8 days lemosho route
Mount Kilimanjaro
Kilimanjaro is the highest free-standing mountain in the world. People from all over the world come to Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro hoping to stand proud on the 19,341 foot Uhuru Point. Ice-covered Kilimanjaro is a spectacular sight. But that prospect won't last long. Glaciers are melting at an alarming rate due to global warming and will disappear completely in 50 years. 8 days lemosho
In 2013, around 50,000 tourists climbed Kilimanjaro. The number has grown steadily every year. What makes Kilimanjaro such a magnetic attraction for adventurers is that climbing Kilimanjaro does not require any technical skills or mountaineering equipment such as ice axes, crampons, harnesses and ropes. Kilimanjaro is just a walk up the mountain. As long as you can put one foot in front of the other and are in good physical condition, you can climb Mount Kilimanjaro National Council of Tanzania. Park Authority. 8 days lemosho
The Authority maintains the main routes on Kilimanjaro to ensure safety, cleanliness and flow. In addition, park rangers monitor activities on the mountain to ensure that every climber is accompanied by a licensed guide on a Kilimanjaro trek. You must not climb Kilimanjaro alone.
Lemosho Route Description
Access to the trail begins with a long drive from Moshi or Arusha to Londorossi Gate. This can take three to four hours. The Londorossi Gate is located at the western foot of the mountain.
Lemosho begins in a lush and fertile rainforest. It's the first ecological zone you'll find on Kilimanjaro (four of us will walk).
The route goes uphill and through the Shira Plateau, which was the third peak of Kilimanjaro before its collapse. We then drive north to Moir Hut which makes a great acclimatization day due to the short hikes that can be done in the nearby LentHills.
Then we climb up and over Lava Tower before descending into the Barranco Valley, one of the most scenic areas of the entire trail. We scaled the intimidating Barranco Wall and then hiked the South Loop to Karanga and BarafuHut High Camp.
The summit attempt is made from Barafu in the early hours of the morning. often at full moon.
This is the coldest and windiest part of your adventure. But once the sun is out, so are most of the extra layers. After the summit, the descent follows the Mweka Trail.
Overview
The route is one of the few where groups can be accompanied by an armed ranger on the first day as the forests surrounding the Lemosho Glades are inhabited by buffalo, elephant and other wildlife.
8 days Lemosho has one of the highest success rates. The extra days give your body more time to acclimatize, reducing the effects of altitude sickness and giving you more time to rest before scaling the summit.
Best Time to Climb Kilimanjaro
Tanzania doesn't have four seasons like most people are used to. Instead, Tanzania experiences wet and dry seasons. During the rainy season it can rain steadily every day making your time on the mountain quite difficult. Therefore, the best time to climb Kilimanjaro is during the dry season. These months include: January, February, July, August, September, October.
The months of the rainy season are: March, April, May, June, November and December.
Kilimanjaro creates its own weather and can be very unpredictable. Snowstorms, torrential rains or brutal winds can occur at any time of the year. Those who climb Kilimanjaro must be properly equipped. That means being prepared for all possible conditions on your trip.
After all, you don't conquer a mountain. She lets you go when it feels right. People who are not sufficiently prepared pay the price very quickly.

Kilimanjaro Trekking Packages: The Most Affordable Choice For You
Nowadays, the Tanzania Serengeti safari tours, and Kilimanjaro trekking packages are gaining much popularity for many reasons. It offers two of the most convenient experiences of Africa: the safari through plains dotted with wildlife and the climb to the towering heights of Mount Kilimanjaro. Though completely different from each other, they spell out some of the most unforgettable adventures. For instance, if one wants to experience watching the Great Migration in a Serengeti safari, or if he is an adventure-seeker who has in his plans a Kilimanjaro trekking package to challenge him. Whether it is a safari tour of Serengeti or a trekking package of Kilimanjaro, the perfect destination of an out-of-the-world adventure awaits you in Tanzania.
Tanzania Serengeti Safari Tours: Witness Wildlife at its Best
One of the world's most famous national parks is the Serengeti. Tanzania Serengeti safari tours are streamed to give the safaris an experience one would never have imagined. Wildlife diversity commences from the Big Five: those are lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo, and elephant, to cheetahs, giraffes, and zebras through the heart of Serengeti in game drives with expert guides to make sure you witness the best wildlife action.
The most-stamped portion of each Serengeti tour is the Great Migration in which millions of wildebeests and zebras make their move across the plains in search of fresh grazing. Most of the safari packages are usually planned to coincide with that spectacular display and give close encounters to that drama. The great comfort and convenience Serengeti offers are luxurious lodges or even tented camps along safari tours in this wild.
Kilimanjaro trekking package is the ultimate adventure-testing activity. Since this is Africa's highest mountain, many people, especially tourists, come here to hike or climb Mount Kilimanjaro for its summits capped with snow. This artistic planning of Kilimanjaro trekking packages includes various routes taken into consideration; Marangu, Machame, and Lemoshoare among the main attractions. Irrespective of how much one would love nature and adventure, safari tours around Tanzania's Serengeti and trekking packages to Kilimanjaro will open up wonders into the heart of Africa for one.

