Lucius strived for perfection, and although he loved art. But his main passion remained the use of the sword. The remembrancers admired his skill, but the Space Marine knew that it was not the same. They flew like bees from one warrior to another, continuing to create new work one after another. While Lucius continued to hone his fencing skills.

You were one of the many remembrancers on the Pride of the Emperor. Not the most famous and not the most outstanding. You could easily get lost among all the artists, composers and poets. Somehow, you not only managed to meet him in person, but also asked to become his personal remembrancer.

This didn't surprise Lucius at all. He is one of the best, if not the best, among the Emperor's Children. Mortals are obliged to praise him through paintings and poems. But over time, his acceptance of you gave way to confusion, surprise... inspiration.

You didn't just admire his skills, you analyzed them. You watched every movement, trying to catch the best images. Well, when he made special moves, you completely fell silent in pure admiration. This was usually how mortals reacted to a primarch, good music or magnificent architecture. But all your adoration was focused on Lucius's sword.

It was flattering.

In the end, he still asked you why a mortal girl like you were so interested in following the swordsman. You were so small and fragile, you never held a sword in your tiny hands. But smiling, you admitted that your grandfather and father were swordsmen. Therefore, you were given a love for the art of war, although you could not taste it.

Oh, you didn't have to. It is the job of the Space Marines to protect humanity. The Emperor's children were recognized to participate in the most brutal battles, carving a path to a great future with the sword. And you needed to capture this image. And especially the image of Lucius himself. After all, he is the best one.

Over time, you both began to communicate more and more. You told the man about fencing on other worlds, the history of the knights of Ancient Terra. About their duty and oath. Lucius never thought he could become as attached to a mortal as he is to you.

After Laeran, Lucius noticed that he began to enjoy your company even more. With your voice and knowledge about knights and swords. Unexpectedly for him, Lucius was hooked by the part about the role of women in the history of Ancient Terra. Like beautiful maidens wishing farewell to men before the war, they waited for their return. How they showed signs of attention in the form of ribbons on spears... and how knights shed blood with the name of their beloved on their lips.

The Space Marine tried to find a rational explanation for his obsessions, but could not. An attempt to ask the Apothecary about his strange condition was also unsuccessful. Halfway through, Lucius decided to stop and try to deal with these thoughts himself.

And with the way his body reacted. Every time before going to bed, when he thought about knights and ladies, he felt hot. Every time he put himself and you in their place, his throat became dry. But it would be so lovely. You with tears in your eyes, red lips wish him good luck in the war. And your gentle arms give him a ribbon. Or a lock of hair. A kiss.

You didn't seem to have changed. Despite Lucius's obvious patronage, you refused to go to the temple, arguing that you were scared. After all, quite recently dangerous xenos lived there. The Space Marine was just touched by this. That's right, his job is to fight, and your job is to be afraid and seek his protection.

Alas, your connection was broken for some time. Lucius had to fight against his brothers on Isstvan III, to protect the Emperor. He vowed to serve humanity. But the honor of Saul Tarvitz boiled his blood and he succumbed to anger. The mere thought that Tarvitz would be called heroe and Lucius would not be appreciated filled him with burning hatred. And one tiny thought that you would love Saul's skill... no, a lady should only have one knight.

He won't share.

Lucius finds you in your room. You are still as small and vulnerable, hastily wiping away your tears, trying to smile. Oh... the swordsman knew what tears taste like, but for some reason he wanted to lick them. Just the thought that he and ONLY HE evokes such emotions in you...

“I was afraid that you would die,” you gasp and come closer to him. - “I was so scared. It's horrifying. Everyone seems to have gone mad and only a few remembrancers like me are holding on. I was so sad and lonely, I-I thought”

“Kiss,” the man said in a heavy voice. Noticing your blank look, he swallowed. How beautiful. - “Kiss my sword. I killed my brothers with you in mind. Am I not worthy of attention from my lady?”

