Her True Love (Lanfear x fem!reader)

A/N: HELLO! This was a quick, self-gratifying piece I wrote in like a few hours bc I was inspired by that scene where she's covered in blood... y'know the one after Moiraine's stabbed her.

Warnings: attempted assault, lanfear being covered in blood, slight m0mmy k!nk, a LOT of nicknames (as i said... self-gratifying), a lot of blood mentioned, please let me know if i've missed anything!! <3

A/A/N: fr though, lanfear is so mommy to me i can't cope

You’d been trusted with looking after the Inn many times before. You knew this was just Lanfear’s cover to get close to the Dragon Reborn, Rand, but you still wanted to take care of it. After all, it was still important to Lanfear. It sometimes seemed to you that she cared about everything else more than she cared about you. You understood why, you knew Rand was important, and that getting him to trust Lanfear was the key to everything working, but you couldn’t deny it still hurt. 

As you got lost even further in your thoughts, you were oblivious to the young man staring at you from one of the tables at the Inn. It was a big night of celebration within Cairhein, the start of The Great Hunt. Where young men and women search for the coveted Horn of Valere, which you knew was fake, but you played along. You began collecting empty cups from empty tables when the young man who’d been watching you made himself known. 

“What’s a beautiful young lady like you doing working alone on a night like this?” He spoke loudly, his speech slurred slightly but he smiled at you brightly nonetheless.

“I’m capable of looking after myself, thank you. And I offered to work, so I can only blame myself.” You laughed, taking the empty cups to the bar, feeling him follow close behind you. You were quick to move behind the bar, thankful the large bar top was able to block him from getting too close, but he still tried. He leaned over the bar, his hand drunkenly reaching for you before you backed away slowly. 

“You’re so incredibly pretty, far too pretty to be doing menial bar work.” He commented, making you feel more uncomfortable. 

“Thanks but I’m not interested,” You turned him down politely. His face changed, dropping his smile for a more serious expression. 

“Oh, c’mon. Not even a little bit? I don’t think I believe you.” He smirked at you, his eyebrow raising questioningly. 

“I’m sorry, man. I’m sure you’re a nice guy but I’m not interested.” You were beginning to get nervous, his smirk dropping slowly. 

“But you think I’m nice. How does that mean you’re not interested?” He asked, head cocking to the side slightly. 

“I-I- Please, I’m not interested. Even if I were, I’m not available. I’m sor-” You were cut off by him grabbing your hair and pulling you forward, his grip harsh. You felt something cold against your neck, he pressed it tighter against your neck, feeling a sharp edge cut into your skin. 

“Do I look like I care?” He asked, before moving the cold, sharp item away from your throat and slamming your head down against the bar. You groaned loudly, feeling everything around you spin violently as your head pounded. 

“Wh-wh-why?” You asked, feeling him press you against the bar, realising he’d climbed over the bar and was now on the same side as you. He pinned you between him and the bar, your back bent awkwardly over it as his hand gripped at your hair again, the knife held back against your throat. You whimpered slightly when it began cutting into your neck once more. 

“I never cared what you thought, nor what you wanted.” The hand gripping your hair let go, moving to lift your skirts up as you tried to push him away. The knife slipped from your throat, nicking your skin before he plunged it into your shoulder, making you scream in agony. His hand released the blade, leaving it buried in your shoulder as that hand helped lift your skirts.

“No, no, please!” You begged, trying to push him off of you once more without jostling the knife.

“A sweet, tender girl like you should never have been left alone.”

You thought about Lanfear, thinking about how she would feel if she knew you couldn’t fight back, that you couldn’t protect yourself against one man. You knew she was so much more powerful, braver, more courageous than you would ever be. You feared her rejection, feared losing her and her love, her care and affection as his hands gripped your body, leaving harsh marks wherever he wanted. 

“Please, don’t do this. You don’t have to do this.” You begged once more, before the soft, lilting voice of your lover reached your ears.

“I wouldn’t do that, if I were you.” He backed away from you, letting your skirts fall back into place, although dishevelled. 

