your custom cassettes are really really cool! ive been thinking about making custom cassettes for a bit, would you be willing to share what kind of paper you used for the label stickers and j-cards? also where do you get blank cassettes from? ive been looking at cassettecomeback but i was wondering if there was a better option.
Thanks a lot! They're really fun to make hehe
So full disclosure: I run a merch shop for my webcomic and I make most of my stuff myself in my studio. I've been doing this for the better part of ten years and over that time I've accumulated quite a bit of specialized, expensive equipment like the photo printer and cutting machine I use to make my cassette ephemera. THAT SAID mixtapes don't necessarily need all that!! Unless you're running a bootleg business on etsy or somethin I don't think you and your friends gotta run out and spend a ton of money to make these (beyond tracking down a deck and a player, obviously).
Unfortunately most of these items are found on Amazon because I'm a professional artist trying to Live, but if that's something you'd rather avoid buying through I'm listing the brick and mortar places I can find them when I need to for whatever reason!
My j-cards are just the 8x10 glossy photo paper from Pen & Gear, it's usually less than ten bucks a pack at walmart lmao. I use it with an inkjet photo printer! There are plenty of laser printer options out there though, which is probably the type non-artists have access to. Honestly I think the look of black ink on colored copy paper is super cool for handmade tapes, especially between friends.
My sticker paper was a bitch to find and I'm not sure if it would be useful without my specific equipment, but it's this glossy adhesive photo paper from some rando company called LDProducts. Literally just called "Sticker Photo Paper" pf. It's more expensive but I get it in stacks of a hundred because I print tons of stickers for my shop. Again, glossy adhesive paper might not be useful without a big boy printer but MATTE sticker paper is everywhere, that's also pretty common to find at walmart or at the very least at an office supply store; you can print on it or even get out some markers (not sure i'd suggest anything besides ink tho, I'd be worried it could come off and damage the player). I design the labels in clip studio and then load them into cricut so it's super easy to get the right shape every time, but if you're Determined you could get out a measuring tape and an xacto knife and get similar results.
I've only found my tapes on amazon unfortunately, and it's been a while since I bought any because I sort of inherited a bunch of sealed ones when my dad died and i'm still going through them lol. Almost all my custom ones are 90 minute Sony High Fidelity, last I checked you could order them in packs of five or ten but I'm not sure what the prices are like rn. If you REALLY want to get fancy with colored shells/custom lengths i did find this cool site you can order from, Duplication.ca, but the shipping is kinda rough. One of these days I wanna make some cassettes for my webcomic and I'll drop some money on some pretty ones then, but for now the Sonys are treating me fine so I haven't dug too deep.
I hope something in here is useful! I'm always happy to share what I know but again, I'm very fortunate to have access to quite a bit of stuff most people don't and I try to be up front about it alskdjf. Cassettes are best when they're sorta janky and handmade tho, it's kind of the whole point, and if they're just for you or someone you care about then marking them with a sharpie and masking tape is just as cool in my opinion. probably cooler. everybody should put music on physical media and trade it i think.

Art Weekend - Ornamental Mixtapes V3 by Julia Ibbini
Using computer algorithms, Julia Ibbini creates complex designs inspired by Middle Eastern traditional symbolism as well as her Jordan and UK dual nationality background. She laser cuts these designs into paper and carefully layers them to create complex patterns and hand paints them with ink. The resulting designs are intricate and complex as inspired by Islamic geometry, embroidery, and meenakari enamel work.

