Nightmares or Daydreams

summary: you and the guys have a movie night but you get a panic attack and they help comfort you

It had been three days since you had a good sleep, or sleep at all. Everything has been annoying or not working out for you, making it even worse. You needed time to refresh or just get away for a while so you headed over to the guys house since they wanted to hang out. It wasn’t for a video so you didn’t have to worry about putting on a face, they just wanted to have a small movie night, drink and chill out. It sounded nice so you got some comfy clothes and headed out.

You knocked on their door, Larry opening it and welcoming you in with a bright grin.

“We haven’t picked a movie out yet since everyone is still busy. Nick and Tanner went out to get snacks so they’ll be back soon.” Larry led the way to the living room, flopping onto the couch with blankets. 

“That’s cool, I don’t really care what movie we watch. Just nothing boring or I’ll fall asleep.” Crashing onto the spot next to him and getting comfortable. Leaving your place was a nice change of pace, and spending time with others was better than yourself. “What kind of snacks were they getting?” Hoping they would grab tasty snacks and not something that sounded awful that they wanted to try and possibly spit out.

“Don’t worry, they know what you like. I don’t know about the rest of us though, they might get something gross that’ll make us puke.” Both laughing at the idea. About 5 minutes went by when Yumi emerged from his room and joined us on the couch, but not before stopping at the kitchen to grab a drink for himself. 

“How long have they been gone? It’s been like a fucking hour.” He was on his phone but the question was directed at mostly Larry. It was like they heard Yumi complaining cause they pulled in the driveway, being loud enough they could be heard through the front door. You saw they were carrying a lot of bags so you got up to help, grabbing some of Tanner’s bags to put on the kitchen island. 

Taking everything out of the bags and looking at what all they bought and trying to find your snacks. “Thanks, your candy and chips should be in one of these bags.” Nick told you while putting the candy in one stack and chips in another. While you three were sorting the items out, Larry and Yumi were fixing the blankets and bean bag so everyone had somewhere to sit. 

Nick realized that everyone but Isaac was out here, asking out loud if someone wanted to get him so we could start the movie night. “I can get him.” Being the only one who volunteered and went to his room before Nick called out, “He shouldn’t be asleep, but if he is, just slap him. He needs to get his ass out here.” 

You rolled your eyes at his suggestion, you weren’t going to slap him but it was a funny idea. Knocking on the door loud enough that if Isaac was asleep he could hear it. “You awake or dead?” Having to put your ear near the door to hear any response since the guys were making so much noise. You heard a quiet hum, meaning that he at least heard you, “Can I come in?” Still having some trouble hearing him over the noise. 

“Yeah!” He called out and you opened the door. Peeking your head in to see where he was, finding him facing his computer with his back towards you. Stepping inside the room and shutting the door halfway so it’s quieter and he can hear you. “What’s up?” not moving away from the screen. “Nick and Tanner came back from the store. We’re just waiting on you now.” Walking near him to see what he was working on and leaning down to see the screen too. 

“What are you doing anyways? Looking at porn?” Laughing and wondering what he’s been doing this whole time. “Oh yeah, definitely. I had to watch my 30 minutes of porn for the day and I just finished.” Sarcastically remarking at the joke and mocking a moaning sound. “I was just editing some stuff, I’m almost done.” Actually answering the question. 

“Take your time, they haven’t picked out a movie yet and it might be awhile before they decide on something.” Sitting down on his bed and laying back, staring up at the ceiling. Letting your mind wander with clicks and tapping being the only thing heard besides the faint talking in the background. With a few more clicks and taps Isaac turned off the computer, the only light source now coming from the crack through the door frame. 

“I’m done, let’s see if they’re fighting.” Getting up from his chair and ushering you out first, closing his door behind him and heading to the living room. He was right about them arguing but it was mostly for fun, just jumping on each other to get the remote and choose what to watch.

They were all crowding the couch so the bean bag was the safest option, and the one you had by yourself so it was an easy pick. Sitting before Isaac tried to take it, sticking his tongue out at you and moving one of the guys to the side to make room for himself. You saw that the snacks and drinks were on the table so you grabbed yours, grabbing an extra drink as well since you knew it would be gone before you could blink. 

You were just enjoying the screen playing whatever was left on auto play while they were still figuring out what to watch but it didn’t take long before they involved you. “What do you wanna watch?” “Not some girly shit.” “Shut up dude.” Each of them overlapping what they were saying and barely being understood, but enough to where you could answer. “I’m fine with whatever, just pick something before I fall asleep or leave.”

Tanner took the opportunity to snatch the remote out of Yumi’s hand and start scrolling through the movies. Yumi complained that it wasn’t fair since he wasn’t paying attention but Nick made a deal saying he could get the next turn which he was fine with. Tanner had picked something out that none of you have ever heard of before, so it was probably going to be something so bad it's funny. 