“You see, that sweet, tender girl you decided to take advantage of, she’s my sweet girl.” Lanfear moved behind the bar, approaching you with love and sorrow in her face and eyes as she helped you, removing the blade from your shoulder before guiding you to stand up gently. He attempted to run while Lanfear was distracted but she froze him on the spot, not allowing him to escape his fate.

“My darling, take yourself to my room, okay? I’ll be there soon, I promise, my baby.” She kissed your forehead lovingly before gently pushing you towards the stairs to her room. You walked up them slowly, feeling her kind eyes watching you to make sure you were safe and sound in her room. You entered her room, feeling comforted by the mere presence of her within the room. The warm blue coat she wore on a regular basis hung on the back of the door, it smelled so like her you couldn’t stop yourself from putting it on. The material was soft and warm, her scent filled your nostrils, making you sigh in relief as your eyes filled with tears. You took a seat on her bed and cried, sobs wracking your entire body as your body and mind reeled with the realisation of what almost happened. He’d almost assaulted you, had Lanfear not stepped in, had she not arrived back in time, you might’ve been killed, or severely injured. As you sat and sobbed, beginning to overthink everything, the door opened and interrupted your thoughts. A bloodsoaked Lanfear walked in, approaching you immediately. 

“I’m here, my sweet girl. I’m right here, baby.” Her voice soothed you as she crouched down in front of you. Before she could stop you or clean herself up, you’d launched yourself at her, wrapping your arms around her bloodsoaked frame and nuzzling your head against her neck. 

“You’re safe with me, princess. I’m sorry he even thought about hurting you, let alone threatening you. I shouldn’t have left you here alone, I won’t leave you here alone ever again.” Her lips pressed numerous kisses against your temple, her hands gently channelling to heal your wounds as they held you close to her. You held each other for a long while, before Lanfear attempted to pull away, making you whimper and hold her tighter.

“My darling girl, am I okay to clean myself up? I doubt you’re enjoying hugging me like this.” Her voice was sweet, trying to coax you to let go but you just held her even tighter. You shook your head, refusing to let go. Lanfear tried to come up with an alternative option, since she knew you were highly unlikely to let go of her anytime soon. One of her hands stroked your back gently, pulling away from you slowly.

“How about we take a nice hot bath together? Does that sound good, baby girl? We can spend the rest of the day cuddling, just you and I.” Her lips left a gentle kiss on your cheek, leaving more bloody kisses against your face. 

“What about Rand? Wh-What about the-the Dragon? You-you and him… You need to help him more than you need to help me. I-I understand, it’s-” Lanfear cut you off with a gentle kiss to your lips. 

“Don’t you dare say that it’s okay, baby. You’re the one I want, the one I care about. Rand can look after himself for a bit, I need to look after my baby, my sweet girl. Because I love you, and only you.” She kissed you once more, making your eyes water out of happiness. 

“Y-you love me?” you mumbled, worried that you’d dreamt her saying those three words.

“I do, my love. I love you to the moon and back,” her lips kissed your nose tenderly.

“I love you too, Lanny, so so much,” You kissed her jaw, feeling her groan disapprovingly at the nickname. 

“You know how much I despise that nickname, my love,” You smiled at Lanfear sheepishly, giving her soft puppy eyes before she jokingly rolled her eyes, “but when you use it, it’s… tolerable, I guess.” You smiled before quickly pecking her lips.

“I love you more than I can possibly say, my pretty girl.” Lanfear kissed your forehead before picking you up, making you squeal gently as she carried you to her bathroom, using her power to fill the tub up with hot water quickly. 

Lanfear’s hands undressed you carefully, taking her time as she removed each layer of clothing and leaving gentle kisses against each spot of bare skin as she did so. She praised you softly each step of the way, (“you’re doing so well, my darling.”, “easy, my pretty one.”, “just one more bit then we’ll get you in the tub, my princess.”) before she eased you into the tub, her hands reluctant to let go once your tired frame settled into the water. She leaned against the tub and watched you relax as you tiredly moved, smiling lovingly at Lanfear. Lanfear reached over to kiss your lips gently, her hand coming up to cup your cheek as she deepened it. You pulled away, smiling at her confused expression.

