squealed with giggles when the brunette’s fingers found his upper ribs, trying to get to his underarms that Mihashi was stubbornly protecting, shaking his head. “Nahahahahaha! I w-wohohohon’t be weheheheheird!”
“Don’t lie. That’s too tall of an order for you, Mihashi,” Abe teased, grinning despite himself. “Just promise you won’t give me the silent treatment all winter, okay? I still want to be friends with you even if we’re not playing baseball for a few months.”
“I prohohohohohomise! Plehehehehehease!”
Mihashi looked a lot happier and more relaxed now, so Abe let up as requested. There was a beat of silence between them, and then the catcher let out an even bigger sigh and flopped over, laying his head on the pitcher’s lap as he turned his attention back to the film.
“A-Abe?” The catcher murmured something, and Mihashi hesitated a moment before asking, “W-What did you say?”
“I said you’re comfy,” Abe replied a little louder, though his voice betrayed that he was clearly embarrassed by the admission. “Stay still.”
And, well…how was Mihashi supposed to not smile at that?
*
25) Lee Mihashi, Ler Abe
Mihashi fidgeted nervously, shifting from foot to foot, glancing back over his shoulder at Abe, who huffed at him.
“Well, go on,” he said, nodding toward Tajima, who looked confused but amused.
The cleanup hitter asked, “Why do I feel like you’re about to apologize for returning a library book one day late?”
Mihashi gulped. “I-I was just…just wondering if…m-maybe, if you w-wanted to, um…”
Abe tried to be patient. He really did. He gave Mihashi a few seconds, waited for him to get over whatever hurdle he’d run into.
Then he ran out of patience.
He grabbed his friend’s sides and squeezed, and Mihashi yelped and immediately burst into giggles, shooting his catcher a surprised look over his shoulder.
“Just helping you loosen up,” Abe said evenly, squeezing and digging his fingers in harder where he knew it tickled more, smirking at Tajima. “He wants to ask you something, but he’s chickening out.”
“Ahahahahabe!” Mihashi squealed, though he wasn’t really trying to get away, as per usual. He squirmed and wiggled in place, hopping from one foot to the other like he was dancing.
“Ask him, Mihashi.”
“B-Buhuhuhuhut…! But you’re tihihihihickling mehehehe!”
“And?” Abe grinned, suddenly feeling playful. He wrapped his arms around the pitcher from behind, hugging him to his chest while his fingers continued to tickle up and down his sides. “You can talk just fine while laughing. Ask him.”
Tajima had to laugh at this point as well. “Yeah, Mihashi, ask me! It can’t be that bad, coming from you. What’s up?”
Mihashi had to admit he felt a lot lighter and more confident now, so he sputtered, “C-Cahahahan you teheheheach me how to behehehehe a better hihihihihitter?”
Abe kept tickling him while Tajima pretended to contemplate his answer.
“Sure,” the cleanup hitter replied, giving him a thumbs-up. “I got your back, my dude.”
Mihashi would have smiled had he not already been giggling. “Thahahahank you! A-Ahahabe, you cahahahan stop now!”
“On the contrary, Abe,” Tajima replied, grabbing Mihashi’s wrists and holding them above his head. “I think you missed a spot.”
Abe beamed and used the opportunity to dig into the pitcher’s underarms, and he and Tajima shared knowing looks with each other as their ace shrieked with happy, ticklish laughter.
*
26) Lee Abe, Ler Tajima
When Tajima playfully wiggled a feather along the back of Abe’s neck, he expected the catcher to turn around and glare at him, perhaps bat him away or even scrunch up his shoulders defensively. What he didn’t expect was for Abe to immediately let out a squeal, slapping a hand to the back of his neck so fast it actually trapped the feather in its place.
Then he turned around, looking confused and embarrassed.
“Jeez, Tajima,” he mumbled, releasing his grip and shivering as if trying to get rid of the residual feeling of the feather along his skin.
Tajima blinked, then broke into a huge grin. “Jeez, yourself.” He dragged the tickly strands down his neck a second time, getting the same reaction. “You’re crazy ticklish here, huh?”
Abe crushed the feather in his fist and yanked it from the cleanup hitter, throwing it to the ground. “Shut up.”
There was a brief pause. Just as Abe was turning around again – perhaps to apologize or to explain himself, Tajima didn’t know – the third baseman darted forward and started raking his fingernails gently up and down the catcher’s neck.
Abe shrieked this time, going to bolt out of his seat but stopped by an arm around his chest as Tajima kept him right where he wanted him.
To Tajima’s surprise, prolonged tickling here drew out a myriad of noises he’d never heard from Abe before – a collection of squeaks, wheezes, and whines that only made the exploration of this new tickle spot more fun for him.
“Aww, you’re super ticklish here! Almost as bad as your hips, huh, Abe?” he teased.
Abe squirmed in his seat, trying to pry his captor’s arm away from his chest while also clawing at the fingers scribbling against his neck, giggling hysterically all the while. “Stohohohohohohop! Plehehehehehease! It’s so bahahahahahad!”
“I can see that,” Tajima returned easily, finding a spot just below his earlobe that really got Abe cackling. He smirked. “Does Mihashi know about this?”
In response, Abe let out a startled cry that quickly dissolved into laughter when the cleanup hitter scratched consistently at that new spot. He squirmed and pleaded, “Dohohohohohohon’t tehehehehell him! Plehehehehease, Tajima!”
At that moment Tajima glanced up and saw said pitcher jogging toward the dugout where they were playing around, and he chuckled. “I have a feeling I’m not going to have to say a word, Abe.”
*
27) Lee Mihashi, Ler Abe
“How do you feel about ghosts?”
Mihashi turned and looked back at Abe, who was holding up a box of cute string-light ghosts. “O-Oh! Those are…kind of cute,” he murmured.
Abe nodded, considered the box, and plopped it in their basket, going right back to browsing without another word.
The two of them had been sent out to get decorations for their upcoming Halloween party, so here they were, walking up and down the aisles of a party store, looking at everything from pumpkins to bats to ghosts to creepy clowns. Abe personally thought they’d have been better suited to get supplies such as plates, napkins, snacks, and the like, but Coach had been insistent.
“W-What’s your favorite Halloween thing, Abe?” Mihashi asked, amazingly stammering only once in that whole sentence. The catcher hoped it meant he was getting used to him.
“I don’t know,” he replied, glancing up and down the aisle, thinking for a moment. “Maybe vampires? Nah, that’s too cliché. Skeletons, I guess.”
Mihashi blinked at him. “Y-You can…like something that’s c-cliché…right?”
Abe rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah. Whatever. I like both.”
“So…will you dress up for Halloween?”
“Uh…I don’t know.” Abe frowned, then eyed Mihashi curiously. “Are you going to?”
The pitcher nodded, averting his eyes, letting them roam over the costumes in the aisle. “I want to.”
“What will you go as?”
“M-Maybe…a v-vampire?”
It took every ounce of self-control he had for Abe not to burst out laughing. “You? A vampire? Wait…” He blinked. “Is that why you asked what my favorite Halloween thing is?”
Mihashi looked like he wanted to die. “I-I mean…I-I just…it’s j-just…”
Abe strode toward him and put a hand on his shoulder, squeezing gently. “Chill, man. I’m not making fun of you. It’s just kind of…unexpected. But I really don’t think you could pull off the vampire look, Mihashi.”
The pitcher was nodding halfway through his sentence. “Y-You’re right, I can’t. I don’t know why I thought…”
“But I do think you could pull off being a skeleton. You’re always having trouble keeping your weight up.” Abe smirked and poked his ribs, earning a squeak from his friend. “Make sure to have a lot of Halloween candy at the party, all right? But not so much you get sick.”
“I-I will,” Mihashi stammered, fighting back a smile.
