The Stray
So with the talk of Conan characters in Persona I'm dusting off this thing I wrote a while ago inspired by this post by RedRobin-Detective which crossed my dash while I was playing Persona Strikers and this happened
"You can't tell anyone!" The look on Conan's face was pure desperation.
"I have to." Takagi said grimly.
"I don't care about proper procedure. They may have infiltrated the police! We'll both be killed, along with anyone we might have told."
"I don't care about 'proper procedure'. But I do care about you and others being in danger. And that stops. Now. Even if it means we have to go outside the law to do it."
"What?" This didn't match what he knew about Takagi, not at all. Takagi was bright and eager to please, but with little self confidence and easy to lead around. Takagi did not take charge and he most certainly did not do so by starting with going outside the law. But what could Conan do? He was currently helpless with the knowledge Takagi had now, that the Organization existed.
He let himself be led on a train, Takagi texting the whole time. There was a brief stop where he got some sushi to go, and then Takagi led him down some small roads to a place called 'Cafe LeBlanc' that Conan was fairly sure would be nigh unfindable if you didn't know it was there.
"Like the guy who wrote the original Lupin?" Conan asked, speaking up for the first time.
Takagi shrugged. "Can't say what the original owner was thinking, but the current one is amused by it."
The cafe was small and cozy. The smell of coffee and curry permeated the air and Conan felt hungry despite himself.
"No outside food allowed," said the man behind the counter, albeit with a smile on his face.
"Awww. No Fatty Tuna for Morgana, then?" Takagi asked with a big grin on his face.
There was a loud yowl and a black and white cat jumped on the counter. "You spoil him," the man said with the same smile.
"And you don't?" Takagi smirked back.
Conan sat there, petting the cat while Takagi talked to the cafe owner like an old friend. What did this have to do with the Organization? Why did Takagi bring him here?
The bell over the door rang an in walked, well, someone Conan hadn't expected in a hole in the wall like this. Takamaki Ann, a fashion designer who worked for Ginko. Conan only knew of her due to the minor scandal a few years back of Campbell-san promoting an openly lesbian woman to be her chief designer.
More people came in. Some Conan recognized (Kitagawa Yuusuke, a well known artist. Niijima Makoto, the most hard and nails Director of Internal Affairs the TMPD had ever seen) others he hadn't, like the blonde man who sat next to Takamaki-san and the red-headed woman who perched on the stool next to him like a gargoyle. And they all knew each other.
"Oh dear, I seem the last one." A woman with short curled hair walked in. "I know Sumire is out of the country and Grampa is out in Kyoto. Unless..." All those gathered turned to the cafe owner, who shrugged.
"I don't know why any of you think I know what goes on in his head."
"Better than we do," the blond man said with a wide grin. "So what's the 411?"
"Our beloved little brother brought in one of his strays, and it's one of the two that don't exist." The red head cackled. "This is going to be good."
Strays? Wait. "What do you mean I don't exist?" Conan asked nervously.
The TV in the corner flickered and a virtual avatar popped up. "You do not. All records of your identity are false and were only created shortly after you appeared at Mouri-san's and began to solve cases for him."
Conan felt his stomach drop. No one was supposed to know that! Why had they pulled up his records before this? After all, they couldn't have in so little time...
"Right, and now you have to settle a bet," Red headed girl leaned in, grinning.
"A bet?" Conan asked weakly.
"Are you Kudo Shinichi?"
The floor dropped beneath him, This was impossible. They couldn't...
"Back off Navi. No scaring the client." The Cafe owner said in a stern voice that had the red head sit back abashedly.
"Why...why would you think I was...." His voice sounded so weak, even to his own ears.
"The timing matches up between your appearance and and his disappearance." Navi said. "And your mannerisms are the same."
"And hours before 'Edogawa Conan' appeared for the first time, a young boy matching your description with similar injuries to the ones you had then claimed to be Kudo Shinichi who'd been assaulted and poisoned." Nijiima pointed out. "Of course at that point no one knew Kudo-kun had vanished and by the time anyone questioned where he was, the little boy in too large clothes that matched the ones Kudo-kun had been wearing that day had long since vanished."
"Or become Edogawa Conan." Blond man said with a grin.
"Our client is Edogawa Conan, and that's how he'd like to be known, regardless of who he might have been in the past. Takagi's voice was uncharacteristically firm and Conan was grateful for it.
He'd completely forgotten the police officers he'd talked to in the first hour after his change, who he'd desperately tried to convince of the truth. And if these people had put it together, who knows who else may have.
"And our target?" The cafe owner asked.
Target???
"A group known as the Black Organization. Involved in blackmail and murder." Takagi glanced at Conan.
"Definitely murder. Bombings, developments of poisons, manipulating organized crime..." He trailed off.
