with you 𐀔 lee sanghyeok
genre : fluff ⋆ warnings : none ⋆ word count : 518
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ୨ ✩ ୧
under a sky covered with twinkling stars, your cold hand brushes against sanghyeok's without realizing it. moonlight shining on your skin, lying in the damp grass of your garden after a long, boring meal with the neighbors. despite the fact that you adore your family a lot, you have to admit that financial and political conversations are not what you're most passionate about.
after a long minute of restful silence, lulled by the melodies of nocturnal birds, a gentle summer breeze gave you goose bumps, which prompted sanghyeok to move closer to you, shoulder to shoulder, and his warm hand subtly slipping into yours. his thumb naturally caressed the back of your hand, tenderly, delicately, with a softness comparable to silk. a smile graced your lips, just before you tilted your head slightly so that it rested against his shoulder.
« where do you see yourself in twenty years? » he asked softly, his voice disturbing the silence that had previously surrounded you both. your gaze swiveled towards his face, your pupils taking a long look at his cheek, before returning to his eyes — on which you remained focused for several minutes. their color was beautiful even in the moonlight, and the stars in the sky made his brown eyes sparkle and captivate, almost hypnotize. your heart missed a beat, your rhythm quickening in your chest as if you'd just broken the world record for the fastest race of all — only the moon knew how much that cute boy drove your heart crazy.
after a long reflection of tangled and incoherent thoughts, you took a deep breath, closing your eyes as you snuggled a little more comfortably against him. « with you. » you murmured, in a barely audible voice that could be confused with the sound of the wind. you weren't a couple at all — even though most of your friends thought you were, and your families (mothers) were convinced you'd end up married to each other. you had to admit that the idea didn't displease you in the least : sanghyeok was a cute boy, helpful, kind, funny, talented and always, always there for you.
you were sure he could feel your hand getting progressively clammy against his — but it didn't seem to bother him, especially when he tightened his grip on yours a little more. discreetly, you opened one eye, observing his reaction with a touch of apprehension, just to see a soft smile lining his lips and a slight pinkish tinge coloring his cheekbones. « me too. » he finally replied, causing your heart to bounce furiously against your ribcage, making so much noise that you were convinced he could hear it.
a big, satisfied smile appeared on your face, hiding the shyness that was growing inside you — maybe after all, you weren't the only one with feelings. « perfect. » you mumble, slipping your free arm around his to snuggle up to him, before he places a gentle kiss on your temple. « yea.. perfect. » sanghyeok repeated tenderly, watching the stars intently, your hearts beating in unison.

wish you were sober
pairing. best friend!leehan x reader genre. best friends to lovers (?), fluff, a sprinkle of angst, mutual pining word count. 1.8k warnings. reader is drunk and attempts to kiss leehan in this state (+ reader is shorter than leehan and wears makeup) masterlist
all it takes is one call from you, calling out his name with a voice that’s poutier than normal, before leehan’s striding out the door with his car keys in his hands.
when he sees you, you’re leaning against an electric pole, hugging it like it’s your lifeline. your other friends are around you, trying to pry you off, but you only push them away. from where he parks, he vaguely catches his name falling from your lips before he marches towards you and calls out your name himself.
you look up, eyes widened like saucers. instantly, as if you’re electrocuted, you pull away from the pole and glare at it, reprimanding. “you’re not leehan.”
the group around you bursts into laughter, and leehan can’t help the small chuckle that escapes him either. when he walks closer to you, you immediately cling onto him the same way you did to the pole, your cheek squished against his chest.
“my leehan is here,” you mumble.
he would have melted—no, dissolved—if not for the fact that he’s wholly supporting your weight and that all your friends are eyeing the two of you giddily. hence, his legs are forced to hold up straight, even though his heart is nothing but putty in your hands. he translates this through his expression instead, softening as he looks down at you and gently pats your head.
after thanking your friends for taking care of you, he walks off with you in tow. with one hand placed securely on the small of your back, he opens the car door with the other and attempts to seat you in the passenger’s seat. it takes a bit, because you’re reluctant to leave your hold on him, but he eventually gets you inside the car.
still leaning over, he easily fastens your seatbelt with a click. when he tries to pull away, however, you immediately snake your arms around his neck, holding him in place. it’s so sudden that he drops his hand onto your thigh for balance, but he quickly moves it before the touch can linger.
you’re staring at him, eyelashes fluttering. unlike your previous demeanour, your eyes seem to have more clarity in them now. you’re looking at him as if you’re searching for something beyond, while he’s looking at you as if he’s searching for a way out.
it’s too much. the blasting music down the street, the whirs of engines on the road, the mix of breaths between you, the ghost of your fingers on his nape, the weight of your eyes on him, the beat of his heart against his chest.
he feels too much, and yet, he can’t take his eyes off you.
slowly, you drag one hand from his nape, your fingers brushing past his ears and sending shivers down his spine, until it settles on his jaw. you cradle it gently, your thumb caressing his cheek. then, for a sliver of a moment, you drop your gaze.
it’s just a split second, but he catches it all the same. without realising, he finds himself flickering his eyes as well, and it’s all the indication you need to pull him closer.
that’s when leehan smiles, and then removes your arms around him easily. “get some rest. i’ll wake you up when we arrive.” he pats your head before shutting the car door.
when he climbs in the car from the opposite side, you’re facing the front and blinking blankly as if you’ve been slapped. he resists the urge to hold your hand like he always does on car rides, and forces his eyes to the front before driving off.
you do end up falling asleep, and when he gets you out of the car, he has to hoist you up against him snugly because you’re leaning your entire weight on him again. he doesn't mind, never when it comes to you, so he keeps his arm around your waist the entire time he’s bringing you up to your apartment. even when he reaches your door and has to fish out the spare key you gave him from his bag, he makes sure his hold on you is secure and that you’re resting your head on him.
when he unlocks the door, it seems to have briefly snapped you out of your delirium, because you’re removing yourself from him and staggering towards the sofa, much to his concern. he swiftly moves next to you, guiding you to the soft cushions and gently laying you down.
you immediately shut your eyes, quick to fall asleep again. at this, leehan sighs as he brushes the hair away from your face. “don’t wanna wash up first?” he asks softly. when you scrunch your nose in displeasure, he lets out a small smile. “not even your makeup?” he prods, and you respond with a quiet groan before you fall silent again.
his smile increases and he nods. “okay. just rest.”
truth be told, the alcohol in your system has already started to dissipate bit by bit, so even if you wanted to sleep—and never wake up again after what happened in the car—you couldn’t help but register all the stimuli around you, effectively reconnecting your consciousness to the world. this includes the ruffles of leehan’s clothes as he stands up and the fading of his footsteps as he opens the door to a room, prompting a series of noises from within, before the footsteps are fading back in until they cease right next to you.
the shuffles are heard again as he sits down, then the light sound of bottles hitting the floor. you furrow your eyebrows, finally opening your eyes just in time to see leehan place a soaked cotton pad on your face.
leehan immediately smiles when he meets your gaze, and he wordlessly prompts you to close your eyes so he can place two cotton pads on them. you do so without a fight, though your insides are practically fighting.
“let me know if i’m too rough,” he says, then begins swiping a cotton pad across your skin. he lets the ones on your eyes sit for just a little longer before he gently wipes off your eye makeup. “i’m sorry,” he lets out meekly when he has to apply more pressure on a stubborn area.
you remain silent the entire time, but you open your eyes again when you feel a warm towel on your face. he meets your eyes and smiles, as softly as how he’s dabbing the towel on your skin, wiping away the residue of your makeup remover. he does this a few times; washing the towel in the bowl of water and squeezing out the excess; and you keep your eyes on him all the while.
when he thinks he’s successfully cleaned your makeup, he adjusts his position, ready to stand up, but your voice immediately halts him.
“leehan,” you call, quiet and almost vulnerable.
he places your skincare back on the floor and faces you completely. “yeah?” he responds, round eyes staring at you softly… and fondly.
“you just took off my makeup,” you state matter-of-factly, ignoring your astute observation which has only added to the whirlwind inside you.
leehan blinks, then nods. “did i do it wrong?” he asks. “but i did it like this last time too… and the youtube videos….” he trails off, talking more to himself than anything.
“leehan,” you begin, your eyebrows furrowing. “do you do this for your other friends?”
he looks almost scandalized at your question. “no?” he lets out in incredulity. “you know i only do this for you.”
recollections of all the times you had been drunk and all the times he had taken care of you without any complaints, including taking off your makeup, flash across your head.
you suck in a sharp breath, looking him in the eyes directly. “then why?”
leehan tilts his head. “what do you mean?”
you avert your gaze, suddenly feeling too seen by him. silence encompasses you for a while and he allows it, waiting for you but not urging you—it’s little things like this that made you realise you never stood a chance against the line that threatens to be crossed in your friendship.
you hope he feels the same when you ask, “why did you reject me?”
the air feels heavy when you drop the question, and the silence that follows is even more so. you don’t dare to look at him, especially after the prolonged hesitance from him. still, you wait, even though you’re already close to withering inside. but when he finally speaks, the last bit of hope you’ve futilely held onto escapes like a droplet of water from a broken pipe.
“you’re drunk,” he says, but he instantly realises the gravity of his words when he sees the way you falter, the way he can hear a crack from you—and he feels himself shatter as well.
“no, y/n, i didn’t mean it like that,” he coaxes, getting up on his knees and placing a hand on your arm when you turn away from him.
“what other meaning is there?”
he pats your arm, prompting you to turn around. “look at me, y/n, please,” his tone is so sincere that you waver, glancing back at him.
“i said you’re drunk not because i’m trying to dismiss what you said,” he says firmly, needing to be as clear as possible. “but because it’s just not right for me to accept any gesture like that in your state,” he starts, then adds softly; hesitantly, “as much as i wanted to.”
the tears prickling at your eyes had been so close to falling until you caught what he said at the end. suddenly, your tears are gone and all you’re left with is confusion.
“hold on,” you turn to face him fully, momentarily surprised by the lack of proximity between you before you focus again. “did i hear that correctly?”
leehan’s ears turn an evident cerise, but he doesn’t move his eyes that are blinking up at you roundly. “i don’t want to talk about this when you’re drunk,” he laments, almost petulantly.
“i’m not drunk,” you refute firmly, and while you know it’s not entirely false, you also know your best friend wouldn’t fall for it.
“i’d rather spill my heart out when you’re not seconds away from passing out.” he attempts a joke, one corner of his lips quirking weakly, even though he feels like his heart is actually about to spill out his chest with the way it’s rattling his rib cage in anxiety.
you don’t have the energy to entertain him, so you remain tight-lipped as you stare at him.
leehan breathes out, deflating as he opens his mouth again. “instead,” he says, all traces of playfulness gone. “please… remember this moment.” he looks at you through his lashes, suddenly seeming so small, and his tone is too solemn, too desperate. “i’m not sure if i can handle another seven years.”
a/n. i just wanted to write abt leehan taking off ur makeup when ure drunk idk why it turned into a word vomit 😭 but i hope it was enjoyable to read!

bnd's kinks 𐂐◯𓇋
A/N: i haven't written smut in years but i like how this turned out! :D i am canonically a sapphic, so idk what possessed me to write this but here we are. 😔 lowercase is intended as always, enjoy. :)
genre: smut
tws: kinks!, explicit sexual content, bdsm themes
pairing: legal!bnd x afab!reader (but i tried to make it gn!reader mostly)
wc: 2,188
MDNI!! (i have three other pg imagines on my blog, read those instead :p)
Sungho
praise, service top/bottom, foreplay, teasing (sort of), begging
i think he just really wants to make you feel good, by any means necessary, although he prefers to be gentle.
he kind of strikes me as more vanilla than anything else, but he would love telling you how much he’s enjoying things.
you’re on the bed, legs spread, with sungho slowly running his fingers across your skin.
he looks down at you lovingly. “you’re so beautiful.” and you know he means it, with the way he’s looking at you like you’re the only other person in the world.
he’s very slow, very deliberate because why would he rush things when he has all the time in the world?
if he could, he would spend hours with you underneath him like this, your little whimpers like music to his ears.
but sungho would feel bad making you wait oh so patiently for him, so he’d do exactly what you want.
first, he’d trail soft kisses down your skin, making sure to suck and nip as he went.
he’d attach himself to your nipple, swirling his tongue around it slowly while bringing his hand down to your inner thighs.
your gasps and moans would only fuel his hard-on, its presence evident underneath his boxers.
he liked it when you were completely naked and when he still had an article or two of clothing on because sungho knew you would often beg so sweetly, something he found so endearing.
you begging for him… the love of his life needing him in a way that only he could satisfy.
sungho was always good at drawing orgasms out of you, making you have at least two before he’d even consider orgasming himself.
but when it comes to that point, he’d become a bit feverish. his grip on your hips would be almost tight enough to bruise as he pounded into you with vigor.
he’d continue kissing you sloppily, praises leaving his mouth one after the other.
