I was heading to an event in Williamsburg, when I came across this stubborn rose — perhaps the last of the season — stretching out towards some scaffolding. A small moment of beauty in a very busy day, indeed.

Ready willing and able is a program that houses its employees , workers , that's right I said they house their workers , their workers are mainly men that are set out in teams of 7 on 9 am - 5 pm shifts the 10 am - 6 pm shift and the 11 am - 7 pm shifts to clean the streets from litter and debris all through New York City . Well mainly they only have two offices in Brooklyn and Manhattan New York City and have contracts to clean areas in Brooklyn considered commercial properties and some not so commercial areas and then in Manhattan they have contracts for areas like Madison Avenue , 5th Avenue , Park Avenue , York Avenue , 3rd Avenue , and well off and upscale neighborhoods . In the housing facility where the workers reside their are 3 course meals provided for free to the public as well as the people that work there this program also have employment for other people and they are currently and always employing new people . The food is thoroughly cooked and good nutritious meals and served to the people that work their and in the surrounding neighborhoods some people call it home away from home or for some others a safe place to eat and enjoy some television away from danger and idleness .

This proposal is for their to be an expansion of that program the doe fund ready , willing and able program to new facilities in new neighborhoods and boroughs Staten Island , The Bronx and Queens to better clean the streets of New York City , making New York's inner city a safe place to visit and clean and beautiful . As you know I myself worked in the ready willing and able program years ago and personally by myself cleaned up Fox square in Brooklyn New York City the Downtown Brooklyn Neighborhood In Brooklyn New York . That are for my understanding was and had been filled with garbage debris for years and decades and decades until I got there with the program the Doe fund Ready , Willing and Able day program I cleaned up that part of the city in the infamous Brooklyn New York not too far from the Barclay center . Now today Fox Square is a place where people that work in that environment can go and sit and enjoy their lunch and chat with their friends and family . It is a safe and clean walkthrough and as of now ready , willing and able now have the contract to clean Fox Square daily because of my personal muscle work on that neighborhood in Brooklyn New York . Go Green and protect and preserve your environment and neighborhood .

The vision for New York City it is to turn it into the great city that it once was when the immigrants arrived here from Ireland , Europe , Germany , Scotland , Italy and Israel , all of those people migrated from their home country and packed the slums in New York City and then in progression those communities rose to power through their hard work and genius and they took care of their communities because they cared about their neighborhoods . I'm saying to you that ready willing and able is them guys and women the best crew of workers and clean up crew that New York has got the best gentlemen and women you could ever meet they want to make a difference and to keep their neighborhoods clean in the Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhoods , Brownsville neighborhoods in Brooklyn New York City , East New York area , Queens bridge , Ravenswood and Lefrak City in Queens New York City even the Saint Nicholas housing projects in Harlem , Drew Hamilton housing projects , Polo Grounds housing projects and Lincoln Housing projects also bin Harlem New York City with the expansion of the routes going more into the inner boroughs and cities of New York City . What I'm proposing if you look at a map of the city is that ready willing and able be given new routines that contract routes of inner city blocks to better clean those neighborhoods of graffiti , litter and debris in our city streets giving people of that community employment and a chance to then beautify their communities with clean parks , trees and areas like Fox Square to sit and enjoy themselves .

Kenneth Anderson (October 9, 1970) is a retired basketball player. After a college career at Georgia Tech, he played point guard (1991-2006) mostly in the NBA.

He was born in Queens. He was traded to the Charlotte Hornets in 1996, along with Gerald Glass, in a deal for Khalid Reeves and Kendall Gill.