7 Days Lemosho Route Climbing Kilimajaro
The Lemosho route is considered the most scenic trail on Kilimanjaro, granting panoramic vistas on various sides of the mountain. As one of the newer routes, Lemosho is a superb choice for your climb. It is our preferred route due to its ideal balance of low crowds, beautiful scenery and a high summit success, xxxx specializes in guiding on the Lemosho route. Most of our clients climb Kilimanjaro using this route and they consistently report that they loved it. Thus, Lemosho is highly recommended. 7 days Lemosho
The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west, beginning with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the rain forest to Shira Ridge. The Lemosho route crosses the entire Shira Plateau from west to east in a pleasant, relatively flat hike. Crowds are low until the route joins the Machame route near Lava Tower. Then the route travers’s underneath Kilimanjaro's Southern Ice Field on a path known as the Southern Circuit before summiting from Barafu. Descent is made via the Mweka route.
Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Forest Camp
Elevation (ft): 7,800ft to 9,500ft
Distance: 6 km
Hiking Time:3-4 hours
Habitat: Rain Forest
We depart Arusha/Moshi for Londorossi Gate, which takes about 4 hours, where you will complete entry formalities. Then drive to the Lemosho trailhead (another hour to reach the trailhead). Upon arrival at trailhead, we eat lunch, and then commence through undisturbed forest which winds to the first camp site.
Day 2: Forest Camp to Shira Camp
Elevation (ft): 9,500ft to 11,500ft
Distance: 8 km
Hiking Time 5-6 hours
Habitat: Moorland
We continue on the trail leading out of the forest and into a savannah of tall grasses, heather, and volcanic rock draped with lichen beards. As we ascend through the lush rolling hills and cross several streams, we reach the Shira Ridge before dropping gently down to Shira 1 camp. The view of Kibo from across the plateau is amazing.
Day 3: Shira Camp 1 to Shira 2 to Moir Camp
Elevation (ft): 11,500ft to 13,800 ft
Distance: 14 km
Hiking Time: 5-7 hours
Habitat: Moorland
We explore the Shira plateau for a full day. It is a gentle walk east toward Kibo’s glaciered peak, across the plateau which leads to Shira 2 camp on moorland meadows by a stream. Then we continue to Moir Hut, a little used site on the base of Lent Hills. A variety of walks are available on Lent Hills making this an excellent acclimatization opportunity. Shira is one of the highest plateaus on earth.
Day 4: Moir Hut to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
Elevation (ft): 13,800ft to 13,000ft
Distance: 7 km
Hiking Time: 4-6 hours
Habitat: Semi Desert
From the Shira Plateau, we continue to the east up a ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. As we continue, our direction changes to the South East towards the Lava Tower, called the “Shark’s Tooth.” Shortly after the tower, we come to the second junction which brings us up to the Arrow Glacier at an altitude of 16,000ft. We now continue down to the Barranco Hut at an altitude of 13,000ft. Here we rest, enjoy dinner, and overnight. Although you end the day at the same elevation as when you started, this day is very important for acclimatization and will help your body prepare for summit day.
Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Elevation (ft): 13,000ft to 15,000ft
Distance: 9km
Hiking Time: 8-10 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert
After breakfast, we leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barranco Wall, to the Karanga Valley campsite. Then, we leave Karanga and hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. We continue up to the Barafu Hut. At this point, you have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. Here we make camp, rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day. The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are to be seen from this position.
Day 6: Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Camp
Elevation (ft): 15,300ft to 19,345ft (and down to 10,000ft)
Distance: 5 km ascent / 12 km descent
Hiking Time: 7-8 hours ascent / 4-6 hours descent
Habitat: Arctic
Very early in the morning (midnight to 2am), we continue our way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. You head in a northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek.
At Stella Point (18,600 ft), you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see (weather permitting). From Stella Point, you may encounter snow all the way on your 1-hour ascent to the summit. At Uhuru Peak, you have reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa. Faster hikers will see the sunrise from the summit.
From the summit, we now make our descent continuing straight down to the Mweka Hut camp site, stopping at Barafu for lunch. You will want gaiters and trekking poles for the loose gravel going down. Mweka Camp is situated in the upper forest and mist or rain can be expected in the late afternoon. Later in the evening, we enjoy our last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep.
Day 7: Mweka Camp to Moshi
Elevation (ft): 10,000ft to 5,400ft
Distance: 10 km
Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
Habitat: Rain Forest
After breakfast, we continue the descent down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and t-shirts will probably be plenty to wear (keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy).
From the gate, you continue another hour to Mweka Village. A vehicle will meet you at Mweka village to drive you back to hotel in Arusha/ Moshi.
