I don't think Van is the bad guy as many people think and I am not just saying it because is VAN. However, I am not very fond of Larry. Actually I never was. Obviously I don't know him but I have created a certain image about him based on what I have seen and heard and I wonder what was his part on their fallout.
Yessss. I don’t either. There was a time I did, there was a time I was heavily influenced by people who had insight into things and Van and I was like…yikes. But now, idk. I feel and think differently. And I literally cannot explain what it is about Larry…maybe like you said, it’s from what I’ve seen and heard, but I’ve often wondered the same thing. THIS IS SPECULATION I’m not trying to drag the lake or bring up old rumors or ANYTHING, I’m just agreeing and I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this way.

Hi. Many larries used the song 7 as a "proof" just because it begins with Larry. I wonder if someone have already took a better look at the lyrics to try and analyze them more globally to better understand the choice. I was always being ambivalent because of the first sentence which gives me mixed feelings.
Hi anon! I’m not the best person for song analysis, but for me it’s not about the actual song lyrics per se. I don't even think songs he's written are "proof" of anything, necessarily, unless they are combined with other evidence/proof.
Surface wise, I think 7 is a song about being separated from the person you love. (Rumored to be about Catfish’s lead singer, Van McCann and one of the Haim sisters, though this post goes down a rabbit hole speculating that it's about Van and his bandmate Larry Lau: A Million Visions and Revisions (The Larry Song by Van McMann.) And well, the song DOES have Larry's name in it, so there may be some truth to that, who knows. This is from Genius: Catfish and the Bottlemen – 7 Lyrics | Genius Lyrics
But as a cover song for Louis, the importance of him singing a song with the name of the relationship he purportedly hates either means he doesn’t hate it or doesn’t care that we speculate about it. He continues to sing the song even with all the speculation.
Just saying the word Larry onstage over 100 times, for me, is proof enough that he doesn't hate it. Is it proof they are together? No. Definitely not proof they are together. It's just one thing in a long list of things that hint at their relationship. He chose that song from literally thousands of songs he could have covered.
I think proof is a slippery slope. We don't really have definitive proof of their relationship, because they are still closeted. I wrote a blog post last year explaining why I think they are still together.
I hope this was helpful.

What's one key nickname that impacts them a lot?

// Besides the nicknames "Larry", "Lala", "Lau-Lau", or "Pretty Boy", i think there are more nicknames that can make the silly man feel giggly,,,-
One of them is "Laurie", exclusively used by Angel and Rosie. Mostly Rosie, because she finds it sweet. Laurence always melts internally by the simple but sweet name.