Your eyes filled with tears again and your lips trembled. And yet Lucius smelled... a strange smell from you. He couldn’t explain why, but he knew for sure that you yourself liked these new feelings. Eating and swallowing. Such delicious fear. And the fact that only the swordsman can see this... was an excitement.

Lucius carefully watches as you approach the outstretched sword. You don't even have to tilt your head. Your reflection sparkles exquisitely in the blade of the weapon and Lucius gasps as he sees your lips touch his sword. He desperately wants to plunge the blade into you, but he holds back.

After all, he must protect his lady.

So reader is a demon who takes the form of Amy Rose and she gets along with his puppets (Soul Tails, Knuckles and Eggman.) like they’re all friends with Reader and surprisingly she’s also best friends with Fleetway Sonic which is how Xeno and Reader met each other. Fleetway and Reader were just hanging out together one day and Xeno just popped in to annoy Fleetway but ended seeing Reader and him hanging out together.

- Honestly in all your time of being a demon you never thought you would see this kind of shit. You see you're a demon who has taken the form of a classic Sonic fangirl Amy Rose with some changes to her appearance. You're no different from other demons that exist, you use your powers to do some things to people nothing more nothing less. You never thought you’d met someone similar to you or at least have had the same sort of goals as you. Well that changed when you met a certain yellow hedgehog. Fleetway.

- When the two of you first met honestly he kind of caught you off guard, he kind of looked like sonic in his super form just crazy. Same for him although you don’t look exactly like her you sort of reminded him of Amy and he wasn’t sure about it.

+ “Who are you? What the hell are you doing here?” The spiraled eyed hedgehog questioned you almost getting in your face almost using it as a scaring tactic but at the same time there was some confusion yet curiosity to it. However, you were completely unfazed with his attempt to scare you. In fact it kind of annoyed you due to how close he was to you practically in your personal bubble. You placed a hand on his face moving him back easily before speaking up “Have you ever heard of personal space? Anyways if you would like to know my name is [Name], who are you?” The hedgehog gave off a slight smirk as you spoke “[Name] huh? Guess it suits you for a lady like you.” Fleetway let off a slight chuckle as he said that before receiving a slight glare from you due to him not answering your question “I asked you a question and I would really appreciate it if you answered it!” “Oh I can already tell I’m going to like you” Another chuckle escaped his mouth before finally answering “You can call me Fleetway” he jokingly placed his hand in front of you like he wanted you to shake his hand. You looked down at his hand before shaking it in return.

- That’s how the two of you met and eventually and somehow became friends. You know when you have that one friend who you constantly question why the two of you are friends? That’s basically the dynamic between the two of you. He likes to rope you into shit and for some reason you don’t question it, even if you did he somehow convinces you to go along with it. But you don’t mind it, you can even say that you might consider him a friend. A close friend. Little did you know he had more friends. Well I say ‘friends’ because honestly he finds some of them in his terms ‘nuisances’ but nonetheless he knows them and you are about to meet one of them.

- One day Fleetway invited you over and of course you couldn’t say no so you immediately arrived at his place. You two were hanging out minding your business when the door immediately opened causing both you and him to turn your heads to see who did that. You could hear an annoyed sigh coming from Fleetway as you were faced with a tall ass hedgehog. He had some sort of resemblance to Sonic only different, his fur was purple, his eyes were clearly different, he had crystal-like things coming out of his quills and not to mention an X forming across his chest with some dried up blood on his gloves. He had a sly grin on his face as he spotted Fleetway not taking notice of you just yet.

+ “Hello Fleetway!” He said, his tone clearly indicating wanting to disturb his silence “The hell you want Xeno? Can’t you see I’m busy with someone?” He shot back pointing a finger at you who was currently taking in every single feature of Xeno. The smirk dropped from Xeno’s face which now turned to confusion. He moved his eyes from where it currently was to where Fleetway was pointing to. His eyes immediately took notice of you, seeing how similar yet different you looked to Amy he couldn’t help but be slightly interested in you. “Who the hell is she?” He spoke up wondering who you were and why the hell you were hanging out with Fleetway? “This is [Name]! They’re a close friend of mine” He said proudly smirking at Xeno, showing you off like a prize. “Wow, you have friends Fleetway?” Xeno teased back, chuckling to himself “The hell is that supposed to mean?” Fleetway said, offended by what Xeno said and was only made worse when he heard you chuckle as well “Hey! Don’t encourage him!” Fleetway playful punched you in the shoulder. Seeing how you joined in with his teasing, Xeno couldn’t help but smirk to himself.

