Looking back on lavender gate, it's so interesting to look at that vs what's happening now. Because when the song title Lavender Haze dropped, gaylors had already been pointing out the queer history of the word lavender thanks to the target exclusive vinyl/cd. Gaylor talk was at an all time high, so when the song title was revealed, Taylor and her team immediately posted a plausibly deniable hetsplaination. At the Grammys afterparty, one of the gayest things I've ever seen, they threw a little leather jacket on Taylor to connect it to Joe, distracting swifities/hetlors/the general public from the fruity shit she was doing.

But now?

Silence. A post about the Fearless TV anniversary from TN. A music video being filmed. A few scraps to talk about, but nothing big enough to distract from the breakup. More and more credible sources discussing the breakup (we've gone from ET to Good Morning America, one of Taylor's most trusted sources), all of swifttok talking about it. I've noticed on Twitter that gaylor accounts are gaining a lot of followers. Yes, there's hate and harassment and typical homophobia from hetlors, but even that seems to be losing steam.

And there are no distractions. I've never heard silence quite this loud.

Sure, it's only been a couple of days, but the LavHaze reel came out minutes after the title was revealed. The leather jacket photo was posted in concurrence with all the other photos. If Taylor and her team wanted to, they could create some vague reassurance of Taylor's perception as a heterosexual, but they haven't. If, in a week, every re-recording drops, or even just one, that will have been a week for the fandom to take in the breakup news.

As I've said before, Joe Alwyn was the glass of Taylor's glass closet. The glass is gone. Taylor is performing Vigilante Shit like that while she's single. Taylor looks happier than she ever has, even on other tours, after a breakup. Taylor is opening an Eras museum in support of an LGBTQ+ advocacy group during Pride Month. And instead of a cheeky little pap walk, we got a breakup.

The glass is broken up.

The house is burned down.

i cant find a post i wrote about it i’m gonna check some more but basically i found it interesting that as a kaylor, taylor’s explanation of lavender haze did not even faze me, i just took it to assume that the song was actually really gay or really kaylor in some way and she was covering her tracks. that’s not to say i don’t get the concerns. just that i think the behavior is easier to understand her falling into if you believe she’s in a relationship with someone who she would feel compelled to keep hidden and obfuscated, even at the risk of the greater gay community.

All of this flagging, all of the crazy queer mashups, all of the build up. Will this just be another KissGate, another LavenderGate?

Maybe.

That really sucks to say out loud. But I feel like I want to prep myself for that very possible reality. Maybe the plan is still bigger. Maybe it’s a doc. Maybe it’s the Rep vault tracks. Or maybe she will just continue riding the fence and playing this balancing act forever. Maybe a final reveal will come Evelyn Hugo style?

If she walks out tonight in that Blue and Gold bodysuit again I feel like that will be our answer….three nights in a row is likely for filming and that is a brand Taylor move for sure. Hopefully like last night she will give us something amazing in the surprise song set.

The bottom line….this is Taylor’s life and Taylor’s story to tell however she chooses to tell it.

Tonight I want to just enjoy the final show for whatever it is. I think there will be something special. But whether it will be connected to a Coming Out or not, I just want to enjoy this final moment of this most massive of Eras.

Don’t get me wrong…..I am still praying all my little queer dreams for something massive! For the burn it all down she’s been promising and if she does I’m going to be INSUFFERABLE lol!

On that, I just wanted to say I emphasise so deeply, I spend a lot of my time on X and i’ve never seen the hatred for Gaylors/Kaylors so bad, it’s worse than after LavenderGate, PrologueGate, NYTgate, BettyGate etc (if anyone was around for those, you know how awful it was, homophobia and people getting doxxed left and right) but right now they don’t have any words from Taylor to use to fuel this hate, they can see what is happening and that something is amiss with tayvis and her public narrative.

Whether they can admit it to themselves or not, they can see that there might be some truth in what we’re saying, I think we are in the endgame now and hopefully we won’t be dealing with this too much longer.

