Natural gear hydrodip? Surprisingly NIR-compliant.
Natural gear fabrics? ...Not so much.
The small tag laying on the jacket above the two rifle uppers is a swatch of Cerakote HIR-265 Gen II Flat Dark Earth, which is fully NIR-compliant.
Any webbing and/or water-resistant gear fabrics are gonna inherently glow when IR is shined on them, as the Eagle LVAC and LBT1961AF proves, so I'm definitely utilizing the Natural Gear fabric for a custom rig regardless.

Cascadia Rising kit.
I want to be as details as possible for this game, down to brand name item descriptions, so this is going to be a little long.
Clothing:
-Merrell Moab 3 mid waterproof (Olive/Gum)
-Duluth trading Men’s everyday lightweight crew socks
-Duluth trading men’s buck naked boxer briefs
-CQR Raider pants (Olive)
-Duluth trading men’s Noorvik base layer shirt
-Varusteleka Särmä blanket shirt (Green)
I have one of these things and it’s both ridiculously comfortable and warm. Ideal as an outer layer for the PNW.
-Fjallraven Poncho as an alternate top in case of rain (Granite)
-Boonie Hat (Woodland)
Gear:
-Gadsden Dynamic ALOC plate carrier (M81 Woodland)
-SO Tech jungle belt/suspenders kit.
The jungle kit system would be the general everyday system worn for either SAR, patrolling or general security. As a middle of the night “wake up and go” chest rig, I’m gonna have the venerable chicom type 56 rig loaded up with as many AR mags and “liberated” grenades as it can hold.
Inside the belt kit:
Inside each of the four magazine pouches would hold three 30 round AR mags. P mags, metal mags, whatever mags I can get my hands on. Inside one of the GP/water pouches I would use it for just that, a 1lt Nalgene water bottle. The other would house an IFAK (chest seals, quikclot gauze, Israeli bandage, extra TQ) as well as an extra boo-boo kit (various size bandaids, medical tape, ibuprofen, alcohol wipes). I’ll also have TQs attached to the suspenders.
The general pack will carry general other toiletries (Wet wipes, tooth brush and paste) as well as skittles. Because you always need some.
Backpack:
I’ll be using a LBT 14L day pack V2 (Woodland, because I love woodland). It’s not the biggest pack in the world, but it can still fit a solid amount of gear. That gear being extra ammo and medical gear, a small rain fly for bedding down/holding a position, rope, extra clothes (like the Poncho or long John’s for especially cold climate) and food. A small foldable saw is also a must have in that area.
Connected to the front of the backpack will be a Hill people gear kit bag, filled with various administrative gear. Maps, lights, pens, some kind of coms, gloves, extra knives and tools.
And now, for the part everyone cares about the most.
Weapons:
I went back and fourth over several rifles, seesawing between something in 5.56 and .308. Ultimately I decided on a MK12 SPR MOD H. A 16” AR, with a suppressor utilizing a collar system to keep length down while still maximizing the 5.56 round. On top of the SPR will be a primary arms LSx 4-14x44 FFP ACSS scope, with an amount T1 on a 45° optic mount.
And because I’m a closet Fudd, I have to go with a 1911. The PNW is home to many things, in this case that includes PLA members and robo dogs. But there’s also still the possibility of a mountain lion or bear attack. And I figure .45 ball will handle all of those. So I’ll be going with a Dan Wesson specialist black OR, wearing a X300 and an aim point ACRO.
Gunblr Game: CASCADIA
[Disclaimer for anyone new here: These are strictly fictional entertainment exercises within hypothetical scenarios. None of this is meant to be taken too seriously, or as a threat, or any sort of political stance. Just interactive fiction. I am not responsible for anyone else's actions or statements.]
Background: An unprecedented event has occurred in which both the San Andreas Fault Line and Cascadian Subduction Zone shift, triggering massive earthquakes, just minutes apart, leaving the West Coast devastated. The Cascadian quake occurs offshore at a magnitude of 9.5, causing massive tsunamis to pummel the coastline of the entire PNW and reduce the cities of Portland and Seattle to rubble. Vancouver, B.C. fairs a big better but is still heavily damaged. The bulk of the San Andreas quake is along the southern half of the fault line at a magnitude of 8.2 and significantly impacts every major city in the southern half of the state. In the aftermath, fires have ravaged what's left of the cities and further raised the death tolls and number of homeless.
Failed Response: Predictably, the US government prioritized California in relief efforts declaring the central and southern areas as the California Disaster Zone and declaring the northern most section of the state up to the Canadian border the Cascadia Disaster Zone. The region is enraged at their abandonment, while similar outrage occurs in Canada at the minimal relief efforts there. This leads to a power crisis and a huge autonomous zone that more or less runs from the NorCal Redwoods to Vancouver B.C..
This is not a secession, as the federal powers are completely indifferent and leaving the region their its fate, focusing on the wealth and voter power bases to the south.
Current Situation: It has now been several months, and within the PNW, various factions operate is loose collaboration due to necessity. At least one faction has sided with Chinese interests, whose personnel are on the West Coast under the guise of relief efforts. Refugee camps are all over the place as many flee the Portland and Seattle regions on foot. The majority of the factions are just people protecting what's left of their communities, bolstered by volunteers, many of whom originally arrived to assist in S.A.R. and rebuilding efforts. With interstates destroyed or operating at very limited capacity, many supplies are trucked in via smaller roads.
The Game:
You are a volunteer inside the Cascadia Disaster Zone, specifically a small town with an influx from neighboring towns : What would you arm yourself with from the mix of what's left in stores, personal collections, police stations, guard armories, and the massive cross section of weapons and gear brought in through sympathic American and Canadian supply lines? Aside from your personal security patrol gear, is there a role or setup you would insist be included among teams?
Threats - Chinese backed collaborator militia with PLA "advisors", supported by FPV drones and robotic dog scouts. Groups of armed looters attempting to take what they can as they escape the region. Random opportunistic criminals operating in the lawless environment.
Roles - Static security in towns and camps, patrols/sweeps of local area, S.A.R. should community members go missing, maintaining supply routes, and manning lookouts watching for threats, be they human, animal, or environmental related.
These security roles are supplemental to survival/relief efforts. You are there to help, not invade.
That's the premise for this one, folks. Almost the whole of the American and Canadian outdoor and shooting industries is on the table for gear. Assume a large, if poorly managed, stream of private aid is coming in, and lots of volunteers have technical knowledge. Feel free to get creative. Be as detailed as you like with your equipment choices.

