Must-Have Flooring Accessories: From Underlays to Trims and Beyond
Flooring accessories are crucial for enhancing the longevity and appearance of your floors. While flooring materials like wood, vinyl, or tile are the main elements, flooring accessories play a vital role in creating a polished and functional finish. This guide walks you through the must-have flooring accessories that will elevate your flooring and help you achieve a flawless look in your space.
Underlayments: Setting the Foundation for Comfort and Stability
Underlayments are materials installed beneath the primary flooring to provide additional cushioning, stability, and sound absorption. Available in foam, rubber, cork, and felt, underlays are chosen based on the type of flooring and desired features. For instance, foam underlay is ideal for laminate floors, adding softness and reducing noise, while cork underlay offers natural insulation and anti-microbial benefits for hardwood floors. Underlays also help smooth out subfloor imperfections, leading to a more even surface. By investing in the right underlay, you can increase comfort underfoot and prolong the life of your flooring.
Floor Trims and Molding: Aesthetics and Seamless Transitions
Floor trims and molding create smooth transitions between rooms and provide a finished edge to floors. These accessories come in various styles, such as T-moldings for equal-level transitions, reducers for uneven levels, and end caps for meeting doorways. Not only do they improve aesthetics by hiding gaps, but they also protect edges from damage. Choosing a trim color and finish that complements your flooring can tie a room together beautifully, adding a professional look to any flooring installation.
Baseboards and Skirting Boards: Framing the Floor
Baseboards, or skirting boards, are installed along the wall at floor level to cover gaps between the wall and flooring and protect the wall from scuffs. Typically made from wood, MDF, or PVC, they come in a range of designs to match various interior styles. Whether you prefer a minimalist or ornate look, baseboards add structure and sophistication. Regular maintenance, like cleaning and touch-up painting, can keep baseboards looking fresh and contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal of your flooring setup.
Floor Adhesives: Ensuring Secure Installation
Floor adhesives are crucial for securing tiles, vinyl planks, or other flooring types that need bonding to the subfloor. There are different types of adhesives designed for various flooring materials, each offering specific benefits in terms of moisture resistance, flexibility, and strength. Using the right adhesive is essential to avoid shifting, warping, or loosening over time. For DIY enthusiasts, choosing high-quality, easy-to-apply adhesives ensures a more durable and stable installation, preventing potential flooring issues down the line.
Grout and Caulk: Filling Gaps for Strength and Style
Grout and caulk fill the spaces between tiles, providing structural stability and a finished look. Grout is generally used for larger gaps, while caulk is better suited for narrow spaces. These materials come in various colors to match or contrast with the flooring, allowing you to personalize your floor’s appearance. In addition to aesthetics, grout and caulk prevent moisture from seeping under tiles, reducing the risk of damage. Properly sealing and maintaining grout can keep floors looking clean and polished for years.
Floor Protection Pads: Preventing Scratches and Wear
Floor protection pads are small but mighty accessories that shield floors from scratches and scuffs caused by furniture movement. These pads, usually made from felt or rubber, attach to the bottoms of furniture legs, offering a barrier between furniture and flooring. They’re particularly essential for hardwood, laminate, and tile floors prone to scratches. Installing floor protection pads can reduce noise from furniture movement, prolong the life of your floors, and reduce the need for frequent refinishing or repairs.
Door Bars: Smooth and Stylish Floor Transitions
Door bars are metallic or wooden strips placed in doorways where two different flooring types meet. Available in various finishes like brass, chrome, and wood, door bars provide a polished look while protecting the edges of flooring. Door bars can also accommodate slight height differences between two floors, preventing tripping hazards and ensuring a seamless flow between rooms. Installing door bars is a small investment that can make a significant difference in the overall look and safety of your home.
Stair Nosing: Safety and Style for Staircases
Stair nosing enhances the safety and durability of staircases by providing a non-slip edge and reducing wear on stair treads. Made from rubber, metal, or wood, nosing is designed to be slightly elevated from the stair surface, creating additional grip for foot traffic. Besides safety, stair nosing can also serve an aesthetic purpose by providing a cohesive look that matches your flooring style. Investing in stair nosing can prevent accidents, prolong stair life, and add a professional finish to stair installations.
Floor Sealants and Finishes: Long-Lasting Beauty and Protection
Floor sealants and finishes protect floors from moisture, scratches, and daily wear while enhancing their natural beauty. Whether you have hardwood, stone, or concrete floors, applying a high-quality sealant can preserve color and texture while adding a glossy, matte, or satin finish. Regular sealing helps prevent stains, reduces maintenance needs, and can even add resale value to your home. By choosing the right sealant for your flooring type, you can enjoy durable and beautiful floors for years.
Radiant Floor Heating Mats: Luxury and Warmth
Radiant floor heating mats add comfort and warmth to tile and stone floors, making them perfect for bathrooms, kitchens, or cold climates. These mats are installed beneath flooring and emit gentle, even heat that radiates upward. Floor heating systems are energy-efficient, reducing the need for additional heating sources. Although an investment, radiant floor heating enhances comfort and adds luxury, transforming spaces into cozy retreats during colder months.
Conclusion
Flooring accessories might seem secondary to the main materials, but they are integral to achieving a perfect finish and extending the life of your floors. From underlays and trims to stair nosing and radiant heating, each accessory enhances comfort, durability, or style in its unique way. Whether you’re installing new floors or upgrading existing ones, choosing the right flooring accessories can ensure a polished, professional look while adding value to your home. Investing in these small but impactful details can make all the difference in creating a functional and visually appealing space.

Laminate Stair Nosing: The Perfect Finishing Touch for Your Staircase
Tumblr media
When it comes to home renovation and design, staircases are often overlooked despite being an essential element that connects different levels of your house. Laminate stair nosing is a simple yet crucial component that adds both functionality and aesthetic appeal to your staircase. In this blog post, we will explore what Laminate Stair Nosing is, its benefits, and why it's the perfect finishing touch for your stairs.
What is Laminate Stair Nosing?
Laminate stair nosing, also known as stair edging or stair bullnose, is a type of trim designed specifically for staircases. It is made from a durable material that matches or complements the laminate flooring on your stairs. Laminate stair nosing typically features a rounded or beveled edge, which serves to protect the laminate flooring from wear and tear at the edges and prevents potential tripping hazards. Additionally, it enhances the overall appearance of your staircase, creating a seamless and polished look.
Benefits of Laminate Stair Nosing
Safety First
One of the primary advantages of laminate stair nosing is the enhanced safety it provides. By capping the edges of the stairs with a slip-resistant surface, it minimizes the risk of accidents, especially in busy households or commercial settings.
Protects Your Investment
Laminate flooring is a popular choice for stairs due to its durability and affordability. However, without proper protection, the edges of laminate flooring are susceptible to chipping and damage. Laminate stair nosing acts as a safeguard, extending the lifespan of your flooring and ensuring it stays in excellent condition for years to come.
Aesthetically Pleasing
Apart from its functional benefits, laminate stair nosing adds a touch of elegance to your staircase. With a range of colors and finishes available, you can choose the perfect nosing to complement your laminate flooring, creating a cohesive and stylish look throughout your home.
Easy Installation
Laminate stair nosing is designed for easy installation. It can be glued, nailed, or screwed into place, depending on the specific product and your preference. For DIY enthusiasts, this is a fantastic opportunity to elevate the appearance of their staircase without a complicated installation process.
