INTRODUCTION

1. Can you introduce yourself? 

- Though it should be rather obvious by now, I’m Valeria Hamdell Travelyan, though my mother doesn’t deserve the honour of her last name being included in mine, Inquisitor of the Reformed Inquisition and Herald of our Lady Redeemer.

2. What is your gender identity, orientation and relationship status?

- I’m a woman attracted solely to men. Not that that was something viable in the Circle sometimes, but it’s what it is. And as for the relationship, how did that gossip page put it? (her brow furrows in amusement as she tries to remember.) Skyhold’s favourite Qunari mercenary isn’t romanci-bull by you.

3. Where and when were you born?

- Ostwick, 9:15 Dragon.

4. What is your weapon of choice and fighting style?

- I won’t even answer that.

5. Lastly, are you happy? 

- Yes. Maker be praised, at long last, yes.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS

1. What’s your family like? What is your relationship with them?

- As far as I’m concerned, for most of them, especially mother dearest and my Templar brother, I spawned from the Fade just to torture their good family name.

2. Have you ever ran away from home?

- Home is an abstract term for me. I have run away from where people thought my home should be, though.

3. Would you consider marriage or having children?

- Seeing as I’m organising my own wedding, yes, I would consider marriage. Children, though... Imagine how loathed a half-Qunari potentially mage child would be. (she reaches for a goblet of wine with the lacking arm, only to pull back and frown slightly.) I don’t know.

4. Do you secretly hate one of your friends?

- A question back: why is this question here? Of course not.

5. Which friend knows everything about you?

- Leliana. I’m fairly certain she knows when I’ll take my next breath.

ASKED BY FANS

1. Are you literate? Have you been to school? 

- I’ve spent 17 years of my life in the Circle. I’ll shit on it till I’m dead, but it’s at least given me a very good education. A deadly one too, if required. My handwriting may be a little ugly since losing an arm, but I can read and write.

2. The eeriest prediction you made that later came true?

- That the Maker isn’t done with us yet. With me. And He wasn’t.

3. What is something you were embarrassingly late to realize?

- A lot of things I don’t quite care to disclose. Being caged in a Circle doesn’t quite lend itself to learning a lot about the outside world. (her voice sounds rough and lightly annoyed. at you, circle or herself, you don’t know.)

4. Do you have mental health or physical issues?

- Obviously. (it takes her a while to answer, but you can feel the unwilling honesty in it.)

5. What is your current main goal?

- Find Solas and redeem him. Persuade him. I don’t know. I don’t want just a few more years in peace.

1. Drink or food?

- Both? In combination?

2. Cats or dogs?  

- Neither. I don’t really like animals. Only from a distance.

3. Optimist or pessimist?

- More optimistic, I’d say.

4. Sassy or sarcastic?

- Depends on what I’m feeling like at the moment, but generally, I’m not passive-aggressive. I’m simply aggressive.

HAVE YOU EVER

1. Been caught sneaking out?  

- If I had, I’d have lash marks on my back or a Tranquil mark on my forehead. But I didn’t like the risk chances of sneaking out in the Circle after a certain incident.

2. Broken a bone?

- Unfortunately. Not everything I come in contact with is friendly.

3. Received flowers?

- I don’t think so? I don’t even know what someone would give me if they’re giving flowers. That’s an idea. Bull is good at figuring out those things. Ask him.

4. Ghosted someone?

- If there’s a will, there’s a way. Letters can take months to arrive sometimes, but that’s not exactly ghosting.

5. Pretended to laugh at a joke you didn’t get?

- If you’re not funny, you’re not funny. I don’t get the need most of the time. That being said, you sometimes have to pretend to laugh at apprentice jokes. Most of them are children who don’t really deserve to not be acknowledged like that, especially as world at large will do that.

As some of you may know, I play Dragon Age beside Guild Wars and the OCs I make there hold as much meaning to me as GW ones do

One of them holds a rather special place in my heart and that is my Inquisitor, Valeria Travelyan

And I've been thinking, I was worried I had copied Nyra when making her but in truth, Val is closer to El than she is to Nyra even if Nyra and El serve as contrast characters in a way

Val is angry at the system that imprisoned her for magic, whereas El is a fire child that has a lot of issues from a more inward source, but still!!! I wouldn't want them to meet!! One is enough!!

And it makes me wanna have a cameo of her in GW, a background character that is there for my soul only cause if I tried converting her to GW in her entirety, it wouldn't do the DA!Val justice cause of the ways two fictional worlds operate

Evie Travelyan is an optimistic young woman raised to seek out those in need and offer faith and compassion. Though proud of her house she doesn't boast about her noble birth or consider herself above any other soul in Thedas. We are all the Maker's children, after all.

