when the girl you asked out to a party says she's going with her two platonic completely friendly friends instead but then you see her with just one friend which makes it seem like she's on a date with the one guy she showed up with. instead of you

I think there's a point where Lucy realizes that Lockwood has promised never to lie, but he hasn't promised that he'll be perfectly transparent. Omitting information isn't exactly lying, but it's still deceit, the way Lockwood does it. He doesn't tell George and Lucy that he hid a flare nearby, and that the one Ellie found is a decoy. He doesn't tell Lucy about why he was so willing to give up his life for her at the Winkmans', though she asks him and tells him that he can trust her. He's truthful and honest at times, but he doesn't let himself open completely to either of his friends until later moments of vulnerability. It will take time before he actually communicates clearly, honestly, truthfully, vulnerably, and transparently.

Jonathan Stroud won the adaptation lottery big time with L&Co. Can you imagine!! Your world: respected, unaltered from your original intent, well researched by the team. Your story: faithfully adapted for the screen, with so many little details from the books hiding in the show as Easter eggs. Your characters: played by actors who make the friendship carrying the story SO believable and natural and all around lovely. Has there ever been such a good adaptation for a fantasy book series

this is so sad, lads.... that the world is so utterly dependent on its children to save it, and manipulates them and treats them as expendable in the process of using their abilities

I think it's SO funny that Lockwood deliberately wears Fancy Grown-up Clothing (long flappy coat, button up shirts, dress pants, a tie) but still wears sneakers and coloured socks

Literally everyone from 35 Portland Row: Kipps? KIPPS? You mean that swaggering insufferable man in a quilted vest? The guy we can't stand? The boy who drives us bonkers crazy because of how annoying he is? The aggravating one who does things and says things to be obnoxious On Purpose? The one who jeered at us when we were getting arrested and approached us at the library for no reason other than to insult us? The one who is just ASKING to be punched in his punchable face? THAT Kipps???

The greatest gift Lucy can give someone is listening to them and the greatest gift Lockwood can give someone is seeing them and the greatest gift George can give someone is knowing them

Lucy is so upset that Lockwood called her an asset because that's what Jacobs used to call her and look how Jacobs treated his employees

Actually the scene where Kipps is trying to fight ghosts he can’t see is so heartbreaking. How does it feel to be a Peter Pan who can no longer fly. How does it feel to lose what you had placed as the core of your identity. How does it feel when you’re no longer who you thought you were. How does it feel for your power and competence and the pride you put in your abilities to slip through your hands like water. How does it feel to know that your rivals will always be better than you now. That no matter what you try, there is nothing you can do to regain what you once had. That you are helpless against an enemy you once knew how to fight. That, since you built your identity and self image around your skills, you really have lost what’s most important to you, and you’ll always be stuck on the ground, watching younger and nimbler and better agents—that was who you used to be—take flight in a sky that was once endless to you. Will anyone want you when you’re nothing new?