I’m With the Band Part 33

Words: 2k
I’m With the Band Masterlist Main Masterlist
It soon becomes quite apparent that I'm going to have to compromise and take some shortcuts when it comes to my beauty routine whilst on tour. The bathroom is small and cramped with a tiny shower reminiscent of the caravan holidays of my childhood that I've tried to block out, and a toilet that I've been warned about not using for 'anything more substantial than a wee'. These were the bus driver's words as he'd emerged with a grim look on his face as he'd recounted a tale of blocked pipes and overflowing sewage on his last tour with another band. That's probably a good thing being as I'll be sharing my living space with nothing but male company for three weeks.
I make short work of clearing out the rank-looking bottles of various men's toiletries in the cabinet, replacing them with my own array of luxury products. I take great delight in pouring the contents of an industrial sized bottle of some cheap brand of 2 in 1 hair and body wash down the sink. Who on earth uses that stuff anyway?
Fifteen minutes later the bathroom is full of my own toiletries and beauty products and smells like the perfume counter in Selfridges. That's much better.
I know Van will likely be livid that I'm taking over but I don't care. It's about time those boys started taking better care of themselves. I have visions of pamper sessions where I treat the guys to facials and manicures, wondering if maybe Van or Bondy would let me paint their nails?
Getting ready doesn't take me too long. I slip into a tiny figure hugging dress, pull on my docs and touch up my make up. I'm eager to get to the venue, wondering what mischief I can get up to, determined to make my first night on tour a memorable one.
"So... who are you with?" A burly security guard steps forward as I make for the back door of the venue, barring my way.
"I'm with the band," I say, my voice loaded with suggestiveness, and it doesn't go unnoticed.
He raises an eyebrow, taking in my too-tight dress and cherry red lips that are puckered into a pout. "Oh right, I see. So which one you shagging then?"
I shrug, noncommittal. "I've not decided yet..."
The venue is much bigger than the room the band had played in Manchester just last week. An unexpected swell of pride warms me through as I make my way through a maze of narrow corridors, the loud thrum of Bondy's guitar echoing off the walls, guiding me to my destination. I'm starting to understand why people get so excited in the run up to gigs, anticipation is thick in the air as I push through into the backstage area and hear enthusiastic chatter from the lads as they tune up their instruments. I can only imagine how they must be feeling on this first night of tour, debuting their songs to a fresh audience who might not be familiar with their sound. Excitement and nerves churn inside me and I'm only a spectator.
"Alright Bella, you settled in okay?"
Van cuts his noisy riff dead as soon as he catches sight of me lingering near the side of the stage.
Five pairs of eyes instantly fix on me and I simmer under the spotlight, placing my hands on my hips as I speak.
"Uh-huh, I mean it's not exactly The Savoy but I guess it'll do... just for a few weeks... and I actually think we're gonna have a lot of fun together."
I look around the stage, taking in Bob's shy smile, Benji's eager expression, Bondy's warm open grin and Van's lips curved into a cocky smirk. At first glance they're a bunch of misfits, but now I've got to know them a little better I know that their differences complement each other's in perfect synchronicity. Quite simply... it works.
And then I glance to the side to see Larry's stern glare, the precision that he watches me with like I'm just about to launch myself at one of his precious mates and devour them whole. I can't help but shoot him a saccharine-sweet smile like I'm innocence incarnate.
"What's up Lau-ie?" I giggle, addressing him by the affectionate nickname that earned him the very name that stuck so fast in childhood that even his parents started favouring it rather than his birth name of Joshua.
"Nothing," he says quickly and defensively. "But you can make yourself useful now you're here. These set-lists need taping to the stage. Just put them where the lids can see 'em."
My automatic reaction to a command is to grumble and refuse, but I reason with myself that he's not actually asking me to do anything that taxing, and besides, it'll give me the perfect opportunity to ingratiate myself further with the boys.
I make my way over to Benji first, smiling to myself when I note he quickly averts his eyes down to his bass. There's no point in him acting coy, I'd already clocked him checking me out the moment I'd emerged on to the stage.
"Hi Benji, how's it going?" I say brightly, sinking down on to my knees at his feet, busying myself with taping the corners of a set-list to the stage flooring. "That girlfriend of yours been in touch with you yet?"
"Yeah, she did but it's not good... we... errr we broke up. Found out she was seeing someone else behind my back didn't I?"
Benji's voice is quiet with an edge of bitterness, and I look up at him from my spot. "Aww I'm so sorry, that's awful. I can't believe she'd do that to you."
"Ahh it's okay, it's probably for the best... ya know... with touring and all that... and I guess it was bound to happen anyway. I've been so busy with gigging we've barely seen each other."