“you feel so good… so pretty. shit, you’re so fucking hot…”
Riwoo
mommy kink, praise, humiliation, dick slapping, hints of dacryphilia
i think riwoo’s usually pretty innocent-minded, and too shy to initiate anything even if he is having impure thoughts.
so riwoo would just be minding his business, maybe playing league of legends on his pc. then you’d hug his neck from behind, resting your chin on his head. “how’s my baby doing?”
he would blush at the use of ownership, but not take his eyes off of the screen. “good. my team’s winning.”
“oh, that’s great! i’m so proud of you, sweetheart.” you run your fingers through his hair, causing a chill to go down riwoo’s spine. “can i join you? i’d like to watch.”
he nods and you pull up a chair next to his, resting your head against his shoulder but not in a way that would hinder his gaming.
he’d feel more nervous now, having an audience. he wants to make you proud, wants to hear you praise him again, so he locks in all of his attention to the screen in front of him.
which is why he doesn’t at first notice your hand on his thigh, until your fingers crest against the edge of his waistband.
he lets out a gasp and breaks his eye contact with the screen to glance at you. “wh…what are you doing?”
“what do you mean? i’m not doing anything, sweetheart. just keep playing your game.” your voice comes out innocent, but riwoo’s been dating you long enough to know that you in fact know exactly what you’re doing.
but he also knows better than to protest, especially since he’s already a bit turned on from you just complimenting him.
you notice that fact with the way his dick is already semi-hard. you let out a laugh and lightly slap his dick, making him let out a whine. “you’re already turned on and i haven’t even done anything. how pathetic…”
riwoo inhales a shaky breath and blinks several times, trying his best to focus.
when you undo his pants and pull down his boxers, he tries not to squirm even as the cool air in the room hits his fully erect dick.
you wrap a hand around it, gently running your thumb up and down the shaft.
he starts bucking his hips, so you remove your hand and slap his dick again.
riwoo whines and tears start to rim his eyes. “p-please…”
“hmm? please what, baby?”
“please touch me… more… i need more.”
“you need more, huh? so the slut isn’t appreciating what i’m giving him? it’s not enough?”
he gulps. “n-no, it’s good. i-i just–” he’s cut off when you lick the tip of his dick, a strangled moan escaping his lips.
“oh? did you like that? does that make my slut’s pretty dick feel good?”
“yes… more please…”
“please what?”
“mommy. please, mommy…”
and how could you say no to that?
Jaehyun
praise, humiliation, choking, masochism, bondage
i think jaehyun just gives me major “i need to be punished” vibes ??
he’s a very hyper man, and i imagine he’d probably get on your nerves fairly easily.
“jaehyun, can you stop running around like that? i’m trying to watch this lecture.”
“i’m not running around.” he pouts. “i’m just having fun.”
“can you have fun more quietly?”
“it’s not my fault my partner cares more about their grades than their sweet, loving boyfriend.”
“is that what this is about? you just want attention?” you scoff.
“maybe… i just miss you.” jaehyun frowns.
“so your plan is to piss me off? you never learn, do you? how many times do i have to punish you before you actually start to learn? you’re just a dumb slut, aren’t you?”
jaehyun’s jaw would go slack, both surprised and turned on all in one.
“i asked you a question.”
“uh. y-yes…”
“you’re gonna have to beg for it. convince me that you’re worth my time.”
“please…” he got down on his knees in front of you, resting his head on your thighs. “i want you so bad…”
“do you now? well, why don’t you make yourself useful and go get the box?”
jaehyun bites his lip and nods before racing into your shared bedroom to grab the box full of sex toys that you own. when he gets back, your laptop is no longer on your lap and your eyes are fully on him. just what he wanted.
he instinctively reaches down and palms himself through his shorts, until your voice breaks him out of his haze. “and what the fuck do you think you’re doing?”
“s-sorry, i really didn’t mean to.” jaehyun says quickly, placing the box in front of you. “really… it was an accident.”
“accident or not, you’re testing my patience. looks like what i originally had in mind won’t be enough. i’m going to have to fuck some sense into you.”
he doesn’t even protest, the arousal swirling within him. it’s almost too much, with the way that his dick strains against the only barrier between you and him.
“lay down on the couch.” you say, opening the box and pulling out a pair of fuzzy handcuffs.
jaehyun’s eyes widen. “w-wait! i wanna touch you!”
“too bad. if you’re going to act like a slut, i’m going to treat you like one.” you put the handcuffs on him before attacking his lips with your own. you press his hands down over his head and straddle his legs, your clothed heat brushing against his erection.
“f-fuck…” jaehyun groans in between your kisses.
you pull away only to wrap a hand around his soft neck, squeezing gently as you rub yourself against him. “do you like that, slut?”
“yes, i like it so m-much…”
“mm, good boy.”
Taesan
dom/sub, humiliation, edging, sadism, teasing
i love taesan as much as the next onedoor, but this man can be mean 😭 like he’s a sweetheart don’t get me wrong but he really has his moments where i’m like damn dude.
so i think that this could easily be applied to his sexual preferences.
being a songwriter of boynextdoor does not come without its challenges, so he’s often stressed and worn out from the sheer amount of responsibilities he has placed on him. so of course he needs an outlet for all that stress… cue you, his wonderful loving partner.
you’d hear the front door to the apartment close all the way from your shared bedroom, a huge smile on your face knowing that it was taesan coming home after a long day.
you race into the living room to greet him, finding him standing there oddly still with a dark look in his eyes.
you immediately freeze, mouth slightly agape as he slowly trails his eyes up your body. when they meet your own, you can see the desire within them. “go back to the bedroom. when i come back there, i expect you to be fully naked.”
you stand there for a few more seconds, taking in his words before nodding and hurriedly rushing back to the bedroom.
you’ve barely taken off your underwear, which was your last article of clothing, when taesan bursts into the room.
you could practically feel the heat of his eyes as he approaches you, not bothering to close the door. “fuck, i’ve been waiting all day for this…”
he immediately wraps you up in his arms and kisses you passionately before (gently) throwing you on the bed and crawling on top of you.
he makes haste with discarding his own clothing before attaching his lips to your neck, you writhing below him with soft whimpers.
if you’d squirm too much, he’d hold your hips as a warning.
but if you squirmed again regardless, he would slap your inner thigh and grab your jaw, making eye contact with you. “don’t fucking move.”
which is easier said than done, and he knows that but doesn’t care because he loves being mean. <3
so he just watches as you helplessly try to stay still, even as he brings his fingers dangerously close to your sensitive areas.
“aww, poor baby… you want to move so bad, don’t you?”
“taesan, please just fuck me.”
“tsk… you should know better than to ask for that so early on. what would be the fun in that? i think i’d much rather watch you come undone with just my fingers alone. wouldn’t you like that too, baby?”
you nod feverishly, choking out a moan when his finger circles your hole.
and when he’s fingering you with intensity, you know you’re about to come undone exactly as he wanted.
your moans increase and get higher in pitch, your orgasm right there.
you feel it building up, just about to come when taesan suddenly pulls his fingers away, leaving you clenching around nothing.
“n-no! taesan, please! please, please…”
“shhh…” he places a finger against your lips. “just relax. you’ll get what you want, baby… just let me have some fun first, yeah?” and then he’s back to attacking your neck.
Leehan
switch, role play, power dynamics
idk why but i just think leehan would find the idea of role play funny, something he’d want to try out as a joke… but seeing you in that sexy nurse outfit has his head spinning in a way he didn’t plan on.
the way the tight uniform shows off every one of your curves has leehan immediately wanting to pounce on you like he’s some animal.
but he’d restrain himself, because he’s curious where this will go.
and you being the fantastic nurse that you are means that you have to give him a well-rounded checkup.
so of course you have to test every nerve to make sure that his motor functions are working properly.
you start with the usual, gently tapping your rubber mallet against his knee before working your way up.
he responds well to your touch, his breath hitching when you brush against his dick, it already being hard.
which is convenient because you need to make sure that was in working order, too.
“do you regularly engage in sexual intercourse, mr. kim?”
leehan is taken aback by your question, blushing a little. “yes…”
“and do you use protection, sir?”
he gulps, liking the way you were referring to him. it became physically evident in the way that his dick twitched ever so slightly, begging for friction. “yes.”
“good. very, very good.” you make a show of writing on a blank notepad. “i’m going to need to further examine you, especially because it’s been a while since you’ve been to get a checkup.”
you scoot closer to him on the stool and gesture at his pants. “would you mind taking these off, mr. kim?”
leehan nods and quickly unbuttons and unzips his pants, pulling them down to around his ankles. the tent in his boxers stand proud, a small patch of wetness on the cotton fabric.
you reach out and palm him through the fabric, achingly slow, earning a hiss from leehan.
“just relax, alright? this examination might take a while…”

Let's go to the beach-each (nicki minaje - starships) Let's go get a wave
ᨓ 。kim donghyun x fem reader ꒰🌊꒱ ﹕fluff ﹕+8.5k contains: surfer!leehan and lifeguard!fem reader, slight enemies to lovers and slight slowburn, mention of the rest of BND members THIS IS FOR THE #SWY EVENT COMING 2 U BY @onedoornet ┈─★
The sun blazed overhead as you stood at your lifeguard post, scanning the ocean for any signs of trouble. Busan’s beach was packed, as always, with tourists and locals soaking up the summer heat. You squinted against the sunlight, and there he was—again.
Leehan, the surfer who consistently defined the rules.
Leehan was the type of surfer who thrived on teasing and stirring up playful trouble, especially with anyone who dared to challenge him. He had a natural, effortless charm, the kind that made people—especially girls—think they had his attention when, in reality, he was always a step ahead, never letting anyone get too close.
His laid-back attitude, paired with his sharp wit, made him irresistible to most, and they often mistook his flirtatious smirks and lighthearted jabs for something more. But Leehan wasn’t one to be tied down or caught up in romantic expectations. To him, the fun lay in the game, not in the commitment, and he enjoyed keeping people guessing, always in control, never truly letting anyone see past the surface.
He rode a wave effortlessly, his form sharp and perfect as he carved through the water. It would’ve been impressive if it weren’t for the fact that he always surfed in the restricted areas, despite your repeated warnings. You huffed, standing up and blowing your whistle loud enough for him to hear, waving your arm to signal him back to the safe zone.
But instead of acknowledging you, he threw you a cocky smirk while waving his hand, returning the gesture, and kept riding the wave. Your blood boiled. This was the third time this week.
After what felt like an eternity of him ignoring you, he finally paddled back to shore, dripping wet and grinning as if nothing was wrong. He sauntered up to where you stood, his surfboard tucked under his arm.
"Something wrong, lifeguard?" he asked, raising an eyebrow, feigning innocence.
"Yeah, there is," you snapped, crossing your arms over your chest. "That area is off-limits. You know that."
Leehan shrugged, flicking his wet hair back, and your eyes couldn't lose the opportunity to see his neckbone stretch out, his Adam's apple on full display. "I wasn’t causing any trouble. Just catching a wave."
"You’re going to cause an accident," you retorted, standing your ground. "If you don’t follow the rules, I’ll have to ban you from the beach."
He grinned wider, clearly not taking you seriously. "You think you can handle that?"
Your irritation flared. "Don’t test me, Leehan. I’m here to keep people safe, not babysit rebellious surfers."
"Whatever you say, lifeguard," he said, mocking with his tone, turning away as if the conversation was over. "Just try not to get too worked up over little things."
His winked at you as he left; you watched him walk off, fuming. You sighed and sank back into your chair, the familiar sound of waves crashing against the shore doing little to calm your nerves.
Busan Beach was supposed to be a peaceful escape, a break from the chaos of Seoul, where you could spend the summer doing something productive, just like your grandfather had encouraged. Instead, it felt like you had signed up for a full-time job babysitting an unruly, reckless surfer.
Mingyu, the head lifeguard, had warned you about Leehan the first day you showed up in your red lifeguard suit, excited and ready to take on the challenge of keeping the beach safe. He’d pulled you aside and told you in no uncertain terms, “Watch out for Leehan. He’s… persistent.”
You’d laughed it off back then, thinking it couldn’t be that bad. But after a few encounters with him pushing every boundary, you finally understood the exhausted look Mingyu had given you. Leehan wasn’t just persistent—he was relentless.
This rivalry had been building for weeks, and no matter how much you enforced the rules, Leehan never seemed to care. He was infuriating—arrogant, reckless, and completely unaware of how much he got under your skin.
The next day, it was the same routine. You on the tower, keeping an eye on everyone, and him in the water, pushing every boundary he could. By noon, you’d had enough and stormed over to where he was setting up his board.
