Ngayong december 3 ako’y gumising upang mag almusal at mag bantay ng online na paninda at bandang tanghali sinimulan ko ang pag gawa sa ELS para matapos ko ito at hindi ma late sa pasahan at pag dating ng hapon ay ginawa ko naman ang mga gawain ko sa bahay at sinimulan ang pag gawa ng takdang Essay sa ETECh at ngayong gabi ay ginagawa ko itong takda sa KP at maya maya ay muli nanaman akong mag papahinga.

life’s update part 2

the only thing na pumipigil sa akin is my fear. i don’t have the technical knowledge because i’m just an accountant, i don’t know anything about software and IT thingy. also, why me? i’m the newest and less-experienced among the managers. all of these thoughts scare me.

on the day of the decision before i lay down my answer, i returned to them the question, how do they ended up with the decision of choosing me? i have to know it so we can meet halfway and mutually understand each other, what do they expect, what should they expect from me and what i’m expecting from them. 

their answer was like a music to my ear.

“believe us leif cause hindi ito bola. there’s no one else but you, we know you’re scared, we know and we are aware that you will struggle and fail at first but we believe you’ll make it.”

gaano sila kasigurado doon sa sagot nila? what triggered them is the pandemic. they saw how my team performed when everything shifted suddenly to virtual and work from home arrangement. they saw how the other departments struggled, had a hard time adopting to changes and were not ready for this kind of situation. but my team made it look easy daw and in fact had a notable process improvements too. sinabi ko na it was not me alone why we did that, it took a whole team. and ako naman very vocal how proud i am with my group. i’m just the concept but my team is the core and real change maker.

sometimes natatakot na din ako sa pagiging hard headed ko as a person, this time when insisting right from wrong, by disagreeing with the boomers. ang toxic nila kausap sa totoo lang.

background. our hr dep failed to register us in makati lgu for vaccination sched. sa makati kasi hr ng company ang magreregister for the whole company. but they didn’t do their job. 

ang remedy may isa kaming director na meron connection sa manila, so dun dinala ung mga empleyado for bakuna, again hr ung may gawa nyan bakit sa manila sila dinala. sila nagpasched and nakipag usap. i’m not included since i already got mine by my own. sobrang frustrating ng hr namin sa totoo lang kaya hindi ko na inasahan pa at ako na ung naghanap ng way para sa sarili ko.

long story short, ayun nabakunahan yesterday ung ilan sa katrabahon ko sa san lazaro manila and ito ung plot twist. siningil sila nung tao na nag asikaso ng schedule, 100-150 pesos each. 

today may isang staff nagsumbong sa akin, hindi ko under ung staff na yun. but he rather chose to tell me kasi he knows na ako lang ung may lakas ng loob magraise ng issue. so after hearing the story, sinabi ko sa staff na sana hindi nila binayaran. kaso no choice daw, after sila maturukan saka sila siningil. parang holdap ang nangyari.

so nagmessage ako sa gc namin na member ung ilang managers, boss and staff na din. ang message ko was “siningil daw ng 100 each ung mga tao natin, what for? hindi ba libre ang bakuna?”

walang sumagot. after several minutes ung boss namin nag PM sakin. she told me na para daw un sa tao na nag asikaso, token of appreciation daw. sumagot ako ng “appreciation for? basic human right ang bakuna bakit siya dapat iappreciate.”

reply siya “alam mo leif parang BIR yan, if walang under the table, hindi bibilis ang negotiation” sumagot ako “yes that was corruption and comparing it to red tape doesn’t make it right. ang mali kahit po san niyo kumpara, mali pa din.”

ramdam ko na ung inis niya sa sumunod  na reply “willing kami ireimburse ung binayad nila, 100 lang naman un. i will get their gcash acct para mabalik.” sagot ulit ako “100 pesos lang un sa inyo, pero sa mga rank & file malaking bagay yun. and kung hindi to naraise sa inyo magkakaroon ba kayo ng willingness na ibalik ang pera?”

last reply niya “ibabalik naman talaga namin yun sa mga tao.” di na ko sumagot kasi alam kong caugh off guard na siya.

other managers also messaged me telling me na token of appreciation lang daw yun at nagtanong sino daw ba kasi nagrereklamo sa 100. sinagot ko sila ng “token of appreciation? fixer tawag don wag niyo na pagandahin. nagrereklamo? hindi reklamo magsabi ng totoo at mag expose ng mali.”

last na reply ko “wag ako ang awayin niyo, ang HR dapat, sila ang di gumawa ng trabaho nila. kawawa mga tao natin kung pati kayo ganyan mag-isip”

within an hour naibalik sa mga staff ung 100 pesos nila. pero after non ramdam ko na irita sakin mga bosses and ibang managers. pero nagpasalamat naman ung ilang mga tao at buti daw vocal ako. 

i mean, bakit ka matatakot at tatahimik kung alam mo at nasa side mo ang tama. 

also, karapatan natin ang bakuna. hindi yan pabor sa ibang tao na dapat bigyan ng token of appreciation. libre yan.
