I was debating on whether or not I should ask about this via messages or ask, but decided to go with asks cause why not.
I feel like I've asked something super similar to this in the past, but how do you handle the villains of the series in your cactuverse? Cause I've actually been having some difficulties with how I want to share them in the legendverse. Guzma and Ghetsis are fairly easy for me to know what to do with them, but others are difficult, especially in relation to my ocs. Cyrus seems the most difficult for me. He caused Danica a lot of trauma, despite her chill demeanor. She literally had to defeat him at a young age with little to no help outside of her friends, Looker( kinda) and Cynthia ( kinda. Still working on that part). Oh and Rowan, but he's the grandpa moral support. But she still did a lot of the work, you know? She was still the one that got dragged into that mess.
My main difficulty is trying that balance of " this man is literally evil" and " he can learn to be better if he legitimately tries" and that's so confusing with someone like Cyrus. He got the implied sad backstory that makes me go " ah. He needs therapy" but that doesn't excuse for what he did. Sorry if I'm talking in circles here( and for that rant) just. Cyrus. Villains. Author problems? Yeah.
Hi, there @ihopethisendswell! Ah yes, author problems! How do we handle the villains of Pokemon? You've asked me about how I felt about the villains in general which more or less goes to I really don't care for most of the villain teams. As I've mentioned before Cactusverse tends to be rather painfully accurate to the game canon for the various main series game events. Now what happens after the credit rolls varies between the villains/antagonists I'll start with Legends Arceus. Even though Kamado still retains his position as commander there is a quite noticeable dip in faith in his leadership after what he pulls on Rei (cactusverse legends protag). Over time as Jubilife Village continues to grow Kamado will eventually step down handing the reins to Cyllene and it's Rei who becomes the captain of the survey corps in his adult years. Now with Volo, there's a bit more of an emotional pull. The one thing I do change in canon for Legends is that Rei is not an isekai'd protagonist. Rather he's someone from that time period who happens to be of the Celestica people much like Cogita and Volo. So the betrayal and everything hits a lot different since there are just so few Celestica people left in Hisui at the time. I'm admittedly still ironing out the details for cactusverse!Hisui so I don't have much more to say here. Now for Team Rocket. After the events in Johto the Rocket admins all get arrested by the G-men (with the charge mainly led by Silver and Yellow with Lance in the background now that he's no longer champion after being dethroned by Ethan). Giovanni of course makes his escape as he does appear in BW2 over a decade later only to get Hyperbeamed by Lance on-sight (sorry Giovanni, Lance is Silver's new dad), and Looker arrests Giovanni. I do include the Let's Go Kanto Trio in cactusverse but I give them their own unique villain plot with the Team Rocket Trio since they are the last remaining members of Team Rocket who eventually realize they're better at being good than being bad and so they officially disband Team Rocket in Kanto. Then there's Team Aqua and Team Magma. Hoenn is one of the regions where there's some heavy meshing of canons. The climax of the plot ends up like Emerald where they both summon their respective legendaries and shit hits the fan. But this is more or less ORAS Hoenn so they have their ORAS designs and Megas and Zinnia are involved. Steven is still champion here but I do include him and May tag-teaming in the main game like Emerald because that was the coolest thing ever to me as a kid (and I had the biggest crush on Steven and at some point, I need to gush about him because he's still bae). Since Maxie and Archie are more misguided than anything they do get rehabilitated over time, with Zinnia and Wallace (who becomes champion after May decides to not be a standing champion) who help them get better.
Alright so for Team Galactic. Cactusverse follows Platinum for its events. Cyrus stays in the distortion world and dies. It's only after Dawn and Cynthia hear the story of him in Sunyshore that they realize he was more misguided but by the time they try to rescue him it's too late. The admins are arrested through a combination of Looker and the aura guardians of Sinnoh (mobilized by Riley). For Team Plasma well Neo Team Plasma largely gets arrested over time through the combined efforts of Good Team Plasma, the G-men, the international police, and the Village of Dragons (who contain the few remaining full-fledged aura guardians in Unova). Ghetsis and the Shadow Triad die in the Giant Chasm though. For Team Flare, Lysandre dies. Xerosic and Malva go to jail after the Emma events. For Alola, I've mentioned this before but I do mix up a bit of SM and USUM. The SM part is Lusamine being evil AF to her children. Lusamine also dies here but right now I'm torn if Marsha and Lillie bring her back to their world and she succumbs to the poisoning there OR if Lillie and Marsha decide to leave her in Ultra Space. Last but not least is Galar...chairman Rose goes to jail and because he is genuinely remorseful he doesn't take the lighter punishment given (because of his wealth as the courts in Galar are rather corrupt) and serves his entire sentence. The Royal Twins get off easy mainly because of their royal connections.
So that's pretty much how I handle cactusverse villains. I'll be down to talk more about legendsverse in DMs if you want to throw some ideas around!