Starting the movie wasn’t so bad but once it got a few minutes in, everyone was laughing at how bad the acting was. The main actors were the worst and it was so hard to take a sip without spitting it out from laughing. Feeling a bit chilly you looked over to see if there was a spare blanket, getting caught by Nick as he saw you sit up. He leaned down to your level and whispered, “You ok? You need something?” He was always making sure you were fine and you appreciated it, letting him know you were cold and wanted a blanket. “Oh here.” Scooting closer to you and handing over his blanket to cover you up. 

Waving your hands out to decline his offer but Nick being Nick, he was stubborn about making sure you were alright. Even when you were about to get up and grab a blanket yourself, he tossed his over you and made sure it covered your feet too. It was kind of embarrassing and made you lightly blush, thankfully it was dark in the room so no one could see your face right now or you probably wouldn’t hear the end of it. You mumbled a thanks to him but apparently he didn’t hear it since he leaned in closer again to find out what you said. “What?” he whispered near your ear. Struggling even more to talk, “I said thanks.”

Since he was so close to you, he could see the blush on your face and quietly laughed. He ruffled your hair and went back to watching the movie, stealing some of Yumi’s blanket from him and covering his feet. You pulled the covers over your shoulders, since he was so adamant in giving it to you, you might as well use it and get cozy. 

After the first movie, it was Yumi’s turn to pick. You got up to grab some water while he was in the middle of looking. You went to their fridge, unknowingly having someone follow behind you with silent footsteps. When you closed the fridge someone grabbed both your shoulders, causing you to scream and whip your head around. Tanner was the one to scare you as he was laughing while still holding onto you. The others heard you scream but they didn’t bother to find out what caused it since they all saw Tanner creeping behind you.

“What the hell?!” a shaken voice coming from you. “Sorry, but I had to. You looked like you were about to die of boredom.” He let go of your shoulders to grab a water bottle too. “You didn’t need to do that, I wasn’t gonna knock out anytime soon,” Having a half-assed smile and leaning on the kitchen island. “But I might knock you out if you do that again.” Now you being the one to laugh while he faked acting scared. 

Rolling your eyes at his act, he pulled you into a side hug and squeezed you hard enough it felt like he took the air out of your lungs. You tried to pry yourself out of his grip but failed as he dragged you back towards the couch with him. He got back to his spot so you tried again, and failed again, as he flopped down on the couch taking you with him. Luckily no one was sitting where you fell so it wasn’t that weird, except that Tanner didn’t seem like he was planning on letting go any time soon. 

He was definitely an affectionate person so it wasn’t surprising, but it was hard to get used to it and not feel awkward or flustered. “Can you let me go?” You asked him. “Ugh, do I have to?” He whined and pouted. “Yes. You can cuddle with Yumi when he gets back.” Pushing the affection off on Yumi, knowing he’ll be annoyed at both you and Tanner. “Fiiiine.” Dragging out the word as he releases you from his grip so you can move places. 

Yumi had come back from wherever he was and sat next to Tanner as you sat back on the bean bag. He didn’t have time to even get comfortable before Tanner tackled him. He immediately pushed him off and groaned at his attempt. Yumi was the same as you in not being too affectionate or showing any if at all, sometimes acting mean as his way of showing it. Everyone was laughing at Yumi’s reaction and throwing in their own joking displays of kissing and hugging each other. 

Yumi had caved and compromised with Tanner that he could lay his legs on his lap and Tanner was more than happy to agree. Everyone got back to their spaces except for Larry who was joining you on the giant bean bag. Moving over to give him some space and passing half the blanket to him. 

After a few minutes of watching, things were slowly starting to blur together. Still shoveling pieces of candy into your mouth and chewing even though you were zoning out. Not realizing that you drifted to sleep after the countless hours of tossing and turning in your own bed, having a giant bean bag be the solution to your problems. 

It was peaceful, feeling lighter than air and surrounded by the softest clouds. Everything felt nice and sweet, but it was cut short. The air was gone, leaving you to grasp at anything you could. Not sure what you were trying to get but wanting anything, something to just calm you down. Subconsciously scratching your arm to feel the harsh sting rather than the drowning fear in your lungs. Opening your eyes was no use, darkness was the only thing you saw and it was hard to tell if you were even awake or not. And you needed to know. 

Burying yourself further in the giant bean bag, trying to gain back your sanity but failing desperately. You didn’t realize that by doing so, the sound of shuffling and scratches was heard by someone right next to you. He didn’t think much of it, until he felt your leg lightly kick him. Rubbing sleep from his eyes he looked over to see what you were doing, thinking you were getting up to go to the bathroom. But once he heard you breathing deeply and hurriedly, it fully woke him up. With one arm you were scratching furiously at the other one clutching the front of your shirt. 

