Name: Baloc Leiffas
Player: Wesley
Class: Anti-Paladin Insinuator 16
Race: Drider; formerly Drow
Age: 152
Mythic Path: Champion
Portfolio: Punishment
Baloc was born in the drow city of Haunderlyn to the esteemed noble family of Leiffas, who had been childless for over a decade of trying, and were delighted to finally have a child. His early childhood was calm and pleasant, with all the family watching Baloc closely, especially his grandmother, Loscivia, the Matriarch of the Leiffas family. As Baloc grew from infant to child, his health became clear, and Loscivia promised her grandson in an arranged marriage to another noble drow family. All would have gone as planned if not for one thing.
The Leiffas family was renowned for their noble blood, and her daughter, Lexatril, had married a noble renowned for his power, viciousness in combat, and martial prowess fighting elven forces. As such, it had been natural to assume that any child born of such a marriage should be of noble birth. Baloc was not. His parents, knowing that Loscivia would demand Baloc be killed and full of desperate love and fear for their son, managed to hide this fact until his 50th birthday, when it was uncovered by his tutor.
Loscivia, enraged at the deception, called for Baloc鈥檚 death, both to escape the betrothal and avoid him bringing disgrace to the family. Baloc's parents pleaded for disownment, then disownment and exile, but Loscivia's rage would not be sated without blood. In desperation to save his son鈥檚 life, Baloc's father suggested fleshwarping, then leaving him at a temple to be raised. Loscivia, certain that Baloc would die horrifically and in pain, agreed. Regardless of the outcome, she could keep this incident quiet and pretend he had just died.
Baloc's father, Abdurex, went to an old friend, a cleric of Haagenti of House Parastric to perform the procedure. The process went about as "well" as could be expected, and Baloc managed to cling to life with only relatively minor complications.
With great reluctance, his parents dropped him off at a temple of Nocticula to be raised. While, his form made the option of seduction seem untenable (being mocked by those who overcame their fear when he went out in public areas), it did have its advantages. While his academic pursuits didn't tend to advance much beyond reading, writing, arithmetic, and his religious education, he excelled in his martial training and was allowed to observe assassinations by the year's end. In ten years, he was going with the assassins to help and not simply watch. In another 10, he was carrying out assassinations alone.
However, his instructors knew that his talents did not lie with stealth, and so it was decided he would be trained as a soldier. However, a presiding succubus received a divine revelation that Baloc was to become an anti-paladin for a demon lord and he should train for that day. His training shifted focus, and by the time he reached adult hood at 110, he was already a deadly foe. On that day, he received a precious gift as he was told of his fate, a heavily enchanted steel bow, in honor of his patron, Shamira. He spent the next two and a half decades travelling, gaining strength and powerful magics, while gaining vengeance against those who wronged him.
However, on his 135th birthday, he received a message from his old temple that they were in trouble, under attack by a dragon cult. He rushed back, and saw that several of the temple's faithful whores, assassins, and even a shadow dancer lay dead. Enraged, he set out to punish the dragon, a great elder wyrm golden dragon, who had amassed a fanatical cult, whose purpose was to purify the world of filth and found a glorious empire. Baloc found the cult鈥檚 base and entered to deliver punishment. The only thing of the dragon or his followers that left their base was the spark of divinity Baloc had stolen from his kill.
The survivors of the dragon鈥檚 massacre returned to the temple, and Baloc received a demonic artifact from the temple's faithful. Whether they had it all along or found it in a hidden vault of the dragon, Baloc could not say. But he had more people to punish and an artifact to do it with. For seventeen years he punished his enemies, travelling alone, until he was contacted by his patron, Shamira who directed him to join the conspiracy.