Legendverse Silver Chosen powers break down( at least ideas so far)!
Space Time Anomaly sensing - Can sense when things are displaced in time, thought it's usually Celebi that puts them back in their original timeline. Fallers and people displaced by Arceus himself are much much harder to track down.
^ side note to this: a variant of time anomaly sensing is the possibility of sensing when a bad future can take place. Now, truthfully anything could lead to a bad end future, but given how Celebi often exists in times of peace, I think it would be accurate for Silver to be able to sense when something is gonna negatively effect the timeline in that way.
Time travel - Yes Silver and travel through time. No, he can't exactly choose where to go without some physical thing that could connect him to it. Celebi can definitely go wherever willy nilly.
Purification - can purify shadow pokemon, takes energy however. Requires Celebi for bigger purifications or a long line of them.
Plant growth/manipulated - has the ability to make plants grow bigger and healthier. This may or may not have led to him developing a green thumb. Just based on that one scene from that movie, I think Silver can manipulate plants too. As a treat.
Speed up - Slow down: More smaller scale time travel- as in he can speed up something or slow it down momentarily/ when maintaining focus. Great for when you're in a rush tbh.
Rewind: Can rewind time of objects. So he can technically revive a fossil into its original state. Or stop a cup of coffee smashing on the floor.

Honestly with my new definition of "soul like silver" for my own au, and with the way I am trying to write silver, I'm kinda realizing that Silver is a genuine candidate for both Ho-Oh and Lugia's Chosen. Which just makes it very funny that he ends up getting Chosen by Celebi.
Even weirder, I also feel like at first glance, Aiko and Silver should be switched? Aiko was always in tune with nature and pokemon and her grandparents are close to Ilex forest so like. You'd think it would have been her. But no, she gets Chosen by the Lugia. I'm definitely going to rewrite how that goes along side Silver really. I think it's a matter of them eventually growing into their Chosen Status ( Aiko strengthening her resolve, Silver....doing whatever he does, I need to think about it) and eventually becoming worthy.

Like Beryl, I've been considering changing Silver's main team. I don't know how I feel about Electivire right now, buuuuut I've noticed how early gen rivals tend to have the Magnemite line, so I thought switching it up would be nice. Still, magnezon is a good pokemon, so I'm not entirely sure if I want to change that. Of course, there's rotation pokemon, so I can have all the pokemon I think would fit silver best, but I'm trying not to go overboard like some ocs I have.
It is kinda cute that Silver ends up having an Electivire to Kenji's Magmortar, but again, not 100% sure.
Also! The Gyarados I still believe comes post game, so chances are Silver has exactly 5 pokemon at victory road. I don't want Silver to raise a Magikarp before training with lance, and I couldn't really think of a pokemon that fits Silver ( I know he has Alakazam in canon but I'm trying to give more johto pokemon some love). Ursaring is an option, but maybe not long term 🤔 ? I dunno. Tell me what u guys think.

The Gyarados that Legendverse! Silver ends up getting a gift from Lance early on in Silver's training as a Magikarp. While he has certainly grown a lot from the beginning of his journey, Lance wanted to see how Silver could manage to train "the worst" pokemon.
It was...a struggle to say the least. Silver knew what Magikarp would become. Big and powerful. A wonderful asset to his team. He also knew that he had to treat his Magikarp with respect and care. But when you literally have a pokemon that can just splash around, it gets....frustrating to train. His chikorita now Meganium was still able to do something, you know?
He would vent about it to Kenji and Beryl ( not Aiko. She's on thin ice. Vice versa with her to him). Both of them have him advice that he already knew: be patient, believe in Magikarp, yada yada yada. He got that. But it's hard.
Then, one day, Kenji told Silver of Magikarps ability to jump really high. Silver did not believe this, not at first. His Magikarp just flops around. But Kenji was insistent and it was starting to annoy Silver so he gave it a go. His Magikarp.....cannot jump for shit. It's laughable. But Kenji still swears up and down that they can, so Silver suppose he can give it another go.
And that's when the jump training started. Silver and Magikarp would train together to improve Magikarp's jumping. And again, it was frustrating, but with each training session, Silver and Magikarp's bond grew. Silver learned that his Magikarp was a bit of a goof ball, finding enjoyment in making Silver laugh or trying ( and failing) to do complicated tricks to impress his trainer and fellow teammates. But also that Magikarp had the will of giants.
Soon enough, after a long long time of training, Magikarp was able to jump 7 feet into the air. And Silver was proud! He praised his Magikarp endlessly, but Magikarp wasn't done. He wanted to go even higher. And who is Silver but to deny his pokemon that? So the training continues, much easier this time. Both Silver and Magikarp have gotten close to each other, understanding how the other works and what compromises can be done. And Magikarp was able to jump higher and higher and higher until....
One day. Silver's Magikarp was able to jump the highest it has ever gotten ever. And as Silver watched with pride as his little Magikarp jumped in the air, Magikarp began to glow. He glowed and he grew and before Silver knew it a faint Gyarados was in the air and was coming straight down. Silver got incredibly wet in the splashdown. But he didn't care. He was thrilled. Grinning ear to ear as he rushed over to his beloved Magikarp, now a Gyarados, singing him praises and giving him a lot of pets. He totally wasn't crying, that was just the water.