"Confirmed?" The cafe owner looked at Takagi.
"I can confirm what I said and I don't doubt Conan-kun's knowledge."
"Alright. As always, we put it to a vote. The vote must be unanimous. All in favor?"
Everyone raised their hand, even the cat.
"All opposed." Nothing.
The cafe owner smiled at Conan. "You can call me Joker. The Phantom Thieves of Heart taken taken your case."

This weekend, I think I’ll work on doing yearbook-style pictures of Caroline’s class. It occurred to me that there are actually quite a lot of them, and it might be confusing without some kind of reference.
Meanwhile…
Caroline Okamoto-Nelson (Victor & Yuri)
Camellia, Forest & Matsu Abbottsford (Fox & Takahiro)
Leonora DeLuca (Ellie & Leo)
Ava Fairchild (James & Alicia) James is Yuri’s business partner and Alicia is James’ ex-wife
Ryota Hinamori (Seiji & Sachiko) He’s an exchange student
Safi & Sakana (Zira & Sri) They’re alien twin sisters!
Rainbow Lee (Sunny & Tae)
Felicity Greene (Artie & Emma)
Mohammad Omar (Zahir & Zainah)
Annie Middleton (Derek & Hennessy) self-proclaimed queen of the trailer park
Benjamin Yoshida - Caroline’s potential new boyfriend
Hayden Fairchild - not related to Ava. He’s Camellia’s boyfriend
Prince Carter-Bailey - soccer player, Matsu’s crush
Jeremiah Davis - soccer player, Prince's bestie
Abigail Thomas - Jeremiah & Prince's other bestie
Liam Leblanc - his mom is one of Caroline’s swimming coaches
Zidan - Sixamish boy, friend of Rainbow. His parents are diplomats
A lot of these are secondary characters, obviously, but I've made sim avatars for all of them.

the cycle of inspiration is literally so beautiful like. okay. from what i know edgar allen poe created the detective c auguste dupin for a story that is seemingly the first modern detective story. which lead to the existence of the fictional detectives hercule poirot by agatha christie but also sherlock holmes by arthur conan doyle. the latter of whom in turn inspired conan doyle's brother in law to create aj raffles, the gentleman thief. which inspired maurice leblanc to create arsene lupin, and arsene lupin inspired monkey punch to create lupin iii - which lead to the creation of lupin viii which apparently lead to the inspiration of inspector gadget??? - and also inspired cowboy bebop, and the character of spike spiegel inspired jet from avatar the last airbender - and there were other inspirations involved in all these things too, but it's amazing how one creation can lead to a chain reaction that inspires the creation of so much more it's truly beautiful and breathtaking the way art is inspired by art. you can see the ways these things are all similar, yet also unique and different and have their places in their story. but you can see the traits that are carried on through all of them. isnt it beautiful how legacies intertwine? whatever life is incredible

Leverage Redemption Log: The Bucket Job
Title makes me think "bucket list"? either that or Keeping Up Appearances? (had to google "that show with the bucket woman" to remember the name) --- bells are playing and there is a giant semi-hollow pipe-structure of a snowman outside the building we're in. Its Christmas Special Time.
Librarian is giving the children some classic reading recomendations based on his knowledge of their likes (the girl likes pirates, which is a nice little gender-stereotype breaking to sneak in there without drawing attention to the subversion. Love it when shows feel confident doing that without the need to detract by boasting about it.) Young Man used to get Sherlock Holmes.
And the librarian is having a heart-attack... --- Harry is calling his daughter. His daughter doesnt want to spend the holiday with him because Mom is going on vacation to some resort (I think Aspen is a resort town in the states?) Ok either he has a son as well as a daughter, i am misremembering him as having a daughter, The daughter might be trans, or Nick is short for Nikita/vero-Nic-a, or Nick is more gender-neutral as a name then i thought (wouldnt be the first time, i went years thinking Sam was exclusively a female name because the only "sam" i ever heard of was from Totaly Spies). I am not sure which is the case. (im gonna place money on its a shortened-nickname though) Ok Sophie confirms its a daughter.
Elliot has been cooking, Parker is taking the long-distance part of Long Distance Relationship a bit hard around the holidays.
Knock on the door: its Doyledude. He's asking for Elliot by full name (sus). --- Doyledude's gay and his dads a preacher who didn't aprove of "woke" books like Charlie and the chocolate factory. (Yes Christians are that bad. Source: My dad got a chainletter that refered to the antichrist as an "avatar" of satan once and "The last airbender" and the blue smurfs were both insta-banned from the household forever).
--- "I am totally fine with revenge it allows us a range of outcomes the mark deserves". good line.
"Guess theres a lot of maurice's out there" KNEW IT, the moment they named him "blanche" i suspected we were gonna be getting a Maurice Leblanc reference. (of course they'd go for Arsene Lupin in an episode about the importance of libraries)
Harry's "so do I" is a simple joke but it lands well. 8/10.