“Cuddles?” You asked softly, watching her nod and stand, stripping her clothes off slowly, making sure you enjoyed each moment, which you confirmed as you smiled and blushed. Once she was naked, she climbed into the gap behind you, wrapping her arms around your front to pull you back against her. You adjusted yourself so your head rested against her chest, leaving soft kisses against her pale skin. Her gentle fingers held you close, soothing your bruised skin with her power until the bruises disappeared. 

“How are you feeling, my darling?” Her lips moved gently where they rested against your forehead.

“I feel better, I still feel tired and a little on edge. I have you here now, so I don’t have to be afraid.” Her heartbeat echoed in your ears, helping you settle against her chest. 

“I’m staying right here with you, baby, I won’t leave your side again.” One of her hands stroked your hip comfortingly, much like she did in bed as she knew it helped you settle down and fall asleep.

“Lanny?” Your voice quivered slightly, scared to admit what you had on your mind.

“Yes, my love?” She watched you with so much love in her eyes, noticing your sheepish smile and gentle blush spreading across your cheeks.

“When you walked into the room… covered in-in blood… I found it really hot.” Lanfear’s eyes widened slightly before softening, her smile widening as she kissed you. 

“Oh, baby. There’s nothing wrong with that, in fact… I may have the perfect place to take you one day, but this will do, for now.” Her nose brushed yours before she captured your lips once more. Lanfear’s hand moved from your hip to your stomach, gently tracing shapes across your skin with her fingers before dipping down lower. You whined softly, her fingers deftly reaching the tender spots. 

“Is that what my princess wants?” Her voice was kind, instead of her usual condescending tone when she knew what you wanted. You nodded, prompting her to tut softly.

“Use your words, princess. Is this what you want?” Her voice moved to a more serious tone, making sure this was what you wanted.

“Yes, please. Mommy please,” You begged, voice soft yet desperate. You needed her to make all thoughts of his existence disappear with her skillful fingers and soft, tender touches.

“Anything for you, my princess. Anything for you,”

A/N: Written for the following request: hi! do you take requests for lanfear? if yes can you please write about lanfear and her forsaken girlfriend who are deeply in love but moghedien tortures forsaken girlfriend for information about lanfear but she doesn't give up and later lanfear finds her all bruised and beaten, and kinda saves and heals her? thank you!

“You will tell me…” The roughness of Moghedien’s insistent voice hasn’t lessened but you laugh at her openly. Torture hurts, it will always hurt, but you are stronger than she can ever know. Pain rockets through you, dragging a scream from you even as you remind yourself again that Lanfear loves you, the love you share is strong enough she will find you, she will help you. She just has to get here. “Tell me… Tell me her secrets.” “Never.” You spit the word. “Never.” Bruises start to form, blood racing under tearing skin, another scream breaks free and you spit blood at Moghedien, weaponizing your wounds. She may be the Spider but you have been Deathless, The Maiden Of Shadows, Forsaken by all. Moghedien moves closer and you strike, biting down hard on the fingers she seeks to push into your mouth, tearing skin and muscle as she pulls free, spitting her own body parts back at her, noting the shudder as she turns to stalk away. Your eyes close and you pray Lanfear will hurry. Lanfear finds you on the edge of blackout, soft fingers push hair from your eyes before she kisses you, letting her healing trail over and through you until you heal, breathing easier. “Liandrin… she will….” “She won’t find her.” A promise, a smile. “Our Darkling is safe, but are you?” “I am now you are here.” You whisper the words, letting your lips meet Lanfear’s. Love, your love and hers, is healing, more than you had ever known before. “I love you….” Lanfear’s words are soft, almost whispered. “I love you too, Night child.” You speak just as softly, your touch soft against her cheek. “Now, come… we had better escape the little bitch’s web.”

WoT 3x01-3x03

Spoilers below through 3x03 of the Wheel of Time series! Book spoilers through... Winter's Heart. Let's say Winter's Heart.