Versatility
Laminate stair nosing is not only compatible with laminate flooring. It can also be used with other types of flooring, such as hardwood, vinyl, or tile, making it a versatile choice for various home design projects.
Choosing the Right Laminate Stair Nosing
When selecting laminate stair nosing, there are a few factors to consider:
Material: Opt for high-quality materials like aluminum or sturdy PVC, ensuring durability and resistance to wear.
Color and Finish: Select a nosing that matches or complements your laminate flooring. Popular finishes include wood tones, metallic, and various shades to suit different interior design themes.
Safety Features: Look for slip-resistant surfaces that provide an added layer of protection.
Profile: Consider the shape of the nosing's profile, whether rounded, square, or beveled, to find the best match for your staircase.
Laminate stair nosing is a small but impactful addition to your staircase that offers significant benefits. From improving safety to preserving the appearance of your laminate flooring, it is an investment that pays off in the long run. Additionally, with a range of designs and finishes available, laminate stair nosing allows you to customize your staircase to reflect your unique style. So, why settle for an incomplete staircase when you can elevate its look and functionality with the perfect finishing touch of laminate stair nosing!

Pound of Prevention (and an ounce of cure) Chapter 2
"What is the matter dear Virgil? I apologized in the car, there's no need to be stomping around now!" An exasperated warlock shouted from the bottom of the stairs, gloved hands laced in a tight ball being the only sign of nervousness.
Remus shuffled towards Janus, each of their coats bundled under their arms with an unhappy pout. Janus sighed and began hanging up the coats, still casting an eye upstairs for any movement.
"I think lil emo Anne is a teensy bit pissed at us."
"No, Remus, I don't think that's the case at all. In fact, I'd hedge my bets and say Virgil is thrilled with us."
Briefly shifting a pig nose just to snort at Janus was rather rude, but by far from the worst thing the ratty gremlin had done.
"Boo-hoo, stop moping around, Double D. We all know I'm piss poor at having anything nice to say, so you need to pull your finger out your ass before it stains your gloves, and go comfort ol' 'Wednesday Adams' up there or else I'll do it."
Janus' face wrinkled into something sour, while Remus simply winked and wandered off to do something, no doubt nefarious.
Great. This was Janus' responsibility, naturally. With a deep sigh he began walking up the stairs, mindful of the obnoxious creeks and trying to not 'sound angry' by treading too heavy on the worn wood.
Honestly the whole situation was rather ridiculous and Janus shouldn't really be apologizing anyway. The day had started normally for the trio of roommates - Remus dead asleep on the couch, buck naked with only Janus' capelet for modesty, and Janus collecting cloves and cinnamon from the various spice jars to create some Chai Masala to start the day - up until Virgil had wandered downstairs. For one, nine twenty-five in the morning was way too early for the emo to be up, especially since Janus had heard the little shit awake at past-two this morning. To add to the oddness, Virgil was fully dressed in clothes that fit and were ironed.
"Hey, Jan." Spooks said, all cheerful, even though Virgil was a tiny little ball of angst and gloom at this hour of morning.
Janus assessed his human roommate, humming slightly in confusion.
"You're up rather early, are you off to audition for a black parade and what-not?"
"What? Jan, you do know that the Black Parade isn't like. An actual event? It's metaphorical. I think." Spooks shrugged the confusion off and went back to the uncharacteristic smile. "Anyway, I'm going on a date in like, twenty minutes."
"A date?" Janus echoed in vague horror, trying to recall any mention of Virgil's apparent love interest.
Spook at least had the decency to look a little sheepish, scuffing spooks shoes (the nice pair of Vans, limited edition Tim Burton collab, that Virgil seldom wears through fear of ruining - oh heaven's, it must be a date) across the laminate flooring.
"I, uh, met him online? And he's really nice, and sweet, started talking the other day and he lives like, five states away but he drove all the way here just to see me so I think it could possibly go really well! It's at the cafe near the train station then we're going to the comic book-"
"No, Virgil. You can't go out with a random guy you've never even met, especially on such short notice."
"What do you mean 'no'? You're not my mom you can't decide who I hang out with!"
"Excuse me, Virgil, for looking out for you but might I remind you - this is my house! And I might as well be your mother, for all I do for you."
Virgil looked rather pissed, shoulders raised like a puffy cat. "The hell you mean, you don't do anything other than breathe down my neck all the time! I'm going to see this guy. I've been looking forward to it all night."
Remus had woken at this point, smacking their lips together as they woke up. "Would you look at that, the saccharine emo has risen before the fifteenth hour! How bizarre. Now, what are you hooligans hollering about?"
"Virgil wants to meet some freak off the Internet-"
"Janus thinks he gets to control my social life-"
"Hush hush, Papa Remus can't hear you both. Come sit on daddy's knee and we can discuss this~" Remus, ever the lewd imp, offered their knees for the two to sit.
"Uh, yeah, absolutely not." Virgil huffed, crossing spooks arms like a pouty child. "Janus thinks he has a say in whether or not I get to go on a perfectly normal date."
"And Virgil was planning to run off with an online stranger and do who-knows-what!"
"It's just COFFEE! Jeeze!"
Remus stared at Virgil, their two sets of eyes more calculating than most gave them credit. Janus awaited the verdict, senselessly reorganizing the cloves still left on the counter.
"You're not nervous about meeting up with a stranger, huh, Virgil?"
Spook frowned, as if the thought hadn't even crossed spooks mind.
"No. I trust him, it'll be fine! He's a lovely guy and would never dream of hurting me."
The imp sighed, standing up - and thankfully wrapping a blanket around their waist, likely only to prevent the screeching Virgil would let out if spook had to see their genitals ever again - and mooching over to a random skull trinket left on a shelf. They lifted it up, grabbed something, and tossed it at Virgil.
Spook didn't catch it, which was odd given Spook's usual reflexes, and instead bent to grab it before lifting it up to show off. A condom. Janus rolled his eyes, but Remus wasn't smirking or grinning so he decided to trust his roommate for a moment.
"If he's a great guy then you should go meet him, but make sure he wraps it before he taps it. Or you wrap it, whichever way you fancy, just make sure you don't spread all your nasty emo germs. Angst is contagious you know."
Virgil blinked once, twice, before dropping the condom back on the table and smiling. "Thank you, but I'm sure he'll have one if we need it. I've got to get going, see you both later!"
Virgil was out the door, closing it at a normal volume instead of the usual slam, but before Janus could even begin to remark on how strange spook was behaving Remus had whipped round to glare at him.
"This is your fault, you know."
"What? It must certainly is not, I was trying to get spook to stay home-"
"No, no, it's not that, you dummy." Remus tutted rounding back to the couch. Janus idly noted that the blanket had fallen off their waist. "It's your damn hocus-pocus whimsical shit. That anti-anxiety glitter you sprinkled glittered all the damn anxiety out of Virgil! Spook isn't nervous about a damn thing."
"What? That's a good thing, spook was terribly anxious."
"Uh-huh, Virgil is composed primarily of anxiety. There's more anxiety in spooks body than water - you've removed any and all anxiety. Sure, spook isn't anxious about the looking specter of death or stressing about the possibility of an evil masked killer breaking in, but Virgil also isn't scared of healthy shit. Like running into traffic, drinking bleach… "
"Meeting up with a total stranger that you've known for a few hours and seemingly open to the idea of getting intimate with them… oh heaven's, I've messed this up, huh?"