*shines the OC rant laser on you*
i can't decide who to talk about so you get (at least) one fun fact about everyone. and most will be meta
brass lining: my first ever iterator oc. they were made over a year ago. they are my most "typical" (working to solve the great problem) iterator and though i don't develop much for them, they are important because i use them as a reference point for my other iterators
flight of the crows: their antenna are really hard for me to draw. why did i design them like that? because it looks cool. they are somehow both very emotionally intellegent and also unable to figure out how to handle other peoples emotions
chains by summer: originally, i based him off prometheus but now he more resembles achillies. i wouldve added more ancient greek influence to his design and atititude but greece nor a greece-like culture exist in rain world
three star songs: personally my favorite iterator color pallette that i made (i didnt make paradox). i consider her one of my more underrated iterators because i love her so damn much but i feel others are more interested in summer or paradox. NOTHING wrong with that by the way
paradox of creation: their lore was originally concieved because i am autistic about the immune system. now one of the greatest explorations of iterator anatomy and physiology ive done
salt wind blows: stole his name off of a username i saw somewhere. i dont really talk about her much but she's a secret favorite of mine
garden of bones: unrevealed because i want ita designer to post them first but their name comes from a song i thought was a sick iterator name for months
all the immunerators: each of them have at least one dot on their face, inspired by cell nucleus :)
equinox of winter: when i made them, i wanted to try drawing iterators different from what i usually do and in canon. very much will draw more bulky iterator ocs in the future!
call of the blade: she has three dots because she is based on a neutrophil. neutrophils have a three-lobed nucleus!
a perfect tragedy: it never moved in its can because the puppet is literally attached to the walls. its other structuremates cannot understand how it doesnt want to fidget
rising memory: vaguely inspired by the same origin as my sona! archivist from inscryption. help
bead from the branch: bead's body markings are based on a simplified drawing of antibodies, which b cells produce
blue lotus: already explained the origins but more flowers grow as it gets colder
arsonist: my first ever slugcat oc. her markingd were inspired by a black kite! if you know, you know
scholar: also vague inspiration from archivist inscryption... they have seen many iterators in their day and will keep meeting them too!
livewire: a vulture even smaller then a slugcat. three star songs made it after figuring out ghost was a bad messanger
the yoinky sploinky: two headed lizard i never did anything with and still has its placeholder name. based on the fact that reptiles are more often hatched with two heads then anything else
neuron slugpups: my friend blip was taking inspiration for designs to make. i said neuron flies. i later took home neuron pups for paradox
mixtape: bright blue coop pup i found. themed around an inspector
heart: an artificer sona :)

happy wip excerpt wednesday?
@fortunatetragedy tagged me and i've sat on the tag all the day because i have nowhere near enough cohesive words to share on The Singularity Project, but i did get some work done on the second draft for Driving Through Tunnels (With No Light at the End) by Fall Out Boy so here's 425 words from chapter 3.
for context, our main man Ricky was coming down from an adrenaline high at a Denny's somewhere in the middle of nowhere, only to get the shock of his life when the career counselor he met with exactly once over a year ago sits at his booth. it would've been a nice if awkward reunion if Mr. Raglan wasn't giving such serious serial killer vibes.
"Radical." "Radical? How old are you again?" "No, you don't get to give me shit when you're the one listening to Frankie Vallie on a mixtape, Steve." "They're classics. Just like my darling Bonnie here," he says, patting the dashboard. "You named your car?" "Am I to believe that you're a programmer who doesn't name his electronics?" Ricky thinks about it. "I had a Walkman I named Johnny when I was a teenager. After John Francis Bongiovi. From Bon Jovi." "I know who Bon Jovi is." "Do you? You seem pretty stuck in the 80s." Raglan makes a gesture with his hands that roughly translates to 'youth these days'. "That was the previous decade. Which was a good decade, mind you. And Bon Jovi has been around since '83." "Whatever, man." Ricky turns his attention towards the bleary outside world, thinking himself in circles. Maybe if he doesn't directly look at the mental block in his head, he might— "I don't normally bring young men home with me." To put it in physical terms, it's like his brain is a CD and the laser just snagged on a scratch. It's a joke, Ricky knows it is, but he can't help himself. "Stick to men your age, huh? Is that why your wife left?" Raglan's head whips towards him so fast it's a wonder he doesn't drive into a ditch. His mouth opens and closes like a robot with corrupted code. I can fix him, Ricky thinks. Then, with more seriousness than is merited, he says, "Family tragedy." Ricky would have felt bad for him if he didn't recognize it for the low blow it was. "Damn. That sucks." The shadows that half obscure Raglan's face transform him like shifting sand, revealing a long-buried structure hidden beneath. "How did your parents die?" The question comes as such a shock that Ricky can't process it for two songs. "How do you know that?" His aim for casual curiosity fails. Nobody knows about that. There is a very good reason why nobody knows about that. "It was on your file." Oh. "Car crash," he lies. "Dark, stormy night. My old man was trashed behind the wheel." Raglan glances at him again, steely eyes unreadable. "I'm sorry to hear that." The tone of his words does not match the look on him. "No one deserves to lose a loved one. Let alone both parents at once." "People die. That's how it goes." "That's how it goes," he echoes, then turns up the volume.
not exactly a tag game BUT if you want to share something, just blame it on me!

