Friday: I can pack like a minimalist queen, I only need a couple of items. It’s only a weekend getaway. You can always burrow your sisters clothes. You can do this! . . Sunday: Hey Rog, can you carry the dirty clothes back with you? IE I have more than what I came with so can you carry some of my things backs to make room for my incredible vintage finds?! It’s a cute trick that I learned a long time ago and works every time but I can explain... . . You see my amazing sister introduced me to possibly the best vintage shop the FNQ has to offer. @dearpearlvintage is located in one of the city arcades and has a magic range of vintage clothes and accessories. Best of all, last week had a 50% off the already well priced frocks, but don’t worry I didn’t go all crazy and bought things I didn’t need... . . I mean, who doesn’t need a gold and silver stripes 1980’s sportscraft frock? Or a proper vintage pussy bow red dress with a full circle pleated skirt? Or a tailored animal print jacket? Or an incredible handmade frock for your friend Nat! (Yes, I love shopping for my friends too) . . Anyway, safe to say I failed again at lent and not buying anything in April but don’t worry, did not buy anything new and I will donate or give the same amount of clothes to balance the scales. Look at me all happy and bright before my day took an unexpected turn, talk about real life getting in the way of all the fun 🙄 . . Thank you to all the lovely people that messaged me with their suggestions. I ended up having a weird and emotionally draining day, but did squish in some cool things to celebrate my 100th day of the challenge and my wonderful friend Shez organized a cake! . . Hey Kati, what do you really wear around the house? Thanks for asking Shez... . . Honestly, I am not one to save frocks for special occasions, but I do have a lot of dresses that are my house dresses. If I get my much needed yoga classes I wear my yoga gear for a lot longer than I should 🧘🏻‍♀️ . . I mean, why not? It’s stretchy and comfortable and old Kati was a Shopaholic, so I have shitloads of it. From my cute little hot yoga cropped pants to the brightly colored crazy yoga leggings to comfy tank tops. Sparkling my way into the week with a sprinkle of metal because metallics are neutrals this week with real street style by @steelemystyle 👏 . . What a weekend. So many wonderful events, but also exhausting, so went to Manly to recharge our batteries ☀️ . . They have really cute markets, with plants and candles, jewelry and all sorts of cute knick-knack and some pretty cool pubs 🍻 . . On her way back we stopped by Camp Hill Antiques and almost bought two things, but then remembered I said I wouldn’t buy anything this month so I didn’t🥰 . . Have you ever walked into a room and felt like you found your people? . . That’s exactly what happened to me at my first @theleaguewomen event about six months ago and yesterday I was lucky to attend their annual “run the world” conference and it was everything I expected and so much more! . . The day was filled with inspiring speakers, entertaining panelists, flash mob yoga, delicious food in a beautiful space. Who made my clothes? What is this all about? I am glad you asked... . . Fashion Revolution Week is a week of campaigns and action to demand greater transparency in the fashion supply chain. There’s people all over the world taking part in over 100 cities including us, right here in Brisbane! . . My 95th day buying nothing new got me thinking about the small business I love and miss buying from 💓 . . I think there’s a fine line between encouraging people to reset the consumerism button and making responsible purchases and continue to support our small business community on Instagram and in real life . . Authentic: Of undisputed origin and not a copy; genuine (Bag lady rant coming up!) . . Two things have happened this week. Primac (never heard of them) copied @veja sneakers. When I say copied I mean not in the way they make them ie sustainable practice to the extreme. I mean their design. What the actual? I know, shame on you Primac. Whoever you are! . . The same night, a “sponsored” post came up in my feed (whatever happened to growing your network organically?!) with a very @imakestagram item - further peeking revealed yet another copycat. This one, based right here in Brisbane! . . The point is that it’s hard to come up with content, products, and designs, but is not okay to copy other people’s work at any level. There’s a little arrow on the top of everyone’s post so content can be re posted the right way by acknowledging the author or are inspired by and there’s no shame in doing that! . . This is exactly what I am doing with the article the wonderful @mrspress she wrote for @ecoage on this very subject on the back of the VEJA issue. Day 90 of #buynothingnew2019 and I was sick as a dog with suspected self induced food poisoning or a virus so no outfit post today😐 . . Squinty McSquinty here reporting (a day late) from the @suited_to_success sale at @newsteadstudios and done worry it is still open today! . . I didn’t know anything about the event so I was super surprised to see SO MUCH high end designer labels and some lovely vintage 👏 . . Needles to say I expected to fall off the lent wagon but not to such a level and all in one day BUT hey all for a very good cause right? So no guilt feelings there and still no new ✊🏻 . . I was out and about with my friend Natalia or as I like to call her “top knot Nat” whom I met at the @theleaguewomen so I naturally wanted to show her my hood . . So we continued to breakfast at @sourcedgrocer followed by a visit to Michael at @studio_thrifty_4 thrifty to hear all about their excellent news. Then to @vinniesshops in Newstead followed by @salvosstores where we picked up some more bargains! . .