"Yup!" Remus grinned, giving a sarcastic clap. Janus flicked one of their horns, huffing. "Almost like you shouldn't cast spells on your friends without prior consent. It's a misdemeanor for a reason. Not that I'm a law-abiding citizen, but some laws are vaguely dictated by morality and shit."
Sure. Remus had a point. It wasn't entirely moral to hexx someone, especially to control their mental state but… Virgil's anxiety had been so bad recently, spook retreated entirely into spookself, spending most the day fighting off panic attacks and sleeping for up to eighteen hours a day. Virgil had even stopped coming down to hang out with Janus and Remus, whispering hoarsely through the door that spook couldn't stop the anxiety clawing at spooks throat at the thought of seeing another person.
A quiet, non-invasive yet lingering spell to coax the emo out of this pitt seemed logical, and over the past two weeks Virgil had crawled out of spooks room and slowly gone back to normal. Until now, apparently, cause the fool had gone in the direction and was walking around with the temperament of a successfully lobotomized patient.
And well, to put a long story short, Janus had no choice but to follow Virgil to that cafe, Remus in tow, and intervene on this date. The guy, an admittedly good looking gorgon, seemed slightly peeved at the interruption. Remus' flash of their demonic side scared him off, and while Virgil was upset before, once Janus had revoked the hexx? It was akin to hell fire.
"Virgil? You can't ignore me, Virgil. Open up!" Janus definitely didn't whine.
A loud thud from behind the door.
"What was that? I'm coming in right now!"
"Just fuck off, Janus! I'm done, done with you!" Virgil said, sweating as spook leant on the lid of a suitcase, clearly trying to get the over-crammed thing to zip up.
Janus took a few steps closer, a brief tinge of panic at the determination on Virgil's face.
"What are you doing, Virgil? We aren't… We aren't going anywhere you don't need to…"
"I'm leaving, Janus, I can't put up with anymore you're just," spook gestured to the warlocks whole body, half hovering over Virgil's bed, before screaming in frustration. "You're too much, I'm sick of being treated like a kid, just cause I'm not magical doesn't mean you know best."
"Oh Virgil please you can't leave! It's not, I don't think less of you, I just… I worry. You can be fragile, dear."
"That doesn't mean you get to cast on me without me knowing, and the fact I have to tell you that is enough. I'm leaving. I arranged an uber when I was in the car, it'll be here in ten. I'm LEAVING."
Spook hoisted the case up, nearly falling the other way at the weight of it, before correcting spooks stance and streaming past Janus. Or at least, spook tried to, but the warlock caught spooks arm at the last moment.
"You're not leaving over something so silly Virgil, I was in the wrong and I apologized, just put it behind us! Everything is sorted."
Virgil snarled, shoving his arm off with rare strength and storming off once more. "Oh sure, I'll stay, so you can control my every social interaction like some real life sim! How silly am I for being upset, you've already coughed a half-hearted sorry into your handkerchief so it's like it never happened! Not!"
"Oh, Virgil, you can be such a brat sometimes. I was looking out for you!"
"I don't need looking at, or monitor, it's not that, that book with the year and, oh shut up!"
"Don't be angry at me, I fixed it!"
"YOU CAUSED IT! YOU'RE THE PROBLEM JANUS!" it was rather rare for Virgil to have such a temper, even Remus had re-emerged to assess the situation as the two continued to go back and forth.
"Uh, what in the kraken's crack are you two screaming about?"
Virgil's little lip hardened in resolve, puffing spooks chest out before addressing the imp, "I'm leaving, moving out, I quit."
Remus simply raised an eyebrow, "Please, Virgil, you can't look a cashier in the eye and you wanna move out? Not happening, emo."
Virgil was visibly seething, looking down at spooks phone, no doubt the uber arriving.
"I'm not arguing with you two, you're both crazy if you think you have any control over me."
"Oh, so you only like us doing stuff for you when it's convenient," Janus spat, a toxic bitterness building in his chest. "All for my powers when it serves you, dear, you couldn't live without me, without us!"
"Maybe I could, maybe it's your freaky powers that's making me this fucking paranoid just so I'll stay here, you dramatic ass yandere!" Virgil swung the front door open, the brass handle banging the wall behind it to punctuate spooks sentence. "Bye forever. I'm changing my Netflix password."
Remus bit their lip, a brief feeling of panic at one of their two closest friends leaving forever. However, when they glanced at Janus, he didn't look nervous. He was glowing, facial scars beaming in a yellow light that traveled down to his hand, where a massive mass of every resided. Shit.
"I'll show you, you need us just as much as we need you, you're helpless without us!"
With that final decree, the energy launched at Virgil, smacking the emo with such force spooks hair whipped around for a second. Another second passed, Virgil growing paler by the second as spook assessed spookself closely for any defects.
Remus could already tell this was likely the official point of no return and there was no way Virgil was staying. The feeling was solidified as Virgil's expression hardened, grip on the comically large case tightening before giving Janus a look.
"You never will change, huh?"
And with that, Virgil was gone.
//
"So, what, you turned into a cat ever since?" Remy asked, sipping a coffee. The two were sat in a parking lot, enjoying Starbucks from the drive thru as Virgil shared spooks 'angsty anime backstory' (Remy's words exactly)
"Uh, yeah, I have. I tried to get it removed at the doctors but Janus is actually a very competent warlock, not to mention that the stronger the emotion the stronger the curse, so this hexx is very much stuck to me."
Remy huffed, adjusting his sunglasses with a pondering hum. "How did you cope, after you just ran away?"
"Eh, the uber took me to the train station and I hopped around for about four hours cause I had this fear that Janus and Remus were tailing me… Before I met you I was kinda just living wherever, this isn't the first time someone thought they'd just scored a new pet. If I couldn't leave before I turned human in the morning, it was either awkward or they screamed in horror and threw shit at me. After a few weeks I'd scraped enough to get a motel so I wasn't roaming the street rat-sized every night, and I didn't have to hoard my stuff under a bridge like a twitchy dragon. And then eventually we met and you know the rest… "
The vampire took a punctuated bite of their turkey bacon sandwich before responding. "We should probably try to look up this stupid curse, see if we can reverse anything. I'm not a full-ass vampire so I don't know if I can provide much magical mumbo-jumbo but I can make really cute study cards!"
"So, the library?"
"Yes! To the library, babes, let's get gone." the busted vehicle coughed, moved an inch before breaking so hard Virgil's drink spilled onto spooks lap.
"Whoops. Sorry, babes, I stalled it!"

FLOORecki Floors and Stairs
FLOORecki Floors and Stairs makes a statement in your home and sets the tone for its décor. Choosing the right stair material is important and can add beauty, durability, and value.
Generally, the stairs should match the flooring material used on both floors. Using transition molding at the stair’s end can help cover up an odd color difference or seam.
Tumblr media
Hardwood flooring has a timeless beauty. It adds elegance to any room and is easy to clean. It can be stained to match any design style and works well with stairs. Stairs made of hardwood create a natural transition from one level to another in your home and complement the other wood elements in your house.
Stair treads are designed for stairways and have the proper nosing to keep them safe. They can be stained to match the floor, but matching stains on the fly is not always possible. Using the correct materials and having the experience to understand how the wood grains run and face makes it much easier to make sure the stair treads match perfectly with your flooring.
Using a combination of particleboard base and wood or tile finish, laminate is a durable flooring option that can replicate the look of natural materials at an affordable price. Typically, it's easy to clean and scratch-resistant.

