okay okay okay okay- brainworm time.
my aj fan au project thing shenanigans. it's called Legends of Jamaa so imma tag any posts about it as that.
it has a few different things going on in it cause the original idea is "if i could be in control of updating animal jam classic, what direction would i take it in". so this concept has four types of content in it: game mechanics, item/animal/den ideas, preexisting visual altercations, and Lore™.
the items/animal/den, game mechanics, and preexisting visual things ain't nearly as interesting as the lore due to i'm too lazy to draw literally any of it, where as you don't need to draw the lore for it to come across right. i might post about them a little bit, but the most of what i'm gonna share here is the Lore™ i'm playing with
having said that, the lore can be divided into two subcategories-
World: the actual mechanics of the world, the hierarchy of the residence of Jamaa, the folklore and history, and various adventure stuff Characters: the NPCS, both preexisting and ones i made up myself, who play roles in the over aching story i'm building
there is some retconed canon stuff in both of these cause i thought it was stupid the way it was dealt with in canon, so heads up on that. and just as well, some stuff i do is a bit darker than canon due to my desire to make the lore more mature and story driven
soooo- if anyone wants to send me asks about this- please do, i will ramble
spspspsps- hey, bonus- i redrew the map cause i wanted something easier for me to add new lands onto, which i do intend on doing once i figure out what they look like
you can kinda see where the lands are intended to be on the map due to how i drew this gdshsdgnsfjs
the ui part was jsut for fun, mostly just to see if i could

WHAT THE HELL GABE'S AJ AU / Epilogue 💫
🖋️ NOTES:
So erm. Hey jamblr. Here's that au I promised you. It is lacking a name. This is currently a huge HUGE HUGE wip but what I will say is i have had this headworld and story in my brain for a pretty scary amount of time. Now I am making the mature decision and taking a step from imagining animatics in my head to making an actual story!! As of right now, I have very intense artblock, so I'm bringing it upon myself to write for this AU instead!!
This was inspired by probably a lot of stuff, notably FOTS by Greeky and a whole bunch of AJ headcanons I have mashed together into a slightly salty stew.
⚠️ WARNINGS:
An insatiable amount of cringe
The very original idea of an apocalypse AU
Autism
Greely says a bad word and instantly gets sent to the seventh circle of hell
Enjoy jamblr. You stinky stinky individuals
---------------------------------------------
A delicate feather was carried by the wind from its birthplace and took time to settle as the wrath of the winds sailed it about the sky endlessly. This delicate feather- she, a delicate feather, had lesser expertise with a realm such as this. Despite never having seen it, she had heard innumerable myths and legends about it and had researched Jamaa throughout the ages. As she landed amidst the chaos and apocalypse, she spread the scrolls of her map with two eager wings. She then, excited as can be, soared up and above the lands to look down on it, comparing it to the papyrus in her grasp. Apart from some tiny geographic inaccuracies, she was mostly right about what she thought Jamaa would resemble. Her sole hyperfocus for as long as she had been living was right here in front of her. Her map and other tools of the trade were no longer necessary.
She went by the name Io'lani, and if she had friends, they would undoubtedly refer to her as Lani, but since she didn't, that was that. Her name meant "royal hawk", although she was neither royal nor a hawk. She had been around a very long time but mostly in captivity; her living quarters resided in some sort of third-dimensional space as she watched the centuries go by. Originally, she was created to be a faux offspring for the two guardian spirits to embrace and love as their own, the way parents would cherish a newborn babe, but their heavenly duties consistently got in the way of that. She wasn't necessarily forgotten, neglected, or abused- but her existence was merely an afterthought for the Sky Mother Mira, and barely a thought at all for the (mostly) unaware Zios.
Promptly, as a being of balance, and the product of the two holy deities that brought life to Jamaa, Io'lani's emergence in a time of destruction and despair was foretold in literature and books written by the most fanatical of scholars and theorists.
Io'lani emerged, of course. I just described her descent to you. The problem was that she wasn't quite sure what she was meant to do.
Her eyes darted as she stared at the gloomy surroundings. Buildings once bursting with life had been knocked down and torn apart for materials by scavenging jammers who were desperate to survive. The greenery and plants were now wilted and desaturated. The rivers, now a goopy inkwell. Once there were animals united by friendship, now wicked phantoms united by their desire to destroy and multiply. The hiss of black smoke filled Io'lani's lungs and she coughed, covering her beak with the edges of her mask.