In your dreams, kid (Ch. 5: Quiet [n.] - Like silence, but not really silent
Fandom: Omori Timeline: Post Good Ending Ships: Suntan (Sunny/Kel) Links to First, Previous, and Next Chapter List of Accompanying Playlists for this Fic Pinterest Moodboard for this Fic Summary: Under Sunny’s hypocritical, well-intentioned advice, Kel puzzled over his mental checklist as the bruised house drifted out of sight, now a grey blur. An assortment of surgery, artery-clogging snacks? Check! Mixtape Sunny made special for him, covered in little red hearts and a doodle of the two of them holding hands? Check (No, actually, he will not read into that, thank you for asking). An 8-pack of Monster so Aubrey wouldn’t fall asleep at the wheel while he drives her mad with alien conspiracies and iSpy all night? Check! (Sunny downed three, the absolute madman, before they even stepped foot in the car, but he figured it still counted) Homework? ...check. An excuse for stealing Ms. Suzuki’s car, running away with her son and "future daughter-in-law", and showing up at his incredibly busy brother’s dorm room? You know, something even remotely better than “You sounded like you were about to cry over the phone last night and you don’t cry and I’m so worried and distracted and madly in love with you, I simply had to come check on you, so...Surprise!” ...He’d check that one off sometime before they got there. Probably.
He resigned himself to fixing this because he cared about his friends and wanted them to be okay, first and foremost. His primal, base need for some kind of goal to laser in on as a distraction from his own dark thoughts was barely an afterthought, honest.
It was Basil’s smile that hit Kel first, words tumbling after. Mischievous. Adoring. Laughing with him, not at him. It's the one Kel gave when the guilt of faking it weighed down on the corners of his mouth. He wondered if Basil carved the eerily perfect curve out of the good of the situation like he did.
“Hey, Kel.” Through some kind of witchcraft, Basil had managed to make his voice even softer, even smaller. Kel was grateful, he swore. He was grateful for everything they did, but the gentle almost-whisper was kind on his over-sensitive ears, even with how closely they sat together. They smiled, and it warmed him faster than the heated porcelain cupped in his hands. “How are you feeling?” Kel resisted the urge to lean into the hand now rubbing his back, aching for the raw, unabashed comfort of Sunny’s arms around his.
He could feel Basil’s eyes crawling all over him, but he’d sew his mouth shut before saying that. Unless the aforementioned witchcraft gave him the ability to read minds alongside his weird Poison Ivy thing, Basil didn’t know anything. Yet. He turned his eyes to the reflection in the cup just in case, wary of the residual guilt swimming in his eyes. He could spill over as easily as this teacup, if he wasn’t careful (and, historically speaking, he wasn’t).
“Fine.” He took a sip to avoid further suspicion before it dawned on him that oh shit, he liked tea now. Wack. “You?”
The counterattack raised an eyebrow and the tone of Basil’s voice, but what really made his blood freeze was the cross of his arms before holding a hand over his chest. It reeked of his mother and the persistent stench of her disappointment. “...I’m alright, but I’m not the one who woke up screaming and crying.”
Busted.
He gave it a good try though! Using their own signature move against the divine Masters of Deflection themselves took guts. Guts he’d spew all over the carpet if it weren’t for his rigorously trained immune system.
“I wasn’t crying.” He scrambled under Basil’s unimpressed frown for an excuse for such a blatant lie. “M-my body was just..” His fear slithers up, reaching to claw at his mouth before dragging something only believable to people who didn’t know him. Sunny and Basil knew him, for better or, in this mortifyingly dragged-out scenario, worse. ”...overworking itself in my sleep!”
Basil’s eyebrow was trying for the ceiling now. A noble goal, but Kel wasn’t giving up just yet. “N-no, seriously! It happens all the time when I play, I swear!”
