Imbolc, Cross-Quarter Day (because it's halfway between Yule, the winter solstice, and Ostara, the Spring equinox) is coming up on February 1. It marks the point when the beginnings of Spring are starting to break through.
Among other things, Spring cleaning is a tradition for that day, so I'll probably do a bit of clean-cleaning, as opposed to decluttering. Kitchen and bathroom.
Dairy is traditional, and I think I'll try a recipe for baked cheese dip, with Flax Almond Hemp crackers and raw peppers and carrots to dip in it. (As a meal. Too lazy to do a bunch of cooking just for a snack.)
Starting seeds is another tradition, so I might start some dahlias, if I'm up to it.
Reminder to self to make this again. I think it was good?

I'm deathly bored with the everyday recipes I rely on.
I am not the most inventive and adventurous in the kitchen, or even in the restaurant tbh, but it's clear that always relying on the 2 types of pasta sauces we can make quickly and the same 3 ways we cook vegetables is becoming unbearably boring to me.
I need to stock up on recipes to try but recipe books in my library system are too specific, it's all stuff like 'airfry pomegranates' or 'keto for you and your dog' and I'll be honest, it's not very enticing.
I'm just looking for something generic with mains, sides, appetizers, single meals, desserts, but the only ones that have all of those and don't call me a fat lazy fuck mother of seven are OLD which means the recipes are very... '80s, if you catch my drift.
I just wish my brother had kept his textbooks from culinary school, it could have been so useful.

Never underestimate a good meal. If you enjoy what you're eating, you'll have an easier time sticking to your calorie/macro intake. If you hate the taste of the 'healthy" food you're creating then you're more likely to binge leading to a downward spiral of guilt and shame. Take it one day at a time and plan your meals.
Here's my lazy chicken salad that I sometimes eat for lunch or divide into snack portions.
Lazy Chicken Salad
1 Can of Chicken (I buy Kroger brand premium chicken)
2 Tbsp of Sugar Free Sweet Relish
2 Tbsp of Hellmann's Light Mayonnaise
Calories - 420
Protein - 60g
Carbs - 7g
Fats - 14.5g
You can cut the recipe in half for a snack portion and you're still left with a high protein/low cal snack. I generally eat my chicken salad with celery sticks so I can get in some fiber. I love the sugar free sweet relish because it has no calories!
You could also eat this as a sandwich. I like to use the Keto Bread or Ole Extreme Wellness Spinach and Herb Wraps. Joseph Lavash Bread is also a good brand because half of each sheet has 6g of protein at 60 calories.