"Do you enjoy making my job harder?" you asked, voice sharp.
He looked up at you, clearly amused by your frustration. "Maybe I just enjoy getting a rise out of you."
You opened your mouth to fire back, but before you could, a sudden scream cut through the air. You both turned toward the water, where a young boy was struggling in the strong current.
Without hesitation, you dropped everything and sprinted toward the water, adrenaline surging through your veins. You dove in, swimming as fast as you could to reach him, your training kicking in automatically.
Just as you reached the boy and grabbed him, you saw Leehan beside you, his strong arms helping to keep the boy afloat. You exchanged a brief, surprised glance before focusing on getting the boy back to shore.
Once on land, you both worked together to make sure the boy was okay, adrenaline still pumping through your veins. As soon as the boy’s parents arrived, you finally allowed yourself to breathe.
"Oh my God, I told you to not go there without dad! Thank you so much, darling." The mother of the boy hugged you so tight that you thought you were about to have a lack of oxygen anytime soon. You heard claps from the people that saw everything, and you blushed, bowing at them and returning to your tower, not noticing that Leehan was behind you.
You climbed back up to your lifeguard tower, your heart still racing from the rescue. The adrenaline had yet to leave your system, and you were trying to calm yourself when you felt someone’s presence behind you. You didn’t need to turn around to know it was Leehan; his familiar energy was unmistakable.
"What now?" you asked, not bothering to look at him as you plopped down into your chair, hoping the waves could drown out your lingering frustration.
Leehan’s voice came from closer than you expected. "That was impressive."
You blinked, surprised by the compliment. Turning slightly, you saw him standing there, no cocky smirk, no playful teasing. Just genuine respect in his eyes. It threw you off.
"You helped," you said, slightly begrudgingly but acknowledging the fact that he had been right there in the water with you, making sure the boy was safe. It was the first time you’d seen him take something seriously.
He shrugged, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Guess I’m not always causing trouble, huh?"
You huffed, leaning back in your chair. "Don’t get used to it. You’re still on thin ice with me, surfer."
Leehan chuckled, the sound softer than usual. "I can live with that." He tilted his head, looking at you with curiosity. "You ever think maybe you’re a little too uptight? Not everything has to be a battle."
Your jaw clenched. "Not everything is a joke, Leehan. Some of us have responsibilities."
"And some of us know how to enjoy life while still being responsible," he countered, that familiar teasing edge slipping back into his tone. "Maybe you should try it sometime."
"Go to hell," you said, and he laughed at you. Well, at your answer. "Thankfully, I will only deal with you for the next two months."
"Two months?" you nodded, answering him while looking at the horizon, seeing how the majority of people were already leaving as a cool breeze started to feel.
"I'm going back to Seoul. Only coming here for my summer vacations and my grandpa." You look to your left, his body leaning against the balcony through which you could see everything, his gaze fixed on you.
You started to take your things, cleaning in the process some of the food you had eaten and writing a report for Mingyu—all of that in the presence of Leehan, who was giving you space.
Both of you left the tower; you left Leehan there, not thinking that he would only take his surfboard and run to you, catching you up.
"Where are you going?" Your eyes narrowed, feeling weird out for his drastic change of behavior.
"My grandpa's house." You pointed at the colorful house; you knew your dad was in the neighbor's house playing cards, so he won't embarrass you with a comment in the presence of Leehan.
The boy next to you let out a sigh. "I only have two months to bother you."
"You already bothered me for a month; I think I can handle two months, sadly."
"Oh, please, you love nagging me. You love me." He sang the "love" word, and you pushed him; he laughed as you once again left him behind. You reached the door of the house, your key opening it easily. Leehan left his surfboard on the sand and putted a hand on your door as you were about to close it. "I'm sorry."
"You wanna know something, Leehan? I love making memories at the beach, but right now you're causing me stress. Please, let me have a peaceful two months," he put a thinking face, looking at you short after.
"I will help you with that," your eyes shinned.
"You're not coming to the beach?" He scoffed at your answer.
"No, but I will help you make memories. Ones that you won't forget." You both stood there, his hand coming to your vision as he put a string of your hair to the back of your right ear. "Only if you let me."
"Good night, Leehan."
As the door clicked shut, you leaned your back against it, your heart still racing. Leehan's words echoed in your mind, that teasing tone now laced with something deeper, something unfamiliar. He'd always been a thorn in your side, a source of frustration, but tonight, something had shifted. His offer—no, his promise—lingered in the air.
"Only if you let me."
You shook your head, trying to shake off the warmth blooming in your chest.
The next few days went by in a blur of routine—keeping an eye on beachgoers, making sure everything was running smoothly. Leehan acted like nothing happened, and so did you. He wasn’t causing trouble like before. In fact, he stayed in the safe zones, and whenever you crossed paths, he’d flash you a soft grin. Keyword, soft.
If he wasn't in the safe zones, he was relaxing under the umbrella; even sometimes he would come to talk to you; no bickering and no fighting. You even got to know more about him; he was applying to an university in Seoul with his best friends; he had a dog; he got his first surfboard at the solid age of six; knowing small things makes you see him less insoferable.
This was one of those days, a small lunch break as he talked to you.
"Hey, can you not go at the same time as always?" You cleaned your mouth with a napkin, your eyebrows frowning.
"Why would I not do that? My shift is over by that." He put a finger between your brows, and you relaxed them.
"You said you want to make memories. Right?"
"Hey, Leehan!" You both heard a male scream. Looking from the balcony, there were five boys, all of them waving at the boy, and for the first time, you could see a big smile on his face.
"Sungho!" He looked at you as he stood up. "Meet me outside the tower. My friends came to surf." You didn't even have time to answer; he left, and you could see through the balcony how he jumped to his friends, making you smile at the brotherly view.
Time flew really slowly, watching the people and Leehan with his friends. You wouldn't admit it, but his friends were as handsome as him, but there was something about Leehan that simply made you look at him more. Just like he said, as you were going down the mini stairs the tower had, you could look at him in the distance with not one surfboard but with two. A few minutes past when he stood in front of you, the surfboards in both of his sizes.
"What are you doing?"
"More like, what are we doing?" He gently gave you a surfboard with a smile. "We are surfing."
"Yeah, there's no way I would do that." You pointed the surfboard, and he opened his eyes.
"Come on! It would be fun; what's stopping? Because, as far as I know, you are on vacation." You gulped, looking down at the sand.
"I don't know how to surf."
Leehan's lips curled into a teasing grin, his eyes lighting up. "You don't know how to surf? You’ve been a lifeguard this whole time and never tried."
You felt your cheeks flush with embarrassment, but you held your ground. "It's not like I haven’t thought about it. I just never had the chance, and I didn’t want to."
"Embarrass yourself?" He finished, stepping closer; the surfboard balanced easily under his arm. You looked away, feeling the warmth of his presence. "Don't worry. I’ll teach you."
You rolled your eyes, crossing your arms. "I don't need a cocky surfer trying to teach me something I’ll probably fail at."
Leehan tilted his head, his expression softening. "I'm not that bad of a teacher, you know. And I won't let you fail. Besides," he added with a wink, "you can’t leave here without making at least one memory that you’ll actually want to keep, right?"
You hesitated, watching as his teasing demeanor slowly faded into something more sincere. The offer was genuine. And there was something in his eyes—something that made you believe, for just a moment, that this wasn’t a game to him anymore. He was serious about making a memory with you.
"Fine," you sighed, taking the surfboard from his hand, the weight of it heavier than you expected. "But if I wipe out, it's on you."
Leehan laughed; the sound was warm and carefree. "Deal."
He guided you toward the water, explaining the basics as you walked side by side along the shore. His usual teasing was gone, replaced by patient instructions as he showed you how to balance, how to paddle, and how to read the waves. For the first time, you saw him differently—not as the rebellious, rule-breaking surfer who drove you crazy, but as someone who was genuinely passionate about the ocean and everything that came with it.
The sun was starting to set, casting a golden glow over the beach as you finally paddled out together. The waves were gentle, and Leehan stayed close, his eyes on you the entire time. "You ready?" he called out over the sound of the surf.
You nodded, heart pounding in your chest as you focused on staying steady.
"Okay, when the next wave comes, I want you to pop up and keep your knees bent. Don’t overthink it, just feel it," he said, his voice calm and reassuring.
You waited, your breath catching in your throat as the wave approached. Leehan gave you a nod, and with all the courage you could muster, you popped up, your legs shaky but holding. For a brief, glorious moment, you were riding the wave, your heart soaring.
Then, just as quickly, you lost your balance and tumbled into the water with a splash.
When you resurfaced, sputtering and laughing despite yourself, Leehan was right there, grinning at you like he’d just witnessed the most impressive feat in the world. "Not bad for your first try!"
You playfully splashed water at him. "I wiped out."
He shrugged, still grinning. "You got up. That’s what counts."
You couldn’t help but smile, your earlier frustration melting away. There was something about the way he looked at you in that moment—like he was genuinely proud of you—that made your heart skip a beat.
As the sun dipped lower on the horizon, painting the sky in hues of pink and orange, you paddled back to shore, the soft sand welcoming your tired feet. Leehan walked beside you, the atmosphere between you lighter, more relaxed. For once, there was no teasing, no arguments—just an unspoken understanding.
"You did good today," he said, his voice softer than usual as he set his surfboard down.
"Thanks," you replied, brushing some sand off your arms. "I guess you’re not such a terrible teacher after all."
Leehan chuckled, but then his smile faded slightly as he looked at you, his gaze lingering longer than usual. "You know, I wasn’t kidding about what I said before."
You tilted your head, curious. "About what?"
"About making memories." He stepped closer, his expression more serious now, the playful, carefree surfer gone. "I want you to remember this summer… with me."
The sincerity in his voice caught you off guard. This wasn’t the cocky surfer who loved pushing your buttons. This was Leehan, standing in front of you, vulnerable for the first time. You could feel the weight of his words, the way they hung in the air between you.
"I…" you started, unsure of how to respond. Your heart was racing again, but this time, it wasn’t because of the adrenaline from the waves.
He reached out, gently tucking a loose strand of your hair behind your ear, his fingers brushing against your skin. "I think I’ve been spending so much time trying to get a rise out of you because…" He trailed off, his gaze dropping for a moment before meeting yours again. "I like being around you, lifeguard."
You blinked, the confession catching you completely off guard. "Leehan…"
He gave you a small, nervous smile—something you’d never seen from him before. "I know I can be a pain, but… I think we’re past that now, don’t you?"
For once, you didn’t have a sharp comeback. Instead, you found yourself nodding, your heart pounding in your chest as you took in the sight of him standing there, more open and vulnerable than you’d ever seen him.
"Yeah," you whispered, your voice barely audible over the sound of the waves. "We are."
Leehan’s eyes softened as he stepped closer, the teasing smile replaced by something warmer, more genuine. "Good," he said quietly, his hand lingering on your arm for just a moment longer than necessary before he pulled away, his eyes still locked on yours. "Then let’s make this a summer to remember."
— : ☆
Another month and a half has passed, and you can’t count how many times you’ve gone out with Leehan. Each time surprises you—once, you were at an aquarium where he wouldn’t stop talking about fish (which was a pretty big surprise, considering how much he loved marine life), and another time you were decorating cookies at his house with his lovely grandma, who adored you.
Leehan had invited you to a quiet café hidden on the outskirts of the beach town, one with a view of the ocean but far away from the usual crowd of surfers and tourists. It was intimate and cozy, with soft music playing in the background and large windows that let in the golden light of the setting sun.
“So, this is one of my favorite spots,” Leehan said as you both settled into your seats. He smiled, but there was a nervousness behind it, like he was waiting for your reaction.
“It’s beautiful,” you said, gazing out at the waves. “I didn’t even know this place existed.”
He grinned, leaning back in his chair. “Told you I had good taste.”
You spent the next hour talking about everything and nothing—about university, future plans, the places you’d want to visit. Leehan opened up more than usual, telling you about his worries about moving and not being accepted for university, about missing the place that made him grow, and about how he wasn’t sure if he was ready to leave behind this part of his life.
“I mean, I love surfing, but it’s not just that, you know?” he said, his voice softer than usual. “It’s… everything. The people. The memories. This summer.”
You glanced up at him, your chest tightening at the way his eyes softened when he looked at you. "You’ll miss it, won’t you?"
“Yeah.” He smiled faintly, his gaze lingering on yours for a moment before looking out at the ocean. “But I’ll miss you more. I like your personality, lifeguard.”
The words hung in the air between you, heavier than they should have been, making your pulse quicken. He wasn’t teasing. There was no playful glint in his eyes, no mischievous grin on his lips. It was just… him. Honest. Vulnerable.
