APPARENTLY DRABBLES ARE ONLY 100 WORDS LONG AND I HATE THAT BECAUSE I ACCIDENTALLY WROTE OVER 1K WORDS. SO HERE'S THE EXTENDED VERSION I ORIGINALLY WORTE. THIS ONE INCLUDED LOGAINNE BECAUSE I STILL WANTED HER TO BE HERE.
"You've been...distant. I'm not saying you can't be independent because that's awesome!" Leaf exclaimed, smiling. "But you're not being independent. It's more like you're pushing everyone away and stuff. You get what I'm saying?" He tilted his head, hoping he was making his point as clear as he could.
"Look," Chip spoke quietly, his voice was soft and raspy. He looked like he felt bad but he just seemed pissed off in general.
"I get that you're worried about me, but it's really none of your business." Chip grabbed his bag, throwing it onto his shoulder, "I have to go to baseball practice." He started to walk off into the opposite direction when Logainne pulled him back. She turned him around, making him face her.
"Listen up, Tolentino! You're sad and you're making everyone else sad. And you know how I get when my friends are sad! I have to know that you're okay so we can all be okay! TELL ME YOUR FEELINGS!" Logainne screeched, Leaf gently pushed her back.
"Logainne, from what I've learned from you and Olive I know that this isn't how it's done. You have to be patient with them, right?"
"Oh..right...I did say that. Sorry."
"But, Chip she's right," Leaf mumbled. "You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to but it'd be great if you did! Like, what's the matter anyway? You're Chip Tolentino, you're great! What in your life could get you this down?" Leaf nudged him on the arm. Chip didn't mean to but he shoved Leaf away, a bit harder than he meant to.
"Don't say that!"
"S-Say what?"
"That Chip Tolentino is great! Oh, because that is an entire load of bullshit. He is nowhere near great, he's just a fucking idiot who got an erection at a Spelling Bee! A narcissistic, try-hard little bitch! That is what Chip Tolentino is." Chip ran a hand through his hair, pulling at his black locks. He pulled his glasses off and cleaned them, needing anything to distract himself with.
"Chip...you know we don't think of you like that, right?" Logainne placed a hand on his arm sympathetically. She truly felt bad for every word that just came out of his mouth. Of course they teased him once in a while but it was just friendly insults.
"No, no Logainne it's okay! Because I can be better. I can be the person everyone wants me to be! Straight A's, Atheltic, Smart, Perfect. Everyone expects me to be perfect and I can finally give them that. I can finally give my parents that," Chip sighed, looking down. "The day of the Bee, they said 'Just being here is winning,' they seemed so supportive. But when I was eliminated I could see the disappointment in their eyes." Chip chuckled softly, placing his glasses back on his face.
"They were embarrassed of me. And I will never let that happen again. And to that I have to be this version of myself. But I'm struggling!" Chip yelled, "I'm sorry for ditching you guys but my parents don't like you guys. They think you're obsession with the GSA is odd," He motioned toward Logainne and then Leaf. "They think you're weird and way too eccentric for their taste." He went on, listing each friend off on his fingers.
"They say Marcy has hit an all time low, with her ditching the work her mom gives her. They think that stuff is disrespectful! They believe that Olive is really depressing and quiet, they don't want the stress of a sad friend on me. Which I don't get because friends are supposed to help friends! But apparently kids are too fucking young to understand the basics of reality! And not to mention, William. They can't stand William. They think he's rude and kinda scary, they once called him gross too." Chip let out a frustrated huff and leaned against the wall.
"When I changed myself my parents loved me, for real! But they thought hanging out with you guys was me dragging dead weight. If I want to be the son they never had I can't be seen with you guys." He balled his fists and refused to cry about it. Chip Tolentino didn't cry. He looked up at Leaf and almost broke, Leaf was the thing keeping him going. Who could spend a day without this smiling and uplifting weirdo? He could barely spend a day without any of them. Leaf and his friends were his support beam.
"I can never be with you."
He held up Chip's glass body. Without the support beam, Chip would fall to the floor and shattering. And that's what was happening right now, he was shattering.
"Oh," Was all Leaf could really say about that response. He didn't know how to feel about that, it was a mix of so many things. He was mad, he was confused and he was pretty sad.
"Chip, you can't do this! This is wrong. This isn't right. As the leader of the GSA I fight for equal rights. Equal rights means being yourself. Chip, come on, mean. You don't have to do this." Logainne felt responsible for this, she was suppose to be the inspirational one. She was failing.
"Logainne, I've already made my decision." He shrugged, "This is who I need to be right now."
"Alright, cool," Leaf said, but he had more to say. "Okay, Chip it's your decision and you've made it. But before you go I just want to let you know that we don't care if you're perfect. Your parents may want it or the other kids at school may want it but we don't! You're something special, and you'll go crazy being some random dude that no one knows! You're going to drive yourself insane!" Leaf nodded, throwing an arm over Chip. He smiled and reflected on his own past.
"I know I did! No one liked my cat capes. No one liked my mess hair. No one liked my homemade clothes. And everyone always laughed at my helmet. I only pretended to be normal for like one day and I couldn't stand it! I missed my helmet and I missed me. So before you go I just want to tell you one thing," Leaf took a deep breath, preparing to say what he was about to say. He really believed it would help Chip get through this. It would help them all get through this.
"Be you. No one else can."
Chip was speechless, of course that was one of the many things everyone was taught at Seven years old. But when it came from Leaf it was different, very different. They way he used his words made Chip feel bad about this entire things. It sucked.
"Because we love you the way you are. I love you the way you are." Leaf snorted, laughing at how cheesy he sounded right now.
"You're Chip Tolentino, you're beautiful."

Do you ship leafchip☺️
I feel like this is a trap of some sort but yes, I suppose I do ship it to some extent. Not sexually, obviously, as that would be disgusting, even if they're aged up. But in the "sweet first crush romance" way, yes, it's very cute. Although it's kind of hard for me to imagine, since I envision all the characters as the actors from my production, so I'd be imagining me and my friend essentially haha.
