Here's a real #tbt - From 2002. From memory, this was one of the very first things I drew after reaching the US for the very first time. I had just landed in Chicago and was staying with @skottieyoung - we had probably been talking about art and comics for 48 hours straight and drank around 50 cans of Mountain Dew between us. Over the next few days the other young guns from Led Heavy began to join us. @gregorytitus, @seangordonmurphy & @markbrooksart - Our virtual studio became a real life studio! So much raw energy. I remember feeling very inspired to bring 'the funk' out on this piece as everyone scribbled away in their corners. Mark had drawn an awesome Voltron (or was it Optimus?) - Greg was inking our infamous pencil logo over my pencils and Sean was already drawing a bad ass Batman. Wish I recalled what Skottie was drawing - rest assured, it was amazing. I had also just learned about drawing on 11x17 Bristol art boards. Up until this time I was just drawing on really thin photocopy paper. It was a real eye opener and a game changer. Great memories of this time. Even though life has taken us on our seperate journeys in some ways, I'm still a huge fan of these guys, and so proud of where everyone's art has taken them. (@cheeks_galloway & @kharyrandolph too!) @wilhausmin sent me this Iron Man piece yesterday which dates back to 2004. Back then i was pretty active on the LedHeavy-boards which pushed a lot of artists to experiment with the different elements of comics such as pencilling, inking and colouring. Original art by Will and i was responsible for the inks and colours. Inks were done by hand, colours in Photoshop with the cutaway technique that was ever so popular in that era. A bit of a #tbt since it is Thursday morning in Australia. I was digging through some old folders and came across this. Not sure how many of you guys remember LedHeavy from many moons ago. We were a bunch of kids with hopes and dreams. Our only goal was to draw comics and do it our way. Full of youthful energy and often not following the 'rules'. Man...this was such a fun time in my life. If you know who was a part of that Ledheavy crew, then you know that we did alright for ourselves.