Abe glanced around. They happened to be alone in the aisle at the moment, so he set his basket down and grabbed Mihashi around the midsection, vibrating his fingers playfully into his sides and belly.
Mihashi squealed, instantly covering up his mouth to keep his voice down as he giggled and squirmed. “Ahahahahabe!”
“I can even feel your ribs! You can definitely pull off a skeleton, dude.”
“Ehehehehehehe! Okahahahahay, I’ll behehehehe a skeheheheheheleton! Ahahahahabe!”
Abe grinned despite himself. “What’s your favorite Halloween thing, Mihashi?”
The pitcher shimmied and squirmed in Abe’s grasp, halfheartedly trying to get away as he giggled out, “Blahahahahack cahahahahats!”
“Wow, no hesitation.” Abe chuckled and finally let him go, ruffling his hair before reaching for their discarded basket full of Halloween decorations. “I guess it wouldn’t be hard to dress as a black cat. Just find some cat ears somewhere and then wear all black, right?”
Mihashi glanced at him in surprise, still smiling from the surprise attack. “Y-You…want to dress up as a b-black cat?”
Abe shrugged, scanning the shelves nonchalantly. “I mean, if we’re going as each other’s favorite thing…”
Mihashi beamed. He couldn’t wait for their Halloween party.
*
28) Lee Mihashi, Ler Abe
“H-Hey, Abe?”
“Yeah?”
Mihashi fidgeted nervously as he always did, his pink cheeks nearly hidden by his scarf. Abe kept his hands in his pockets – he’d forgotten gloves, which he was now lamenting – and gave it five seconds before huffing out a sigh and saying in a firmer tone, “Use your words, Mihashi. What is it?”
The two of them were sitting outside waiting for a ride from Mihashi’s mom. School had let out for the winter holidays and they had agreed to hang out for a while before having to part ways for a couple of weeks. Now it was dark out and they were both more than ready to go home and warm up and eat, but the weather had delayed Mrs. Mihashi’s arrival somewhat.
“D-Do you want…um, I mean, we can…m-maybe…uh…”
Despite having known each other for eight months now, Mihashi still didn’t quite know how to talk to Abe, or ask him for anything directly. Abe, for his part, had gotten better about being patient with him, but when all else failed…
Bracing himself for the cold, Abe removed one of his hands from his pockets and started squeezing Mihashi’s knee on the bench next to him. “Use your words, I said. Come on, spit it out.”
Mihashi’s bright giggles always made the space between them less tense, and Abe couldn’t help but smirk after a few seconds of hearing them. He’d have gone for a worse spot like his armpits, but underneath that bulky coat, he was certain it wouldn’t have done much good. Besides, lighter tickles were just as fun and effective sometimes.
“D-Dohohohoho you wahahahahahant to build a s-s-snohohohowman whihihile we wahahahait?” Mihashi finally stammer-giggled after several long moments.
Abe kept up his light squeezing for a moment, then stopped and replied, “I mean…I guess I wouldn’t mind, but I kind of don’t have gloves. My hands will freeze before we even get started.”
“Oh! R-Right…I forgot. Sorry, Abe,” Mihashi apologized quickly, his cheeks turning even pinker, if that were possible.
Abe hesitated, then smiled. “Buuuut…I think I know something else we could do to pass the time.”
Mihashi glanced at him with a mix of trepidation and excitement in his eyes. “Y-Yeah?”
This time, Abe went for both knees at once, laughing along with Mihashi as he squealed and squirmed in place and clenched his fists in his gloves over and over again, his laughter literally visible as puffs of frozen air around them.
Abe stopped as soon as he saw the sweep of headlights – he’d be caught dead before being caught tickling Mihashi by his mom of all people – but it certainly was a fun way to pass the next few minutes of waiting. And – bonus – they were both feeling warmer by the time they got into the car.
*
29) Lee Abe, Ler Mihashi
Abe felt a light tickling on the back of his neck and he shot upright with a gasp, slapping his hand over the offending spot and whirling around to look at his friend.
Mihashi was wide-eyed and frozen to the spot, looking like he was just as startled as Abe was.
“Um…a-are you okay? Abe?” the pitcher asked him.
Blinking, Abe decided it must have been a bug, because he was fairly certain Mihashi hadn’t been messing with him. He looked too nervous for that. Plus, he was pretty sure his friend didn’t know how sensitive his neck was, anyway.
“Yeah,” he replied at last, shivering a little, inspecting his hand when he drew it away and finding nothing. “Sorry. Just thought I felt something crawling on me.”
“Oh. I…didn’t see anything,” Mihashi offered.
Abe dared to mess with him. “Were you staring at my neck to know?”
“No! I-I…I just…!”
“Relax, Mihashi, I’m kidding,” Abe chuckled, tossing him the extra pillow he’d brought out here for their mini camping excursion.
It wasn’t really a camping excursion; the two of them had borrowed a tent from Abe’s parents and set it up in his front yard. It was a good way to ease Mihashi into more than just sleeping over without the pressure of actually being away from any adults if he felt like he needed them nearby. They’d still managed to make s’mores (by heating them up in the microwave and then hurrying outside before they cooled down) and they were going to sleep in the tent tonight, but that was pretty much it.
It would do for a first time, Abe figured.
After a couple of moments of silence of the two of them getting their sleeping bags arranged for when they eventually decided to pass out, Abe felt that strange sensation on the back of his neck again, and he gritted his teeth to keep from gasping a second time, scrunching his shoulders as he reached back with more purpose to try and remove whatever was crawling on him.
To his surprise – and slight horror – what he felt instead was not a bug, but a finger.
This time when he whirled around, Mihashi looked guilty.
“You didn’t see anything, huh?” Abe muttered.
The pitcher stammered, “I-It wasn’t me…the first time. But the way you r-reacted, I wondered…I thought, maybe…I wanted to know…”
Abe sighed heavily. “Well, did you get your answer?”
Mihashi nodded, then seemed to hesitate. “Is…is your neck really that ticklish, Abe?”
The catcher blushed before he could even try to fight it off, and he rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah. Don’t make fun of me.”
“I’m not!” Mihashi replied adamantly. “I t-think it’s…um…ah…”
After a moment’s contemplation, Abe shifted so he was facing his friend, clenching his fists in his lap. “Go on. You obviously want to try it.”
A tiny spark of eagerness flickered in his friend’s eyes, and Mihashi tentatively reached forward to drag a single fingertip down Abe’s neck. The catcher sucked in a breath and willed himself to stay still, but as soon as the pitcher added the other fingers and scribbled, he lost his willpower and broke into a string of giggles, wrenching away from him.
“That’s…kind of f-fun, Abe,” Mihashi told him quietly, nervously.
Abe blushed again, but smirked. “Fun, huh? Is your neck ticklish, Mihashi?”
The two of them ended up giggling a lot together that night before sleep finally overtook them.
*
30) Lee Mihashi, Ler Abe
The way Mihashi screeched when the water balloon burst, one would have thought it had exploded open on the back of his head.
Alas, he’d had no such luck. In his efforts to actually join in and throw a balloon instead of just being pelted by them, the pitcher had used his arm a bit too well and hit Abe squarely on the back of his skull. Now the catcher stood frozen in place with his hair sopping wet, slowly turning to search for his assailant.
Mihashi was far less worried about what would happen to him in retaliation than he was about his catcher, however, and he was already waving his arms and panicking aloud, “A-Abe! I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I was aiming for your back – are you okay?! Did I hurt you?! Oh my gosh, I’m sorry, I really didn’t mean to—!”
“Mihashi,” Abe said in a very calm voice, making his friend stammer to a halt. “I’m proud of you.”
“I – you…you’re…what?” Mihashi blinked at him. Around them their teammates had all frozen in place, too, waiting to see how this would play out. Hanai hovered nearby, waiting to see if he’d need to step in and rescue their pitcher.