I need to overhaul my chest rig/PC setup, not exactly sure what direction I should go in.
I have a ferro slickster and I've been wearing my lazutchik over it, but it's more weight than I want to hoof around. I'm trying to decide if I want to get a SPC or JPC and molle shit to it, or swift clip a Mayflower, Spiritus, LBT, or comparable chest rig to it.

Once again
LBT-1961AF Chest Rig, Gen.1, OD Green, 2002 Buckles, No Labels
Very similar to the AWS Strike Vest in terms of layout and construction, but definitely loaded with lots of little force multipliers and creature comforts that make this rig more contemporary despite being a 20+ year-old design at this point.
More capacity for mags, an 'okay' map pocket, and lots of additional pouches really push the format to its limit for the overall size. If one were to make a swiftclip-able/PC placard-style version of this design, it would not be out of place in the modern age.
The outer radio pockets each have a generously-sized utility pocket, which have a removable elastic 'lid' to use as a dump pouch as well as a small frag grenade pocket on the inner sides.
The rig has four double M4 mag pouches (holding 8 mags total in the dedicated pouches) and a double pistol pouch that can either hold two double stack or four single stack mags. Also good for holding multitools.
The 'AF' in the designation refers to 'Air Force' as this variation of the LBT-1961 was designed with three dedicated pockets for MS2000 Strobes for CCT guys to mark landing strips.
Also notice how the flaps are sewn with a box stitch to hold the velcro in place - later generations of these rigs would sew the flap velcro with a third horizontal line rather than an 'X' shape.
Inside the map pocket, there's an 'envelope'/EDC style holster that simply velcro's in place. An extended 'wing' off the leading edge of the holster holds one or two extra mags.
Honestly, this is probably the least usable feature on this rig given how awkward it is to access. Still neat that it was included all the same.
The H-Harness, while simple, was revolutionary for the time and elements of which like the velcro-adjustable rear cross-strap can still be observed with modern chest rig designs. The cable management flaps aren't spectacular, but it's good that they're there.
Note how the rear ends of the shoulder pads are 'squared' and simply terminate to 1" webbing, rather than folding off to the sides - this is another one of the ways you identify these as Gen.1 rigs.
Copious amounts of drain grommets on all the pouches.
It's very jarring to notice the difference in pricing for these rigs depending on the color you have - for instance, the 'pinky tan' versions of these oldschool rigs were used extensively by Navy Seals and AFSOC and currently go for several thousand dollars when they pop up.
But because this one is OD, and almost nobody has been seen using them, they're only worth about $300 at most and I actually ended up trading a helmet for mine lol.

TIL: Those small utility pouches on the front of the mag pouches on an LBT 1961AF Chest Rig are for MS2000 Strobes.
Neat.

Custom 5.56/.308 Woodland Split-Front Chest Rig
It's rare that I take custom project commissions, but this case was an exception for a close friend that I've known since 2016.
This project was mostly me spitballing an assortment of concepts and figuring out what he wanted, and there's definitely a lot of things I'd do differently if I ever made another one of these, but in the end I think it came out all right given the available material limitations and the overall "figure things out as I go along" mentality.
The core of the design is obviously a Strike Vest, but there's about a half-dozen other sources of inspiration here, from Blackhawk, Paraclete, LBT, etc. The end goal being to make a retro-inspired chest rig with subtle modern accoutrements (such as swiftclip compatibility).
The abundance of chemlight loops was specifically requested by the customer, and more would have been added to the pouch flaps if the seatbelt webbing material weren't so slippery and the elastic weren't so spongy.
The 4 mag pouches were intended to hold two 30-round 5.56 mags each, but given the sloppiness of the design, it may also hold .308 mags as well. I doubt this will be tested, as the customer intends to make custom double kydex inserts for each pouch, so the looseness is beneficial.
Another feature that might be constructed for this rig in the future is a detachable RRV-style admin bib. Time will tell when or whether I accept that project.

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite chest rigs
And I normally don't like LBT lol
Only complaint so far is how obscenely long the harness is, but it was designed to be worn over body armor anyways, so not a big deal lol
The Strike Vest will probably continue to be my range rig while the 1961AF is more (and I cringe at the term) Recce/Sustainment-oriented.
