“When I was a student at Cambridge I remember an anthropology professor holding up a picture of a bone with 28 incisions carved in it. “This is often considered to be man’s first attempt at a calendar” she explained. She paused as we dutifully wrote this down. ‘My question to you is this – what man needs to mark 28 days? I would suggest to you that this is woman’s first attempt at a calendar.’ It was a moment that changed my life. In that second I stopped to question almost everything I had been taught about the past. How often had I overlooked women’s contributions?”

Learning Log 1- The Expectation
There are certain things I anticipate happening in Class Film 10, and I believe it will be both enjoyable and hard since you will be learning more about the technical aspect of filmmaking, which I am not very skilled at at the moment. Expect to get a broad understanding of cinema theory, have the opportunity to learn how to tell a narrative via the medium, and learn about opportunities in the business that could truly entice me to continue doing what I'm doing now in the future. I believe that this course will be extremely difficult, and that I will have to go through it more than once before the parts start to fall into place and the muscle memory begins to kick in. I am looking forward to it.

Say hello
For my first assignment in Illustration 1, I was to create a greeting card that told my tutor about myself, my interests and inspirations, the materials I feel happy working with and maybe what I would like to get from the course.
I began by brainstorming a few ideas about the topics I was supposed to touch on:
From there, I grew a bit frustrated:
Mainly because, typical Brandon, I couldn’t decide on the style and materials I wanted to use.
It took a day or so of thinking, but I ultimately came up with the idea based on an artist meme that goes around at least once a year on Instagram called “Meet the Artist” where the artist draws a picture of themself and the tools they carry with them / mostly use.
Thus began the long road of sketching what I felt I looked like as a cartoon. (Side note: I hate drawing myself and any characters that are supposed to resemble anyone in particular.)
I ultimately came up with the character design pictured above colored in blue + red.
After I designed myself and the backpack I always carry full of pens and sketchbooks, I began sketching out my most used supplies:
It was then I began piecing everything together on one, final page. I started tracing my images onto a 5″ x 7″ illustration paper:
After tracing my images with clear lines using a grade H pencil, I began coloring the sketch in with watercolor. I then scanned the image in and began re-positioning the items where I thought the would look good. My first attempt:
Ultimately, I ended up with this composition:
The image, sadly, began warping a bit after all the adjustments in photoshop. And partly due to my impatience with going back and attempting to draw the figure again how I wanted it to be.
It was at this stage that I took my composition into InDesign and made a card layout. Here is my inside message to my tutor:
And finally, here is the entire image as a mock-up:
All-in-all, I feel pretty happy with the results here, and I feel like I would definitely like to explore the character of me I created, as well as painting more with watercolors.

Learning Log 3 (Monitor)
This is my Learning Log for the Monitor phase. In the consult for this phase, I discussed about the responses in my survey and SVA’s, as well as ways to improve on my e-Portfolio, as it was yet to be improved at the time of consult.

Independent Learning log 08
I have seen this video on a lop. I do not like Picasso as a person (It is painful how forgiving people is) but I do like him as an artist. In this video of 5m you can see Picasso painting but more than that, you can see a flow of ideas (I think he might have explored them more if he has more time to finish)
The stream of consciousness as my husband calls it, it is quite interesting, he does not stop to he moves forward. I think he knows when something is pleasing or interesting visually. He followed an instant. He was not afraid to paint on top and change it when he did not like it.
Note: I have been thinking on create a collection of stimulating things. When I started Illustration I did not know anything, I did not have any illustrators that I like and over the years I have been learning more and more so I think the next logical step will create a blog just for the artist that I like and pieces like this one. I want to add a kimono video for the V&A museum soon.

