Being the captain of the cheer team on top of being in National Honors Society, Track, and being in the accelerated classes was a pain in your ass. You hardly ever had time to yourself, so when you did it was important that you were relaxed. Being around the idiotic people that went to your school as well as a few of the staff members really gave you migraines. The stress on your physical body, as well as your mental body, was on such a limb it was hard to stay relaxed even when the time was given to you.
It was an early Friday morning and you had woken up 15 minutes later than usual. You had to get up quickly and find all of your cheer gear. The large black duffel bag that held your stuff was emptied onto the floor, so you scurried around and shoved everything in it. Your skirt was across your room on the other side of your bed, your pompom on your spinny desk chair, and your hair ribbons up on top of your desk. The rest of your stuff had also been scattered across the room, making it that much harder to get ready.
You set the now zipped duffel bag on the ground and put on the outfit you had chosen the night before. You put your hair in a tight and high ponytail with a black scrunchie.
You didn’t have much time to eat anything, so you settled for a granola bar and ran out the door to your small black car. The ride to school seemingly took a longer amount of time compared to other days. Which had been surprising to you, as you had been driving slightly over the speed limit in a rush to get to school as quickly as possible. You had to get to your locker as quickly as possible and set your duffel bag in the office.
You got to the large building you called school and parked your car. You took your school bag and your duffel bag and walked into the school through the large glass doors, immediately heading to the office.
“Good morning, y/n. Putting your bag in the back corner again?”
The little old lady that ran the office, Mrs. Goldmann, was so sweet to you and always allowed you to keep your bag in the office due to the fact it was too big to fit in your small locker.
“Good morning  Mrs. Goldmann. Yeah, we have a big game today. Anyway, I’m running a bit late so I gotta get going. Have a good day!” You say, pushing the door open and heading out of the office.
You walked across the school to your locker, the people in the school also scurrying around and finding their lockers, others hanging around and talking, and a few just now getting in, just like you had.
The walk to your locker took a longer amount of time than anticipated. It felt like everyone’s voices were so much louder and everyone was so cramped into you.
“Hey y/n. Ready for the big game tonight?” Your best friend, y/bf/n was also a member of the cheer team. You and her joined your freshman year of high school and have loved it ever since.
“Not really. I woke up late and I have a major migraine. And with this dumbass standing at my locker every day,” You pointed towards your locker where the one and only Grayson Dolan, captain of the football team, stood. “I’m not in the happiest of moods.”
Grayson Dolan still stood right in front of your locker, leaning his shoulder against it and laughing among his group of friends. He was such a pretentious asshole and if you hadn’t had such a big headache, you would’ve probably yelled at him to move.
“Dolan, move.” You walked up to him and held your arms together, waiting for some sort of snarky response out of him.
There were no snarky remarks or evil glances. He moved out of your way quickly and continued to talk to his friends. The bell that signaled you had 5 minutes left until first hour started had just rung and Grayson’s friends had walked passed you while Grayson himself had hung around for a minute longer.
“Someone’s got an attitude today. Be nice for the game princess.”
Grayson leaned over and whispered in your ear, the nickname he gave you sending chills down your spine.
You were in no way going to do anything with him. In the movies it’s always, “the football captain and cheer captain are together” but in this case, it’s the opposite. You hated him and he tried in whatever way possible to get in your pants.
At least that’s what you thought. With the stigma everyone had built around him and his brother Ethan, it wasn’t very hard to assume the worst of the two. And with Grayson’s big mouth, he wasn’t afraid to brag about the countless amounts of girls he had slept with.
You ignored Grayson and pushed passed him, walking to your first class and taking a seat in the small wooden desk chair. Your teacher was always really excited to teach, and normally you wouldn’t mind, but some days it’s hard to handle how happy she is all the time.
You were tired and definitely did not want to pay attention. You figured someone would let you copy a few notes you may have missed while you fell asleep. ‘
“Y/n. Wake up. Class is about to end.” Your friend shook you awake and pulled on you in order to get you to stand up.
“I’m getting up.” You say, standing up and grabbing your books. You were on your way to your 2nd hour and you saw Grayson once again.
You could tell that he was looking at your ass. It wasn’t surprising, he’s been doing this since the beginning of the year. Ever since you became Cheer Captain this year, he hasn’t kept his eyes off of you.
You didn’t mind, I mean, he’s attractive. Who would? But his personality and the fact you knew he just wanted to get in your pants changed your perspective on the whole situation.
