The young goetia seemed beside himself in confusion. What had he done to deserve this? Why did she offer her help so willingly? Would she not worry about her secret being revealed? What if this put them both in danger? How did she know she could even help?
He finally stood and planted his hands on the table to push himself up the rest of the way, the cane he had resting there falling to the floor. "I do not understand!"
The shocked boy shook his head. "How... can you keep doing this? For me? For anyone? How? How? How? How? How? How? How? How?"
Purpose. It was purpose.
His protests gave way another bleary shake of the head. She made her own purpose. "Do you... believe it is possible for me to choose my own path?" The very concept seemed almost alien.
"I don't do this for repayment, my friend" Phenix replied, her eyes warm still, "there's already too much quid pro quo in this world. I have no desire to add to that. I do this to help those that need it. The system we inhabit is wrong, unfairly rigged against the least fortunate of us. We must take care of our own" she proclaimed with a deep conviction, "because if we cant...who will in the end? Don't we as the superior ones have a responsibility to those who are beneath us? Leaders belong to their people not themselves".
Perhaps it was a repeated point, but this was important to Phenix. She felt it was her responsibility to look out for the so called "least of these". It defied demonic nature perhaps, but if it meant keeping innocent hellborn safe, she would do it. Phenix was more than ready to lay down her life for her Ravens if her efforts were to be discovered or declared illegal.

Striker accepted the envelope with a firm nod, securing it inside the inner pocket of his jacket.
As he met her gaze, a flicker of something deeper stirred within him. Was he doing this purely out of duty, or was there something more driving him? The thought unsettled him, but he pushed it aside for now.
"I will deliver this letter to Prince Stolas as quickly as possible. In the meantime, stay strong and hold onto that hope. We'll get through this together."
He took a deep breath, feeling the weight of responsibility mixed with an unfamiliar warmth.
"I'll leave at once. I'll be back before you know it. Until then, trust in the plan and keep yourself safe."
Striker gave her hand a gentle squeeze, lingering a moment longer than necessary. As he turned to leave the library, he couldn't shake the feeling that his motives were evolving. With one last determined glance at Phenix, he stepped out of the room, ready to embark on the mission that would hopefully bring an end to her suffering.
///////////////////////////////////////////////
Striker reached the stables without hurry, carefully masking his urgency to avoid arousing suspicion. The cool morning air filled his lungs as he approached the stable, the scent of hay and horses calming his racing thoughts.
He found his second in command, Sergeant Thorne, tending to one of the horses.
"Thorne."
He called.
"I need you to oversee the palace while I'm away. I'll be delivering a letter to my mother at the post office in Pentagram City. Her telephone is broken, so this is the quickest way to ensure it reaches her."
Thorne looked up, his brow furrowing in concern.
"How long will you be gone, Captain?"
"Not long."
Striker reassured him, patting the neck of his horse as it was saddled.
"Just a quick trip there and back. I trust you to keep everything in order while I'm away."
Thorne nodded, accepting the responsibility without question.
"Understood, Captain. Safe travels."
With a final nod, Striker mounted his horse and set off at a measured pace. He had to maintain the appearance of a routine errand, but his heart was set on the urgent task ahead. The letter to Prince Stolas was safely tucked in his jacket, a lifeline for Lady Phenix. The captain knew he had to succeed, not just for duty's sake, but for her safety and his own growing sense of purpose.

[Betrothed, for Edgar and Phenix! She's human in this of course]
@lady-phenix
She was the oldest daughter of King Paimon of Goetia. It was always her duty to one day marry and secure alliances for her father and family, as well as extend their power and influence. It had been expected of her since birth. She had hoped to marry a prince but was instead betrothed to the Duke at eleven years old. She was twenty, more than ready to be married, and was now officially meeting her groom to be for the first time. Her father was accompanying her, not for comfort but rather to insure all went well.
"Smile dear" the tall king looked down at his daughter as they were presented to the court, "you want to show your best for your future husband"
Princess Phenix took her father's words to heart and forced herself to smile kindly. She should've been used to doing that by now at least...
"This is my daughter, Princess Phenix, my lord...isn't she lovely?".
Phenix bowed politely. "I'm honored to make your acquaintance, your grace. I am...looking forward to a long and lovely life together" her voice was clear and soft, almost like wind chimes in a soft breeze.
Edgar bowed back, flattered by the King's choice of him to be Princess Phoenix's husband. "I am honored to be your betrothed, milady. You are indeed far lovelier than mere descriptions."

