I'm feeling pretty shaken from a panic attack and I was just wondering what lamia Blue would be like living in the forest, what's his duty in the group, and how would he deal with calming someone down were they to stumble upon him on accident on the edge of the forest while he was out?

First off, I hope you're doing better, and taking care of yourself. I know how hard panic attacks can be, and I'm sending all the good gentle recovery vibes your way. ♡♡♡

Second, to answer your question!

So, the skelebros-as-lamias don't quite get along as well as the Lilytale crew; in fact both the guys and the girls, in their sibling pairs, effectively met each other after a push from humans to try to 'curb the population'. They temporarily banded together against the insistent invasive hunting parties, pushing back enough to stop the attempts, but in the end once the immediate threat was gone, had a few too many... differences in outlook to long term stay together. The girls had bonded strongly in the adversity, and ended up leaving together; the guys meanwhile remained in the original territory, no longer living in the same cave, but branching out into neighboring caves... with one big one tucked way back that they get together in and brumate in during the winter months >v>

Backstory aside!

The guys still absolutely work as a sort of loose team/community. While they hunt on their own, they still have some stronger friendships among some of them, and for larger/broader tasks, agreed on divvying up the duties.

Blue - US Sans, aka, for my version of the guys, now known as Caelum -  is the primary healer/herbalist of the group (alongside his brother), and his other main duty is patrolling their favorite sunning & above grounds hotsprings! He's the only one the others agreed upon trusting to not get as territorial and maintain equal access to the coveted resource; and he takes his duty seriously. Though several of the others see him as one of the softest amongst them, he's got a strong sense of duty... and is just plain strong, period.

When he's not patrolling/guarding their hotsprings/sunning with his brother or, on rarer occasions, with Sable (SF Sans) or Lune (HT Pap), he's setting up traps to hunt or protect wider boundaries of the forest.

This is when he's most likely to come across a human - or when they're most likely to come across him, if they venture just a little too far in. Admittedly, the lamias have all had pretty bad encounters with humans in the past - many of their kind killed off - but he's been one of the ones that held more strongly to 'cruelty is the exception not the rule'... and so, when he comes across a human one day - curled up between the roots of one of the larger trees that tend to mark the point at which you're getting deep...

Well.

He... he can't just do nothing.

With the rustling of the leaves against his body blending in with the breeze that danced among the tree boughs, he slides from tree top to tree top, until he’s curled above the human, blending in well. He listens, soul aching more and more in empathy with each passing second. He knows the risk making himself known might have to himself and his brother and friends, but...

From his pouch, he plucks out an acorn.

You don't register it, at first; the little soft plunk as the seed falls from above, hitting bough, bough, root, root, mossy rock, clover at your feet. Half a minute later... The second one registers, but you're still stuck in the mental mire - breath short, curled up tight on yourself, vision tunneled. Too deep, you know you're too deep, but your heart won't stop beating, you swear you saw something a little bit ago and had to hide - but you were already hiding from what had your breath drawing short, you couldn't go back yet-

You blink when the next one hits you right on the nose.

It takes a minute, the panic hazing your senses, but you focus on the little acorn now nestled in your lap. Slowly, you pick it up-

-is that...

... are there... carvings on the tiny thing...?

The next one that falls lands right in your palm, almost bouncing off before you can react and keep it there - this one, with a simple little smiley face on it.

A beat.

Two beats.

And then you tilt your head back, eyes going up, and up.

There, in the sun dappled leaves, was that... a shocked glimmer of cerulean glow-?

Before you realize what your eyes are catching on, he's slithering back, down-  body coiling around the hefty branches, sturdy and growing for millenia, of course you’d sought shelter against this sort of tree-

-until he's hanging in front of you, tongue flickering out mindlessly as he tastes the air so very close to you, slitted eyelights wide and brilliantly blue with a dusting of magic on his cheeks.

Before you can even think to strangle a scream of surprise, your back already pressed to the trunk of the great tree, a flurry of color blinds you - a flower.

It’s a rare one - at least to humans, who know better to venture into the depths of these forests in search of rarer flora, where monsters roam. It's lovely and delicate, yet sturdy in it’s own way, like it could weather cold weather or heavy rain... and, it just so happens, is your favorite color.

Not that he could have known that.

... Right...?

The flower shakes a little then, waving as if insistently - and your gaze raises, meeting the bright cerulean eyelights of this strange lamia, watching you, intent, curious... nervous...?

No, surely not that-

but... he also clearly wants you to have the flower. You’ve never met a lamia before, no one you know has - no one did, and lived to tell the tale-

-yet, body language was body language, and the gentle, dare you say hopeful look on the face of the creature that every story told you you should be running from right now - surely... there was no other way to interpret this offered flower.

It would be... rude, or perhaps stupid, to refuse a lamia's gift, right?

Well, that's what you tell yourself is your reasoning, anyways, as the hand not holding several (cutely carved) acorns tentatively reaches out, and curls around the stem of the flower.