I'm going to rewatch the episodes this weekend and post about them individually this weekend, so these are just more my off-the-cuff responses to the first three episodes. Short and fast, with more to come either tomorrow or this weekend.

I also might not be remembering what happened in which episode. I'll have it clear after my rewatch!

3x01

Still loved this episode on a rewatch. Someone mentioned that Lanfear cut her hair short IRL too and I clocked that this time. But it's especially creepy when she's with Rand in TAR because it really makes her hair look so much like Egwene's.

The interaction between Siuan & Moiraine was so good and I loved their yearning towards each other. Excellent yearning.

Okay, went into this episode already knowing that Avilayne would hook up at the end, so I can put my thoughts about that into more context.

Overall, after rewatching, my feeling is that I feel like this happening so quickly is more about meta reasons than 'flowing naturally from the show' reasons (Elayne's "Finally" especially feels like it's more directed at book fans who have been longing for canon Avilayne for years than it is about the situation she's actually in for the show, since we've never seen Elayne & Aviendha interact before this episode) but I can understand that, given the state of television production, and since they were initially only renewed for 3 seasons at the outset -- Rafe wanting to get the Avilayne portion of the polycule set up makes a lot of sense. I understand but... I miss their canon dynamic and how it felt like that would lead naturally into a slowburn romance.

So, will a part of me still be a little sad that we don't get the slowburn Avilayne of my dreams? Probably. Because hooking up first changes the vibe, even if we end up getting some or even most of their book scenes in the future. So. That's kinda where my feelings are. I understand why people are so happy to get it canonized right away but I'm sad that the version of the ship getting together that I personally would have enjoyed most isn't going to happen.

I will have to pin my slowburn hopes on the Avirand and/or Randlayne subpairings of the polycule instead!

Because, once again, I was struck by how pitch-perfect both the Randlayne and Avirand interactions were in this episode.

3x02

Morgase is ruthless! The episode did a great job setting up the royal family and the heavy expectations. We see Elayne struggle with them and then declare her own path. Really looking forward to digging into all that when I rewatch.

They swerved me hard in this episode, held back on Mat's duel with the princes until the next episode!

I really liked Mat's interactions with Siuan and Min.

Elayne got rushed through the Arches without us getting to see it but that's true in the books too and we got a very good look into her interactions with her family, so I'm okay with the trade.

And we saw how incredibly shiver-worthy good Rahvin is at Compulsion. Holy shit. And there's no male channelers around, so no one to spot his weaves! The way everyone just remembered him and how beloved he was and how natural his dynamics with everyone felt!

We got a Semirhage namedrop in the Forsaken meeting, so that means Demandred has been cut. And it looks like Rahvin has set himself up as the center of three different alliances -- this one with Lanfear & Sammael, his meetings with Graendal & Semirhage, and he's also the only one aware that Moghedien was watching.

The pacing of the show is faster in some plotlines than I was expecting and slower in others. It always surprises me!

3x03

The show swerved me again on Mat! So we got a viewing about him going into the doorway and getting hanged but he did NOT go into the doorway in Tar Valon! It was foreshadowing!

I like how they're riding this interesting line with Min (Min is so much more interesting in the show than I ever found her in the books). And it is fascinating how Min and Mat talked around Rand in their conversations and did not bring him up. Sometimes an absence is louder than a presence.

The fight with Galad and Gawyn was good - haha, I'm sad that Elayne didn't see it, but it was an important moment for Mat & Nynaeve's friendship, so I get it.

Overall, really loving everyone's development. My thoughts are really hard to contain to the individual episodes right now, so I'm looking forward to watching them one at a time and setting out my thoughts properly.

Rand's stuff with Lanfear I am finding more interesting than his scenes with Egwene, but I know a lot of that is just that I am, unfortunately, constantly just having that feeling of "oh wow, they're still together, wow" about Randgwene, and a lot of that does come from my book knowledge, I know. That's really a place where I'm interested to see what non-book readers feel about their scenes, because it is very hard to disentangle my book knowledge.