I think we found todays villain: Its the guy harassing a homeless man for using the library. (fuck that guy) Ok ominous cut of someone taking pictures of Elliot. --- Sophie is walking around the theatre loading 100 checkov's guns at once (confetti cannon, Parker is booking a helicopter, red sportscar, Harry has a cane)
Sophie does a speech about the team needing to remember that this is a good person.
Elliot has gotten some of his old budies to work stuntmen. Parker is asking the very crucial heart-attack related question. Our safeword is Winnebago (google says its a campervan? Honestly, if it werent for the whole "automobiles are deathmachines I dont trust myself with" angle, i'd like one.) --- Librarian dude takes one look at the red sportscar and just thinks "dafuq kinda spy are you?" before stealing a regular car like a sensible person on the run from crooks would.
So, clearly the guy is either a someone bad upbringing who brought himself around, or an actual retired spy himself, who reads those books primarily out of nostalgia.
Ok its misspent youth, also the way he casually tosses the phone out the window. Love this guy. --- Im gonna be honest, while i apreciate the consistency of parker still being the Christmas Monster, the way her characterisation has mellowed out to using store-brand santamugs after she was first introduce as off-the-wall enough to use priceless jewelry as garlands is weird to me.
Breanna carelessly dismisses an attack on their own firewalls and servers. Harry's moustache is bad but the eyepatch is worse. --- Four stars? Comeon man. (good improv)
Actual Goons are here! "take spencer" knew it! no way that Doyledude would know Spencers full name. Mr Blanche has stolen a sportsbike. --- Turns out yeah, he was a former spy. Its RIZ bitch (did we get a name? I dont remember) she's looking for "the ledger" (presumeably a list of secret identities. We're looking for a book kept by a librarian. Its in the library. Probably that book samurai book he's been reading regularly) Ok so this is definitly becoming a recurring thing with the way she first used Elliot to find which guys to hire and is now talking about making him an instructor. Is she the secret person he's been phone-ing that breanna was asking about this whole episode? (i thought it was the Supercop from Arlo) --- Blanche has a gun pointed at our heroes. PTSD in a bottle, cause thats a thing that exists now. Wilson is still holding old job secrets from them? Thats... weird. --- Wait, Elliots dad is alive? But I thought that the episode ending implied otherwise? (Might be me being bad at understanding the subtext of that scene, might be a retcon) --- Mr Blanche has already beaten all the guards in the time it took a drugged out Elliot to break a chair. (Pretend to be the new guy, classic "heavy object in a sock" prison-improv weapon. 8/10, guy knows what he's doing, but is also a bit rusty and forced into improv mode) --- Turns out, he didnt retire because he wanted to retire but because no one would believe the ledger was destroyed. Luckily floppy disks suck at long-term storage.
Harry is talking with his old boss, trying to be the angel on his shoulder while the boss is trying to be the devil on his. (still really odd that we went through the trouble of establishing our heroes broke in to find Harry's ledger of old sins and that we're now going the "Harry wont tell them his old sins" route.) --- Copperhead and Elliot are talking. Copperhead does not want to go out by cancer. (we're faking his death and assigning him to International arent we?) --- Confetticannons are a go-go! (they're meant to simulate pages being shot by guns)
Blanche got disarmed and shot with his own gun. (definitly a death-fake) --- Huh, RIZ-woman doesnt actually kill the guards who fail her objectives. She just blackmails them into following their NDA's. (profesional)
Yup it was in the big samurai book. (obviously) and he's getting the rental.
OK so Hardison sent the library boy. (explains why he knew Spencers name)
Ok So Elliots dad is alive just not around for the holidays ever.

Perspective Exercises
Time I live in Missoula, mid 2018. I'm in my room on my computer. My bed is a blanket on the floor with some pillows. My Ipad is there too because I like to watch things as I go to sleep. There is no other furniture aside from desk and drawers. Im playing VRchat, I just started playing it a couple days ago and met this guy Zeizu. We've gone to a world called Cafe Leblanc which is quite popular. At this table other people have come together to talk to us. They are all very cool and at some point we all friend each other. At this time my avatar is a little mouse I found in Big Al's Avatar Corridor. On this night with my new friends, we are hopping some of the new worlds and having a blast. One of the guys, Wooley, has been drinking and passed out in this hell world. We have to leave him but multiple times we come back to check on him.
Place I'm in a field, but it's more like a tundra. It's very cold and near me are some jagged mountains. It's actually reminding me a lot of Skyrim. Amongst the grass are some sheep or something else with similar white fur. The air is very crisp, it almost hurts my nose to breath but I love the sensation. The sun shines despite the clouds but it doesn't help to warm me very much. The breeze is light. I feel compelled to scale those mountains, I wonder what the valley would look like from up there.
