significance -This keyring was a gift from my dad. It holds sentimental value from my childhood as it was an inside joke between my dad, sister and I. My sister has one that says 'go away'. My dad designed them, laser cut them, and gifted them to us on my sister's 21st birthday.

significance - I got this programme from the AGI conference I attended, I also now have it framed in my room, next to the poster I bought and the 2 books I bought. I got the programme signed by Lars Muller and Stefan sagmeister, two of the largest designers in the world, so I hold this close to me as I don't think ill ever get and opportunity like this again.
New thinking/connections - In terms of connections, I was also to physically connect with these designers which was a huge highlight for me in my career so far. AGI was a once in a lifetime event and I am so grateful I was able to attend. These designers have opened my mind to more concepts about design and the industry itself. The design community is so welcoming people are willing to help and give guidance.

significance - This is the first proper design book I have purchased and I was lucky enough to purchase it a lower price from AGI open. This book is the first within my own personal design library.

Internet research is also very helpful however I think that a book makes the research more valuable as you have gone out of your way to find the infromation rather than doing a quick google search.

Id say that that one is my most meaningful tattoo. The others are purely for aesthetics and just because I liked them. However they all have meaning as my best friend has done them all for me.
New thinking/connections - tattoos are another form of art that is very personal to each individual. Whether it be cultural, aesthetic, religious, or personal. Everyones tattoos have some meaning to them and they're all different in their own way and no two are the same.

Vulcanized Rubber StampsThe traditional red rubber stamp that everybody is familiar with will have been manufactured in a vulcanizing press. The first rubber stamp vulcanizing press was patented in 1890 by Charles Schultze in New Orleans USA. Vulcanizing is today one of the most cost effective methods of making rubber stamps for mass produced stamps. Each batch of stamps is produced using a mould. This method of manufacture is more suited to stamp making where the Socket Power Extension Cord suppliers same moulds are used over and over again. Making custom made stamps with a vulcanizing press requiring 'once only' moulds will drive the cost of manufacture up significantly.
Making the mould - before a mould can be made you must have a master plate manufactured from metal or polymer, the master plate has the necessary relief (the artwork is raised) to make an impression in the mould. Having a master plate made each time a mould is required is what drives up the cost of manufacture for vulcanized stamps. Pressing the master plate into a Matrix board creates the mould that will accept the rubber. Heat and pressure is applied to the master plate and matrix board inside a Vulcanizing press. The Matrix follows the shape of the relief provided by the master plate, this then hardens on cooling.Making Rubber Stamps - Creating stamps is a simple process once the mould is made. Raw rubber stamp gum is placed on top of the mould and then placed inside the stamp press. Hydraulic pressure is placed upon the rubber and the mould from within the stamp press causing the rubber to melt into the areas of the mould that contain the images and text, curing and hardening takes about 10 minutes.
Once cured the sheet of rubber is pulled away from the mould and cut up into individual stamps to be affixed to mounts.Cost of a vulcanizing system is approximately $12,000 AUDAdvantages - Low cost of production for mass produced stamps, good ink transfer.Disadvantages - Cost of producing master plates and moulds for custom made stamps.Laser Engraved Rubber StampsThe traditional raw rubber used for vulcanizing stamp dies is quite unacceptable for the production of laser stamp dies, the laser process requires a very even thickness and blemish free surface to produce an acceptable printed image from a stamp die. The rubber must also be subjected to a specific curing process before it can be exposed to the elevated temperature of a laser beam.The depth of the engraving is determined by the laser speed, its wattage and the density of the rubber.

Icarus was a pilot. If parsecs were dimes they might've afforded a better bed than the seedy bar backroom they found themselves in. They swung their legs out of the rusty bunk and stretched, polymer muscle strands straining against interlocking joints. Their eyes struggled to adjust to the low light, the room illuminated only by the rays of sunlight leaking through bullet holes in the walls.
Icarus unwrapped themselves from the thick leather poncho and draped it behind them. Off the floor they swept up an old wide-brimmed hat and fitted it evenly on their head. Against their chest was a cloth bundle that could be mistaken for an oil rag. Unwrapping it, Icarus removed the pair of revolvers that had been carefully preserved inside. Their antique, rigid design looked foreign in Icarus’ soft hands. They were clean and refurbished, but it didn't take a thorough examination to see the bolts from the replaced grip and the monofibre wire holding some of the pieces together. One was a deep red copper colour, with a grip custom-moulded to Icarus’ hand. Along the barrel was laser-engraved the word MAYHEM. It had a socket in the back where the hammer should have been. The second pistol was a deep metallic blue that reflected like ocean water. It was built identically, but engraved with the word MISCHIEF.
Icarus spun them and slotted them in the spring-loaded holsters on either side of their belt. They were perfect, and they were ready.