You opened your mouth to respond, but the words didn’t come. Instead, you smiled softly, reaching across the table to lightly tap his arm. “I’ll miss you too, Leehan. I like your personality too, surfer.”
He looked down at your hand on his arm, his expression unreadable for a moment before he turned back to you. His hand slid over yours, gentle and warm, sending a shiver down your spine. “This summer,” he began, his voice trailing off as he searched for the right words. “It’s been different. Because of you.”
Your heart raced, the air between you thick with unspoken feelings. You wanted to say something—anything—to fill the silence, to break the tension, but you couldn’t. Instead, you stayed there, your hand still under his, the weight of his touch grounding you in the moment.
Before you could fully process what was happening, the waiter came by with your drinks, breaking the spell. Leehan pulled his hand away slowly, almost reluctantly, and you both shifted back into the comfortable rhythm of your conversation.
But the atmosphere had changed. There was a tension now, a soft, electric current running between you that neither of you could ignore.
As the evening went on, you wandered down to the beach together, the cool sand beneath your feet and the sound of the waves lapping against the shore. The sky was a blend of purples and oranges, the last remnants of the sunset painting everything in a dreamy haze.
Leehan walked beside you in silence for a while, his hands tucked into his pockets. You glanced over at him, noticing the way his brow was furrowed slightly, like he was deep in thought.
“Are you okay?” you asked softly, nudging him with your elbow.
He blinked, looking over at you with a small smile. “Yeah. Just thinking.”
“About what?”
He hesitated for a moment before turning to face you fully, his gaze intense. “About creating your next memory”
You looked up at Leehan, your heart fluttering at the sincerity in his eyes. The evening had been perfect, filled with quiet moments and laughter, and now, as you stood together on the beach with the ocean breeze swirling around you, his words felt like a promise.
“Creating my next memory?” You asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
Leehan nodded, his smile softening. “Yeah. I want us to have more moments like this, you know? I want us to remember this summer not just as a time when we were friends but as something more.”
You took a deep breath, trying to steady the rush of emotions that were flooding over you. The way he spoke made it clear that this wasn’t just about summer or surfing; it was about something deeper, something real.
“What do you have in mind?” you asked, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness.
Leehan’s eyes sparkled with a mixture of mischief and affection. “It's a secret. And it will take time.”
"Really?" Leehan nodded as he took the stairs to your house along with you.
"Yeah, so you'll be free from me," you said, making a small pout.
"I started to get used to your annoying ass." You opened your door quietly; it was pretty late, and you knew your grandpa was sleeping.
Leehan put his palms on the door frame once I was inside, his face stretched to match mine. "Once again, you prove to me that you…"
"Don't do-"
"Love me." Like the first time, he sang the first word, but on the contrary, one month ago, this time you rolled your eyes with a smirk on your face, pushing him out as he gave you a smile.
"Goodnight, Leehan." You gave him your back to go to the kitchen, but his hand caught your waist and made you spin. Now you were face to face, your hands on his chest for support due to the sudden movement.
The moonlight bathed Leehan in a soft glow, casting a halo around him that made your heart skip a beat. His fingers lingered on your waist, his touch warm and gentle, as if he were testing the boundaries of the moment, unsure if he should take it further or let it fade.
You held your breath, feeling the weight of the unspoken tension between you. The electric current that had been building all evening was finally reaching its peak. His eyes searched yours, dark and intense, as though he was trying to find the courage to say what had been left unsaid for weeks.
“I’m serious,” he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. “I'm going to make this last week with you memorable. I'll give you my word.” Your heart hammered in your chest, and you felt yourself leaning in, pulled toward him like the tide to the shore. His face was so close now, close enough that you could see the way his breath hitched. His lips went to your cheek in the softest way possible.
He took his hands off your body, now a soft smile in his face as he watched you. So ethereal, so beautiful, so unique.
"Good night, lifeguard."

It wasn’t like him to go radio silent, especially after what had happened that night at your house. You found yourself constantly checking your phone, hoping for a text, a call—anything that would explain why he was gone so suddenly. But there was nothing. The beach felt different without him—quieter, lonelier. Even the familiar sounds of the waves crashing against the shore weren’t enough to drown out the thoughts swirling in your mind.
Had something changed between you? Had you crossed a line that couldn’t be undone?
Your grandpa had noticed your distraction, but as always, he kept his words to himself, only offering the occasional knowing smile whenever you seemed particularly lost in thought. It was a week later, though, when he came to you, holding a package wrapped in delicate, sea-blue paper.
“This arrived for you,” he said, his eyes twinkling with a quiet amusement.
You blinked, looking between him and the package. “For me?”
He nodded, handing it over. “From Leehan. He said you’d know when to wear it.”
Your heart fluttered at the sound of his name, and with trembling fingers, you carefully unwrapped the package, noticing something written in the wrap paper.
"Tonight. Be ready at 7. I’ll be waiting on the beach."
Inside was a dress—a beautiful, flowing white dress, simple yet elegant, with delicate lace details around the neckline. It was the kind of dress that felt timeless, like something out of a fairytale.
"How does he know my size?" you whispered.
"I called your mother, and she gave it to me." Your grandpa surprised you, and he simply winked, leaving your room as you admired the dress.
By the time the sun began to set, you were standing at the edge of the beach, your toes sinking into the cool sand. The dress flowed softly with the breeze, and for a moment, you felt like you were in a dream, like you had stepped into one of those romantic movies where the ending was bittersweet but beautiful.
Ahead, you saw it—the soft glow of string lights hanging between two palm trees, illuminating a small table set for two. The sound of distant laughter carried through the wind, and as you got closer, you spotted Leehan’s friends: Woonhak, Taesan, Jaehyun, Sungho, and Riwoo. They were busy setting up the final touches, but the moment they noticed you, they gave you a wave before retreating, leaving the scene just for the two of you.
Leehan stood by the water’s edge, his back turned toward you, his hair ruffled by the wind. He was wearing a white shirt that matched the dress he had chosen for you, and as he turned to face you, his eyes softened. The moon had begun to rise behind him, casting a silver light over the beach, making the whole scene feel like something out of a storybook.
“You look…” His voice trailed off, his gaze lingering on you as if words weren’t enough to capture what he wanted to say. “…perfect.”
You smiled softly, stepping closer. “This is beautiful, Leehan. I can’t believe you did all this.”
He scratched the back of his neck, looking a little sheepish. “I had some help,” he admitted, nodding toward the group of friends who were now disappearing down the beach. “But I wanted tonight to be special.”
You glanced around at the lights, the candles flickering on the table, and the waves gently lapping at the shore. It was special—more than you could have ever imagined. But beneath the beauty of it all, there was a bittersweet undercurrent, a silent understanding that this summer, this moment, was coming to an end.
As you both sat down at the table, the conversation flowed easily at first—lighthearted, filled with laughter, stories of the past few weeks, and jokes about the lengths he went to keep the evening a surprise. But as the night deepened and the stars began to dot the sky, the mood shifted.
There was a heaviness now, a shared sadness that neither of you could ignore.
Leehan's eyes lingered on yours longer than usual, the weight of everything unsaid pressing down on the both of you. The breeze carried the scent of saltwater, the distant hum of the ocean a constant reminder of the fleeting nature of this moment. You took a deep breath, feeling a lump form in your throat as the reality of the situation settled in. Two days. You had two days left together.
“I still haven’t heard back from the university,” Leehan said softly, breaking the silence. His voice was quieter now, vulnerable in a way you hadn’t seen before. “I keep checking my email, waiting for something, but nothing yet.”
Your heart clenched. You knew how much he wanted this, how hard he had worked to get to this point, and yet here he was—stuck in limbo, waiting for a future that still seemed so uncertain.
“I’m sure it’ll come,” you said, your voice gentle. “Maybe they’re just taking longer than usual.”
He gave a small, tight smile, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Yeah. Maybe.”
You both fell into silence again, the weight of the situation settling heavily between you. The string lights above flickered softly, casting warm, golden hues over the table, but they couldn’t chase away the growing ache in your chest.
Leehan leaned back in his chair, running a hand through his hair, his gaze fixed on the ocean. “You’re leaving in two days.”
It wasn’t a question, just a statement—a fact that hung in the air like a cloud over the evening. You swallowed hard, nodding.
“I know,” you whispered, your chest tightening. “It feels like this summer went by too fast.”
He nodded, still not meeting your eyes. “I didn’t want it to end like this. I didn’t want… us to end like this.”
The words hit you like a wave, crashing over you with a force you hadn’t expected. Us. He had said it—acknowledging what had been growing between you all summer, the connection that neither of you had dared to put a name to.
“You know,” you began, your voice trembling slightly. “I don’t want this to end either.”
Leehan’s eyes finally met yours, and in that moment, the vulnerability in his gaze mirrored your own. The emotions you had both been holding back all summer—fear, excitement, longing—were laid bare, unspoken but undeniable.
“Then why does it feel like we’re both saying goodbye?” His voice was barely above a whisper, the sadness in his tone echoing the ache in your own heart.
You didn’t have an answer. You didn’t know how to explain that sometimes things were too perfect to last. Sometimes, no matter how much you wanted to hold on, life had other plans. You reached across the table, your hand finding his, the warmth of his touch grounding you, even as everything else felt like it was slipping away.
“I’m going to miss you, surfer.” You whispered, your voice thick with emotion. “More than you know.”
Leehan squeezed your hand, his eyes never leaving yours. “I’m going to miss you too, lifeguard.”
The silence that followed was heavy with the weight of all the things you couldn’t say—how much you had come to care for him, how much this summer had changed you. But there was no need for words anymore. You both knew. The feelings were there, just beneath the surface, waiting to be acknowledged.
But you wouldn’t say it. Not tonight. Not when the thought of saying goodbye was already too much to bear.
Instead, Leehan stood up, offering you his hand. “Come on,” he said softly. “I have one last surprise.”
You let him lead you down to the water’s edge, the cool waves lapping at your feet. The moon was high in the sky now, casting a silvery glow over the ocean, and for a moment, it felt like you were the only two people in the world.
He pulled you into a slow dance, the sound of the ocean and the distant music from a small speaker he installed, blending together into a soft, romantic melody. You rested your head against his chest, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat beneath your cheek. His arms wrapped around you, holding you close, as if he were trying to memorize the feel of you in his arms.
“Thank you for this,” you whispered, your voice barely audible over the sound of the waves.
He didn’t respond with words. Instead, he pressed a soft kiss to the top of your head, his arms tightening around you. And in that moment, you knew. You both knew.
You were in love.
But it was a love you couldn’t hold on to, not right now. Not when the summer was ending and life was pulling you in different directions.
So, for tonight, you danced. You held on to each other as the waves whispered their goodbyes, as the stars blinked down from the sky, and as the world around you faded away. Because in this moment, you didn’t need to say anything.
— : ☆
You stood in the doorway, phone in hand, staring at the screen longer than you should have. The familiar weight in your chest grew heavier, pressing against your ribs as you swallowed down the lump in your throat. The house felt quieter now, the warmth of last night’s memory still lingering in the air. It was hard to believe that just hours ago, everything felt timeless, like your summer would never end. But now… it was real. You were leaving.
Taking a deep breath, you pressed the voice message icon and tried to keep your voice steady.
"Hey, Leehan. Sorry for bothering you. I know you're probably still sleeping, but my mom came earlier than expected, and…" Your voice wavered, but you forced yourself to continue. "I'm leaving right now for Seoul."
A wave of sadness washed over you as you spoke, each word feeling heavier than the last. You paused, trying to collect your thoughts, to say something meaningful, something that could capture the bittersweet emotions flooding your heart. You wanted to thank him for everything—for all the memories, for the way he made this summer feel like something out of a dream.
"Thank you for everything, Leehan. For the beach, for the laughter, for… for making this summer unforgettable." You hesitated, unsure of how to end it. "I’ll miss you."
The words hung in the air, final and inevitable. You released the button, watching the message send with a soft whoosh. It felt like letting go of something precious, something you weren’t quite ready to part with.
You pocketed your phone and turned to face your grandpa, who stood in the doorway watching you with a sad but understanding smile. His arms opened, and without a word, you wrapped yours around him, squeezing tightly. The scent of the sea, the warmth of his flannel shirt—everything about him reminded you of this place, of home.
“I’ll miss you so much, grandpa,” you whispered, your voice breaking just a little. Tears pricked your eyes, but you blinked them away, not wanting this moment to end in sadness.
He patted your back softly, his voice steady. "I’ll miss you too, kiddo. But you’ve got your whole life ahead of you. Don’t forget that."
Pulling back, you offered him a watery smile, nodding as you wiped at your eyes. He glanced over at your mom, who was waiting in the car, then back at you.
"You can always come back, you know. This town… it’ll always be here. And so will I."
