O cinema, @landmarktheatres , na esquina da Pico com a Westwood Boulevard, foi o lugar que mais frequentei nos 13 anos que moro em Los Angeles. No Landmark, conheci diretores, roteiristas e atores que admiro, como Richard Linklater, Susan Sarandon, Amy Adams, Saoirse Ronan e Greta Gerwig (pra citar alguns). Assisti filmes que mudaram a minha vida e esbarrei no bar com Jamie Dornan, ele mesmo, o próprio Mr. Grey. Como diz o nome, esse marco de LA, fechou as portas no coração da cidade. Por conta dos custos vai mudar pra longe, mas minha alma cinéfila está disposta a dirigir 1 hora para prestigiar uma obra, na sala escura, com tela grande e muita inspiração. Enquanto esse cinema, que foi palco de muitos eventos na temporada de premiações, não reabre, eu deixo registrado na matéria a minha carta de amor ao local mais especial da minha vida na terra estrangeira. Landmark Theaters chain shutters two Seattle cinemas

The Landmark Theater chain has closed Seattle’s Seven Gables Theater and the Guild 45th Theaters, effective immediately.  In a Tweet, Landmark announced that the theaters would undergo renovation, with no details about timelines or even if the venerable art houses would reopen. The Tweet directed local cinephiles to the Crest Cinemas, in Shoreline.

Calls to Landmark offices in LA were referred to a NYC publicist who could provide no further details.

The Acca Temple Shrine, The Mosque, The Landmark, The Altria Theater - all chapters in this very recognizable RVA edifice. Over the years it’s seen countless crowds, hosted numerous events, showcased a huge number of productions and had careful and loving restorations.  From its rich history and active present to its sheer size and impressive architectural detail, this RVA landmark is one for keeps.
