Hi Lena!!! I just wanted to say how much I love SHOH! It’s the first IF I ever played, and my friend introduced it to me when I was bored post college finals. I was completely captivated by your world building (super detailed and alive! I’m in awe as world building is my own weak point), your writing style (it’s lush and gorgeous and vivid) and the characters (I have a soft spot for everyone!! It feels like they’re actually my friends and they’re so real). You’re even the first paetron I ever subscribed to, and I had a blast looking at how SHOH developed and reading all of the short stories!! "An interesting simile you're using there, Mx. Baek." It's an observation, murmured from across the table, and yet it's also said warmly, as warm as the cup of tea he's currently drinking. Perhaps this is fraternizing, chatting over a cup of coffee ( tea for Patrick ), considering that Mx. Baek is also Elise's social worker. Patrick knows very the consequences, professional or not, that come with blurring the lines of friendship with the job.

But then again, it's not like he can't be FRIENDS with them, especially considering that they'll be dropping by at least once every three months up until Elise turns eighteen. And Elise is only four, now.

In that case, one might as well make the best of the situation. It's not like Mx. Baek plans on whisking Elise away every time they drop by. That's only supposed to be a last resort. The final, backed-into-a-corner kind of step to take, the same one Patrick had done with Dr. Andrew Jung, his former colleague who also happens to be Elise's biological father. Of course, he wouldn't want Elise to be separated from her birth family. Patrick knows that feeling well enough.

But even upon consistent prodding on Patrick's part for Dr. Jung to pay better attention to his daughter, Dr. Jung remained UNCHANGED, who continued to throw faculty parties at his own house. Where his daughter was supposed to stay upstairs with the nanny. Sometimes the nanny wouldn't even be there.

And then there was that robbery case that occurred during one of those parties. Elise had been the sole witness. Dr. Jung's first instinct was to check the damage done to the house. Elise's first instinct was to run to Patrick.

Patrick didn't need any more evidence after that. Child Protective Services didn't either.

Which brings them to now. A friendly business relationship between Patrick and Mx. Baek, both with Elise's best interests in mind. Mx. Baek might be terse, suspicious, with little patience for incompetency, but it’s all with their client’s wellbeing in mind. Clients who aren’t ready to advocate for themselves just yet. And considering how long he assumes they’ve been doing her job, it’s safe to assume more often than not the parents of their clients are less than...savoury. It only makes sense for them to be cynical if not SUSPICIOUS of Patrick’s intentions of volunteering to take Elise in so readily.

“Did you know that some butterflies can be poisonous? Mind you, none of them are venomous because they don’t have spines, fangs, or any piercing body parts to inject their toxins in with. It seems like a loss, considering that its previous form, the caterpillar, can have spines. But if one were to eat a butterfly, they certainly wouldn’t be exempt from consuming such toxins. Take the monarch butterfly for example- as a caterpillar, it starts to stocks up on toxins from the milkweed it intakes. By the time it’s undergone metamorphosis, the toxins take their place in the wings and the abdomen.” He sets his cup of tea down. “That being said, it’s not enough to necessarily kill a predator upon consumption, but the pain from digesting it is certainly enough to ward one away from trying AGAIN.��

Of course, that’s probably not what Mx. Baek was thinking when they said that. They probably meant that as a compliment- Patrick being harmless as a butterfly. But if he were to think of butterflies in a more metaphorical sense, well...

Butterflies. Typically in literature, regardless of the region, they’re a symbol of hope, life, renewal, and doubling in a literal sense, transformation. CHANGE.

Maybe Mx. Baek comparison isn’t so accurate after all.

Nevertheless, he chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck and watching the steam from their coffee rise. “My apologies, I’ve been...we’ve been reading about butterflies the last few days. I was thinking about getting one of those butterfly kits so she can see one GROW herself. I won’t let her eat it either, if you’re worried.”

Writers update [2022/03/17]

I have to start with thanking you. I can't tell you how happy I am to answer your questions and thoughts, I am so honored and humbled by your curiosity and support! :sobs: Ouroboros has been with me as an escape for so long, to get to share it with people is so scary but rewarding beyond words. Thank you so much!! 

Now, progress. Right now, I'm about halfway through the polishing of the demo; I have added choices and rewritten some others, generally just fixing up and making pretty. And of course, adding even more stubborn and chaotic MC choices. *snort* 

Your suggestions have been priceless! I can’t tell you how much fun I had writing the princess-carrying (+another choice ) Id, I’m dying to get this update out so I can get your reactions. :’)

I'm also adding Unicode-hints as I go, so that will be all done by the time I finish fixing.

As for forward writing, the scene with Lena and Bell is almost done :> 

I will be adding that, and the RO one-on-ones with the next demo update. I want to see if I can write some beyond that, but I have to stitch together what I already have first. Right now I can't promise an exact date for the demo refresh, but I will give 2-3 days warning in case anyone wants to finish playing their save. I'd say that a demo update is at least a week or two away, depending on how much time I have for writing.