The cherub followed after her and climbed up onto the couch so he could listen to her story. It was a long one. steeped in tradition, sadness, reluctance and separation. On top of that she had mentioned the Sins. He had heard a few good things of the Queen of Gluttony and a few whispers about the King of Lust, but not much about the others, but her story brought them into the light and a hint of the sort of people they were.
Warbie's tail feather drooped when she recounted that she had been forever been separated from her caring mother at such a young age. "That....certainly ruffles my feathers the wrong way." He said softly, shaking out his tail feathers of the awful weight and feeling had gotten after her story.
He gazed up at the grand staircase and the soft light coming from the windows. "You know, humans are keen to say old places that hold memories also hold the spirits of the departed." He told her gently, kicking is feet from the edge of the couch. "I don't know much about the inner workings of Hell's nobles, but it doesn't seem too far from what mortal and some heaven officials experience albeit the routes taken are a bit different. The strife is there and also a party left wanting." He turned to her, the golden ornaments of his glasses chains jangling and catching the light. "Have you ever tried looking through this palace? It's so big and she was here for so long. Perhaps she's hidden things in various parts of of the grounds." He pondered brightly. A treasure hunt. Discoveries and uncovering secrets and stories. Things that he had always been been drawn to but hardly ever present in Heaven. But here the Raven Hall, felt so filled with things. Just looking at the walls and the ceilings it was like he was in a forgotten cave with hidden sleeping gemstones glittering in the light of glow worms. "Since...I'll be here could I have permission to wander the halls and explore when you're not here? The position holds no merits, but my official job title in Heaven is Evanescence Recollector. Most Wishes that make it up to us, we can piece something to the human with whatever materials we have, but some Wishes are filled with such memories and nostalgia that we go to places where they had experienced them and try to recapture aspects of it for their Wish. Perhaps I might be able to find some things she's left her mark with."
Warbie's gaze sheepishly lowered, as he played with his feathered fingers. "It's the very least thing I can do in my power to help you for graciously hosting me here and saving my life from that hellhound." He had always wished he was more powerful so he could do his job better, and provide the humans a more fulfilling result. And now more than ever, he felt he was a very small bird, compared to the elegant and tall Phenix. Especially after that form she had taken. He wondered what it could be if he could have a milligram of power, then perhaps he could offer her more than someone who was going to pretty much rifle through old dust coverings and objects in an empty manor.
Phenix smiled warmly, happy that someone appreciated her home as much as she did. Many just thought the chateau was better off abandoned, left to crumple inevitably to dust. She found an old couch and took a seat.
"I was a princess once. But I was disinherited...the history of this place is a rather sad one. This was where my mother was banished to after she refused my father's divorce demands" she explained as her ear tufts flattened.
"I am the biological daughter of King Paimon and his second wife, Ravenna of the house of Shax. My father has a custom though, one that both brought my mother to power and then discarded her. Every seven years, King Paimon takes a new wife. He extends it however if the wife gives him a son. The longest he's ever been married is a decade before he got bored and wanted to move on. At any rate, my mother was a lady in waiting to his first wife, Queen Octavia, before he inevitably divorced her and married my mother. He fought beak and talon to get his tradition signed into law, just so he could do what he did. But all they had was me" Phenix sighed, "so when I was seven, my father wanted a divorce. Knowing that would mean I would become entitled to nothing from him, that I'd lose my place as a female Goetia, my mother fought him on the divorce and refused his demands. That's how she became known as Ravenna the Defiant".
Phenix held a faint smile as she continued. "They went all the way to hells highest courts, to the point where six of the seven deadly sins took sides in it. On her side she had Asmodeus, Beelzebub, and Leviathan, who agreed the law and tradition were nonsense. But on his side were Mamon, Belphegor, and yes, Satan himself, who all stood by the law and found his claims legitimate. They nearly tore hell apart over it until Lucifer himself stepped in, and heard testimonies from both my parents. He sided with my mother" her smile faded a little at that, "so...he found another way out of his marriage. He sent my mother away here to Raven Hall when I was nine. He forbade us from ever writing each other or seeing one another. I never saw my mother again Mister Warbie, alive or dead. She passed when i was ten. Yes, Paimon was even cruel enough to keep me from her funeral. My ring and this supposedly haunted château are all I have of her...shortly after she died, I was forced to sign a legal document that declared me a bastard, which stated that I was never to claim the title of princess, nor would I inherit anything from Paimon if and when he passed. I was to be declared a bastard, and therefore legally illegitimate. The only thing i was entitled to was what my mother left me, and this house was all that she had to leave for me".
Phenix had adored her mother immensely. It was from her that she learned to be as she was. Ravenna had sought to bring change to hell and it's hierarchy, believing it to be nonsensical. A more united hell would stand strong against its enemies, no matter who they were.
"I think you would've liked her also..." she thought aloud looking up at the staircase going up to the upper floors, "some say she's still here. But I've never seen her...".