Interesting to me that Lanfear & Rand are currently meeting in Cairhien (in TAR), given what we saw in the trailer with them in the Two Rivers. And she's, once again, so much better at making a pitch than she was in the books. Because this is the offer than she makes in the books to Rand -- that together, along with the most powerful sa'angreal in the world, they can defeat the Dark One.

I'm not sure how much time passed between eps 1 & 2. Not sure they gave us a direct time, just that it was enough that the hall was somewhat repaired, though there was still some damage that Elaida noticed.

Elaida was great! I loved her interactions with everyone that we saw her with. Looking forward to digging into that more when it isn't 4am and I am not exhausted, lol.

Faile's introduction was good. I can see why she disarmed Perrin. Oh! The moment when the Two Rivers people refuse Perrin's offer to turn himself in to the Whitecloaks! Very good!

I love Bain & Chiad flirting with Loial.

Alanna and Maksim made my heart hurt. Alanna's talk with Perrin was very good. I do... the fact that Alanna is managing to keep herself relatively level now does make me feel like it's even more likely that Maksim is going to die, to send her off that balance and push her into the actions that she takes in the books.

There's so much to think about and I am very tired, lol.

We saw Liandrin in Tanchico a lot sooner than I expected and we moved pretty quick on the reveal that they're looking for a male a'dam.

I feel like I'm forgetting so many things.

Well, I will sleep and see what I remember in the morning!

I had a chance to listen to the soundtrack before the episodes dropped (they let me start listening at 11pm my time!). I only had a chance to listen to them through once before it was time for the show, so no in-depth thoughts.

On first listen, Rand's theme is my favorite of the new songs. <3 <3 Looking forward to reading the translation of the Old Tongue. I think I picked out "saidin" at few times. Elaida's was my second favorite, though "Bring the Dawn" was pretty gorgeous too.

And "The Hills of Tanchico" is the one with Ceara singing! She sounds nice! I wonder how much of this we'll get to hear in the show. <3

I am not the music expert (looks at @markantonys) but I am pretty interested at poking at the lyrics when I have a chance and analysing them!

Haven’t been on Tumblr at all for a while cuz life and university have been awful but I just watched the first episode of WOT s3 and I have never been so back!

Love to see everyone looking so beautiful and very excited to see where the season goes. Please may the women continue to be lovely and capable (and evil, in the case of my beloved wife Lanfear) and may the boys continue to suffer for my entertainment.

light, where to begin, a disjointed ramble of things I observed:

RAND exploding the shit out of the Seanchan including Turak; nice way around his general lack of swordtraining which I’m sure will be remedied

The interplay between Rand (and Lews Therin before him), Lanfear, Ishamael - they were besties in the Age of Legends, lmao!

I had expected the intro to be a high society polyam party they were attending, not the Sealing of Ishamael, 🤭

The Warder bond was beautiful, flowing, intimate, just what I imagined when reading these books some 25 years ago

I knew Moiraine was gonna say Lan was her better!

Nice to see the S1 intro sequence with the gorgeously woven Aes Sedai tapestry

I was a bit sad Nynaeve didn’t heal Elayne OR Rand but she DID swear to make Seta’s mother curse the first kiss her father ever gave her and THAT was cool

Elayne being the one to heal Rand’s wound was an interesting choice, and you can tell he was dazzled by her!

Egwene, collaring Renna and choking her to death, being stronger than Renna, being able to withstand the pain of that because that’s exactly what Renna taught her

Egwene later, with that amazing shield against Ishamael to protect her friends!

Lanfear pushing Lan and Moiraine out of the ocean Waygate was very unexpected but totally within Lanfear’s lane, just to keep Moiraine away from Rand

Lanfear working to sell the Seals to Bayle Domon, which was so lmao also, and it really enhanced her utter shock when she entered the room later with the Seals all broken.