You nodded, but the heaviness in your heart remained. It was never just about the town. It was about everything that had happened here, the memories you were leaving behind—memories you weren’t ready to let go of, not yet.
With one last look at the house, the beach in the distance, and the path you had walked so many times with Leehan, you climbed into the car. Your mom smiled softly as you buckled in, but you couldn’t return it. Not yet.
The engine started, and as the car pulled away, you found yourself turning back, looking through the rearview mirror at the small beach town fading in the distance.
Leehan stood by your grandpa, chest heaving as he tried to catch his breath, the bouquet of flowers cradled protectively in his arms. His eyes darted to the road where the car had just disappeared, his face pale with the weight of realization—he was too late. He gripped the flowers tighter, his knuckles white against the delicate petals.
Your grandpa placed a hand on Leehan’s shoulder, his expression soft, filled with the kind of understanding that only comes with age. “You didn’t miss her by much, son. She just left.”
Leehan nodded, but the words didn’t bring him comfort. The ache in his chest only grew as he looked down at the flowers, the card tucked neatly between them, filled with all the words he hadn’t been able to say to you. Five pages, front and back, confessing everything he had felt all summer—everything he had been too afraid to voice.
“I wanted to tell her,” Leehan murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. “I thought I had time.”
Your grandpa sighed, his hand still resting gently on Leehan’s shoulder. “Sometimes, we think we have all the time in the world. But life… it doesn’t always wait for us.”
Leehan’s gaze lingered on the empty road, his heart heavy with regret. He had planned everything so carefully—every detail of the beach date, every moment leading up to his confession. But now, it felt like it had slipped through his fingers like sand.
"Leehan!" he heard the familiar scream of Jaehyun; actually, all of his friends were running to him with smiles on their faces. Jaehyun was faster than the rest, a paper in his hand shoving in his face.
"God, MyungJae, what is that?"
"Read it!" He took the paper and read it, his energy below zero slowly going up. He could feel the relief when he read, "We are glad to have you, Kim Dong Hyun, at our university."
"I got in," he said, a small smile on his face.
"We all did! We're going to Seoul, baby!" Woonhak screamed, and that's when a bulb turned on Leehan's head. A soft touch on his shoulder made him look at the old man.
"I think you actually have a chance to give her the flowers."
Leehan’s heart raced as the realization hit him. Seoul. He was going to Seoul. The very place you were headed. He had a chance—maybe not to stop you from leaving, but to find you again, to tell you everything he had kept bottled up all summer.
He looked at his friends, who were all celebrating, but his mind was already somewhere else. Turning to your grandpa, who still had that knowing smile on his face, Leehan felt a surge of determination.
“I need to go after her,” he said, voice shaky but full of resolve.
Your grandpa chuckled softly, nodding. “I figured as much. Go on, son. She’ll be glad to see you.”
— : ☆
A month. That’s how long it had been since you last saw Leehan. No messages, no updates from your grandfather—just an aching silence that grew heavier with each passing day. And now, here you were, standing on the familiar beach in Seoul, the same place you came to clear your head. The sky was a fading blend of soft orange and pink, slowly surrendering to the approaching night.
The dress you wore felt like a relic from a time that felt both distant and painfully close—the same dress from that unforgettable beach date with Leehan. Nostalgia coursed through your veins, memories of that night replaying in your mind as the sound of the waves whispered around you.
You sighed, kicking at the sand as you walked closer to the water, unsure why you had returned here tonight. It was as if some invisible thread had pulled you back to this place, as if the universe wasn’t quite done with the story between you and him.
The soft crash of waves filled the silence, and for a moment, you let yourself get lost in the rhythm of the ocean, your thoughts drifting like the tide.
"That area is off-limits, young lady."
Your heart skipped, your breath catching in your throat as you whipped around at the familiar voice. And there he was, standing a few feet away, wearing that same teasing, lopsided smile that had made you fall for him in the first place. Leehan.
He looked a little different now—more mature, like the month apart had shifted something in him. But his eyes still held that spark, that mischievous glint you had come to adore.
“Leehan?” You breathed, your heart pounding so hard you thought it might burst from your chest.
He gave you a small shrug, his hands tucked casually in his pockets as he took a step closer. “What? You didn’t think I’d just disappear, did you? Especially after all the trouble I went through for that beach date.”
You couldn’t help the smile that tugged at your lips, your chest filling with warmth. “I thought you might’ve forgotten about me.”
His eyebrows shot up, a look of mock offense crossing his face. “Forgotten? You, lifeguard?” He stepped even closer, until he was standing right in front of you, his voice dropping to a soft murmur. “Impossible.”
Your heart swelled at his words, and for a moment, all the hurt and uncertainty from the past month seemed to melt away. But there was still one question you couldn’t shake.
“What are you doing here, Leehan?” You asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
He smiled, that teasing grin never leaving his face as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small bouquet of flowers. “Well, your grandpa might’ve told me a little secret. Something about how you always come here when you need to think.”
You blinked, your chest tightening at the thought of your grandpa playing matchmaker. “He told you where to find me?”
Leehan chuckled, shaking his head as he handed you the flowers. “Yeah, he’s pretty sneaky for an old guy.”
You took the bouquet, feeling the softness of the petals between your fingers, your heart racing at the thought that he had come all this way just for you. But before you could say anything, Leehan stepped closer, his expression softening, his voice turning serious.
“I’m so sorry,” he blurted out, his voice rough with regret. “For not calling, for not texting… for disappearing. I—I wanted to. Every single day, I wanted to reach out, but I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t know if you’d even want to hear from me after I let you down.”
Your heart clenched at the sincerity in his voice. You had been angry at first, hurt by his silence, but now, seeing him like this, so vulnerable and broken by his own mistakes, you couldn’t hold on to that anger.
“I missed you,” you said softly, the truth of it spilling from your lips before you could stop it. “I missed you so much, Leehan.”
His eyes softened at your words, but the guilt in his expression remained. “I missed you too. Every day. And I hated myself for not telling you, for letting my own fear keep me from you.”
He took a step closer, his hand reaching out to gently cup your cheek. His touch was warm, familiar, and it sent a shiver down your spine.
"I messed up," he started, his voice quiet but heavy with emotion. "I should have called you the moment you left. Every day, I wanted to text you, to hear your voice, to know how you were doing… but I didn’t. I thought giving you space was the right thing. I thought I was being respectful, but honestly, I was just scared."
His thumb grazed over your knuckles, his touch soft, almost hesitant. "I was scared that maybe you'd moved on. Maybe I was just some summer fling to you and that the second you left for Seoul, I’d be forgotten. But I never forgot you. Not for a single second."
His voice cracked, and he paused, his eyes brimming with unshed tears. "Every time I looked at the ocean, I thought of you. I thought about the way you used to look at it, like it was a part of you, and all I could think was how much I missed you. How much I miss us."
You felt your heart tighten at his words, the weight of his confession sinking deep into your chest. He let out a shaky breath, stepping closer, his hands still holding yours as if he were afraid to let go.
"You have no idea how much I regret not picking up the phone and telling you how I felt. Because, God, I am so in love with you. I love the way you laugh when you think no one’s listening, the way you get lost in your thoughts when you're staring at the waves, the way you make everything feel right. I’ve loved you for so long, and I can’t keep pretending that I don’t."
His gaze softened, and his voice grew even quieter. "I’m sorry for making you think I didn’t care, for being such a coward. But I can’t let you walk away again without telling you how much you mean to me."
He took a deep breath, his grip tightening just a little as he leaned in, his voice steady but filled with an overwhelming tenderness.
"I love you, lifeguard."
The world seemed to fall away in that moment, the weight of his words settling over you like a gentle breeze. Your heart pounded in your chest, a mix of emotions swirling inside you—joy, relief, and love. You had waited so long to hear those words, and now that they were here, everything felt right.
A slow smile spread across your lips as you looked up at him, your hand tightening in his. “I love you too, Leehan.”
His eyes sparkled with happiness, and before you could say anything else, he closed the distance between you, his lips brushing softly against yours. The kiss was gentle at first, filled with the sweetness of first love, but as the moments passed, it deepened, filled with all the emotions you had both kept hidden for so long.
When you finally pulled away, Leehan rested his forehead against yours, a playful grin tugging at the corners of his mouth. “You know, I’ve been waiting a long time to do that.”
You laughed softly, your heart feeling lighter than it had in weeks. “I’m glad you finally did.”
He chuckled, his arms wrapping around you as he pulled you close. “Get used to it, lifeguard. I’m not going anywhere this time.”
"What do you mean?" He cleared his throat and looked at you.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you. I got in, to the university."
Leehan laughed as you wrapped your arms around him, your excitement evident as you squeezed him tightly. The bouquet of flowers had tumbled onto the sand, their petals scattered around as you held him close.
“You got in?” You asked, your voice muffled against his chest.
He nodded, a bright smile on his face. “Yep. Me, Jaehyun, Woonhak… all six of us got in. Last month was moving everything and paper work. So, it looks like we’re both headed in the same direction.”
You pulled back slightly to look up at him, your eyes wide with surprise and joy. “You’re really here.”
Leehan’s grin widened as he nodded again. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
A wave of happiness washed over you, the feeling of his presence comforting and reassuring. “I’m so glad you’re here, Leehan.”
"And you know why?" You had a feeling of what was about to come. "Because you love me," he said, doing a small dance in front of you. This time, you laughed, your heart jumping in joy.
"Yeah, I do love you, surfer." He kept on dancing, so you took him by the collar of the shirt and kissed him once more.
Leehan’s laughter mingled with the rhythmic sound of the waves, filling the evening air with a playful melody. He stopped dancing when you pulled him closer, your lips meeting his in a kiss that spoke volumes. His lips were warm, and the kiss was both tender and teasing, full of the longing you both had felt over the past month.
As you broke away, he looked at you with a smirk. “You know, I’ve been practicing my dance moves just for this moment.”
You laughed, your eyes sparkling. “And here I thought you were just trying to impress me.”
Leehan’s grin widened, his fingers tracing light patterns on your arm. “Oh, trust me, impressing you is just the beginning. I’ve got a whole repertoire of moves I’ve been saving for our next date.”
Your heart skipped a beat at the thought of future moments with him. Hand in hand, you both walked along the shore, the waves gently lapping at your feet. The night was filled with laughter, flirtatious glances, and the promise of a future together. The summer might be ending, but with Leehan by your side, every moment felt like the beginning of a beautiful adventure.

summary : it was nights like these that brought you firsts, and now you'd finally realized the significance of your feelings for him
genre : fluff, riwoo x afab!reader, childhood-friends-to-lovers tws : mentions of alcohol/being drunk, kiss author notes : i want him so bad (based on a date i had with my pookie yesterday) word count : 1.2k
first dates weren’t really your thing. you didn't like having to explain all the things that made up you, while also being overly conscious of whether they’d like it or not. you despised the small talk or awkward pauses. you dreaded having to wonder what if this or what if that.
but now that you were on a first date with one of your closest friends, you had no idea what to do. he already knew everything about your personal lore—hell, he’d been there for half of it. he knew your favorite flavor of dr. pepper and what movie you’d been dying to see. you didn’t have to wonder if he liked you. you didn’t have to worry about if he’d think the sound you made while sneezing was weird or cute. or if he’d text you back the next day.
however, you did wonder when he’d started to see you in a different light. you wondered where the lines started to blur, almost like watercolor. you wondered when you stopped just being a friend to him. you even almost asked, promptly stopping yourself from opening a can of worms you weren’t sure you were prepared to clean up.
there was a first for everything though, and dating a friend definitely was—especially someone as perfect as riwoo, someone as kind and gentle as your closest guy-friend. you were always that person who told him to never settle for the girls who literally ate him alive. you were always the one who would try and set him up with nice enough people (to your standards) that you’d met during nights out or classes. you were always the person who kept it casual—strictly platonic—but through stolen glances you couldn't say it was, now.
“is this weird?” riwoo’s soft voice snapped you from your reverie. “is this too weird?”
your eyebrows creased. “no,” you stated simply. “just… unexpected.”
he leaned back on his hands. “why’s that?” his head aimed to the sky, dusk settling onto it.
you relished in the warmth of the setting sun, a shiver running throughout your body. “just because…” you trailed off, taking in the lustrous green of early august. this was one of your favorite parks, and riwoo knew that. that’s exactly why he suggested meeting you here. “i guess, i never expected it to be me.”
through your peripheral you could see his eyebrows scrunch in confusion. “why wouldn’t it be you, y/n?” your cheeks heated at his words, fighting the urge to shy away in embarrassment. “it’s always been you.”