Abe straightened and smirked. “I’m proud of you. You actually got involved with the water balloon fight. Even if we did say headshots were off-limits.”
“I know, I’m sorry! I wasn’t trying to—”
“I’m a little surprised, actually. Your throwing control is the best I’ve ever seen. Guess the balloon was a little too slick, huh?”
Mihashi gulped and nodded, still unsure how to process that his normally grumpy catcher wasn’t yelling at him.
Abe grinned, snatched a balloon out of Tajima’s indignant hands, and bolted for the pitcher. “Come here!”
Poor Mihashi barely had a chance to register that he was being chased before Abe tossed the balloon at him and it burst open on his shoulder as he turned to run. Then he was tackled to the ground and fingers were in his sides and the pitcher squealed with giggles, catching a flash of Abe’s smiling face as he squirmed.
“Ahahahaha?! Ahahahahabe, wahahahahahait! I’m sohohohohohorry!”
“I know you are,” Abe replied, tweaking his ribs, the water from his hair dripping down onto the both of them as they wrestled each other. “But since I can’t throw a balloon at your head, this is what I’ll have to settle on for revenge.”
Around them, the rest of the team breathed a sigh of relief and got back into the fray, paying no mind to their catcher tickling their pitcher into shrieking fits of giggles.
“Ehehehehehehehehe! Ahahahahahahabe!” Mihashi cried, letting out a yelp when his friend finally managed to wiggle into an armpit. “AHAHAHAHAHAHA WAHAHAHAHAHAHAIT!!”
“Tch, wait for what?”
“I DOHOHOHOHOHON’T KNOHOHOHOHOW!! JUST – AIEEHEHEHEHEHEHE IT TIHIHIHIHICKLES!!”
Chuckling under his breath, Abe allowed himself a full, wide smile as he replied, “Then I guess I’m doing something right.”
‘Yuuichirou! Stop crying right now. Boys do not cry; you need to suck it up.’
8 year old Tajima never knew that that statement would end up being his downfall, eight more years down the road…
Every Nishiura member could attest that training was grueling, and every player was visibly frustrated.
Every player except for Tajima…
While the cleanup hitter was spacey and growing more tense by the second, he kept a smile on his face.
It was as if it was stuck there with tape.
“Oi, Tajima! What are you doing?? Get your damn head in the game!” Abe barked from behind his number 5.
Right, The scrimmage.
And Tajima’s up to bat.
Well, let’s do what he does best, bunts.
Unfortunately, when the ball came in contact with the turned bat, it became a pop-fly, and he was outed before he could even make it halfway to base.
Despite the totally embarrassing failure, the cleanup hitter joyfully trudged back to the dugout to remove his gear, passing Abe’s flaming eyes.
Good gods, that guy always made even practice games life or death.
When Tajima reached the, thankfully empty, dugout, he sunk down onto the bench and began to tug at the collar of his undershirt.
While it seemed to fit perfectly before, he can’t seem to breathe now…?
Doesn’t matter. He disappointed his catcher and his other teammates. He was useless out there.
The brunette blinked away his tears as he kept his features lifted.
‘Stop crying right now! Boys don’t show their emotions’
“You wanna tell me what the hell happened out there?” Abe’s agitated voice interrupted Tajima’s regaining of his composure.
“Mmm. I messed up!” He chirped, tugging harder at his collar, “Past is past. I tried my best, and I just screwed it up.”
“Stop playing with your shirt and take this serio-“
“Abe it’s okay. It’s been a rough practice! We’re all tired and pissed off, so I’m not taking it to heart.”
The catcher, now flabbergasted and significantly less angry, wordlessly took his gear off and left the dugout with a slam of the door.
Tajima slid down the wall with a choked exhale. Thank gods it’s all over now. He stared at the sky in a desperate attempt to keep his tears at bay.
As his collar seemed to somehow restrict his lungs even more, Hanai cleared his throat from the doorway to the restroom.
“Tajima… What’s going on man?”
So he wasn’t alone after all…
“Huh? I’m great! Nothing’s wrong!” The brunette didn’t even look down at his teammate.
“Well you can at least look at me…” Hanai mumbled, biting the inside of his cheek.
“I’m sorry….” The cleanup hitter looked down at his teammate, “I’m not trying to be distant.”
“It’s fine just-“ Hanai tried to understand, shaking his head, “What happened with Abe? He made a really insensitive comment to you.”
“Wh- insensitive? Nothing’s-“
“You tug at your collar when you panic, I know you.”
Tajima looked down to see he had been practically ripping his undershirt out from under his jersey. He sighed and hugged his knees, burying his head in between them.
“Im fine…“ Tajima whispered as his lips upturned into the smile he was trained to use. He wanted to look at Hanai, but couldn’t seem to move his head from between his knees.
Hanai sighed as he knelt down next to his exasperated teammate. “I don't think you're as okay as you insist that you are.”
The cleanup hitter finally looked up and met Hanai’s eyes.
His teammate, his best friend, his brother. The captain’s sympathetic eyes had finally gazed into Tajima’s glossy ones.
“Hey.” Hanai whispered as he smiled gently, “you don’t have to be so brave when you’re with me.”
Tajima’s eyes were suddenly flushed with tears, the first time in months he recalls. “Hanai…” he whispered
‘Don’t react until he needs you to’ the captain noted to himself, wanting nothing more than to tackle Tajima to the ground with a hug.
“I’m-” he whimpers quite softly, “I’m not okay…”
As his teammate crumbled before him, the captain was suddenly sitting on his calves and pulling the cleanup hitter into a gentle hug. He finally had the sign he needed. “It’s okay, it’s okay… shh… you’re alright, Tajima.”
Tajima let his head fall onto Hanai’s shoulder, and the latter immediately began to run his hand along the crown of it.
For a few heartbreaking minutes, Hanai gently rocked his teammate back and forth, whispered reassurances accompanying his tight embrace.
“You don’t understand how hard I try…” the brunette suddenly said with hiccups following, “I just want you guys to be proud of me, especially you and Abe.”
“Oh I’m always proud of you, Tajima. Please trust me.” Hanai noted, “I know how hard it is to be constantly seeking approval.”
“You’re-“
“I’m not just saying that. You are my role model, did you know that?”
The sides of Tajima’s lips twinged upward before they fell once more. He mumbled one small sentence that broke the captain’s heart.
“I just want to feel like… me again. Is that even possible anymore?”
"Tajima?” The captain suddenly asked with remorse lacing his voice, “How long has this been going on? I mean when was the last time you actually let yourself cry?"
“Dad always told me that boys aren’t supposed to cry…” the cleanup hitter replied, sounding a bit embarrassed.
“Well your dad is an idiot.” Hanai mumbled as he bit the inside of his cheek. “Oh. Sorry.”
The brown haired boy released a fond breath of air, a subsequent smile following.
“I heard that, you know,” the captain teased, “I’m not entirely great at the whole comforting thing, as you can clearly see… but maybe I could make you feel better in another way?”
“Y-yeah. I’d like that.”
The stuttered confirmation from his best friend was all that Hanai needed to begin his “feel better tactics”
The hand that was resting on the small of Tajima’s back began to lightly run its fingers up and down.
“I don’t wanna do too much. So, you just stop me when you need a break, okay?”
“Mhm.”
Hanai’s hands soon assumed their position at the brunette’s sides, squeezing gently and quickly.
With his head still buried in his best friend’s neck, Tajima couldn’t help the breathy giggles that escaped from him.
“Ahh there you go.” Hanai seemed pleased with himself, “Just let everything out!”
The squeezes became a little pressurized, causing involuntary jolts and little squeals to emit from Tajima’s figure.
“H-Hanai.” He mustered with an eye squeezed shut.
The squeezing ceased.
“W-wait-” oh now he was embarrassed, “I was just going to say that you could do more…”
Hanai took a turn to chuckle himself and brought his hands down to Tajima’s sides again, squeezing with much more gusto and delight.