This is not how Jamaa was supposed to be. Where were the cheers and laughter of water slides, movie theatres, and young mammals venturing out into the wild? Where was the happy haven that she had been assured existed? As she floated and landed at different locations, pointing to her whereabouts on the map, she analyzed her positioning with precise craftsmanship.
Crystal Sands' warm, golden shoreline had vanished and been replaced with a gritty, black, and grey substance that was scorching to the touch. Jamaa Township's characteristic swirling pavement was no longer present; instead, a sizable crevice divided the town's center in half. Phantoms emerged from these recesses, spreading their purple muck and cackling maliciously as they advanced to wilt the fauna.
Jamaa was not intended to be like this. Io'lani quietly descended and fell to her knees in front of a violet flag that had been suspended from the arcade's former roof. It had been shredded at the ends, painted with a sinister expression, and pasted all over the lifeless hamlet. The photograph was of the Phantom Queen, or PQ as she liked to be addressed by her subjects, and a message was scrawled in goopy black ink over her portrait.
And this was everywhere, mind you. The phantom propaganda was affixed to masonry and stone throughout the featureless plains. The Queen's vile grin was still present, along with the same stern call to repent. Io'lani scurried desperately and frantically, zipping to each of the wrecked locals on her map and urgently hoping to find at least someplace not entirely defunct. The statue of Zios was gone completely, presumably taken as a trophy by the Queen herself.
She slid against a jagged rock in Balloosh, the place least subject to destruction and where she had initially started her quest. To her knowledge, there was a power within the marsh- a strong power. She could feel the sheer electric of protection in her bones, the blazing blue light shimmering in her peripherals.
She wept silently, her tears ink-black and resembling the slime of the phantoms. Her tears flowed into her wings, and as she trembled and wept, her voice had a pitiful catching. Any sign of goodwill was absent. What's more, a sheer lack of both guardian spirits, ironically not doing a very good job at guarding or keeping up spirits. There was no point in visiting the place she had wanted to for epochs when it was torn and forgotten. No alphas to save the day, except the elder wolf sitting across from her, giving her a sympathetic glare.
Wait.
As she made touch with the blue-gray canine, she gasped and the emerald glint in her eyes resurfaced. Her thoughts searched for why he was so familiar to her until she caught on. This was Greely, first name unknown, the alpha philosopher with an interest in all things macabre. Except it wasn't quite Greely, for this wolf was bruised and had an ear torn, his golden bejeweled accessories cracked and corroded in ash. He looked older than what Io'lani had seen of him in stories, and less well-kept. He had a husky growl in his voice, reaching out an injured paw towards the skittish heron.
"I was hoping I'd... end up stumbling into you." He groaned.
"Do you know me?" Io'lani replied, her voice just above a whisper.
Greely bared his teeth, before turning his head and looking to the side. "I have... heard such things about you. You're the one who's meant to make this hell disappear. Are you deliberately wasting time here?"
Io'lani frowned as Greely raised his voice to her, the confusion and anxiety settling in her stomach. Greely's gaze pierced right through her and was even more intimidating than she had anticipated. Ultimately, she spoke up, clearing her throat and gripping her trusty map defensively in one wing.
"I don't know what exactly I'm meant to do."
Greely paused.
"Shit."

#So erm jamblyboos what did you think#Admittedly this is not the first time I have written for the AU but right now I am attempting to#Make it work per se#It revolves around the BANE OF MY EXISTENCE aka io'lani#but uhhh ideas criticism appreciation etc is very much encouraged!!#also if you like this feel free to drop me asks!! im currently trying to worldbuild and asking me questions would be so helpful#ALSO SUGGEST NAMES FOR THIS TOO!!! Afrikans must make a serious decision about the LBGT community’s ongoing agenda of influencing the next generation Afrikans to think entirely differently about sexuality. In every continent where the European seeks to gain or remain the driving force of cultural and moral degradation, which they deem to be civilized behavior. Who can deny that agenda perpetrated against Afrikan men, women, and children is anything but 1000% complete warfare?
Not to mention, what would AmeriKKKa be without balancing its commitment to eliminating us? I am witnessing the same playbook used by the elite Zionist media of Hollywood again and again! If they cannot mislead our young Afrikan men and women to be gay, then they will resort to glorying urban street legends who make incarceration, drugs, womanizing, fast money, genocide, cat and mouse games with law enforcement, and other blemishes that hide the absolute truth about street life!
Afrikan people must remain true to their innate morality and understand that “rainbows” are natural. Still, those who proudly wave rainbow flags 🏳️🌈 are not natural to the order of the Universe. The natural order of life requires that Afrikan heterosexuals, too, remain obedient to nature.