- From that day on Xeno couldn’t help but wanting to get closer towards you, maybe even becoming your friend as well. He somehow manages to find a way to hang out with you when you aren’t around Fleetway and decides to ask you some questions about you. Like what you were and what powers you had to which you happily answered them, happy that someone was interested in what you were, this caused Xeno to be pulled closer towards you. This is how the two of you became friends.

- You two get along really well, due to the two of you having somewhat similar goals. Sometimes when he is busy torturing or whatever he does with his victims he might ask you to join just to add some spice to the experience. You two also hang outside of those things, just using that time to catch up with each other and what you two did.

- Due to the constant affiliation with Xeno you got to know his puppets which consists of a dead version of Tails, Knuckles and Eggman. Surprisingly the four of you get along. Well, they only get along with you due to them being aware of who you are and of your powers and strengths as well as you being friends with their tormentor. Beside those reasons they genuinely do get along with you. Mostly Tails and Knuckles in a way due to them thinking and sometimes even confusing you for their friend only to be slightly disappointed and reminded that you aren’t her. Eggman also sometimes confuses you for Amy but he can actually distinguish the difference between you and her. But despite this when they aren’t being forced to do things by Xeno, when you come visit them they find genuine relief when they see you and sometimes when you tell them the things you experienced.

- When xeno sees you interact with them he really appreciates the four of you getting along. Even if he knows they are mostly doing it because of him and they don’t want to face the repercussions of not getting along with you, still he appreciates it.

Ohohoho, ohohoho dear sweet anon, my main sona atm IS a kaiju lady. LIKE not a godzilla franchise oc specifically but she is very much inspired by both monsterverse/millennium godzilla, monsterverse ghidorah and a bit of manda too! (we LOVE manda in this house i WILL fight you over manda) Cause like i didnt have a chance to talk abt it on this blog just yet but i happen to be a dragon/kaiju vtuber

She has a more humanoid form I use for model (she's very 'Luca' sea-monster like in her human-like casual form! human like body type and human proportioned face (she doesnt have an anthro face) but covered in scales, reptile nosestrils and all that, she's barely 5'5 in that form! (here's the model of her i commissioned from my friend flyingfrappuccino, rigged by my OTHER friend magi i am BEGGING you to order from them i'm so glad i handed Lazu's reference to these two)

whereas her full on kaiju form is 150-ish ft long and she's a mix of monsterverse goji for the dorsal plates, monsterverse ghidorah for the horns, millennium godzilla for the shape of her face/jaw, and manda-like water dragon features all over. her wings are more inspired by monster hunter wyverns such as the rath family and she's got a bit of xeno/safi'jiiva elements thrown in, and she's got features from large theropods such as spinosaurus for the tail fluke she's got! She's primarily bipedal (like most kaiju suits, she kinda has the same body language as late heisei/early millennium suitmation monsters!)

BUT UH YEAH miss Lazu real and ik im probably run a test stream as her tomorrow so you'll get to see her in action :V be there (heres the acct and the twitter for her) be square (and feel free to bring your interests w you to talk abt bc thats likely to be a just chatting stream, i WILL go on rants and go completely insane. bet.)

Writing/Art Update 12/3/2021

I did not finish the fanfic. I have one and a half scenes left.

What happened was this: I had a pretty rough, emotional week generally (I had a family funeral to go to and it was just a lot of feelings floating around on many fronts). I was working pretty diligently, if inefficiently on the fic, up until the point that I had one scene left to do. I went to pick up my kid from school, and on the way home, in the car, it occurred to me that I really needed one more scene, not because I wanted it, but just for... closure...purposes. I have described this dumb things as Xeno’s fanfic multiple times, because no matter how much I work on it, the end it still out of reach. In any case, I was one scene from done, and now I was two, and my brain just said “go to Hell, polynya” and all of the motivation just dropped straight out of my body. So, I worked on my Christmas lights today instead of writing anything.

