And yes, actually:) I am currently writing one fanfic. It's called MORE THAN YOU KNOW. (...yes, it's got to do with the song's lyrics :D : "I just need to get it off my chest, yeah, more than you know, yeah, more than you know! You should know that baby you're the best, yeah, MORE THAN YOU KNOW...I saw it coming, from miles away I better speak up if I got something to say...Your good intentions are sweet and pure but they can never tame a fire like yours...Right where you wanted, down on my knees, you got me begging, pretty baby set me free...") It's a modern AU but with Daemon and Rhaenyra mostly true to GRRM's books. My Daemon's protective, adoring, caring, devoted, passionate and obsessed when it comes to Rhaenyra but cunning, smart, sarcastic, impulsive, self-seeking, and unhinged, with a Targaryen superiority complex, when it comes to everything else. My Rhaenyra's love-struck, naive, a dreamer, adoring, obsessed, a charmer and a sly fox when it comes to Daemon (at the beginning of the story), but spoiled, self-important, egocentric and a brat when it comes to everything else. They're family (second cousins once removed) but they call each other uncle/niece 'cause Daemon and Viserys practically grew up together, like brothers. (And yes, their union is legal in the U.S., I've checked, so no worries :D) In my fic the Targ family are wealthy but private people; they own a King’s Landing shipbuilding and logistics company. We follow Daemyra's story throughout years, their dynamics change as the story progresses. (Rhaenyra's basically 18 at the beginning, Daemon 30). It starts with them reuniting after 5 years apart. It's a story with detailed relationship development, with lots of texting, calling, hanging out, and lots and lots of cute, hilarious, caring, passionate, and truly deep moments between the two. Soulmatism. Fire. Targ superiority. Us against the world vibes.

Here are some pics to give you an idea of what to expect in the first few eps (and the story will be long, I'm afraid. Very long :D it already is long, and it's just the beginning. But it's all action, all about Daemyra's bond). It's set on the Olympic peninsula, Washington state, in a small seaside town Port Townsend + Marrowstone Island, Tacoma and Seattle :) It's all written in a form of entries with exact time, place and date... We see Daemyra's rship develop, change, deepen, and all that in different seasons of the year in everyday life moments:)

romance, comedy, drama / 10% drama, 90% feel-good

etc ... :)

Of course it all goes tits up when Daemon is confronted with the fact that someone he loves might actually want him

and that’s his niece

and he wants her

and oh fuck he is absolutely fucked,

hence the binge-drinking to cope

" and the decision to take a nap in throne room after being banished (again). "

And from myself (Lanaisdoe) I will just add the following:

The fact Daemon asked Viserys for her hand like about 3 times during those few minutes, the 3rd time he repeated it literally with Viserys's dagger on his neck, showing him clearly he REALLY MEANT IT

and then Daemon's resigned sigh and the disbelief/hurt on his face when Viserys said Daemon didn't want Rhaenyra but the throne... like his brother did not understand him at all and was ALWAYS inclined to assume the worst when it came to Daemon...

Anyway, Daemy was banished with the words "Go to the Vale, to your lawful wife" - and so he did. - D: "As you wish, brother..."

Granted, not quite the way Viserys had hoped for :D

We could actually say it was Viserys who unintentionally off-ed Rhea :D ...'Cause our poor clueless Viserys made the fatal mistake of making it seem to Daemon that Lady Rhea was practically the only obstacle on the way to Daemy marrying Rhaenyra. And so ofc if offing Rhea would make Rhaenyra his wife, in Daemon's mind, Rhea had to go :D

....Daemon was just making yet another step on this journey to marry Rhaenyra :D

And it was also interesting to see the realization struck Rhea. At first she was mocking him for having been disinherited, mock-asking him if he was now gonna STRIKE THE CHILD DOWN to get the throne ->

--> only to understand from his eyes instantly that he was actually gonna STRIKE HER DOWN,

--> to MARRY "the CHILD" :'D

...ah Daemon... :"D

I mean, you don't wanna stand in the way of him being with his niece :D (or their OR his niece's enemy either :"D Vaemond could speak)

cuz Daemon is a simp for Rhaenyra so ...

And finally, we got his cute little victorious smile he gives Rhaenyra as he'd made it to her wedding in time ->

and then the knowning smile he gave Viserys, :D like 'Heya, bro, I DID as you asked. Not married ANYMORE. Here to take Rhaenyra. Dunno how yet. Putting a plan together as I go. But i'm back in the game, kay' ->

And that's why we love him :D

I really do not think that as a fandom we’ve discussed the straight line from;

Daemon seeing Rhaenyra miserable because of the tour and having to find a husband -> Rhaenyra telling Daemon that she doesn’t want to marry at all and that she fears dying like her mother, something Daemon calls a ‘tragedy’ -> Daemon straight up telling Rhaenyra that once she marries, she can do what she likes with whoever -> Daemon seemingly trying to destroy any chance of Rhaenyra making a political match in the patriarchal hellscape that is Westeros by making people believe that they had sex -> Daemon offering to marry Rhaenyra himself ‘as she is’.

I am just saying that maybe one of Daemon’s insane, unhinged motives was to try and protect Rhaenyra and give her an out from the situation she was in - if she was married to him, she would be safe (because Daemon, who is always watching from the shadows and trying to protect his family, would keep her safe) and free to do as she wanted.