Hmmmm
Considering Legendverse Johto quartet all having tattoos representing their Legendary.
Kenji: Phoenix wings on his back. Not related to his powers at all just think it looks cool.
Aiko: Either arm tattooed of crashing waves or a chest tattoo in the shape of Lugia's silver feather ( or whatever it's called)
Beryl: Nothing too big, maybe of their shoulder or thigh, a couple of turquoise crystals with a blue wind going in between them.
Silver: Hmmmm, maybe also on his back, but the lower part of it. In the middle is the image of a clock, and going up and down from are what seems to be branches or roots extending from it, each one having blossoming flowers attached. This could also be a chest tattoo, with the branches going left to right instead of up and down.
Of all my ocs, the Johtonian quartet are arguably the most likely to get tattoos ( next to Jin lol, which I never really discussed but they would).
Also none of the tattoos are related to their powers lol. They don't do anything, it just looks cool.

I'm kinda working out how I want Celebi to work, but I think the general vibe I have is that there can essentially be "newbies". Basically Celebi's that are much more young and inexperienced at their roles. I think it's either a "Celebi can die and get reincarnated as a new Celebi, as a cycle" or " Celebi's can grow old and die and give back to the earth. Before this happens, however, a new Celebi pops into existence and is taught the ropes". Again, I haven't worked things out. But with all of that being said, the Celebi that Choose Silver in my au is one of the "newbies", which definitely means lots of chaos and time shenanigans.

Don't ask me why I have Legendverse! Silver ( an adult here) the Jessie boots, I don't know why either.
Aiko tells him it's not super practical and Silver goes " bitch, it's called ✨ fashion ✨" and they end up getting in a fist fight/j.

Beryl isn't as annoying to Silver as Kenji's and Aiko only because Beryl me took Silver seriously in the beginning. In a way, he reminded them of their older brother, who already gets on her nerves, except with red hair and younger than them. They could have bullied silver a bit, but they chose to just not take his anger and rudeness at face value ( unless he truly says something out of line, in which they scold him for). Anyway, that nonchalant attitude Beryl had towards Silver turned into them becoming an older figure to him. They keep him humble without having to battle him.
Basically, when Beryl says " You're a good person, Silver", Silver would mumble under his breath " sure...fine...whatever"( he's really happy his big sib sees him as a good person), but when Kenji says " You're a good person, Silver", Silver shouts " Fuck you, go to hell!!!" ( he's blushing profusely).
Aiko just flips him off, then Silver does the same ( it's their way of showing affection).

Kenji and Aiko were so annoying to Silver ( and still are lol) but Kenji especially was annoyed with how much the guy believed in Silver. It was infuriating. At least Aiko was clear with her wariness of Silver, even after he grew throughout his journey. But Kenji? He just believed in the good that Silver had, not once thinking that Silver would ever go back to his old ways, and become a worse version of himself. Silver could threaten Kenji with death and Kenji would just smile at him and go " No you won't" , and resume their usual banter as if it was nothing. It was so annoying to see the guy have so much faith in him. Whenever Silver asked Kenji why, Kenji would just shrug and say " Just a hunch," with a knowing look in his eye. Mother fucker.

Legendverse! Silver upon ye.
I might change the undershirt but yeah. Also probably add ear piercings ( trying to not make Gladion and Silver too similar in design. Obviously they aren't but the little details will trip me up ).
And of course I kept the glasses, I don't know why I just like them.

Even when Silver knows what has happened to Kenji, he still feels the sting of betrayal. Like it just screams to him that Kenji doesn't trust him, after everything they've been through.
He starts thinking about his relationship with Kenji over the years. How things always seem to revolve around him. Kenji Kenji Kenji. Silver hates how he let Kenji become a source of pain for him. He should have just ignored all of Kenji's attempts at friendship and be on his way. He'd rather be alone than heartbroken.
....
He doesn't mean that. Without Kenji, or Aiko or Beryl, Silver would have been miserable. He knew that. He is forever grateful for them being in his life. It just hurts. It kinda reminds him about how Giovanni walked out on him, without a real explanation. Though it somehow feels worse? He doesn't know. He hates not knowing. He hates it.

Hibiscus ( Silver's Meganuim) deserves to be a tiny bit of a sadist. The type to not heal you and watch you slowly die because you pissed her off. She's still pretty sweet.....just don't piss her off.