“oh…” you whispered out, mimicking his lean as you sat next to him. you tried to distract from the fact that your insides were twisting and how your heart beat ever-so-slightly faster. you’d never seen him casted under such a beautiful light—literally and metaphorically. the sky was a breathtaking mixture of pink and orange hues, clouds fluffy like the fair cotton candy that you and riwoo would eat once a year together when it’d stop in your town.
truthfully, you’d also never felt this way about anyone. you’d known riwoo for the better part of your life and he’d always been your closest confidant. of course there was one point when you’d developed a very, very (obviously, very) small crush on him during your freshman year. how could you not? you weren’t blind, after all. nonetheless, you swallowed that as quickly as it had rose, ultimately deciding that being friends was better than something that could potentially end complicated.
you wondered if he had weighed the odds. you wondered when the feelings grew strong enough to cast away any doubts of it not working out. if he was willing to take the risk. you wondered when his heart began to beat for you. and you wondered when yours started the same rhythm.
was it when he started to work out, changing from the awkward boy you’d met in middle school to the well-defined abs and arms now? was it when he started to smile with his eyes, opening up to everyone around him? was it when he became sure of himself, full of confidence? or when he’d pay attention to every little detail about you, remembering things you sometimes would forget about yourself? was it when he walked with you everyday in highschool? or when you got drunk for the first time and kissed him in the parking lot of a krispy kreme your sophomore year?
or maybe it was none—and all of them combined—that solidified the feelings deep within you. you always knew it somewhere deep down, that all your past lovers resembled him in one way or another. he was someone you always kept close, even if he wasn’t with you.
“y/n,” he asked breathily, basking in the final moments before the sun had fully set. “can i ask you something?” but if the question of which was prettier—the man at your side or the sunset in front of you—were to ever arise, you fear the answer would be simple: riwoo, with his soft features, confident aura, and gentle personality. every time.
you bit the inside of your cheek. “yes.”
“why’d you try and set me up throughout high school?”
if he had asked you a couple days ago, you would’ve been sure of your answer, but now that he was looking into your side-profile, scanning you over, you weren’t so sure. it used to be because you wanted him to have someone kind who treated him the way you knew he’d treat them. you wanted him to be happily in love, and off the market… so he could finally be off your mind.
“i just wanted you to find someone nice. i’m sorry if i overstepped.”
he hummed contemplatively, clearly not satisfied with your answer. “can i ask you something else?”
you fought with gulping a dry throat. “sure.”
“why’d you say yes if that was the case?” your heart felt like it skipped a beat. “are you that someone nice now?”
your eyes met, time freezing in the lingering heat of summer. you had never felt warmer. there was no doubt a blush was littering your cheeks, hands shaking against the blanket you had brought from the backseat of your car.
“can i ask you something, riwoo?” you ignored his question, though he didn’t seem to mind, humming in acceptance. your eyes flickered to a place you shouldn't have dreamt about, but his lips always looked so inviting. and, from what you could remember, they lived up to the reputation you made up in your head all those years ago. “...can i kiss you?”
darkness had set, the lamps following the bike path lighting up in sync. it was cinematic, and you would have laughed at the clicheness of the situation if you weren't so focused on your distance that gradually closed. all the surrounding sounds; crickets chirping and cicadas singing, even kids' screeches from the nearby playground faded out, like it was only you two on the entire planet.
“if you’ll be mine?”
before your lips could touch, you mumbled, “have been for a while,” against him, meeting halfway. It was like fireworks went off inside you, setting your heart aflame and illuminating the stars behind your eyes. he knew you were perfect for him, and you’d never (ever) thought the opposite of him. his touch was something soft that grounded all your worries. it always had been. his voice was the sole thing that pulled you out of dark places, it always had been. and it always would be.
there was a first for everything, but you were glad it was riwoo on the other end. after all, it was the summer-nights like these that you’d grow to remember forever.

what breaks them after a break up ・ 보이넥스트도어 ex!gender neutral reader + word count 0.6k genre angst no comfort cw not proof-read — more 🕸
JAEHYUN 명재현
he knew he should have just stayed home, it was a mistake to let himself be persuaded by sungho. and he only has himself to blame as he downs another drink, watching as you giggle another quiet whisper into another man's ear
we all know jaehyun wears his heart on his sleeve, his emotions raw, so evident. all this time, the pain, a dull ache he's been trying to push down comes back up.
he's angry? and sad, tired, and jealous. he feels his heart shatter, gripping desperately to pick up and glue the pieces back together. and he finds himself crying in his arms, his other hand gripped against the empty glass of alcohol.
he wants to hate you. he really does, he wants to hate you for moving on so quickly. hate you for the way you walked out so easily, the way you smile while he's still suffering and himself for losing you, himself for letting you go.
and he peeks at you for a bit. would you still laugh with him the way you laugh at them? would you still smile at him the way you smile at them?
but what really breaks him, what tears him apart, is that he sees you're looking at them the same way you used to look at him.
SUNGHO 박성호
it happens on a sunny morning where sungho starts his day as normal; makes his bed, washes his face, brushes his teeth, takes a shower and goes into the kitchen to make his breakfast
except there are two plates, two meals, two glasses of water but only one person at the table. it was a habit, an old one. sungho laughs at himself — a horrible, empty sound — and tears sting his eyes as he looks down at the food.
he thinks he looks stupid. dumb even, the table is set for two but he’s the only one eating. and it hits him, again and again, that you’re no longer with him.
the break up itself is a blur – all he remembers is the feeling, really. the defensiveness that swelled up and burst from inside his chest, the way he said some things he’d meant and other things he didn’t.
and sungho swallows hard. a sad smile drawing itself on his lips before he eats a bite. the house, it feels — he feels so empty without you.
there’s a shaky sigh that leaves his lips, as he downs his drink. it breaks him that he won’t have it anymore, he won’t have you anymore.
RIWOO 이상혁
it's when he listens to the playlist you made together; all the songs he liked best now reminded him of you, each lyric and sound had a little bit of you that made him break.
he knows it’s not healthy, he knows it’s not right and that he should just let go. but sanghyeok has the tiniest sliver of hope that maybe, just maybe you’ll come back to him.
and hits back his head rested against the top of the chair. he chokes up a silent cry, trying to distract himself from anything and everything. his nail presses deep into his finger, maybe it’s just a dream. just a dream, right?
he angrily wipes away his tears threatening to fall down. no hugs. no kisses. no sound of you softly humming to the music while you dance with him in the living room.
and it’s all his fault. would things have changed if he had just listened to you? would you still be together?
it’s quiet. and the room is empty. he feels empty. sanghyeok’s his fingers glide to the volume button. and now as the playlist shuffles and another song plays, the same songs that you dedicated to each other horribly reminds him that you’re never, ever coming back.
TAESAN 한동민
it hits him when he's met with your voicemail. his hair disheveled, still in pajamas, phone pressed to his ear. dongmin practically jumped out of bed at the exciting news he got.
and before he knows it, he's clicked your contact, a grin painted across his face. it became a habit when he hears good news that makes him so excited -- his first instinct is to call you and tell you about it, but the phone rings, and rings, and rings
then it hits, finally it comes to him that the two of you aren’t together anymore and his smile disappears, and tears start forming in his eyes, and his lips start to quiver and it's too late, he hears your voice mail and oh god, he doesn't know how long it's been since he's heard your voice
dongmin didn't mean to say all those things, he didn't mean to say it was over between you two. he's quick to wipe his tears, but they keep coming and soon enough he's crying into the phone.
it's becoming all too familiar, how long has he seen you? when was the last time he held you? he feels like he might just break down right then. dongmin hopes you'll listen to the voicemail and call him, just once.
LEEHAN 김동현
it’s when he finds a note from you, tucked away in his jacket pocket. it didn’t say much, just a slight reminder to take care of himself and be safe, with a small heart and your name, scrawled onto it. it’s a bit crumpled and faded but he can recognise the small my love, written next to his name.
the weakened adhesive is already starting to peel off, softly, slowly and donghyun swallows hard. he finally lets out a dry laugh, knowing he won’t be able to take good care of himself even as you wanted.
and his fingers brush across the paper ever so lightly, tears stinging his eyes, biting back a cry.
but he fails, he fails like he had failed you and feels an actual ache in his heart as he thinks about the smile on your face you had, while you were writing the small note.
it’s blurry, he can’t see the note but he holds it so preciously in his hands. he can’t take care of himself, not when you took a part of him with you.
WOONHAK 김운학
it's when he's curled up under his blanket, late at night, looking through your social media
he just wants to see if you're doing okay, is what he tells himself. what he keeps telling himself.
and when he looks at your Instagram feed and sees that his pictures and your couple photos are no longer there -- it's the realization that it's really over; traces of him erased from your social media and your life.
knuckles white gripping the blanket, sobs start to leave his lips. and he tries to hide it, but his screen becomes blurry and tears start staining his cheeks.
and woonhak curls himself further, going back to his own feed to see what you guys once were, crying a string of sorry's, before shakily pressing the 'delete' button on all of them.

𐙚 boynextdoor - favorite place to kiss you
hyung line - maknae line
warnings: none. just pure lovey dovey stuff.
a/n: in a boynextdoor brainrot rn, so I wrote this to feed into my delusions.
more under the cut!
✿ Sungho (성호) - back
He's so sweet. And he cares about you so much, you're his baby. He loves kissing you everywhere, but one of the spots that drive him (and you) crazy is your back, and your spine.
He usually just holds you waist and kiss your cheek when you're in public, but when the two of you are alone, sprawled out on the bed, he won't miss the opportunity to lay down over you and kiss your back: your shoulder blades, and your whole spine.
The two of you will eventually fall asleep like this, with his face buried in your waist and your hand in his hair.
✿ Riwoo (리우) - cheeks
Shy boy, he will be too embarrassed to kiss you on the lips, so he sticks to your cheeks. He will soon discover that's his favourite place to kiss you: feeling your pretty cheeks under his lips, all soft and squishy.
He will hold them both with his hands, and squish your cheeks together, whining at how cute you are and at how you're almost as cute as him. He would occasionally even slightly bite them, just because "you're too adorable it makes me wanna bite you."
✿ Jaehyun (재현) - neck
This boy is a TEASE. He loves making you go crazy, everywhere and every time. So, what better way than giving you a handful of neck kisses? He became his favourite place after he discovers, by accident, how ticklish and sensitive you are in a specific place of your neck. And now, he doesn't waste any occasion to nibble and leave light kisses on your neck, just to drink into your reaction.
He loves the way you get so flustered about it, kissing your neck purposely in front of the members just for them to see the effect he has on you.

he knows it’s not healthy, he knows it’s not right and that he should just let go. but sanghyeok has the tiniest sliver of hope that maybe, just maybe you’ll come back to him.
and hits back his head rested against the top of the chair. he chokes up a silent cry, trying to distract himself from anything and everything. his nail presses deep into his finger, maybe it’s just a dream. just a dream, right?
he angrily wipes away his tears threatening to fall down. no hugs. no kisses. no sound of you softly humming to the music while you dance with him in the living room.
and it’s all his fault. would things have changed if he had just listened to you? would you still be together?
it’s quiet. and the room is empty. he feels empty. sanghyeok’s his fingers glide to the volume button. and now as the playlist shuffles and another song plays, the same songs that you dedicated to each other horribly reminds him that you’re never, ever coming back.
TAESAN 한동민
it hits him when he's met with your voicemail. his hair disheveled, still in pajamas, phone pressed to his ear. dongmin practically jumped out of bed at the exciting news he got.
and before he knows it, he's clicked your contact, a grin painted across his face. it became a habit when he hears good news that makes him so excited -- his first instinct is to call you and tell you about it, but the phone rings, and rings, and rings
then it hits, finally it comes to him that the two of you aren’t together anymore and his smile disappears, and tears start forming in his eyes, and his lips start to quiver and it's too late, he hears your voice mail and oh god, he doesn't know how long it's been since he's heard your voice
dongmin didn't mean to say all those things, he didn't mean to say it was over between you two. he's quick to wipe his tears, but they keep coming and soon enough he's crying into the phone.
it's becoming all too familiar, how long has he seen you? when was the last time he held you? he feels like he might just break down right then. dongmin hopes you'll listen to the voicemail and call him, just once.
LEEHAN 김동현
it’s when he finds a note from you, tucked away in his jacket pocket. it didn’t say much, just a slight reminder to take care of himself and be safe, with a small heart and your name, scrawled onto it. it’s a bit crumpled and faded but he can recognise the small my love, written next to his name.
the weakened adhesive is already starting to peel off, softly, slowly and donghyun swallows hard. he finally lets out a dry laugh, knowing he won’t be able to take good care of himself even as you wanted.
and his fingers brush across the paper ever so lightly, tears stinging his eyes, biting back a cry.
but he fails, he fails like he had failed you and feels an actual ache in his heart as he thinks about the smile on your face you had, while you were writing the small note.
it’s blurry, he can’t see the note but he holds it so preciously in his hands. he can’t take care of himself, not when you took a part of him with you.