I wish Taylor would maybe say something about the rampant homophobia and bullying in her fandom no matter how small (wishful thinking?) because I won’t be the first to admit, being in this community does negatively impact my mental health at times, especially when this is the sort of place a lot of us turn to for community and escapism from our own personal real life horrors.

im so sick of her baiting the gaylors and then writing shit like this that she KNOWS swifties will use to hurt gaylors. and the worst part is she phrases it in a way where she still has plausible deniability. she constantly does things that encourage us to speculate and on her relationships and then whines about it when people do it!!! like fucking liking lesbian p*rn and all the kaylor posts on kissgate. i cant keep on accepting this and accepting that the repercussions will bring me so much hate. If she keeps on doing this i will have to unstan or at the very least delete my gaylor accounts bc if she is pretending to be a closeted queer person for her career/pr/streams it is genuinely insane and very problematic. I had so many hetlors in my fighting w me and calling me slurs during lavendergate and now i have to deal with this shit again? i already know that one line will bring me and other gaylors so much hate and hurt, it is becoming unacceptable for her to continue doing this. and on top of that it makes me feel insane and delusional for thinking ive found some queer subtext in her music. like i imagined it all. especially after saying "gay pride makes me, me". i dont know how much longer i can actually handle her saying shes an ally, and "planting the seeds of allyship", and then stabbing gaylors (a very large majority of whom are queer) in the back. if she want to hide her sexuality, there are much better ways of doing that than whatever bait and switch she keeps on doing. if she is queer, by no means am i asking her to come out but the very least she can do is stop putting us in danger.

Oh. Oh honey. The gaylors are losing their shit about the prologue note. It's Lavendergate 2.0 for them. I wager that tommorow, Hell breaks loose because they will go on tangents about homophobia and queer baiting.

Sidenote, due to Karlie Kloss' stance on Palestine a fair few gaylors are dropping her. For good, let us pray. Now, she'll always be an important figure in their circles, but I think that if this sentiment spreads far enough, they might finally get a new idol or ressurect an old one (if the latter happens it will most likely be Dianna Agron due to 1989).

Which should be interesting because I genuinely think the reason that they've stuck to Karlie this long is because there's just no other woman that close to Taylor anymore. You know, some speculate on Kravitz or Gomez or even Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo lately (which is extra weird; though Olivia is seen as an unrequited crush on Olivia's side, it still feels wrong) but they can never settle and find enough "proof" so they drop them and they never spread far enough.

So I'm curious to see who they'd pick if this actually happens.

here’s a collection of loosely related thoughts for you:

one thing i sometimes think about is that taylor is probably also leaving easter eggs about these wonderful things *for* these wonderful things. not *for* us.

like i think it’s important to consider who having a trail of breadcrumbs and easter eggs chiefly benefits in the long term. i think this is something we are best equipped to understand.

i definitely assume taylor has considered the risk that people will talk. i don’t think taylor would’ve penned the line “talk your talk and go viral” expecting people wouldnt. so on this part i think i disagree sliiiightly with you but also sometimes i wonder if in recent years taylor hasn’t put up a metaphorical sign that reads “play at your own risk” that people have refused to notice. because i think the hate comes with the territory, i agree with you on this. i think taylor’s stance is, you know, say whatever but the consequences of that are falling on you and i won’t be helping and sometimes i will even work against it. i don’t think anyone ought to be mad if sometimes she balances things out by doing stuff with the beards or by ‘hetwashing’ some things along the way. (we saw this a lot with midnights era and the way gaylors reacted during ‘lavendergate’ or when she ‘hetwashed betty’ ) like i don’t think of that as her throwing anyone under the bus, i really don’t. because that assumes she was doing the thing for ‘us’ in the first place. i think it’s a big misunderstanding that happens a lot for a lot of groups, often gets people in a cycle of frustration, one example i found wild was lavendergate because a lot of tiktokers were angry taylor put them in danger, but at the end of the day, taylor didn’t tell anyone to stump using their actual faces names and location markers. another example ill give is the “they need to STOP giving us easter eggs or leaving clues if they’re never coming out, all it does is hurt us” line of thinking that crops up sometimes. like maybe, just maybe, these things serve a different purpose that takes priority over considerations for ‘us’ and taylor has left it up to ‘us’ to figure out those rules and act how we see fit.

ultimately it’s up to all of us to curate our own spaces to be the kind of spaces we want them to be. that’s something i like about tumblr, i think. less public facing, more blog-based, etc. speaking for myself, of course.