Available in various shapes and materials, laminate door bars come in T-bars for same-level transitions, reducer strips for connecting floors of different heights, and threshold bars for doorways. Understanding their role and purpose helps ensure that your flooring looks seamless and professional, enhancing the overall design of your space.
Why Choosing the Right Door Bar Matters
Choosing the right laminate door bar is crucial for maintaining the integrity and aesthetics of your flooring. Without the proper door bar, flooring edges can become exposed, leading to wear, damage, or even warping over time. A well-chosen door bar not only protects the edges but also ensures that the transition between rooms feels cohesive and natural. Additionally, door bars provide stability by preventing flooring from shifting or expanding. They also add a finishing touch that can elevate the design of your home, ensuring that transitions between flooring materials look polished and intentional.
Types of Laminate Door Bars Explained
There are several types of laminate door bars available, each designed for specific purposes. The most common types include T-bars, which are used for transitioning between two floors of the same height; reducer strips, ideal for connecting laminate with carpet or tiles at different heights; and threshold bars, which are primarily used at doorways. Some laminate door bars come in multi-purpose designs, allowing them to be used for a variety of transitions. The type you choose will depend on the materials you're working with, the height difference between floors, and the specific location where the transition is needed.
Factors to Consider When Selecting a Laminate Door Bar
Several factors should be considered when choosing a laminate door bar. First, evaluate the height difference between the two floors. For level transitions, a T-bar will work best, while a reducer strip is necessary for connecting floors with a significant height difference. The material of the door bar is another important factor. You’ll want to choose a material that complements both your laminate flooring and the adjoining floor. Additionally, consider the finish of the door bar, as it should match or blend seamlessly with your floor's color and texture. Durability is also key, especially in high-traffic areas like entryways.
Matching Your Door Bar with Different Flooring Types
One of the key challenges when selecting a laminate door bar is ensuring that it complements the various types of flooring in your home. For instance, if you're transitioning from laminate to carpet, a threshold or reducer strip may be necessary to ensure the floors align smoothly. When matching laminate to tile, consider using a T-bar or a transition strip designed to handle different flooring materials. It's also essential to consider color and texture. Ideally, the door bar should blend with both floors, creating a seamless visual transition rather than drawing attention to itself.
How to Measure and Fit Laminate Door Bars
Accurate measurement and fitting are essential for the successful installation of a laminate door bar. Begin by measuring the width of the doorway or the area where the transition will take place. Make sure to account for any height difference between the two floors to determine whether you need a T-bar or reducer strip. Once you have the correct size and type, cut the door bar to fit, if necessary. Ensure the area is clean before securing the bar in place with adhesive or screws. Proper alignment is crucial for a smooth transition and to prevent tripping hazards.
Materials and Finishes: Which One is Best for Your Space?
Laminate door bars come in a variety of materials, each offering different aesthetic and functional benefits. Aluminum door bars are durable and ideal for high-traffic areas, while wooden door bars complement wood and laminate floors, adding a more natural look. PVC or plastic door bars are more affordable and easier to install but may lack the durability of metal or wood options. The finish of the door bar is equally important. You can choose from a range of finishes, including wood grain patterns, metallic looks, or even matte finishes, depending on the overall style of your space.
Installation Methods for Laminate Door Bars
The method of installing a laminate door bar depends on the type of bar you’ve chosen. Some door bars can be installed using adhesive, while others may require screws for a more secure fit. For T-bars and reducer strips, it’s essential to leave a small expansion gap between the bar and the laminate flooring to accommodate any movement caused by changes in temperature or humidity. Before installation, ensure the area is clean, dry, and level. Proper installation will not only enhance the appearance of the transition but also ensure the longevity of both the door bar and the flooring.
Common Mistakes to Avoid When Choosing Laminate Door Bars
There are several common mistakes to avoid when selecting a laminate door bar. One of the most frequent errors is choosing the wrong type of bar for the transition. For example, using a T-bar when there’s a significant height difference between floors can result in an uneven or unsafe transition. Another mistake is not considering the material or finish, leading to a mismatch between the door bar and the flooring. Finally, improper installation, such as failing to account for expansion gaps or using the wrong adhesive, can lead to premature wear or damage to the floor edges.
Top Recommendations for Laminate Door Bars in 2024
In 2024, several laminate door bars stand out for their design, durability, and ease of installation. Aluminum T-bars with brushed finishes are popular for their sleek appearance and strength, making them ideal for modern interiors. Wooden threshold bars, particularly those with oak or maple finishes, are highly recommended for traditional spaces or homes with wood or laminate floors. For budget-friendly options, PVC door bars are increasingly preferred due to their lightweight design and easy installation. Brands that offer a wide range of customizable finishes are also in demand, allowing homeowners to match their door bars perfectly with their existing flooring.
Conclusion
Selecting the right laminate door bar is crucial for achieving a polished and seamless transition between rooms or flooring materials. By understanding the different types of door bars, considering factors such as height differences, materials, and finishes, and following proper installation methods, you can ensure that your floors look professional and remain protected over time. Whether you're connecting laminate to carpet, tile, or other surfaces, the right door bar will enhance both the aesthetic and functional qualities of your space. With a variety of materials and designs available, finding the perfect laminate door bar has never been easier.

Enhance Your Flooring Experience with Essential Accessories
Introduction:
When it comes to revamping your living space, flooring plays a pivotal role in setting the ambiance. However, achieving the perfect look and functionality often requires more than just the flooring material itself. That's where flooring accessories come into play. From practical essentials to decorative accents, these accessories elevate your flooring experience to new heights. In this article, we delve into the world of flooring accessories, exploring their importance and how they can enhance your space.
Why Flooring Accessories Matter:
Flooring accessories are more than just add-ons; they are essential components that complement your flooring choice, ensuring a seamless and polished look. Whether you've opted for tiles, hardwood, laminate, or carpet, the right accessories can make a significant difference in both aesthetics and functionality.
Essential Flooring Accessories:
Underlayment: Acting as a barrier between the subfloor and the flooring material, underlayment provides insulation, moisture protection, and soundproofing. It's crucial for enhancing the lifespan and performance of your floors, especially in high-traffic areas.
Transition Strips: Transition strips create a smooth transition between different types of flooring or between rooms. They not only improve the visual appeal but also prevent tripping hazards and protect the edges of the flooring.
Flooring Adhesives: For installations such as tiles or vinyl flooring, quality adhesives are indispensable. They ensure a secure bond between the flooring and the subfloor, preventing issues like buckling or shifting over time.
Grout and Sealants: In tile installations, grout fills the gaps between tiles, providing stability and preventing water penetration. Sealants, on the other hand, protect the grout and tiles from stains, moisture, and microbial growth, enhancing durability and cleanliness.
Flooring Trims and Mouldings: Trims and mouldings add a finishing touch to your flooring project, covering expansion gaps, rough edges, and transitions. They come in various styles and materials to complement different flooring types and designs.
Decorative Accessories:
Beyond the practical essentials, there's a plethora of decorative accessories that can enhance the aesthetic appeal of your floors:
Area Rugs and Runners: These versatile accessories not only protect high-traffic areas but also add warmth, texture, and visual interest to your floors. Choose from a wide range of colors, patterns, and sizes to suit your style.
Flooring Vents: Often overlooked, stylish vents blend seamlessly with your flooring while ensuring proper airflow throughout the room. They come in various finishes, including wood, metal, and plastic, to match your decor.
Stair Nosing: If your flooring extends to stairs, stair nosing provides a finished look while enhancing safety by providing traction and preventing slips.