The poor cleanup hitter dissolved into bubbly giggles once again.
“Better?”
“Behehehetter!”
“I’m glad.” The captain chirped, innocently returning to his duties.
The squeezes were rough, but still agonizingly slow.
“Hahahahahanahahai.” Tajima began to beg, falling backwards to lay flat on the floor, “plehehehease!”
“More? Again?” Hanai soon scouted a Cheshire grin, “if you insist buddy!”
With a sudden ruthlessness, Hanai moved his hands to pinch at parts of the latter’s stomach.
“How about now.”
Instead of verbal confirmation, Tajima throwing his hand over his eyes, and falling into heavier laughter, was all that Hanai needed to know he was doing okay.
“I think you’re doing great buddy.” The cleanup hitter’s ‘evil’ attacker piped up, “It’s okay to not be okay sometimes. I’m glad you let me help you.”
As if he wasn’t flushed before…! C’mon Hanai, read the room!
“Hahahanahahahai!”
“It’s alright to have an off day, we certainly aren’t blaming you for it.”
“mhmhmhm!”
“And one more thing, it’s totally okay to cry! It doesn’t make you any less ‘manly’ or whatever your dad was worried about. Okay?”
“Ohohokahahay!”
Hanai smiled and began to slowly walk his fingers up to Tajima’s ribs, sing-songing about how he was ‘coming for his worst spot’
The cleanup hitter chuckled in mad anticipation, his head turned, eyes squeezing shut, and his hands shooting up to grab his captain’s wrists.
“Oh? Now you want me to wait?”
“Wahahait! Dohohont!”
“No? Are you sure?”
“Yehehehes!”
“You super sure?”
“Gohohohods- yehehehes!”
“Hmph. Not convinced.”
Tajima swore his life flashed before his eyes as Hanai’s nimble fingers darted up to his ribs and began to tweak at each bone.
“HAHAHANAHAHAHAI! NOHOHOHO!”
“Hanai yes! You said you wanted me to make you feel better!”
“YEHEHEHES BUHUHUT-“
“No buts! Only tickles!“
“MMMMMMHH!! STAHAHAHAP THAHAHAT!”
The captain smiled widely as his best friend crumbled beneath, but also greatly embraced, the tickly touches.
“Aww are my words getting to you? Can’t handle it? Or maybe you can’t handle the word ti-“
“AHAHA FIHIHIHINE! YOHOHOHOU WIHIHIN! IHIHIHIM BEHEHEHETTER!”
Hanai slowed his fingers to help Tajima re-center himself in the world. Breathy giggles escaped as his chest heaved, and eventually Hanai’s tickles came to a halt.
“How you doing now, man?”
“M-much better.” Tajima panted, sitting up and hugging his knees again, “Thank you.”
The captain beamed and ruffled his friend’s hair, “Anytime, kiddo.”
“Oye! Don’t call me kiddo! We’re the same age!”
“Yeah.” Hanai noted, prepped and ready to run, “but you’re about as tall as a middle schooler.”
Tajima gasped and an all familiar smile overtook his features, “YOU BASTARD!”
And so the chase was on. Hanai tried to run for his life around the outfield, but as Lady Luck betrayed him, Tajima was always their fastest runner.
Double unfortunate, now it was Hanai’s turn to “feel better.”
As the rest of their teammates spectated in confusion, the two best friends couldn’t focus on anyone but themselves.
Thanks, Hanai.
Heyo! Just your everyday anon- totally not someone who you know hehehe 👀👀👀
Hehe, anyway! I saw your Peppermint Mocha event and I just had to run over with a request! Could we have some Big Windup, Lee!Mihashi, Ler!Abe (or if you’re interested, Ler!Hanai and lee!Tajima- just throwing some options out there :3)
For the prompt; maybe Mihashi is struggling to ask Abe to make a snowman with him, and Abe decides to tickle him to “encourage him to use his words” or something like that? :3 If you decide to go with Tajima and Hanai- maybe Tanjima keeps putting his cold hands on Hanai’s neck and the other has had enough of his antics?
I hope you’re having a good week friend!
-Totally not Squiggily-anon 👀
❄️ Peppermint Mocha Special Order ❄️
~~~
“H-Hey, Abe?”
“Yeah?”
Mihashi fidgeted nervously as he always did, his pink cheeks nearly hidden by his scarf. Abe kept his hands in his pockets – he’d forgotten gloves, which he was now lamenting – and gave it five seconds before huffing out a sigh and saying in a firmer tone, “Use your words, Mihashi. What is it?”
The two of them were sitting outside waiting for a ride from Mihashi’s mom. School had let out for the winter holidays and they had agreed to hang out for a while before having to part ways for a couple of weeks. Now it was dark out and they were both more than ready to go home and warm up and eat, but the weather had delayed Mrs. Mihashi’s arrival somewhat.
“D-Do you want…um, I mean, we can…m-maybe…uh…”
Despite having known each other for eight months now, Mihashi still didn’t quite know how to talk to Abe, or ask him for anything directly. Abe, for his part, had gotten better about being patient with him, but when all else failed…
Bracing himself for the cold, Abe removed one of his hands from his pockets and started squeezing Mihashi’s knee on the bench next to him. “Use your words, I said. Come on, spit it out.”
Mihashi’s bright giggles always made the space between them less tense, and Abe couldn’t help but smirk after a few seconds of hearing them. He’d have gone for a worse spot like his armpits, but underneath that bulky coat, he was certain it wouldn’t have done much good. Besides, lighter tickles were just as fun and effective sometimes.
“D-Dohohohoho you wahahahahahant to build a s-s-snohohohowman whihihile we wahahahait?” Mihashi finally stammer-giggled after several long moments.
Abe kept up his light squeezing for a moment, then stopped and replied, “I mean…I guess I wouldn’t mind, but I kind of don’t have gloves. My hands will freeze before we even get started.”
“Oh! R-Right…I forgot. Sorry, Abe,” Mihashi apologized quickly, his cheeks turning even pinker, if that were possible.
Abe hesitated, then smiled. “Buuuut…I think I know something else we could do to pass the time.”
Mihashi glanced at him with a mix of trepidation and excitement in his eyes. “Y-Yeah?”
This time, Abe went for both knees at once, laughing along with Mihashi as he squealed and squirmed in place and clenched his fists in his gloves over and over again, his laughter literally visible as puffs of frozen air around them.
Abe stopped as soon as he saw the sweep of headlights – he’d be caught dead before being caught tickling Mihashi by his mom of all people – but it certainly was a fun way to pass the next few minutes of waiting. And – bonus – they were both feeling warmer by the time they got into the car.

All Fun and Games... Ig
Tumblr media
Summary: Mizutani started laughing at Hanai when he kept getting frustrated that he keeps getting the slowest time everytime. (For more context, this is happening when everyone was trying to get the numbers in order and get the fastest time, ifykyk.) In his defense, it was really funny.
"Ahahhahahah!!" Mizutani started laughing while shaking the board because of Hanai's silly reactions.
"HOW THE HELL DO I KEEP GETTING SLOW TIMES?! It went from 18 to 20 to 24!! You should've guessed that I would be faster at this stupid game!!" Hanai scratched his head furiously, at the game, and his partner's ridiculous laugh.
"Ohohokay... ok, one... *snrk* One more time, you gohohot this!!"
"ONE-?! ONE MORE FUCKING TIME?! I'VE DONE IT LIKE 20 TIMES BRUH!!!"
"Plehehehehase!! Just one moreeee" Mizutani pleaded, but only to see this reaction more.
"Fine! Ok... start the time... and... GO!! 1,2,3,4,5,.... 25! HOW FAST WAS I, MIZUTANI?!" Hanai looked at him with rage and hope in his eyes.
