Something so evil must’ve been lurking if death was the only option. I think about that often. How many of us have died to get to freedom. How many of us decided they were not gonna take us alive today. They think us terrorists for that, you know? But what is terrorism when Black people die to a barrel in our mouth and the bullet is from the pigs or their followers Or the bullet be more subtle sometimes Like pumping crack into the veins of the ghetto What is terrorism when we are called Terrorists by the ones who perpetuate it? A bad joke at best. Ain’t that how an empire thrives though? Swells with the number of dead bodies then blames us for killing ourselves And asks me some bullshit like, Why am I so hostile? Why don’t I want peace? I tell them, I want peace so bad I carry a knife I ask them, what does it matter if I carry a weapon when everything we stand on is the grave of stolen land kidnapped with a knife at its throat? You cannot tell me You did not see this coming Y’all been killing us for so long we ain’t scared of no silly casket Been stealing from us for so long that we ain’t got shit left Y’all showed us how this shit would end From the first river of red running like sacrifice from us Y’all led this way to this moment It’s terrifying ain’t it? When we step into the human of ourselves When a blow to our jaw is met with a bloody blow back at yours It’s almost like we learned all this shit from you And honey, we are long past some olive branches and a treaty We are long past a concession or some reform or a puppet with our face used to your benefit Tell me Did y’all really believe yourselves to be Gods? Tell me If an empire burns and everyone hears it crumble Did its legacy ever matter by dawn? Did you really believe the sun would refuse to rise when this is all gone? When you are all gone? Are you naive to not believe that we have known the answers this entire time