The next moment, when the skeletal face of the lamia brightens like the dawning of the sun, glimmers of bright blue magic the color of the clearest of afternoon skies, you forget to even notice how your breathing has evened out, and a tension in you has begun to relax.

"TOO LOVELY A DAY TO BE LOST," he announces to your shock, his rich, deep, striking voice not anything you could have expected. There's a strange accent curling it, and a hint of a lamia's hiss to his 's'. He smiles wider then, and he winks. "ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU'RE THE LOVELIEST THING ABOUT IT!"

Your flustering only sends his beaming wider, and before you know it, he's giving you directions and even sliding down to the ground, massive and so very pretty as well as handsome. He seems to hear something in the distance, head turning, and with chagrin he shifts in clear intent to part ways... but not before delicately placing a second, smaller flower into your hair - and a small, smooth shiny stone into your palm. It's slightly warm, and glows softly.

"WARMTH AND LIGHT WARDS OFF THE BAD," he assures you, the tips of his phalanges ghosting over your palm. You wonder if that's electricity in his touch, or just your imagination. "IT'S NOT THE SUN, BUT IT'S GOOD LUCK NONETHELESS!"

He lingers a moment longer, and then... and then, with a small sigh as if he heard something in the distance yet again, he's disappearing once more - up into the boughs of the tree.

You linger, breathing even, but heart... heart still going a little fast.

It's only a minute later, when one last acorn drops onto your shoulder, that you move from staring up into the dappled, great branches of the tree.

You stoop to pluck it up, realizing that the afternoon is getting worryingly long to be dallying within the shadows of the forest...

...and if your heart skips a beat as you walk away, finally following his earlier directions, a safer and more direct route out of the trees than had lead you in...

Well, who else was going to see that little acorn you tucked away with the rest into your pocket- the one carved with a tiny sun, and a little heart on the other side?

A Conveniently Shaped (Heat) Lamp

“SANS, IS THAT A HUMAN?” Papyrus, a skeleton monster, asked his skeleton lamia brother.

“no. issss a heat rock!” Sans slithered up to you, climbing your body until you lifted your hands to help support him. You didn’t want him to fall, even if he had no sense of personal boundaries. You supposed this was what you got for wandering into monster territory.

“THAT IS A RATHER CONVENIENTLY SHAPED HEAT LAMP YOU’VE FOUND, SANS,” said Papyrus drily, “BUT I KNOW A HUMAN WHEN I SEE ONE. WE’VE BEEN LIVING ON THE SURFACE FOR OVER A YEAR NOW, AFTER ALL.”

The lamia waved off the skeleton monster’s scolding. You couldn’t help smiling. Meanwhile, the skeleton lamia slithered past your shoulders and managed to flop into your jacket hood. Unfortunately, the hood was too small to hold him, and he ended up with his torso hanging out over one side and his tail dangling from the other, like an extremely tall man in a comically small bathtub. The skeleton made a grab for the lamia, but the snake monster dodged skillfully without falling out of your hood, an incredible feat considering that he barely moved.

“I APOLOGIZE FOR MY BROTHER,” Papyrus said with a defeated sigh.

“Brother?” you asked. The family resemblance ended at the ribcage, and even then, you had no clue how monster genetics worked or how features differed between related or unrelated skeletons.

“YES. HIS NAME IS SANS. SANS THE LAMIA, AND HE IS RUDE,” declared Papyrus loftily. “I, HOWEVER, AM THE GREAT PAPYRUS, A COMPLETELY NON-RUDE SKELETON!” Papyrus paused, waiting for some sort of reaction, but when you continued to stand there, letting the silence slowly develop a tangible awkwardness, he spoke again. “SINCE MY BROTHER HAS CRAWLED ALL AROUND YOUR PERSON, I AM DUTY BOUND TO INVITE YOU TO DINNER AT OUR HOUSE. WE SHALL FEAST UPON THE PASTA OF CONTRITION!”

“regretti sssspaghetti.” In your peripheral vision, you see Sans’ fangy shit-eating grin. He winks at you. The little guy made a pun! How cute! Papyrus scowls. You attempt to turn his frown upside down with another pun.

“Fangs for the laugh,” you say with a wink back at the lamia in your hood. You hear a croaking noise from Papyrus. Well, you won’t be stopped once you’ve started. “I can’t believe you’d cook noodles with a noodle like this for a brother.”

“SNAKES ARE NOT PASTA!” cries Papyrus, exasperated. “AND IF I HEAR ONE MORE SNAKE PUN I’M GOING TO HAVE A HISSY FIT!”

Your laughter mingles with that of the skeleton brothers, echoing off of the surrounding buildings until it finally fades away, swallowed up by the encroaching night. You follow Papyrus to his house, toting his brother in your jacket hood. Getting lost in this part of town may very well be the best thing that’s ever happened to you.

Lamia ut/us skelebros see u for first time in the forest & u yelp & run. Fearing u would bring more humans, they quickly catch u & knock u out, bringing u to their nest & tying u up. When u wake up, u see them not far away & realize u can't move & cry. U tremble & whimper when they come near u. When they sniff u for threat, u quiver & timidly say, "please don't eat me. I don't want to die." Tears were pouring down ur face & u close ur eyes, fearing for the worst. How skeles react?