Larry wasn’t sure what was happening but he needed you to calm down first. Reaching over and placing his hands on your shoulders to steady yourself. Startled by the sudden touch, it was hard to make out but realized it was Larry. Feeling embarrassed by waking him up you scooted back into the corner where he couldn’t reach you, getting quieter so he couldn’t hear. “What’s wrong? Are you gonna throw up?” He asked in a hushed tone as he brought his hand up to your forehead, noticing how warm you are. “You’re burning up.” This made him more uneasy, so he decided to wake up the closest person on the couch. 

Shaking their leg to wake him up and help. Nick wasn’t happy about that and looked at Larry upset, but once he saw both you freaking out and Larry concerned he calmed down. “What happened? Is she ok?” Nick was worried but didn’t let it show so Larry wouldn’t freak out. “Uhh, I don’t know. I think she’s sick or something?” Larry went to grab a cold wet towel to place on your forehead. Nick looked over to you and saw what was happening, you were having a panic attack. He knew what it was like but wasn’t sure how you dealt with it, but the first thing he needed was to see you properly. 

The tv had turned off at some point, so the only light on was the kitchen where Larry was. Nick nudged Yumi’s leg to wake him up, causing him to groan and mumble. He kicked one last time and woke him up just to get cussed out just as quick. “What the fuck do you want?” Tanner’s legs were still on him so he pushed them off which caused Tanner to almost fall off the couch. 

“Turn on a light or something.” Nick glared at Yumi then adding a small, “Please.” Turning his attention back to you while Yumi mumbled about wanting to sleep but finding a light source anyways. You were still scratching hard enough that if someone didn’t stop you, blood would draw soon. Nick took Larry’s spot on the bean bag and slowly scooted closer, still giving caution but wanting to help. 

Yumi was able to turn a small lamp on while Nick reached out to you, putting his hands on your shoulders to ground you. He drew in a breath and out, wanting you to mimic it. Your darting eyes were able to settle on his chest, finding the motion calming and not wanting to look into his eyes. Nick lifted his hand to your head, fixing your hair a bit before looking back at you to see if it was helping. 

Your breathing had steadied but you were still struggling, stopping in scratching but still clutching to your shirt. He noticed this and pulled you closer, having you lay your head on his lap. Nick moved some loose strands of hair that stuck to your face away, feeling how warm you were. 

The light was right in Isaac’s face, having him wake up and Tanner rubbing sleep from his eyes. Larry had finally come back with a drenched rag, placing the coldness on your burning forehead. “What took you so long?” Nick fixed the rag so it wasn’t on your hair. “I couldn’t find a rag.” Larry nearly shouted, already frustrated in taking so long. 

“You did what?” Isaac yawned while focusing his attention towards the two on the bean bag. “Is she sick?” Tanner leaned over to see closer and rested his head on Larry who took a seat on the floor. It was hard to hear what they were talking about, only hearing your breaths and ringing. The cold rag helped in easing the headache that was slowly forming. 

Isaac and Yumi left the room, going into the bathroom to find some medical supplies that’ll help with your arm. They came back just as quick, dropping what they had on the table and going through it. Tanner tried to help, grabbing the box of bandaids and opening them. Larry got the cotton balls and pulled half the bag out. 

Everything was still slightly blurred, the only thing that helped ground you was Nick running his hands through your hair. He spoke softly, warning about a sting. It didn’t register to you what he meant, but once two hands grabbed your wrist it was easy to tell. The burning sensation made you hiss and try to pull out of whoever’s grasp, failing as they continued. 

“Sorry, we’ll be done in a second.” Isaac mumbled as Larry dabbed the soaked cotton balls and handed it to him. Tanner opened a heap of bandaids and Yumi blew on your arm to dry the rubbing alcohol enough so it wouldn’t fall off. Nick made you look at him again, wanting your breaths to steady. He helped in grounding you again, so after 30 seconds the pain was fading into just small pokes.

It was from Tanner and Yumi as they finished putting the bandaids on. Larry scooted closer to the bean bag, “We’re done,” looking at you then towards Nick, “Do I need to change the towel?” You stared at the two, “I think she’s fine for now.” Larry nodded. The other three were cleaning up the mess and calming down themselves. Once they were done, Tanner came back and shyly asked, “Can we sleep on the floor?” Isaac placed a hand on his shoulder and said they could grab more pillows and blankets for everyone. 

Nick handed you off to Larry as he helped set the blankets on the floor for a softer bedding. You slowly sat up and took the rag off, still having a slight shake and deciding to lean on Larry for the time being. “Do you want some water? Or a snack?” He whispered, you nodded and held up one finger to signal for just wanting water. Not having the strength to speak, finding it more draining. 