Everyone thought you guys fought to put on a show. That you two, in fact, liked each other, but you fought in order to make people think you didn’t. But this wasn’t the case. You did in fact, dislike him. But you had to put up with him. He was the captain of the football team and you were the captain of the cheer squad. It’s what you had to do in order to make sure it didn’t disrupt the relationships between the other members of the cheer and football teams.
It was nearing the end of your last class period, meaning you would have to leave and get ready for your big home game. The boys on the football team that happened to be in your class were already getting hyped up and your teacher could tell. She knew that every time we had a big home game like this the boys would get excited, and to be honest, she didn’t really mind. Normally she would even try to wrap up class because she knew half the class wasn’t paying attention anymore.
“Okay class, I know we’re packing up kind of early compared to normal, but be sure to finish chapter 16 review by Monday.” Your teacher states, finishing the lesson and taking a seat back at her desk, allowing everyone to start mumbling on about the big game.
Class had ended shortly after and everyone rushed out of the door, the guys on the football team yelling and jumping on each other. You stayed behind and waited for the class to clear out before you walked out. You headed to your locker which was close to your last class and saw Grayson standing at your locker again.
“Dolan.” You say, walking up to your locker and waiting for him to move.
He never moved, in fact, he puffed out his chest and stood tall. As if he was trying to piss you off, or just amuse his friends, he called you princess again.
“What’s that princess? Am I in your way?”
The sound of his voice saying princess would have normally pissed you off, and it still did, in fact, it made you literally want to punch him in the face, but the way he stood so confidently and said it so lowly made you crumble. But you couldn’t ever show that to him, so you pushed him out of the way and opened your locker.
You grabbed your backpack and headed down the hall to the office. You picked up your duffel bag and walked over to the girls' locker room in order to get ready.
“Y/N! You ready for the big night?” Holly, the one girl on the cheer team that hated you, says.
Holly has hated you since you became cheer captain. She claims she would be a much better captain because of her experience in gymnastics for 11 years. And she was right, she was really good, but apparently you were too.
“I’m definitely ready. We can’t fuck this game up. We gotta make sure our boys win, right?” You say, smiling at her and not worrying about the death glare you knew she had given to you once you looked away.
You put on your cheer outfit along with the rest of the girls, helping a few of the girls zip up their skirts. You threw your hair up into a high ponytail and tied your blue and black ribbon into your hair.
The rest of the girls were all finishing up with getting ready, tying their 2nd shoe and jumping up in down and stretching in order to get ready.
“Okay girls, is everyone ready?” You yell as you stand on top of the bench in the middle of the locker room, a string of loud yes’s arising in the locker room.
“Let’s go!” You yell, running out of the locker room and out the doors that led to the football field. The boys were already out practicing before the game that would be starting in 20 minutes. A few of them stopped and watched the girls walk out, one of them being Grayson.
You turned around and you could feel his eyes burning down your back, stopping right at your ass. You turned around and drank some water, running out to the edge of the field where the rest of your team had been. You guys stretched for a little while and continued on to practice your routine.
“Okay, everyone’s got it down?” You ask, getting everyone pumped up for the game that’s about to start. Everyone nods and you guys set all of your stuff down, heading right to where you guys were supposed to be for your first routine.
The game ended and your school won, sending everyone in the bleachers into a fleet of screams and cheers. The girls on the cheer team who were a thing with the boys on the football team ran up to them, congratulating them. The rest of the cheer girls and football guys were all jumping around, very excited about the whole situation.
“Hey y/n! We did good, right?” Grayson says, looking you up and down with no sign of hate or doucheyness in his eyes.
It was something you were surprised to see, but you hadn’t been opposed to it.
“Damn straight you did. Good job Grayson.” You say, patting him on the shoulder and walking off.
It had been quite a while and everyone else had already left, so it was just the cheer team and football team out on the field. Everyone was packing up and you guys all headed inside to your locker rooms.
“Y/l/n! Dolan keeps looking at your ass!” One of Grayson’s friends, Jack, states.
Grayson immediately denies the whole thing, yelling at Jack and walking quicker to the locker room.
You were the last one in your locker room and you headed out. You stopped and saw Grayson once again, him leaning against the wall with a few of his friends. You were feeling a bit confident, so you went up to him and whispered in his ear,
“It’s okay if you wanna look at my ass, princess.”