She is perfectly creepy, perfect in every way. I can’t wait to see her tear shit up, or to see how she will be used in S3 and beyond

Never expected her to cage Lanfear in her webs, either, dang. Lillen Moiral wasn’t near so strong as Mierin. But we know some things are just Talents, and Moghedien is better in Tel’aran’rhiod than Lanfear

Did you notice Rand’s wound swirling with evil bits throughout the healed part? Really cool effect if you catch it

Aviendha, Bain, and Chiad showing they can fight just as well in close quarters in a city as in the Three-Fold Land; and then later acknowledging Rand as Car’a’carn

Though I’d hoped we’d get some good old He Who Comes With The Dawn in here too

Moiraine’s outstanding torpedo weaves that fucked up the Seanchan boats! And she understands the stakes - if the Dragon is gentled, or harmed, or captured, everyone’s life is in danger and that includes her and Lan

Did it look like Suroth got blown up too? Does that mean she’s dead? I guess we’ll see who gathers in the scattered remnants of the Hailene!

I figured Min’s vision of Mat “killing” Rand would be something like this, an accident, not an intentional thing

AL’LAN MANDRAGORAN, the Uncrowned King, Sworn to the Flame, bonded again, fighting as he was meant to, just slicing through armies, snatching arrows out of the air and stabbing people with them, chef’s kiss

I wonder if Nynaeve’s “failures” and inability to channel at these vital moments will give her the drive to break her block

Ishamael’s channeling at the end was really impressive, a testament to how much more he knows than Rand

I hope that’s not the last we see of Fares Fares, he was remarkable as Ishamael and a truly enjoyable villain

And since they didn’t have the Dragon banner of Lews Therin Telamon found with the Horn like in the books, Moiraine saw to it that he was heralded with literal fire

This I can imagine many people seeing from far away, and of course rumor travels further

The Falmen sure seem to appreciate it and of course the Seanchan are gone for now

Lanfear asking the LIGHT to protect Rand at the end is something interesting and NOT LOST ON ME

I REALLY ENJOYED IT and am looking forward to a full rewatch of S1 and S2!

My Mom Reacts To: wheel of time season 2 episodes 1-4 (season 1)

episode 1

"if i had to carry water all that way for a bath, i'd get a smaller bathtub" you know what? that is a very fair point. just get a smaller tub, moiraine!

mom, #1 Lan Stan: so, he doesn't have any powers, right? except cunning and strength and loyalty of course me: of course

mom: so liandrin wants nynaeve to become red because she........doesn't want her to have a warder? me doing a great aes sedai truth-telling: nynaeve is really powerful so liandrin wants to recruit her for her own team

my dad predicted moiraine was scamming bayle domon and loved it when it was revealed that she was. as always, not too much commentary from him because he remains silent and seems to not be paying attention for most of the time, only to randomly come out with a completely correct prediction or read on a scene.

"i don't think it's true that neat and tidy things can't be worthwhile 🙄" clearly my mom subscribes more to the Egwene School Of Thought than to the Alanna School Of Thought

lan to moiraine after she is Mean to him: make dinner yourself mom: GOOD FOR YOU

when lan brings her the plate later and puts it on top of the maps: "what if he gets greasy food all over her maps?"

"ugh i hate dark scenes where i can't see anything" [scary fade appears] "okay maybe it's good that i can't see"

episode 2

my mom got all confused about rand's dream of him killing his friends and wondered at first if it was real, please pray for her when tel'aran'rhiod is introduced later

"HE'S BALD??????" all of us when we first saw s2 rand's new look djkfgjh

"they must like him here if he gets free food" my boy, beloved wherever he goes :')

she wasn't particularly fond of mat last season, but he's gotten quite a few laughs so far this season! (notably the moment when we ALL fell in love with New Mat, when he was miming liandrin locking the door)

she gave an annoyed TUH! at elayne dissing egwene's room, but didn't comment further, possibly because i'd just told her 20 seconds earlier that elayne was my favorite character and she didn't want to offend me jdkfgh

she was like "wait, is she blue or green???" during a scene where alanna was wearing a slightly-darker-than-normal green outfit, so i think it was definitely a good call by the show to dress aes sedai in their ajah colors always. hard to keep track otherwise!

