Season 1 of Arcane did a really good job of having me suspend my disbelief because how does a man claim to have known his now girlfriend for like 7 years, she reveals the painful truth of her estrangement from her family to him, and then he goes off and takes the advice of not just her estranged mom (Ambessa), but also an absolute stranger (Vi) over her? The topic of said advice is something his girlfriend explicitly told him he had no expertise in and shouldn't make any rash decisions about, and then he does anyway. How is that not a break-up-able offense?

#arcane #mel medarda #jayce talis #it's like first of all how dare you listen to my mother over me #asghkllkjl #but seriously if the show actually took mel and Jayce's relationship a little more seriously #there'd be way more tension and even argumenrs over this stuff #heck this could have been a part of Mel's own plotline in s2 bcuz jayce is like the human embodiment of piltover like jinx #and mel's kind of over-idealized piltiver should be vs is #and so she both help mold that ideal but also indulges jayce and piltover without any real guardrails except for her charisma #and then when things come down to the wire jayce (and piltover by extension) don't actually listen to her advice #they only take in the convenient stuff #legit it was so weird mel never got upset with jayce for busting up the refinery and killing that kid #or building caitlyn hextech weapons which only further escalated the crisis and played into Ambessa's hands #oe that he quit the council and she has less votes to count on to help preserve some semblance of peace #i thought that was going to be one of the things they'd address before they broke up #but no mel was just expected to take all of that and the narrative never questions it (probe cuz the writers never did)#arcane ramble
