This week, Lena Dunham continued to further put her foot in her mouth by not only defending a beloved writer (accused of sexual assault) who worked on GIRLS but managed to say/assume/accuse Aurora Perrineau of lying. So not only is the patron saint of White Feminism™️ normally full of shit but her “believe women” rhetoric doesn’t hold up unless she’s friends with the accused. Lena issued an apology but the point still stands: her opinion is not necessary and she’s still cancelled AF. Honestly, this piece is beyond overdue. You can’t be a staunch supporter of women and feminism if all of that ends at white women. Believe women of color. Believe women of color. Include women of color when you’re trying to protect women. You can not be a fan of Dunham/Lenny Letter/Girls and still call yourself an intersectional feminist. It’s like separating Woody Allen from his “art”.
