hi, eulalia. i recently found ur blog and have been reading middleground from the start of the tag. i was wondering if there are any specific mods you use to make your elder sims look less elderly?
Hi, nonny! I hope you're enjoying your tag deep dive. :) Sometimes I read through old posts to double check a detail and am like, oh crap, I forgot that happened! Like Eileen trying (badly) to seduce Maria.
Anyway, it's not really any mods, just the way I have my CC set up. I know there are mods out there somewhere to make elder sims walk the same way that adult sims do, but I don't use those. It's mostly a combo of:
A) downloading/making hairs that have the elder texture be the same color as the other ages, with a separate gray, so that elder sims have the option of going gray or keeping their original hair color. Because some people dye their hair, and not everyone's hair goes gray at the same rate or even gets very gray at all.
B) enabling a lot of my adult-age clothes for elder sims, so they can keep some of their wardrobe as they age. This does mean they use the adult bodyshape instead of the elder one. Tbh, I started doing this a long time ago to get some variety for my elder sims, and I've thought a few times of switching to clothes that actually use the elder bodyshape now that there's so many great creators making elder CC and age conversions, but I don't want to go through all my clothes again. I'm in too deep. :')
There's a tutorial here on how to enable clothes for different ages in SimPE, but you can also use Pick'N'Mix's new Clothing Organizer to do it. Or Wardrobe Wrangler, wherever it's hosted now, but the Clothing Organizer probably works best.
Oh, and I think most of my main skin sets don't have different face textures for elders? I use a few different sets of wrinkle makeup; most of them should be on this pinterest board.
I try to age my sims gradually, to make the adult-to-elder transition seem less jarring. A few wrinkles here, a bit of gray there. So their makeover right after their elder birthday may not be a drastic change, though I do usually try to make them look older when they get further into that life stage.