The little Cherub felt a swell of pride in his chest. He had often seen the sliver of joy his creations had brought humans. They were small little gifts and miracles delivered anonymously, and they often brought a moment or a low and steady level of hope and excitement, but the Lady's wistful but hopeful smile that was tinged with happiness. He would have never dreamed that a few tidied garden beds could bring such nostalgic relief to someone. He smiled, "Maybe...it was a good thing someone sent me to Hell with a bag of seed." He chuckled softly. His eyes fell to the side and back up, "You asked if it was possible to miss someone you never met, and something was missing from you. You were probably talking about your memories, but..." He rubbed his shoulder, "I think I may have been feeling something similar when I was Up There. You've already showing me so many wonderous and majestic things." He lifted himself out of her arms. "Please. Take a seat, My Lady." He said gesturing to a table set that had been cleaned and freshly painted. The repair were not perfect but the table and chairs were stable with a few fresh pieces of glass and tiles that had been pressed into the chipping mosaic. "I'll go fetch the tea and cake" Back up to the study he flew, and swooped in from the window. He landed and practically skipped to the bookshelves for the tin tea, and the large wooden table with the golden crusted cake and dusting of powdered sugar. He looked up to the large empty frame that hung in the room, and tilted his head with a smile. Though no portrait sat within the frame, he still felt like his imagination could fill it with the Matron of Raven Hall. He tapped the kettle and it slowly began to bubble and heat the water as he plated two slices of cake, one larger for Lady of course. Onto the silver tray, went the tea pot followed by the teacups, saucers, forks, napkins and for an added bit of flare. He snapped off a sprig of peppermint from a pot that he was tending and placed it on top of her slice of cake. He had a tag in the pot that read [Boundless Growth and Endless Stories], a little charm to help it grow fast and large so he could one day hopefully fill the library with peppermint for the Lady.
"Perfect!" He grabbed a hold of the tray's handles and carefully flew it out the window and back to the garden. "I'm back!" he said carefully placing it onto the table.
Honestly where would she be without him? He was honestly such a sweetheart...phen had no idea what she did to deserve him or his kindness.
"Thank you. My father tried to let this château fall to ruin...to make me lose the one thing I had left of my mother. And you...you restored it...for me" all four of her purple eyes watered, "I honestly don't know what I did to deserve you, but...i...I am so, so grateful Mister Warbie, for everything you do..." she told him, her heart swelling with feeling.
Phenix sniffed and looked down at him, her whole face soft with many emotions. But she was most of all grateful. He was so, so kind to her.
"Honestly, some tea sounds amazing right about now. And I've never had angel food cake before. It sounds so nice" her long tail feathers wagged behind her.
After having gone through so much pain, she needed a reprieve and he was providing it for her. This little cherub who owed her nothing. Who had, for all intents and purposes, every right to hate her by nature. Phen knew she'd never be able to repay him, but damned if she wouldn't at least try...

