Laurel's favourite quest reward is getting fed. People throwing in some food is more appreciated to her than her actual payment in gil, especially when she's traveling far from a town. People who hire her letting her sit in on a meal with them is a good way to get food and conversation and hopefully see or learn something fun.

Plus, for the most part, Laurel's caloric needs are massive. Being tall and a little bulky on top of being constantly physically active (war takes a ton of energy to maintain. rpr less so, but she's also less frequently rpr) means A Gal's Gotta Eat. She keeps snacks on her more often than not, but if someone else supplies her with food as payment she's exceedingly pleased.