I commend every Afrikan nation that condemns and punishes those found guilty of such decadence with an iron fist! WE MUST PUSH FOR MILITANCY IN ALL WE DO! Even brushing your teeth should be a revolutionary act! Every breath you take should be for the preservation of the Afrikan family, which is OUR SURVIVAL!

Quick introduction to Bantu languages
just a quick selection of videos/sources for people who don’t know much about the Bantu languages of Africa, but are curious to learn more. note that many languages on the continent are spoken across borders in multiple countries, nevertheless I’ve added flag emoji to give an idea of where they’re spoken or the dialect being referenced
1) ORIGINS
the “Proto-Bantu” language was likely spoken in the area around Nigeria/Cameroon. then, between 3000BCE-1000BCE the Bantu peoples migrated into much of the African continent, reaching South Africa (Natal) in around 500CE.
the Bantu languages are represented by the pink area on the map below. they’re (distantly) related to the other Niger-Congo languages (like Mandé, Dogon, Yorùbá, &c.), but are not related to the languages spoken in the blank parts of Africa. some famous Bantu languages include : Swahili 🇹🇿, Zulu 🇿🇦, Xhosa 🇿🇦, Shona 🇿🇼, Lingala 🇨🇩, Kikongo 🇨🇬. artistically, the Lega 🇨🇩, Chokwe 🇦🇴 and Fang 🇬🇶 are well-known internationally for their masks, the Makonde 🇲🇿, Lozi 🇿🇲 and Nyakyusa 🇲🇼 for their pottery, and the Ndebele 🇿🇦 for their beadwork and colourful houses
2) LINGUISTIC FEATURES
Bantu languages are generally agglutinating, and feature extensive noun-class (≈gender) systems. See the videos below for further demonstrations/ explanations of this.
despite the stereotype about “African languages”, Bantu languages do not normally have click sounds. the exceptions are Xhosa, Zulu 🇿🇦 and Sotho 🇱🇸, which gained click phonemes by coming into contact with Khoe and San languages in southern Africa
the “whistled” consonants in Shona 🇿🇼 and Tsonga 🇲🇿 are also really interesting : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGAz166-NjQ (sorry I can’t seem to add another video)
3) QUICK INTRO — by Tim Doner (4 mins), comparing Swahili 🇹🇿, Kinyarwanda 🇷🇼 and Xhosa 🇿🇦
youtube
(towards the end Tim makes a small typo in the Xhosa gloss. he breaks it down as *N—diya... instead of Ndi—ya..., but his point is still correct though)
4) SWAHILI 🇹🇿🇰🇪 — Grammar overview by Langfocus (13 mins)
youtube
5) LINGALA 🇨🇩🇨🇬 — Pronoun overview by Treceigh (4:30 mins)
notice how in the example sentences, Lingala seems to follow a similar pattern to Swahili and the other languages discussed in Tim and Paul’s videos. even though here, each particle is written separate from the verb root
youtube
6) QONGQOTHWANE “THE CLICK SONG” — performed by Miriam Makeba (Xhosa 🇿🇦)
youtube
7) DISCO MATANGA (YAMBAKHANA) — Sauti Sol ft. Sho Madjozi (Luhya 🇰🇪, Swahili 🇹🇿 and Tsonga 🇿🇦)
youtube
7) ONLINE COURSES
7.1) XHOSA ON MEMRISE
https://www.memrise.com/course/1572/xhosa-an-intro/
This course is very well structured. on the desktop version of Memrise, every lesson is preceded by a short grammar explanation, which gives a really nice sense of how the language works. (on the Memrise app you can only do the vocab/flashcards)
7.2) SWAHILI ON DUOLINGO
https://www.duolingo.com/enroll/sw/en/Learn-Swahili
8) SEE ALSO
The languages of South Africa 🇿🇦
Overview of Tshivenḓa phonology 🇿🇦
Siswati: Linguistic Diversity Challenge 🇸🇿 by @languagessi
Xhosa phrases for summer 🇿🇦
Sesotho vegetarian vocab 🇱🇸 🇿🇦
9) MORE MUSIC
Miriam Makeba (above), Oliver Mtukudzi and Papa Wembo (below) are three of the Legends of African music
uMama — Sjava (Zulu 🇿🇦)
Vul’indlela — Brenda Fassie, performed by Siki Jo-An (Zulu 🇿🇦)
[yt] Jamaa — Rita Ange (Kinyarwanda 🇷🇼)
[yt] Analengo — Papa Wembo (Lingala 🇨🇩)
[yt] Ngaibake — Freeman (Shona 🇿🇼)
[yt] Neria — Oliver Mtukudzi (Shona 🇿🇼)
[yt] John Cena — Sho Madjozi (Swahili 🇹🇿)
[yt] Dumi hi phone — Sho Madjozi (Tsonga 🇿🇦)
Ngeke balunge — Mafikizolo (Xhosa 🇿🇦)

Khali Cartel 3 lyrics - Khaligraph Jones
Okay We good? We ready? We can start? Thank you so much...