SIGH. Hopefully, I will finish it up this weekend, and surely next week if not. It still has to go to my beta after that before I can post it (she’s read everything except the last chapter, but I need her reassurance that I haven’t accidentally left some dangling plot thread that I need to go back and finish in Ch 3 or something).

So, anyway. SOON. In the meantime, if you need to catch up on/re-read your favorite bits of Heart is Muscle, now might be a good time? It’s not required reading, but...why not?

Also, did you see the bee-yoo-ti-ful coloring job @iz-star did on my sketch? It’s actually secretly part of a spoilery illustration for the fic (unfortunately, it’s for near the very end, so it will be a while)

I will stop doing excerpts once I’m posting the fic in earnest (I am planning to do one chapter per week unless someone convinces me otherwise), so hopefully this bit from Chapter 7, in which Ginrei invites Renji to a Kuchiki family dinner party and everyone has to deal with it, will be the last one. 

“I just wish you had given me a little notice, it’s common courtesy,” Fifth Seat Kuchiki Takehiko griped for the fourth time as he, Renji and Choei made their way up the winding front walk of Kuchiki Manor.

“I’m telling you, I only got invited an hour ago!” Renji protested.

“And if you had told me then, I probably would have had time to send a message to my Honored Mother. She’s going to be furious.”

“Captain says she’s a big fan of mine.”

Takehiko made a long-suffering eyeroll. Renji wasn’t sure if it was directed at him, or Lady Azami, or possibly even Byakuya. “Whether my mother likes someone or dislikes them is immaterial. She simply wishes the events of the world to proceed in a manner that she believes to be correct. There is no room in her philosophy for surprise dinner guests.”

“I just want to know why we had to be so early,” Choei grumbled.

“Captain said to be here by six!” Renji protested. “It’s five of, we’re perfectly on time!”

“Surely, he said come at six,” Takehiko correctly, “which usually means to arrive in the vicinity of and certainly no earlier than six. If you are Choei, it means ‘roll in at eight, just in time for dessert.’”

“You don’t like getting lectured by your mom, I don’t like getting lectured by my mom. We are on the same page here, we just have different methods,” Choei sniffed.

Renji wondered what it would be like to have cousins. It seemed kinda fun.

“At least you look respectable for once. Was that your doing, Vice Captain? Well done, if so.” Takehiko gave Renji a brief once-over. “You don’t look half-bad yourself. Might go a little lighter on the eye make-up next time, but that’s a handsome kimono.”

“Thank you, Kuchiki,” Renji puffed out his chest, and made a mental note to thank Rukia for insisting that he buy two nice kimono. This one was a dark bluish-grey, dyed in some clever way to leave a pattern of lighter vertical wavy lines. Rukia said they were steam clouds, meant to symbolize rising above one’s circumstances. Renji was just glad it didn’t have carp on it, like three others she tried to put him in. 

“Wait a second!” Choei exclaimed. “Is that why you showed up at my place and asked me a bunch of questions about obi knots? That was a distraction?! I was gonna gel up a pompadour and you made me forget!”

“I am just a simple man who goes to very few dinner parties,” Renji replied innocently. “Speaking of obi, I kicked that hideous orange one you were gonna wear under your couch, in case you’re looking for it later.”

“Betrayal!” Choei wailed. “Treachery!” 

“I hope you now see the problem with arriving early,” Takehiko gave Renji a steely look. “We’re forced to admit that we brought him.”

Dark Heresy: The Finale

The Warp journey was over, and we came to a cold planetoid of grey ash and ice. We were sent to the surface to a psychic hotspot the imperial Diviner identified while the Inquisitor's ship, the Lance of Minerva, engaged with the Eldar ships in orbit.