The SEC Files : Learning log 1
It’s been a while since I posted something like this. I was busy in work and at the same time, I took the e-commerce class last month. T’was fun, and full of information, most especially about the emerging technologies and creating an e-commerce presence.
With all those items, yep - there is one thing that concerns me: security. Given that my presence requires confidential information (as my site enables virtual payments), then how will I ensure that my site is secured in a sense?
Then my professor said something as he was discussing security service and mechanisms:
You cannot protect everything from everyone. - Sir Justin Pineda
The quote above started it all.
This itself is a scary one. Though it is an inconvenient truth.
There are not enough resources and money in the world to totally mitigate all the risks. - Sir Justin Pineda
Of course- I will be stressed, and as well as the others, if I switch my concern on everything that cannot be controlled at the same time, especially when we talk about Information Security. Though I must keep in mind that at least I must consider protecting the most important data first, then it will follow.
It’s a good thing because first and foremost: Awareness is the key. Having said that, I asked myself: where to start? At least I should have known the overview or introduction of information security and its concepts, such as:
Existing architectures;
Services and mechanisms,
Authentications and authorizations, and the like.
I must also consider tackling legal issues (Data Privacies), that’s one of the issues in the world that I don’t want to interfere of because it is scare. Have you guys seen those identity-theft movies such as The Net (and The Net 2.0)? They are insane but is possible to happen because of the capabilities of technology that we have today.
To wrap my infobox, I must align my concerns to these items at the end of the day:
Implement Confidentiality; wherein I must protect my customers’ data from unauthorized disclosure;
Ensure Integrity; wherein I must protect any modification from the data that has been provided in my system; and
Promis Availability - wherein I must ensure that my site is always accessible and is protected from any denial of service attacks.
Ha, information is overflooowing! It will be a long journey for me but still, I think it is worth it.

Assignment 4 Summary
Magazine article
Assignment:
Magazine
Research on type foundries
Summary
Introduction
Typography is central to the practice of graphic design. The western alphabet we recognize today has developed over a millennial, drawing from ancient Phoenician, Greek, Etruscan & Roman Letterforms & writing traditions as well as Arabic numerals.
Typography = Mechanical reproduction of words through printing.
Lettering = Hand rendered type, writing & calligraphy.
It is easy to assume that the most invaded many developments in technologies. However ancient china and Korea developed paper, movable type & printing presses centuries before Europe.
Movable type
Johann Gutenberg developed the first European movable type, printing a copy of the bible in 1455 while William Caxton printed the first English books in 1475.
It was through the act of printing that the English language started to become unified.
As printing spread across Europe to Italy typeface began to develop that reflected the ideals of Renaissance. Letterpress has given us much of the technical language
of typography, uppercase & lowercase letters, fonts, typeface.
Type: individuals metal letters, used in letterpress printing.
Fonts: Characters in a given typeface, Fx uppercase & lowercase, punctuation & symbols.
Typefaces: Fonts that are of a related design Times New Roman italic & bold, uppercase, lowercase, numerals & different sizes of fonts.

This was also a nice combination between the illustration and the music. It creates a nice atmosphere and rhythm to the animation. unfortunately, I do not like the aesthetics of this work particularly. I am not sure If I can find a way to do something that is animated but also crafted. I also think that the colour and the theme was wrong, way too bright for the topic.

What Are the Stages of the Creative Process? (jurnal article)
Process art, creative process and art process.
What Are the Stages of the Creative Process?
This article explains in detail the theoretical differences in the art process and how different psychologists have theorise this process. The table below show a summary of the most important theories and the process they use to explain creative process, some very accessible, with three or two process other more complex.
(Marion, Franck and Todd, 2018)
The article is interesting, but I did not feel any of the theories explain the process of creativity successfully. If you applied the Occam's razor, the theories with less element does not explain all type of creative behavior or all the stages people in creative professions tent to go through.
The more complex theories are, well too complex that does not really help to study creative process.
I think the problem is the everyday use of the word and the professional term is the same and carried the same definition (Which is also very ambiguous) this led to a confusing field of study.
It is my opinion that creativity applied to art and creativity to solve problems are two different process. They might use the same avenue or process, but they are not one and the same. Also, there is a tendency to include all craft in the creative process which sometime is not.

Finished my cover for "The Time Machine". Not as thrilled with these as my other two. I think I need to darken the text.

week 4. LPC
I continued on Sleep Matters and GInGin, I am still waiting for other briefs to show up. I made some sketches and formulated the concepts, as well I created the moodboard. I will post my research and progress in the following posts. I didn’t realise that we should do this here as well. However I am keeping up with my time plan and I think that I already chose the final brief I will work on.