Person My friend TK went on a trip to California she just got back from. Her flight at the start seemed to go okay, I think she's used to flying which is interesting because I've never flown. I also personally would be unsettled flying across the country since I've never done it but she loves it, she's told me before. I can only imagine what it's like to sit there on the place, totally relaxed or even excited to be going to a new place with very little planning in place. From what I heard she had a magical time visiting her boyfriend's friend, who sounds extremely nice and interesting. It must have been great to be spending a couple weeks with such a nice person. Seeing cool sights and visiting unique establishments. Dealing with the hot weather. Staying in a cozy little airbnb.

Cover Reveal – Star Wars Outlaws
Tumblr media
This month, Star Wars Outlaws graces the cover of Game Informer. Regardless of your history with the series, there’s no denying the impact that Star Wars has had in the pop culture landscape. The Original Trilogy inspired countless other pieces of media and the subsequent releases have all been noteworthy for one reason or another. But it was the Original Trilogy that developer Massive Entertainment – the team behind games like The Division, The Division 2, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – chose to make its playground. We traveled to the coastal city of Malmö, Sweden, to learn all about the open-world scoundrel adventure set in a galaxy far, far away.
Our cover art this month, provided by Massive Entertainment, shows the protagonists of the story, Kay Vess and her companion Nix, in a cantina, presumably accepting a job. Cantinas serve as the gathering place for the types of seedy individuals Kay and Nix seek out for work. On the back cover, we get a glimpse of one of the criminal factions Kay can accept jobs for: the Pyke Syndicate. You can learn more about Kay, Nix, the syndicates they interact with, the Reputation System, and plenty more in our 12-page cover story of Star Wars Outlaws!
Tumblr media
But that’s not all that’s housed within this latest issue of Game Informer! Marcus Stewart visited Bandai Namco in Irvine, California, to get his hands on Sand Land, the anticipated action title from ILCA. Speaking of the great Akira Toriyama, Kyle Hilliard takes some time in the issue to pay tribute to the legendary manga and anime icon. On the topic of hot-button issues, Wesley LeBlanc spoke with several game developers who are using artificial intelligence in different ways to learn their reasoning and try to grasp the ethics of doing so. Zachary Avery interviewed the team behind indie publishing label Finji (as well as several developers that have published under Finji) and wrote an in-depth profile, while Marcus Stewart spoke with the developers behind the hit Poker-inspired roguelite Balatro about its runaway success. Finally, I traveled to Los Angeles, California, to catch up with the director and producer of Street Fighter 6 and attend Capcom Cup X to see the first-ever $1 million grand prize get handed out.
That’s on top of our standard preview suite. In this issue, you’ll read previews for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Dune: Awakening, Kingmakers, MechWarrior 5: Clans, TopSpin 2K25, and more!
Here’s a closer look at the cover:
Not a print subscriber yet but want this issue? Well, you’re in luck! Subscribing today – or within the next few days – will net you a print copy of this issue! You can join the ranks of the Game Informer print subscribers through our new standalone print subscription! Atari Reveals Berzerk: Recharged, The First Berzerk Games Since The 1980s - Wesley LeBlanc
Earlier this year, Atari announced that it acquired Berzerk, its sequel Frenzy, and 10 more classic arcade properties. Now, as part of Atari’s Recharged lineup, it has revealed Berzerk: Recharged, and its coming to consoles and PC later this year.  The original Berzerk is an arcade game released in 1980. In it, players controlled a top-down avatar while shooting through hordes of armed robots…

Garett lost his vision from a horse striking his head, so he unfortunately does not work. Tomoe Tsurugi has no canon reason for being blind, so technically she qualifies.
Toph Beifong from Avatar: The Last Airbender
Lt. Commander La Forge from Star Trek
Jayfeather from Warriors
Quincy Magoo from Mr. Magoo
Murphy Mason from In The Dark
Marie-Laure LeBlanc from All the Light We Cannot See
Reba McClane from Hannibal
Chirrut Îmwe from Rogue One
Rosalind Harker from The Mentalist
Hope Wilson from The Young And The Restless
Okada Nizou from Gintama
Lizzie Lakely from Emmerdale
Lilly Satou from Katawa Shoujo
Kaname Tōsen from Bleach
Kim Kitsuragi from Disco Elysium
Light/Snake from 999
Tomoe Tsurugi Miraculous Ladybug
That's a solid sixteen, and as far as I know, twelve of those also have no special ability that helps them "see" in another way.
Thanks for the help everyone!
Can anyone think of a single blind character other than Toph Beifong and Lt. Commander La Forge that is blind for a reason not connected to trauma?
Doesn't even have to be completely blind, any degree of blindness works.