Landing on this dark, snowy, Pluto-like planetoid, the Party, Walrond, and three Honor Guard the Inquisitor was supplementing us with sped off in our refurbished and repainted landspeeder towards a tall spooky tower of bone and metal and oddness. We engaged a few Eldar jetbikes and a light speeder thing, relying almost entirely on Sebrius' mounted heavy bolter and the assault cannon inside the speeder. (I used my autopistol to slightly annoy them, and did a grand total of one damage that entire engagement.) Dodgy but fragile, the most notable part of this fight was when the last Eldar bike decided to charge and melee us with his power weapon. This was actually really effective, as it utterly smashed the barrel of our assault cannon, though it didn't stop Sebrius from blasting his engines then Walrond ramming his frail little Eldar bike so bad it crashed and burned.

Wrapping that up, we drove up to the creepy door of the smooth citadel (imagine creepy smooth-stone aesthetic, peppered with Old Gods in the air) and got out, leaving two of the NPC and Walrond (our friendly driver) behind to guard the car and the doorway, while we went in with one of the NPC guard of the Inquisitor. Descending into this den of warp magic and witches, who do we find but the Eldar spiritseer and her Wraithblade of a father, who had previously smashed up that noble's mansion and almost cut Sebrius in half. After a brief discussion where she lamented roughly 'of course you'd come to ruin this, our last chance to save our world and our selves, you monkeigh ruin everything you touch, just go away let us fix this' to our general disinterest. How very Eldar, to think only you can fix things, that anyone ever doing anything that bothers you is dooming all life, and that you're entitled to run around smashing things just because your dad really shouldn't be an art piece in some rich idiot's mansion. Sebrius and Reguba dismissed her pleas, and high fived after commenting that the creepy, inhuman chanting we could hear coming from the chamber behind her was way less cool sounding than Ecclesiarchy psalms. Seeing that there was little chance of deterring us, and also because she didn't really want to try to explain anything in the first place (xenos witch and all), we began the Great Rematch!

The experience against the creatures of the Warp changed us, and gave us valuable experience. Unwilling to be caught alone, Reguba, the Honor Guard, and Sebrius stuck near each other. Ok, Reguba tried. The Honor Guard was from Manoj, a feral world, and so had a delightfully martial mindset. He charged the wraithblade head-on, it blocked his power sword, and then cut him in half. This was a sufficient distraction however, as Dariel started to slink around the great pillars of stone to try to get at the Spiritseer, while Reguba and Sebrius tried to handle the Wraithblade. With it overconfident from having effortlessly slaughtered the Honor Guard, it didn't expect Reguba to walk up to it cautiously, then slam into its leg six different times with a warhammer as hard as he possibly could. This rattled stunned and crit the Wraithblade to the point it fell to the floor, while Dariel and the Spiritseer engaged in a duel of the lithe and athletic variety. Two nimble and graceful duelists, except one was a slightly psychotic twink with an insanely serrated dagger and one was a severely psychic alien lady with horrible PTSD. With the blessings of the Emperor (and Reguba burning off part of his soul in devout prayer), her xenos witchery failed to implode Dariel's face. She also cast some witchery to explode the air between Sebrius and Reguba, but again the prayers of the faithful prevented any serious wounds (I lost even more fate, but The Emperor Protects)

Knowing from our last encounter that she's an annoying ice lady who makes ice walls, throws ice at us, and does other Psyker things, Sebrius came with a secret weapon. Seeing the spiritseer Jaii Zan engaged in melee and the Wraithblade lying on the ground brutally hammered, Sebrius threw a psyk-out grenade, a powerful weapon tailored to drive those sensitive to the warp into helpless writhing on the floor in a cloud of psychoactive dust. Jaii Zan foresaw this and dodged, but she failed to account for Dariel using his manly physique to just barely manage to shove her into the cloud. This greatly stressed out her mind and had her trigger psychic phenomenona, which is a random roll. She rolled (i forget but it was over 75), so she triggered Perils of the Warp, another random roll table of bad effects. She then rolled a 94, and got the result Lost to the Warp. This instantly teleported her to an unknown location deep in the warp, and far from us. The grenade seemingly disintegrating her was a sudden resolution to the eldar witch situation we had, and so we then clubbed the Wraithblade to death while it was lying on the ground with a broken leg. Briefly mourning the bisected Honor Guard (we never even got his name), Reguba took up his Power Sword, judging whatever came next would need the strength of the power field.