Flooring Borders and Inlays: Elevate the elegance of your floors with intricate borders or inlays made from contrasting materials or patterns. These decorative elements serve as focal points and add a touch of luxury to any space.
Conclusion:
flooring accessories are the unsung heroes of any flooring project, offering both practical benefits and aesthetic enhancements. Whether you're installing new floors or giving your existing ones a makeover, investing in quality accessories is essential for achieving a professional finish and maximizing the longevity of your flooring. From underlayment to decorative accents, each accessory plays a crucial role in elevating your space and creating a lasting impression.

Black Wedding [Chapter Two] Silver Tongue [Albert Wesker]
Tumblr media
Aria didn't want to go home once she got into her car a little after seven this morning. She was too scared to be alone and far too tired to stay awake, cowering beneath her blankets in an empty home as she worried about being mauled to death in her sleep.
Even though none of the murders had occurred indoors, and despite Albert assuring her that she'd be fine nestled away in their home under lock and key, she was still too scared to go home. Aria didn't want to let her guard down, not when the murders occurred close to home. That sort of ignorance horrified her the most.
How could anyone sleep soundly knowing a person in the same community was dead? Murdered, no less.
Aria frowned and gripped the steering wheel.
Poor Mr. Webster.
Her heart went out to her.
His death shook her. Dr. Hersh called it at a quarter till five this morning, though he passed on before the EMTs arrived at his home on Wallace Street. His carotid artery had a puncture; his spine broken, causing him to bleed out in minutes during the alleged onslaught.
His wife passed years ago from leukemia, so Aria had to leave a voice message with his son, who lived in Washington, according to his address. In a soothing voice too unreal for a woman who just witnessed a horrific murder, Aria informed him to contact the Hospital Director once he heard it. Still, she doubted that Mr. Webster's son would get the message until much later, given the time zone.
An EMT that brought him in reported that a neighbor from across the street saw Mr. Webster get attacked by a black dog near the edge of the forest; several large chunks were missing from his upper body, unlike any canine attack Aria had ever heard of before. What was he doing near the woods in the middle of the night? And what drove the animal to attack him?
Perhaps the beast was starving. Why else would it eat him?
Aria shivered in fear.
She tore from the parking lot in her Audi and turned onto Mission Street, heading towards Central down to Ennerdale, where the police department sat; the prominent structure before 1969 was an art museum bought out by the RPD.
Aria transferred to Raccoon General in 1992 after its construction, coming from Stone Ville, a town northwest of the city, but she knew its history, despite how expansive Raccoon had grown during her time from home; the city continued to grow even now thanks to Umbrella Pharmaceuticals, and the company's investments.
Parking her car, she strode from the underground garage to the department's entrance, slowing her rushed pace once she entered the reception area to the right of the main hall.
She noticed a woman with dark hair that she had never seen before occupying the reception desk. As she approached, the woman glanced up from her computer in boredom.
“What can I help you with, ma'am?”
Aria cleared her throat. “I came to see Albert Wesker.”
The woman typed something into her computer and hummed, then tossed a laminated pass onto the counter; Aria hooked it onto the pocket of her scrub top.
“The S.T.A.R.S. office is up the stairs at the far end of the hall,” she explained in a dead tone. “Be sure to sign in before you go.”
Aria did as she instructed, then stormed down the hall, turning the corner near the entrance to the west office. As she neared the stairs, she came across Barry Burton at the vending machine, recognizing his hideous red vest.
“Isn't it too early for a break?”
Barry turned in shock, staring at her. Once he recognized who Aira was, he narrowed his eyes.
“I'm surprised that Wesker let you off the leash today,” he teased.
Aria snorted and rolled her eyes. Barry was uneasy about her marriage to Albert, mainly because she married him a year after meeting him. She hadn't even had a honeymoon yet, but that didn't matter; she loved Albert.
He was quiet and somewhat arrogant when prompted, but he never treated Aria like she was inferior to him. Albert kept her together.
Barry didn't understand. Not to mention he wanted to set her up with Chris – his good friend – despite the eleven-year age gap.
“Behave,” Aria teased. “I don't want to tell Kathy that you've been eating junk food when you're not supposed to.”
Barry grunted. “I said nothing.”
She thought so. Her older sister was a force to be reckoned with, and he knew it.
“What are you doing here, Aria?”
She frowned, recalling the events of this morning.
“I want to see Albert is all,” she explained.
Barry sighed, bending with a grunt to pick his candy bar up from the exit slot.
“You might want to wait,” he suggested. “Irons is up there bitching to him about something. He sent the entire unit out.”
Aria puckered a brow. “Is everything alright?”
It was none of her business, but she wondered if the meeting with Irons had anything to do with the murder on Wallace Street. But why involve the S.T.A.R.S. unit? The murders were not a product of antiterrorism or urban crime and were more suited towards the cases the Patrol Division officers oversaw.
Perhaps she was overthinking it.
“As far as I know,” Barry answered back.
Aria hoped so. She said her farewells, deciding to wait near the S.T.A.R.S office, but as she began to climb the stairs, she had an idea and peeked over the railing to call out to Barry down below.
“Do you think Kathy and the girls would like to visit the zoo Friday?”
Barry hummed. “I don't see why not. I'll ask them tonight.”
Aria thanked him and continued up the stairs to the second floor. She rested on the bench next to the office door and waited for Irons to leave.
Once he appeared, storming out into the hall as he uttered beneath his breath Aria stood and greeted him.
“It's good to see you again,” she mentioned with a fake smile.
Irons grinned, looking her over. “The pleasure is mine. How are things over at the hospital?”
“Fine,” she answered back.
He reached forward and gently touched her shoulder. “Ethan called me already. I heard about the man who died this morning, but I don't want you to fret, Aria. I'll take care of it.”
“I appreciate that, sir. Thank you,” she stated.
Albert must have known as well.
Easing over, Aria grabbed the knob and opened the office door.
“Try and get some sleep, Aria. You look tired,” Irons mentioned.
She nodded and slid inside, closing the door behind her.
His kindness was innocent, but at times it freaked her out.
Aria sighed and strolled further into the room. Albert had his own office immediately to the left after coming into the primary office; she entered once she knocked on the door.
He puckered a brow.
“Aria, what are you doing here?”
He seemed to be in an irritated mood.
“I came to see you,” she answered back. “But I can leave if it's not a good time.”
Aria was referring to what Barry had said; about Irons grilling him.
Albert motioned her in; she looked desperate.
Aria shut the door behind her and strutted towards the desk, coming around the side of it.
“I guess you heard,” she mentioned. “Mr. Webster – the widower on Wallace Street – was brought in this morning.”
Albert hummed. “Brad mentioned that it was an animal attack.”
“Another one near our street,” Aria confirmed.
He puckered a brow, watching as she sat on the desktop. Her tired eyes stared down at him; Albert understood.
“Are you too scared to go home alone?”
She frowned. “I hate how you said that.”
Like she could do nothing without him.
Aria sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. She had a terrible headache brewing.
“That wasn't fair,” she mentioned. “I'm just tired; forgive me.”
Albert opened his desk drawer and tossed her a bottle of Diphenhydramine.
“These will put me in a coma,” Aria joked.
He hummed. “Whatever makes you sleep easier.”
“You being home will make me sleep,” she countered.
That reminded her.
“Are you working this weekend?”
Albert nodded and stood up. “Something came up.”
Of course, something came up.
“But I'm home Sunday,” he added. “And we can catch up.”