He clicked the timer to stop, and read it. Then he bursted out laughing and the bald headed teen filled with more rage than ever. Mizutani snickered and covered his mouth. "You... yo- Hhahahahah!! YOU GOT 30 SECONDS!!! HAHAHHAHA!!" He wheezed out and tumbled over, holding his stomach and dropping the board.
"THAT'S IT!! YOU WANNA MOCK ME WITH YOUR DUMBASS LAUGH?! I'LL GIVE U SUM TO LAUGH AT!!" And there it was, Hanai finally had enough of it, and pounced on the wheezing teen, pinning his arms straight above his head, sitting on his waist so he can't go anywhere. "Laugh at this, dickhead!"
"No no! PLEASE DON'T- Bahahahah!! Hananananahi!!!!" He started rapidly squeezing the other boy's sides, which wasn't his death spot, but still got him going.
"What?! Don't wanna laugh now?! You were making a mockery of me just a minute ago. How about YOU do it?!"
"Nahahahha!! Stohohohop!! Please!! SOMEONE HELP!!" Mizutani laughed out, kicking his legs out behind the taller boy.
This has brought everyone's attention on them two, which was embarrassing for the ticklee, but exhilerating for the tickler. "Whomp whomp, eat cow shit moron, you beought this upon urself, aint no one gonna stop me now!" That's true. No one has yet to make a move to try to stop them, for various reasons acctually. 1. They all enjoyed Mizutani's laugh when he gets tickled, and 2. Hanai was a ruthless ler, so no one wants to get tickled by him.
Mihashi was staring at them with a redden face, part of him was embarrassed that this is happening infront of a group of people, and the other part kinda... felt a lil jealous, one can say. He kinda wanted to join in, but no one knew that due to his massive anxiety stopping it. He'd always get tickled growing up by his cousin and mom, sometimes his grandpa would join in. So he always had this growing urge to get tickled all the time, even making him all open and vulnerable in front of his family. It would happen on occassions, other times they're too busy. But Abe was the only one to notice how flustered and twitchy he was getting, but he knew abt the other's anxiety, so he didn't tickle him in front of other people. When they're alone?? That's a WHOLE other story for later, now it's about Mizutani getting the shit tickled out of him.
"Hanai... Hanai, PLEASE!!" Mizutani wheezed out when the taller one started kneading his hip dips.
"'Hanai, please, please stop Hanai!!'Is what u were gonna say right? Well no matter how much tou beg, or plead, you'll still be here, under my hands, laughing to death." He started circling and scratching inside the latter's navel. "And right here... is you second death spot, am I right?"
Mizutani kicked behind him, grabbing Hanai's wrists, trying to pull them away, but sonce he was so weak to tickles, it didn't rlly help him much. "God!! HAHAHAHANAI!!! Quit. Yohohour. SHIT!! AHAHAHHAHA!!"
"That's not very nice Mizutani, why you gotta be so mean... Just for that... maybe I should go here!!" The bald teen squeezed once, and that was enough for the red head. He screamed and started rapidly punching the air and hitting Hanai's face.
"Hehehy, quit hitting me jackass, someone come help me." He started fighting Mizutani, it was a really funny sight. He tried grabbing for the other's wrists in which he achieved. Kanao went to go help him, pulling his arms straight above his head, sitting on his elbows with his thighs squishing Mizutani's head, not hard tho, I promise. Hanai, laid sideways on one of his legs, spreading them open, so he can tickle inside his thighs. That's his most ticklish spot, if you couldn't guess that. He had his other leg open wide with Mizutani's leg between Hanai's crossed legs, making him super imoble. "Ready? 1... 2..."
"WAIT!! Waitt... please, please stop, Hanai!! Don't tickle me there, I'm serious!!!" He started crying... well not exactly, but there were tears pricking at his eyes, nonetheless.
"'Hanai, Hanai, don't tickle me there, I'm serious.'" Then he did. He digged one single finger in his inner thigh and Mizutani went beserk.
"GAHHHH!! *wheeze* STO- *wheeze*" He fell silent. He started getting weaker and weaker by the second, and until he couldn't move around anymore, Hanai finally stopped.
"Hey, Mizutani? Are you ok-?" He got off of him with Kanao doing the same, the room went silent, everyone looked at the troussled teen. "Look, I'm sorry all right? You were just too ticklish I had to-"
"Get the fuck off of me, dammnit! You always do this. You'd tickle me till I can't breath, and I'm sick of it. I hate being tickled, but you push past that and do it fucking anyways, dick head. I'm leaving, I just wanna have some time to myself, no one follow me."
He really fucked up now, he was left in shambles. "Damn." Was all he could say. Then Momoe ran into the room after she saw Mizutani looking down.
"Hey, what happened in here?!"
"Hanai tickled Mizutani to the point where he couldn't breathe." Kanao mentioned.
"Hey! Don't be a snitch." Hanai lightly pushed him.
"What?! You literally embarassed the dude, you should listen to what he's saying and don't tickle him yk?"
"Woah woah woah, don't pin the blame on me now, ypu helped me!!"
"Yh well..."
"Well well well! Shut up man!"
"Both of you guys shut up. Hanai, how would you like it if I tickled you? Let alone in front of other people. Now I gotta go make sure he's ok." Momoe started walking out of the room, till Hanai stopped her.
"I wouldn't if I was you, he seems really pissed, and he said he just wants to be alone."
"Great." Momoe sighed. "You should really think what you did, and don't even for one second tell ME I'm being dramatic now, alright? This is about Mizutani, and how he's feeling right now, so if you'd excuse me I'm gonna go make dinner, and tell Mizutani it'll be ready in a lil bit when he's feeling better." Then she walked off, leaving Hanai speechless...
Didn't know how to end this, but it'll get better, swear. If not, it's all wraps for Hanai!! Lol jkjk.

omg there are still slots left?? *cheers* could I request lee tajima and ler hanai for candy please?
TickleTober Day #24: Candy
~~~
Hanai smacked Tajima’s hand away from the bowl. “Hey! Wait until we’re actually starting, genius.”
Tajima rubbed his hand, looking offended. “Dude, the bowl’s full of candy. It’s not like we’ll run out.”
“We have to wait for everyone to get here. At least wait for Coach.”
“You’re just saying that because she’ll get after me even worse than you do!”
“Yeah, well, sometimes you need it, Tajima.”
Hanai sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. Sometimes the overenergetic cleanup hitter was just too much. They were at their combined end-of-season/Halloween party, each in costume and waiting for the last few teammates to arrive. About half of them were already here, but it wasn’t saying much when there were ten boys on the team, plus one equipment manager and their two coaches.
Tajima tried to reach for the bowl a second time.
Hanai smacked him away from it again. “I’m serious! Not until Coach gets here at least!”
“You’re no fun,” Tajima grumbled, sticking his tongue out at him. “It’s just one candy bar. And they’re not even full sized. Jeez.”
“Are you bored? Is that the problem?”
“Well, yeah! Everyone is taking their sweet time showing up and I’m supposed to just stand in front of this candy bowl and not eat anything?”
“Yes!” The team captain was growing more irritated by the moment, but thank goodness the team had ingrained a stress-relief strategy into their daily lives, because within seconds Hanai remembered and had grabbed Tajima by the ribs. “Here, maybe this will cure your boredom!”
“Hehehehey! Wahahahahait!” Tajima squeaked, giggling as his taller friend wrapped him in a bear hug, fingers dancing along his ribcage. “Ehehehahahahaha! Nahahahahaha! No fahahahahahair!”
“I warned you, and you didn’t listen.” Hanai smirked, holding him even tighter. “You’re the one who wanted a trick or treat so bad. Well, here’s your treat!”
“Mohohohore like a trihihihihihihick!” Tajima retorted, still giggling crazily. “Fihihihihine, fine, I’ll wahahahahahait! Just stohohohohohop!”