after moiraine had her hand on her knife when verin revealed she knew about the dragon: "what was she gonna do?? just stab her right in front of all the others??? that's ridiculous!" djkfjg points were made! poor moiraine just kinda panicked and lost all her braincells for a moment there.

my mom was a randgwene shipper last season so i thought she was gonna be pissed about rand hooking up with a strange new woman whilst egwene mourns his death, but she has not said a single word about that situation yet! i did once catch her reading lanfear's wiki article which she'd gotten onto after reading lan's because "i just want to know what happens to him and i'm not going to read all those books" so maybe she retained some info from lanfear's article that made her suspect something fishy with selene?

she recognized min from s1 right away and hastened to add her to her handwritten character list, when other characters needed a couple scenes to get that honor, and i remember she laughed a lot at min's lines last season and she did again today. guys, if my mom becomes a min stan, i may never recover lmao (i'm mostly kidding, show!min has done nothing wrong and is cool. MOSTLY kidding.)

re: the list, i told her she wasn't allowed to google and print out a list of characters because she would see spoilers, only to accidentally spoil her myself last season by instinctively writing liandrin's name down in the "bad guys" column and making her ask "wait, so she's ACTUALLY a villain, not just mean??", rip (but i played it off as "oh she's just unfriendly to moiraine so that's why i put her there" so we shall see whether or not she ends up being surprised by the black ajah reveal)

when min was saying how she sees glimpses of the pattern, my mom made a connection to perrin seeing the past earlier, which i thought was very interesting! (since we hadn't yet learned that what he saw was actually a sending from the wolves.) min's viewings and wolfbrothers are the two major magical powers that have nothing to do with the one power, and it always minorly bugged me that they don't Fit In to the rest of the magic system (despite my apparently-hypocritical mocking of people who get hung up on lore rules etc haha), so i just thought it was neat to think of them in conjunction with each other.

mom, shocked and dismayed: MAT'S GOING TO KILL RAND???????? me: [vibrating with glee over The Great Cauthor Stabbening]

when nynaeve is taken to the arches: "so is she getting a promotion?"

there was some line during the moiraine-lan divorce that got a big offended gasp from our #1 Lan Stan, but i forget which one it was (it wasn't "we were never equals" it was an earlier one)

my dad just laughed when they first showed suroth and her redonkulus getup jkjfg the correct reaction to the pomp and ceremony of seanchan high blood

episode 3

when the aes sedai were saying nynaeve was ready to take the test my mom was like "NO SHE ISN'T!!!!" and was pressed about them rushing her into it

during the bandit attack in the test: "boy, i wouldn't want to live in this world!"

when nynaeve left the tower my mom was like "is this what happens in the books?!" and i couldn't reveal yet that it was still part of the test so i just instinctively said "you'll see" which is my response to everything, and she was like "no i won't, i'm not reading all these books" lmao

my dad during the version of mashiara playing during the lanaeve reunion: why is "somewhere over the rainbow" playing

sheriam: she wasn't ready mom: THAT'S WHAT I SAID!!!!!!!!!!!

she was genuinely very upset for a moment because she thought nynaeve was dead, but i think she then guessed pretty quickly that It Ain't Over Yet

scene transition from nynaeve being left in the arches over to the seanchan: "we're going from bad to worse!"

i was dithering over uno's impending death because i didn't want to spoil them but i thought my mom might want a trigger warning, and thankfully my dad went "that horn looks like it's in a dangerous spot" when they first made uno kneel, so i was all clear to say "yeah this is about to get gory" lmao

my dad wondered if suroth was the dark one which fascinated me! i think everyday negroes had the same thought, iirc. i guess it IS the logical conclusion when you know that ishy is the dark one's right-hand man and in this scene we see him being suroth's right-hand man!

my mom thought elayne might be evil or a spy! how could she! i guess she isn't accustomed to wheel of time strangers just being friendly without an ulterior motive djkfg i didn't outright say her theory was wrong because i'm not about to be a booksplainer, but i'm sure i was so visibly baffled at the idea of elayne being evil that i shot down the theory nonetheless haha

when liandrin goes to visit mat again: "how does she have time for all this? she has her sick son, she has mat, and she has whatever else she does at the tower"

when liandrin blames mat for nynaeve's death: "this lady is CRAZY!!"

