I just discovered that, a year ago today, this oversized mailbox was installed in the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District as street art to make a statement on the housing plight in the city ... artist S.C. Mero states: “ ... [it is] a metaphor for the inaccessibility of affordable housing in Los Angeles. Rent is insane and the dream of owning a home is something that seems ‘out of reach’ for most of us ... [it can allow us] to peel back for a deeper meaning if we want to, but it can also just be enjoyed on the surface.” Many of you know I lived and worked in the Arts District for 25 years. I now own and live in a house in Houston Texas but still commute to Los Angeles every month or so for work - it shouldn’t have to be like this.(photos taken by me on 6.8.19) DTLA #ArtsDistrict #LAX2HOU #LosAngeles #lastreetart #streetart #urbanart #publicart #housing #americandream (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/By3KMU_AcT1/?igshid=ducf74zj649i

78° and low humidity today in Houston = AMAZING!! What started out to be a lovely rainy day turned out to be for just so I had to go bicycling for lunch ... Cycling along the bayou waterways is one of my greatest pleasures #cycling #HoustonBikes #Houston #LAX2HOU #HTX #HTown #HTownMuse #DowntownMuse #bikehouston #bike 6.17.19 (at JuiceLand) https://www.instagram.com/p/By0fBwNAuOS/?igshid=1wr4pinxbm1b8

A week ago today, I went on a hike in Los Angeles along my former daily trail … Ferndell up to Griffith Observatory and back ... with my friend and artist Jaime “Germs” Zacarias. It was so great to be there again, and I loved having a friend pushing me up the butt-blaster trail! #LosAngeles #LAX2HOU #hiking @griffithobservatory @germ_s @htownmuse 6.10.19 (at Griffith Observatory) https://www.instagram.com/p/By1YoqkgaFU/?igshid=r2e6c1cj86we

I met singer/guitarist Bonnie Bloomgarden on a morning walk in Echo Park, California because of her dog Tommy (she is 12; Tommy, that is ... not Bonnie). I saw her shirt message first ... “Under the Spell of JOY” .. then we talked about dogs (the ultimate ice-breaker) and then we talked about music, and then we talked about the fact that she and her band Death Valley Girls going to be performing in Houston on October 15 at White Oak Music Hall. Something about our conversation and seeking joy made us want to end it all with a hug, so we did, and then moved on our ways ... It seems we both needed it and for me, it helped me get through the rest of my day. #UnderTheSpellOfJoy #LAX2HOU #LAX2HTX #LiveMusic #LosAngeles #EchoPark #HoustonMusic #Houston #HTX #HTown #HTownMuse 6.13.19 http://www.jankysmooth.com/death-valley-girls-bonnie-bloomgarden-buzz-bait-music-magic-metaphysics-02-16-2016/ (at Echo Park, CA) https://www.instagram.com/p/ByuzpGigf-b/?igshid=1twn1d0cekxwx