Hanai smirked, feeling a tiny rush of superiority for enough of a second to want to keep going. It was so rare that he was able to outdo Tajima in anything; now that the season was over, he had to come out on top somehow. “Nah, I still think we should wait until Coach shows up.”
Big Windup Coffee Shots #1-10
A collection of the Big Windup sentence starters/coffee shots I’ve done, compiled for the sake of ease. These are all stand-alone stories. Most are Mihashi/Abe centered.
~~~
1) Lee Abe, Ler Mihashi
“Yes,” Abe said absentmindedly, then realized who he was talking to and quickly retracted. “I mean, no!”
Tajima smirked at him. “Well, which is it? Yes or no?”
“Y-Yes, but…” Abe hesitated. He glanced around the dugout. Everyone was staring at him. “I…I’d rather you didn’t—” Suddenly he felt someone grabbing his sides and ribs from behind, startling a laugh out of him before he could whirl around. He stared incredulously at the perpetrator. “M-Mihashi?!”
Mihashi looked both like he wanted to die and like he had just become the happiest person on Earth. “Y-You’re ticklish, too, Abe?”
“Obviously!” Abe snapped. He didn’t usually try to intimidate the poor kid, but he most certainly was now. “Don’t touch me like that again!”
Then someone else hooked their arms under his, immobilizing him in an instant. Abe recognized Tajima’s voice as he told Mihashi to “get him!”
The pitcher hesitated for only a moment, then seemed to muster up his courage and go for it, reaching for his sides and ribs again.
Abe brought a knee up to try and defend himself, but standing on one leg while he was being tickled just wasn’t happening, and he quickly realized his only option was to surrender at this point. He tried to hold back his giggles as he did his best to snap, “K-Knohohohock it ohohohoff!”
“Get him, Mihashi!” Tajima countered, chuckling into the catcher’s ear. “Go for his hips – I bet he’s really ticklish there!”
“Don’t!” Abe barely had time to cry out before Mihashi was blindly following instructions, hitting – as Tajima had guessed – one of his worst spots with unpracticed but effective tickles. The catcher finally gave up the fight and laughed freely, struggling in their cleanup batter’s grip. “Stohohohohohop! Mihahahahahashi, plehehehease!”
Mihashi’s face turned bright pink and he quickly backed away, having reached his bravery limit for the day. Tajima let Abe go, ruffling his hair. “You should laugh more, dude! It’s a nice sound.”
Abe couldn’t bear to make eye contact with his pitcher. He covered up his mouth with the palm of his hand, grinning into it. Dang it, Tajima…!

2) Switches Hanai and Tajima
Tajima had started a new game during his off-time in the dugout, and he was having a blast with it. It had started as an accident; he’d meant to poke Hanai to get his attention, but Hanai turned just as his finger pressed into his spine, and the movement of his turning made Tajima’s finger slide down a little, drawing a startled yip out of the center fielder.
It was obvious it had been ticklish, and now Tajima wanted to know how many of his other teammates shared that reaction.
Mihashi was obvious. He jumped and yelped as he did all the time. It was nothing unusual for him to react so strongly. The others, though? The others didn’t seem to even notice. Five his teammates only jumped from surprise, or sometimes didn’t jump at all. They’d just turn to look at him oddly, and the conversation would flow onward like it hadn’t happened.
The only other two who seemed to react like it had tickled (besides Hanai and Mihashi) were Sakaeguchi and Oki. Having finished his rounds, Tajima decided to return to where it all began, finding excuses to swipe a finger down Hanai’s back any chance he got, making him yelp and flush and sometimes even giggle. Tajima was always keeping Hanai on his toes, but the team captain decided it was just about time for the tables to be turned.
One afternoon during a practice game against a neighboring school, Hanai snuck up behind Tajima and swiped a finger down his back in retaliation. He wasn’t disappointed when the cleanup hitter whirled around, a wobbly smile on his lips.
Hanai smirked. “So it tickles you, too, huh?”
“Y-Yeah, so?”
“It seems to me like you were asking for someone to try this on you.”
“Was not.” Tajima shrugged. “It was an accident, but then I had fun with it, so I kept messing with you guys. That’s all.”
“Uh-huh. Well, since I’ve got you all wound up now, allow me to help you relax.” Hanai grabbed Tajima’s ribs and pressed his fingers in, drawing a squealing giggle from his smaller teammate.
“Hanai! Wahahait, I’m not tehehehense!”
“Yeah, but I’m having fun with it, so I’m just going to keep messing with you.” The center fielder couldn’t help but chuckle himself at the silliness of it all. “Serves you right for being so cocky all the time.”
“Hahahahahanai!” Tajima cried, but he was beaming, and neither of them made any move to put an end to their newfound fun.

3) Lee Mihashi, Ler Abe
“Mihashi,” Abe grumbled, “you’ve got to sleep.”
“I can’t,” Mihashi whined back, rubbing his eyes with the heels of his hands. “I’m trying to. I’ve been lying awake this entire time.”
Abe frowned. He’d woken up in the middle of the night and rolled over to see Mihashi staring at the ceiling, looking exhausted but still wide awake. He propped himself up on his elbow to get a better look at the pitcher. “This isn’t like the nights before Mihoshi. Why are you so worked up?”
“It’s just…t-this team we’re playing…they’re really good.”
“And?”
“So I’m n-nervous that they’ll hit all my pitches.”
“They won’t.” Abe sighed. “Don’t you trust me by now?”
Mihashi looked at him in surprise, wide-eyed. “Of course I do! I trust you, Abe.”
“Then go to sleep.”
“It’s…it’s not that simple. Not for me.”
Abe was getting tired of this conversation. He sighed heavily and rolled over so he was sitting on Mihashi’s legs, yanking his blanket down to get at his ribs and underarms, tickling lightly. “Then let’s make it simple.”
“Eeep!” Mihashi squeaked, first trying to push Abe’s hands away, then opting to cover his mouth with them to keep his laughter quiet for the others in the room. He wiggled and giggled, begging as softly as he could. “Nohohohohoho! Abe, stohohohohop!”
“Not until I tire you out so much you can’t help but fall asleep.” Despite himself, Abe smirked at Mihashi’s smiling face, worming his fingers into his underarms and wiggling deep. Mihashi nearly launched himself off his bedroll for how hard he spasmed, laughter pouring from him in waves. Still, he kept his mouth covered up, determined not to wake anyone else.
“Plehehehehease! It tihihihihickles, Abe!”
“That’s kind of the point.”
Abe kept it up, kept tickling for several minutes until Mihashi’s giggles grew so tired he could barely get them out. When he finally let up and helped cover his pitcher in his blanket once more, it took less than a minute for his anxious friend to finally begin snoring. Abe smirked, satisfied, and Mihashi slept through the night with a smile on his face.

4) Lee Abe, Ler Mihashi
The bases were loaded, there were two outs, it was the bottom of the fifth inning, and the score was tied. But no one in the dugout was paying attention to that. Well, except for the coach, of course. All the boys who weren’t out on the field were staring at Abe, who had just let out the loudest shriek any of them had ever heard.
The poor catcher was blushing, too, which only made everyone stare harder.
Tajima wiped mirthful tears from his eyes, having been sent into hysterics laughing over the sound Abe let free. “You’re really that ticklish, huh?” he teased, patting him on the back. “I’ll be sure to remember that next time your temper flares up, buddy.”
“Shut up!” Abe snapped, shoving him away and turning his eyes back to the game. He ran a hand through his hair in embarrassed frustration but seemed determined to not be bothered by the stares around him.
Gradually the other boys turned back to the game as well, but even when Izumi hit a ground ball to advance Oki to home plate and take the lead, Mihashi’s focus never left his catcher. He hovered behind him nervously, working up the courage to take action. He’d really liked that sound; he wanted to hear it again, but he didn’t want to make Abe mad at him.
Then again, Abe was mad at him a lot.