Solas thinks she's silly and would rather tell his stories to Lavellan but he broke up with her and ran off to destroy the world so now he's stuck with this cheeky Lady.

At least Cullen gets to get married this round. Evie would happily raise a dog with him.

Basically Thedas's Captain America, only a bit smoldery. Nickname: The Spicy Choirboy. Varric says it’s because he reminds him of someone from his Kirkwall days, but won’t say who. On good terms with his family in Ostwick, who are unashamed that he is a mage and paid off the Circle to treat him well. He was even allowed brief visits home on occasion. He knows that he was more privileged than many Circle mages and admits that it has made him more forgiving of the Circle than he might otherwise be.

Wears black formalwear around Skyhold because he's just a little vain and he knows he looks good in it. 

Max was initially very attracted to Dorian, but he's still processing what that actually means since he's theoretically straight and has never had that reaction to another man before. Dorian obviously figured out that Max had a crush on him and is flattered, but when all is said and done, thinks it's for the best that they remain platonically friendly colleagues. After brooding over that for a while, Max eventually approached Cassandra and they found that they have a genuine connection founded in trust and faith.

Max is genuinely not threatened by basically dating The Pope, and thinks it feels oddly natural somehow. He also thinks that all the decorum when they’re in public togther makes their nights in private a lot more fun. 

He is generally pretty moderate on mage issues-- he knows that Circles were rife with abuse and that reform is absolutely necessary, but he also staunchly believes that all mages need some kind of formal training and oversight. He is open to discussion how that might look and using his reputation as The Inquisitor to influence the new system.

Max uses a fairly traditional yet balanced arsenal of elemental attacks, but doesn’t mind a little melee as long as he’s not hemmed in. His magic showed itself rather late, and as a result he never felt that he was a mage of exceptional talent, but with some of the best tutors that influence can buy and private lessons with Lady Vivienne, he feels more confident now. He has nightmares about darkspawn, though, and spent the entirety of his trip in the Deep Roads trying to stave off panic attacks. 

Is more savvy to The Game and how power works than most others because of his familial connections. He is genuinely interested in politics, human and ottherwise, and would have been a proper courtier had his magic not manifested. He was as quite in his element at Halamshiral. Quite pragmatic. A great dancer. 

Genuinely tries to respect other peoples' religious beliefs even though he's very devoutly Andrastian himself. 

Prefers black tea to coffee, and has a bit of a sweet tooth. Loves getting drinks with Varric, is one of the few people Vivienne genuinely likes spending time with. Sera dislikes him personally, but stays because she acknowledges he is actually trying to do right by the little people.

Could never stand Solas, but did his best to separate his personal feelings from the needs of the Inquisition. Realized far too late that he’d felt something was wrong all along. Post-Trespasser, he is going to take out Solas because he thinks it's the right thing to do.

             “ Thank you for agreeing to meet with me, Lady Travelyan. I know you must be a busy woman these days. ”

He had arrived at Haven in the morning, a little while after dawn, with a small retinue. 

Little was generally known about Odin mac Bor’s second son, save that he had been his father’s greatest shame --- too willful for a noble girl, too effeminate for a son of Odin’s line. And when he had been sent to the Circle almost twenty years ago, his father had been all too happy to strike his name from the family roster --- though his mother had quite diligently kept her husband’s vitriol in check while in the company of their peers. 

That should have been the end of Loki, as far as Thedas was concerned.  But sometime in the last several years, a man fitting the description of Odin’s ill-favoured child had been dragged out of the forest, wearing vallaslin and claiming membership of a Dalish clan. That he was dragged out by Odin’s elder son, a Templar, on the orders of the man himself, lent some credence to the idea that this was, in fact, Loki --- and not some unlucky elf-blooded apostate caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.

And today that same apostate had come to Haven. There had been little reason to doubt the veracity of his claims ;  he fit the old descriptions of the second son to the letter --- down to the keenness of his gaze and the sallow sickliness of his countenance --- and his green velvet cloak was clasped with the crest of his house, and his retinue wore its livery. And he looked for all the world like he had stepped out of a different story ... one in which he had not been born a mage. 

The first thing he had done, even as he dismounted his horse, was to ask to see the Herald of Andraste. And then he had introduced himself, and asked again --- a demand in all but phrasing. 