First I'd like to thank everybody For showing up for this session Your honor, these are the rappers The masses been requestin' Ladies and gentlemen, it's so important that you follow I'm your attorney but just address me as Mr. Omollo
And now your Honor We're gon' get straight to the case And we'll address these people Who will insult you straight to your face When these people working hard They busy taking the cake Had the masses saying Artists ain't got no paper to chase
And what a shame When they constantly building their brands And all the dope music that they be giving their fans They got some shit to say So kindly let's give them a chance First rapper, kindly make your way up to the stand
What's your name? What you do?
KHALI CARTEL 3 Lyrics - Bey T
Bey T, I'm the truth And do you swear to speak the truth? I just said I am the truth Everything I ever wanted when I'm spitting in a booth I guess that's 'cause it's just in me When I flow I see the proof Brody told me greenlight
Now it's go I can't stop I be praying on a daily Getting closer to the top They appearing to be real Kinda something like a prop Hating when I'm doing better Kinda something like a opp
Got the city on my shoulders And the love now I receive But my socials aren't up So see the media they deceive And we got our local talent But that's not what they pursue 'Cause there really is no limit Told my people to believe
Music seemed like real shit We just tryna make it out Even started up a movement And they tried to make it clout Called the puppet out on site She know what I'm talking 'bout But the truth will always shine And in God I never doubt
Hard work beats talent But with me, it's double trouble And I got alot to say And they can't stop it with a muzzle Watch when people hear my music And they dig it like a shovel Mama said just let it be And put the focus on the hustle
Man I'm rising from the dirt Ten toes on the ground Real music knows no language I'ma do it with my sound 254, to the world, when I look who I'm around I've been queening in my city It's ' bout time I take the crown, uh
Look back at how far I've come and it's amazing Loving through the process In the race but I'm not racing Man I am the wave 'Cause when they see me they are waving They want to me blow but wanna stay so I be spacing I don't have the answers Know who does so I be praying
Made it through the rough And now I'm shining when it's raining This is just the warmup But we winning through our training Bey T got the fire 'bout to blow up Super Saiyan
Rising with the sun, you gon' see me at your window Naenda juu hoe, if you ain't getting on my lingo Getting to the chips I'm not talking bout a Pringle Kenya dropped some heat, I ain't talking about a single
Khali Cartel 3 Khaligraph Jones
Thank you so much for that I'm just hoping they got the info Bey T girl, you're the future Why they act like they ain't know But these greedy ma'fuckers Tryna take what you came for Your Honor, tell me if you ain't feeling what she sayin', oh
Aye, when will you people ever see the truth? The evidence is overwhelming yet you need the proof Leo me ndio lawyer so mtaniskiza tu Nimechoka hata na ngoso so kindly bring Breeder through
KHALI CARTEL 3 Lyrics - Breeder
First off niko njaa ningekuwa refa si ningemeza whistle Jiulize utanitambua lini, au unangoja yangu kifo? Nilizaliwa nikiwa Pro mi ni mnoma by default Na na desire kuwa legend ni go down ka icon Niko kwa track na Khali, buda hii ni nini Ka si dream come true

Halafu after hell si ni heaven, paradise ndio inaningoja But, pressure ya kuomoka ndio imenikalia ka sofa Industry, ngori yaani ku manoeuvre si ni struggle Interviews, me siko booked, kama laibu haina vitabu Lakini story ni ile ile huwezi winda, subiri mzoga So nikajitupa kwa uwanjo na nawatesa bila kocha Si ni TK, ndo kikosi yangu na ni wicked Na play role mbili bado attacker halafu defense
Mi huwapea maneno za busara Tangu ni christen bado na glisten Nabii hawezi pendwa mahali anatoka na hiyo ni mistake Si walifunga milango so tuna knock doors off their hinges Na nina ugonjwa haina tiba na hiyo ugonjwa inaitwa realness

The return of blaxploitation: why the time is right to bring back Shaft and Foxy Brown
The 70 s genre is set to dominate big screens again with a slew of remakes and reboots. But where will these cinemas fit in contemporary America?