WOONHAK 김운학
it's when he's curled up under his blanket, late at night, looking through your social media
he just wants to see if you're doing okay, is what he tells himself. what he keeps telling himself.
and when he looks at your Instagram feed and sees that his pictures and your couple photos are no longer there -- it's the realization that it's really over; traces of him erased from your social media and your life.
knuckles white gripping the blanket, sobs start to leave his lips. and he tries to hide it, but his screen starts to become blurry and tears start staining his cheeks.
and woonhak curls himself further, going back to his own feed to see what you guys once were, crying a string of sorry's, before shakily pressing the 'delete' button on all of them.

ALL HIS LOVE ㅤㅤㅤ☆ ㅤ —﹙ l.sh ﹚
WHEN ㅤ,ㅤ riwoo makes you happy in the simplest ways !
ㅤㅤ ᶻzㅤ( x reader ) 𓂃 ㅤ fluff angst estb. rl. ㅤ drabbleㅤ warnings reader has depression ㅤ⋆ ( 390 wc ) ㅤ❟❟ㅤ library ㅤ bnd shelfㅤ navi
Loving Riwoo makes you happy. He makes it so simple, so easy it almost hurts you. Loving Sanghyeok is like a tune, starting off slow, beautiful, soft and then suddenly a jazz melody plays, it is fun, lively and it is so smooth, so natural you wouldn’t even notice the change. You never understood why he gave you his love like this.
You don’t even know how anyone can love you. It makes you almost want to ask him- why would he gift you his love like a never-ending credit. A thing you can never repay. You are not the type to be loved. You have a life which is full of emptiness, potholes of mistakes and burnt houses. You are lost in your own salvations, your life a mix of chaos you can never resolve and the days a mixture of untended feelings and messy emotions.
How many time have you thought of finally letting go of the roots of negativity grounding you? How many times have you thought of finally bringing yourself together and sort everything in your life out? Why were they so hard before? And why are they so easy now that you are with Sanghyeok? His presence, his touch, his breath is like a new life, it gives you hope, it makes you happier and brings a new rush of life into you. Happy, the simplest emotion, hardest to achieve, yet with Sanghyeok it’s like running in a field with no issues haunting your mind. It’s free!
He has done something you never dreamt someone could do, he has been patient, clawed down the walls you built so high to protect yourself and he has trudged the burnt grounds of your soul only for them to grow flowers all over it. Your hollow chaos has changed into the melody of living again.
So when he says your wasteland is his paradise you can’t help but get lost. In his eyes, in his soul and in his love. You give him the one thing you can think of giving- a song of running away. You keep your unkempt emotions aside, crush down your insecurities for once and gift him one piece of your soul, a piece that belongs to the mischief, the slight hesitation and the madness in running away with the love of your life.

between the lines
pairing. academic rival!taesan x reader genre. fluff word count. 1.3k warnings. reader is sick, reader calls taesan a prick, he is kinda a prick (but fluff triumphs all 🙏) a/n. it's necessary for their dynamic but no actual rivalry is emphasized here... (for my fellow academic rivals-to-lovers enthusiasts... ill cook up sth soon) pt.2 | masterlist
taesan is flustered.
you and taesan had never really had an amicable relationship. to put it into perspective, you'd rather spend hours editing the mess of a report your equally-messy groupmates wrote, than spend hours working together with han taesan—the student well-known for submitting flawless and only flawless pieces of work.
it wasn't always like this. of course it wasn't. who in their right mind would prefer to add 'babysitting adults' onto their plate that's already filled to the brim, instead of making their life easier by grouping with an academic weapon?
but working with han taesan is not for everyone.
actually, scratch that. working with han taesan is not for you.
you don't know what you did, but you're almost 100% sure he has a personal vendetta against you. for such a pretty face, his mouth only spits out the nastiest of things, at least to you.
actually, scratch that again. han taesan only does that to you.
because you shared all the core modules with him, you had foolishly decided to group up with him for all the assignments you had in your first semester of university. to put it simply, that was probably the worst decision you’d made in your life.
why? for every idea you gave, he'd step over with another. for every suggestion you offered, he'd pinpoint every aspect to shut it down. sure, he may have had better ideas, but you didn't think it was necessary to stomp at your input so readily. you definitely didn't think it was necessary to smirk like he'd won a battle after every instance.
you thought you'd be able to escape his belittling remarks and irritating smugness after that one semester, but why did he have to share the same plans as you as well? the day you stepped into the student council office and saw him sitting in the seat next to yours, you already felt dread clawing at you.
fast forward to the present, you're both running for student president for the next year. you had already lost the role of vice president to him this year, so you're determined to not let him pick at you again. not that he could even if he wanted to, because you practically transform into an iron shield whenever he enters your vision (which is more times than you'd liked, considering you share the same environment with him everywhere. he seems to enjoy this, though).
you've been preparing diligently for your student president pitch, but that's also on top of having 5 tight assignment deadlines and planning the biannual festival happening in the next month. for the past weeks, the student council office had turned into your place to work, eat, and even sleep, though the last was never intentional.
today, again, you're sitting at your desk, your laptop opened in front of you, but it’s unlike usual—a cup of hot-turned-lukewarm tea next to you, a pile of tissues scattered around the table, an oversized hoodie draped over your frame, your sniffles echoing across the empty room, and your body which felt heavier than usual.
you've tried your hardest fighting the urge to fall asleep, the dimness of the room not helping, but when the clock struck 3, you decide to give yourself mercy and lean forward, resting your head on your arms over the table. it's far from comfortable; your back is aching, your neck is sore, your nose is uncooperative, and the screech of the door is hurting your head.
you open your eyes briefly at the intruder by the door. they're frozen for a beat, as if surprised to see you there, then they’re tilting their head in what seems to be confusion. soon, they're taking small steps towards you. you should be alarmed, but your defenses have shut down from the fatigue, so all you can think is that if you die, you hope you die a climactic death.
the intruder, thankfully, does not appear to have any intent of killing you. they are, however, intent on disturbing you.
“y/n?” there's a soft tap on your shoulder. you squint, trying to decipher the blurry face in front of you before deciding against it. your act of protest comes out as a small whine that unintentionally escapes the back of your dry throat.
the figure stands there in shock, hand hovering your back. they blink a few times, as if trying to register what they just heard, before they decide to squat next to you, patting your shoulder again.
“y/n? don't sleep here.” the voice is familiar, but uncharacteristically soft. and fond. why is it fond?
you open your eyes again. seeing han taesan mere inches away from your face is something you'd never expect, but you're too tired to even be shocked. instead, you blink slowly, as if you're a newborn reacting to stimuli you've never experienced before.
“han taesan,” you mumble against your arm. your voice comes out nasally from your cold and as a result, more whiny than usual.
“y–yes?” he ignores the stutter and moves his hand to brush away the strands of hair covering your face. it comes so naturally that he freezes when he realises and quickly pulls his hand back to himself.
“prick.” you shut your eyes as you say this, missing the widening of his eyes. “annoying.”
he frowns, “i'm annoying?”
“very.” you don't miss a beat to reply. “why do i have to see you everywhere . . . .” you trail off, your voice decreasing in volume as you speak.
taesan is silent for a few moments, during which the only sounds that can be heard are the tick-tock of the clock and the whirs of the air conditioner. he takes one glance at your hoodie and the tissues around you before promptly turning off the AC.
“fine,” he huffs as he stands up. “i’ll be annoying for a bit more.” he taps your shoulder again. “go home. you can't sleep here. it's so late.”
the deprivation of sleep is getting to you, because your immediate response to him is to let out another whine that would immediately shatter your image of the cool senior and president-to-be if anyone heard you.
which, of course, brings us back to the first line.
taesan is flustered.
he's never seen you this… babyish before. ever since the first semester, all you would entertain him with were glares, furrowed eyebrows, and the occasional roll of your eyes if you were really salty. you had never been this defenseless around him, to which he feels something tug at his chest.
he stretches his lips into a line and squats down again. “what do you want me to do then?” his voice is soft. too soft. “i’m not letting you sleep overnight here.”
you slowly open your eyes, sniffling as you look at him in disbelief. “if you're not willing to carry me home, just go.” you shut your eyes again.
it's silent once again. at this, you dig your face deeper into your arms, having zero expectations. you furrow your eyebrows slightly when you hear shuffles above you, followed by the clash of stationeries, the crackle of the plastic bag used as your trash bin, the sudden cease of the whirring of your laptop fan, and finally the sound of a zipper.
you open your eyes in time to see taesan cupping your face in one hand and pulling your arm with the other to make you sit up. you let yourself be handled without evident resistance, though your confusion is blatant. once he sees that you're up, he quickly squats down in front of you, back facing you.
“climb up. this annoying prick will carry you home.”
a/n. this may or may not be insanely self-indulgent due to a cold i may or may not have. i also may or may not have thoughts about a pt. 2. (edit: pt. 2 is out!)
anw, first post! just fitting for it to be about han taesan bcs this man (read: bnd as a whole) has been living in my brain for the past month (case in point: me literally writing this note at 3am when my headache is killing me).
i hope this was as enjoyable to read as it was for me to write <3

break up 𐀔 boynextdoor
genre : angst ⋆ warnings : break up, tears ⋆ word count : 774
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ୨ ✩ ୧
park sungho ⭒ the one who lets you go
at first, all sungho did was listen to you as attentively as possible, shaking his head. he memorized your words, understood your reproaches, problems. he understood your point of view and what led you to your final decision — and even though the idea of losing you drove him crazy, he was willing to let you go if it meant your happiness. all that ever mattered to him was that you were happy every day of your life, so if he no longer made you happy, it was absolutely out of the question for him to hold you back. but even though he watched you go with a heavy heart, he never regretted letting you find a better life.
lee riwoo ⭒ the one who begs you to stay
« you can't do this to me y/n. listen, i can fix that.. please, let me try. » was sanghyeok's reaction when he heard you tell him you wanted to break up. tears rolled down your cheeks, and only he knew how much that simple sight broke his heart — he was determined to make things right, to rectify his mistakes and heal your wounded heart. he couldn't give up without trying, and he was convinced that the two of you would be able to repair your relationship. « i'm sorry, i'll be a better boyfriend for you. forgive me y/n, will you? » he said, and you could hear through the crack of his voice how sincere he was, which made you think that maybe he'd be able to save what you'd worked so hard to build together.
myung jaehyun ⭒ the one who cries
you saw it the second you started your sentence, his eyes filling with tears. jaehyun has never been good at hiding his emotions — and you would have loved not to be so touched by mere drops of water. because the second you saw them rolling down his cheeks, you wanted to take him in your arms and console all his sorrows : but one tear led to another, they now flowed down your face. then it was his turn to approach you, wiping away your tears with his fingers, reminding you why you loved him so much, and why you didn't want to lose him. « i promise i'll try harder to give you a better love story, but please y/n.. don't break up with me. » you didn't know if continuing was a good idea, but at the time, your heart felt too weak to lose the half it'd been close to for so long.
han taesan ⭒ the one who dares not react
when you announced that you wanted to break up with, even the neighbors probably heard dongmin's heart breaking. and the words aren't used in vain : it really did break into lots of little pieces, while the boy just watched you without saying a word. he didn't dare make the slightest movement, or say the slightest thing, he was completely petrified. his heart was screaming at him to hold your hand, apologize and make things right with you — but the voice in his head and the muscles in his body ordered him to do nothing, and simply to endure. and it was when he heard you slam the door to his house that he realized it was all over, that his heart would probably stay broken for a long time to come because of his lack of reaction.
kim leehan ⭒ the one who doesn't know what to say
donghyun remained silent throughout : watching you with lost eyes trying to understand what was really happening. why were you breaking up with him? had he done something wrong? he had so many questions to ask — but his throat was completely knotted, as if no sound could escape. he didn't know what to say or how to react, it was so unexpected and unthinkable, that he didn't know what to think. and even when you started to get up to walk away from him, turn on your heels and sign the official end of your relationship, he didn't know what to say to hold you back, and let you go without a word from him.
kim woonhak ⭒ the one who don't believe you
a laugh to leave his lips when he heard your words : you, wanting to break up with him? woonhak couldn't believe his ears. but when he saw how sad and serious you looked, the poor boy soon lost his boyish smile. something was wrong : why would you want to break up with him when everything seemed to be going so well between you? so he frowned, reaching for your hand, which you quickly pulled away. « you're kidding, right? » he asked as you looked away, excusing yourself just before slipping away — leaving him completely alone with a thousand unanswered questions.