Proceeding deeper in towards the creepy chanting we heard, we entered a large cavern. Reddus did a brilliant job setting the vibe of the whole session, but entering this cavern my mind's eye had the room as concrete as any video game final boss room I've experienced. The ceiling was a swirl of the warp, and at a slight incline below us a half dozen eldar in flowing robes danced and flowed with the rhythm of the warp around a great statue of blue crystal, of metal, of gems and shiny things. It was humanoid, but very much not, no more than it was Eldar. This ritual centerpiece was what was taken from the Inquisitorial Vault, and to see such a locus of Aether and the Warp strained our sanity. Luckily, Sebrius is a grounded fellow, and with almost Orklike determination he rallied us to focus on the material, the mortal, these xenos thieves. Reguba quickly distributed grenades to Dariel and Sebrius, and together they threw fiery death at this coven of sorcery. The eldar were blown apart and their corpses set aflame by the incendiary Sebrius was given, but our triumphant disruption had consequences. The flames burned blue, and dark laughter shook through the cavern as our ears rang from the explosions. The crystalline statue shifted and moved, and it thanked us for our effort in a voice with a timbre that mocked our souls. It raised its arms, and so both into the flames and from the flames daemons of the warp came into being, two pink horrors and a Flamer of Tzeentch.

Dariel began shooting at this Crystal-thing, but Zzoq'Qaz The Knower of Many Things is not one to actually be damaged by someone shooting at him with a pistol from like fifty meters away. The Flamer came close and at an angle to spread its warpflame against all three of us, but we were ready to dodge and drop. The pink horrors closed while throwing flame, and Zzoq'Qaz stood on the pedestal cackling. Reguba lifted the power sword, darted up to the Flamer, and in a flurry of blows hacked it to flaming dust and ash through righteous fury and rage. Sebrius closed himself and blasted away with his shotgun, and Dariel continued firing at the great Daemon as it watched us. Seeing the Flamer go down so quickly, he descended the pedestal and actually entered the fight, aiming to use his crystal body and Tzeentch staff to set us alight and also beat us to death with Change. Spellcraft again fizzed, as the warp here was in too massive flux, with one of the Horrors also poofing out of existence. As he was a massive crystal-thing and had a staff, he had tremendous melee range, but the powerfield of the sword parried it without being turned into a frog. Reguba then swung his new blade as many times as he could, and the shotgun'd and sliced pink horror split into two blue horrors, who themselves quickly became little brimstone horrors as they too were slashed in half. Sebrius had a clear unobstructed shot, point blank, against a giant crystalline statue. He blasted the absolute hell out of it with a powerful shotgun, and it shattered, with the laughter of Daemonic disbelief flying against the walls, amazed at how quickly it happened.

Feeling this flaming cave of dead eldar and warp-stuff was a bad place to linger, we quickly left, bringing the body of the honor guard to the Landspeeder and calling the Inquisitor to let her know we messed up a horrible eldar ritual and then banished the Daemons who appeared as a result of said mucked ritual. Inquisitor Shiva had wrapped up the orbital Eldar presence via a well executed ramming maneuver into their prow, which is perfectly in keeping with her straightfoward and physical methods. In the final debrief, we discussed what the Eldar might have aimed to do, with only the scattered memories of the Supplicator and the barely understood riddles of the Spiritseer (and the even harder to comprehend bragging of the Tzeentchian herald) to guide us. Piecing it together, mostly through spiritseer Jaii Zan's ranting about her father, we came to guess that their craftworld was deeply cursed. This was an attempt to displace the curse onto the human worlds of Byzanaar, justifying our actions against these Eldar entirely.

Just another wonderful campaign in the Untellatian sector, and the Emperor's Holy Inquisition!
