Degel's appearance looks like hes as cold as camus.... at first

but the more you know , nope, he's not as emotionally constipated like camus is, he's pretty expressive for an aquarius.

the moment unity shows up, the moment he thaws (literally, degel is french for thawing, it's even noted in his gaiden)

it looks like kardia is the one who obeys him, as he notes "only this time I will listen to you"meaning normally it's the other way around, kardia who listens to degel.

degel goes thru the five stages of grief in both main lc and hia gaiden, in order:

denial:

anger:

bargaining:

depression:

acceptance

Noteworthy that in either cases, he was constantly wavering, affected to how personal the fights are to him (both unity and krest) , he's the first to lost his shit when pandora seemingly killed unity when ironically kardia is more consistent in his feelings, be either boredom or pleasure, when degel, again, is the one who lost his shit (even if briefly, noteworthy that kardia is the ne who called him out on that) and goes through the five stages of grief in his fight due to how personal it is to him, to fight his master first and later his childhood friend, friend in same path of study. He actually parallels Hyoga more than Camus himself, despite his design. While he clearly hold Seraphian in high regard, from how he saw her, from how he called her "Lady Seraphina" but directly called Unity by name, it is likely it's more because of closeness than disrespect, as he still remind Unity he shouldn't do this as the Lord's son. Regardless of the lack of honorific used with Unity, he obviously see both siblings in high regards, hold them very, very, very dearly, not only he can barely keep his shit straight with Unity, but also, chose to die with Seraphina. (other than Dohko tried it with Kagaho, keyword tried, and gemini twins also does it, you would think teshirogi do have a thing for together in death trope)

He's also surprisingly playful, shown as he winked to Flourite, he's also shown to agitate Aspros, poking where it greatly matters for the older gemini, first is the twin's similarity (or better said, either twin are offended when people imply they are NOT similar) and the second is his ambition to be pope. He's not being insensitive, he's intentionally pokes Aspros where it hurts. Considering he can go out of his way to avoid Aspros, him not only approaching Defteros but also knows where it hurts for Aspros shows that...

cogito straw jump scare !

Ok I like the idea that Dante used to be a member of the original L corp as an employee for the Extraction team. It would be cool if they were specifically the employee who had Express Train to Hell extracted from them back in the first lab. 1. We know from wonderlab that all of the Lcorp employees use they/them and I've seen people mention that is because there was no place to record the gender of employees in-game? I have no idea if that is true and I would think it is slightly less fun than just a 100% cast of characters without gender on random chance all working for the same place - but for the sake of my crack theory let's assume its true for a second here! (I think it's a hilarious theory in many ways and I enjoy the absurd concept of LC somehow stealing employees' gender but I will not go into that now.) 2. We also know that Dante has the same 2 weird dot's on the front of their clock that Express Train to Hell has. That lines up with many of Vergilus' lines about going to hell and the whole Dante's Inferno pile of references and why the bus is actually looking like a train. I don't remember if it's implied or mentioned but Faust built both the train and Dante's new head so I'm pretty sure they're connected (they at least seem that way visually) 3. I think it is funny that rolling the gatcha for characters uses the same term extraction as the process that Binah was in charge of for filling up the lab with abnormalities. Binah mentions that Carmen and cogito basically do all the work inside someone's head and then the extraction team pulls it out. I'm assuming that means making the abnormality a physical separate entity. Binah specifies that the employees don't watch or listen to what they are doing - they just follow her instructions. She implies looking too hard into the eyes of the employees who are injected with cogito and are extracted from would cause many people to go mad.

How does this relate to what Faust told Vergilius in leviathan? I wonder how similar the strange cogito state is compared to how Charon lost her memories of being Lapis. It's possible that when Faust mentions Vergilius can save Lapis and Garnet she is referring in part to restoring Lapis' original identity. This would line up with the motivation (assuming Faust was telling the truth) to make Vergilius sign on as the Limbus Company Guide.

And if this theory is true that opens up a lot of interesting ideas for what the company is after. If the original employee super dosed with cogito is looking into 'the well' of human consciousness or whatever the phrasing was - what will they remember when they wake up? What is on the other side in there - is limbus company after that information? Do they know something is there and they want more details? Do they want an example that the theoretical way to rehabilitate people from this state works? Did they pick Dante on purpose due to some properties of the Express Train to Hell - or would they have picked at random with any intact employee they could find? It feels more like a mission a corporation in the city would realistically take.

Do they want to become the next L Corp? Are they looking for that singularity to replace them? It lines up as a feasible way they could do that while taking they actions they have so far in the story i think? It's another silly crack theory but I enjoy thinking about it all :)

originally did with cor/aerith/gladio, but realized id need to open them up for cors lc. so, as people discovered rydia ld is busted here, took rydia fr (necessary), garnet with bt and echoes (for damage, hp, and buffs), and galuf (for evasion, cover, and counters). paine call handles esuna/dispel, faris handles dispel, and when timed right for the second half of the fight, aerith ld call should keep the bosses from mechanics while rydias fr is up. needed 2 of her frs, but worth. avoid garnet thunder enchant, and use brothers summon accordingly at the end of fr based on what phase of shield the boss has up for enchants. the boss auto recharges fr gauge when the guy on the right gets below 50%, but if your fr is still active, it wont do that. so try to time that.

original run was quina rubicante, but realized id need to save both for d2d, so i switched to the zell cheese. basically, just set up freya in the air and exdeath bt phase with bt effect for when the boss uses fr, and make sure zell ONLY has s1 equipped. since the boss fr makes it so u cant buff urself, zells s1 will loop infinitely on auto+ until the boss dies. with calls for a bit more damage, and boom.

As in we don't really know what he looks like or pretty much anything about him. You wrote him as a young guy with black hair and dark eyes - so my follow up question is do you have something planned for SHUICHI's origin story? Like why is his hair garnet and his eyes green? Yup, you’re right! We don’t know anything about Papa-mino from canon. In fact, I’m not sure if we even know if he’s dead or alive, or if Shiori is a widow or divorced (though I think the fandom at large assumes the former; please someone let me know if it’s ever mentioned in canon and I just missed it).

To answer your question about LC, I am happy to report I have plans to talk about Papa-mino, dead though he most certainly is in my fiction, and to get a little more background about him as a person. I like delving into those unexplored bits of canon and this won’t be an exception. :) I’m pretty excited to talk about him, actually, and have some Big Thoughts about who he might have been and how, potentially, he affected the way Kurama looks in his human body.

Funny thing: I meant for the photo on the ancestor altar to be black and white, but I think I just… didn’t make that clear? Oi vey. Your Ask tipped me off; thank you! I’ll go back and make that clearer in the narrative in a little bit. His hair color looks black in the photo and his eyes look dark, but exact shades are ~mysterious.~ But yes, that was indeed Papa-mino and not a Brother-mino, so keep an eye out for more about him in future chapters (specifically chapters that might take place during a certain party NQK invited Kurama to in chapter 71, which I fully intend to show in the story). :D