As for prompts both smutty and prim, I have a solution! Because I want to torture you with the emotional rollercoaster that Ouroboros is, I will be answering spoilery RO reactions and other writing drabbles in a sort of alternate universe, if you will.  Somewhere the conflicts and dilemmas of Ouro are not present. I think it could work. I currently have some asks I want to smash together and write out in some very spicy drabbles for every RO.   What do you think?

honorable mention to the moment where everyone collectively realized Puck was a child because it's a player moment and not a PC moment but it was still fucking hilarious to experience. Literally everyone but me thought he was an adult and I assumed everyone thought knew was a child and it was...really fucking funny to watch

A: Sammy meeting privately with Prim.

I originally planned for Prim to be a character who showed up before each major boss fight to give a bit of cryptic lore and vaguely steer the party in the right direction or keep them from overextending themselves, her introduction in the first dungeon was so impactful (and fun!) that I felt I couldn't resist and included her as an "Arcana-holder" for the party to bond with. And especially seeing her friendship with Sammy develop from that very first encounter has been...fucking amazing, I love it so much.

B: Blake requests that Prim spare their teammates.

On the subject of Prim, her introduction was one of the most fun parts of the campaign to date, just having this mysterious individual psychoanalyze the entire cast, upping the stakes in almost every possible way, it was so fucking fun. But Blake's response stands out to me as a fucking amazing encapsulation of their character, through all their development. The pride, and anger, and absurd intelligence and – beneath mountains and mountains of shame – the unwavering compassion for their friends. It's a fucking amazing bit of writing, and I love how much it just...epitomizes Blake Leto in a single paragraph.

C: Lena breaks Lucien's nose, and Ilse meets with Stephen.

The introduction of Team Trinity was a fucking blast, and while Kaya had some fun moments too (and will hopefully have a few more soon), both Lucien and Stephen's introductions were absolutely fucking iconic. I knew from the start of the campaign that I wanted to have a rival team of Persona-users show up to periodically harass the party, and give an insight to the type of people who Daedalus's structure cultivates and rewards, and Ilse having a named childhood friend in their backstory was too good of an opportunity not to return; and I feel like the reveal of their shared history went really well. Lucien wasn't planned to have too impactful of an introduction, mostly just as the most abrasive of the three to start things off on the worst foot first, but Dave's snap decision to have Lena punch him in the face for a borderline skeezy comment was...fucking amazing, and perfectly in character for Lena.

D: Camellia and Sakio at Frey's grave.

It's a quiet moment, one that I didn't expect at all at the time, but it definitely sticks out in my memory as just...solemn, and beautiful, and potent. (And it definitely makes me so fucking excited for @shinyvibrava to return to the campaign so we can have a ton more moments like it!)

E: Sammy's introduction.

I don't think there's been a more hype reveal in the campaign so far as Sammy's existence, everyone lost their fucking mind and I don't blame them! It was a blast to plan things out with Nyanko in secret, and I adore how excited everyone was to see everyone's favorite goat friend for the first time.

F (because I couldn't limit myself to five + honorable mention I'm sorrryyy): The Hunters unite with the common goal of Fucking Up Jabberwocky's Day.

Sammy getting KO'd and promptly revived, leading to the most fucking triumphant, amazing fight scene in the entire campaign so far as every Hunter took their turn in the round to land a chain of really fucking high-roll attacks (while I had changed the boss battle music to Counterstrike from P5 Strikers on a WHIM) and Sakio pulled out a taste of her own strength – which she'd been limiting in front of the party up until that point? It was just fucking AWESOME and probably the most jazzed I have been during a session so far.

📓- do you actually write in your notebooks

i do! i do that whenever i've got writer's block actually. it helps me get words on paper because i *know* that's not going to be the final version.

and that's the thing that really causes writer's block for me, when i somehow get this idea/feeling in my mind that everything's gotta be perfect right from the start when i type out the words. which is ridiculous (at least for the way i write).

i'll write, and edit, and edit, and edit again.

sometimes give it to a friend to read. talk loads and way too much about it with everyone who will listen haha. but yeah, i do use my notebooks!

last time i used it was for translating shara's fic for the translation gift exchange @voidstilesplease

📺- would you watch your wip on a movie

I WOULD, I WOULD WATCH THE F. OUT OF THAT MOVIE!

right now, i'm thinking of two fics as my wips. one has its first chapter online already (Imagine Me and You (I Do)) and is gally/thomas/teresa, and the other one has several pieces and scenes already written out, but nothing published yet, that's the TNT fic! (teresa/newt/thomas)

funny that they're both mmf ot3s--i just want to see them all In Love your honor *puppy eyes*.

plus i find ot3 get-together stories so interesting, because you basically get 3 fold of your normal pining + bisexual angst hmmmmmmm *happy sigh*

and if there's one thing i love, it's pining and ANGST--with a happy ending. <333

plus i mean with ot3s there's always the fun part where one or all of them get confused because it "IsnT RIgHt" to be in love with more than one person hehehehhhhh. (or they feel bad for being in love with someone who's already in a relationship)

oh. i may have poured all of my thoughts into the above section lol. though i will try and find appreciation for the one fic that has been in my drafts for a very long time, and that i've been having conflicted feelings about for various reasons.

but that's cool, let me think about my favorite thing about that fic. hmm. probably that i love to write thomas being glum and stubborn and hopelessly painstakingly piningly being in love lol :P <3 (sorry darling aksldjfklasd)