He tries for a smile that doesn't reach his eyes and I rise up quickly, any seduction plans forgotten in an instant. I place a hand gently on his arm. "Don't you go blaming yourself, just because you're not there it doesn't give her a cheating pass. She could have waited for you, she must've known what she was getting into when she started dating such a successful rockstar!"
Benji's eyes grow wide. "Well I'd hardly say..."
"Don't even think about putting yourself down!" I cut him off, giving his arm a reassuring squeeze. "You guys are going to be massive, I just know it. Larry said it's a sell-out tonight and this venue's huge. You'll have girls falling over themselves in no time, you just wait... and then your ex will really see what she's missing won't she?"
This time there's genuine warmth in his smile and I push myself up on my tip-toes to plant a small kiss on his cheek before I turn away, purposefully ignoring Larry who I can see watching me in my peripheral vision. For once I'm not actually up to no good, and if he thinks I'm going to rein in my naturally flirtatious and confident demeanour around his friends then he's very much mistaken.
I don't even try to flirt with Bob, now I've met his girlfriend Lucy he's strictly off limits. I've only spent a small amount of time with her but I still consider her a friend nevertheless. I might have questionable morals at times but that's a line I simply won't cross. I chat amiably with Bob whilst I secure a set-list next to his kit, my eyes nearly popping out of my head when I come face to face with a giant sperm logo on the skin of his kick-drum.
"Oh my god Bob, what's all this?" I laugh, completely shocked that demure Bob would have such an overtly sexual symbol displayed on his kit for all the world to see.
"That's Van's idea, it's got nothing to do with me!" He cries, cheeks reddening. "And it's actually the cover for the Homesick single... we've got it on some of our merch too."
"People actually wear that stuff?" I wonder out loud, shaking my head. Trust Van to come up with something like that.
Johnny's next and as I step over he grins at me, brandishing his guitar. "You still up for those lessons then, eh?"
"I can try but I don't think I'll be any good. You make it look so easy..." I trail off, glancing down to see a board covered in pedals and switches at his feet. "What the hell does that lot do?"
"I use these for all my effects and stuff...it's not as complicated as it looks." He flicks a switch with the toe of his boot and starts to effortlessly pick out a complex and captivating solo, the atmospheric sound rattling and reverberating through my bones... in a totally good way.
"Wow," I breathe out, impressed. I'm so mesmerised that I don't even notice that Van's crossed over to where I'm standing.
"He's great ain't he?" He nods in his friend's direction appreciatively. "Plays like there's ten of 'im."
"I suppose you're surplus to requirement then aren't you?" I tease him and he jabs me in the ribs, playfully tickling me, making me squeal out loud.
Once the set-lists are down I think I'm free to roam the venue but Larry has other ideas. He hovers around like an annoying fly, instructing me to fetch bottles of water for the band and towels for Van. I roll my eyes, mumbling something about not being Van's maid-servant, but I grudgingly decide to comply. It's only day one and I don't want to cause too many waves this early on. There's plenty of time for the boys to find out that my talents are wasted running around doing menial tasks. I stomp off into the back room dutifully, opening up the fridge.
"Psst... Bella! Over here!"
"Huh?" I whirl around quickly in the direction of the hissed whisper, arms loaded with water bottles.
Van's standing there wearing a sly grin and I watch as he glances around furtively, making a beckoning motion with his fingers. "Fancy... err... sneaking off somewhere? Got plenty of time till doors. C'mon... Larry'll never find out. I know just the place."
"And what makes you think I want to sneak off... with you?" I try to keep a straight face but I'm giggling inside at the frustrated groan that slips from his lips.
"Come on love, it's the perfect opportunity... and it's a great way to burn off excess energy before a gig! I'm fucking buzzing with it tonight! Don't you wanna help me out eh?"
I can't deny that I'm tempted. My thoughts go back to Van cornering me in the toilets at the last gig and what we got up to pressed up against the sink. There's something undeniably exciting about the sneakiness and the roughness of it all, a steamy encounter in a grimy back room, clothes half-on, half-off whilst we paw and grab at each other. The sharp rut and thrust of Van's hips as he'd fuck me with every ounce of pent-up energy that he possessed. A shock of heat pulses through me but it fades just as quickly as it arises. It's all too easy with Van and that's the problem.
"But I am helping you out!" I say like Van should be only too aware of the sacrifices I'm already making for him. "Larry's got me running around like a bloody skivvy after you lot. Here, these weigh a tonne." I thrust the water bottles towards him and he quickly takes them out of my arms before he's looking back up at me, dejected even though he's trying his hardest to hide it.
"I just thought that maybe we could..."
Van's words are cut short by the sound of the door swinging open and we both turn, my heart sinking like a stone as I recognise the girl from outside the tour bus earlier. She comes to an abrupt stop, eyes flicking between us both, her bottom lip caught in her teeth before she releases it with a giggle, light and airy and daintily feminine.
"Oh I'm sorry guys... I'm not interrupting anything am I?"