If it’s true that the past is prologue, then it’s also fair to say that we live now in an age of remix, remakes and reboots. Everything old is new again in this world of popular culture and social media, where the lines between past and existing are constantly blurred if not altogether invisible. On Instagram, we celebrate Throwback Thursdays while the daily drama that comes out of the White House often attains it seem as though we are literally being thrown backwards into a past that many naively thought was long gone or perhaps never existed.
Over the past time there have been several bulletins about new cinema and television services and facilities projects in the works that come from the age in the 1970 s known as blaxploitation. Remakes or reboots have been announced for Shaft at New Line, Super Fly at Sony, Cleopatra Jones at Warners, and Foxy Brown on Hulu, while new Taraji P Henson activity thriller Proud Mary appears to have been influenced by the genre as well.
Why so much contemporary interest in a motion from so long ago? The answers lie in several unexpected similarities that have emerged between this previous period and our present moment.
If we rewind to the late 60 s and early 70 s, we find traditional Hollywood studios were is difficult to connect. With black activists, Vietnam, campus protests and the counterculture predominating the conversation in Richard Nixon’s ” law and order ” America, watching the nightly news often seemed more compelling than attaches great importance to anything that might have been playing at the local movie theatre.
Hollywood, like nature, abhors a vacuum, so this is where blaxploitation discovered its lane. The emergence of cinemas such as Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song, Shaft, Super Fly, Cleopatra Jones, The Mack, Blacula, The Legend of Nigger Charley, Trouble Man and Coffy, all liberated between 1971 and 1973, offered black audiences characters, topics, music and style that was now consistent with the cultural moment off-screen. The chill, sexual, powerful, awareness, irreverent , nonchalant, quick-witted demeanor of these new ultra-hip films spoke to these audiences in a language that they both understood and enjoyed. At the same time, these low-budget productions produced high profit margins for the struggling studios and for a hour urban audiences of colouring and studio suits were pleased with the results.

In terms of scoundrels, blaxploitation films often featured resolutely evil racist white parodies, along with comically duplicitous black flatterers eager to sell out the race for their own personal gain. It was the job of the film’s protagonist to disclose and eliminate these figures who sought to destroy the community. Thus, blaxploitation movies had both a moral the objectives and a political mandate. It was in this spirit that audiences espoused these films as opportunities to “talk back”, to “stick it to the man”, while legislating righteous vengeance and speaking truth to power in dialogue that might now sound like a hip-hop diss way. These films were cathartic, funny and uniquely virtuoso at capturing the culture zeitgeist in a period of a newly free appreciation of black identity.
Before long, though, the haters would emerge, to rain criticism, disdain and distrust upon the cinematic parade constructing its behavior through the movie houses of black America. The actual term “blaxploitation” emerged as black critics of the cinemas suggested that these intoxicating images were like a racial sugar high, getting black audiences all hopped up on what the Last Poets referred to simply as” party and bullshit “. Further, even though these cinemas featured black casts and revolved around themes that resonated with black audiences, many of the creative personnel behind these cinemas were overwhelmingly white. In time, the phrase” black exploitation” became one word, “blaxploitation”, and before long this was the commonly accepted route to describe a range of films from a variety of different genres that were being lumped together under a moniker that constructed blackness the central component.

By the late 70 s though, as the dawn of Ronald Reagan’s original Make America Great Again era loomed on the horizon, blaxploitation was in wane. The studios had attained their money and moved on. There was Richard Pryor, of course, who had become a movie star, and the occasional blaxploitation movie such as Jamaa Fanaka’s Penitentiary in 1979, but in general black images on screen had gone from being abundant to virtually invisible.
Though Blaxploitation has always had its critics, the period still represents one of the most maintained periods of cinema featuring black themes and black performers of any in film history. blaxploitation is like a cultural warehouse, a sample factory, and a repository for reboots all rolled into one.
Yet the 1970 s were a long time ago, so how do these films remain relevant today? Upon closer inspection, one might ask, is this present moment actually that different from the 1970 s? In some styles the answer is yes, but in others it is suggested that what goes around was coming.
Consider the varied images of demonstration and resist that have emerged throughout the culture that were first spotted during the second term of Barack Obama, but have grown substantially since. The contested image of Colin Kaepernick and other NFL players, so-called ” sons of bitches “, taking a knee during the national anthem that remind us of John Carlos and Tommie Smith at the Mexico City Olympics. The clenched black fist once raised by Carlos and Smith and forever associated with the Black Panthers is now to so ubiquitous that it is even available as a dark-skinned emoji on your phone.