This took me two hours. I’m quite proud. I don’t like how Torako or Thomas look. I’m going to sleep.
Wanted to draw some of my favorites! (Fun fact: the first tau fic I ever red was chapter 100 of Lady Phenix’s Tales of a Dreambender ‘small packages pt 1’ )
The fic about star made me cry. SYWTBAD is my favorite arc. And now I’m oversharing. I wanted to draws Alcor hanging out with someone, but I couldn’t decide who! So why not a bunch?
Happy TAU!

Striker walked beside the Marquess, carefully matching her pace. He listened as she sighed softly and spoke about the lack of allies and the constant surveillance she endured. His eyes remained forward, but his attention was fully on her words.
"Allies are more important than ever in such times, my Lady."
He replied, his tone respectful and sincere.
"And I assure you, no harm will come to anyone under my watch."
He could sense her need for reassurance and aimed to provide it without overstepping his bounds.
As they continued along the path, the beauty of the amaranth water lilies in bloom offered a serene backdrop to their conversation.
"The palace is quite...grand."
He remarked, glancing around.
"But I understand that it takes time for a place to feel like home. I find comfort in knowing there are spaces where you can be at ease, like this garden and the library."
When Lady Phenix mentioned their privacy in the garden, Striker felt a flicker of genuine concern.
"Thank you for your trust, madam."
He murmured softly.
"I can see you are constantly watched, and that is a heavy burden to bear. I promise to honor your trust and maintain our confidences."

A mysterious video has been sent to Lady Phenix’s personal phone. The title reads ‘Official message from the Greed Ring’
The video shows a Sea Demon, Specifically a Ray, clearly from the Envy Ring, but sporting Green and Yellow hair. They wear a short Cloak emblazoned with Lightning Bolts and Money Signs.
Sparks fly from their fingertips as they fidget excitedly.
“Hi, Lady Phenix! I’m Lumi. I’ve recently become Mammon’s new Brand Manager for the Greed Ring so I wanted to drop this message by you to say if you need anything at all, you’re more than welcome in The Greed Ring.
Between you and me, I’m hoping to bring a more friendly face to Mammon’s Kingdom! Greed gets a bad reputation but I know we can improve our image with the people of hell, and I think having a good relationship with the Goetia is a good start!
If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to contact us!”
A flash of Money Signs flits across the Screen, and disappears as the video ends.
Phenix almost felt sick to her stomach. Why the hell would Mammon of all people be contacting her? After everything he did to her? After everything he helped put her mother through-
Except it wasn't him. She blinked at the sight of the fish demon, head cocked curiously. Well this was new...surely not the Sin's doing. Mam was never one for change, at least not without herculean effort. Her uncle would've been far more suited for this.
Regardless though, this Lumi seemed nice enough. Not one she would expect to be working in Greed...seemed too cheery for that. Regardless, Phenix figured maybe she could use some help...
The former Marquess was newly divorced, finally free from her wretched, abusive husband, the Grand Marquis Andras. Unfortunately though it was messy. She had her son, Edward, but custody was to be shared. All she had was her mother's old château, which had been left mostly to rot. Perhaps this Lumi could help her find someone who could help get the home back in order.
Only a moments hesitation, she dialed the number back, her heart pounding. Nix seriously hoped this would be alright. Maybe this wasn't exactly greeds thing but an estimate would definitely be in order.
"Is this Miss Lumi? I just got your message and I may have use for yours or someone in greed's services" she sat on her bed, trying not to sound too anxious.
Phone anxiety was a real thing for her...among other things.