Yumi took the rag and went to grab a bottle so Larry could stay, coming back and opening it so you didn’t have to. Giving him a weak smile and taking it, slowly downing half the cold drink. A sigh came out once the bottle was empty. They moved you to the middle of the covered floor, making sure everything was close by. When you got comfortable, the others squished together and threw blankets over everyone. The headache went away and in place sleep and exhaustion began to creep back. 

The sun began to peek out from the curtains, waking you up. A pair of arms kept you from getting up, noticing they belonged to Nick and Larry. The rest were still sleeping and entangled with one another. Trying not to wake them, you pushed their arms aside and got up. Once you left the ‘bed’ the two moved closer to the other, leaving them to sleep more while you went to the bathroom. 

Feeling the cold hard floor through your socks, locking the door and washing your hands. The sight of your arm covered in bandaids caught your eye, suddenly feeling embarrassed from needing their help. But you couldn’t help but stare at the colorful disarrangement that decorated your arm, having a different kind of embarrassment come up. 

Instead of going back to the pile you went to the kitchen, finding the ingredients to make pancakes. Making sure they had enough chocolate chips to make who knows how many, wanting to make them fluffy so it’ll taste extra good. The smell woke Isaac up, stretching and coming over to lean on the kitchen island. “How are you feeling?” He tried to keep quiet and took a bite of a pancake, humming at the taste. 

You stopped for a second to think, “Better now. Thank you." He brushed it off, "I'm just glad you're ok." You went back to cooking, turning around so he couldn't see your face heat up, "You guys didn't need to. I would've been ok after a while." Adding three more pancakes to the plate, Isaac opened the fridge and grabbed eggs. He scooted you over and began to cook, explaining how they wanted to help and make sure everything was ok. You gave him a soft smile and small laugh, "I might need to buy some more bandaids for you guys. You guys used a lot of them." 

Tanner yawned and joined the two of you, "We didn't know how many you needed. Those smell good." He grabbed some and put it on a plate. Soon the other three woke up, making the kitchen full of noise and adding other smells of breakfast. Since you made the pancakes, the others were in charge of whatever else they could think of. Everyone had made way more than usual, having plenty for lunch and possibly dinner too. You thanked each of them separately and they all said the same thing, in their own ways, that they were glad everything was fine now and they would always make sure you were fine. 

For the next hours, you all ate and hung out. Spending more time together and appreciating how much they made you happy. The idea of going back alone was boring, so you asked about staying the night again. And of course, they said yes.

If you're significantly shorter than Isaac (as an average person would be), he loves the fact he towers over you. He will remind you of it all the damn time.

He uses you like a little armrest, coming up behind you and putting his arms on your head or shoulders, using his phone or just talking to the boys while his arms are draped onto you.

Isaac likes to take pictures with you in them, and angle his head out of the photos for obvious reasons. With his height, it's really easy to pull it off. He posts all of them.

In public, don't expect any creeps to approach you. The second he stands behind you, towering over you, nobody dares to come near.

If you're significantly smaller than him, brace yourself. He's really big in all senses of the word, and it's gonna take a while to get used to it.

The guys didn’t know I was over, though I didn’t have an issue with them they can be very loud and chaotic at random times Instead of spending time with my boyfriend he was instead sitting at his desk on a discord vc recording a video with isaac and the others. As I was scrolling through my phone all I could hear was the boys being chaotic while they were laughing at whatever it was they were laughing at I started to get bored of scrolling through my phone and was getting annoyed at my boyfriend for inviting me over just to be busy with his friends After sitting on his bed for a while an idea popped into my head. I quickly but quietly got up from Larry’s bed and slowly walked towards the side of his desk, careful not to be seen in his camera. Larry looked up towards me, but before he could question what I was doing I quickly put my finger up towards my mouth indicating him to be quiet about my presence. He said nothing as he was confused on what I was doing, after a couple seconds I got down on my knees and went underneath his desk pushing his chair back slightly to give myself room. “Wait,” struggling to keep a cool face, “That doesn't sound right.” Plucking the strings and making ear aching whines, causing Larry to burst out laughing, “I thought you knew how to play?” Falling back on his bed from the fit, you on the other hand buried your face in your hands.

“Shut up!” close to snorting, “I’m a bit rusty, ok?” holding your stomachs to calm down. You had to put your guitar down for a small break and cracked your knuckles while Larry picked his back up. He fixed his position to place the guitar on his lap.

He began to lightly strum, chords singing in the quiet house. It was nice to be the only ones there, everyone else had gone out to do their own things. And it'll still be awhile before they come back so there's plenty of time to properly play and actually hear it. Plus, it's been forever since you two hung out without anyone else.

The two of you have been softly talking throughout the songs that have been half played. Sometimes even letting the acoustic scratches answer, no matter what it was, something always filled the silence.

From the hums of Larry when he's figuring out a tune, or your finger taps against the wood looking for a beat, nothing would interrupt the other. In your own little separate spaces but harmoniously together.