“You don’t cry when you play.” Oh, now Sunny joins in? The one time he’s not encouraging him to speak up? Jesus, he was just trying to quell their worries. Is that too much to ask? Does he really need to know? “At least…” Sunny shifted his gaze down, just a tad. Enough for his eyes to follow in bereft anticipation. “...I don’t think you do.” Perhaps he should keep an eye or two out, he mused. To let the referee know.
Kel’s fingernails drummed against the cup and he wondered if this was how Basil felt like right before spiraling. He really hoped not. This felt too cruel for the universe to inflict, even for Basil, even once in a blue moon. The clinking was grounding. Harsh. Kinda rude if you ask him, with an oversensitive Sunny resting his head on his shoulder (Fuck, could Sunny feel the warmth spreading across his cheeks from there? It felt…inappropriate, considering the mood).
The makeshift metronome was relievingly reminiscent of the tea parties Aubery and Mari would drag a humoring Hero and an indifferent Sunny into (He recalled, regretfully, distracting an intrigued Basil with Spaceboy comics, rolling his basketball back and forth, whatever his tainted little mind could think of, tucked away in their cramped little corner). Kel wished he was there, that this hazy little early morning was as far away as a balloon let go of in his own overexcitement, getting smaller and smaller until it finally disappeared into the clouds.
Mari used to complain about his “wishing life away”. Probably ‘cause she knew how to spot the good in every living, breathing moment. Even moments like this.
He blinked hard. His eyes searched, scanned, adjusting to the darkness only to be met with his dead-eyed shadow dancing over boards and boards of dead trees.
Kel wondered what she’d say now. How she hid the faint shadow of distress from something as bright as her little sunshine. If she simply tucked it behind a lock of hair to circle the drain during her morning shower. Swallowed it only to puke it onto over some harrowing piano piece later.
Well, if he couldn’t be Mari (and believe him, he tried), he could be honest. One of them had to be, and Kel was a marvel at picking up the slack where his friends struggled. It was second nature at this point. Grateful, tiresome, rewarding second nature.
Sucking in a huge wavering breath, almost as if he could heave out the fear swirling in his lungs on the exhale, Kel spat out the most avoidant truth possible, which was absolutely not a copout, shut up.
“Only when you’re not watching!”
...Ah. A tad too truthful in his humble, humble little opinion. One could even call it a worst-case scenario. How did Hero do this again?
“…What…” Oh, that silence could swallow him whole if it wanted, and he wasn't in the sport of putting up a fight. “…does that…” God, fuck. “…mean, Kel?”
With all the care and precision in the world, Kel just...didn't answer.
“Kel, why are you crying when you play basketball?” He vaguely heard a pinch of halfhearted stammering. From him, he had to presume. “Kel? Kel-“ He’s folding now, blaming his losings on a rancid deck, when surely, he was just fumbling with understanding the unending rules- “Kelsey!”
Kel’s silence floated over the room, draping over the late-night conversationalists in a makeshift pillow fort. As if one of the light gray clouds outside seeped through the ceiling, too heavy with tears to drift away to safety.
Out of pure, dire necessity, Basil was the loudest voice in the room.
God help them all.

Unusual Findings delves into the unknown with support
Tumblr media
Unusual Findings game of amazing adventures has a Linux and Mac build with Windows PC. All due to the efforts of developer Epic Llama Games. Which has been available on Steam, since November 2022, while offering 80% Very Positive reviews. Jump into an amazing adventure inspired by the synthwave, neon lights, and 8-tracks. As well as cult classics of the era such as The Goonies and The Lost Boys. While you embark on an Unusual Findings journey that leads the boys to a chilling discovery of an impending alien invasion. Every choice you make affects the world around you. Since sweet talking can be the difference between life and death just as much as when you let your fists talk for you! Your choices will also affect your relationship with your friends. This determines how the story ends, so get ready to sharpen your detective skills!
And we also worked day and night to polish and release versions of Unusual Findings for macOS and Linux. This, of course, was in the plans, but only now we were able to get to it properly and fully release these versions. Hurray! ^^ Naturally, there are many other minor fixes, including some bugs that have been eliminated (we hope that's all, but if you come across those that we haven't caught, be sure to write to us!).
