Episode 8: be a Guinea pig（実験台になる）

Hana: 42 year-old female

Tae: 39 year-old female

Ana: 20 year-old female, Hana’s niece

Koji: 35 year-old male

Ana：　なんか変な匂いがしてる。何か料理してるの？　美味しそうな匂いではないけど。

Hana：　独自のパックを作ってるのよ。卵、海藻、ヨーロッパからの泥に、お酢、そして魚の乾燥すり身。ちょっと試してみる？

Ana：　おえっ、やめておくわ。叔母さんが試して、良かったら教えて。

Hana：　Anaのお母さんに聞いてみるわ。私は肌が弱いけど、Sakoお姉ちゃんはタフな肌やから実験台には最適よ。

Ana：　きっと、いや、って言われるよ。

Hana：　わからんよ。

Ana: It smells funny in here. Are you cooking something? If you are, it’s not appetizing.

Hana: I’m making a facial mud mask from my special recipe! It has eggs, seaweed, some European clay, vinegar, and a dried fish paste. Do you wanna be my Guinea pig?

Ana: Ugh. No thanks. Why don’t you try that on yourself first? If it’s good, let me know.

Hana: I’ll ask your mother. I have delicate skin but Sako’s always had that “tough-looking” skin. She’ll be the perfect Guinea pig for my little project.

Ana: I don’t think she’ll say yes.

Hana: Honey, you never know.

Hana: 42 year-old female

Tae: 39 year-old female

Ana: 20 year-old female, Hana’s niece

Koji: 35 year-old male

Hana：　どうしても気になってたんだけど・・・Rinaさん結婚式でめっちゃ泣いてたよね。何かあったの？

Rina：　それは、実は。

Koji：　僕の母さんとRinaの間で色々と誤解があって、母さんが無視をし続けてたんです。

Hana：　そうかぁ。やっぱりあの涙は普通とは違ったよな。

Tae：　でその誤解は解けたの？

Koji：　すっかり解けました。

Tae：　Rinaさんに聞いてるんだけど？

Rina：　あっ、はい。まぁ、その通りです。

Hana: I’ve been wondering something. You were crying really hard at your wedding. Did something happen there?

Rina: Um…actually…

Koji: There were several miscommunications between Rina and my mother that day. Unfortunately, because of that, my mother was ignoring her during the reception

Hana: That’s why. I knew it wasn’t tears of joy.

Tae: Did you get those miscommunications sorted out?

Koji: Yeah, it’s all water under the bridge.

Tae: I was asking Rina.

Rina: Um, yeah. He’s right.

Episode 9: small potatoes 些細なもの、重要でない人／物

Hana: 42 year-old female

Tae: 39 year-old female

Ana: 20 year-old female, Hana’s niece

Koji: 35 year-old male

Koji：こんばんは～

Tae：元気にしてた？

Hana：ちょっと、その有名な色の小さな袋はもしかしてジュエリーが入ってるのではない？

Koji：あっ、ばれました？

Tae：そのブランドは決して安物ではないね。

Hana：何を買ったか見せて！

Koji：ダメですよ。でも中身は何か言えますよ。

Tae：もしかして、婚約指輪！？

Koji：はいっ！

Tae＆Hana：おっと～！

Koji: Hey.

Tae: How’re you?

Hana: Whoa, doesn’t that tiny bag with the distinctive color mean jewelry?

Koji: Oh, you noticed.

Tae: That brand does not exactly scream small potatoes.

Hana: Let’s see what you bought!

Koji: No!  But I can tell you what it is.

Tae: No…an engagement ring?

Koji: Yup!

Season 2 (食べ物編)　

Episode 2: chicken out （怖いから）予定していたことをやめる

Hana: 42 year-old female

Tae: 39 year-old female

Ana: 20 year-old female, Hana’s niece

Koji: 35 year-old male

Tae：　おっ、Koji君。だめだ。また言えなかった…。

Koji：　いきなり何ですか？

Tae：　この前からとっても気になってる事があってさぁ。でもHanaにそれを言えないのよね。

Koji：　何を？

Tae：　最近Hanaに会った？　なんかファンデーションの色が全然合ってなくって、歌舞伎役者なみの白さでさぁ、ちょっとおかしい事になってるんだよね。

Koji：　実は僕もそれ気付いてました。Hanaさん新しい事に色々チャレンジするって言ってたから、その一つだろうなぁ、と思ってたんですよね。

Tae：　気付いてたの？　じゃぁ、Koji君から言った方が良いと思うわ。今晩頼むね。

Tae: Hey, Koji. Gah…I chickened out again.

Koji: What are you talking about?

Tae: There is some thing that’s been bothering me but I haven’t been able to tell Hana about it.

Koji: Tell her what?

Tae: Have you seen Hana recently? Something really tragic is happening in her make-up pouch. The new foundation isn’t matching with her skin tone at all. She looks soooo white like a Kabuki actor.

Koji: I’ve actually noticed that, as well. I thought that was one of the new things she’s trying this year.

Tae: You noticed it, too? In that case, I think it’s better if this comes from you, then. Tell her that, tonight.

Episode 14: the black sheep of the family 家族のトラブルメーカー

Hana: 42 year-old female

Tae: 39 year-old female

Ana: 20 year-old female, Hana’s niece

Koji: 35 year-old male

Ana：　もうほんま叔母さん、ありえへんわ！

Anaの友達：　あの英語おたくのおばさん？

Ana：　そう。今となっては家族内でも厄介者扱いやわ。

Anaの友達：　そうなん？

Ana：　この前、いきなり会社辞めたってラインが来て、その翌日に警察から家族に電話かかってきてさぁ。そちらにHanaさんはご在宅でしょうか？って。

Anaの友達：　え～！？　なんで？

Ana：　どうやら叔母さんの携帯とか運転免許が入ったお財布とかが落ちてたみたいで、安否確認の電話よ。家族全員大心配よ。叔母さんの家に行ったり、友達に電話したりしてさぁ、それでも何もわからず。結局、あの真面目だった叔母さん、友達とかなりお酒飲んだみたいで、何知らぬ顔でその友達の家で爆睡！

Anaの友達：　それあかんな。

Ana: Aghhhhh, I can’t believe that reckless aunt of mine!

Ana’s friend: Your English-nerd aunt?

Ana: Yeah. She’s become the black sheep of the family.

Ana’s friend: Yeah?

Ana: The other day, she sent us a message in a family LINE group saying “I quit my job today.” The next day, the police called us asking if my aunt was at home.

Ana’s friend: Why?

Ana: Apparently, her cellphone, her wallet with the driver’s license and other stuff were scattered all over on a side-walk, so the police were making sure she was okay. I swear our hearts skipped a beat! We went to her place, and called all her friends. No trace of Hana. Little did we know, our used-to-be good Hana and her friends got wasted the night before, and she was sleeping like a log at her friend’s place as if nothing had happened!