As everyone congratulated Oki upon his reentering the dugout, Mihashi climbed up to stand beside Abe and grabbed his ribs from behind just as Tajima had done a moment ago, and just as he’d hoped, another shriek ripped from the catcher’s throat, followed by him whirling on the pitcher.
“Mihashi!”
Mihashi flinched, but surprisingly hung on to his courage long enough to tickle Abe’s ribs from the front this time, pushing him against the railing, trapping him in place.
The catcher’s eyes went wide in the split second before he burst into laughter, feeling the heat of his blush on his cheeks and ears. “Mihahahahahahashi! Stohohohohohohohop! We’re in the mihihihihiddle of a gahahahahahame!”
But no one else seemed to mind the fun scene unfolding before them. The other boys smiled and laughed along with him as Mihashi kept it up, too addicted to the sound of Abe’s helpless giggles to show mercy now.
*
5) Lee Mihashi, Ler Abe
“Did you just lie to me?”
Mihashi froze, eyes wide. Abe glared at him. “N-N-No…”
“Shino’oka told me that she gave you three rice balls instead of two, like I asked.” The catcher’s voice was even, but his eyes were hard. “And then you ‘politely declined’ the third one.”
“I…I didn’t…w-want to have…more than the rest of the team,” Mihashi managed, doing his best to get the words out despite his fear he was about to get yelled at. “I d-didn’t know you a-a-asked her to give me t-three…”
Abe leaned in close to his face. “She said she told you and you still refused to eat it.”
Mihashi gulped, averting his eyes. “I d-didn’t want to b-be unfair to the others.”
“This isn’t about fair or unfair. It’s not like we’re in a war and these rations are critical. It’s an extra rice ball to help you regain the weight you keep losing. You can’t go below 50, Mihashi. You’re small enough as it is.” Abe sighed angrily, standing up to his full height. “You know what I have to do now that you not only refused the extra food – which I know you can eat – but then lied to me about it.”
The pitcher flinched, expecting Abe to start yelling. Instead he felt fingers in his ribs and he burst into surprised laughter before he could even think about trying to reign it in. “Ahahahahahaha! A-Abe?!”
“I can feel your ribs, dude. This is ridiculous,” Abe growled, tickling him even harder, fingers pressing into the grooves between his ribs, making him cackle hysterically despite himself. “You’ve got to eat more! The next time Shino’oka gives you extra food, eat it. No one is going to beat you up for it. We all know you need to gain the weight.”
Mihashi grabbed his wrists, trying to pry him off but far too weak to do so. “Plehehehehease, Abe! S-Stohohohohop, I’m r-reheheheally t-t-tihihihihihicklish!”
Somehow, hearing those words seemed to calm the catcher just a bit. He smiled a little, his voice softening. “Are you, now? Then you should have no problem remembering this lesson the next time you feel like ‘politely declining’ an extra serving.”
*
6) Lee Tajima, Ler Abe
“Ehehehehehehahaha! Ahahahahabe, why?!” Tajima squealed, barely able to hold himself up with one arm while the other reached across his torso to try and pry the catcher’s fingers from his lower ribs. Ten seconds ago he’d been doing sit-ups, and now his normally serious teammate had his legs trapped so he couldn’t even kick him away.
Abe allowed a tiny smirk. “I’ve kind of gotten used to doing this to Mihashi when he’s out of sorts. Which is a lot, to be fair. I didn’t really think about it, but I do think you need it.” He reached his other hand over now, leaning on Tajima’s shins to grab at his hips and squeeze.
Tajima giggled hysterically, his arm shaking from the effort to keep himself up, desperately trying to grab his tickler’s arms to try and ease the sensations even a little. “Stohohohohohohop! I d-dohohohohohon’t need you to t-tihihihihickle me!”
“Aren’t you the one always pushing us to tickle each other during games when we’re too worked up to focus?” Abe mused, sliding up to his lower ribs, pressing his thumbs into the place where they met his belly. “Do you ever consider that the tables could be turned on you at any time?”
“Of cohohohohohohourse! But we’re nohohohohot plahahahahahaying a gahahame right now!” Tajima finally gave up on trying to stay upright in favor of using both hands to try and grab Abe’s wrists to stop him. “Quihihihihihit it! Ahahahahahabe!”
The catcher quirked a brow, more and more curious the longer this went on. Tajima had to have a spot…right? Everyone did. “Nah, you know what? I’m having too much fun to stop now. I want to find your spot first.”
Tajima’s eyes flew wide open and he suddenly looked both panicked and elated, his giggles bubbling out of him faster than before. Encouraged, Abe smiled at him, hands flying everywhere he could reach, searching for the place that would make their confident cleanup hitter a mess of begging laughter.
Dang it, how did I get roped into this silliness with the rest of the guys? Abe thought, but he didn’t let it stop him. To Tajima he smirked and said, “All right, then. Where’s your tickle spot…?”
*
7) Lee Abe, Ler Tajima
“I think I’m stuck…” Abe muttered, his head and arms still trapped in his too-small undershirt.
Tajima rolled his eyes. “Dude, you knew it was too small when you put it on, and you’ve been suffocating in it all day. Why not just cut it off?”
“Because it’s still a perfectly good shirt. It just doesn’t fit.” Abe sighed. “Someone else can wear it. Can you just get me out?”
The cleanup hitter smirked. He knew he’d never have a more perfect opportunity than this, and he was definitely going to pounce on it while he could. His only regret was that Mihashi wasn’t around to see what was about to happen. Maybe it would help his nerves to see his catcher in stitches.
“Hold still,” Tajima instructed seconds before plunging his fingers into Abe’s sides.
“AIEEE!!” Abe squealed, jerking so hard he lost his footing. Tajima caught him before he fell completely, resuming tickling once he was safe from tumbling to the ground. Abe squirmed, his arms flailing within the small shirt but unable to come down to protect himself. “Stahahahahahahahap! Tajima – gehehehet me out!”
“Let’s count your ribs first,” his mischievous teammate suggested. “That shirt was so tight on you I think one of them might have broken. We can’t have that!”
“My rihihihihihibs are FIHIHIHIHIHINE!!” Abe lost his footing again, this time falling backwards in to Tajima’s waiting arms, and the cleanup hitter wrapped his arms around him in a hug, pressing his fingers deliberately into the grooves of his ribcage. “TAHAHAHAHAJIMA!!”
Tajima ignored his hysterical pleas, counting each set of ribs as he worked his way up to the catcher’s underarms, grinning like the Cheshire cat all the while. Unfortunately for him, once he reached the top of his ribcage and scribbled into Abe’s armpits, his laughter died down, replaced with gasps for air. “Aww, you’re not ticklish here?”
“N-No,” Abe replied breathlessly, trying to twist away. “Quit messing around and get me out of heeeeEEEERE!! NAHAHAHAHAHA TAJIMA!!” The catcher cackled so hard his laughter went silent, his knees wobbling in an effort to stay upright.
“Ooh, good spot, huh?” Tajima teased, wiggling his fingers into Abe’s lower belly, right above his waistline. “If only Mihashi could be here to see this. Tickle, tickle, tickle!”
Abe shrieked with renewed hysterics, struggling against his teammate. “PLEHEHEHEASE!! NO MOHOHOHORE TIHIHICKLING!! JUST GEHEHEHET ME OUT OF HEHEHEHERE!!”
Eventually Tajima let him go, but only after another few minutes of making Abe laugh himself silly.

8) Lee Abe, Ler Mihashi
“Hey, Mihashi,” Abe said, coming up behind the pitcher. He’d tried to keep his voice gentle so as not to startle him, but it didn’t seem to do any good, because Mihashi jumped anyway.
“Y-Yeah, Abe?”
The catcher held up a bottle of sunscreen. “This might be a little weird but…everyone else is already in the water and I…kind of need help.”
