Metalocalypse OC week 2024, Day 2: Fankid, Fanparent, Fan-mily

Here’s a small unfinished snippet I wrote of Pickles & Lasagna’s last conversation when the band was captured by Salacia: (I’m not an expert writer lol forgive me)

Suddenly, he had a thought. He reached into his pocket.

Heh. Fuckers didn’t take his phone. Not like it’d be of any use by now, anyways.

His mind raced as he tried to think of who to dial. You know, in those final moments where you give a heartfelt goodbye to someone important to you before you bite the big one. The thought of his fellow band members flashed his mind first. Parents? Siblings? Old flames? Maybe he’d think to call Nathan if he weren’t with him.

Finally he picked one. As it rang, he was left with racing thoughts of how his life went. How it got to this point.

Then, a click.

“Hello?”

The voice of his teenage daughter, Lasagna. He felt a pang of guilt in the pit of his stomach as soon as he heard it.

“Hey, kid.” He spoke, throat dry as he tried to sound as casual as possible. “What’s uh… what’re ya up to?”

“Uh, I dunno.” She responded nonchalantly. “Just kinda playing Minecraft.”

Nobody told her. Good.

“That’s great, kid.” He smiled, regardless of the fact that he had no idea what a ‘minecraft’ was. “That’s real great.”

“What’s up with you? Are you okay?” Lasagna questioned, growing suspicious of his tone. Pickles let out a short, dry laugh.

“I’m good. Don’t worry about it.” He swallowed before speaking again. “Hey, I’ve got some uh… stuff to take care of right now, but once I’m done how about we go hit up the lunch special at Chili’s? Just me and you.”

The girl paused for a moment to think it over. “I dunno, you always get shit-faced at Chili’s and make me lose my appetite when you barf everywhere.”

“I won’t this time.” He answered almost immediately. “Whaddya say?”

“Okay. Sure.”

“Cool.” He replied. He heard heavy footsteps quickly getting closer to their location. Time was running out.

“Gotta go. I um… I love you, kid.”

The girl laughed a bit, mistaking the comment as a joke. “Love ya too, dad. See ya.”

A Vivi and a Swedish Meatball for @pan-flute-skeleton who got me with a whole freaking fanfic. It was hard to pick a scene from her fic, Syndrome, but I settled on something cute and cuddly in the Dethlimo. :D

And finally... A Lasagna for @goblin-a-gogo as a thank you for continuing this ongoing saga with one of my own characters. Seriously, though -- you wanna be a rockstar just taking a walk and don't care to talk to the press? Bring an adorable baby with you to distract them. :D

Y'all didn't have to do such nice things for me, but you did anyway. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for brightening my whole week - every single one of you. :)

Dec 13 Improvised snowman decoration

Happy Winter Wonderklok, guys! 🖤 This entry features @goblin-a-gogo's sweet baby Lasagna! 🖤

"He's missing something," Pickles said.

He and Lasagna stood in ankle-deep snow on the grounds of Mordland, pondering the snowman they'd built. What was wrong with it? It had eyes and a nose and a mouth and skinny stick arms, like snowmen were supposed to have. Lasagna had even given it her hat with the little puffball on top. What was missing?

"He needs a scarf." And there was St. Cecilia, her winter wear such a pale pink that she almost blended right into the snow. Was she here for a visit? Pickles hadn't invited her, but he liked having her around anyway. It must have been Charles, who held her close with an arm draped around her hips, that had invited her.

Lasagna was the one to pipe up, saying, "We don't have one." As bundled up as she was under multiple turtlenecks, the words came out muffled, but St. Cecilia must've understood anyway, because she carefully unwound her scarf, placing it around the snowman's neck. It was barely visible, save the big black Chanel logos on each end.

St. Cecilia pursed her lips, murmuring, "That doesn't really help, does it?"

Lasagna mirrored St. Cecilia's expression under her layers, saying, "Nah."

Pickles cast a glance over at Charles. "Hand it over, Charlie," he said, and with a fond roll of his eyes, Charles put his scarf in place of St. Cecilia's. He said, "That, ah, does look better."

He was right. The red was much nicer against the snow than the white of St. Cecilia's scarf.

As St. Cecilia wrapped her scarf instead around Lasagna's already bundled little body, she said, "I hear Jean-Pierre's making hot cocoa. You two ought to hurry, wouldn't wanna miss it, would you?"

"Ooh!" Even as wrapped up as she was, Lasagna's response came through loud and clear. "Race ya, Pickles!"

Though Pickles made to run, Charles and St. Cecilia grabbed hold of him as Lasagna took off across the grounds, giggling gaily as she went.

Barely keeping her grip on Pickles as he laughed and squirmed, St. Cecilia called after her, "Go, Lasagna, go!"

Pickles should have known better than to hire a party dinosaur for his wild child (featuring ride-or-die Toki who's always down for a fight)