mat's "is that an 'i'm here to murder you' stare or a 'light i never realized how handsome you are' stare" line was a big hit! love to see my boy getting some appreciation in this house

...............which he promptly squandered when he a) initially left his cell without freeing min too, and b) did not go comfort egwene. but i pointed out that liandrin's been psychologically tormenting him for months into thinking his friends are better off without him, because i couldn't bear to see them judge my boy!

"it's like we're in 18th century france!" was the first thing out of my mom's mouth when they went to the cairhienin party, i'm sure the costume designers would be thrilled!

mom: how did this lady from the poor district get them into a fancy party? and how could she afford these clothes? 🤨 me: 🤷👀

when logain pours out the wine: "AFTER ALL RAND'S HARD WORK TO GET IT!!"

why did my dad laugh when the inn was on fire jdkfg maybe he just likes to see rand have a bad time

mom: jeez, maybe rand shouldn't stay in other people's houses anymore me: i'm sure rand's thinking the same thing

mom at the end of the test: it's so sad that they keep getting glimpses of the nice lives they could've had 😔

episode 4

mom 2 seconds before the camera reveals who the visitor is: is her little sister moiraine? [camera shows moiraine] mom: I GUESSED SOMETHING FOR ONCE

"it's pretty rude to show up to someone's house and then say 'i don't have time to hang out with you'!"

selene: the fire wasn't your fault rand mom: well it kinda was actually

there was some moment where my dad referred to "sneezing and burning down an inn, or whatever he did" and it killed me, i wish i could remember the context bc it was even funnier in context

"i speak with the amyrlin every time i open my mouth" was also a hit! as was perrin asking if he would turn into a wolf and elyas saying "don't be stupid"

mom when moiraine waltzes into the foregate dressed to the nines: i thought she wanted to keep a low profile

just earlier that day we'd been bemoaning the lack of pockets in women's clothing, as one does, so my mom was like "[delighted] now THAT'S a pocket!" when moiraine fit a whole-ass knife into the pocket of her fancy dress. WOT costumers understand the importance of giving girls pockets! lanfear's outfits have a lot too

my dad said "she seems like a bad guy" about selene during the mountaintop scene, he been knew! but he ended up falling asleep and missing the reveal that he was right

meanwhile, mom: "i'm just waiting for a monster to crawl up that cliff and get them"

when alanna & co go through lan's bags to get the poem: "aww, i thought they were his friends! 😔"

mom: too bad moiraine won't just ask her sister about rand, she talked to him at the party! anvaere: so if you want to know where that redheaded boy is, you'll have to ask me very nicely over tea mom: [just as smug as anvaere]

when ishy shows up at min's room: "how is he EVERYWHERE????"

she didn't seem TOO surprised when liandrin attacked the girls, and she clocked that liandrin was working for ishy after this scene with min (or rather, she asked me if that was the case and i said "you'll see")

she let out the fondest chuckle when rand was like "[choking back tears] i'm going to leave now, thank you" he is BABY YOUR HONOR!!!

as the Lanfear Reveal started my mom said "i just knew she was evil" so that must be why she was so silent on the relationship and so un-judgmental of rand, she must've clocked selene's Bad Vibes from the start! or else she retained something from reading lanfear's wiki article a while back lmao

even so, she went "OH MY GOSH!!!!" and clapped her hands over her mouth in shock when moiraine slit lanfear's throat, which i think is one of her biggest reactions to anything in either season so far! the initial stabbing, zero reaction, but the followup throat-slitting, freakout.

the "i'm a monster too" line + Undead Lanfear Moment has her CONVINCED that forsaken are some kind of creatures or zombies, i'm trying to explain they're just humans who are really powerful and evil haha

at the final shot of lanfear: "i'm going to have nightmares! i'll have to go read my murder mystery to calm down before bed." duality of woman