Mihashi glanced at the bottle, then at Abe, then at the ocean where the rest of the team had already begun swimming. Suddenly it clicked. “Oh! Y-You’re not…going in the water, too?”
“Nah, not for a while. I’d like to just chill for a little while on the beach.” Abe jabbed a thumb over his shoulder. “But we didn’t bring umbrellas, so I need to have sunscreen on. I’ve taken care of everything else, but I can’t protect my back on my own.”
“I can do it for you,” Mihashi said, picking up on what his catcher was subtly asking. He reached for the bottle, and Abe handed it to him, turning around.
“Thanks. I owe you one.”
Mihashi remained quiet as he uncapped the bottle, squirted some lotion into his hand, and reached for Abe’s back. He hesitated for only a second before pushing through his nerves and beginning to apply the sunscreen, starting from his shoulders and working his way down.
Once he reached the space between Abe’s shoulder blades, however, Abe jerked and let out a noise that made Mihashi freeze in his tracks. “I’m s-sorry, did I – did I hurt you? I didn’t mean to, I—”
“Relax, man.” Abe gave him a look that almost seemed…embarrassed? “I’m just ticklish there. I’ll hold still this time, I promise. Just don’t linger, okay?”
“O-Okay.” Mihashi blinked at him. Ticklish? He squirted out more sunscreen and started over, doing his best to be quick about covering his friend’s back with the protective lotion. Abe did stay still as he promised, but he continued to let out little noises and giggles here and there, even squealing once. By the time it was over, the pitcher wasn’t even thinking about it anymore, and he reached his hands around to grab onto Abe’s bare sides, squeezing hard.
“He-eeey!” Abe cried, giggling harder, wrenching himself away and whirling back around to shoot him a half-managed glare. He snatched the bottle back. “You done?”
“Y-Yeah…s-sorry, Abe, I just couldn’t—”
“Couldn’t help yourself. I know, I know.” The catcher ran a hand through his hair, though from frustration or lingering embarrassment Mihashi couldn’t tell. “I’m going to go lie down, unless you need sunscreen, too?”
Mihashi shook his head. “I’m…I’m going in the ocean now.”
“Okay. Have fun.”
Abe took off at a brisk pace to where he’d laid his towel on the sand, and Mihashi didn’t even realize at first that he was smiling after him.
I’m already having fun, he thought, then hurried to the water to where Tajima and the others were waving at him.
*
9) Lee Hanai, Ler Tajima
“If I catch you, I’m going to tickle you,” Tajima said seriously, staring Hanai down with a determined glare.
Hanai jumped, eyes widening. “You…you what?”
“You heard me.” Tajima smirked, putting his hands on his hips. “You challenged me to a race, but we both know I’m faster than you. I’ll let you get a head start, but if I catch you, I’ll tickle you. That should be good motivation for you to own up to your smart mouth, right?”
Hanai just stared at him. He hadn’t considered it a ‘smart mouth’ when he declared he could finally beat Tajima at something, but seeing him like this now made him hesitate a little. “Look, we don’t have to race…”
“Nope! Too late for that!” Tajima made a shooing motion. “Go on. I’ll give you a five second head start. Then I’m coming after you. And if I catch you…”
Hanai turned on his heel and sprinted for the opposite end of the field, heart already racing. What had he done? What had he gotten himself into? What was he thinking, challenging Tajima to anything?
Despite his five second head start, when Hanai dared to glance back Tajima was very nearly barreling for him, and one terrified shriek later the center fielder suddenly found himself face-first in the grass in his own territory, a weight settling on his back.
“Wait! Wahahahahahahait!” Hanai pleaded, bursting into giggles the instant he felt fingers in his sides. He spasmed, trying to roll over or kick his legs or something to get Tajima off of him, but nothing could move the immovable cleanup hitter, and soon the taller boy was shrieking with helpless giggles and pleading for mercy. “Tahahahahajima! Stohohohohohop! Plehehehehehease, you wihihihin!”
Tajima just giggled along with him. “I know. I just really wanted to tickle you, and this was a good excuse. Thanks for helping me out, Hanai!”
Hanai groaned through his laughter. Seriously, what had he been thinking, challenging Tajima to anything?!
*
10) Lee Abe, Ler Mihashi
“Pfffthahahaha – M-Mihahahashi, I – I – ehehehehehehehe!” Abe giggled, sputtering and tripping over his words with embarrassing squeals that made him blush even harder. He fisted his hands into his hair, kicking his legs, using every ounce of strength he had to not stop his pitcher.
Mihashi, for his part, didn’t even realize he was smiling at Abe as he tickled gently, squeezing his sides and skittering over his ribs. He’d never once gotten to be the one to make the catcher smile and laugh like this, and he was enjoying every second of it while he could.
“Mihahahahahashi!” Abe squealed, bringing his arms down instinctively as he trailed downward to his belly. He clutched his fists by his head, trying to hold firm. It had taken everything in him to admit to Mihashi that he wanted to be on the receiving end this time, and he knew it was taking everything in his friend to reverse his role, as well. The last thing he wanted to do was ruin it by protesting or actively stopping him. Not when they were less than a minute in.
“Are you o-okay?” Mihashi asked, slowing a little.
Abe was instantly desperate for more. He nodded emphatically. “Yes, I’m fine! Keep g-gohohohohoing – AGH, NO!!” The catcher spasmed, hands flying down to grab Mihashi’s arms, stilling the both of them.
“I’m sorry! I can stop—”
“No!” Abe cried, clutching him harder, making sure he didn’t move. “It’s okay, it’s just…just a reflex, I swear. I’m really…really ticklish there.” The catcher’s face was red as a cherry at this point. “Please. I want to try.”
Mihashi gulped nervously, then pressed his thumbs back into his friend’s lower belly, kneading gently, lighting up when Abe tossed his head back with laughter, kicking even harder than before. After a moment, the pitcher decided for both of their safety he’d better straddle him, so that’s what he did.
Abe’s laughter grew even louder and his eyes widened in surprise. “MIHAHAHAHASHI?!”
“Y-You said you wanted to try,” Mihashi said, switching from using only his thumbs to using all ten of his fingers to tickle Abe’s weak spot, and the catcher gripped his arms even harder as his laughter turned boisterous. “And…well…I do too, Abe.”

TickleTober 2022
Tumblr media
List credit to @lizzienaut
I think I'm among the last to hop on this bandwagon, but OF COURSE I'm doing TickleTober this year! I'm so excited! Choosing a list was difficult, but I settled on this one because I haven't seen many writers doing it this year; I think this list was meant more for artists, but I'm going to give it a go anyway!
How it works:
Choose a prompt and a couple of characters and I'll write a Halloween-themed coffee shot for you! Please remember that I prefer to write for platonic pairings with only a couple of exceptions (which are listed in my pinned post), so I may make any shippings I receive platonic instead! ^^
Limit ONE prompt per person, please! I want to give as many people a chance as possible!
First come first served! If your request doesn't line up with the handful of restrictions I have in place, I'll let you know and your number will move to the next person in line.
Numbers that are crossed out with a red line are ones I'm not interested in/comfortable with for this year and will not write. Only a few this time around!
Fandoms available:
Big Windup
Demon Slayer (NEW!)
Dr. Stone
Free
Haikyuu
My Hero Academia
Obey Me
Sk8 the Infinity
The Promised Neverland
Character restrictions:
Most of these can be found on my pinned post, but for the couple of fandoms that aren't:
Demon Slayer: As I'm still getting used to this series as a whole, for now I'll only write for the main four: Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, and Zenitsu. I've only read the manga up through where the anime leaves off, so no spoilers, please! ^^
Free: Asahi, Kisumi, Hiyori, Seijuro; basically a majority of the background characters
Sk8: Joe, Cherry, 50/50 on Adam
Go ahead and start sending them in! I can't wait to get started on these and begin posting on October 1! ^^