Obama’s dignified approach to the US presidency elicits the cinematic image of the iconic Sidney Poitier, the most popular actor in the country before the dawning of the blaxploitation era. Dignity, nonetheless, has been replaced by a kind of cultural barbarism wherein coded political slogans, such as Nixon’s ” silent majority” and “law and order”, have been appropriated and applied to the present as though we were stuck in a time warp from 45 years ago. Further to the point, current investigations conducted by Russian involvement in the 2016 general elections are now compared with Watergate on an almost daily basis.
youtube
But perhaps what is most analogous between the early 70 s and the present is the way in which blaxploitation films then were like the urban precursor to superhero movies today. Though the latter are set in an urban surrounding represents an real, the universe of these films was an especially fictional scenery.
The characters were cool, confident, physically dominant and defiantly anti-establishment, possessing “superpowers” often directly connected to their blackness, which allowed them to see through the bullshit of American life, while simultaneously use everything available to them in waging conflict against the evils of white dominance. Their flashy Eleganza and Flagg Brothers-inspired attires and extravagantly tricked-out autoes could certainly be called futuristic for that time. And the moral battles of good versus evil, with a distinct racial twisting in the first decade in accordance with the civil right movement, dedicated blaxploitation a meaningful purpose beyond “whats being” otherwise an elaborated though enjoyable fiction. Black audiences in the 1970 s awaited the next empowered blaxploitation movie the lane that contemporary audiences now anticipate the freeing of Black Panther. The trailer for this month’s Proud Mary looks as though it is a mash-up of both blaxploitation and superhero films.
Yet despite the deep affection that many have for blaxploitation, these movies were not regarded as” great cinema “. The the limit of what were often low-budget guerrilla-style cinemas were visible to audiences even back in the 1970 s. The appearance of boom mics on screen or people listing their zodiac signs next to their name in the credits were par for such courses. Audiences espoused them not in spite of this, but often because of it.
Part of the pleasure of watching these cinemas lies in the fact that you were watching something raw, unpolished, unsophisticated and, in many cases, unfinished. But that’s what stimulated it cool, this sense that what Hollywood deemed junk, black culture deemed wealth. It was not the power of Hollywood that stimulated blaxploitation significant, it was the power of the audience, the power of the people that transformed the genre into a culture force that continues to influence and inspire.
Contemporary film-makers now have the opportunity to create better movies than those that inspired them. If contemporary audiences respond to these new movies with the same enthusiasm that audiences is a response to blaxploitation back in the 70 s, then this is an indication an especially triumphant return.

Animal Jam - The Adventure Storyline
With the newest addition of “Storming the Fortress” the storyline of the adventures is complete. I have to say that it was one of the most stressful adventures that I have ever done, by myself, with all the Phantom Lookouts, Watchers, Sprouters, and the new addition of Spitters along with all the levers that need to be turned and electrical shocking squares. I found myself actually being terrified by all the phantoms.
The storyline of these adventures I found very fun and made Animal Jam actually kinda scary. I loved how we were introduced by Liza and brought along by her and the rest of the alphas. Before, the Alphas seemed more like legend rather than an actual guardian of Jamaa. I loved meeting the Alphas and gushing over their design. However, I always find it annoying with the lack of finding new land. The idea of the Alphas clearing out lands for Jammers is cool, and the many Jammers who enjoy the adventures could help before a land comes out. But this is about the storyline so let’s get back to that.
The storyline of the adventures is like a book. Open and shut, I feel like it’s good for the demographic, eight to twelve year-olds, and it’s easy to understand. I find that the easy to understand reading helps calm the mind yet giving a sense of urgency as you go along. I like how the adventures are solid and straightforward. That’s all I have to say.

The Relativity and Connections between Jamaasian Lore and Mirabai
WARNING! ⚠️ Very religious themes. I apologise if I have any incorrect or outdated information, it's very risky writing about something surrounding a certain religion when in fact.. I'm an atheist.
The lore of Jamaa has always been a really tricky and fairly eerie topic to cover. It has themes from all sorts of different cultures and despite the main tale being retold, changed and edited one thousand times, the information we receive is clear about who the certain deities and characters are and what their roles to play give.
Today, we're looking more on the more eerie side of Animal Jam- The relationship between Mira and Zios. Surprisingly, we know more about our enemies the phantoms than we do the entities we're serving. Alot has been told about Mira, but on the other hand, not much information has been provided about Zios and his identity making him more or less a very suspicious character to take heed of. That's why there are so many theories regarding him specifically; the most we know is that...