He signed with the Portland Trail Blazers. In 1998, the Trail Blazers traded him, along with Alvin Williams, Gary Trent, and two 1998 first-round picks to the Toronto Raptors for Damon Stoudamire, Carlos Rogers, Walt Williams, and a 1998 second-round pick, but he refused to report to the team because he did not want to play in Canada, which prompted the Raptors to trade him to the Boston Celtics, along with Žan Tabak and Popeye Jones for John Thomas, Chauncey Billups, and Dee Brown. He spent a considerable amount of time as a Celtic before he was sent to the Seattle SuperSonics, along with Vitaly Potapenko and Joseph Forte, and in a package for Vin Baker and Shammond Williams. At the 2003 NBA trade deadline, he was dealt back to the Hornets, who had since relocated to New Orleans, for Elden Campbell. He then played as a reserve point guard for the Indiana Pacers, Atlanta Hawks, and Los Angeles Clippers.

Kenneth Anderson (born October 9, 1970) is a retired basketball player. After a college career at Georgia Tech, he played point guard from 1991 to 2006, mostly in the NBA. He was born in Queens. As a 16-year-old high school sophomore, the LeFrak City, Queens native who attended academic and athletic powerhouse Archbishop Molloy High School, was considered one of the best basketball prospects in America. Collegiate recruiters began scouting him in sixth grade and he was on the front page of the New York City sports section when he was 14. He was selected by the New Jersey Nets with the second pick in the 1991 NBA draft. He was the youngest player in the league in his rookie year and averaged seven points, two rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. In his second season, he nearly doubled his point, rebound, and assist averages. In his third season, he averaged 18.8 points and 9.6 assists. He was traded to the Charlotte Hornets in 1996, along with Gerald Glass, in a deal for Khalid Reeves and Kendall Gill. He signed with the Portland Trail Blazers. In 1998, the Trail Blazers traded him, along with Alvin Williams, Gary Trent, and two 1998 first-round picks to the Toronto Raptors for Damon Stoudamire, Carlos Rogers, Walt Williams, and a 1998 second-round pick, but he refused to report to the team because he did not want to play in Canada, which prompted the Raptors to trade him to the Boston Celtics, along with Žan Tabak and Popeye Jones for John Thomas, Chauncey Billups, and Dee Brown. He spent a considerable amount of time as a Celtic before he was sent to the Seattle SuperSonics, along with Vitaly Potapenko and Joseph Forte, and in a package for Vin Baker and Shammond Williams. At the 2003 NBA trade deadline, he was dealt back to the Hornets, who had since relocated to New Orleans, for Elden Campbell. He then played as a reserve point guard for the Indiana Pacers, Atlanta Hawks, and Los Angeles Clippers. He married Tami Roman (1994-2004), he married Tamika Lockhart (2002-2004), and Natasha Anderson (2007-). Through a partnership with the @queenslibrary, “Queens International 2018: Volumes” marks the first time that Queens International will have a presence outside of QM, with artworks installed in three QL branches: LeFrak, Flushing and Central. Join us on Nov. 10 for the opening day as we visit Mo Kong’s work in Flushing; Paolo Javier and musician David Mason in LeFrak, and Patrick Killoran in Central. Click HERE to learn more.

LeFrak City is a large apartment development in the southernmost region of Corona and the easternmost part of Elmhurst, and home to new immigrant families from the Caribbean, West Africa, South/East Asia, and South America. David Mason and I are beyond grateful to see our work installed in the LeFrak City library branch, a vital community center for these families and the neighborhood. 

For the opening, QM will have a free shuttle bus going between Central (Jamaica), LeFrak, and Flushing library branches. The shuttle bus will pick-up at 10:30am at the Jackson Heights 74th Street-Roosevelt Avenue subway station (7/E/F/M/R), making stops at branches according to the day's schedule, and end at the Flushing Library branch dropping off at 3:30pm. Library events also include a special People's Guide to the Queens International writing workshop at the LeFrak City branch and a Family Art Workshop in relation to Mo Kong's installation at the Flushing Branch!  Space is limited - so please do email Lindsey Berfond (lberfond@queensmuseum.org) to reserve seats - and do feel free to share her email address with friends and colleagues if they would like to register.

Also, the QI 2018 catalogue launch and reception will take place later in the evening at the fab Jackson Heights community bar Terraza 7, and will include a live performance by Zenizen and a DJ set with Helado Negro.