That thing, profane by the very nature of its artifice, was unmistakably organic. It had all the parts — arms, legs, ears, nose, and all — despite being so perfectly still one might mistake it for an art piece. Its features were androgynous and exactly symmetrical, broken only by a nasty gouge on the chin and split eyebrow. It had deep blue skin so smooth it was closer to marble.
And then it breathed. Lungs expanding with a whir. Six eyes snapped open. A cracked tongue wet parched lips. In an instant, inexplicably, that godless creation became a person. A person with a splitting headache and a groaning stomach.

How do you make your dice? They look so cool!
This is the first one I've ever made! I made a silicone mould of a large d20 and cast it with smooth cast, then sanding, lots and lots of sanding. Once this one is done being sanded I'm gonna use a laser engraver to add the numbers, then mould it again in silicone.

Hustle
Hello! We've got a bit of a snow-in! My trip to the studio today has been cancelled, but at least it's given me time to refine this post. I have to realize though that I want to offer the sequence of topics up to you again since I'm a hybrid artist with many skills! In-depth explanations of mediums will start next week, so be sure to vote on my stories on Facebook and Instagram to help me decide. I'll just run through my current projects! Glass-/Kilncast-related work is always ongoing when I go to the studio in Aylmer, where I build up my mould library. As I mentioned last time, I'm currently working on a modified clawring of my own. 3/4 of the components have their rubber castings, while the fourth is a bit of a doozy. The pieces have been adorned with symbols relating to death and the Cycle, and I have to work through this last one so that the sculpting is readable. At that size, I have to be very particular of what symbol I end of choosing. So far I have Ouroboros snakes forming infinity, but I'm still brainstorming the middle piece. After that's done I have to sculpt it with a suitable unity within its space, which is shield-like/coat-of-arms-y.​
The end game is to make a gauntlet out of impact beads or pewter. Then I plan (once my nails grow out and I take better care of my hands) to “wear” them and hold varying objects in a batch of alginate. I'd riggle my hand out (theoretically), leaving the gauntlet pieces and object wedged inside. Then I'd pour plaster to take the form of my hand, bonding with the object and pieces as well. It's obviously gonna take some trial-and-error, which is often my favourite part anyway.
I figured out what I'd like to use for my objects: small bottles with hollow-core sculptures! Pretty neat idea inspired by something in a game I play in my spare time. I have yet to work through my cores, but I've started collecting bottles to rubber cast. I've been meandering between thrifts stores scouting for interesting shapes of this size. They have to be a comfortable size to hold but not too small that the cores are impossible to read. At this scale they can be worthy tests!
For other wax/glass-related projects, I'll delve deeper into for the appropriate post. ​My Lonely Hydra project will finally be underway this weekend! I have both the blasted and laser-engraved plates for proofing. I'll be picking up the press from my collective later today when the snow dies down. I'm also hoping to pick up a tripod from my friend to record my process more easily. I considered maybe streaming the process live, but I'm on the fence. My workspace is not really that special and I tend to suffer from interruptions. I might change my mind, we'll see! Again, stay tuned for my stories for that.
With the press in my possession I can also revisit from old prints of mine and replenish my stock. There's something going on April 4th... clear your calendars for that date! Lastly, on the illustration front, which includes both traditional and digital stuff. Traditionally I don't do much except for commissions or my own pleasure, unless it's for a stained-glass project but I'm not putting that on my plate right now. What I have going on (for months!) is a personal ukulele. It's basically just a precious object decorated with my favourite things. The back of it is a bit complex so when I start painting, I can't be stopped or else it takes forever to actually cover ground. Once it's completed I'll string her up and finally start fiddling with it. I grew up playing piano but I did have some affinity with the guitar. A uke would be a nice thing to play with in my down time, too.
Digital stuff is still on the go, basically whenever I have an inclination to sit at my computer all day. I have never been one to run out of ideas, and in fact, I get so many that I have a hard time completing one at a time. That's something I hope to improve on. Online shops have been a bit quiet because of it. I did however play around in Art of Where, one of my store platforms, because I do enjoy its design space. Both “Gafferdite” and ���Gurasu Gods” have been renewed, this time in tandem with my shop's name, Spicy Honey Heart. I think they look pretty cool! I'll need to draw up an image logo to go along with it. I have a period of time coming up that'll be perfect for drafting these sketches.