●He is the spiritual highest point of the Jamaa heiarchy, having created Mira and setting the stars and planets in motion
●He is often depicted as a bodyless golden mask surrounded by intricate patterns and grooves
●He was the lover of Mira
●He dissappeared at some point in time and never came back.
To jog your memory, I'm going to be basing this theory more on the Old Jamaasian Lore. Interestingly, the lore was changed to make it appealing to a younger audience, but in the old lore we get a stronger sense of emotion and alot more information about the guardian spirits of Jamaa.
Zios is practically a God. He sets several plants, stars and seas in motion. Eventually he gets lonely and gives life to a deity said to be the perfect incarnation of humble beauty; a graceful grey heron named Mira. Mira and Zios get on well together and she often tells him how talented and artistic he is.
Eventually, Zios falls for her, and creates a beautiful land for he and Mira to share; Jamaa- as a sign of his love.
Mira is ecstatic and suggests and creates the idea of giving live to mortal inhabitants to the land- us, the animals. However, Zios gets a little snappy at Mira for that. He meant for this place to share just between the two and for nobody else to interfere.
He then snaps at Mira for creating the Animals and the two fall into a fearsome and emotional argument. Mira's tears then, without her knowing, come into accidental contact with the mortal world. Since she is an omniscient deity, mixing such power with normal life would end in ruin- Thus creating the phantoms.
Here's the catch. Mira and Zios are too wrapped up in their argument to notice the phantoms attacking Jamaa. Since the phantoms were created by Mira, they would only obey her. That is why they are after Zios, to avenge Mira. Also a case why we never see the phantoms target Mira specifically.
Then, they notice the peril Jamaa is in and, still angry at eachother, select the powerful and strong remaining animals in their selective tribes as Alphas to defend.
Shortly after, Zios goes missing. We're told the phantoms took him through the phantom portal never to be seen again. However, there is alot of evidence to suggest he fell victim to the phantoms and gave in to their side, furthermore taking control of the Phantom Empire. That may be why, despite their goal being reached, they continue to harass and attack the alphas, Jamaa, and by extent, Mira.
From then, the Alphas succeed, and all is well. Zios, however, is never heard of again.
Despite their argument, Mira is eternally upset. That is why phantoms keep producing, due to her tears. Since Zios left angry at Mira, it may be an extra that she thinks Zios left hating her.
And... That is what is inferred from the old lore. The new lore consists of less knowledge about Mira and Zios, but more information about the Alphas and of course the animal heartstones.
Now, here is the thing. The tale of Jamaa is very familiar sounding to some people. Zios is often seen as omnipotent and very powerful. He's often seen as similar to several different gods in mythology..
●Zeus, the Greek god of sky and thunder (This one is self explanatory, even their names are similar: however I've seen this one cause a bit of controversy as this is comparing Zios to a technically VERY problematic god.. Also, Mira sounds alot like Hera!)
●Viracocha, the great creator deity in the pre-Inca and Inca mythology in the Andes region of South America. He's mainly mentioned in incan and mesopotamian mythology as the high creator god (and this one shares more similarities than you may think!) They both had lovers, both dissappeared after creating the world, both had similar powers (examples of heliokenesis) and they actually look REALLY similar, most likely Zios' design being based off of Viracocha's golden armor. Viracocha pictured below!
●And the last one... Krishna. An important religious figure in Hinduism and the final reincarnation/eighth avatar of Vishnu.
And that last one is what I'm planning to talk about today!
The perhaps most important part of this theory is Mirabai. Mirabai, often called Meera or Mira, was a 16th-century Hindu mystic poet and devotee of Krishna. She was known for her elegant beauty and poetry, as well as her eternal devotation to Krishna.
Meera pictured below as well as a figure of Krishna in the distance.
Surprsingly, we have our own Mira too. And if we're comparing Zios to Krishna, this relationship makes alot of sense. Meera was in love with Krishna, and Mira was in love with Zios. "In her last years, Meera lived in Dwarka or Vrindavan, where legends state she miraculously disappeared by merging into an idol of Krishna in 1547. While miracles are contested by scholars for the lack of historical evidence, it is widely acknowledged that Meera dedicated her life to Lord Krishna, composing songs of devotion and was one of the most important poet-saint of the Bhakti movement period." That paragraph was taken from Meera's Wikipedia entry, and relates alot to the story of Mira and Zios. Its said that Meera one day miraculously dissappeared just like Zios did and they only things she left behind were her poems, music, and of course, her devotion and husband-like considered relationship between her and Krishna.
Krishna pictured below.