Aria grinned. At least she had one day alone with him.
“Please tell me what you want for Sunday, and I'll cook for you,” she offered.
Albert grinned and motioned towards his seat. “I'll think of something. In the meantime, rest your eyes. I'll wake you before I leave.”
Her face heated up. “Thank you.”
How did he take her mind from one place to the next? It amazed her.
Aria hopped from the desk and embraced him. Her cheek rested against his chest.
“I'd be a mess without you,” she said with a laugh.
Albert snorted and buried his fingers into her coarse blond hair, aware that she wasn't joking.
Aria was a feeble pet, after all.

Headcanon: How would Actus Reus!Andy go after reader when Laurie and Jacob die?
Actus Reus
Tumblr media
Warning: allusions to noncon and trauma, some elements untagged.
He’s all dressed in black
And he’s drunk
Banging on your door as if he’s intent on knocking it down
You let him in because you know he will
He stumbled in and the empty flask bounces against the wall
He kicks the door shut as he plants a hand on the coat rack to steady himself
“What are you doing here?” you ask
Of course, he only ever came around for one thing
But you hoped after the tragedy that he might stay away
That the mourning might undercut his anger
“What?” he spits and his hand goes to your throat, “Why do i ever come around? You’re only good for one thing.”
“Really?” you huff
He staggers and his hand slips to your shoulder
“They’re dead,” he says in a small voice
You watch him cynically. He didn’t care so much when they were alive
“And you’re alone, like you deserve,” you shove him away and reach for the door, “go home and sober up.”
“No, I’m not alone,” he closes the door as you begin to open it, “you… you get that mouth ready.”
He grabs your chin and hooks his thumb over your bottom lip
“You’re disgusting,” you utter, “Andy, your family--”
“Like I don’t know!” he hollers and latches onto you
He spins and tosses you so that you sprawl against the long rug that stretches beside the stairs
You sit up shakily and he grasps your ankles, pulling you so that your back hits the floor
He drags you, the carpet rumpling beneath you
He slips you over and straddles you under him as he rips down your jeans
“Andy--” you slap the floor and claw at the wooden laminate
“Shut up, you bitch,” he snarls, “you know what happens if you scream. You don’t want everyone to know you’re a whore--”
“Stop, please, this isn’t-- you’re drunk--” you hiss as he hits the back of your head and your nose cracks against the floor, “ow.”
“There’s nothing left to keep me from you,” he snarls as he jolts your body, the denim town down to your ankles.

Five Hargreeves X Reader | 2
(from my Wattpad: @FaithBeLovly)
Tumblr media
Part 2
Pairing: Five Hargreeves X Reader
Word Count: 2,781
You find yourself sitting in front of the tv, watching the news broadcast of what happened at the cafe yesterday. You try to see if any information was said about the boy who saved you- shoved you, mostly. And he spilled scorching hot coffee all over you, but... all in all, he took a bullet while you were just peachy. You bite your nails a bit in nervousness. Hope was still in your mind that he didn't bleed out or get shot again and die or something. You don't get any information from the news channel and turn it off, tossing the remote on the couch as you walk out the door dawning a yellow rain coat and a pair of doc martens.
You walk along the damp sidewalk, stepping in every puddle you pass by. You grind your teeth with stress as you see the cafe not too far down the street. As you come closer, you notice detectives and caution tape surrounding the scene. You figure that whoever was in that van got away. You walk up to the tape and then start to backtrack away from it as you think about your chances of being questioned by gritty detectives if you stuck around in the open. You go towards the back door where you escaped from and try to open it. It was locked. You step back and remember the boy's school jacket. You remember it having some sort of umbrella on the patch on his shirt. It didn't give you any ideas about who the boy was or how to check on him. You walk away from the scene, pulling your hood over your head as it starts to rain again.
You start to wonder if this was just a small miracle, being saved by someone you'd never get to say thank you to. These kinds of things happened all the time right? It was just a world with everyone living their own lives, doing things without reward or consequence. You found the whole situation brave. No boy her age would have that kind of reaction if they were getting shot at. Maybe you were just lucky. Wouldn't it be some shit if you ended up getting shot the next day anyway? The world's cruel like that. An umbrella picture against stained glass windowed doors catches your attention. You walk backwards until you're in front of a big brick building. It seemed eerie and quiet. You see a bronze plaque on the outside of the building. You walk up the short steps to the door and read it, the distressed words engraved on it reading: The Umbrella Academy. You scrunch your nose, not hearing of such a thing. You wonder what kind of thing they teach here. Maybe making umbrellas, I don't fucking know. You look up at the doors in front of you and decide to knock on it with the brass knock-handles built onto it. You wait there for a few long moments, wondering if this place was abandoned or something. It seemed quiet, and dark. To your surprise the door opens slightly. A small eyeball peeks through the crack, a warm elderly man's voice welcoming you. "Can I help you?" The voice says.
You sit there, feeling dumb for not being prepared with something to say. You ask stupidly, "Uh, yes. I-Is this a school? The Umbrella Academy?"
The voice sighs a little before replying, "I'm afraid it isn't anymore.."
"Oh.. Well do you know anyone who'd wear a uniform from this place or something? Maybe an old student?" The eyes peering out at you get a little bigger. You explain yourself further, "It's just that- I saw someone near here wearing this umbrella symbol on their jacket a-and they got shot trying to save me and I wanted to make sure he was okay." The eyes from within the shadows look down and then back up at you as the voice says through a sigh,
"Five..." The door opens more to reveal a shorter figure- well, a... a fucking monkey. You blink in confusion, but smile a bit to be respectful. He wore a nice formal suit and small little glasses upon his chimpanzee face. He held the door with one chimp hand, the other holding himself up with a wooden cane. He was quite cute actually. Weird, but cute. "I'm so sorry that happened. I'm sure you must be a friend of Five's." You shake your head a little with confusion.
"I'm sorry? Five, you said? Five what?" You were very lost. As per usual. The polite ape in front of you lifts his cane to direct you inside. You reluctantly enter, not even sure what this place is. She wonders if she'll leave looking like a monkey too.
"The young boy in culottes? Tall socks? Well dressed?" He says, starting to wonder if Five might've saved a stranger, which was unusual for him. You nod to him as you walk in, looking around. It was much bigger inside than it appeared from the outside. It had old floors, walls, and set of two staircases leading upstairs somewhere in front of you. The rugs decorating the creaky floor looked antique. You stand in the lobby area, unsure what to do.
"Yeah, that one."
"The name's Five." A voice echoes through the room as the same boy from yesterday was standing across the room with a coffee mug in hand. You were caught off guard. You felt like you were intruding. Your face gets hot with embarrassment. You pick at a loose thread on your jeans as you look at the boy's leg. He had a proper bandage around his leg, the wound appearing fine considering the way he's even standing now. The suited ape closes the door behind you and smiles at the two of you as he waddles away with his cane, leaving us to it. The boy-Five, takes a sip of whatever's in the yellow mug. "You were at the cafe, weren't you? Yeah, the one with a staring problem." You drop your head to look at your shoes as you are ripping at the seams with embarrassment. You take a deep breath of recovery and look back at him, your hands in your pockets to hide the way they were fidgeting. The boy smiles a bit and nods towards the room behind him, motioning that you should follow him. You reluctantly walk over to him and follow him into a large living room/bar area. The wall was decorated with expensive-looking paintings and head mounts of animals. Tall bookcases lined the room. You clear your throat and say nervously as you look around, "Private school much?" Five chuckles into his mug as he takes another sip.