I really like this scenario but I hope you don’t mind how I answered for Berry and Pap because I just don’t see those friendly, curious bbys reacting in that exact way.

Undertale

Classic

He’s normally pretty passive about humans but he was worried for his curious brother’s safety.

He didn’t take you all the way back to his nest because he was too lazy didn’t want you to figure out how to get back to it if you escape.

When you wake up he doesn’t understand what you’re saying because he hasn’t learned much human language yet. He does understand the tears though. You’re clearly scared and upset. Now he feels bad.

After he decides you’re not a threat he checks you for any serious injuries, blind folds you, and takes you back to a safe spot. There’s a flower on the ground in front of you after the blindfold is taken off.

Papaya

He wasn’t concerned about you bringing back other humans. He got excited because of his curious nature and chased after you. He didn’t mean to knock you out either. His strength can get away from him when he gets excited.

He panics and takes you back to his nest, healing you while you’re unconscious. He lets you sleep in his bed until you wake.

You’re not tied up when you wake but the situation is still pretty startling. When you get visibly upset he looks sad and tries to comfort you. He tells you in very broken sentences that he’s not gonna hurt you.

After he’s managed to calm you down he escorts you back to where you need/want to be. Along the way he picks a bunch of random flowers he spots and you end up with a little wild flower bouquet before he leaves, waving you goodbye. 

Underswap

Blueberry

Like Papaya, this sweet boy was just excited and gets totally upset and distressed when he realizes he’s knocked you out.

He takes you back to his nest and heals your wounds. While you’re asleep in his bed he prepares some water and makes a flower crown, checking on you constantly. Like every few minutes. It’s kinda unnecessary how often he checks but he’s worried.

You’re not tied up when you wake but he’s instantly in your bubble, checking your wounds and expressing his happiness that you’re okay. When you become visibly upset he looks sad and immediately backs off. He tells you in a broken sentence that it’ll be okay and offers you the flower crown he made.

After he’s made peace with you and you’re calm he escorts you back to where you need/want to be and talks to you the entire time. It’s rather cute.

Stretch

This boy doesn’t trust humans in the slightest and he’s less passive than Classic. This is one of the rare moments that he actually uses his agility because he prefers to just snooze in the trees.

He already knows he didn’t do any fatal damage, so he just takes you to some secluded spot and watches you until you wake up. He’s staring at you with focus when you wake up. It’s a little unsettling.

He starts calmly checking you for any threat and he’s pretty intimidating. When you become visibly upset he just looks confused. He hadn’t done anything mean or hostile, so why are you crying?

He just blindfolds you and sneaks you back to where you belong. He doesn’t want Berry to see you and go exploring in dangerous territory. When he whips the blindfold off he’s already disappeared back into the trees without a trace. There’s a fruit in your hands, left as an apology and he figured you might be hungry.

I feel like this is probably not gonna be the expected reations but it’s what immediately popped into my head.

Underfell

Red

He’s startled, whipping around to face whoever snuck up on him. He’s poised to strike and cuts off mid hiss when he realizes it’s only you.

Now he feels bad for getting hostile with you. Please don’t sneak up on him like that.

Once he’s settled down he wants to know what what you said means. He doesn’t understand a lot of human terms/phrases yet.

When you tell him his entire skull turns red. Red.exe has crashed. Please reboot.

After he’s had a minute he’s gonna test if you’re serious or not because as much as he’d like to just do it lamias mate for life. If you weren’t serious and left him he would be heartbroken. Heartbroken to a point of possibly dusting.

Sneaking up on him isn’t a good idea. His rattle is immediately going off and he almost whipped around and immediately bit you.

He’s relieved that he caught himself but now he’s mad at you for sneaking up on him like that. Are you crazy!? He could’ve killed you!

And what does “bone me daddy” even mean!?

After you explain it’s hard to tell if he’s still mad or just really flustered. He still looks mad but the fluster is steadily taking over.

He snaps at you for being lewd and tells you that if you really want to mate with him you can come back later with a serious, convincing response.

In the process of stopping himself he falls over clumsily and embarrasses himself in front of his potential mate.

He’s double mad at you now. You almost made him bite you AND you made him embarrass himself in front of you.

He’s so flustered and frustrated with you there are small tears gathering at the corners of his eye sockets.

He doesn’t even care what you were trying to say. Maybe give him some space and come back later when you’re ready to be serious.

He bolts to the nearest hiding spot he can find and peeks out at you.

He looks kinda sad. Why did you sneak up on him like that? Were you trying to be mean?

He’s not budging from that spot until you apologize and explain yourself.

When you explain that phrase to him he’s a mixture of excited and skeptical.

You want him to mate you? Really? Are you implying that you see him as your future mate? You are serious right? You know that lamia mate for life. Right? He wants to accept but he doesn’t want to end up heartbroken and alone. He’ll eventually accept after you’ve gained enough trust and have shown that you’re serious and ready to commit.