This is from the Steam Post from November 28th, 2022. But still, playing the Windows build brought a need for Linux. As a result, Epic Llama eventually offered a native build of the Unity 3D game. Christmas is coming. Vinny, Nick, and Tony are trying to decrypt a pay per view adult channel. Doing so with their brand new cable signal descrambler. But somehow they pick up the distress signal of an alien spaceship. One that is crash-landing in the woods near their town. Things only get weirder as they realize that the towering alien is killing specific members of their community!
Unusual Findings - Official Launch Trailer
youtube
Immerse yourself into a Unusual Findings world and gameplay that combines the mechanics of a classic point and click adventure. Such as Full throttle, but with its own unique twist. Check the Video Buster Store out for clues, challenge other kids at the Laser Llamas Arcades. You can also try to get along with the Lost Boys with their punk aesthetic in their hideout. Each decision you make in Unusual Findings affects the relationship between the three friends. As well as the entire story. Changing the way they solve each puzzle, how they visit each location and the answers they find.
Features:
Follow the Sci-fi coming of age story of three friends fighting together against the unknown… things. Maybe against some known things too.
Utilise “see”, “grab” and “talk” action tokens, take advantage of an Unusual Findings inventory. While you use and combine items as well as your wits. All you need to play the game.
Stylized Pixel art. All the charm of pixel art of the past with more colors. These are combined with the new visual effects of the future. Some pixels look so real they can almost jump out of the screen.
Go back to a simpler time when mixtapes were a thing, the Commodore 64 was king. Kids could go play outside at night and the only main thing of concern was the giant KILLER ALIEN trying to get you and your friends.
The decisions you make in Unusual Findings affect relationships between each of the characters. Thus by extension the puzzles, game progression, and story. Choose wisely.
The most radical music a synthesizer can play. Cool and thematic synthwave music is arranged into catchy tunes that are made exclusively for the game. All due to power up the 80s vibes for full immersion.
Unusual Findings is a game of amazing adventures for Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. Available on Steam, priced at $19.99 USD / £16.75 / 19,99€.

Modern AU where the strawhats still manage to accidentally destory a city without even knowing each other.
It all starts because Chopper, an usually intelligent raindeer, is being led from his zoo exhibit to be studied. He gets startled and somehow manages to run into some buttons that release all the animals in the zoo.
Luffy rides a giraffe around town for 4 hours before the cops manage to get him off of it. It takes 12 cars and an additional giraffe to get it done.
Smoker gets called to the scene as backup and upon seeing what's happening and who involved, smacks his head off his patrol car hard enough to leave a dent and deeply regrets his life choices.
Nami stole from a pimp thinking he wouldn't notice with the city in chaos. He does and and she ends up running from his scantily clad employees who keep pulling knives from increasingly impressive places.
Zoro almost starts an international incident after he falls asleep on the sidewalk, there's a pile of coins next to him because people keep leaving them thinking he's homeless, and a visiting country's leader trips over him and falls. Zoro wakes up long enough to call him an asshole and then promptly goes back to sleep.
A girl with pink hair and a dress with a hundred ruffles sees the whole thing. She's so outraged that she crosses the street to repeatedly hit Zoro with her umbrella and yell at him about respect.
Usopp accidentally loses some of his experimental plants down the sewer after a fucking rhino runs past his little shop. Something in it makes the sewer rats incredibly aggressive. They swarm the streets along with the zoo animals and focus on restaurants.
Sanji's restaurant is overrun by wave after wave of rats. They get into everything, even the chef hats and it's like ratatouille on crack.
Franky is in full survivalist mode and driving through the streets in a tank he made in his garage. It somehow has lasers on top and his pants on a stick like some kind of bizzare flag.
Brook has taken over the radio station in the midst of it all and is playing his mixtape on repeat.
Law contemplates throwing himself out the hospital window the third time the same sea shanty starts playing. Two nurses lure him back to his office with a coffee cup completely full of espresso.
Robin sits outside a destroyed coffee shop while sipping tea. Somehow she and the patio furniture she's using are completely untouched. She waves.