"This isn't a school," he says, clearly enjoying talking to such a lesser knowledgeable individual by the way he smiled widely, his dimples appearing. You make a face. "It's my home." You take a silent breath as you look around with wide eyes. You then shake your head in even more embarrassment as you realize you're intruding his house.
"Sorry- I just thought that-"
"The Umbrella Academy,"  he says with a smile, lifting his mug as if the name was glorious. You realize it's sarcastic praise as he laughs at it afterwards. "Yeah no, this place was home to a brooding rich man who decided to raise 7 children he didn't have time or sympathy for. Although, we did study and go through lectures everyday growing up here." You try to process that whole story as you look at him.
"S-So you have seven siblings?" You start to wonder what they're like and try to imagine what they look like while examining Five.
"Adopted. And always scattered. Hardly in one place." Well there goes trying to imagine his siblings' appearances in comparison to him.
"Oh," You say, feeling overwhelmed with all this information. You shake your head and turn back to him, remembering what you came here to say to him. "I just came to say thanks..." Five lowers his mug down from his thin raspberry-tinted lips without taking a sip. You wait for his delayed response. He eyes you up and down with that serious furrowed eyebrow expression. He has his head tilted to the side a bit, his Adam's apple exposed along his long neck. His hair fell a bit from its swoosh as he tilted his head.
"Didn't need someone getting shot for my messes." he says, his voice serious yet... gentle and sincere. A silence drifts between the two of you as you hold your arm along your side, looking at his leg. He lowers his head a bit to match the way you kept yours low. He catches your eyes and says, "It's fine. I got it patched up." You nod, taking his reassurance as you start to look a little guilty. He sets his coffee mug down on the bar counter and starts walking past you, turning to look at you. "Come on, I have something you might want."
You look at him with uncertainty before nodding and following behind him. You gain some reassurance as he turned to wait for you to catch up to him at the bottom of the steps. He didn't want to leave you alone behind him. You walk up the staircase side by side, holding onto the railing to give your hand something to focus on.
"Why are you nervous?" He asks very calmly. His voice was consistently cool and collected just like his demeanor. Your eyes dart around the stairs underneath you as you try to think of what to say to that. How did he know I'm nervous?  You clear your throat as quietly as you can as you reply shakily,
"A-Anxiety. Kind of my thing I guess..." Five looks at your avoiding face, his brows lowered in a concerned, but understanding way. He keeps walking up the steps.
"Sorry." He says softly. The way his voice left his lips felt like a gentle warm breeze along your ears made you feel warm inside. You shake your head and laugh to diffuse the tension.
"Nothing to be sorry about. It's just something that's wrong with me." As you both reach the top of the steps, he looks at you with his hands in his pockets.
"Not a flaw. A quality." He says, reassuring you once again. You stand there for a moment too long as he walks where he's leading you, leaving you there in your thoughts. You never had anyone say something so honest and constructive like that. You didn't have anyone, really. You realize he's started to walk off and follow behind him quickly. You walk down the hallway past many rooms with closed doors. There were interesting laminated posters with self defense moves printed on them taped along the walls, low to the ground as if they were intended for kids to see. You stand behind Five as he opens his room door. You stand at the doorway respectfully as he walks in and fetches something from his closet. Lots of books and papers decorated the room along with a ridiculous amount of mathematical writing across every inch of the walls. You didn't recognize a single equation.
He comes back to the doorway, holding out a scarf. My scarf.  It was clean, the blood stripped from its fabric. You take it from his hands slowly, your hands barely touching as neither of you let go of the scarf. You look up to find Five's eyes of oceans focused on your face, almost as if they've been gazing at you this whole time. His brows weren't tense anymore while his eyes were gentle. You blush hard, lifting the scarf to your face to hide it. He lets go as you lift it and scratches the back of his head as he looks at the scarf instead of you.
"I thought you might want that back," he says, adjusting his tie. You giggle a little from behind the scarf and move it away as you say,
"It's not even mine." The both of you laugh a little as his eyes widen a bit, a smile on his face. You stole that scarf from a Walmart a few weeks ago. You look down again but then back up at him, feeling more comfortable looking directly at someone- at him. "Thank you anyway."  He nods and leans against the door frame, his hands in his pockets again. Must be a habit.
"So your name is...?"
"Y/N," you say quickly, just realizing you never introduced yourself back to him. "Sorry, I didn't mean to keep you on the edge of your seat to find out," you say, somewhat playfully flirting with him. His dimples jump out at you as he gives you a toothy grin. He scoffs with a slight chuckle.
"You do know you don't have to keep apologizing for everything." He says, his brows raised as he knows he got you there, proving it to him as you blush.
"Sorry-Agh fuck,"
"You did it again."
"I know, I know-" The both of you laugh, his actual laugh very pleasing to listen to. You shake your head and your smile starts to fade. He takes notice as he's now doing that thing where he lowers his head to your eye level and then lifts back up to encourage you to tell him what's wrong. "What was that...?" You ask, "At the cafe?" His smile quickly fades, his expression now that solemn, brooding look.
"Well, I've got a bit of trouble following me around lately." He scratches the back of his head. "Bunch of commission goons here to kill me." Your face immediately turns into concern and confusion.
"Kill you?! So they're gonna be back?"
"Yep," he sighs, lifting up on his toes and then falling back onto his heels. "And they're probably going to be coming after you now." You give him an even more concerned look.
"Me??  Wh- I don't even know what you're talking about! We gotta call the cops or something-"
"Cops are useless and very insignificant to this particular problem." He says. You shake your head and put your face into the scarf, your anxiety kicking up a notch. It feels like a slimy snake trickling up your throat, building pressure in your body. You try to keep it down and breathe heavily into the scarf. He shifts a little as he realizes what's going on with you, moving closer to you. He pulls your hands and scarf down from your face, looking at you. You feel exposed and vulnerable. He holds your arms and shakes them a bit to get you to pay attention.
"Listen to me," You continue to breathe more frequently, your hands shaking a bit. "No one's gonna kill you. You can stay here, I can protect you-"
"Protect me? I can't-"
"Listen, listen- I can. I can protect you. You just gotta calm down for me, alright?" He looks into your eyes, his grip on your arms becoming a little tighter to let you know he's got you. Your eyes dart back and forth across his face before closing, your head nodding quickly as you struggle to breathe regularly. He then puts his hands behind your ears, holding you gently as he tries to get you to focus.
"Breathe, take a deep breath. Come on, breathe." You nod to him to let him know you're trying as you close your eyes and take deep breaths, the break in between breaths letting your nerves calm down, your breathing becoming normal again. "There," he says, his thumb stroking the side of your face. You open your eyes, looking into his eyes. He was so close to you now, your faces inches away from each other. You feel your body relax, your head resting against his hands. You feel the tension between you both, the moment making your heart beat louder in your chest.
"Five has a girlfriend! And she's real! In the flesh!" a voice shrieks from behind them. Five immediately lets go of you and furrows his brows, his face showing complete agitated rage and annoyance. A lanky man in tight, suggestive hippy clothing watches you from the end of the hall.
"KLAUS, you are INCREDIBLY  infuriating!" Five shouts as he warps through a bright blue light, disappearing from in front of you and appearing down the hallway after his brother, Klaus screaming and laughing as he makes a break for it. "I swear, I will kill  you, you idiot!" You smile a little, feeling closer to the boy in culottes.

