Amazing how far photographic tools have come - nevertheless, this is so much more beautiful than the slab design of a phone camera.

oh !! im super sorry, i forgot to specify what camera species ! /gen
the ones i had in mind when asking wereeee ,, large format cameras !
— ☕️🪶anon
like this? admittedly i know less about these than smaller digital cameras, but i can tell you what i do know!
large format cameras are unspecialized omnivores. they'll eat pretty much whatever is available, be it leaves, shrubs, carrion, small rodents, insects, small objects, or garbage. these are very reclusive objects! we aren't fully sure of what their overall population is due to this - it's possible they're endangered. large cameras like these are slow moving and are mostly sedentary, preferring to only move when necessary for hunting, foraging or avoiding predators. the process that allows them to flash is a result of complex chemical reactions within a specialized organ inside their body. they flash their light to stun predators, buying time to escape to safety, or sometimes to stun smaller prey animals or objects, allowing them to more easily catch and kill their dinner. large format cameras have a rather slow metabolism as well and don't need to eat as much as most objects of a similar size.
they have a very good memory like all camera objects. they're not fully domesticated, so special care must be taken when handling them as to not hurt or startle them. from what i know, object hobbyists have a soft spot for these and catalog sightings in the wild. it's considered trendy by some to own camera objects of any type, but like all object fads, owning a species of object solely to be hip is inhumane and unethical. don't do that.

Instax Wide on Tachihara at Night
I recently rebuilt my Instax Wide back for my 4×5 Tachihara camera. The new back is properly fabricated using a new 3D printer, resulting in a much better user experience. I will write about it another time. Since the new back is such a breeze to use, I have been very motivated to use it on my Tachihara. I especially like the idea of long-exposure images at night. Today, I went to an overhead…

NEW CREATURE!!
A 5x7 Seneca Competitor View, 1920-24 based on the nickel-plated fittings and front shift movement. It’ll be a lot of work getting it back into proper shape, but once it it’s there I hope to keep it working for a long time.