ring ring ring!
yn ln groans, an arm reaching out from under her covers to grab her phone that sat over on her bedside table. she winces when she's greeted by the bright light, moving her fingers to swipe at the screen, lowering the brightness and shutting off her morning alarm in record speed.
it's 7 am.
on any regular day, the girl wouldn't even dream of getting up this early- in fact, to her, anyone who gets up before 9 after completing highschool must be a total loser! or...maybe...someone who's got their life together...but that's besides the point. the point is that today was very different from any other day. today was the day! the day yn ln was going to meet the six silly boys she dreamed of every night as she went to bed and thought of every second she stood awake. maybe she loved them so much, or maybe it was because she had taken it upon herself to decorate the walls of her room with the large posters of them she had gotten from the one too many albums she spent all her paychecks on. nonetheless, at least to her, this was a big day- a huge day, even. i mean it's finally happening, a smile on her sleepy face as she's met with the countdown notification.
'yn x boynextdoor! D-DAY!'
it all started about two weeks ago. the girl was going through what had to be the worst few days of her whole entire life. she was laid off at work for two days straight, her salad wasn't crunchy at lunch, she totally forgot to hang her laundry out to dry, and on top of that she got a coffee stain on her brand new white shirt. it was bad, terrible even! all she could do was give up for a moment, calling in sick at work and laying in bed all day just re-watching 'what?door!' for the hundredth time, munching on a tub of neapolitan ice cream and giggling over whatever dad joke her bias, riwoo, said. things were starting to feel alright again. the same way it always did when she was watching those six boys on the screen laugh and yell at each other over silly games. oh how she'd give anything to meet them...
just as the thought crossed her mind, a gift from whoever watched her from above fell into the palm of her hands- well, not literally, but you get what i mean. yn furrowed her eyebrows as a text from her best-friend in the whole world appeared on her phone.
bestie<3
YYNNNNNN!!! big news!!!!!!! yk how i won that ticket for the bnd fansign in two weeks?
the girl rolls her eyes, of course she knew, that's all her friend could boast about for the past few weeks! you see, this fellow onedoor that was texting her, she's one of those fans that seemed to always have their way with luck and winning fan-signs.
mhm, i'm aware...what abt it tho?
yn awaits a response, moving her finger over to the trackpad on her laptop to pause the video that was playing in the background.
bestie<3
well...what if i told u i hv to be somewhere tht day n i need someone (you) to fill in my spot at the fansign? hehe :D
and that's it. that's exactly the sequence of events that lead the chronic fangirl to this moment right now. at seven o' clock in the morning, getting up to prepare herself for the six boys that await her later that day.
"oh fuck...what do i even wear?!"
⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖
as it turns out, time moves a lot faster when you're anxious and excited. in record time, yn ln had found herself in a space full of fans just like her. the girl's heart beat out of her chest, body shaken and tears threatening to fall out of her eyes as she stood in the crowd. after contemplating her outfit choices for hours that morning, the girl decided to wear a nice pair of baggy cargo-pants and the baby blue jersey from the boy group's collaboration with the brand sandsound. she had her hair and make-up the way it normally was, the way she knew would look good. her hands wrap softly around her diy picket, a pretty heart-shaped one with none other that lee riwoo's face on the center of it- his face once again seen hanging on a pretty photocard holder on the strap of her bag. she was nervous, a sort of adrenaline rush coursing through her body when the people around her began to cheer, the silhouette of the six boys she loved so much emerging to the front of them.
"who's there? the boynextdoor! hello, we are boynextdoor"
the boys began their introductions, warming up to the crowd for about half an hour before they were supposed to start the fan-signing event. yn couldn't believe her eyes, she can't believe these people were real! she didn't want to be biased, but she truly could not focus on anyone else anymore, her gaze lingering over to the one boy who had her heart wrapped around his finger- he didn't even know it. lee riwoo looked even more handsome in real life, his aura screaming charisma as he spoke sweetly into his microphone. his hair a shade of brown that was almost ginger, a distinct mole below his eye that moved up a bit whenever he smiled, his smile that allowed for his little fangs to peak through. it sent the girl's heart flying! even more so, when his eyes turned a bit to meet with her own. maybe she was hallucinating in the moment, he could be staring at anyone! but she swore that for a second his gaze stuck onto her, a warm and fuzzy feeling engulfing the whole of her shaken body and a blush creeping onto her cheeks.
"okay, everyone joining the fan-signing event! please make a line over here in accordance to your given queue number. thank you" the staff called out through a microphone, waving his arm around to direct everyone over to one side of the venue. the members of the boy-group began to take their seats over on the long black table, another set of staff members preparing the albums, markers and post-it notes for the event.
once again, yn couldn't breathe. it felt as though all her dreams were finally becoming a reality. she didn't know what to do now, a sudden panic taking control of her brain as she stood in her spot in the line. 'what do i even say to them...?' - 'oh god i didn't think this far' - 'what if my mind completely goes blank?' - 'oh riwoo looks so good today' - 'what if throw up? or...or what if i...'
"NEXT!" the staff called out, gently tapping the girl on her back and signaling for her to move forward for her turn. 'oh i'm so fucked...'
honestly, it didn't go as badly as she thought it would. first on the table was jaehyun. he was so sweet, reassuring her that it was okay to be nervous and thanking her for her kind words. next was leehan who shot her his signature smile, giggling sheepishly at the compliments and praises the girl nervously told him. sungho and woonhak followed, listening intently to her every word as she slowly vocalized them. only two more members left! great! it wasn't so bad after all! or at least it wasn't so bad until she was face-to-face with the love of her whole life himself.
lee sanghyeok.
"hi....um...yn! yn, right?" the pretty boy said, searching for her name on the sticky note that was stuck onto the album. "uh- yeah...um...hi!...uh oh my god- sorry, i'm so..." she couldn't seem to speak, her whole mind going blank and malfunctioning as the boy in front of her smiled softly. "nervous?" he asked, a slight giggle escaping his lips as he did so. yn nods, "i'm sorry, you're just so handsome! and really cool and talented and i really love your dancing and your voice and even your dad jokes- even when they're not that funny sometimes and i really like your hair and uh- sorry, sorry i should stop now" the girl yapped on and on, suddenly going from not being able to speak to only speaking way too much. unbeknownst to her however, riwoo didn't find it annoying at all- in fact, it sparked some sort of a flame in the pit of his stomach. maybe it was the way she smiled at him, maybe it was the way she complimented him, maybe it was the way her hands shook as she spoke to him the way he noticed it didn't really for the other members. whatever it was, something about her peaked his interest.
"can...i...hold...your...hand...?" her question shakes him out of his thoughts. it appears the idol boy had zoned out, completely distracted by this girl in front of him. "huh? oh! uh...i-" he stutters, a sudden shyness taking over his complexion. the girl mentally slaps herself, "oh, i'm sorry...i you don't have to if you don't want to i mean it's obviously your choice i'm just- oh!" she stops talking when his hands slip over to grab her own, the feeling is warm, an electrifying sensation she's never felt before. and neither has he, the world around them going in slow-motion for a second as they paused into the moment. no words were exchanged, but the way their eyes pierced into one another's was enough to make sense of the situation.
"move along, please" the staff that stood behind the boys interrupted the moment, tilting his head to side as if to tell yn to hurry up. riwoo's eyes soften and he looks at her with some sort of look that read of disappointment, she furrows her eyebrows when he let's go of her hand to quickly jot something down on the page of the album that laid opened in front of him. "it was nice to meet you, yn" the boy said, a smile on his face. she returned the gesture, "nice to meet you too, riwoo- i love you!" she said finally, in a rush as the staff guided her over to the final member.
"hi!" she says, grinning from ear to ear as she sat down in front of taesan. they share sweet conversation, the boy thanking her for all her compliments. he looks down at the opened page for a moment and laughs, though she doesn't really know why, shooting him a perplexed expression. he shakes his head, looking up at her after signing her album. "looks like riwoo hyung has a crush on you or something..." the girl's eyes go wide, "what?!" is all she manages to muster out before the staff move to rush her out of the line. the last sight she saw was a cheeky smirk from han taesan and a lingering stare from the brown-haired riwoo beside him who waved.
the statement ran through her head for the next hour as she waits to retrieve the signed album from the pick-up booth. 'what could that menace possibly mean?' - 'he could be lying...right?' - 'he's probably just teasing me'
all her queries however were to be answered as she got the signed album in her hands, hastily flipping through the pages to find the message she didn't even know she was looking for. and there it was, right by a picture of his face in the photo-book, signed by the boy of her dreams himself...
'yn, it was nice to meet you :)...let's meet again some time? text me? (xxx-xxx-xxxx) love, riwoo'
huh...maybe he does have a crush on her or something...
the end.

Okay so guys so I need your help deciding who fits the criteria of this trope🤭
It’s gonna be called wet and wild, it’s a drabble. I’m thinking pervy pool cleaner boy blank x rich bratty fem reader, who’s a spoiled brat and gets whatever she wants, her rich father hired a pool cleaner, and being the little menace that she is, she seduces the pool cleaner and they end up fucking.

“Everyone can dance. I mean not everyone is good but everyone can dance.”
Your boyfriend is tired of this conversation. Everytime he wants you to come join him you just have to say that you can’t. If you just didn’t want to he’d understand but when you say “can’t” it’s so unlike your usual confidence he struggles to accept it.
He gets that performing isn’t for everyone but dancing is something that everyone can enjoy, and he simply wants to do it with you. He wants to twirl you around and imagine that it was the first dance at your wedding, he wants to hear you laugh when one of you trips over, and hear you celebrate when you manage to match the routine.
He just wants to see you enjoy the thing he loves.
However, you don’t dance and have admitted that you have always had two left feet. Dance competitions as a kid left you confused, though slightly in awe, at how people could move so naturally while all your focus went to remembering the movements.
You get that same feeling of awe now, watching as your love effortlessly follows the music. The smile on his face as he lets his body move to whatever you have chosen matches yours as you watch him.
If you had more faith in your abilities you would join him. To stand next to him and let yourself just move; it is something that you would give everything to be able to do. You never told him about this, too scared of being made fun of. Even though you knew Riwoo would never make you feel bad about it, deep down the fear was still there.
This went on for months. He would try and get you to dance with him whenever you visited the company but he would get no further than a few turns.
Riwoo told the rest of the members about how he felt about your reluctance. He understood that he couldn’t force you to do anything, but you were always willing to join in when the boys were messing around. Then when it was just the two of you, you stayed firmly on the floor content with just watching. The boys tried to help, Sungho suggested that maybe you just wanted to watch Riwoo in his element rather than trying to interrupt and Leehan added that maybe you just didn’t feel comfortable dancing with Riwoo because he was so advanced.
The boy's suggestions resonated with him. Riwoo chose to drop the topic of dancing together for a while but the want never left. He still wanted to twirl you around whenever you wore something that swirled around as you moved. He wanted to slow dance to a cheesy love song and picture you on your wedding day. He grew almost obsessed with the idea but he chose to leave it be not wanting you to feel uncomfortable.
During all this, opposite schedules meant you couldn’t see each other. It was admittedly painful to not see your love for almost a month but you had been in this situation before and knew how to deal with it.
The day that you guys could see each other you decided that it would be a calm night with some drinks. A nice night in where you can just relax and enjoy each other's company after so long. It was a lovely time, you swapped stories from the time that you had been apart.
As the soft melody of the music played in the background, your conversation ended and filled the room with a comfortable silence. It was a few minutes before Billy Joel’s “She’s Always a Woman” filled the air around you. You let the first verse fully play as you just looked at the boy sitting next to you.
As the song continues you realise you have the perfect opportunity to do what you’ve always wanted to. That's the thing you see, while Riwoo had wanted to twirl you around like on your wedding day, you wanted the same thing. You had fallen head over heels for the boy beside you and you wanted so desperately to sway in his arms.
Whether it was the few drinks in your system or the overwhelming feeling of love, something made you ask the few words that would bring the boy so much happiness.
Putting your glass down and sitting up you looked him in the eyes and asked “Do you want to dance with me?”
The smile that erupted across his face was more than enough to answer your question. No further words were exchanged as he placed his own glass to the side.
He took your hands and led you to the centre of your living room. There was no timings, no choreography to learn, it was simply holding you in his arms and swaying side to side. It would take until your wedding for Riwoo to admit that this was the first time he realised what he had said since the beginning that “Everyone can dance” wasn’t wrong but the way he viewed it was.
Before that moment you shared in the living room Riwoo was convinced that to dance was to find joy in a choreography, it was that satisfying moment when you finally got the timings right. Yet the moment where he truly found the most joy in dancing was when Billy Joel gently played and you placed your head against his chest. Riwoo had always found happiness in dancing and that happiness was only tripled when he had you in his arms.
Does Taesan later claim credit for this revelation because he introduced you to the song? Of course; but he didn’t complain as he, and the rest of the members, watched you recreate that moment for your first dance.