Heartbreak Hotel (d.s.) - Epilogue
A/N I hated this when I started writing it but turns out I was just hungry. I ate and now I kinda vibe with it. I love love love this universe’s future almost more than the og novel universe lowkey-
Tumblr media
August 30, 1966
Two pairs of little hands slid the delicate china plates onto the laminate countertop, tiny sticky fingers pushing the plates safely onto the surface ever so gently. Loretta glanced down from washing the dinner dishes, meeting two mirrored pairs of bright blue eyes and lightly freckles noses and her simple glance had two identical smiles beaming up at her.
“Thank you, my loves.” she said sweetly, petting them each on the head. “You’re great helpers.”
Daniel came up behind her and set the last dishes on the counter before pressing a kiss to her cheek, “Dinner was amazing as usual. Thank you.”
“Well I can’t let my family starve, now, can I?” Loretta joked, patting his chest as he leaned in to kiss her lips, the two children wrapping themselves around his legs like he was play structure. With one four-year-old sitting on each foot, Daniel was stuck in place and he held himself up on the counter as he looked down at them.
“Oh my…it looks like I have two super cute monsters tied to my legs.” Daniel tisked, bending down to tickle each of them until they were shrieking with laughter and scrambled off the floor and rushing down the hallway. Daniel called after them playfully, “It’s bath-time, little monsters, you better get upstairs before I catch you!”
Two little pairs of feet stomped up the stairs and the simple sound of the twins traipsing through the house always made Loretta’s heart warm and she leaned over to kiss Daniel’s shoulder, her hands still wet from washing the dishes. Daniel glanced back at her, leaning back against the counter with his hands behind him on the granite, catching her staring.
“What?” he chuckled lightly.
Loretta shrugged and bit back her smile, turning back to the soapy water in the kitchen sink, “Nothin’.”
“Nothin’?” Daniel mocked her, slipping closer and grabbing the front of her pleated blue pants with his pinky to urge her towards him too.
Loretta leaned in towards him until their noses brushed; always liking to linger on that excited flutter in her heart before their lips met – a feeling that never once faltered since their very first kiss nearly eight years before. Daniel’s hand slid slowly around her waist and across her lower back before pulling her right up against him so they were chest to chest, lips grazing ever so gently.
“I love you.” Daniel breathed, eyes flicking between hers and her lips in their close proximity.
“I love you too.” Loretta smiled, finally kissing him sweetly after just enough buildup.
A sudden thud from upstairs had them separating quickly and looking to the ceiling as if they could see what had happened from a full storey apart. Daniel scratched his fingers lightly over Loretta’s back for a moment and their eyes met again.
“I should go see what they’re up to up there.” Daniel whispered.
“Mhm.” Loretta chuckled. “I’ll be up for bedtime.”
She left him with one more kiss before he was pinching her hip lovingly and heading off down the hallway towards the stairs. She watched him disappear around the corner and smiled at his playful call up to the children,
“All arms, legs, and heads must be accounted for when I get up there!”
Fourteen foot steps later, a pair of laughing shrieks filled the house and Loretta’s heart absolutely swelled with glee as she turned back to the dishes. She flicked on the radio and sang softly as she scrubbed, not even bothering to overpower the sound of her family upstairs.
In the main bathroom at the top of the straight flight of stairs, the door was left open and two sets of children’s clothes were scattered over the floor and some even having landed in the hallway. Daniel was knelt on the tile beside the filled bathtub, his sleeves rolled up to the elbows, as he scrubbed shampoo through two full heads of brown hair.
“It’s a good thing I have two hands, huh? It would be very difficult to wash you both if I only had one.” Daniel said.
“Not if you only had one of us, Daddy.” his daughter stated, busy pushing a toy boat through the soapy water.
“I would never ever only want one of you, so that is not even an idea.” Daniel tisked.
“You wouldn’t want only one arm too.” his son argued lightly.
“You are very right.” Daniel agreed. “When did I get such smart children?”
The four-year-old twins just giggled, staring up at him adoringly from their warm bath. He booped each of their noses, leaving a small blob of soap suds behind on each of them, and they both sneezed at the same time, making all three of them laugh.
“Okay,” Daniel grabbed the small plastic pail from the water and filled it up with clean water, “Diana dearest, you’re first. Eye closed.”
She scrunched her eyes closed and pinched her nose so he could dump the water over her head and rinse the shampoo from her hair. She rubbed the water out of her eyes and reached for her toy boat again.
“Your turn, Presley. Eyes closed.” Daniel said, filling the pail again.
The slightly younger twin shut his eyes and held his hands over his face so his hair could be rinsed as well.
When they were both washed and rinsed, Daniel drained the tub and got them each dried off and wrapped in fluffy towels, ushering them both down the carpeted hallway and into their shared bedroom as they dripped excess water in their wake. The twins sat on the end of each of their single beds as Daniel pulled out their pyjamas from their dresser and tossed them each a pair.
“I wanna see you dressed in your jammies when I get back, okay? Impress me.” Daniel said as he backed out of the room. The twins nodded and he tapped the doorframe before heading back to the bathroom to clean up. He gathered their dirty clothes and put the bath toys away just as Loretta finished the dishes and headed upstairs to join them.
Both parents headed back into the bedroom to find both four-year-old dressed in their pyjamas with wet hair and matching grins.
“You two blow me away. You’re too smart for me.” Daniel gaped, just to humour the children and they giggled proudly.
“Let’s get your hair dried so we don’t catch a cold.” Loretta said, stepping out of the doorway to let the twins lead the way into the master bathroom this time.
Daniel took the laundry downstairs to get it started while Loretta took her turn with the children, both of them sitting up on the bathroom counter as she blow-dried their hair and helped them brush their teeth. After a sip of water each and a quick bathroom break, they were rushing back down the upstairs hallway to bed.
Daniel returned in perfect timing to tuck them in, both him and Loretta making sure the sheets were tucked nice and tightly around each child. Loretta closed the curtains and turned on the lamp that sat on the table between the two single beds as Daniel climbed onto bed with his daughter. Diana shuffled over a little to give him room and he draped his arm over the pillows behind her head.
“What story do you want to hear tonight?” Loretta asked.
“Tell us a story, Mommy.” Presley said.
“Tell you a story? What kind of story?” Loretta sat on the side of his bed and brushed her fingers through his soft brown hair that was nearly falling in his eyes.
“How you and Daddy met.” Diana answered for her brother, but he nodded eagerly in agreement, only making his hair flop back over his forehead in the process.
Daniel and Loretta’s eyes met from across the children’s bedroom and they shared small smiles at all the memories that seemed to flick past their minds at the simple mention of their love story.
“Well, we didn’t seem to have much of a choice in the matter.” Loretta said, crossing her legs under her on the end of Presley’s bed. The children nuzzled into their sheets as they got cozy for the story. Daniel pressed a soft kiss to his daughter’s hair as she turned her head to face her mother. “When you become grownups, the universe gives you little hints to who is your perfect match and it’s up to you to find them. But the moment you meet, it is pretty hard to ignore it.”
“Uncle Christian met his soulmate and she had to go back home all the way across the world but the universe didn’t like that so they were brought back together eventually.” Daniel explained.
“And now they’re married.” Diana stated.
“Exactly.” Daniel smiled at her, running his thumb over her cheek and her light freckles. “Just like Mommy and me.”
“But how did you meet?” Presley pressed them on.
“Well, I guess it started in the summer of 1958, with strawberry milkshakes and a man named Elvis…”
