There's a sinking feeling in the pit of Leo's stomach as he knocks on the door. 

He doesn't want to be here right now. He rather be at home, unwinding after his date with Rinne. Instead here he was, being threatened with his own secret. He told this to Nishiki in the belief it would be safe, and now here it was, actively being used against him. He wished Nishiki wouldn't even open the door. 

Except that wish would never come true. Within a few seconds, the door opened, revealing Nishiki. Nishiki stared at him for a moment before a smile graced his face. His arms relaxed as he spoke, "You're here."

"You didn't give me a choice," Leo responded as his eyebrows furrowed.

Nishiki's smile didn't drop. He only moved out of the door frame to allow Leo in. Leo crossed his arms as he followed in, not looking Nishiki in the eye. Once he was inside, Nishiki wrapped his arms around him from behind. Leo could feel his chest tighten. He didn’t want to be in this situation again.

"I'm so glad you're safe."

Leo went still. "You're the reason I'm in danger."

"Don't be like that," Nishiki's arms wrapped tighter around him. "I already said I didn't want to do this."

Leo pried himself free from Nishiki's grip, turning to finally face him. "Then why are you doing this!? All I wanted was space from you after I saw what you were saying about me, and now here you are, threatening me to get me back into your haven!"

Nishiki took Leo's hand in his, his thumb rubbing circles against his hand. "I had to get you to talk to me again. Leo… how am I supposed to protect you if you won't let me?"

"How are you even protecting me…?"

"How am I not?" Nishiki pulled Leo in closer by the hand. "This secret of yours combined with the fact that your sire is still out there… this is why I pushed so hard for you to leave that haven and come here. For you to join the Camarilla. That way, I can keep a better eye on you and protect you from these things."

Leo felt uneasy. Nishiki was inching closer and closer to him, a smile gracing his face all the while. It's like he saw no wrong in his actions. Nishiki slowly pulled Leo back into another embrace, his fingers threading through Leo's hair.

"How else am I going to keep you safe if you don't let me? Don't you know there is so much against you?"

"Nishiki…"

"And then that damn Malkavian was determined to turn you against me, twisting my words… that newly crowned Prince sticking her nose in… I can't afford that."

Leo tried to pull away, but Nishiki's hold on him was tight. "Those are my friends, Nishiki."

"And am I also not your friend? Your best friend? I'm trying to keep your best interests at heart."

Nishiki relaxed his grip to look Leo in the eye. Leo looked pensive. He quickly turned his head to the side, but Nishiki grabbed him by the chin to turn him back to face him. Leo's eyes darted around the room as he tried to respond, "Nishiki, I… I don't want to believe you're a monster–"

"Then don't. You know I do everything for your sake, right?"

Leo's eyes turned to the floor beneath them, but Nishiki nudged his chin up towards him. There was that smile. He looked so calm, so relaxed, like he hadn't done a thing wrong.

"Nishiki…"

"Trust me. I'm going to keep you safe."

Nishiki leaned in. Leo knew he was going to kiss him. He instinctively pushed back, trying to stop him, but Nishiki kept a tight grip on him. It was only a few seconds until the distance was closed and Nishiki's lips was on his. Leo tensed up. His fingers dug into Nishiki's shoulders. The kiss didn't last but a few seconds until Nishiki pulled away, causing Leo to look at him nervously. Nishiki pressed a kiss to Leo's forehead before turning to admire him.

"Come on. Why don't you stay the night? We can talk all about it."