Most of Meera's poems are dedicated to God in the form of Krishna, calling him the Dark One or the Mountain Lifter. "Some Meera songs include Radha, the lover of Krishna, and her jealousy and hatred for them. All her poems have philosophical connotations, mainly centered around Krishna."
The "Dark One" and "Mountain Lifter" terms are certaintly strange. Why would somebody refer to a "Dark One" in such a loving term?
Lets not forget the example of Zios not only representing the light in most cases, but spiritually, representing the dark. There's alot of evidence to actually suggest instead of the common thought that Zios represents the Sun and Mira the Moon, it may actually be the vice versa in a yin yang sort of way. Light and Dark cannot coexist without eachother and Zios and Mira are a great example of that.
I may explain the Zios is the moon thing a different time but you're going to have to roll with me here on this one... Zios is a perfect representation of the dark. Dark gives space and life to the light, but of course light always gives life to the dark.
Also, "Mountain-Bearer"... Not much to say here. Quite literally what Zios did to create Jamaa. "In her poems, Krishna is a yogi and lover, and she herself is a yogini ready to take her place by his side into a spiritual marital bliss. Meera's style combines impassioned mood, defiance, longing, anticipation, joy and ecstasy of union, always centred on Krishna."
Let's take a look at perhaps the most well known poem by Meera... And perhaps the one that relates the most to Jamaasian Lore. I am aware Julian2 has covered this in a video before, but here im going to take a proper analysis.
My Dark One has gone to an alien land. He has left me behind, he's never returned, he's never sent me a single word. So I've stripped off my ornaments, jewels and adornments, cut my hair from my head. And put on holy garments, all on his account, seeking him in all four directions. Mira: unless she meets the Dark One, her Lord, she doesn't even want to live.
— Mira Bai, Translated by John Stratton Hawley
Alot to process here. Let's see what we can compare.
●"My Dark One has gone to an Alien Land"- Zios= Krishna: has gone to the realm of the phantoms/alien land
●"He's left me behind, he's never returned, he's never sent me a single word"- Exactly what Zios did. Never responded to Mira and didn't speak to her again after his dissappearance.
●"So I've stripped off my ornaments, jewels and adornments, cut my hair from my head"- Julian2 suggested this may be about Peck running away but this has been outdated. This could possibly refer to the "jewels and adornments" being the Alpha stones as Mira gives them away.
●"And put on holy garments, all on his account, seeking him in all four directions."- This refers to Mira yet again giving the alphas their Alpha Stones and after that she prepares to go out and find Zios.
●"Meera: unless she meets the Dark One, her Lord, she doesn't even want to live."- Unless Mira doesn't meet her Dark One- in this case, Zios-she doesn't feel the will to live, referencing her sorrow and despair without him.
I'm not sure about you, but I'm very convinced AJHQ may have based their lore on this poem specifically.
There is another poem that can relate to the legend of Jamaa, but there's not much to infer. I'm not going to do a thorough line by line analysis, but hopefully looking back on the analysis I just did you can atleast gather some stuff.
After making me fall for you so hard, where are you going? Until the day I see you, no repose: my life, like a fish washed on shore, flails in agony. For your sake I'll make myself a yogini, I'll hurl myself to death on the saw of Kashi. Mira's Lord is the clever Mountain Lifter, and I am his, a slave to his lotus feet.
"Meera speaks of a personal relationship with Krishna as her lover, lord and mountain lifter. (Sanson Ki Mala Pe Simru Main Pi Ka Naam) is written by Meera Bai Shows her dedication towards Lord Krishna. The characteristic of her poetry is complete surrender." -Quote from Wikipedia
The song of Sanson Ki Mala Pe Simru Main Pi Ka Naam is an interesting one-referring to her "beading the name of her beloved on the garland of my breaths". Interestingly, this song refers to Krishna as a Cuckoo Bird- A little bit of a crack theory, but this may suggest Zios could actually be the same behind that mask of his?
Examples of this bird-referring lyric are this quote from that same song:
"He is a melodious bird
He is a magnificent man
This foolish girl has taken
The beloved’s heart as the Lord"
I will link the full song plus English translation below!
https://www.google.com/amp/s/ekta25.wordpress.com/2011/06/23/sanson-ki-mala-pe-simroon-main-pi-ka-naam-on-the-garland-of-my-breaths-i-have-bejewelled-my-beloveds-name/amp/
Intresting... Perhaps Zios IS some sort of bird!
In conclusion, Mirabai's poetry, devotion and songs have alot of connections to Jamaasian Lore! I find this interesting, but this did help us gather quite a bit of information!