And now he stands before her, a contradiction from head to toe. His ears are not long or pointed enough that he could ever be mistaken for fully Elven, and yet his vallaslin are as clear and detailed as any that the Dalish wear ;  if this man is who he says he is, he is a mage, and yet he wears daggers and armour more befitting a Dalish hunter than the lighter wear favoured by mages ;  and despite the circumstances under which he had been drawn from obscurity, he moves and speaks with grace more befitting a prince than food for a Templar’s sword.

isaac travelyan 2.0 is almost definitely not gonna be my canon inquisitor, but personality wise...he might be pretty interesting? to me? like this dude is a combination of Garett Hawke and Alistair, he’s got that chaotic dumbass bisexual energy,  it’s the himbo vibe. he drinks loving partner juice and respecting women juice all day every day--the juice is where he gets all that muscles from. 

like, both of my male inquisitors are bi, but finley lavellan didnt have a single crush on inquisition ladies--ok except for josephine, when josie greeted him in elvhen im not gonna lie she got him for a sec there (cause my heart faltered and i had a small crush on her for a sec there and i projected this on finley), and finley always has a lot of respect for her and he always got a soft spot for her too. On the other hand, my dude isaac has a crush on like, every single ladies at skyfold (except for sera...and not so much on josephine but he likes and respects her a lot tho...he, however, has a crush on leliana lmao). Isaac has a crush on cassandra and you’d THINK that he’d get together with cassandra, but no...At the beginning of the game cass was a bit understandably grumpy from not liking you all that much and losing her boyfriend at the time, and if isaac see a woman he flirts with showing any sign of discomfort with his advance, he gonna apologize for 5 times in a row and backs the fuck off immediately (this dude still somehow got two girlfriends before inquisition tho). so he flirted with cass once and cass wasn’t super enthusiastic so he backsedoff and never revisit the topic ever again (lmao), meanwhile....dorian straight up drop the “you’re rather strapping” shit on him and isaac.exe crushed cause no men has straight up flirted with him before and he never had any experienced with a mage before either (can we get a f for isaac) but isaac did have a crush on dorian-- dorian is just a bit intimidating to him and he thinks dorian is out of his league (but hes not!), so now that he knew his crush MIGHT reciprocate, isaac was out here losing his entire mind but he acts cool about it. so thats how isaac ends up with dorian instead of cassandra. 

i also envision my pavelyan to be different than pavellan tho, with finley, dorian is the one that’s wholeheartedly devoted (finley loves him just as much but there was a period of denial on his part for obvious reasons and their relationship is a bit more turbulent too...for obvious reasons). Isaac, however, is the one that’s more devoted to dorian. isaac is a good boyfriend, he’s out here drinking loving boyfriend (dorian) juice all day every day, sometimes he teases dorian by calling him “m’lord”, does corny things like greeting dorian in the morning with a “how’s my sweet prince doing today” with a peck on the cheek or some shit. but also did i mention he has dumbass energy? yeah he is a warrior and he genuinely thought drinking some lyrium would help him to protect mages (dorian) better, so now he’s got a bit of lyrium addiction (which might be interesting to write abt for post-trespasser timeline), but aside from that isaac is just a simple man who wanna marry someone he loves.

Is there a ship you didn’t like at first but ultimately started shipping? Anything with Blackwall. I just did NOT like him and didn’t understand romancing him, but once I gave it a shot my heart quickly realized I had been wrong.  Really sweet, passionate romance.  Good stuff <3

What is the rarest rare pair (that you ship)? Hmmmmmm.... I mean I tend to ship most main things, but I guess uhhh... you know what I’m gonna go with Cullen/Surana.   I wanted them to have a  fling soooo badddddd

Name a popular ship you don’t get the appeal of. Um, hm. I get the appeal of most ships but uhhh... Ah okay I don’t really get Solas with Travelyan.  Like all the more power to people who love it but it’s just not as appealing as Lavellan to me. 

What is your most fluffy + happy ship? Cullavellan and anything with Josephine. My angel babiesssss! <333

What is the first ship you had? FUNNILY ENOUGH I originally shipped my Lavellan with Varric LOL before I found out that you couldn’t romance him.  I was so sad lmao, but then i was like, eh i’ll give solas a try.  The rest is history

Is there a ship that made you realise something about yourself? I hate to be a broken record here, but Solavellan. It made me realize how much intellect and conversation matter to me.  I’m such a curious person so being able to hear so many stories and such made me research more about the universe, and without this ship I don’t think I would have spent as much time with the fandom. 

Is there a type of ship you always go for? I love elves so much I love them and i LOVE BROODY PEOPLE SO MUCH LIKE WOW GIVE ME THAT ANGST PLS

Is there a ship the writers have ruined for you? The sera romance.  Gah sorry everyone who loves the ship, I want to but sera just... never feels real to me.  I do love her but her writing is not my favorite.  

Is there a ship the fandom has ruined for you? Yes actually, Fenders. I still like the ship enough, but the fandom can argue so much about it i’m like nahhhhh 

Have you ever created fan created content for a ship? I’ve written fanfiction and done fanart for both Solavellan and Fenhawke. 

Favourite thing you’ve ever created for a ship? I like my solavellan fic, it’s short and sweet but it’s close to my heart.
